Voting Question: Are there celebrities with stretch marks that AREN'T due to pregnancy?

Even the pregnant celebs don't seem to get stretchmarks. I have never been pregnant, and have had stretchmarks since about 13 on my hips. And what's weird, is I don't ever remember them being reddish or purple. They have always been silvery. And I KNOW about photoshop, but paparazzis don't photoshop candid photos. All the celebrities on the beach that I see--- no stretchmarks. Aren't there any celebrities that get stretch marks just from growing? (Surgery DOESN'T 'remove' them guys, it helps them fade, so surgery wasn't their option...) And if they are covering them up with some kind of make-up... WHAT MAKE-UP IS IT? I'm dying here... I'd like to wear a bikini without people thinking I got scratched by a rake or something. more

I am having a beach wedding in Miami florida. I am trying to find a photographer in the area or included in a beach wedding package. I was curious how much do you think I should pay for 2 hours of photography? I just want someone to take pics an hour before the ceremony like of me and the girls getting ready and the guests by the way there is only going to be about 20 to 30 so there not a ton. then shoot the ceremony wich is only like 20 mins then take some candids on the beach afterwards. i'm thinking of getting a new lens for my Canon 350D. I already have a Canon 50mm 1.8. I will be going on a vacation soon, and im wondering which one of these 3 lenses i should get. Keep in mind that i have a 1.6 crop factor frame. I want to be able to get some nice candid shots, long beach shots, but at the same time nice wide landscape shots. Do you think the 80mm is good enough for the shots that, i will be long distance apart from the actual subject/person. Resolved Question: Sleep Photography portfolio help?

My concept for my final photography portfolio is "sleep". I need to take ten pictures, obviously depicting sleep. So far my brainstorming has come up with ideas such as - sleep on public transport - asleep on city bench - asleep in a bed - asleep in an alleyway - asleep on the grass - asleep at the beach but i would like some input! Any ideas about weird or wonderful places i could photograph sleep would be appreciated. Anyone else tired of having naked/semi-naked woman everywhere in the media? It's like nothing can be advertised without a naked woman involved, you read the paper (tabloid admittedly) and they take every chance possible to show naked woman/candid shots of some celebrity on a friggin beach somewhere. Resolved Question: Need advice on taking beach shots (bright light, pale skin etc.)?

I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow, going to Clearwater Beach, Orlando etc. I took some great shots last year IMHO, they were mostly candid shots of my three teens being themselves. But, it was with a Kodak z612. I have just purchased a Canon T1i, with a EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM, a EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM and the kit lense Canon 18-55. I am really hoping for some even better shots this year. I'm sorry for the amount of pics that I am posting but I really want to get this right. I can't seem to get it right with the Canon, my skin tones are very pale and washed out. Yes they could have been a lot better but I like the skin tones, in the close-ups. Resolved Question: Question For Married & Engaged People... or just people with common sense!?

I know this is long, but its better to have a full understanding of this situation for you to answer this. First a little about me... I am a wedding photographer in Massachusetts. The style of photography that I offer is photojournalism which simply means I capture more candid and unexpected photos than posed ones because I feel that these are the captured moments that truly tell the story of a wedding when they are all nicely put together. But back to the subject here, I just got back from doing a wedding tonight that was a casual styled wedding on cape cod. It was all outdoors on the beach with the reception outdoors as well under a tent. Overall the wedding went really well, with a couple exceptions which brings me to a two part question, the first asking for your outlook and opinion, and the other is a "what would you do". First, I wanted to know what people thought about this. Almost 100% of the times as a photographer I take photos right up until people are getting ready to eat. I will capture some photos of them in buffet lines, or being served their food, but I don't like to get photos of people eating, it just seems rude to me. So during these times I am almost 100% of the times also invited to a plate of dinner by the bride and groom, until tonight... they did not at all offer me as much as a glass of water! So, my first question is if you have hired a photographer to capture your entire wedding day... keeping in mind that this is the person who is going to capture the moments that you will have for a lifetime to remember your special day.. would you or would you not invite them to have a dinner plate? And I don't mean to sit at a table or to reserve a seat for me, just in general, would you offer me a plate, or even a drink throughout the evening? Now, this is where I get into the what would you do... sorry if I am long winded so far, but I could write a short story with everything that happened tonight with this wedding... okay, the what would you do... Again, as I said, I feel uncomfortable about taking photos of people while they are eating because I myself don't even like someone watching me eat, never mind taking a photo of me with food having out of my mouth! BUT the grooms brother came over to me and as I thought he was offering me a plate of dinner, to my surprise he said to me that the bride and groom have a request for me to take photos of people while they were eating. The reason why is because the wedding was a non-traditional, casual beach side wedding with a clam-bake dinner and they wanted to have photos of people eating lobsters, etc.. So since I have been hired by them to take the photos, and this is what they want, of course I had to do it, right? Well as I am doing it the brides best friend (who planned much of the wedding) comes over to me and "politely" says to me, "do you mind not taking photos of people while they are eating, I don't think that it is too nice or even professional...." You can already imagine the thoughts that were going through my head. But I POLITELY told her back that I was requested to take these photos, she asked by whom, and I explained.. so she says "okay, hold on and let me look into this, come with me" Now this woman has already crossed the line telling me how to do my job which I hate, brings me over to the bride and groom and explains that I was out taking photos of people while they were eating and that I told her that the bride and groom wanted the photos... almost like a 5 year old tattling! The bride and groom simply said, "ya....?" and the best friend, or planner, says "and you want him taking these pictures?" and they said yes, that they already told people that they had me taking them and thought it would look good for their album since it was a beach wedding with a clam bake. So now I am already getting ready to walk away and the lady yet again comes over to me and says "okay, but maybe for only a few minutes... okay?" I just simply said to her "my job takes however long it takes me to get the photos that I need to put together what the bride and groom hired me to create, and I cannot create a lifetime of memories in a few minutes" At this point she looked at me, said nothing and walked off. The rest of the night she gave me dirty looks, said nothing to me at all, except for when she thought she could continue to direct me to get more photos that she thought I should be getting... and meanwhile I already went over all of the photos with the BRIDE and GROOM that they wanted for me to get. Well, because of this woman's interruptions there are many photos that I had missed out on that I should have got... so that is my "what would you do".... Seeing that this woman is the best friend of the bride and helped plan the wedding, would you tell the bride and/or groom about this? What if they ask about why there are not too many photos of people eating lobster, or the other photos that they wanted that I kPart got cut off, lol here is the rest.... What if they ask about why there are not too many photos of people eating lobster, or the other photos that they wanted that I kept getting interrupted by this woman while I was trying to get them... would you tell her then? Seriously... in this situation, what would you do? I have never been in this situation before and hope to never go through it again and it almost seems that because she was upset that I was in the right about getting the photos of people eating lobster since the bride and groom wanted them, that she just tried to sabotage my work or something. What do you think... would you offer me a dinner plate? would you offer me something to drink? would you tip me? (this is usually common, but again not here.. . and it's not expected anyways, but it's the point and just a question) and lastly your opinion on this wedding planner from hell.... lol... thanks!I did have the photos most important to them arranged before hand as I always do, which is also put into my contracts. Speaking of contracts, I have a detailed one in place for every wedding I do and all of their money is paid for the wedding before their wedding day, so no money is ever owed to me. Speaking of money, I charge less than half of what the average photographer does in my local market, and I do quite well because of that. I also brought another photographer who assisted me and took photos adding even more to their final product, this too is why I think the least they could have done back was dinner or a tip considering I didn't charge them for this. I do have photos of the dirty looks! In fact not once did she smile in any photo I tried to take of her. I also later found out from the mother it was her who was suppose to offer me dinner, but not until we were about to leave, this is why I thought she attempted to sabbotage me, do you understand better now?One more thing, as for bringing food or drinks with you, this is hard to do because if you are not present to capture any particular moment because you had to sneak away to your car, then this is the cause of the bride and groom being upset about not having that moment in a photo... and if you think a few minutes would not contain a precious moment on a wedding day... think again! This is why 100%... well now 99.9% of the time you are offered dinner and drinks while you are there. Not to mention that it would not look professional with me carrying around a drink that I brought with me while I should be taking photos.... If you all add me as one of your contacts I will update you once I get the photos finished... lol this should be interesting considering how little their "planner" wanted to work with me to get things done. And yes, I should only listen to the bride & groom, but it was arranged for her as the "planner" to help me as the photographer, which made it hell for me! more

Resolved Question: Tips/advice on taking candid photos of women at the beach?

Hi, I am going to Hawaii in a few months, and I plan on taking a LOT of candid photographs of attractive bikini-clad young women at the various popular beaches over there. I have never done anything like this before. Have any of you taken candid beach photos of women in bikinis before, and if so, do you have any useful tips or advice? Some things in general I would like to know: 1. Is it legal for me to take candid photos of women on the beach, or do I need to get their permission. Keep in mind, these will not be naked or topless, since beaches in Hawaii do not allow nudity of any sort. 2. Will they usually be confrontational about it, meaning I would be better off taking the photos as descreetly as possible, using a zoom-lens, or is it usually not a big deal, and I can just snap photos from a little closer without using a zoom lens. 3. Have you ever been beat up by the boyfriend of a woman who caught you taking photos of her? 4. On a sunny day during the middle of day, what would you say the best camera settings would be for me to use to get the best possible photos, as far as the shutter speed, aperture setting, and iso setting, given that I will be taking the photos by hand, and not with a tripod. 5. I am in need of some candid advice. I have been best friends with this girl for 10 years. I love her to death, she's like a sister to me. The problem is, I feel like we may be growing apart. Well, I feel like I am growing apart from her. We're both 24, I am now married, she is not, but that really isn't the issue. I just think that as I get older I develop more values and morals and she doesn't seem to want to mature. She is hypocritical, lacks respect for others, sleeps around wayyyyyyyy too much, with toooo many men. I don't judge her, I just want a friend that can contribute more to the friendship, other than, what clubs she went to this weekend, how wasted she got, who she f**ed, and oh that she f**ed the guy's friends too. She has never had a steady job in her entire life, she either gets fired because she is always late, because she was partying the night before, she lives off men and uses them for money and all they can offer. Quit college because she would rather party than get an education. I would like to do normal things that girlfriends do, like go shopping, go out for coffee, go to the beach, etc. All she wants to do is party and have sex with guys she meets at bars and clubs. I just want to know that it isn't wrong of me to want to move on from the friendship and perhaps find other friends who are on the same page in life as I am in life, or at least close.I just want to add that the fact that I am married has nothing to do with me not wanting to be friends with her anymore. Over the years I have just been able to ignore her actions because it didn't seem like such a big deal when we were younger and just having fun. Now that were older, the person she has become really, for lack of a better word, disgusts me.Thank you all so much for your advice and you are all so right. These are things that I have been biting my tongue to say to her because I don't want to hurt her or make her feel bad, but yes, she does need help and I am not the only one of our friends who feels this way. I'm a very artistic person. I love trying new things and expressing my creativity in many ways including painting, music, poetry and lately- photography. I bought a camera on my trip to the philippines last summer and I had a great time taking candid photos of the natives and capturing the spirit of this beautiful country. However on the last few weeks of the trip, my camera broke and I missed out on some amazing shoots. Now my dilemma is; if I'm going to get into photography- I want a camera that will last. I'm looking into the Olympus Stylus tough 6000 which is waterproof/shockproof/freeze-proof you name it- which would surely fit my active lifestyle on my trips to the beach or up to mountains. Now my question is, despite the few hundred I would spending on this camera- would it be worth it to get into photography itself? Or should I settle with a lesser camera and not worry about being a "Photographer" since I already do so much and may not have time to commit myself to the trade. I'm looking for your personal experiences. Some inspiration into what it means to be a photographer rather then just being a guy/girl snapping photos. I am in NO way supporting or advocating child exploitation, but I was always curious. I can understand why seductively posed nudes and sexual acts involving children are considered bad, but why random nudity? When I was in Europe, people of all ages were nude at beaches, including children. People were taking pictures, and I don't think most of them were thinking about child pornography. Resolved Question: What are some good ideas on filming a documentary?

My friend and I are planning on making this graduation gift, by filming our classmates through the whole year and the problems and situations they go through. So, we are sort of doing a Laguna Beach/The Hills-esque movie. But our problem is, we have 50 or more students in our class, and we cannot just focus it on a single student. How can we be able to make a Laguna Beach-esque movie, when we are not using any scripts and everything is just candid? I don't get it. My friend is a photographer and he took hundreds and thousands of beautifully candid pictures of people around cities etc etc. no one called the police on him. I wanted to follow his footsteps so I've been practicing photography. I took a picture of a father and daughter going into the beach holding hands and the picture was perfect because the water and colored umbrellas made the picture look neat. Voting Question: I'm afraid to take a chance on traveling, and I need your advice, please?

I am 33 years old, have no wife or kids, no current job, and live with my parents (but I'm going to graduate from college in December). So, I've lived a somewhat sheltered life, to be candid. I was thinking about traveling, by myself, to the outer banks of North Carolina (the beach) tomorrow and staying a few days. The coast is about an 8 hour drive from where I live. Once there, I want to camp, which will cost me approximately $25 a night, and I would sleep in my van. My van is 23 years old, and although I haven't had any severe problems with it lately, I am worried about what I would do if I got stuck. I'm also worried about being lonely, being bored, and being depressed. I'm afraid of not being able to find a camp ground to park my van at. However, on the other hand, I love the ocean, walking in the sand, reading, and swimming. But quite honestly, I am somewhat fearful of going, because I am afraid that I might be making a bad decision. Advice, please? Thanks. more
