Open Question: Bringing food on an airplane?
Hi, I'm travelling across the country tomorrow, and I have a very severe gluten allergy. I know there's absolutely no chance of me buying gluten-free food on the plane, and I doubt I'd be able to find anything safe and filling at the Pearson airport. Do you think I'd be able to bring a metal thermos of risotto with me in my carry-on? I'm flying with Air Canada, all flights are domestic. Thanks!Scarlett--I intend to, but my first flight is at 10 a.m. and I arrive at my final destination at about 9 p.m. The Pearson is my midpoint. Thanks, though! moreResolved Question: Planning trip to Canada, please help.?
I am looking to make this trip go as smoothly as possible. My trip will be to Quebec, Canada. I intend to go via air within the next few months. My friends and family have never gone outside the states, and thus cannot provide much help. That said, I would just like a little insight from people who have actually flew there and back. I have already acquired my U.S. passport, and read basic information about the trip. There are a few outstanding concerns that I could use a few pointers on. 1. Are there any other sort of documentations that I MUST bring? I have my U.S. Passport and a Valid TX Driver License. 2. When exactly do I present the passport? Before I ever board my first plane, or whenever I actually arrive in the Canadian airport? 3.My biggest concern, customs. I don't think I fully comprehend the exact procedures of this. From what I've read, once I reach the Canadian airport, I will be required to report directly to the customs area. In this area, there will be two lines, "Declare" and "Nothing to declare". I could use a detailed walk through on this issue, if it is not too much trouble to ask. I plan on bringing only clothes, a leather jacket (though most likely not, as it will have warmed up by the time I take this trip), my cell phone/charger. Perhaps deodorant and cologne, but I can always buy some while I am there. Would I need to declare any of these items? I think my problem lies more on my lack of knowledge on what I MUST declare, and what is not necessary. The fact I've read I can be charged up to $400 for each undeclared item worries me. Also, duties/taxes- of any of the previously mentioned items, would I need to be paying some sort of fine for bringing them? 4. The return trip, I have no clue what this will be like. I've gathered I must again go through customs, but when? I've also seen that I must apparently show them all items I've obtained whilst in Canada and intend on bringing back with me. What is the exact process of all this, and what fines, if any, can I expect? Sorry for such a drawn out question, but as I said, no one I know personally really can offer any assistance. All the travel websites give some answers, but as I said, I'm looking for more of a personal experience as opposed to technical travel information. Thank you so much for all help given! moreVoting Question: Does Air Canada show live sporting events?
I am travelling from Vancouver to London today. The flight leaves at 6:30pm. The Canucks game on at that time starts at 6:00pm.. Will Air Canada be showing the game? moreResolved Question: what think of my essay beginning ?
Smoking is a hazardous killing habit, that may not affect a teenager now, but in the future to come. Not only will it affect there future, but it will damage there overall health and decrease there chances of having a healthy long life. Further more a teenage smoker will not just affect there selves and there health, but there families and friends near by. Smoking may not just be a way for looking cool in this day and age, it appears to be from the pressure surrounding it. It is theses consequences that teenagers do not face until it is to late, thus it is fair to say that choosing to start smoking as adolescents is the worst decision a teenager could make. Researches say that most teenagers who begin smoking, know the risks of smoking tobacco, but why do they keep going. The reason most adolescents smoke because "they do not think about next month, next year or five years from now, they tend to live in the moment". When faced with danger or health risk, they think it will never happen to them. The American Lung Association estimates that every minute four thousand eight hundred teens will smoke there first cigarette. Of those four thousand eight hundred, about two thousand will be addicted to this awful habit. The reason that this habit is so addicting because of the nicotine substance in the tobacco. Nicotine is one of more than 4,000 chemicals found in cigarette smoke and 50 of these chemicals cause cancer.(bellenir13). Most cigarettes in Canada contain ten to twenty milligrams of nicotine per cigarette. The average smoker only in hales about one to two milligrams of that nicotine, yet this may seem to be a small amount but it has a large impact. When nicotine is inhaled it travels through the bloodstream to the brain in less then 10 seconds and then through the rest of the body.( 34). When nicotine reaches the brain it increases the amount of acetylcholine in the brain, which increases the amount of message to the brain cells , causing the smoker to have a rise in energy level and be able to pay attention or focus( 34-35) . Nicotine also increase your dopamine to make you happy and calm. Lastly it can also increase production of endorphin your body pain-killing proteins. This how a cigarette becomes addicting , as theses feelings only last thirty minutes after finishing a cigarette. There is strong evidence that smoking tobacco cause two dozen disease and illness. About one third of the two thousand teens who are addicted, will die promptly from a smoking related illness in the future. These diseases are usually hundred of different kinds of cancers, such as lung cancer, kidney cancer, cervical cancer and cancers of the mouth and throat(55) . Not only does smoking give the smoker cancer, but the friends and family near by inhaling the awful chemical fumes from the cigarettes. There is about 4,000 chemicals found in cigarette smoke, two thirds of the chemical fumes from a cigarette is not inhaled by the smoker, but enters the air around the smoker. These chemicals are five times more carbon monoxide, nicotine, ammonia (found in window cleaner) and arsenic (found in rat poison). When bystanders inhale this chemicals it is called secondhand smoke. Bystanders may only smell the smoke for 30 secs, but fumes stay in the air for 30 minutes. Every year in Canada 1000 non smokers die from second hand smoke(Net1). These premature deaths are usually from lung cancer, coronary heart disease, and severe asthma(bellenir) . Second hand smoke may be dangerous for everyone, but especially with children and pregnant women. Children exposed to second hand smoke are at risk at SID's, ear problems, slow lung growth, and respiratory symptoms. moreResolved Question: POLL: Which Airlines have you travelled with?

I know that I can travel between the United States and Canada by air, land and sea using only my I-551. Can I use my I-551 to travel to France? I will be going to Paris during this summer for two weeks. It will be a big help if I can travel using only my I-551 especially because I am missing a lot of my proof of Philippine citizenship and will be having a lot of trouble in obtaining a replacement for a lost passport at the embassy and a travel document from the USCIS is too expensive. Other than my I-551, Social Security Card and California identity documents, all I have to prove my identity is one National Statistics Office-certified Philippine birth certificate. For some strange reason, they need two certified copies, a Philippine-issued identity document, the lost passport number, a police report for the loss of a passport, and a baptismal certificate...Why the hell would they need a "baptismal certificate"?!?!?! Anyways, thanks! moreResolved Question: Is $1,109.53 a good price for flight in June? Toronto to Japan / Korea to Toronto.?

Hello! I apologise if this question has been asked before, but I'm having trouble finding out if my passport is valid for travel to the USA under the Visa Waiver Programme. I am travelling from UK -> Canada -> USA -> UK in Jun 2010. My passport was issued 14/08/2004 and appears to have a machine readable strip, however I don't have an electronic photograph. Am I exempt from needing one if it's this old, or will I have to update my passport? I don't want to get a new passport as my current one has all my nice, exotic visas in it! Also, I am not flying directly into the States, but will either be coming by air or train from Vancouver, Canada, so I'm not sure if this will affect eligibility for VWP? Would I have to apply for a B2 visa? Many thanks in advance! Nush moreResolved Question: USPS - Straight to Canada or Destination?

IT's CUTIE♥! WHAT do you think of my story?
A small woman with long black, silky hair and a large red hat walked along Oakland steet in Greenville, Canada at exactly 3:42 pm on November 2, 2000. The air was chilly, a gust of wind swooshed past blowing off her big red hat into the street. The woman chirped nervously and ran in the busy road to grab her hat. She looked up after picking up her hat to see a large, blue truck coming towards her, honking. The woman let out a yelp and closed her eyes. Strange magic, the car stopped before it could hit her. The woman didn't feel anything during the next few seconds so she opened her eyes. There was the blue truck, not moving. She slowly walked to the corner of Oakland street. Hysterical with emotions, she couldn't understand how she hadn't just been killed. The woman kept walking along the road. With a large boom, she had accidently ran into someone. Her hat had blown off again this time and landed in the road again. The human she had bumped into glared evily and pushed the woman into the road mocking her by yelling very rudely. The woman grabbed her hat and looked back to see that the human who had just been very rude was waiting for her. She walked back onto Oakland steet and saluted the human. The human told the woman that she was very unhappy that she'd bumped into her. The woman apologized and walked off with her red hat. The woman had made it to Yorktown steet after walking less than half a mile. Hundreds of High School students walked around, pushing, talking, fighting and yelling. The woman looked to her left and saw a High School. A student walked up to the woman and pushed her out of the way. The woman peered over, feeling sadness in her heart. She moved on. The woman continued walking until she found a bench at a grassy public park. She pulled out a notepad and a pen and began scribbling on her notepad; not thinking about what she was scribbling. An older woman, just about in her 40's, walked over to the woman and sat down on the bench she was sitting on. The older woman pulled an apple out of her purse and asked the woman if wanted a small snack. The woman smiled and said she would have half of it; half for you and half for me. The two woman smiled once again and enjoyed their apple snack. Then the older woman asked what the woman was scribbling. The woman said she wasn't sure. That it was just an expression of how she felt right then. The woman looked down at her scribble and thought it was starting to look nice, and not just like a small scribble. The woman tucked her notepad and pen into her purse and said good bye to the older woman. The older woman smiled and waved to her. As the woman walked along, she began thinking about her occurrence with the older woman and began writing down lyrics. It read; I want to thank you, for giving me the best day of my life. I close the door behind my back, and I'm soaking through and through. Then you handed me a pass, and all I see is you. Even if my house were to fall down now, I wouldn't have a clue, because you're with me. Feeling upset from the other mishaps that had happened this day, the woman realized that a small and short kind guester from a stranger can brighten up your day. As the woman continued walking, the air began getting more chilly and it started to sprinkle. She pulled out her umbrella and stopped at a bus stop. The rain changed into a downpour within the next 10 minutes and by the time it began to thunder, the bus arrived. The woman walked in and took the bus to where ever it could take her. She wanted to travel the world and experience small events in her life just as this. To this day, she is somewhere in our world, in an unknown place. WHAT DO YOU THINK??????????YOU MEANIES!!!! I will be traveling from the UK to the USA sometime during August 2010. I have been debating whether to buy my ticket now or closer to the date. I have kept my eye on the prices and they seem to be going up. However, I just decided to check now and I am considering using Air Canada. When I go to the Air Canada Website I get the price £748 but when I do it through NetFlights.com I can get the exact same flight for £362 which is obviously a huge saving. I am going to be taking a three-month work assignment in another province and of course my dog is coming with me. It will be about a 2 hour flight to get there. My dog will be 8 months old by the time we go (beginning of March) and is currently just over 8lbs. I know that I can fly Air Canada and that they do allow small pets in the cabin under your seat, so all of that is fine. She is also used to traveling in a carrier, as I have used one in the car for some time now. She does the 4-5 hour drive to my parents with no trouble whatsoever. She has not, however, ever been on a plane. I wondering how she will do all the time sitting around at the airport too. Has anyone managed to let the dog have a bathroom break before boarding? As luck would have it, I was scheduled to fly from Montreal to Atlanta when rules on carry-on restrictions had just been put into effect. Knowing how perilous air travel has become these days, most of us politely obliged the pat-downs, the cancellations, delays, the meticulous hand checking of our essential carry-on items and the double security checks. The TSA screeners, who examine your luggage and shoes at the airport are employees of TSA, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security. So far, they have not been allowed to unionize, basically because the same reason as the PATCO strike had to be ended. They, as a union, could cripple the nation's security and air travel just by going out on strike, or even going into sick time mode. We don't let the SEALs unionize either, or the Marines, or the Delta Force, or the Secret Service. They are, like air traffic controllers, employees of the government, but national security trumps socialism in some cases. So having a more perfectly socialist society is less important than having a society in the first place. Society, per se, comes socialist paradise society. Another way to say it is, "You have to be alive to be a Left-winger, so life comes before ideology." Obama can't see it. For him, the true fanatic, nothing comes before socialism. He's like Lenin, or Mao, or Che Guevara, or Fidel Castro. Life itself is meaningless without socialism, and more socialism every day. Though the Christmas Day attempt on a Detroit-bound jetliner is increasing calls for a permanent head of TSA, DeMint shows no sign of backing down. Today his office sent reporters a document in support of his view. Granting collective bargaining rights to the TSA's 50,000 screeners, it argues, "would reverse the flexibility given to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to perform its critical aviation security mission. I have worked in this area. I know a little about it. I was around when TSA was created, and when DHS was created. I can say it's always nice to have a figurehead at the helm, but the Federal system is arranged so that it can function even without a "head of TSA per se". There are layers of Deputies and Federal Executives that can step up and be Acting TSA Administrator. But letting the TSA employees unionize is irreversible. It would gravely and permanently harm the security of USA. Obama wants to do it -- because this is not a country he cares about. He thinks USA should be taken down a peg or two, and put in its proper place as an obedient servant to the UN, and to the Developing Nations, and to the Moslems, and to his old pals at ACORN. But what do you think? Is unionizing TSA more fundamental to the national interest, or is national security more fundamental. Is Jim DeMint right, or is Obama right? I would like to take my rabbit on but she is technically not allowed because she is not a cat or dog. fortunately she looks a lot like a cat so i want to say she is a cat, the only problem would be if i had to take her out of her carrier. i would just like to know if at any point you need to take your pet out of the carrier prior to boarding the plane. moreResolved Question: What that cheapest place to fly to and from in the world.?
I have a month to hitch-hick anywhere in the world, and be back to school on Jan 11th. I figured that if it was taking to long to get back I could just fly back. But I live in Michigan's upper peninsula, and air fairs here are up the wall. I'm sure in a months time, I could get just about anywhere, but getting there and back; well I don't want to miss the first day of school, and that might be pushing my luck. If I could get to Canada, or Mexico, would flying be cheaper there? Is there a better place to fly into that is within 1,000 miles of michigan, like Chicago, New York, Milwaukee, etc... I hear traveling in Europe and Africa are really cheep, Would a plane ticket over there from Guatemala be a lot cheaper than from here? I think riding to Guatemala fun anyways. Thanks for all the suggestion, **Stupid people are not allowed to comment.Yes, I have a passport. If a country need a visa, I'll just find some illegal way in. and last time I traveled for four and a half months, and I spent 32 dollars, 30 of that was on a nice back packing backpack. So I think money won't be an issue. But I do thank you for you concern. Why is it that some flights require a notarized parental consent while others don't. Well long story I pretty much feel like my parents just don't want me to live with them and my siblings. When I was 15 they sent me from Canada to Algeria and seperated me from the family. I have gone though alot over the past 2 years. I am now 17, and the only flights that I know of who let you travel without parental consent or anything at the age of 15 and up. Since I am 17 I do not need parental consent to fly using American Airlines, but the problem is when flying with American Air lines I have to fly from the UK to Chicago and from Chicago to Toronto. So I would need to fly from Algiers to the UK which is unfortunate because American Airlines does not have any flights from Algeria to the UK. So I would need to use British Airways. Has anybody flied using British Airways? Do they require a notarized parental consent. Can this be forged? {if they do require it} Also, when flying to the UK and from the UK to Chicago or New York, how are the US customs? How are the UK customs? Is there any easier way to Toronto? Perhaps cheaper flights and faster that let you travel at the age of 17 without any sort of parental consent? Thanks to all the Yahoo Answers CommunityAir Algiers goes direct to Montreal but they need notarized parental permission.I am travelling on my Canadian passport by the way moreResolved Question: I'm using my aeroplan miles to travel from Toronto to HK and bought my OWN ticket HK to Manila.?

I am a student looking to buy a bus within the next 3 to 4 years (after graduation) to travel across the United States and Canada. This trip will probably last up to two years and will require driving over 35,000 miles. My loving girlfriend will be accompanying me as a large part of our goal will be to find a suitable living arrangement somewhere in these great states. Anyway, my question is to anyone who has any experience with BUYING, SELLING, or OWNING a metro bus. I'm not particularly interested in those with experience in driving or riding a bus. Also, I am looking for a METRO bus. NOT a vw mini-bus or a school bus. I've given this a lot of thought and that's what i want. So basically, can you help me find this bus? - probably used - fair condition (under 300,000 miles) - under $12,000 - over 10mpg - air conditioning, not wheelchair accessible, with some sort of a/c adapter. - preferably a 14-20 seater (in reference to size, the seats will be removed) Anyway, if anyone has any information that would help me, including: - where i could buy one - who i could buy it from - how much i should pay ...it would be very much appreciated. :) (not a google search please, ive already done that.) moreResolved Question: Am i allowed to take my twin pushchair when travelling with air canada.?

I won a trip to Malaysia through an official Tourism Board in Canada. I would love to go there as the itinerary is fantastic, so many things to see and experience...but I am actually really nervous and worried. Malaysia has an official "high caution" travel warning on it...it always does and so do most Asian travel destinations. I am blonde, white, and an attractive female as part of a travelling group going there. I'm unsure as there has been kidnappings, criminal attacks and such there. Additionally, the flights are on Air China..one of them is 14 hours long. I researched some on Air China and it doesn't seem to be the best airline out there and the safety rating is not very good. I am a person that thinks very positively and expects the best..but there is obvious concerns here so I am not sure if I should pass up this once in a life time opportunity. Any advice, I'd appreciate. Take care and enjoy your travels! moreResolved Question: I won a trip to Asia! Safe to go?

There has NEVER been anyone in the White House at any time who has created such an army of staffers whose sole duties are the facilitation of the First Lady's social life. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense, when even Hillary, only had three; Jackie Kennedy one; Laura Bush one; and prior to Mamie Eisenhower social help came from the President's own pocket. Yes, I know, The Canadian Free Press has to publish this because the USA media is too scared they might be considered racist. Sorry America! Assistant, aide, helper, secretary or minion.Swirly, the web site you took me to, is about Michelle Obama. Crown Royal, Urban Legen?, No matter how many different ways, I tried to look up the info about Laura Bush, I could not find it. But for the sake of argument, if this is true about Laura Bush, shame on her. We did not elect First Ladies, we elected President, and they should not cost the taxpayers enormous amounts of money.Blonde, Thanks, I stand corrected. However irregardless, no matter how you look at it, we did not elect a First Lady we elected the President, and they really should not be costing us millions every year . The President, is not a king, monarch or emperor etc. He is a servant of the people, and NO MATTER WHO IS IN OFFICE. They should not be costing us millions and millions. These people's mantra is "They want to serve", well serve, don't cost.Well Hippo, while you were condemning me for lack of back bone, that's exactly what I was doing.
