Heres our situation. We are expecting a nice some of money, approx. $7000. We are using some of it to pay off student loans, but with the remainder we want to go on a nice vacation. We've gone to Aruba and Jamaica and although we loved Aruba and liked Jamaica, we are looking for something different. Can anybody give us any ideas? Europe, Asia, Africa, the South Pacific, and South America area all places we want to go so nowhere on the globe is off limits for us. Resolved Question: My Ex is still trying to control me and he is out of town. Help !?

My ex just went away to Aruba. A trip that had to be planned in advance because you have to take a plane and he had to make sure his time share was available. He did not tell me about this trip or when he was going. We have joint visitation and per our court order he had it listed that "each parent is allowed one vacation a year without our child," which I'm fine with. (not to mention he has already taken his 1 vacation this year and I choose not take mine without my child) When I emailed him to get it in writing about the dates of his trip, I remined him I was 9mths pregnant and I just need to put arrangements in place for our 8 year old in case I go into labor. Example: so she can be picked up from school. The day after Thanksgiving I sent this email with know response from him. I found out from my 8 year old when she said "Daddy is coming over to say goodbye." That he was going away that night and that she was going to go to his mothers to cover his visitation days. He never told me. His mother then tried to get out of watching her, which was know surprise, knowing her history. My 8 year old got extremly nervous and was afraid daddy was going to get mad. I was scared to keep her home because of how aggressive he is to me, but wanted to since I would rather have her with me all the and was relived when his mother declined to watch her. I figured that her father can't get mad at me now. My 8 year old knowing how her dad yells at me all the time, tried to avoid the future conflict and hid to call her Nana- then pleded to go over her house. In the end, I felt bad for my 8 year old and allowed her to sleepover her Nana's house, with the agreement it would be for one night. I just got a text message from her father demanding that our daughter stay at his mothers, that I am not to pick her up and that he already told me where she would be. - the problem started because he never told me He is in Aruba, out of state and I want to pick my child up and feel there is know reason for her to be at his mothers when I am perfectly capable of watching her and want to. If he had called me to tell me of his anticipated vacation I would have told him that I want to have her. He choose not to tell me. It seems like he was planning on leaving for his vacation without telling me and then remembered I was due to go into labor and he got nervous, probably figuring this would look good for me in court, if he left on his visitation days. Now I want to go pick her up tomorrow, but since I am afraid of him I am nervous for when he comes home that I am going to get yelled at or that I am going to get abusive text messages until he returns home. I am pushing 30 and am trying to work on sticking up for myself when it deals with him, but it is so tough when my 8 year old unintenionally gets put in the middle. What would you do ? more

DH and I want to go on a relaxing, low-key vacation next spring. We want to lounge around, sit on the beach with a drink and maybe go on an easy excursion (just maybe). We have been all over the Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Europe, and North Asia (Hong Kong, Taipei, Korea) 3) Beach access to good snorkeling and/or scuba diving. Boat diving is fine, but we are not looking for a seven day scuba dive boat trip. We have no children, so no children requirements. We also can go anytime in 2010, so please also suggest a good time when to go (best weather, warm, etc). E.g. I read that Maldives is great in Feb,Mar,Apr. Me and my friend (16) are going to the caribbean next march with our moms. we want to go to an all inclusive hotel that has very nice pools, a very nice beach, and good food. My son will be 2 years old the end of June, and my fiance and I have been wanting to plan a vacation, we've decided to go to Aruba, my parents agreed to taking my son for the 4 nights/5 days that we will be gone, but the other night my mother was a little hesitant and brought up to me that she was concerened about how it would affect my son us being away from our son for that amount of time. I've taken this into consideration too, and feel that he would be okay, he LOVES grandma and grandpa, and we lived there for his first year, so he is very familiar and comfortable with them. He has slept over his aunts occasionally for one night at a time, and has done just fine. But, I don't want to leave if us going will cause any long-term affects on him? or issues with separation anxiety? He's a great baby, but LOVES mommy and daddy, and I just want to rest assured that if we do go on this trip he will be okay. I don't want to go and end up having a horrible time because all I can think about is him being upset that we're gone. Any advice? Has anyone left their toddler while they went on vacation? It would be Universal, discovery cove, seaworld, etc.) Now you can either rank your list, or just name your #1 pick. Please dont give other suggestions (unless theyre flippin awesome and youve experienced them 1st hand) and dont try manipulate me into Disney World...Ive been many ...many many....too many times and my fiance used to work there. lol Thanks guys!oops! I'm thinking about going to Hawaii ( we were in Aruba on our honeymoon and loved it!). I am currently planning my honeymoon. We are going in October (5-15) and we are looking for an island in the Caribbean that will have a slim chance of a hurricane, as well as very little rainfall. I know that a hurricane shouldn't be my main concern, but rainfall really is. I don't want to get to a beautiful island and be stuck in my room. My question is what island would everyone suggest? i booked a "dream vacation" as a graduation gift for my daughter, online and what looked to be a great vacation turned into hell. My family and I are planning a vacation in December or January and we can't decide between Jamaica or Aruba. We've been to the Bahamas but want to go to a new island deeper in the carrib. My sister and I are in our early twenties and the parents are fifties. We like: Nightlife, clear water beaches, lots of shopping, music, entertainment, lots of people, huge and beautiful resort hotels, safety, swimming pools,good food, younger crowd. Where should we go? more

Resolved Question: Family Vacation...Caribbean w/ teens?

There are going to be 7-9 of us travelling... 6 are between ages 17-20....there is also a little boy age 6... The teens are hoping to spend a day at the beach and be able to swim...and also go out at night to clubs... We have been to Ixtapa, Cabo San Lucas, and Cancun... Our favorite was Cabo (especiall because of the weather) We are looking into Puerto Vallarta, Punta Cana, Jamaica, or somewhere else in the Dominican Republic... St thomas, Aruba, Barbados and Playa Del Carmen have also been suggested... Please let us know youre experience w/ weather, night light and activities...we are hoping to go in late December... Also-- name nice hotels...not leaning towards All inclusives but if they are over the top..feel free to list them... Also trying to keep a budget of less than $8000 more

We are looking to visit a tropical destination in Sept, Oct or Nov - so far our vacation share only has properties avail in Aruba. The flights seem so expensive - $800 from Dallas/Ft. Worth to Oranjestad. Is this right? more

After our new years discussion, he committed to telling me when he heard from her, she lives in a different state. As a family we took a trip to Aruba, he claimed he called her and said he was going with his kids and "spouse" (never called me that before) and felt good about himself that he told her he was with me. Remember he met her in Sept. and this is now Dec. when the trip happened. I found out about her before new years. At news years time he also told me she was coming to our state for vacation in Feb. I remembered this. She called him 2/22 from airport in our town, he could not see her as he was out of town. This past Wed. he had to travel by car. He set up a lunch meeting with her at a favorite rest. of ours. Claims all they did was talk, she flirts with him saying how hot he is etc. They hugged and he kissed her on the lips like a sisiter. I knew non of this until the next day. Had sick feeling intution all day and asked on Thurs. He lied and lied until came clean. more

Resolved Question: Future vacation: Mexico vs. Bahamas vs. Caribbean vs. FL etc...?

Beginning planning vaca for 2010. Will me me, hub, daughter will be 15 then and maybe a cousin same age. Want to go on school break either around Thanksgiving, Christmas or spring, and somewhere WARM. What's important: clean place, prefer all-inclusive, nice sandy beaches, not that rocky shore like you see in parts of Mexico, water activities, small ticket shopping-souvenirs etc, not thru the roof expensive, family oriented place, not a wild banshee spring break place. What's not important: nightlife, spa services, room service, historical ruins, rum distilleries, hardcore hiking etc. Hub won't cruise--daughter and I just returned from our first cruise and loved it but now we need to plan a family vacation. I hear Hawaii is too expensive, Bahamas are for the rich also. Jamaica was nice for a day, wouldn't want to stay there longer. Liked Cozumel except for the rocky shore. Aruba is super windy. Don't know much about FL except for Orlando and Daytona. Suggestions? Thanks!Costa Rica man you sound like my brother! He's always trying to talk me into CR too. He goes and does all kinds of crazy hardcore outdoor stuff so I figured it was all swimming with gators and drinking beer and smoking weed there. No? There are nice beaches and family atmosphere?? more

Resolved Question: Is it safe to take Amoxicillin if you are allergic to Penicillin?

My mom is currently vacationing in Aruba (our only way of contact is through cell phone conversations and text messages.. Here WiFi is total crap out there so I'm looking it up for her..) and got a UTI while she was there.. She was given Amoxicillin to treat it. My dad now has the symptoms of an early UTI.. He is allergic to Penicillin. There are no LOCAL doctors and any doctors they can go to do not speak English and translators are hard to come by.. If he takes Amoxicillin, is he at risk of a reaction?Thank you!! I finally got the damn doctor to call me back and he said the same thing... DO NOT TAKE IT.. He's giving him Bactrim. THANK YOU THANK YOU! You were all very helpful... I can't choose a best answer yet because it hasn't been long enough! LOL more

Resolved Question: nice vacation packages from Atlanta?

Hi--my husband and I have recently moved to Atlanta. We have taken those all inclusive package vacations in the past to Mexico and Aruba and had a blast. Can anyone recommend a nice Carribean place or package from the ATL to try next with reasonable prices? Would like something middle of the road as we can't afford the absolute best, but don't want roaches crawling in our bed at night. Also we would be interested in independant travel if we could keep within about a $3-4,000 budget as we enjoy culture, too. Thanks!! more

My Husband and I want to take a trip to an all inclusive resort. Our budget for flight and hotel is $3,000 give or take a couple hundred.I have looked into cancun,aruba,bahamas,and places like that, but I can't make my mind up they all look good..need ideas and suggestions.. We want to go somewhere with lots do do, activities and entertainment on resort as well as a good and fun night life..Somewhere where there are casinos maybe..Basically we are looking to let our hair down and have some fun and forget for 7days that we are someones parents! more

Resolved Question: Does anyone know what the weather is like in Aruba in March?

We go to Aruba every year in April, but friends of ours want us to move up our vacation and go in March this year. I have heard that March is a "rainy" month for Aruba. I know they don't get a lot of rain per year, but I've heard March is when they get more than usual. Does anyone know if this is true? We will be taking our very precocious 18-month-old daughter with us this year and don't want to have to worry about finding lots of things to occupy her indoors for the week. :) more
