Nassau Bahamas Shopping Questions asked

Resolved Question: My boss is trying to steal from me?

To make a long story short, I work at a men's warehouse store in Myrtle Beach, SC. I am getting ready to move to the Bahamas to, at long last, open my cigar shop. So the days of being someones subordinate are finally numbered. But of course my ******* boss couldn't go out without a bang. Someone in the shop (Not me) accidentally damaged a machine, and no one owned up to it. But I get blamed with no evidence other than the fact that I'm the newest guy trained in alterations. So I get $400 dollars illegally withheld from my final paycheck. I have no time to sue as it happened yesterday and my flight leaves the day after tomorrow. But here's the opportunity. I just finished my final shift. My boss does not know that I'm leaving specifically tomarrow. A year ago, I was issued a top of the line work laptop. I've done some research, and In it's current condition, it would fetch around 1200 dollars retail. I can EASILY get 600 for it at a pawn shop. Today when asked, I said I forgot but will bring in the laptop first thing tomarrow and my boss said okay just don't forget. So, here's my plan: I sell the laptop this afternoon (We have a 24/7 pawn here) and tomarrow morning while I'm sitting on the plane five minutes before takeoff, to Nassau, Bahamas, I call her and leave her a voicemail and am like, yeah, just thought I'd sell the laptop to cover your bill of the 400m dollar loan, plus interest. You can buy it back at (pawn shop name) if you like. And since I'm in a whole different overseas country, I figure there's not much the police could do for her now. (Although if she goes to them she's fair game for arrest for her illegal action) could I do this? more

Resolved Question: Shopping In Nassau, Bahamas in late July.?

Hi. I am vacationing in Nassau in late July. I was told that I can buy swim suits, cover ups, and sun dresses at the Straw Market for less thant $10 each and not to pack any of these items. Is this true? I don't want to pack these items if I can purchase them there at a good price. But I don't want to buy them there either if they are too expensive. Does anyone know this for sure. Thanks !!! more

Resolved Question: Cruise excursions times (trying to catch more than one)?

Lets get straight to it instead of wasting time. Info: Nassau, Bahamas (Location) Wanting to do Black-Beard island (snorkeling) and shopping tour (tourist photo op and Atlantis resort) My concern is that I wont be able to do both due to the travel times (one leaving at one time while the other leaving at another time). I have about 10 hours but don't want to rush and not enjoy the trip. Does anybody know if it is possible to get both in one shot or does the excursions have restricted time frames that only leave once. So basially Im saying is there more than one opportunity to catch either the boat to Black-Beard Island or the guide (bus) to the city. Thanks for your time and have a great day. more

Resolved Question: Has anyone ever been to Nassau Bahamas? On a cruise?

My fiance & I are going on our honeymoon in May. Part of it includes a cruise and one stop is Nassau Bahamas. We are trying to weigh out excursions vs. doing things on our own. We found an adventure that takes us to Atlantis to the beach. But it's $90 a person. We are already doing a dolphin encounter at another port, and we aren't interested in doing the water rides at Atlantis. We really just want to spend the day at the beach and shopping. If we don't do Atlantis can we find a beach and shopping on our own? It just seemed like the whole place was Atlantis. Any suggestions? Should we spend the day on our own on pay for the excursion? We are just trying to narrow down to a few excursions. We have 4 ports and don't want to go overboard with all excursions! more

Resolved Question: Has anyone taken a cruise on the Imperial Majesty cruise line?

They are short cruises-2 nights and leave out of Ft Lauderdale and go to Nassau Bahamas. I won a free cruise with them but dont really know anything about the ship. hi, i don't understand the whole "duty free" shopping deal. so do we have to declare all our purchases or pay taxes when we return to the u.s.? also, for anyone who has been to nassau, i keep hearing that souvenirs and local items are cheap. since everyone's idea of cheap is different and because i don't want to end up short on spending money, can someone be specific? for example, let's say i want a bahamas souvenir t-shirt... i haven't vacationed in a while and for once, i don't want $$ to be an issue and want to be fully prepared. thanks so much in advance! more

Resolved Question: Does anyone want to barter something for one week in Nassau Bahamas?

My offer: 1 week (7 days) - $800 value in a 1 bedroom studio apartment in Nassau Bahamas - Studio is less than 100 feet from a private beach. You would have use of a gazebo and deck right on the water. The perfect getaway/vacation in a very quaint and quiet tropical setting. (You cover the airfare, car rentals, etc...) I own the property - this is not a timeshare, so this can pretty much be any week we agree on. Studio apartment is comfortable for one, cozy for two. Has kitchen, microwave, a/c and cable TV. Located in Cable Beach - close to all the action. Shopping, watersports, supermarkets, golf, nightclubs, restaurants, 20 minutes to Atlantis. Your offer: ??? You tell me. I'm open to suggestions as long as they are fair. I can e-mail you pictures of the property too. Hope to hear from you soon. Why pay thousands in a hotel with no kitchen? Be creative - what about a weekend stay for barter? I'll see you when you get here. more

Resolved Question: Caribbean Travel help!?

I am planning a trip for this summer to either Negril, Jamaica, Nassau Bahamas or Cancuun/Riveria Maya area in Mexico. I have asked a similar question before, but wanted more info. I was leaning towards Jamaica, (airfare is less from FL) but have heard that it can be quite dangerous. I wan't to go somewhere laid back, with great beaches and tropical drinks. I do like some sort of activity, (casinos/shops) but the beaches are the most important to me. I do not, however, want to be haggled and approached by locals all day while I am at the beach. I realize, this is how people make $$, but I want to relax on my vacation and not be annoyed too much.....what would be the best place to go? I have only every been to Nassau, and I loved the beaches/locals but would like to experience somewhere else this time around. TIA more

Resolved Question: Question when going on a cruise to the Bahamas?

Resolved Question: Bahamas, Jamaica or Mexico??

My Fiancè and I are planning a short 4-5 night vacation for late spring to somewhere in the Carribbean. I have been to the Bahamas several times (Atlantis and Cable Beach) but never to Jamaica or Mexico. We want something laid back, where we can lay on the beach and sip on frozen drinks all day. We like to gamble a little, but don't really do the club scene, although we don't mind the atmosphere. I also like some shopping/exploring, which I thought was a bit lacking in Nassau, but the beaches are the most important thing to me. Where should I go? I have listed the three suggestions because I know they are similarly priced but all suggestions are welcome. No cruise suggestions please, I have not had a good experience with them. Thanks! more

Resolved Question: What's the best guided tour of Nassau/Paradise Islands Bahamas?

We are going there by cruise ship in June. We will be on the island for 9 hours, and would like to take a tour that gives us a good overview of the layout and history of both islands, then maybe do a little shopping before getting back on the ship. Right now, we are looking at a "COMBINATION TOUR - (4 hour)" by Majestic Tours the price $60.00/person. Has anyone taken this tour? Is it good? Is the included lunch good? Do they take you inside historical buildings and Atlantis? Also, any better tours avail? more

Resolved Question: What to get my bf's mom for Christmas?

I think it will be fairly easy to shop for his sister she is only about a year yonger than me. So I asked him what his mom likes and all he told me was the type of perfume she wears. any other ideas (he said she wouldn't use bath oils, bath and body that kinda stuff)She likes to sew but she is a semstress I figured and he told me that she has about anything imaginable related to sewing. more
