How come me and my boyfriend are suffering this recession. I'm a 26yr old female. I've just been made redundant and i'm totally fed up. I've always done the right thing. I see other silly woman having children at my age and never having a career or going to uni and they seem to get everything from the government. All through uni i worked and i SAVED that money from a well paid part time job in my uncles supermarket where in the space of 2 months and at 19, i worked my way to managment level (i was part time and in uni at this stage). I got bonuses from him, and i got paid £ 14 per hour coz i was good at my job and drove people and was his 'ear on the ground'. I SAVED every penny and with help from my parents was able to put a downpayment on a small 2 bed apartment around the corner from them and my partner. I saved, Yes SAVED £ 10K toward my down payment WHILE AT COLLEGE.I dont drink, i dont smoke and i dont engage in relations with my partner before marriage. Marriage is special and we are now having a small intimate wedding next new years in a restaurant belonging to friends of my parents. We are not being flash, and now the owner has said as my partner and i are such hard workers and to make up for me losing my job, Hes going to cover 50% of the food bill for my 15 guests. YES 15 close family and friends...not a flash do. I'm wearing a cousins wedding dress. I'm holidaying in the UK in a friends holiday home in Cornwall...not going to the BAHAMAS or something crazy. My partner has now taken a second job as a lifeguard in the evenings in a local swimming pool, he knows the owner of the hotel, so is getting paid a cool £ 15 per hour. Hes working 3 hours every evening. We are going to SAVE this money. We own nothing on our two little cars, yes LITTLE cars. They are all paid for, with a little help from my parents. Now, to my horror i've discovered there are people in my apt block who are having their apts paid by the government. Is that what MY tax has gone toward? i'm lucky i have 2 yrs salary in my account and my partner has also. But why are others not so sensible and then look for handouts? moreResolved Question: Should I submit this for my Standard Grade (Scottish exams) English Prelim folio?
Danger in the Deep It was a beautiful day in the Bahamas. The palm trees were swaying, the crystal blue waters were shimmering, and occasionally you could see a couple of fish dart past. We were walking along a road just next to breath-taking beaches following a diving instructor, holding our oxygen tanks, flippers and mouth pieces. The oxygen tanks were very heavy and a few people in our group were walking in a comical fashion, because there wet suits were probably too tight. We finally reached the pier to which our catamaran was tied. I glanced down the pier to see the watermark where the tide was at his highest. Scattered all the way below was dried up seaweed and pretty shells. As I looked further down I saw that the pier was far longer than I had thought, stretching probably another 15 meters under the water. We walked down it and then clambered onto the boat. We all took our seats and then we set off. Slowly we started to go faster and faster until the boat was smacking off of the waves and our bums hurt. Our attention was caught by a pod of dolphins leaping out of the water. They were so graceful and beautiful. It just made me feel so lucky I was to be here. Then, just as I was getting used to the motion of the boat, the instructor slowed down until we stopped and got out of the cabin. “Okay everyone, go and get your oxygen tanks and flippers, and then, I think we will be ready.” I heaved on my oxygen tank and formed a line with a partner. Then I sat on the edge with my partner, and fell backwards. The water rushed over my head and immersed me in the tropical blue waters of the Bahamas. We all gathered together under water and got or partners again and swam off. I swam along looking at all the beautiful coral reefs and the vivid coloured fish. It all went really quick and I could have stayed out there for far longer. But I suppose we had to because it was starting to get a bit darker. We just started swimming forward slowly when I realised that my air tube was caught on some coral. It wasn’t a big deal so the instructor just swam down and was going to take it off. And then we saw it - a flash of silver darting past. Panicking, the instructor tugged at the pipe, it just wasn’t coming off. Then I spotted another silver flash behind us, and then to the left. I tugged really hard and the coral broke, setting me free. As I turned around, all I could see was blood in the water, and then the body of the instructor floating upwards with his arm detached to his body. I suddenly realised that my oxygen tank was running out, so in desperation, I swam back to the dead remains of the instructor because I know that they had bigger tanks than us. So I took his tank and pulled mine off and put on his. I felt really selfish doing this, but it’s not like he was going to need it. I swam back up slowly, as I knew that I would explode if I went up too quick. As I swam up upwards so painfully slowly I knew that the shark could get me at any time. I finally reached the top. Then I realised that I was stuck in open water by myself… A day past and I was shattered, because I didn’t dare to sleep. My stomach was wrenching as I hadn’t eaten anything for ages. My head was sore from not drinking anything and I probably would have lost more from diving. I was so tempted to just drink the water around me, but that would just dehydrate me even more. Now and again I would swish water around me mouth just to stop it being so dry and then I would spit it out. I was so cold, I had lost all feeling in my legs and my fingers looked like they had been in the water for years because they were so wrinkly. I was so tired so I just closed my eyes and tried so desperately not to fall asleep, but I couldn’t help it. I woke to the sound of an engine; which was strange because I couldn’t see one. But the I looked round and saw the best thing in my life, a fishing boat! I flapped around as much as I could, so it could notice me, and it turned and started to come towards me! Closer and closer until it was right beside me. It chucked down a ladder and one of the crew members climbed down and heaved me up, I would have never been able to climb up myself, I was too weak. They took me on and took my life jacket off of me and gave me a towel and water. Then once I warmed up they gave me some soup. Once I got back to solid ground I found out that what happened was that they had mixed up the registers of who was going and who wasn’t and the wrong register had two less people than what there should have been. So they left us out assuming that they had everyone. I can tell you one thing, I’m not going diving again! And also, can you tell me if you spot any spelling errors, because you know how its difficult to spot them in your own writing. Thanks everyone! moreResolved Question: Fake Id for 18 from 17?

im 17, i used to go out with this girl who is almost 15 and hooked up with her on various occasions, although we were never officially together cuz our relationship lasted about a month and a half due to the fact that i had to move... now we still keep in contact as friends, but i still love her madly and in consequence feel more jealous than ever.. however i dont know if its just me fabricating things in my mind or if she is actually alot better than me as a whole.. she's absoloutely gorgeous, she knows so much culture (music, broadway stuff) she knows more about music than i do, more about fashion, and she has had a better life than me from what i know.. she used to hang out with punks in manhattan drink and just have a good time for a while now.. she has alot of friends outside this group.. she has hobbies, like painting (even though she had to attend art school).. and she is way more mature than how i was at her age!.. also she grew up in a rich classy family that values knowledge and culture, whereas i grew up in a boring suburb with friends that look and think like me in a normal family.. also when i was her age i was a bit of a loner (even though now i do have alot of friends).. sometimes she seems immature though, like she seeks attention.. like this once she got this huge mohawk and started bragging about her drinking habits.. anyway last time i saw her before i moved she started critisizing me about how i usually dont say my opinion on things, and i got really angry at her saying that that was BULL and how i compliment her alot more than she compliments me.. then i apologised for getting so angry.. now im in the other side of the country alone w/out my pals and she's kicking it in the bahamas w her friend PS im considered one of the smart knowlegeable kids among my friends.. and sorry about the really long question moreResolved Question: Drinking age on these islands, please & thanks?

She is staying in the cabin with me moreResolved Question: Is this being unreasonable?
I'm 16, 17 in April. tl;dr: I'm a good kid in the dweebiest, nerdiest sense of the word. I live in NYC. My parents are going to the Bahamas for two weeks, my twin sister gets to stay in our apartment on her own for two weeks, and my parents told me that I have to go dog-sit in Flint. They never told me the dates and now apparently I have to fly out two days before my (long-term; 2 years) boyfriend's birthday, miss an opera he wants to go to and got the tickets for in advance. I'm a low-maintenance doormat-type person who doesn't ask for stuff. Is trying to get out of going to Michigan immature? Full version: For the last four months my mom has been talking about this business trip that she, my dad, and two aunts and two uncles will be taking to the Bahamas. She never told me exactly when. She then just tells me that while they're in the Bahamas, I'm going to go house-sit with my cousin in Flint. Meanwhile, my fraternal twin sister gets to stay at our apartment alone for two weeks; we live in NYC. I finally find out two days ago that I have to leave on March 21. My boyfriend's birthday is on the 23rd; we've been going out for two years and are really crazy about each other, it means a lot to me to be able to celebrate that with him. Also, in December he got tickets to Wagner's Ring Cycle- and the first performance is on the 28th. Nice seats, too. Now, I don't want to go to Flint. I never knew when I was supposed to go, I didn't get any say in whether or not I could go, and why do I have to go but my sister, who's the same age, gets to have a whole apartment in NYC to herself for a week? I want to ask if I can stay with a couple friends who would be happy to have me instead of going out to Flint to dog-sit with my cousin for two weeks. I don't argue with my parents; I've never even slammed a door intentionally. I never ask for anything; when I stopped getting allowance because I had to pay off karate classes I couldn't go to after my AP workload increased, I never even asked for money to get home on the train. I work hard, make good grades, have good friends. Sometimes I can be 10-15 minutes late for my curfew, but I always call and let them know I'm having train trouble. I stay on top of my chores. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I'm a virgin. I'm a quiet nerd who likes classical music. I mean, I'm not perfect, but it's not like I'm some at-risk kid who needs a break from my bad influences. I'm getting dragged to Wagner (I hate Wagner, but my boyfriend likes it...) and want to maybe get a D&D game together as long as I have two weeks when I can have friends over late- provided that it's okay with everyone's parents. I mean, I really am a total dork about this stuff. So if I make the case that I should be allowed to stay, and for once stand up for myself (I'm an accomplished doormat) would I be fighting an immature battle? I mean, if my cousin will be lonely...well, I like her and all, but making me go out to Flint (Michigan) for two weeks? A bit excessive. Plus my parents think I should have more friends, so how is sending me to a new place, in a suburb with no teenagers, when everyone will be in school, going to help that? Anyway anyone's opinions would be nice. If it sounds like I'm lying because of the opera stuff, I'm not, I'm just a dweeby loser. I play D&D, used to play WoW, play Magic, and so forth. Plus I'm willing to get some outside employment to pay off my plane tickets, even though they were purchased with Frequent Flier miles. They got the tickets way in advance, so I figure that if I fix and sell my PSP (initially purchased with my own money) and see if I can fit in some tutoring, I should be able to pay back my parents in a few weeks. Thanks for reading this. Any relevant answer that isn't "um, idk lol" is appreciated.Doug: He's not gay or effeminate, but he likes polyphonic music with emotional content beyond, "IMMA GANGSTA IMMA F*** DEM HOEZ." If he was gay we wouldn't be with each other, there isn't exactly a shortage of gay people over here. moreResolved Question: if i go on a Cruise to the bahamas and Im only 16 can i drink alchol bcs im out of The US?
there was this on one of the sites but i heard that You could If you are traveling with children, you must specify the children ages at the time of ship's sailing date. Failure to provide this information may result in improper pricing which may result in additional costs imposed by the travel provider. A passenger under 21 years of age must be accompanied in the same or connecting stateroom by a passenger 21 years or older who expressly agrees to be responsible for the under 21 passenger throughout the cruise. This includes, but is not limited to, preventing the purchase or consumption of alcohol and preventing the violation of any ship rules. If the accompanying adult is not the minor's parent or legal guardian, a notarized parental/guardian consent letter that authorizes the minor's travel and further authorizes medical treatment in case of an emergency must be delivered to an NCL representative at the pier. Failure to produce this letter at embarkation may result in boarding being denied with no refund provided. Note: Two people under the age of 21 may travel together in the same stateroom without someone over the age of 21 in the same stateroom, if they purchased the cruise under the family plan and have at least one person who is 21 years or older in the adjoining stateroom. moreResolved Question: Has anybody been to Atlantis in the Bahamas?

I went to the Bahamas for my fifteenth birthday a little while ago. my parents said that i could bring a friend with me. so I brought my best friend Jesse. we went for four days and stayed out partying every night till the sun would start to come up. My parents didn’t really notice that we were gone all night. The last night we were there we met these guys that were clearly older than us. so we lied about our age. I said I was 17 and Jesse said she was 16 because I looked the oldest out of the two of us. the guys were also on vacation and the one that paid attention to me the most said he was 19. i remember having a few drinks and then he wanted to show me his room cause he had a special suite. When we got there he made me another drink and after that I felt really drunk. he let me sit on the bed cause I was a little dizzy. then we started making out but he was doing everything cause everytime I moved I felt really dizzy. I had like no idea what the hell was going on. and before I knew it we were having sex. I was a virgin before this trip and I am so upset that I wasted my first time like that. i remember telling him that I didn’t think it was a good idea but I guess he convinced me. I feel so disgusting right now I cant even deal with myself. everytime I think about what happened I feel nauseous. I feel so embarrassed about it that I didn’t even tell Jesse what happened. I don’t know what to do.
