Bahamas Air Questions asked

Open Question: Tropical Vacation ideas close to US?

My family is looking to take a vacation this summer (2010) to somewhere tropical, and not too expensive. It needs to be close to the US, somewhere near cuba, so the plane tickets aren't too expensive. I've never been out of the country before, so i'm not really sure where I'd like to go (i'm the kid in the family btw). I want somewhere that "has it all." Beaches, pools, activities and fun! We'd be going in mid to late June most likely. Any ideas? Going to the Bahamas was up in the air, but I need some more tropical countries close to home THANKS! more

Voting Question: Help with Tropical Vacation?

I'm looking to travel in the middle of may for a week with my fiance. I would like some ideas for all inclusive resorts. Im open to anything Mexico, Bahamas etc. I would like a place that has a variety of restaurants and bars. (Just no cruises) I'm looking to spend around $800ish a person with air fair. So, if you have any resorts that you've been to and loved, please let me know! more

Resolved Question: plane ride while pregnant ( 30 wks ) HELP!?

Hey! Well my wife and I have planned a Bahama cruise, because a good friend of mine works at the Atlantis, in Paradise Island, and we are getting his discounted prices. Anyway, my wife is also pregnant, at the moment she is 27 weeks, and we don't plan on going until she is around 30wks. All the cruise lines will NOT except us, due to she is over 24-25wks pregnant. So now our only option is flying, if that is even allowed. What is the cheapest air line that will get us to bahamas with her being that far along, and having a small child, over the age of 1? .. We know her doctor needs to okay that she goes, he has already okayed it thus far, but he wants to see her a few days before our planned trip to be on the safe side more

Resolved Question: Is Vacation Adventures International a scam?

My girlfriend just won a 3 day 2 night trip to Freeport, Bahamas. Airfare is included for 1 person. Reading through the initial paperwork, another airline ticket MUST be booked through the same travel agency. They want an $89 processing fee before they tell you anything. Is this a scam? Has anyone ever dealt with this company? It would be nice if this was truly a genuine free trip, but my gut instinct is that its a scam. Somebody has to be making money. We don't have a lot of extra money to through at a vacation, but if its cheap enough it would be great to have actually won a trip. Seems to me that all they bought for us is 2 nights in hotel and an air ticket. How much is taht worth, versus booking an all inclusive? Thanks in advance more

Resolved Question: Should I submit this for my Standard Grade (Scottish exams) English Prelim folio?

Danger in the Deep It was a beautiful day in the Bahamas. The palm trees were swaying, the crystal blue waters were shimmering, and occasionally you could see a couple of fish dart past. We were walking along a road just next to breath-taking beaches following a diving instructor, holding our oxygen tanks, flippers and mouth pieces. The oxygen tanks were very heavy and a few people in our group were walking in a comical fashion, because there wet suits were probably too tight. We finally reached the pier to which our catamaran was tied. I glanced down the pier to see the watermark where the tide was at his highest. Scattered all the way below was dried up seaweed and pretty shells. As I looked further down I saw that the pier was far longer than I had thought, stretching probably another 15 meters under the water. We walked down it and then clambered onto the boat. We all took our seats and then we set off. Slowly we started to go faster and faster until the boat was smacking off of the waves and our bums hurt. Our attention was caught by a pod of dolphins leaping out of the water. They were so graceful and beautiful. It just made me feel so lucky I was to be here. Then, just as I was getting used to the motion of the boat, the instructor slowed down until we stopped and got out of the cabin. “Okay everyone, go and get your oxygen tanks and flippers, and then, I think we will be ready.” I heaved on my oxygen tank and formed a line with a partner. Then I sat on the edge with my partner, and fell backwards. The water rushed over my head and immersed me in the tropical blue waters of the Bahamas. We all gathered together under water and got or partners again and swam off. I swam along looking at all the beautiful coral reefs and the vivid coloured fish. It all went really quick and I could have stayed out there for far longer. But I suppose we had to because it was starting to get a bit darker. We just started swimming forward slowly when I realised that my air tube was caught on some coral. It wasn’t a big deal so the instructor just swam down and was going to take it off. And then we saw it - a flash of silver darting past. Panicking, the instructor tugged at the pipe, it just wasn’t coming off. Then I spotted another silver flash behind us, and then to the left. I tugged really hard and the coral broke, setting me free. As I turned around, all I could see was blood in the water, and then the body of the instructor floating upwards with his arm detached to his body. I suddenly realised that my oxygen tank was running out, so in desperation, I swam back to the dead remains of the instructor because I know that they had bigger tanks than us. So I took his tank and pulled mine off and put on his. I felt really selfish doing this, but it’s not like he was going to need it. I swam back up slowly, as I knew that I would explode if I went up too quick. As I swam up upwards so painfully slowly I knew that the shark could get me at any time. I finally reached the top. Then I realised that I was stuck in open water by myself… A day past and I was shattered, because I didn’t dare to sleep. My stomach was wrenching as I hadn’t eaten anything for ages. My head was sore from not drinking anything and I probably would have lost more from diving. I was so tempted to just drink the water around me, but that would just dehydrate me even more. Now and again I would swish water around me mouth just to stop it being so dry and then I would spit it out. I was so cold, I had lost all feeling in my legs and my fingers looked like they had been in the water for years because they were so wrinkly. I was so tired so I just closed my eyes and tried so desperately not to fall asleep, but I couldn’t help it. I woke to the sound of an engine; which was strange because I couldn’t see one. But the I looked round and saw the best thing in my life, a fishing boat! I flapped around as much as I could, so it could notice me, and it turned and started to come towards me! Closer and closer until it was right beside me. It chucked down a ladder and one of the crew members climbed down and heaved me up, I would have never been able to climb up myself, I was too weak. They took me on and took my life jacket off of me and gave me a towel and water. Then once I warmed up they gave me some soup. Once I got back to solid ground I found out that what happened was that they had mixed up the registers of who was going and who wasn’t and the wrong register had two less people than what there should have been. So they left us out assuming that they had everyone. I can tell you one thing, I’m not going diving again! And also, can you tell me if you spot any spelling errors, because you know how its difficult to spot them in your own writing. Thanks everyone! more

Resolved Question: HELP! I've got 2 free plane tickets and want to plan a vacation, tropical and inexpensive, where would you go?

THIS IS A BIT LONG< READ ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE TIME TO HELP ME DECIDE: THANKS! First of all I don't want to sound like I am complaining here, just confused on where to go. I realize I am very lucky to have the tickets! The plane tickets are for anywhere in the U.S. plus Cancun, Bahamas, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Aruba. Most of these places outside the U.S. would be too expensive though in terms of hotel and food for me right now for two people, so where else in the mainland U.S. could I visit that is somewhat near a nice beach, maybe some shells, and isn't too expensive for a hotel there and food? I only have about an extra 1,000 for a 3 day trip somewhere for the hotel and food and spending. All I want to do is spend some quality time with my husband and sit and watch the waves, drink a tropical drink at a tiki hut, swim in a huge pool and possibly take a boat out to a little island to find some shells. (Otherwise I also have free hotel rooms at any Harrah's hotel in the U.S. so I guess they have Harrah's in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, New Orleans, Phoenix, and other places more inland in the U.S. That would be very cheap then since I would then have free air and hotel, but none of those places is really that tropical!) I could also choose to fly to New Orleans or Miami and try a 4 day cruise. Upside of that: fairly cheap and could see Key West AND Mexico ! And lots of food all included in the price Downside: I've never been on a cruise , sometimes there are hidden costs to consider, tipping, extra excursion, etc. and I wouldn't get into the pool with tons of people, no privacy, and could seem like I'm stuck on a boat with a bunch of drunks since I heard the 4 days cruises are "party cruises". Again see I'm totally stuck on what to do and where to go with these tickets! Anyway if I don't do the Harrah's free hotel thing or the cruise then, I was thinking possibly Pensacola, Florida since it is supposed to be cheaper and they still offer the touristy things to do there, but not sure if that might be too boring. Do you have other ideas that could work? I wouldn't mind using the free tickets to California but then the hotel prices are just too high. And Virginia Beach is supposed to be nice but I'm not sure if it is expensive to visit and I know it won't be as tropical as Florida or Cancun of course since there will doubtfully be tiki huts and tropical drinks/ not sure though? Also lots and lots of people say go to Cancun but I worry about a few things: crime to and from the hotels, crime at the hotels, crime going to dinner in the cities and I'd hate to see children begging on the beach on my vacation or stray dogs starving to death running down the beaches. If you've gone there, is that what you've encountered ever? Some previous yahoo people said that was what it was like, not fun for a vacation then. Someone recommended a place calledCancun Palace (p.s. my research shows: Le Blanc in Cancun looks amazing if you have more money than me for the trip!), someone else said Myrtle Beach, others Key West? Has anyone been to Key West lately, do you have any quiet beaches or are they all packed with crazy tourists? If I can't come up with a trip that my husband would also like, then he said I should just use one of the tickets to fly to my niece's wedding in Minneapolis and wait for the other ticket for something else ....BORING use of the 2 tickets I say, and then I might never go on the somewhat more "romantic" and "relaxing" trip with my husband. I think I'd rather just pay for the wedding ticket for myself separately.Sooooo ...... if you could go anywhere, where would you fly for a fairly inexpensive vacation with my 2 free tickets? I'm totally stumped on what to do and where to go! Thanks for any input!TRVLLADY- THANKS, my husband just said the same thing, make a list to help decide....so your advice was right on target since I am stuck. And I will look into Virginia Beach more extensively then as well! more

Resolved Question: If you have free airfare to either Cancun, Bahamas, Jamaica, Miami for a cruise, etc. where would you go?

Hi, we gave up our seats on a flight home from Florida to St. Louis and the airline gave us 2 free roundtrip tickets to anywhere they fly. We would only have to pay for hotels and food, or if a cruise, just the price of the cruise. We are 44 years old and are stuck on deciding where to go and what to do with our free tickets. Tropical Places Air Tran flies: Cancun, Aruba, Bahamas, Jamaica, Miami, Key West, and I think Cabo San Lucas. We only want to spend about 1200 bucks total for 3 nights somewhere. (This would need to include food and hotel/ or the total price for the cruise). We've never cruised before so I don't know if I'd like that or not. We looked into all inclusive places in Cancun that looked great but don't know which place is best. I checked out Atlantis in the Bahamas but that place seemed overpriced for about 1700 for 3 nights. We heard Jamaica has gone done hill somewhat and crime is a problem, not for sure on that though. Let me know what you'd do and where you'd go if you have traveled to any of these places. Thanks a lot for any information! SierraActivities we like to do: lounge around on a beach, sip drink at a tiki hut, look for shells, eat lots of food (seafood, yum!), take a little cruise to see dolphins or to go to a private island, gamble possibly, see a show maybe, but nothing that 20 year olds like, not too wild of partying etc. , more relaxed and secluded beaches preferably. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Here is a good tough question for me traveling alone.?

Hello,I am a 19 year old male single looking to get away from all this frustration on choosing the right college.I just want to have fun BY MYSELF.I want to get out in the world and escape the hectic United States New Yorker lifestyle for a week.So my question is can anyone help me find a good ALL INCLUSIVE(food, some entertainment and place to stay(cruise ships count as a place)) and round trip vacation to any of these locations: Bahamas Bermuda United Kingdom Spain Italy Germany or the Caribbean. For prices ranging between $600-$900 USD. In the Months of November 2009,March,April or May 2010. Departing round trip by flight or cruise out of anywhere in NY. Seems like a hard match but I think its possible with all the deals going on.A cruise seems more likely because of the all inclusiveness with meals and interior rooms but air fare is getting cheap so maybe there are some good plans for that. Thanks for any responses. more

Resolved Question: USA AT WAR WITH EUROPE? (PLEASE READ BELOW)?

I am doing research for a paper set in an alternate reality and would LOVE to hear the opinions of some AMERICANS, especially servicemen. The scenario is: Without warning the USA launches a surprise nuclear attack against china and destroys it, the Chinese counter attack is ineffective. The world is shocked and outraged by this. The USA then sends its elite and rapid response units to the far east to contain what's left of china. Within a few weeks of skirmishes China surrenders and humanitarian aid is allowed in. This attack is claimed to be in self defence though is used as an excuse to instigate martial law and set up a police state in the US, a shadowy new government has taken over. The rest of the world fears that the US will not stop at this. Russia claims that if the US launches another missile she will retaliate for her own defence and EU intelligence points that Europe is next. Rather than wait to be attacked the EU puts together a secret plan to launch her own non-nuclear surprise attack aimed at the USA's ability to wage long distance war and its militaristic leaders. The raid consists of submarine launched cruise missiles, and long range bombers and air-launched cruise missiles. Within 24 hours a 1/3 of the US air force is destroyed as well as the entire Atlantic fleet and the east coast command centres. Both the EU and US cannot use their nuclear arsenals due to the threat of a Russian counter attack. After five/six months, the EU combine forces have withstood air raids against their colonies in the Caribbean, launched further air raids from these bases to the east coast and have driven the US navy from the Caribbean as well as US ground forces from the Bahamas (Protecting Florida) in very bloody battles. With air bases set up in the Bahamas the east coast and Florida are hit heavily, with the US losing air superiority. The EU is ready for an amphibious invasion of south Florida to build further air bases to reach the central USA and to destroy the oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. The EU hopes this be enough to bring the USA to the negotiating table. NB: This scenario has been heavily researched and is held to be realistic (as far as stories go). The above is only a casual outline. (hope you enjoyed it) YOUR OPINIONS ON THE COMING INVASION PLEASE more

Resolved Question: Bahamas Wedding, suggestions?

I want to have a more intimate wedding, like just my fiance and I, and possibly our best man/ maid of honor. I was looking at this website : http://www.weddingsinthebahamas.com/packages.html the Bird of Paradise Package along with some add ons like: -a small cake for 2-4. -a canopy arch. -have a unity sand ceremony. On a beach. for the dinner afterward (mini reception) just a nice, Bahamian like restaurant. My budget is no more than $5000-$6000 including my dress, his outfit... the wedding packages, my hair and makeup. the air fare for our friends (maybe) - this depends on how much it will cost if its just the bride and groom. air fare for us, and rooms. i was thinking just for this night, cause the package is located in Nassau, and our honeymoon location is on the Grand Bahama Island. the hotel I had in mind just for a couple nights was: Nassau Palm Hotel cause it isn't to expensive, and has jacuzzi/whirlpool in the room. should I do this, or do you have any other suggestions to save me money? more

Resolved Question: please read my rough draft?

i recently got bored and decided to try and make a book.(but not really publish it.)please tell me what you think and give me some tips on how to make it better! Chapter One:"It's Not Normal for Me to Eat" I sat quietly at the head of the first lunch table in the cafeteria. The other girls who usually sat with me were chattering happily about the latest Gucci purses while eating today's lunch, grilled chicken salad. For lunch, i was eating air, as usual. Unlike most of my peers at the Prescott Preparatory School, I was on a strict diet because i was a model for Prestige Modeling in New York. I stared at the other girls with envy while they ate until they were completely full, or until they were full enough to run to the bathroom and see their food again. Claire McCormick was staring at me with her huge green eyes, but she didn't utter a word. "Why are you staring at me?" I asked,a little more nastily than i intended."Isabel, I know you're on that diet, but shouldn't you eat a little?" "You know i can't, Claire." I said with a sigh. "If i want to stay with Prestige,I have to maintain my weight or lose it."Delilah bit off part of a crouton and stared at me with disgust. Delilah and I used to be best friends before i started modeling. She became envious that i was picked for the job, instead of her. I wrapped my index finger around a stray piece of my hair.Trying to resist the urge to eat, i stood up and left the cafeteria, overhearing someone talk about some book called "Twilight." I hurried to my locker while the sound of my new Christian Louboutin heels echoed through the halls. I opened my locker and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I was still tan from my vacation in the Bahamas, but my crystal blue eyes stood out from the rest of my face. I ran my fingers through my wavy, midnight black hair while looking for my literature book. Suddenly, i felt someone wrap their arms around my waist.i wasn't really thinking of the paragraphing, i was just typing as i thought, lol. mrs.edward cullen-- if you have writing talent, let's see you right something that ISN'T about twilight. the only reason i added twilight was because it is everywhere. more

Resolved Question: Air Travel and Big Dogs?

Hey there! I am 13 years old, and my current dog, a Chilean Rat, is growing very old, and my father and I are thinking of adding a new dog to our two person family. The thing is, my father is a business man who travels internationally sometimes very unexpectedly, and I need a stable dog that will be able to travel from cold Canadian climates to warmer temperatures in Belize, Mexico, Chile and the Bahamas. I need a protective dog that is easily trainable, calm, and rather intimidating so I can take brisk walks in unfamiliar countries knowing I have a source of protection. If you can give me a list of breeds you think would suit these traits and if you could give me an average price of air travel with large dogs, I'd appreciate it! P.S: No labs pleaaase.ok, i guess a big dog is not appropriate, so if you can give me a list of small breeds? more

Resolved Question: Can I sue the company I bought my air conditioner from? How would you handle this problem?

I bought a new air conditioner for my home less than one year ago from a local company here in Florida. It is still under warrenty. Two weeks ago I called them to send a technician out because it was suddenly not functioning correctly. It was running non stop and it was unable to keep the house cooler than 79-80 degrees. The technician left after an hours works thinking he cleared a clog. Later that evening the AC started to leak badly in the garage so I had to turn it off. The following afternoon the technician came back and decided I needed a new valve or something. He said he ordered the part but it would take 3-5 business days to arrive. He left, didnt fix anything and the AC wouldn't turn on at all anymore. For 11 days we had no AC. I called the AC company everyday but they insisted I wait for the part. Finally, a new tech came and advised me that the previous tech was no longer with the company. He got the AC running again but the original problem was not fixed. He said he would return the following day. The next day a new tech arrived and advised that the previous tech was no longer with the company. This new tech determined that the first tech clogged the tray when he sucked up debree in the pipes and thats why it was leaking. But he was still unable to determine why it was not keeping the house cool. He is coming back today to work on it. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since the original call. At this point I am extremely frustatrated with this company. They caused they AC to not function at all for 11 days. The temperatures have been between 95-100 degrees during this entire time and we were totally miserable. My dog was panting non-stop for 11 days, the water in my 3 fish tanks was up to 91 degrees. We lost a lot of sleep, The temperature in the house was still 90 degrees at 2:00AM. Oh and now the tech said they can't find the part that was ordered for my AC. And when I asked to speak to the owner of the company they said he was on vacation in the Bahamas...that didn't make me feel an better, needless to say. Can I sue this company for the inconvenience they have caused? What would you do in my situation? more

Resolved Question: What should I do about my sister's behavior?

I just got married about 3 weeks ago. We were set to get married on a cruise to Mexico, however due to the swine flu, the cruise got changed from a 5 day cruise to a 7 day cruise to the Keys and the Bahamas. Due to the fact that I was moving to another city the following weekend and other time constraints, I decided to get off the cruise ship at the last port of call and fly back home (which is actually 15 hours of travel time). My sister got very upset with me and is still not speaking to me. She got teary at the dinner table, left dinner and I have not seen her since (not for lack of trying, however). She will not return my phone calls. My sister said she was upset as her husband had to rearrange his work schedule into a quite difficult schedule (and I agree, that stinks). I remember talking to her on the phone about the possibility of leaving early and she and I even discussed the cost of air fare. I told her that she should have her husband leave early and she said that he was rearranging his schedule to accomodate the 7 day cruise. I do know that he was physically at his workplace, trying to rearrange his schedule when I called her. I feel as though she could have tried to call him and discuss the "leaving early" option with him. She is now angry at me, as she says I have inconvenienced her and that I was rude to have left. She says that I have been selfish. She also is telling other people (not me, as she isn't speaking to me) that I never told her about leaving early- which isn't the case (as discussed above). My questions are multiple: 1. My friends all side with me and say that she is being immature. I am concerned that they are just taking my side as they are my friends. What is your opinion? 2. What should I do about this situation? She won't answer my phone calls and lives about 8 hours away from me. Thanks so much for your input.Just a couple other details- the length of the cruise got changed just 2 days before the sailing date from 5 days to 7. Also, I got the job 3 weeks before the cruise. The cruise had been planned for over a year. more

Resolved Question: What's the humidity like in Florida right now?

My family and I are coming to florida for two days before we go on a disney cruise to the bahamas. We will be arriving on April 30th. Also is the humidity better or worse in the bahamas compared to florida. The only time I have been in humidity was in Cancun, Mexico and I'll never forget stepping out of the airport and getting hit with what felt like a blanket of warm heavy moist air. Nothing like California where we are from. If anyone has any good info please answer this. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: I was called and told I won a cruise to Bahamas! Does it sound familiar, is it a scam?

So i was called at a dinner-hour from a toll free number. I remember a month ago I had filled out a slip with my name and number to win the mini Cooper that was in the mall. So the lady reminds me of this and then she said that I won a free cruise to the Bahamas for two! I was so happy when I first heard but then she said that me and my significant other have to make at least 25K a year. Now we are students and don't go to work, and she said that some else that makes 25 K can claim it for me so that I don't miss out on the opportunity. She also said she needs one hour of my time somewhere to promote some products after which I would get the paperwork for the cruise. She said its free air fair to Florida and all the food and the enterntainment is free as well. All this for just a small tax of 180$ that I would pay right before I would leave. Now, I can't claim it for myself, but I don't want to jeopardize anyone by making them claim it for me and then it end up being just a scam, but then I also don't want to miss out on it if its REAL. I HOPE ITS REAL! WHATS YOUR OPINION? One more thing, she did not ask for my credit card number. Another thing, my best friend won two of these one in Bahamas one in Hawaii (applied for winning a car at the auto show) but she didn't plan when she will go yet. more

Resolved Question: How can I get over my fear of flying?

My boyfriends parents want to take my boyfriend and I to The Bahamas this Summer. Of course I was thrilled to hear this until I realized we would have to fly there. I've been on a plane about 5 times before but since then I have been diagnosed with anxiety and panic attacks and now I have this weird fear of being trapped somewhere and not being able to just get up and leave when I want. The thought of being thousands of feet up in the air and being stuck in the plane terrifies me. What if I start having a panic attack and just want to get off the plane? I've thought about taking a Klonopin before boarding. Has anyone done this before? Did it help? I can't miss out on going to the beautiful Bahamas because of a stupid fear. But then again that fear is messing with my head. What should I do? more

Resolved Question: Me, my husband and kids will be renting a house in Nassau Bahamas in July and I am torn whether or not?

I should bring my small 8 lb dog...she can get clearance from our Vet because she has had all of her shots and her Vet said she will give her a tranquilizer for the 2 1/2 hr flight and she can go under my seat!!! She said people bring their family pet all the time!!! I really don't have anyone that I would want her to stay with for a month and a kennel is out of the question! I really don't think it's anyone else's responsibility and I will miss her terribly...We will be in an air conditioned house and we will have caretakers next door to keep an eye on her while we are out for the day...and we will only be feet from her when we are at the beach..I am torn whether this is the right thing to do!! I don't want her to get sand flees, run away or even become a burden!! My husband and kids think its a bad idea but I want to take her!! I know there are a few of you that live in Nassau what other tips can you give me for the month!!!! We are so excited for the stay in July, it is a once in a life time we want to do it all right, so any advise would be great!! more

Resolved Question: cruise info please??

Me and my sisters age 17-24 is planning to go on a cruise/miami vacation this summer. We want to go on a 4-6 day cruise then relax in miami for 2-3 days. Is there a site that i can go to to get the whole package including cruise, air fare, hotel. Should we also rent a car or is everything walking distance in Miami? Also for the cruise we are planning to take the royal Caribbean and the destination is bahamas. So how does this work? When we get to the Bahamas do we get to choose or book the activities we want to do? If so, where can we do that? Also, will it be expensive? What will we need to bring on the cruise? do we need passport? Thank you more

Resolved Question: best all-inclusive resort for teens?

my family wants to book a vacation (2 adults and 3 kids) but we might be planning to go with our other family (2 more adult and 1 kid) because it would be cheaper (4 people in each room). we are from new york (so we would go from JFK for air). we are looking for an all-inclusive hotel that has reasonable prices that has amazing entertainment as well as a teen club (not just a game room). we are looking to go to dominican republic, barbadoes etc.. (not really cancun, cabo, burmuda or bahamas) somewhere along the eastern coast so airfare wont be a crazy price. we originally wanted to go on a cruise but the prices are crazy. please if anyone knows any good deals we are looking to go in early july for a week or possibly more depending on price. i looked at beaches because ive heard it has great teen/kids clubs but once again the prices are very high. although if anyone finds that a certian room over another is cheaper please share thank you more

Resolved Question: Can you check liquor if you're departing from somewhere that you are legally of age to drink?

K..so.. I’m going to the Bahamas and I’m 19 years old, and the legal drinking age there is 18. So I’m wondering if I buy liquor there can I check it when I get to the air port to fly back home, or will they take it from me? Also something I just thought of..we’re going on a cruise to and from the Bahamas, so will the cruise ship people check what I’m taking back on the ship and stuff? I’ve never been on a cruise, and I don’t know anyone who has. p.s. don’t be mean! Sometimes people are so mean on here. Serious educated answers will be greatly appreciated! If I can't..can my mom? Resolved Question: I need suggestions on the name of my story so far?

I felt the cold, bitter wind rush against my face, as I ran as fast as I could down the long narrow driveway. I could hear the thing behind my seeming to get closer every time my foot hit the ground. My heart was racing a hundred and fifty miles a hour, it seemed, but, I kept pushing myself, I couldn't slow down, it would surely get me if I did. That thought motivated me enough to run a little faster, but, it still seemed to be getting closer. It was getting darker outside and before I knew it I was running in the woods, jumping over fallen trees and piles of brush. I could hear the thing behind me even louder now than before. My mouth was getting dry and my legs began to ache, I didn't think I could go on any further and that's when I collapsed. When I woke up it was morning and the sun was shining bright. It was warm against my face, despite the bitter cold air. I was still lying in the woods where I collapsed the night before wandering why that thing didn't just eat me. Now I am lost in the woods and don't know where the heck I'm at. I don't know where to go. The woods were creepy even in the day time, most of the trees were hunched over or fallen down like a tornado or some other strong storm had gone through it the night before. There were dead leaves on the ground and the sound of rushing water somewhere in the distance. I couldn’t see too far into the woods because of the thick gray fog that covered the ground. I sat down on a nearby fallen tree and started to think about where I was before the thing was chasing me. I didn’t like being in the mountains, isolated, 12,000 feet from sea level. Looking out the back window of the jeep started to make me sick to my stomach the further we ascended up the mountain, but, this is the place my parents talked me into going for Easter vacation. We always go on vacation for Easter, but, we usually go to The Bahamas, not the mountains. This year they wanted to try something new. We arrived at the cabin later that afternoon. The cabin was pretty big. The door opened to the living room and a left turn took you to the first room. Going straight through the living room you entered the dining/kitchen. On the right of the kitchen was a bathroom. Walking through the kitchen to the sliding glass doors took you out to the huge deck with a hot tub and a drained swimming pool. Another bedroom and bathroom was located upstairs. Upstairs the cabin didn’t have a flat roof like most houses, the rafters were exposed, and it was in the shape of a triangle it looked rather nice. The cabin was decorated with painted pictures of the mountains and forests. The furnisher was a bluish green color touched up with small white flowers and green and blue pillows. The fireplace was my favourite item in the house, it, was covered in grey and brown river rock. The owners of the cabin provided us with wood in the shed out back. My parents and my little brother, left about 3 hours after we arrived and unpacked, to the store to get some groceries. I decided to get in the hot tub while they were gone. I got into my bathing suit and stepped in the water and immediately pulled my foot out, I didn’t expect it to be that hot. The next time I started slowly and it wasn’t as bad. The water was almost unbearably hot once I submerged my whole body in it. I was in the tub for about 10 minutes when I saw a strange figure in the woods staring straight at me with big bright red eyes, but, not the kind you see in movies, these eyes were shaped like a crescent moon or the tip of a fingernail. I got out of the hot tub and grabbed my towel to dry off my face to erase any illusions I might be seeing, but, what I wished to be an illusion was still the red eyed figure staring at me. I blinked a couple of times and it was gone, just like that. I turned around and walked back into the house locking the door behind me. I never wanted my parents as bad as I did then. I walked into the bathroom and put my clothes on. I walked in the living room to the jacket closet and grabbed my jacket out, it, was getting chilly in the house. I turned to look out the door again and the figure was on the back deck staring in the sliding glass door. The figure was huge, it seemed to be maybe 10 foot tall. It looked like it walked on two legs instead of four. I could tell it was hairy from the small thin spikes jutting randomly from the creatures body. It ran for the door but failed to break it. I screamed and jolted to the front door, throwing it open and started running up the driveway. That’s all I remembered. My stomach was growling and my mouth was extremely dry, almost like I haven’t had anything to drink in 2 months. I felt the outside of my pockets to see if I could feel my cell phone, but, I had no luck, all I could find was a half smoked pack of Marlboro Menthols and a green and purple lighter that said Jessica along the flat side. Jessica was a tall slim girl. At 18 years old her parents let her smoke as long as sheAt 18 years old her parents let her smoke as long as she kept up her own habit. Now this girl was lost in the woods with nothing to her name but a half smoked pack of cigarettes and a lighter that barely worked. I can fell drops of water hitting my skin getting more and more often with each passing second, until, it was a steady drizzle. When I lifted my arm I could see ice pellets bouncing off the blue sleeve of my jacket. Great it was already cold and now it’s sleeting and raining. All the leaves had fallen off the trees leaving me with nowhere to take cover. I decided that I wasn’t going to get anywhere if I didn’t move. The question was: Where do I go? I decided to go towards the sound of the rushing water to see if anyone lived on the water or if there was at least an empty cabin to wait till the weather got better. more

Resolved Question: Disney Cruise Info and Pricing, 5 people, 2 rooms?

We are planning on going on the 3-night Bahamas Cruise with Disney on July 3rd and I needed some info on it. There will be 2 adults, 2 sixteen y.o. and 1 ten y.o. We dont need the air stuff, just the cruise, but we need the lowest price possible and was wondering what website I could get that on. The 2 guys and the 3 girls will have to be separated, too so I don't know how that works. Also, I have looked at a couple of prices and I wasn't sure if those were per person, so make sure you tell me. Also, we are fine with the inside room without windows. If you have any other info, tips, warnings or anything like that, feel free to put it in your answer or e-mail me. Thank you.also, if you know of anything I can do at the cruise stops, add that (and remember that we're on a budget) more

Resolved Question: Recommendations on a tropical vacation spot?

I am looking for a recommendation on a good tropical vacation spot. My wife and I have been to Aruba, St. Marten, the Bahamas, St. Thomas, San Juan, Los Cabos, and Hawaii (Oahu, Maui, and The Big Island). By far our favorite vacations have been to Hawaii, but the price of air fare puts that out of our budget range this year. We are looking to go somewhere we haven't already been that is tropical, has a nice laid back atmosphere, has good beaches and snorkeling, and will not break the bank. The duration of the trip will be one week. Any recommendations on an island, or location, and a place to stay would be much appreciated. BTW, our budget this year is in the $3k range. Thanks in advance. more

Resolved Question: Emergency travel without a passport?

I need to travel asap to the Bahamas to attend my father's funeral. My family and I would like to travel to the funeral, but was advised that we all need passports. We are all US citizens and I am the only one that has a passport. I would be traveling with my husband and four kids. The youngest is 10 months. Can they travel by air on the birth certificates? more

Resolved Question: If you are getting married far away, should you pay for the guests to come to your wedding?

If I live in Seattle, as does my family, but I want to get married in the Bahamas, is it polite to pay for people to go? I was only going to invite close family, maybe 10 people total, so is it customary to pay their air and room, or should they pay their own way? more
