Aruba Vacation Prices Questions asked

Resolved Question: What's the best spot for a Caribbean vacation, bang-for-your-buck-wise?

The girlfriend and I are looking for a 5-7 day Caribbean excursion. There are so many options on the table we feel we are spreading ourselves too thin in our search, so we'd like to narrow. Here's what we are looking for (in order of importance): 1) A price tag under $1600 when all is said and done. (Flight, hotel, food/drink, activities...everything) 2) Beautiful, not-too-crowded beaches with clean, clear water. Access to secluded areas, and kid-free beaches would be great. 3) A variety of activities. While the greater part of this trip will be beach relaxing, we definitely want a couple days of adventure. Specifically: snorkeling/diving, jungle tours/hiking, rafting/tubing, ruins and landmarks, off-roading, fishing, etc, etc. I'm a nature boy, so I'm more interested in off-the-beaten-path stuff as opposed to cookie cutter tourist trap stuff. We want nice amenities, but don't require 5 star. We are 31/26, so are down with a bit of nightlife, but aren't going crazy. If anyone has suggestions on destinations, and maybe even resorts or regions within those destinations, we would greatly appreciate the advice. Also, recs on where NOT to go are also great. Here is our current, broad list: Costa Rica Belize Riviera Maya Aruba Puerto Rico Bay Islands (Honduras) Virgin Gorda (Little Dix Bay) Turks and Caicos Bahamas US Virgin Islands Jamaica Dominican Republic Trinidad/Tobago Feel free to talk up or talk down these spots or add to the list. Thanks in advance! more

Resolved Question: Why Nassau?????????????????????

I've been to mexico, cuba, dominican, jamaica, aruba, st marten, hawaii.... and then I went to nassau because everyone says it's amazing. WHY is it so amazing??? everything that you find in nassau you can find in so many other places plus so much more, so WHY do people pay the overpriced vacations to nassau??? when they could go to hawaii (which is soooo amazing)... or even to aruba or st martenn which are beautiful. Whats so special with nassau? Atlantis is nice and the beach there was nice but to me not worth the price compared to what else you can get for the same cost. more

Resolved Question: HELP! I've got 2 free plane tickets and want to plan a vacation, tropical and inexpensive, where would you go?

THIS IS A BIT LONG< READ ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE TIME TO HELP ME DECIDE: THANKS! First of all I don't want to sound like I am complaining here, just confused on where to go. I realize I am very lucky to have the tickets! The plane tickets are for anywhere in the U.S. plus Cancun, Bahamas, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Aruba. Most of these places outside the U.S. would be too expensive though in terms of hotel and food for me right now for two people, so where else in the mainland U.S. could I visit that is somewhat near a nice beach, maybe some shells, and isn't too expensive for a hotel there and food? I only have about an extra 1,000 for a 3 day trip somewhere for the hotel and food and spending. All I want to do is spend some quality time with my husband and sit and watch the waves, drink a tropical drink at a tiki hut, swim in a huge pool and possibly take a boat out to a little island to find some shells. (Otherwise I also have free hotel rooms at any Harrah's hotel in the U.S. so I guess they have Harrah's in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, New Orleans, Phoenix, and other places more inland in the U.S. That would be very cheap then since I would then have free air and hotel, but none of those places is really that tropical!) I could also choose to fly to New Orleans or Miami and try a 4 day cruise. Upside of that: fairly cheap and could see Key West AND Mexico ! And lots of food all included in the price Downside: I've never been on a cruise , sometimes there are hidden costs to consider, tipping, extra excursion, etc. and I wouldn't get into the pool with tons of people, no privacy, and could seem like I'm stuck on a boat with a bunch of drunks since I heard the 4 days cruises are "party cruises". Again see I'm totally stuck on what to do and where to go with these tickets! Anyway if I don't do the Harrah's free hotel thing or the cruise then, I was thinking possibly Pensacola, Florida since it is supposed to be cheaper and they still offer the touristy things to do there, but not sure if that might be too boring. Do you have other ideas that could work? I wouldn't mind using the free tickets to California but then the hotel prices are just too high. And Virginia Beach is supposed to be nice but I'm not sure if it is expensive to visit and I know it won't be as tropical as Florida or Cancun of course since there will doubtfully be tiki huts and tropical drinks/ not sure though? Also lots and lots of people say go to Cancun but I worry about a few things: crime to and from the hotels, crime at the hotels, crime going to dinner in the cities and I'd hate to see children begging on the beach on my vacation or stray dogs starving to death running down the beaches. If you've gone there, is that what you've encountered ever? Some previous yahoo people said that was what it was like, not fun for a vacation then. Someone recommended a place calledCancun Palace (p.s. my research shows: Le Blanc in Cancun looks amazing if you have more money than me for the trip!), someone else said Myrtle Beach, others Key West? Has anyone been to Key West lately, do you have any quiet beaches or are they all packed with crazy tourists? If I can't come up with a trip that my husband would also like, then he said I should just use one of the tickets to fly to my niece's wedding in Minneapolis and wait for the other ticket for something else ....BORING use of the 2 tickets I say, and then I might never go on the somewhat more "romantic" and "relaxing" trip with my husband. I think I'd rather just pay for the wedding ticket for myself separately.Sooooo ...... if you could go anywhere, where would you fly for a fairly inexpensive vacation with my 2 free tickets? I'm totally stumped on what to do and where to go! Thanks for any input!TRVLLADY- THANKS, my husband just said the same thing, make a list to help decide....so your advice was right on target since I am stuck. And I will look into Virginia Beach more extensively then as well! more

Resolved Question: Honeymoon options - help me pick!?

My fiance and I are tying the know on June 20th. I will only have about a week of vacation time off work for the honeymoon itself. We have discussed waiting until June 29th to take our honeymoon. Then we would only be gone until July 3rd and we wouldnt pay the high prices for Independance Day travel plus we could spend a few days at home by ourselves afterwards. However, leaving on June 21st isnt out of the question either. Here are several vacations that we both would like to take: Las Vegas (Bellagio) 3 Day Norweigan cruise (balcony room) to Nassau, Bahams Caribbean Vacation (Puerto Rico, or some place like that. Aruba seems to be very pricy) Beach (Myrtle Beach, Clearwater FL, or some place similar) Italy (Amalfi Coast is beautiful. Florence or Venice, either) Orlando (not disney. It would be Universal, discovery cove, seaworld, etc.) Now you can either rank your list, or just name your #1 pick. Please dont give other suggestions (unless theyre flippin awesome and youve experienced them 1st hand) and dont try manipulate me into Disney World...Ive been many ...many many....too many times and my fiance used to work there. lol Thanks guys!oops! I forgot to also mention to please give your date preference. Immediately after the wedding? Or a week later? And why? (i.e. "I went a week later and it gave me time to rest." or... "It's way more romantic to leave right after the wedding.")AND I would like to add that Italy is about a thousand bucks out of our budget.....I just couldnt bring myself to exclude it.... :( more

Resolved Question: Recommendations on a tropical vacation spot?

I am looking for a recommendation on a good tropical vacation spot. My wife and I have been to Aruba, St. Marten, the Bahamas, St. Thomas, San Juan, Los Cabos, and Hawaii (Oahu, Maui, and The Big Island). By far our favorite vacations have been to Hawaii, but the price of air fare puts that out of our budget range this year. We are looking to go somewhere we haven't already been that is tropical, has a nice laid back atmosphere, has good beaches and snorkeling, and will not break the bank. The duration of the trip will be one week. Any recommendations on an island, or location, and a place to stay would be much appreciated. BTW, our budget this year is in the $3k range. Thanks in advance. more

Resolved Question: Cruise or vacation destination?

My fiancee and I are having trouble deciding whether to go on a cruise leaving from Galveston, TX and stopping at Montego Bay, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, and Cozumel, Mexico for seven nights, or if we should just pick a destination spot and go there for the whole time. We live in Dallas and we would have to factor in driving down to Galveston if we were to decide on the cruise. My fiancee and I have never been on a cruise and do not know what to expect really. We're wanting some place tropical and were thinking maybe aruba or something along those lines if we picked one spot. Any suggestions/concerns/experiences? The price difference between the two is really not a factor as my parents are picking up the tab. Thanks in advance!I guess I should have clarified that it's for our honeymoon! Sorry! more

But seriously guys, she asked me to look it up and idk where to start..she told me to check out the florida keys if aruba seems like too muchLMAO Hearts, I go to Phuket enough..i dont want to go there anymore more

Resolved Question: Island for a birthday in January?

I am going to celebrate my birthday in January with my girlfriends and I want to know the best island to do this. We are into nightlife (partying and gambling mainly), nice beaches, pools (preferably with a swim-up bar), and great food. I was looking into the Bahamas, Aruba, St. Thomas and Puerto Rico but I'm open to any other suggestions. Also, I was told that it's not that hot in certain islands in January, especially the Bahamas, which I was interested in for the nightlife and booze cruise! Any feedback regarding this vacation would be greatly appreciated. I'm so confused... Also looking for a reasonable price as we're all struggling college students  more

Resolved Question: nice vacation packages from Atlanta?

Hi--my husband and I have recently moved to Atlanta. We have taken those all inclusive package vacations in the past to Mexico and Aruba and had a blast. Can anyone recommend a nice Carribean place or package from the ATL to try next with reasonable prices? Would like something middle of the road as we can't afford the absolute best, but don't want roaches crawling in our bed at night. Also we would be interested in independant travel if we could keep within about a $3-4,000 budget as we enjoy culture, too. Thanks!! more
