Resolved Question: Help! I am SO stuck on which branch I want to join!! U.S. Navy or U.S. Army??? ARMY or NAVY Recruiters, anyone?

I really like the fact that the navy travels and I like the fact that i will be on the water and what not. I feel that I will have more opportunities in the navy after I get out and what not. I want a job in something like aviation or something, I think that waving the air craft in on the ship would be fun but not something i would want to do as a career... idk... I am more nervous about the ASVAB becasue i am not to great at algebra but can do it a little bit and i think that might make me fail.... Also i am a more hands on type of worker so i want to be outdoors..... another con of joining the navy is that i have to cut my hair but i would do it, i'm not acting like a brat about it. ( please don't think that! ) I want to join the army because it has a type of work environment that i think i will be outside and active 24/7. I don't mind being deployed for a long time because i have no commitment at home like a family of my own or a boyfriend. (I am a girl). it will be easier to get into, I feel that I will have a better time, but idk yet. I want to be able to pick the job i am qualified for. I love their benefits. I will travel, and all that. I really REALLY love to travel!! and I am very very active. I have lots of energy so i could stay up all night get 2 to 3 hours of sleep then be wide awake ready to go and get things done and have fun with it. So please help me decide which is better suited for me, If you need more information about me just ask and i will add details. more

Resolved Question: can someone grade my sat essay on scale 1-12?

Carefully consider the following statement, and then write your essay as directed. "No progress is possible without sacrifice." Write an essay that discusses this statement. You may use illustrations from history, literature, current events, or your own experience or personal observation. Essay: Albert Einstein once said: progress without sacrifice is never true gain. Many people in our society today believe they can attain success without giving up anything. However this is a great misconception: almost all progress requires sacrifice. this principle is exemplified in Farenheit 451 when Guy Montag gives up his wife and job to truly gain free thought, and how people in America gave up the well fare of the environment to gain travel expediency. In Farenheit 451, Guy Montag truly sacrificed many things before receiving any gain. He lived in a society where books were burnt because they promoted free thought. It was believed that a true utopian society can only be achieved when everyone thinks alike, and this can only be done by ridding all books. Although Montag's original occupation was as a "fireman", one who burns books, he eventually developed a great passion for reading and wanted to have free thought. In the end, Montag sacrificed his job, wife, and conformity with society to gain a life with books. This example truly shows that one can not have progress without experiencing any sacrifice. Similar to how Guy Montag sacrificed his wife and job for books, people in our country today have sacrificed the well fare of the environment in order to gain the benefits of cars. Almost every family in America has a car because it gives expediency to transportation. Many people have gained a lot from cars, but these benefits come at a great cost. Gas emissions from car engines have not only promoted global warming but also polluted the air that we breath. The smog in city areas have caused a great number of lung disease cases. People sacrificed the well fare of the environment and their health in order to gain the benefits of cars. Progress rarely comes without being preceded by sacrifice. Guy Montag gave up family, his job, and security in order to gain freedom of thought. Almost everybody in America has given up the well fare of our planet and their health in order to gain expediency in travel. It is an immutable truth that sacrifice is the predecessor of progress. please add comments on how i got the score and how to imrprove more

Resolved Question: If you wouldn't mind, can you give me feedback on my creative writing?

Hey, this is for my english lesson, just if you could give me a few pointers or just the first paragraph or something :) it's due in tomorrow :) xxx I was standing by the ocean where the frothy waves were rising up and crashing against the wet stones and damp sand. Looking around I saw: crashing waves; untouched sand; a sky full of dismal grey clouds and a perplexing, secretive cave. Something in me disagreed, but something else dragged me towards the opening and I couldn’t help but follow. As I walked towards the towering cave the hairs on the back of my neck stood tall, like an orchestra of violins with a single note quavering above the rest. As I walked inside, the high cave wall felt cold and unbreakable; I followed its grooves and contours with my trembling hand. In the distance the cave ceiling lowered and darkened. All though there was so much space but somehow it seemed to be confined. The walls were silvery grey and the silver specks glistened from previous rain drops. The air was very fresh and clear, every time I inhaled the air felt new a fresh. I stumbled on a rock, trying to make my way out of there, and a small squeak escaped my from my mouth; it bounced to the high ceiling of the cave and the echo travelled like a tennis ball moving rapidly around a court. The sunlight diminished behind a break in the cave wall and panic grew across me. I decided to investigate the glowering cave. Although it was dark I found a small entrance, I kneeled down and crawled through, I felt damp mud on my knees. Standing straight I brushed them off then stood astonished. Before me was a small patch of water, like a Lough, sited in a quiet, secretive chamber of the cave. Heaven had opened its wide gates and rain teemed down, I turned to find the exit but the darkness had taken it. Alone, I stood tall, and I felt something change inside me. It was the feeling of bravery and love. I had a love for adventure. Although the night air was cold within the cave, I was hot. Trickling, in the distance, was a small Lough. Winding, it flew gently with heirs of tranquillity. The cave, damp with night air, seemed to soften at this point; showing another side. My eyes were glued to this small, delicate Lough. Manipulated by the cave walls, it raised gracefully and it fell softly like a ballet dancer. Carelessly I made my way over to it. I toddled across damp rocks, like a game of stepping stones. There was something about the cave that had drawn me in before, and here was strike two. Like an enchanted mist was dragging me forwards, I became closer and closer until, before me was what I can only describe as a fragment of my imagination in validity. The Lough proliferated in to an open space where the cave ceiling had been lifted and twilight was in place. It was anyone’s guess at the time, but however much I wanted to run away something in me made me stay and venture on. Out to the sea, the small Lough had extended and the waves were not choppy and violent but still, quiet and very precise. It was then I began to trust - not just myself but my surroundings. Stacks, arches and caves were formed by the hand of it, the sea. As soft as a lullaby the sea grasped my feet which felt wet but soft on the damp black sand. Peacefully, I led myself back into the cave. Somehow I strolled back through like I had been coming here all my life. The cave was untouched, and suddenly I saw it differently, as not my enemy but my friend. Remembering my route of the utmost preciseness I was out in no time, and could not believe what I saw, which happened to be, surprisingly enough, daylight. I looked down to my watch which read the time ‘4:37 PM’. I cleared any dust that may have lay of the face of my wrist-watch and rubbed my eyes free of tiredness and still, clear as day, ‘4.38 PM’. Walking out into the fresh, open air was a very different environment. The trees swayed in the soft wind, and the waves were still rising and falling ever so gracefully, yet there was no sign of rain. The concrete floor was cold under my now bare feet, so I hurried back home. On the journey home, I wondered to myself could I have been somewhere other than a sea formation? I figured it must have been a dream; I’d be gone for what seemed like a lifetime but in reality was the best part of half an hour. The next day I returned to the cave but couldn’t find it, I must have been dreaming.ALSO! I do have paragraphs just I did it on word so the format is all scrambled :) xxxOh and I am fourteen, in year nine.my teacher put the semi-colons inmy teacher put the semi-colons inif you have a verb before the noun in a list, you have to have a semi-colon not a comma :) more

Resolved Question: Is there any science behind cellphones popping popcorn?

A while back, my father showed me this Youtube video about some guys who set a few popcorn kernels in the middle of a ring of five cell phones and then called the phones. Supposedly, the radiation from the phones caused the kernels to pop. This was supposed to be a justification as to why he wouldn't give me a cell phone at the age of 13 (which wasn't all that safe since I was already traveling by public transit at that age), but I was skeptic about a few things. 1. A microwave can't even pop a bag of popcorn without it being in an enclosed area and raising to high amounts of heat. How is it that these kernels popped in an open-air environment on top of a wooden table? The cellphones would have to be hot enough to burn a hole through the table in order to get the job done, right? 2. If cellphones emitted THAT much radiation, wouldn't we all be nearly dead from daily use of it? What about businesspeople who need to use their cellphones almost every other minute? What about teens who text as often as they breate--wouldn't they develop some kind of skin cancer? What is the science and logic behind this "experiment"? Could it be possible with certain brands and models of phones? Would those phones need to be recalled? Is it impossible with any cell phone? Is it possible with all phones? Now that I'm writing it, I think it would make an awesome science experiment. XD What do you guys think, should I take it on?Katie - I thought it was fake too. I fell for it for a few moments but then I realized that there are too many flaws...And in case anyone's wondering, I'm seventeen now and have a cheap-o cell phone. Woohoo. :PHeh. Thought so. Then there was probably a heating plate beneath the table. more

Resolved Question: The European Union "PETS scheme" for traveling?

okay so I went on the website and here's what it said about bringing in an animal into a European country.. The PETS scheme: The scheme is designed to stop the spread of rabies and other diseases while still allowing pets to travel. The EU has been free of rabies for many years, but mammals are still at risk in some other countries. All rabies-susceptible animals entering the UK have to spend six months in quarantine, unless they arrive under and meet all the conditions of PETS. Most European Union (EU) countries and many outside the EU have joined PETS. You can check details and the full procedure for preparing your pet on the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) website. TO BE ELIGIBLE, YOUR CAT, DOG, OR FERRET MUST: -first be fitted with a microchip -then be vaccinated against rabies -wait 21 days from the date of their first rabies vaccination before travelling to another European Community country -not have visited any non-approved countries or territories for at least six months Ex. Middle East countries and asia before they enter or re-enter the EU CATS AND DOGS MUST ALSO: -be blood tested with a satisfactory result by a European Union approved laboratory -wait six calendar months from the date the blood sample was taken before re-entering the EU YOU MUST ALSO ENSURE THAT YOUR PET: -is issued with a pet passport by their vet -is treated by a vet for tapeworm and ticks, not less than 24 hours and not more than 48 hours before checking in with a PETS-approved carrier for the journey back to the UK -travels into the UK on a PETS-approved sea, air or rail route ---->Okay so what exactly does "must first be fitted with a microchip" mean? what happens in the process and where is the microchip fitted? :S --->how do you get a pet passport issued by your vet? is there anything else one should know.. or is that pretty much it.. are there any other regulations that must be followed or measures that should be taken for the process to go smoothly? thanks in advance more

Voting Question: Help me fulfil my wish - get me work that helps me travel all over, in India and abroad.?

I wish I had work (not necessarily a job) that took me to places all over India and abroad. Not just the commercial hubs like London, Singapore, New York etc. but also beyond. I am ok to make decent money but should have enough opportunity to travel. Not really looking for a corporate "up in the air" job but something where I can interact with people outside boardrooms too. Such a work could be in the form of a long-term project, a full-time employment, on-n-off but steady consultancy, etc. Could be with global companies, not-for-profit organisations, developmental agencies etc. I have 15 years of experience in global conglomerates, financial services firms, technology companies, dotcoms, and research institutions. I have worked in general management, strategic and techno-business roles. I am good at conceptualising things strategic and creative, starting new things from scratch, working with small teams and have result-oriented inter personnel skills. I have a keen interest in knowing about people, cultures, and environment. Can anyone suggest me anything?? At least, where to start looking? more

Resolved Question: practicing medicine internationally?

Im Active Duty USAF and also Pre-Med student(A very unconventional one at that), I have thoughts of practicing within the service but seperating and practicing as a civillian could happen as well. Not too long ago I had an oppurtunity to travel to El Salvador with my wife(she's from San Salvador), and I was swept up in the culture, it was a great experience. I loved the culture, food, environment, etc, and I told her I would actually be interested in living down there for awhile at some point, im about 3/4 fluent Spanish already so I can get around as well. If I would be interested in this in the future what would be the path to get on? I realize it wouldn't pay that much but getting to practice for a few years in a country like El Salvador or Honduras would be very interesting to me.. Would I have any chance of getting somewhat of an "unusual" assignment like that if I stay in the Air Force or would I be better off going through a civillian program like "doctors without borders"? although im pretty sure they place you where they want, im specifically targeting central america so I can help people in an area, so my wife can live in her homeland again for awhile and it also being somewhere im familiar with the language.. EIther way it would be many years away but the interest is there regardless.. more

I want to either do something in intelligence or in Shipborne, airborne, or ground based defense (doesn't matter, just some kind of defense). Reasons for wanting to join the Air Force: -I think it will provide me with more a of a variety with what i want to do -it has a great college system (so does the Navy but idk which ones better) Reasons for Joining the Navy -my family has been Navy -i Grew up Navy -the Intelligence program is better than the one of the Air force. -i get to serve on a variety of ships and get to travel alot more. i want to travel and live abroad and i want a highly technical environment. which Branch do you think is better for me. i say navy but im still leaning towards the Air Force a little. i dont want to join the navy and find out that i was right for the Air force. more

Resolved Question: Stereotypes about aliens and UFO's and what not?

Why is it that in movie's and such, alien's are always depicted as being human shaped but with bigger heads and no hair? Also, why do people think that they would travel across the universe in saucer shaped ships? I believe that there is other intelligent life out there somewhere in our universe but why would they be so similar to us? The reason we are the way we are, is because we live on Earth. Our structure has evolved this way to withstand gravity, we have lungs to extract oxygen from the air and expel carbon dioxide etc. But species from far away planets are most likely going to be built differently depending on their environment. I just watched that "Alien autopsy" video on youtube and so many comments by people are saying "that's definitely real, the government is hiding secrets etc." I just don't see why everyone pictures aliens as being bald humans with big heads. Also what's the purpose of the flying saucer? I mean design-wise, how are these things even supposed to fly? more

Resolved Question: Help with conclusion on slow foods/ local foods?

I am doing a speech on local foods help with conclusion? I dont have one yet Slow Foods, Local Foods “Slow Food aims to be everything fast foods is not” USA Today. These words just about sum up what everyone believes Slow Foods it about, actually it’s much more. Slow Foods is more than a way of eating, it’s a lifestyle. This lifestyle connects our food consumption and lifestyle elements around us. Slow Foods is now a global movement with thousands of members around the world. These members link the delight of food with their commitment to the community and the environment. If you were to look at any produce at any store here in Hawaii, you would probably see Made in Mexico, Made in California, or Made in Chili. Can you believe that that tomato you’re eating traveled 3,980 miles just so you could devoured it? People have gone so far with food, and now its time to backtrack. We need to go back to our roots, gardens at home, and the local markets, you may not think that this could impact our world but it can, and with your help it will. Slow Food aims to counter fast life, as in fast food restaurants and industrialized foods. Fast life has led to thousands of irreplaceable local traditional restaurants, all because industrialized foods are easy to package. Fast life has a major impact on the environment, all those planes, barges, and factory processing and shipping food all over the world. Basically Slow foods is promoting local farmers markets and all local food. They are trying to tell us, “Hey stop buying that stuff from Mexico and who knows where. Start helping your environment, and eat foods from where you live for a change!” These people are right. Do you know why food costs so much in Hawaii? Because it has to travel so far; to travel you need gas, to have gas you need money. That money they need is coming straight out of your pocket. 80-90% of food in the state of Hawaii is imported, think about that next time you eat a tomato. Imagine if only 50% was imported or 40%, most of the food you see in grocery stores would be local. If everyone in the island of Hawaii went out to a local farmers market and bought their weeks worth of food there, not only would you be promoting Slow Food and local food, you would have helped the environment greatly. Think about it 148,677 people all buying locally grown food, that would take a huge weight off the environment. Your probably thinking, so what? I can just go to Costco and get everything I need. Well eating local mean more for the local economy. For every dollar you spend locally it produces twice as much income for the local economy. Whereas buying at a non-local place such as Costco, the money leaves our community every time someone buys something. Local food is almost always fresher that imported foods, when you shop at supermarkets the produce have been sitting there for days, or even weeks. When you buy local the produce has probably been picked within the day before. Eating local is better for air quality and pollution. Believe it or not, eating organic isn’t like eating local, organic foods still travel thousands of miles to get to you. Whereas any local food could be from your neighbors backyard and only have to travel a couple of steps. more

Voting Question: Would anyone be willing to read my essay?

The essay is on going green, and i would like someone to double check it. (: Being green! Living green! Going green! When the word “green” is presented, you may conclude to trees, grass, or any wildlife. This is why the term “going green” is subjected to being environment friendly. Being eco-friendly is so important for you, the environment and the creatures around you. There are countless ways that you can get into the sport of treating the economy with respect. By helping, we can all make a difference around the world. With our assistance, we can make mother earth a healthier place for the environment and the creatures around it. What happens to the environment affects the animals surrounding it. Global warming, greenhouse gasses, destruction of forests, pollution of oceans, air and land are all harming the environment that animals depend on to live. All of these factors are polluting a creature’s natural habitat making life difficult for survival. A well aware issue is the polar bears habitat melting due to global warming. When the ice bergs melt, the polar bear is left with nothing to rely on and eventually may drown or starve. When an animal’s habitat is polluted, the animal is harmed as well. Many sorts of junk is being dumped or thrown in lakes, ponds, and oceans. This forces the marine animals out of their homes, which may lead them to death. There are many other incidents of animals being forced out of their homes due to pollution, possibly leading to extinction. Earths creatures are becoming extinct as a consequence of humans. As mentioned before, greenhouse gases are leading polar bears and many other animals to extinction. If we do not stop these actions, millions of other species could be affected and could eventually die out. There are hundreds of causes for this catastrophe that is happening to our economy. Cars that run on fuel contribute greatly. These cars release a terrible gas into the air, which is one of the most horrible sorts of pollution. Despite this, there is many ways to avoid vehicles that run on fuel. One possible option is an electric car, which does not incorporate fuel. Another option is to simply reduce the frequency of using your vehicle. You may ride a bike or take a walk; there is many different ways to travel. Another ponderous event is simple littering. Many human beings are becoming more apathetic as the years go by, and because of this they may become lazy enough to throw out their own garbage. We have all done it, even if we persist not to. However, this issue is not fine. We must learn that if an item can be reduced, reused, or recycled, that we can help contribute to the environment. It is said that us humans are what has made mother earth a junkyard, so we must save our planet. Reduce, reuse, and recycle are three small worlds that make a big difference in our society. You may have an empty plastic water bottle. Instead of having this bottle end up in a landfill, you could simply recycle it or even reuse it. There are many ways to rework a plain bottle; with some imagination you may work something amazing. Even before you bought the plastic bottle, you could have spared it by buying a reusable one instead. Another useful way to go green is by planting trees, or even seeding a small garden. The more seeds are planted, the more oxygen is produced from them. When we cut down trees, the carbon dioxide we breathe is shortened; therefore, this is an excellent way to be green. Being eco-friendly will help you, the environment and all living things have a better society to live in. If our mother earth will be too polluted, the animals will become extinct; the plants will die, eventually leading us to our deaths. However this is not necessary at all, not unless we make a change of our actions now. There are hundreds of ways we may help our environment be as it once was, and we must think of the future generations living on the same planet. If everyone on our earth is aware of this issue, we can join hands and work together to make this a healthy place for everyone. more

Resolved Question: How does this chapter sound?

This is the beginning of chapter 16 of my fantasy novel. By the way they are walking in single file on a road with walls of briars on each side of them. How can I make it better? The temperature wasn't as forgiving as the other day. The briars around them were so frozen that they would snap the minute they'd rubbed against it. In a way it was a good thing, not getting jabbed by the briars, but when they came across a thorn that was stiff and unbreakable, it would slice through their coat, producing unbearable pain, exposing their skin to the bitter air. Despite all the unfortunate conditions, there was no more stumbling over rocks. The terrain had finally diverged into Zoysia grass, which was smooth and soft. It prevented feet blisters, and made it so much easier to travel. Max kept his arms crossed as he marched toward the plumes of his own breath. His were heavy, and after every few minutes they would start to close, until a chilled breeze would shock him awake. He was in the back of the line, even Byron was five feet ahead. He peered into the distance, seeing nothing but more briars and endless road. With only winter clothes and his last potato, his backpack rested light on his shoulder's. He put his head down as he let his hopes rise by imagining a briar-free environment, a cozy bed, and a plate, covered with fresh fish fillet, served with juicy scallops. Up in front, frustration began to settle in. Sean couldn't stop glancing down at his map. He remembered back when he thought they were heading East, but soon found out that they were actually going West. He didn't want to make the same mistake twice, especially because there would be no hikers or rescuers within at least a hundred miles. He nodded, knowing that there was no mistake, the dock was one mile away, but that just made him more nervous. There was no sight of it anywhere, just the continuation of road and briars. Then he stopped and turned around, prepared to reveal the bad news. The four of them looked at them with a blank expression. “I, I,” he stuttered. He paused, and peeked back one more time, peering with all his eye strength... A smiled rose on his face. “There it is!” He shouted, jumping up and down. more

Resolved Question: An adventure into paradise, care to comment?

Brook Side Manner The sun scatters through flickering trees, while walking beside a stony brook. The forest is as beauty seen; these eyes gaze upon in amazed look- settled in this resting place a nook. In that moment, of wonder had hooked. The dampen moss jacketing the earth, dwelling on dead elms and climbing the trees; clings to rocks of fossil assessment. The faint smell of freshness on the breeze, a song of Spring sprout in budding leaves. The dawn is full with a taste of glee. The voice of crickets hiding within the blades of grass dripping morning dew. The sky painted in shades of pastel, still waking to greet a sunrise new, as the light colors fade into blue. This set had an essence, this I knew. Of bended knee to trickling sight, to observe as the spring water flow, it moved swift like the rush of the wind; over each rock caused an undertow. A life of its own is all it knows- tranquility is what it bestows. The trees that mingled of soft sun rays captured to the purity I found. Bringing clarity to this witness, as heard from the brook is balanced sound- a symphony to surround the untouched wilderness of this ground. Near off the distance a field of aged straw bordered by the heights of evergreen. This secret place seems so far from there; protected by ferns banking to lean, where this peaceful brook lives barely seen, yet the majesty it holds is keen. Black-eyed Susan’s and daisies cluster in a territory where the pastures show. The woodland creatures scurry about at the arrival of fawns and does; plenty of room for them all to stow in that field where the harvest wheat grow. Lifting foot to follow its path down, stirring the perched bird to take of flight, in umbrella by the limbs above watching feathered wings disappear by sight. To be in this realm was a delight- outer the world of society’s plight. Stately oaks home next to maples tall, weeping willows swing amongst air. The scenery embarks to transform. Alongside this brook to who knows where? A mystery to discover there, traveling the path the water bare. This quaint brook side passage tells a tale, as seen on slopes to where water runs. Frogs in leaping and lilies growing, vision in glow of cascading sun. All of nature together as one bask and revel to what time has done. Descending on natures slated steps; two hands to pull back the thickened brush. Roped hanging vines clutter the prospect, foliage on the trail way very lush. The noise of the brook begins to gush, as looking over to watch it rush. Growing wider with a steady stream; speculating still, as where it guide? From the mountain top to a ravine uncovered the vision of my eyes, revealing the splendor the water hides- the brook was a waterfall disguised. The water spraying like summer rain, it poured from the top into a band. Serenity in this crystal pool, a true creation of the Lord’s hands, and in the charisma of this land all the environment took a stand. Founded by walk from a rivulet, a hidden palace mannered untamed. Breathing in the paradise of life is purity holding heaven’s name. Never to find a fountain the same, from a small brook side is where it came. Dana Morales I took the rhythm from one of Poe's poems, using A,B,C,B,B,B It's 14 stanzas long. I hope you all enjoyed the journey. more

Resolved Question: GERMAN natives/experts please?

How would one say: One should always throw away his/her rubbish in bins and not litter as it spoils the environment. One should travel by bus or cycle to reduce air pollution so that the environment is healthier. One should recycle as we are running out of resources. Hopefully, in the future, all people will do this and their towns will be ideal. the translation doesn't have to be exact, it can be worded differently :) Danke schoen! more

Resolved Question: Need help rewording a few paragraphs!?

LCA is a method used to analyze the consumption and environmental burdens associated with a product. LCA takes into account energy input and output involved in all stages of the life cycle including production, processing, packaging, transport and retirement. LCA evaluation accounts for a matrix of sustainability indicators beyond greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), including resource depletion, air and water pollution, human health impacts and waste generation. This method provides a more holistic approach to assessing the impact our food choices have on the environment. If a life cycle assessment approach is pursued, hopefully pressure will shift from reducing "food miles" - which can be a small percentage of the total energy input – to reducing emissions in all stages in the cycle of world Proponents of reducing food miles often suggest that buying local food will reduce the amount of energy involved in the transportation process, as food sourced locally travels shorter distances. The Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture has conducted several studies that compare the distance traveled by conventional versus local foods. Figure 3, compiled by the Leopold Center, compares food miles for local versus conventional produce traveling to Iowa. In all cases, the locally grown food travels a significantly shorter distance than the conventionally sourced food. It is interesting to note that when the transportation method was taken into account, the local food system required more energy and emitted more CO2 than the regional system. This is because the trunks supplying food locally had a smaller capacity, therefore requiring more trips and logging more miles. It has been shown that local food systems do reduce food miles, which in turn tend to reduce energy consumption, but there are exceptions. Local transportation systems may not always be as efficient as regional systems, depending on the mode of transport and load capacity. more

Resolved Question: Why is there no ferry from Bali to Darwin ?

Everyone knows that flying damages the environment. Everyone knows Australia is wishing to rerduce the co2 produced and therefore why not do something positive. A daily passenger ferry boat from Bali to Brisbane would save a lot of air travel and make visiting OZ much easier so it would be good for tourism. So why no ferry boat from Bali to Darwin, it is such a small distance to Kupang and already there are ferry boats to the whole of Indonesia. If anyone knows of a boat, please let me know, because I would like to return to OZ. Travelling from UK but I no longer fly, because it is very damaging to the environment. Thanks ! more

Resolved Question: If Janet Napolitano says the system works in latest terrorists attacks of that plane is this the same system?

If Janet Napolitano says the system works in latest terrorists attacks of that plane is this the same system Her and Obama have regarding the Mexico border the system works ? Even though Janet Napolitano claims of her assertion that crossing the border illegally “isn’t a crime per se”, to her boneheaded claim that 9/11 terrorists came in through the Canadian border. Obama off in his $ 4.000 a day vacation home he is unable to keep America safe and lacks the experience .We are suppose to believe these same two people know anything about the border, illegals, when they say the system worked....What we are focused on is making sure that the air environment remains safe, that people are confident when they travel. And one thing I’d like to point out is that the system worked. Everybody played an important role here. The passengers and crew of the flight took appropriate action. Within literally an hour to 90 minutes of the incident occurring, all 128 flights in the air had been notified to take some special measures in light of what had occurred on the Northwest Airlines flight. We instituted new measures on the ground and at screening areas, both here in the United States and in Europe, where this flight originated. So the whole process of making sure that we respond properly, correctly and effectively went very smoothly. The sad facts are; - 2 Muslims (not White vets in militia groups) have attempted terrorist atrocities upon Americans contrary to the cooked up story JaNo and the Obama regime foisted America with their original “returning vets joining militia” warnings. - 13 innocents died at Fort Hood because the system failed. - 277 innocents on a NWA jet over Detroit are alive only due to sheer luck and stand as evidence of yet another example of this Obama regime’s failures to protect Americans. Obama and JaNo have their eyes “focused like laser-beams” on the wrong targets…and we’ve 3 more years of risk under this incompetent Obama regime. more

Resolved Question: Do you believe it when Janet Napolitano says the “system worked”?

What we are focused on is making sure that the air environment remains safe, that people are confident when they travel. If the “system” had “worked,” the U.S. consular officials who granted Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab a short-term visa last June would have revoked it immediately upon being informed by his father that he was a Muslim radical with al Qaeda ties. If the “system” had “worked,” U.S. consular officials would have never granted Abdulmutallab — a rootless, young, single male — a visa in the first place in compliance with State Department visa regulation 214(b): That law requires an applicant to show strong roots in his home country — such as a house, a spouse, and/or employment — in order to prove that he would be likely to return home when his visa expired. Young, single, unemployed men are the people most often refused visas under 214(b) (when it is actually enforced) for the very reasons that al Qaeda recruits them so heavily: They are shiftless and have very little to stop them from packing up and moving to a new country. There’s also, sadly, very little to prevent them from committing terrorist attacks. If the “system” had “worked,” Abdulmutallab would have been barred from the U.S. like he had been barred from Britain. The “system,” like Napolitano, was an epic fail. And as predicted, Napolitano also played the “lone nut” card — dismissing the Christmas Day jihadist as a single operator not part of “anything larger” despite his own testimony to the contrary. She’s Obama’s biggest joker. And there’s no Blame-Bush loophole to weasel through anymore. http://michellemalkin.com/2009/12/27/clown-alert-janet-napolitano-says-the-system-worked/ more

Voting Question: Sore throat in Humid climates.?

I travel to tropical Malaysia once a year and without fail, I get sick. Within a week of being there, I get a sore throat and my nose runs. Some have suggested that the cause is going into an air conditioned environment like a hotel or a car and then walking around outside in 90+ degrees weather with a very high humidity level. I don't get sick when I am in southwest Florida though and the weather is similar. Can you tell me what the cause of the sickness is and what I may be able to do to prevent it in the future? I would like to be able to prevent it from occuring or at least be able to bring the proper medication with me. Thank you, I am scheduled to leave again in a week. more

Resolved Question: Sylvia Browne Predictions for the Next 100 Years.....?

Tell me if you believe, in a hundred years that any of these predictions can happen. If so, which ones do you hope are true? •Eradication of cancer as we know it, using sound waves, photo sensitive drug therapy, and "self-addicting" cells. •Robotic houses, controlled by computerized switchboard. •Electrical cars with flotation ability for water travel to bypass freeways. •Houses made from pressed paper with plastic coatings; interchangeable walls •Separate body parts cloned for organ transplants; not an entire body. •New form of painless tooth extraction, using a type of suction, with immediate replacement of new tooth. •Diagnostic chambers which map the body's electrical balance to predict health problems before the come. •Cylindrical rooms in which people enter to see an automated projection of the clothing and color that would look good on them; select what you want, take your measurements, then two days later pick up the goods. •Third floor of houses have rollback roofs to allow Hovercrafts to come and go. •No more surgery with knives. Some type of molecular ionization device that knows how to take out the afflicted cells then seal the wound without a single scar. •Remolding of the whole face structure, to duplicate any look that you wish. •New exercise equipment that you sit or stand in, and it literally stimulates your muscles with electricity to achieve the same effect as physical exercise. •Babies will be birthed in water all the time, with music, incense, and green and lavender lights. •People will be able to simply "walk out" of their bodies upon death. •There will be no US Presidency; our government will go back to a Greek Senate structure. •No longer a single Pope, but a triumvirate of Popes, each assigned to a geographic collection of Catholics. •Peace in the Middle East will prevail by 2050. •West Coast goes under in 2026. Parts of the East Coast also get inundated. Tsunamis will wipe out a large portion of Japan. •The Hawaiian Islands will have upheaval and be the site of a large new landmass. •Atlantis will begin to show itself by 2023 and be fully visible by 2026. •After 2050, the "Age of the Messiah" is upon us. People turn totally toward Spirituality, peace will rein for a long time. People will return to community living, loving each other, and working together. •Treatment for depression and mood disorders will come from a "control chamber" that emits sensory stimulation gently to the brain, including certain smells, which will elevate mood. •Medicine in pill form goes away; instead we have air-injected delivery through the skin. •Atomic batteries will run cars. •No more gas propelled rockets in space; we will have nuclear powered cylinder shaped objects that travel everywhere. •A moon base is created for people to visit, and as a stopping place for further trips. By 2055 most people will live in domed cities due to poor atmospheric conditions. •A virtual reality headset will stimulate brain waves so people can learn whole libraries of information within hours. •Giant fruits and vegetables will be grown in hothouse environments. The nutrients will be synthesized into a highly condensed injection. •Proteins are developed without animal meat, very powerful, builds immune system. •Addictions will be a thing of the past because of a brain stimulation, which eradicates all addictions, with no side effects •Execution for the death penalty will become a complete vaporization of the body. •No separate governments, one planetary government will form. •Great earth changes will occur and germ warfare will be used before the world finds peace. But eventually from all of the bad comes good. The pendulum will swing back to humanity and love. •No world war is coming, but lots of civil disorder and small skirmishes. No nuclear holocaust. •Peace will last from 2050 until 2100, and then I see nothing beyond, which could mean "the end will come like a thief in the night." •Toward the end of things, the veil separating our world from The Other Side will thin, so much so that most people will see decease loved ones and speak with their Spirit Guides. •There will be many false prophets that rise up proclaiming to be Jesus on Earth, and try to lead people astray. We are already seeing this in the big rise of occultism. •People will again find Spirituality, not so much in organized religion, but in the spiritual brotherhood of coming together and finding their Temple within. •Four more comets will pass by before the end times. •Aliens will begin to show themselves in the year 2010, they will not harm us, they simply want to see what we are doing to this planet. They will teach us how to use anti-gravity devices again, such as they did for the pyramids.I am not saying any of these "predictions" are true. I'm just laying them out to be criticized on their probability. more

Resolved Question: Ladies and Gentlemen, Please Fasten Your Seatbelts: (Heavy Turbulence Ahead)?

If they had one, the seatbelt sign would probably stay brightly lit all the time at most corporate headquarters of major U.S. airline companies! The airline industry remains one of the most turbulent industries in the business world, even today. Deregulation in 1978 totally restructured and revamped the airline industry. Before the industry deregulated, the airlines were assigned routes and fares, and healthy profits for all competitors were practically guaranteed. But with deregulation came the fierce, free-for-all competition that a deregulated market was designed to foster. However, now, even after over eighteen years under deregulation, the “shake-out” period still seems to be plaguing the industry. Consumers, who because of the more competitive environment were supposed to benefit through lower prices and more air accessibility, find themselves frustrated with numerous hassles, delays, and waiting as they travel. Many complain that the airline companies don’t care anymore about their customers. For instance, when airline employees go on strike or engage in a labor slow-down, the consumers complain that they’re the ones to suffer. This situation has led to consumers having little faith and trust in the airlines. To achieve and keep customer satisfaction high, then, the airlines have to work doubly hard. Needless to say, the airlines haven’t exactly had a turbulence-free environment within which to operate their businesses. Competition within the deregulated industry is fierce. And that competition is coming not only from domestic airlines, but to an increasingly larger extent, from global ones as well. Employees want more pay and benefits even though costs have to be strictly controlled in order to stay competitive. Costs have to be watched carefully and even when the airlines do that, profit convenient travel times and locations, and hassle-free service. There’s even upstart new- typically low-cost and low-frill — airlines to deal with. It’s enough to make any sane manager fasten that seatbelt a little tighter! Question: Use Porter’s five-forces model to do a competitive analysis of the airline industry. more

Voting Question: Read my College Essay?

My eyes are brown. Not an amethyst-brown that intertwines with hazel swirls, or looms upon a sea of oranges and yellows. Within each encircled iris, small blue spheres are unable to be found amidst every stripe of non-existent green. They do not turn into sapphire crystals of blue when I cry, or mountain valley greens when I get mad. They’re simply brown. But, how could this be? My life is far from colorless; whether it is the color-coding obsession that seemingly awakens each time I open my closet, or the overbearing variety of colors within my mood-dependent collection of writing utensils. Silhouettes of primary, secondary and tertiary colors compliment one another upon the once whitened paper of my experiences; a box of Crayola crayons merely a gateway to describe who I am. Sunglow, tickle me pink and un-mellow yellows are just a few colors that may be used to illustrate myself; however, it is each color that represents a vital importance to my life. Atomic Tangerine. Atomic is the relation or use of atomic energy and or weapons, as in war. My brother Joe, who is a recent inductee of the United States Air Force, was deployed to Iraq for several months. During his deployment he emailed frequent pictures of his new-aliened environment, one of which will remain within my mind forever. A tangerine, or pungent reddish orange, background reverberated off the page. Within the setting, several helicopters dipped upon the horizon and below them several soldiers waited patiently to return home. It was a sunrise in Iraq, and it was framed upon the walls of my aquatic-themed room, until my brother, a hero, safely returned home. Pink Flamingo. Pink is a lighter shade of red, but, coincidentally, there may be thousands of shades, tones and varieties within it. Variety is vital to my life, along with independence. To follow the pathway of others is merely a waste, and I choose to take the path that is less traveled. Why be like others when you can be yourself? I am the color pink; but I used to be the “in” color, that is, until I realized flamingo pink, and not wild strawberry, was the color for me. Screamin’ Green. The majority of my friends have come to a consensus that I am the loudest person out there. I love to show my school spirit, especially in sports. Green is one of the colors of my high school and is therefore brought up often in conversation. Essentially, I could reach my hand into a box of crayola crayons and pull out one color at a time. Each color, coincidentally, has had some type of influence on my life or describes a certain asset of my personality. Life, without color, would simply be black and white. My eye color is plain brown; I am, however, a vivid variety of colors. Just pick a color, any color. more

Resolved Question: Could you help me with this essay please?

Take a look at it and check the mistakes it has please! A few years ago, cars had considered a necessity for people’s life, but we didn’t see the problem that it had caused. It seems to me that car is not in absolute good for us. Firstly, the car is one of the major causes of the carbon emission. So, that is because our health is in risk and the environment too. In addition, cars are expensive, you have to fill with gasoline every day, if you use so much and the time to buy too. Moreover, a car is one of the responsible for hundreds of deaths every month in the countries. That is because the imprudent drivers don’t care with the rules. Have car is very responsibility, cause you have people’s life en your hand. Some young people think that drive car is the most fantastic thing; they take like a game. In the other hand, cars are an instrument that helps you in many things, it’s fast to transport you place to place, to traveling and improvement the business helps the industries, etc. To sump up, cars are no especially good for us. Mainly for our health, because we don’t walk anymore and the air pollution too. But wit the technology we resolve that problem and with responsibility of the person the accidents are resolve too. more

Resolved Question: Ruby has pneumonia; I've taken her to the vet.. how do I obtain oxygen?

Here's a little background information: Ruby is about a year or so old, a white rat with red eyes. She was caged in a 4ft x 2.5ft x 2.5ft wired cage with levels, with 4 other rats. I've been in the military, going through school with my family taking care of my girls, in a SMOKE FILLED environment. I just came home almost 2 weeks ago, and got her and the others out of that home, into a SMOKE FREE emvironment. About a month ago, my family informed me that one of Ruby's cage sisters passed away due to pneumonia. They took her to the vet, but she was too bad... Anyway, around this time, my family informed me that Ruby started losing weight and showing the signs of a URI. They took her to the vet and started her, and the other rats on ENROFLOXICIN. After about a week, Ruby started showing signs of improvement in her breathing. Her antibiotics were stopped, and they continued to take care of her as usual. Right before I came back from school (September 4th), Ruby had a relapse and her breathing became bad again. When I got home, I took her to the vet, and he gave me more ENROFLOXICIN. She was showing no signs of improvement, and yesterday (September 15th) at around 8PM, she was literally GASPING for air, and spitting up mucus. I took her to UNIVERSITY OF PENN vet, which is supposed to be one of the best vets on earth (also the most pricey, unfortunately). The vet confirmed that she had a very bad case of Pneumonia, and she recommended that Ruby stay there on oxygen and be sent to their exotic animal department in the morning. She also explained to me that Ruby had a small chance of survival over night. To keep Ruby at the hospital, the vet said it would cost me over $1500. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford that, after having spent almost $500 on her already. They spoke to me about putting her to sleep, but I couldn't bare that either. I did what I could and asked them what I could do to make her comfortable with me over night. They sent me home with two different antibiotics, DOXYCYCLINE and TRIMETHOPRIM/SULFAMETHOXAZOLE (twice daily for both, .33mL and .21mL). I came home with Ruby, and I could tell she was very sleepy. I made her her own cage up to sleep in without having to deal with her rambunctious sisters. She ate a little, and went to sleep. So here's where my question comes in. My Ruby is a strong girl, and she's still here. Her breathing isn't as horrible as it was yesterday. She's still breathing heavy, but she's not gasping anymore. She is eating and drinking. I would like to get her an oxygen tank, and treat her at home with me. What would I need to do? What should I keep her in? What amount of oxygen do I use? And finally, I'm leaving in 3 days, will she be okay to travel for 6 hours to bring her home with me?Also, I have a nebulizer, but no albuterol for it. Is there a mixture I can put in the nebulizer to help her? My Aunt suggested a pinch of salt and water. Any suggestions? Also, I'm having a hard time getting her to take the Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole... do you think it would be okay to mix it with some honey and give it to her that way? Or should I try something else? more

Resolved Question: COULD ANYONE HELP ME WITH MY PHP ANTI GRAVITY THESIS PLEASE?

I did post this at the CompuKer programming/anihalation section a few weeks ago but the response was poor - so now that they've let me out again for the the weekend, ( on good behaviour - ha ha ha! ), I'll try here for more help again. After much research I now have a practical method of testing out my ANTI-GRAVITY theory - yes, ANTI-GRAVITY - which is widely known in scientific circles as; ZILOGS32's MURPHIC PRINCIPLE of RESONANCE and first published in New Scientist April 1st 2001. I will be putting this thesis forward for my PhD and require some 3D animated modelling calculations/suggestions. I am using Carrara Pro 6 from the DAZ Studio environment and in Physics mode. My theory is based on Murphies Laws of Physics. Murphy tells us that, ( amongst many of his well trusted/used laws ); 1. Buttered toast will always fall buttered-side down. 2. Cats will always land on their feet. Now, after modelling in 3D, what I propose to do is find a suitable height such as a tower block of around 40 levels high. Then measure accurately the dimensions of various slices of buttered toast and cats. I will do this by immersing them in a suitably sized vessel of water and taking a reading of displacement - providing volumetric dimensional values. From this we can calculate weight and mass etc. These measurements will then be used to set the trajectile force of my firing device. We now fire a specimen of toast off the tower and then a cat. Both will obviously follow a parabola through the air of which we then use calculus - differentiation for the rate of change - integration for the area under the parabola - which will enable us to find a dimensional match for the next stage of the experiment. This will, of course, require quite a number of slices of toast and cats - a problem I will address at the end of this post. This stage is the crucial one and encompasses all my research. We now SUPER-GLUE a selected slice of buttered toast to the BACK of a selected cat, ( the toast is glued butter side up of course ). Then, ( just to ensure accuracy ), we immerse the toast/cat combination in the water vessel again and take readings and make weight/mass calculations taking into account the results obtained from the previous individual toast and cat experiments. Then we simply set the trajectile force accordingly and FIRE! What I expect to see is that the toast/cat combination will NOT LAND AND WILL HOVER/RESONATE IN MID-AIR - Hey-presto - ANTI-GRAVITY! This is because if the toast lands buttered side down then it is in violation of Murphies laws because the cat is feet up. By the same token, if the cat lands on it's feet then the toast is buttered side up - another physics violation and therefore impossible. Now my learned friends, to my immediate problems. I can supply the tower block, the firing device/mechanism, the water vessel and a limitless amount of toast/butter, ( not forgetting a calculator/computer software ). COULD SOMEONE PLEASE SUPPLY THE CATS? Could someone also assist me in the 3D modelling calculations for animation? The practical uses of this are immense. For instance, you can design a slice of toast, ( buttered of course and with the correct amount/mass ), cut it into 4 and glue them to each paws of a pre-measured cat. Then place this combination under your car and your car will levitate - no need for jacks anymore - enabling you to do maintenance etc. The applications are unlimitied! Your help in this matter would be gratefully appreciated and you can sleep peacefully at night knowing how much you have contributed to science. Thank you for your time, Regards. PS. Please do not fall into the trap of thinking that stripey cats will travel off the tower block faster cos they have built-in 'go faster stripes' - RIDICULOUS! PPS NO CATS WILL BE HARMED as I will make sure there are suitable landing facilities like a mattress - should be enough! PPPS Yes, I know all about those sites that have similar ideas like this. But I tell you this, those people do not have a grasp on reality cos I contacted one of them and they did'nt even know that Star Trek is the best reality show on TV. Ok, yes I do know that it's not really live cos it takes a few days for the singals to reach us but.........Twisted... Your logic is flawed! How many slices have YOU tried and how many - in numbers not stats - did they use?Big Bob: Fascinating. Meesterb...: Get a life as you don't know what humour is - and the silly answer to your beans! more

Resolved Question: Do you pay attention to how your overall self is perceiving your environment?

Energy vortexes can be in the air, the land, or bodies of water. They can also be found in man-made structures such as towns, businesses, and institutions. Have you not felt these vortexes as you travel – places that make you feel expansive, loving and joyful, and yet also to places that make you feel constricted, sluggish, or drained? You understand these feelings through intuition - from a conscious level how your own physical self is reacting or becoming affected by the energy. Start paying attention to how your overall self is perceiving your environment. Subtle clues are there if you choose to listen – just trust you have these innate abilities to discern energy around you. Your thoughts and intentions are energy, too. You have felt an angry thought or a negative emotion. You also know how it feels to have a loving thought or express compassion and kindness. Think about how this feels in your physical body. So, even within you, you have vortexes of energy just based on the thought or feeling you hold within. What kind of energy are you exuding tonight? more

Resolved Question: Are regular ship's bad for the environment?

I am worried because I love nature and really care about the environment and I know a lot of thing's cause pollution :(. I have a friend in England who I may want to visit in a year or so, but I dont want to take a plane as I know they are terrible for the air/environment and I couldnt walk or bike from here, (Im in Canada) :P :( and I dont see any other way except for a boat - I am wondering if regular, (not 'Cruise'), ship's are bad for the environment and water? At first I thought they wouldn't be 'as' bad and they would be more natural, plus more of an adventure. Does anyone know if they are really bad? And if so, what would be my best option for the environment to travel? Me & my friend also want to travel, but even further than England, and that might pose even more problems :(. I feel very confused over this matter, please help! more

Resolved Question: Why Do We Need Cars At All?

Before WWII, very few Americans owned cars. Cities were dense, walkable, and well-connected with electric trolleys. MUCH less energy was spent on the simple act of getting around. Our national train system was the envy of the world, so people could travel to most destinations without a car and businesses could ship merchandise without the need for trucks. Once again, MUCH less energy was spent for travel and shipping. We now live in a society where you almost HAVE to own a car to function. Car companies dumped the cost of road building and maintenance on us to keep this system running. Retailers have dumped the cost of shipping/delivery on us as consumers. We have to buy a car, maintain it, insure it and fuel it just to go to work, school, church and the grocery store. It makes no sense. We could do all of these things without cars, save ourselves the money, and enjoy better health and air quality. Sprawling suburbs are directly correlated with growing rates of obesity, heart disease and diabetes. Kids can't walk to school or any other civic function anymore. I've heard it said that corporations such as Wal-Mart require this living arrangement, calling it an "economy of scale". Well, cities can be scaled up as well as out, and logically, why should we foot the bill to keep Wal-Mart in business? Why do we need cars? Why not highly-efficient mass-transit, biking and walking (like many international cities)? If you feel it's because of "the market", please explain why most American cities have zoning laws that prevent walkable, car-free neighborhoods from being built. Please explain why car-free environments such as Disneyland or Venice are so popular. I want to know why we really NEED cars (not WANT them). more

Resolved Question: What do you think about Sylvia Browne's 40 predictions for the next 100 years?

1. Eradication of cancer as we know it, using sound waves, photo sensitive drug therapy, and "self-addicting" cells. 2. Robotic houses, controlled by computerized switchboard. 3. Electrical cars with flotation ability for water travel to bypass freeways. 4. Houses made from pressed paper with plastic coatings; interchangeable walls 5. Separate body parts cloned for organ transplants; not an entire body. 6. New form of painless tooth extraction, using a type of suction, with immediate replacement of new tooth. 7. Diagnostic chambers which map the body's electrical balance to predict health problems before the come. 8. Cylindrical rooms in which people enter to see an automated projection of the clothing and color that would look good on them; select what you want, take your measurements, then two days later pick up the goods. 9. Third floor of houses have rollback roofs to allow Hovercrafts to come and go. 10. No more surgery with knives. Some type of molecular ionization device that knows how to take out the afflicted cells then seal the wound without a single scar. 11. Remolding of the whole face structure, to duplicate any look that you wish. 12. New exercise equipment that you sit or stand in, and it literally stimulates your muscles with electricity to achieve the same effect as physical exercise. 13. Babies will be birthed in water all the time, with music, incense, and green and lavender lights. 14. People will be able to simply "walk out" of their bodies upon death. 15. There will be no US Presidency; our government will go back to a Greek Senate structure. 16. No longer a single Pope, but a triumvirate of Popes, each assigned to a geographic collection of Catholics. 17. Peace in the Middle East will prevail by 2050. 18. West Coast goes under in 2026. Parts of the East Coast also get inundated. Tsunamis will wipe out a large portion of Japan. The Hawaiian Islands will have upheaval and be the site of a large new landmass. 19. Atlantis will begin to show itself by 2023 and be fully visible by 2026. 20. After 2050, the "Age of the Messiah" is upon us. People turn totally toward Spirituality, peace will rein for a long time. People will return to community living, loving each other, and working together. 21. Treatment for depression and mood disorders will come from a "control chamber" that emits sensory stimulation gently to the brain, including certain smells, which will elevate mood. 22. Medicine in pill form goes away; instead we have air-injected delivery through the skin. 23. Atomic batteries will run cars. 24. Peace will last from 2050 until 2100, and then I see nothing beyond, which could mean "the end will come like a thief in the night." 36. Toward the end of things, the veil separating our world from The Other Side will thin, so much so that most people will see decease loved ones and speak with their Spirit Guides. 37. There will be many false prophets that rise up proclaiming to be Jesus on Earth, and try to lead people astray. We are already seeing this in the big rise of occultism. 38. People will again find Spirituality, not so much in organized religion, but in the spiritual brotherhood of coming together and finding their Temple within. 39. Four more comets will pass by before the end times. 40. Aliens will begin to show themselves in the year 2010, they will not harm us, they simply want to see what we are doing to this planet. Resolved Question: Delta Airlines broke FHA rule?

What recourse legally do I have if Delta Airlines broke an FHA rule? Please read below. If you think that I should receive a full refund then please send Alex P. Roger at Delta.OnlineSupport@delta.com a message. Please copy paste this letter into your message. Thank you very much if you do send a email to Delta. I am hoping enough people will help me and in return help yourself if you ever have an issue with the airlines in regards to an obese person taking up your seat. I have nothing against obese people. I was kind to this gentleman, but I did not have a seat. And if the policy is that Delta makes obese people purchase an extra seat then they should make them purchase it. They did not catch this so now they should refund my flight cost. I understand there are obese people in this world. But Delta should have provided me and my girlfriend with a seat, arm rest down and a seat belt. None of these things were given to me after I paid for a ticket from Las Vegas to Philadelphia. HERE IS THE LETTER I WROTE TO DELTA – THREE TIMES _ I RECEIVED A RESPONSE THREE WEEKS AFTER MY LETTER- Dear Delta, On June 12th - flight 1236 - from Vegas to Philadelphia, I had a very horrific experience. I did not have a seat for over 4 hours. I did not have a seat belt on either. An obese gentleman sat next to me. He kept pushing his arm into me even though he already had half my seat. He pushed up the arm rest - against FEDERAL AVIATION REGULATIONS- and sat in over 70% of my seat. I had to move my girlfriends arm rest up, take off my seat belt and we both shared one seat. Neither one of us had a seat belt on the whole flight. It was uncomfortable and hurt both of our backs. We had back and knee pain for about a week due to this flight. The Federal Aviation Administration does require passengers be able to sit belted and with both arm rests down to comply with safety standards. Delta airline did not comply with safety standards. I told two different stewardess that we could not wear our seat belts and that the arm rest were up. They were pleasant and told me that they could not do anything about it. One of them gave me a twix for my troubles. I would like a full refund for both our seats-and voucher for both of us for a future flight. There were no other seats open so we were jammed together in one seat. And the back pain was very uncomfortable a week later. I am 6ft tall and had to put my legs on an angle to fit properly. Do you have a policy for obese people? The stewardess were very nice but told me that they could not do anything. They told me to write to Delta and that you would compensate me. LETTER I RECEIVED BACK FROM DELTA - Dear Mr. ####, Thank you for contacting us. On behalf of everyone at Delta Air Lines, I sincerely apologize for the challenges you and your companion encountered with your seat assignment on your recent travel. I can only imagine how discouraging it must have been when after requesting a better seat you had to experience such a disappointing situation. I am truly sorry your seat assignment adjacent to a large passenger affected your comfort. We do care about the well being and safety of all our passengers and strive to provide them an enjoyable and comfortable cabin environment. Please allow me to explain that we rely on our team members at the gate to identify passengers who may require additional space. Our policy states that any passenger who requires more than one seat for personal comfort must purchase an extra adjacent seat. Part of our problem is that most passengers now obtain their seating either online or at a self-service kiosk, and our agents do not have an opportunity to meet our passengers until they board the aircraft. (THIS IS A LIE>>> NO ONE ENTERS A PLANE WITHOUT HAVING TO HAVE YOUR BOARDING PASS SCANNED !) However, in the event we notice a large passenger boarding we should attempt to reseat that passenger or request that they purchase an extra adjacent seat. Again, I apologize this passenger was not identified and respectfully decline your request for refunding ticket and compensation. Sincerely, Alex P. Roger Delta.OnlineSupport@delta.com Coordinator Customer Care AGAIN I WROTE ALEX ASKING FOR A FULL REFUND – Dear Mr. ###, Thank you for writing and allowing me the opportunity to further review your concerns. On behalf of everyone at Delta Air Lines, I am sorry you were dissatisfied with my first response. I understand you feel I did not adequately address your concerns. I was happy to review your comments again to see if there was something I missed. Respectfully, there is nothing more I can add. I am sorry to disappoint you, as I understand this is not the answer you were expecting. Mr. ####, again, I apologize. Your support is important to us, and I thank you for your additional time and effort. We look forw more

Resolved Question: Royal financial report: Private Jets and the environment?

This is not a rant, but I think there is a missed opportunity here. In the fiscal year end report of the royal family the travel costs have gone up considerably. The travel expenses of the Queen, Prince Andrew, and Princess Anne all dropped by substantial amounts, but Prince Charles costs zoomed 50% largely because of expensive jet charters to promote his environmental causes. - The most expensive domestic jet charter was £33,400 for an overnight trip from London to Belfast City on 20-21 May-2008. That is a distance of 310 miles each way. In contrast, Ryan Air gets £8,500 in ticket sales each way, and another £5,000 goes to taxes and fees if it fill every one of 189 seats on it's Boeing 737-800 that flies from Stansted to Belfast City. ------------ My question is if he is going to give public lectures on environmental awareness, would it be possible if he could rent a sexy little turboprop to do these short flights. I know they are only 9 seaters, but perhaps some of his staff could fly commercial. Their economical cruise speed is 368 mph, but they can go as fast as 455 mph. http://www.piaggioaero.com/#/en ---------------------- Businessmen can rent a 4 seat air taxi (no private bathroom) for £2,600 that can fly out of Northolt Airport (same airport the royals use) and go anywhere in the UK same day return. That may be undignified for royal use, but isn't there some middle ground between dignity and concern for the environment? Prince Charles can set an example for the business community. ============= BTW, the highest "per mile" charge was £8,885 to go one way from Humberside airport to Northolt (139.5 miles). That is almost nothing but takeoff and approach. I would think that they would normally use their helicopter which can cruise at 215 mph and fly for almost 400 miles. Perhaps it was busy or in maintenance. ============= The report does not list the type of aircraft, but I assure you that it is a big one for that price. Do you think he is missing an opportunity to show some concern for the environment?PLZ do not compare with the cost of transporting the POTUS. He is the most expensive person in the entire world to move (even a hundred miles). They usually have a half a dozen helicopters for security and to confuse anyone with a shoulder launched missile. When he goes out to dinner he could probably buy the restaurant for what the security detail costs. The BAe 146 that the RAF has been using for the past 25 years carries 116 people in "tourist configuration", but is configured for 19 people in "executive configuration". The RAF jet can protect from infrared missiles. ------------ However, the RAF jet is getting old, and the royal family competes with the ministers. They are increasingly chartering private aircraft, even for domestic flights. So the royal household wants to purchase a newer version of the same aircraft. (but still used since these aircraft have not been manufactured for 7 years) for royal use only (no ministers). ------------------------ I am saying it is a large jet for domestic use, considering the very short distances. more
