Help please. I bought 2 Michael Jackson Tribute Concert tickets fro Vienna, which has now been cancelled, or postponed to an unknown location and date next year. I phoned the company that sold me the tickets and they said that I won't get any refund. This was a HUGE sum of money (2k) and basically the man on the phone hung up having said 'did you read our terms'? I then looked on the internet to find everyone complaining about them. Their website looks OFFICIAL and wonderful and the person I spoke to in the first place was extremely helpful and promised me the tickets were being held for me as my credit card hadn't gone through. I called my bank and they said it was just a normal 'out of usual pattern' purchase and so needed confirmation from me. I got it sorted and the money went through. I nearly booked my air Travel but luckily found out that it had been cancelled. I then rang the online ticket shop to find out what to do and they said that I won't get any money back. I am devastated as a friend was coming with me and paying for the second ticket and so it was affordable. I have now potentially lost 2000. Can my credit card company help? The online ticket shop terms and conditions are not in any way reasonable (and yes, I was incredibly stupid to buy from them!) but please don't berate me for this stupidity... just let me know what course of action is open to me if anyone knows? I will call the card company on Monday but their office for dealing with this is shut until then and it is unlikely I will sleep and am distraught.I didn't receive the tickets because the transaction had only just gone through by a day. I do not know the status or original price of the tickets although they were GOLD VIP. However, the email that came through from the company didn't state what I had bought although their site was showing the price in various bands and these were the most expensive - but their email didn't even show that I had bought GOLD VIP so to be honest they could have given me the cheapest standing seats and I probably wouldn't have stood a chance at the refund. Can I take them to court? Whilst I might los all that I could gain, the principle is pretty huge too. more

ive always booked my air tickets at a travel agent or direct with the carrier but i saw a deal online that would save me $1000.00 cdn. The company is an online company called cheapOair.com..It seems a little hard to believe that I can save $1000.00 booking with them vs a travel agent or online direct with the carrier. I checked with www.philippineairlines.com but when i checked with cheapOair.com they have the exact same carrier (Philippine air) and the exact same route,departure etc. but again $1000.00 less...Im wondering if there is a way of finding out if this is a legitimate company and if there are any hidden charges they may not be listing. more

Resolved Question: Plane ticket - middle name typo when booking?

Does anyone know whether this is a big problem? My wife booked international plane tickets on Ryan Air from London to Dublin and she spelt my middle name (which is on my travel documents) wrong by one letter - instead of "iu" she spelt it "ui". The rest of the name is fine. Also, to go to Ireland you need to enter your passport details online, so there's no way they can say it's the wrong person. To do an online name change it costs me 95 pounds, which is more than the price of both tickets combined. I still haven't called Ryan Air yet but will do so first thing in the morning. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I've heard some people say it's fine but others say you're screwed with just one typo. I'm worried that they might force me to pay to change or refuse boarding. Is it worth even trying to change it? more

ok I'm going to Fl. feb 25th and im bring my 9mos old i just want to know what the rules are for the planes now. I haven't been on a plane since "1998" and i know the rules have changed a lot . I heard so many stories of there rules now and I'm a lil nervous that i will bring something and i wont be able to get on the plane or i'll be late. Okay so, I'm looking at paying for an old friend of mine to travel out from England to visit me in Canada for a few weeks. Problem is, I'm not so comfortable with simply sending the money over for them to book with. Is there a way I can book a flight online and have it set up so they can either receive the ticket in the mail, or pick it up at the airport near them? I'm looking for the simplest way possible. I don't even know how online booking normally works, as I've never flown before. I have this question from my homework: A fish is 20m from the shore of a lake. A bonfire is burning on the edge of the lake nearest the fish. a) Does the fish need to be shallow (just below the surface) or very deep to see the light from the bonfire? Explain. b) What is the deepest or shallowest, depending on your answer to part a, that the fish can be and still see the light from the fire. The answers, according to the back of the book are a) deep and b) 18m. My problem is that I don't understand why the fish would need to be deep. I originally thought that a ray would refract reaching the fish's eye by the surface, but according to another answer I found online, the answer involves finding the critical angle, but I'm not really sure how the critical angle situation works in this problem, because the original medium, is air and it is traveling into water, so there should be no total internal refraction and no critical angle (according to my understanding), but it seems this method is essential to solving the problem. I'm not asking anyone to solve the problem, just please provide me with the right logic if you can. Thank you. more

I booked my tickets through travelocity last month for Aug 15, at that time price was cheap like $123 taxes and yesterday i got the below mail from travelocity and so i check my reservation, its showing $600. I am not able understand their email wordings, i contacted customer service...they were not helpfull. does the below mail says that i need to pay the rest amount ? they didnt charge my Credit card or if i leave it will they collect in the air port or some thing like. did anybody have experience like this The mail from Travlocity. I'm planning on going from Baltimore to Denver last week of August (23-30), and would like to use the train since it is cheaper and more eco-friendly than air travel. I have two problems booking online: 1) Most of the promotional codes I have used have failed. Is there anything, even something as low as 10% off I can use? 2) I often run into problems with confirming trains, with the webpage stating "the use of the back or forward buttons on the browser..." even though I did no such thing. They featured Katherine Lester, a pretty 18-year-old American woman who travelled to the West Bank to be with Abdullah, a 22-year-old Palestinian man she "met" on the Internet when she was 16. This was the second time that Katherine had flown to the Middle East to see the young man; on the first occasion, in response to her family's objections, she got as far as Amman, Jordan, before being picked up by the FBI as a minor and escorted home. The first episode showed videos of the star-crossed youngsters in Jericho holding hands and staring lovingly into one another's eyes declaring they wanted to marry much to the horror of Katherine's mother and sister, who shared the stage with Dr Phil. The mother said she feared the boy had brainwashed her daughter or was keeping her from going home against her will. Dr Phil made a meal of the fact Katherine's life could be in danger in the Middle East and said he would do everything in his power to get her away from him and back with her mother. And he did. When Katherine joined the show alone via satellite he treated her like someone who had been kidnapped even though she protested her happiness and told him she intended returning to the US very soon. Later, when Abdullah joined her, Dr Phil berated him for disrespecting her parents, criticised his parents for sending Katherine an air ticket, and repeatedly asked him why he hadn't been to the US embassy to request a visa for the United States. He then badgered the girl to return to the safe arms of Uncle Sam on the coming Friday and insisted he would send an escort so that she could fly from Tel Aviv airport. It was evident Katherine didn't want to leave and, in fact, the Dr Phil show bought several tickets home and sent several escorts before she finally agreed, only to arrive home to discover her mother and sister hadn't bothered to turn up at the airport to greet her. He even went so far as inviting Betty Mahmoody. author of the book Not Without My Daughter, onto the show so that she could warn Katherine of the dangers of hooking up with a Middle Easterner. She is still in hiding from her husband after 25 years, Dr Phil told his audience in an obvious attempt to paint all Muslim men with the same brush. That could have been you, he scolded Katherine. No wonder Abdullah thought the pop psychologist made him look like "a bad guy" even "a terrorist." Last Sunday, Abdullah had the opportunity to give his side of the story on the MBC1 chat show Kalam Nawaem, a sort of Arabic version of The View. The female hosts rounded on him for not properly defending himself or his culture on Dr Phil, and then he dropped the bombshell. According to him, the pair had married but Katherine hadn't wanted to admit this on TV. So the "possessive stalker" Katherine had referred to had actually been her husband. i found a price quote from CLT (North Carolina) to SJO (Costa Rica) in the amount of $431.50 total (including tax and booking fee) online on www.itasoftware.com. the website stated: "If you want to buy this ticket, it's probably best to use a travel agent (this ticket involves multiple airlines, which can get complicated)." after the statement it gives booking codes, so a travel agent can get the price for the tickets. My problem here is the fact that i've never gone through a travel agency to book a flight..and i'm already on a tight situation with money for the flight and i really cant spend much more...how much of an increase is it to go through a travel agent to purchase these air tickets? more

I am Gemini lady. I met a Virgo man online and we emailed each other a few times and have chatted a few times before we met in person. How do I travel to Gimpo Airport? Distance, time and cost by high-speed train, bus or taxe? Where to buy train ticket? Easy to get it? Can book online or can only buy tickets there? My cousin wants to fly my mother & aunt (his mother) to visit him in South Korea. He has provided us with his AMEX number to purchase the airline tickets however he said that his AMEX gets Delta miles &d wants us to purchase Delta which code shares with Korean Airlines. Looking online for both airlines as well as other sites it looks like Delta is $200 more per ticket even though they are code sharing. If we book directly with Korean Airlines will my cousin still get his Delta miles or do we need to purchase through Delta at $200 more per ticket? Thanks so much! more

This question really sparks my curiosity of how the public deals with there travel. I'm wondering how many of you only check various websites because of the thinking "Online is always lower in price"? Or if you go just through a favorite Travel Agent? OR do you check between websites & a Travel Agent? A while back online travel booking engines undercut travel agents to show consumers that "Online is always lower". Now though, there are many websites that are raising prices and many consumers who only book online - that's it - are paying higher prices. I have seen this myself and some of the examples have been from consumers bringing them to my attention! I will be the first to say that sometimes when it comes to domestic airline tickets - online might be lower than an agent. Hi I am booking air tickets from Delhi to Denver. While I searched on some websites the total cost is coming around 45K. But when i consulted a traveling agency they said it is 53K + 2.5% extra if i pay by debit/credit card ? So I m paying higher when I m going through these travel agencies. However while I m booking air tickets on internet, it only asks for my name as the identity and no passport details which is a bit scary. What shall i do with this? This is really just a rant in the guise of a question, but if you have an answer, please chime in: I'm a US citizen, and a veteran, living and working overseas. When it comes time to fly home for vacation, it's virtually impossible to book a ticket for a domestic flight, because no one will accept my credit card: it has a "foreign billing address."
