You know that saying what happens in Vegas, Cancun, Jamaica or Bahamas stays there. So what about these rich folk who find ways to be unfaithful without leaving a trail. I was born in free port Bahamas. So if you look on the Map I'd be more Cuban, Dominican, or haitian for that fact. But when I tell people I from the islands....Jamaica is the only place they can assume. Why is that? Did Bob Marley stereotype all of us island people with Buffalo Soldier. more

Resolved Question: On the Government employees paid holiday list, which day should Obama's birthday replace, maybe Columbus day?

Everyone is already brainwashed into believing Columbus abused people of color in the Bahamas. So he seems like the obvious one to Go. But I'm all for Obama Day replacing the 4th of July. Voting Question: Girls: What is your dream wedding?

*Only answer if you have thought about it before. I dream of mine on a beautiful beach in mexico or hawaii with a reception as well as the ceremony with tons of people, friends and family and relatives, in the summer, cream colored roses, three tiered woven designed wedding cake with flowers intertwining with like raspberry and chocolate on the inside and vanilla frosting on the outside with little decorative silver ediable beads, dancing, etc. and a limo afterwards and our honeymoon in cabo mexico or the bahamas or something, and then i would wear like a long beautiful strapless corset dress that flowed out in the ends and was tight at the top kinda like Taylor Swift's renissance (sp?) dress from her music video Love Story (but without sleeves and strapless), that didn't show my feet and had a veil and my hair long and loose and down and wavy and me being really tan and etc, just perfect. haha i was thinking about that today. idk what decorations, color schemes, thats a lot to process, even just for fun ahaha. whats your dream wedding? more

There are a few other Bahama free cruises questions on here but this is to a specific offer. I saw it on tv and called, just to see what it was about. launch in ft lauderdale, Florida. Resolved Question: Who else agrees that this will bring Haiti into the 21st Century?

Patois has gotten them nowhere. Big deal they used it to defeat the French and the Spanish temporally. French is a dead language. Spanish and English are the ruling languages in this Hemisphere. Haiti needs to foster closer relations with the Dominican Republic. Ok. 1937 happened. Move on. I am half Black American and Black Dominican. Do I hold a grudge against White Americans because of lynching’s, slavery and the Civil War? No. Living in the past will not get Blacks anywhere. The time for Haiti to join the 21st Century is now, 2010. Nations like Corporations have to learn, copy, shape into their own, learn from their neighbors. Haiti has no excuse to be the poorest and most illiterate nation in the Western Hemisphere. Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Trinidad, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Martinique, Dominica, do not have the issues Haiti has. Something must change. This Earthquake must be a wake up call if you will. Instead of money and food, people should send books and educational material to Haiti. English will bring Haiti closer to America and the World. more

Resolved Question: Should I continue to deceive her.?

This is suppose to be the best time in my life. Just got married about 3 weeks ago and had just returned from honeymoon about a week ago. But that is not what has or is occurring. We are both in our early 20s and had dated since high school and through college. Though we had dated that long we both wanted to wait tell marriage for sex. Well at least that is what I thought and was true tell about a few weeks before our wedding. What have come to find out is that my wife's, so called Friends, convinced her that being a virgin on our wedding night would just make it uncomfortable. They suggested that she lose her virginity so that all the pain/discomfort of losing it would not be there for the beginning of our honey moon and thus she could have more enjoyment. She agreed and had sex a old friend, as she has put it was just sex and nothing more. Well it was more because I found out about this right after the wedding at reception by overhearing a couple people talking. I asked my new wife and she broke down and told me the entire truth that night when we arrived in the bahamas for our honeymoon. Well lets just say that pretty much ruined our honeymoon we stayed for two weeks since had already paid for it and took the time off. Did not sleep in the same bed the entire time on our honeymoon. To add more to the problem she had missed her period about week which should have started about the last few days of our trip or shortly after we returned. She did home pregnancy test and found that she is pregnant. Well unless some divine thing occur ed it is impossible for me to be the father since we still have not consummated the marriage. Since our return she has not moved out of her apartment into the house my grandparents gave us as a wedding gift. I have told her that just need time and counseling to get past this. In reality I just can't see get past it and would have already filed for a divorce but she is saying that will abort the child. Which I am totally against abortion and that's when told her that we will get through this. That its not the child's fault and we can over come it. Its not true but do not want to see her kill a baby. So have been planning on starting counseling with her and wait tell she is far enough along or has the baby and then file for divorce. more

Resolved Question: What can I do about my dad?

I'm 20 years old, I'm a college student and i live in the Bahamas. I like to go out but i tend not to make it a habit. I do this out of respect for my parents because i live at home and for the sake of my school work. My father is really strict, like super strict, and sometimes he really treats me like a child. In the Bahamas it isn't normal for someone to leave home before finishing college, actually some people stay in their parents' house for as long as they could (I am not interested in this).. but I know that someone will answer that i should move out but i want you to understand it isn't that easy. Rent here is really only paid by a fulltime job, and i am still a student and i want to finish my program . So I am not asking anyone to tell me to get my own place because as of right now this is out of the question. What i am asking, is if there are any techniques or tips that i can use to get my father to let go a little and stop being so overbearing, it's really stressing me out. Like i said I'm 20 years old, none of my friends have to get into an argument every time they want to go out..so what do i do? more

Resolved Question: Brits: Do you want to do the capitalism/housing bubble all over again?

.. how sad and draconian a world is it that the Brits inhabit and do nothing about... capitalism has never been about sharing... it spun that as a cheap, mugs' myth by Blair and Thatcher. Capitalism is solely in the hands of the old wealth base. They simply print more money. That has always led to the problem and funded the rich out of it. But it is a recent example of the ordinary bloke re-mortgaging his brains out, holidaying in the Bahamas and only being able to pay for it on paper. It is not just the filthy rich that are the butt of the recent financial meltdown. In reality we all are... because we believe the existing system is the only option... often negate individual talents, and rely on peer group mediocrity that encourages people to move from blue to white collar lifestyles, which they end up hating, because the larger capitalist agenda eats that socio mobilising fodder alive. UK is still an old class culture that now administers power from the inaccessible corridors of the City, with a Gentlemens' Club marginalising mindset that trickles down faster than their much exulted loose change. It has exploited all and sunder for years, centuries. In the past it sent young blokes to their deaths... now it kills off generations financially (and still exports war). The few who have done well will seek to discredit those who have not - no doubt here also. Look at the fundamentals of UK economy and you see a City based, scam laden, Gin and Port spin society, hell bent on escaping its class and wealth confining reality. Obsessed by money. It has lost much of its cultural identity, faith and family values. The fundamentals of social well being. Life is about sharing certainly. But you do not need that much to be able to look after family. The housing market is still down... the banks are brimming with cash... property is now about to be sold as a safe investment. The whole thing will start all over again. Because they control YOU the lambs who live for the good life... even though you probably already have it. Now they need to entice a new era of mugs to fund their next bubble. It generally takes time and dedication to get somewhere stable and satisfying. You do live in Govt housing! By the time you pay a mortgage the house has cost you 3 times its value! A one bed flat in S London is still worth 120K... 20 years ago it was worth 70K... duh do the maths.ketkonen It's just a game bud. The shedding game. They have to print money - that is the only way Capitalism works. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8bKmNCJuH0&feature=relatedketkonen It's just a game bud. The shedding game. Resolved Question: Seasickness question?

So I'm reading tons of reviews and stuff on people that go on the smaller cruise ships to the bahamas (majesty of the seas RCCL, and carnival sensation) and get seasick when there are rough seas, my question is, have these people taken any dramamine or anything, or are they getting seasick in spite of the fact that they have taken seasickness meds? Resolved Question: Will the money raised to rebuild Haiti be turned over to the previous corrupt government or?

will an outside entity (the UN for example) see that the island is rebuilt to include the poor people as well? I overheard a conversation the other day while in a doctor's office. The people were saying that the whole island should be devoted to tourism and all the people should benefit from it, not just the government. They have a beautiful Caribbean island that people from all over would love to visit. It's a gold mine in the making but only half the island is safe to go to without armed guards. They should do like the Bahamas where the people have a share in and profit from the tourism trade. Mind you, this is just what I overheard. I have never been to the Caribbean and have no desire to go there at all. I like to see more historical places. I'm not a sit around and sun and surf person. Your thoughts - and keep in mind - to each his own so you don't have to jump on anyone elses answer. more

Resolved Question: Have you been to the Bahamas or Jamaica?

Resolved Question: Can someone tell me what they think of my college admission essay?

If you have any suggestion please feel free to tell me. Over the past few decades, people have drastically changed the way they choose their career. Times have changed a great deal, and people no longer feel forced into a certain profession. People are now given endless choices and possibilities, and it is up to them to decide what they want to do the rest of their lives. When facing these important decisions, it is very easy to become confused. Fortunately, for myself, I found this decision to be a very easy one. I come from a family of teachers. Therefore, it did not take long to decide that teaching was the career choice for me. After deciding on the education field, I then felt the need to choose a major. I chose high school mathematics because I felt it would allow me to teach a subject that many students of today’s time don’t really grasp as well as other subjects. I have always had a love for knowledge, and for children. I feel that the children of today truly are the future of tomorrow and the creators of what is to come. Children are all too often over looked in today’s society. It is my belief that it is part of a teacher’s job to help children learn how to express their opinions not only in the classroom, but in the real world as well. While attending the College of the Bahamas, I intend to obtain my bachelor’ of education in secondary certification, learn more behavior strategies to improve my classroom management and to continue to embrace cultural diversity. After accomplishing these goals there are many other plans that I plan to live up to. My main goal as High School teacher would be to reach out to as many students as I can. I know that Mathematics can be a difficult subject for some students but when I teach my aim is to show them that they can love learning. I believe that when a child has elevated from a D to a C or B student I can say that I have accomplished my goal. I chose the College of the Bahamas because of many reasons but mainly because it is a chance and opportunity for higher learning, it is close to home and I think that if someone is to be successful in their life they must start at home and then go abroad. more

Resolved Question: What do you think the Queen has to say the UN on behalf of 15 nations?

The Queen to address UN in July Fri Jan 22, 9:58 PM UNITED NATIONS (AFP) - Britain's Queen Elizabeth II will address the UN General Assembly for the first time in more than 50 years during a July visit to New York, according to the British mission to the world body. ADVERTISEMENT The 83-year-old monarch and her husband, Prince Philip, will arrive in New York on July 6 after making a nine-day state visit to Canada and leave later the same day, it said in a statement. The queen has addressed the United Nations General Assembly on only one previous occasion, in 1957. She is addressing the body in her capacity as the head of state of the United Kingdom and 15 other UN member states: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu. She is also head of the Commonwealth, an association of 54 countries, mostly former British colonies http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/100123/world/un_britain_royalty ------------------------------------- Is she going to tell them to stop spending her peoples money in such a stupid and unproductive manner? Is she going to tell them to stop with all these dangerous rules and laws that they are passing such as making nutrients a labeled poison ? Is she going to tell the nations of the world to fall in line? If so which line and to what ends? -------- What do you think the Queen is going to say on behalf of the 15 nations she is head of State of ? Resolved Question: Going on a Carnival Cruise to the Bahamas soon, any recommended things to see/do at the ports?

It's a five-day cruise and it's a Carnival cruise. It begins & ends in Jacksonville, FL and the ports of call are Freeport & Nassau Bahamas. I've tried to look up attractions and places there, but all I find are the expensive activities and I don't really have the budget for that. Any ideas or shops, cheap attractions, cool areas to go to etc etc? People who've been there before have some recommendations or if you just know the area?? Ideas will be helpful & gratefully accepted. more

Voting Question: Ideas For a very Small Reception Dinner?

Hello, I was hoping that you guys could give me some ideas for my very small dinner reception of about 20 people total including me and hubby to be.We are getting married in the Bahamas and was going to have a nice little dinner either before we left or after we came back. We were thinking maybe in the backyard set up a couple of long tables put them together with a table cloth and decorate them with candles and flowers and put a couple of things up here and there but any other ideas would be great.Oh the dinner will be in August or October 10 but in October it may be a little chilly so we'll see. ThanksThanks for the ideas. I thought about a room at a restaraunt as well which we may do I also wanted a dinner cruise ( which can get a little pricey)but either way thanks for the ideas, I'm sure we'll do something nice. Thanks Again. more

My husband and I are just about to book our upcoming vacation... and have heard pros and cons from our travel agent, but I want to hear from people who have taken cruises or traveled to the Bahamas and Grand Cayman, which did you prefer? Voting Question: I need some major help with understanding passport?

I just want to know if this is correct! I am a US citizen with a valid drivers liscenses and birth certificate, so as my husband, and my 1 year old daughter also has a valid birth certificate. We plan on doing a Disney Cruise to the bahamas in early Feb. We will port on the ship in Florida, and when we come back we will get back off the same port. Since we will be leaving and coming back to the same port will we need a passport? I have had several people say since you'll be coming back to the same port then you can just have your lliscenses and birth certificate. True or not? I know you can leave the US without a passport, but leaving out is the problem. HELP! more

Resolved Question: Some questions for you frequent/experienced cruisers?

My boyfriend and I are thinking of goin on a cruise in early May. We've been looking at Carnival's caribbean cruises and I think we're going to do one of those. We want to do the bahamas maybe, so would Carnival be best for this? We are on the lower-spending side but if you think I should look into any other cruise lines, feel free to suggest! This MAY be a stupid question but this is all brand new to me... Is free food available all day? as in breakfast, lunch and dinner? I'm just trying to get a sort of final figure for us to save. Also... I'm only 20 and I've heard that most cruise lines have a min. age req of 21.. but my boyfriend is 25 so does that make it alright? As long as one person in the cabin is 25+ then that's alright, even if we aren't related? Just wanted to make sure that we aren't wasting time thinking about this as I won't be 21 until November! Also how does that affect partying on the boat... Are the parties also 21+ orrrr what? I have a fake i.d that says im 21.. but I just didn't know if the people at the door would have like a list of people who are of the age to party... i dono... this is why im asking! Anyway if you guys have any suggestions about cruises or things that one NEEDS to see in the bahamas, or any other great cruising experience u had, feel free to share!! :D Thanks a lot!! more

Resolved Question: Help...I'm happily eloping but my bipolar mother who I love is making things too difficult?

Okay so I'm 23 and in nursing school... Myself and my fiance originally had planned on a beach wedding but I simply could not get my family to work together. My mom and dad are divorced and have nothing to do with the other and haven't for many years, they don't even speak. So that made it extremely difficult to plan a wedding and make everyone happy (especially me) without there being resentment or hurt feelings and fights. I was making myself sick and losing sleep. So we decided since we won a trip to the Bahamas, we want to elope there in May and obviously give out photos to our families. We'll still do showers and get together with folks on our return. My fiance's mom was the first to offer $ to fly us there and then my mother happily agreed at the time that this was a good idea. Now she's backing out saying she could've given me a good wedding and that the traditional thing is to let the mother plan it and that I hurt her feelings---(did I mention she's on disability, not in great health, and has no money to put toward a wedding since she can't even make rent at the moment). She does not agree that the BRIDE is who plans the wedding (another reason I decided to elope). Plus she told me it was stupid to have showers and to invite people like my stepmom since we weren't having a wedding anyway. But I have friends who want to give me showers but know she'll be jealous she financially can't give me one. I just can't please her either way. I told her I've prayed and that this is what I think God wants me to do and that it'll be easiest on us and make us happier. She still stays angry/jealous about it and turns it around that I'm trying to hurt her when I'm not even when I've told her this. How do I handle her and also do showers? I want showers but know my mom's gonna be jealous or mad she can't throw one herself even though I told her my friends and my fiances mom want her to be involved but she turns it around like I don't want her to be a part of it. It's like being there isnt enough she wants to be the ONE throwing it, but she can't right now in her position. I'm so confused and worry about this. I mean obviously if we can't figure out how to plan a shower, how can I expect my family (especially my mom) to help plan a wedding??? It just affirms my wanting to elope even further now. I just dont know how to handle showers and who to invite cuz if anyone from my dad's side is there, my mom wont want to be. more

Resolved Question: My bf, cheated on me for a ten days with some girl!?

So my bf, just got back from a ten day trip to the Bahamas. I knew him and his family were going with a bunch of other people, I didn't know any were around his age. So I never expected this to happen. So I check my facebook, and I see my bf was tagged in this album. There were tons of pictures of him hugging, kissing and cuddling with this girl. I am so furious! Also it's not like this girl is from the Bahamas, no she is from the city we live in. He can still see that wh0re. I am so mad. What do I do? Were both 15 and this is the first ''real'' relationship I am in. I liked him for so long, before we went out. I never thought he would be that ''type'' of guy. more

Resolved Question: Taxi's in the Bahamas - Nassau?

Anyone ever taken one of the MANY taxi's where the cruise ships dock in Nassau?? For a city tour or just to get around town?? How do you know if they are a reliable company or a rip-off? When you come off the dock they're are a million people waiting trying to sell you stuff. I was actually interested in some of the tours but they're all so sketchy... how do you know who to trust? I noticed some of them were wearing something that looked like an ID badge - maybe from the government?? What is it?? more

Resolved Question: Why is it readily accepted and taught in schools that Columbus discovered America, when he never even saw it?

My children attended school in the Untited States for a time while I was living there. In school, they were told that Christopher Columbus discovered north America. History says, apart from the original native "Indian" arrivals, that it was the Vikings who were were the first foreign country to arrive on the shores of Northern America. History also shows that Columbus never even sighted North America. Amazingly, the natives of the United States ask the US not to celebrate Columbus days, not for the fact he did not even do it, but for what happened "as a result of Columbus landing on our shores".. Even the natives are accepting of a historical event that did not occur. The fact is that Columbus only sighted and landed on South American soil. Under his direction, he killed many people, and then also under his direction, he took natives as slaves and returned to his home. The closest he came to the US was landing at what is now called the Bahamas. To respond to one answerer.... People in the United States like to say they are American, but differentiate themselves from being Canadian (north America) or Argentinian (south America), but meanwhile say they are American. The point I made is that Columbus never landed nor sighted North America. What he sighted and landed upon is what is today called Central America.A response to Frankie, who said that Columbus did not order any killings... historical references proves you wrong... http://www.understandingprejudice.org/nativeiq/columbus.htm QUOTE - "Many people are surprised to learn that Christopher Columbus and his men enslaved native inhabitants of the West Indies, forced them to convert to Christianity, and subdued them with violence in an effort to seek riches." He (Columbus) ordered the torture and killings. See also... http://www.blurtit.com/q3540604.html He was far from some innocent explorer. He was a dictator, forcing his will against others. The above is just a web reference, but written books and documents go further. He landed on the shores. He massacred the natives. He took many into slavery, and wrote about his "conquest" in his journals. (FACT - published for all to see) Either stop pretending he was some saint to the Americas, or face the facts, that he was a racist murderer. more

Resolved Question: What should I splurge on this Christmas?

Hey guys. I'm not really getting a Christmas this year because I've decided to save up and pay my way to the Bahamas to do volunteer work for 10days. Suffice to say, I may only end up with 200 bucks for myself this holiday. What do you guys think is a good splurge: 1) Lady Gaga Heartbeat Headphones- I listen to my iPod EVERYDAY, and I have about 3 of them. So music is def my life. Plus Gaga is an idol of mine. They're 100 bucks plus S/H 2) Marc Jacobs & Dior Perfume- I LOVE smelling good and people appreciate that since I always get compliments. So I'm horde perfume. I came across these two in magazines and love the smell. Combined the 2 would be between 80-120 bucks depending on size 3) Revamp my wardrobe- I also LOVE clothes, and am in love with this season's new trends like knee high boots, sequins and faux fur. Thing is, I have a shit load of clothes as it is, but they aren't as cool as the trends out now. I'd probably spend a few hundred at Forever 21 since thats where all the cheap and chic clothes are. 4.) Get a tattoo- I am in LOVE with Canarys and all they symbolize (living like a canary in a coalmine). But to get a really NICE tattoo (of the word, or of the picture) I'd need to spend alot, around 200, which is all I have. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Do you think one of these 4 options would be cool? Or do you suggest anything else? TEN POINTS to whomever REALLY helps. (I'm serious) Okay, love you guys. Happy Holidays! more

Resolved Question: Car rental possible in Nassau, Bahamas when you're 20 years old?

I rented a house in Nassau for a week in January, Saturday to Saturday. Not until midday Wednesday will anyone in our party be 26 or older. Until then we are all 20. Is there any car rental agency that will allow me to rent a car? I can rent a house, gamble, and drink, but not rent a car? I've read about some agencies renting to people 18-24 for an increased fee because they are statisitcally more likely to crash. Are there any in Nassau? Once the car is returned, uncrashed, and statistics proven only hypothetical is that extra fee returned? If I can't rent one I need an alternative until Wednesday. I suppose the only alternative is a cab? If I book a car online what is the likelihood I will be refused at pickup? The house is on Yamacraw Hill Road. I guess we'll just take a cab out at the start of the day and a cab home at night. more
