Resolved Question: Is it possible to buy a nice house in a nice city, near beach, in Colombia, for less than 100 000 €?
I mean, a big white house with at least 3 rooms, a big garden, and a roof terrace. With "colonial" architecture style, made of white stone. moreResolved Question: Seoul or Ho Chi Minh City?
Hi, Am looking at the possibility of going to either of the above two cities next year and just wondering which is better. From what I gather: - Both seem to have nice modern downtowns and pagodas - HCMC has the Chu Chi Tunnels, Seoul has the DMZ and it's tunnels - HCMC has the beaches of Vung Tao near it, Seoul has Eurwangni Beach nearish to it - HCMC has some French colonial buildings in it, Seoul has...some Japanese ones. - HCMC has the Mekong Delta outside of it while Seoul has good hiking in the hills outside it. I am interested in visiting Vietnam, especially for the historic element to it. However, it requires a visa and getting there from Dublin, Ireland is a bit of a pain(Dublin - Frankfurt - Bangkok - HCMC with Lufthansa being the most likely option). Korea doesn't require a visa to enter it and Etihad are starting flights to Seoul in December so Dublin - Abu Dhabi - Seoul would be a lot easier than reaching Saigon. Seoul looks a bit like Tokyo which I was in before and didn't really like, but are they very different? If the attractions of both cities are similar, then Seoul might be easier especially as it is in a richer country and English is probably more widely spoken. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks, Brian. moreResolved Question: Would I get enough of a flavour for Vietnam......?
...if I just went to Ho Chi Minh City for a week without going to Hanoi too? I am very likely going to go to Vietnam in late February / early March next year and have made out the following itinary for visiting HCMC: (Day 1) Land at 6:00 PM and go to hotel (Day 2) Take a general walking look around the city (Day 3) Visit Reunification Palace and Mariamman Hindu Temple (Day 4) Visit the War Remnants Museum (Day 5) Cu Chi Tunnels & Cao Dai Temple Excursion (Viator?) (Day 6) Go snorkeling with sharks in Hai Thanh Aquarium (Day 7) Day trip to Mekong Delta (Viator?) (Day 8) Get hydrofoil to Vung Tao beach and fly back home If I was able to rope someone in to come along, I would very likely head up to Hanoi too however, if I can't, I'd likely just go with the above. If you look at most of the things Hanoi has going for it - e.g. lovely French Colonial buildings, historic monuments to Vietnam's past, pagodas and scenery outside of it such as Halong Bay - it seems that HCMC has all of these too (Mekong Delta near it etc.) so the above should be enough if going solo. What do you all think or have you anything to add? Thanks a mil'!!! Brian.By the way, has anyone used myvietnamvisa.com to get the "Visa on Arrival"? Are they a good service or a scam? Thanks guys for the answers. Just to clarify, if I was going to Hanoi, I would still do the same itinary that I've attached for Saigon but take some extra time to go to Hanoi. This would make the trip last about two weeks. However, if I have to go solo, I would unlikely want to do the two weeks unless it was REALLY worth it and that would be my question to all of you. Also, to expand on the answers you've given, I would likely be staying in Long Guesthouse which is in District 1 (219/7 Pham Ngu Lao) - would this put the likes of the Reunification Palace etc. within walking distance? Is there much to see in Vung Tao? Also, what are the advantages of the Visa on Arrival vs. applying to the consulate in advance? Thanks again! moreResolved Question: Which is better to vacation for 12 days in Sept, Venezuela or Columbia?
My friend and I are debating between Columbia and Venezuela. We would like to relax on nice remote beaches, check out some of the colonial architecture and whatnot. And hopefully a few days in the Andes and Amazon basin. Which country would you recommend based on price / beaches/ease of getting around / nature / beauty / night-life. Thanks in advance! moreResolved Question: which resort should i stay in punta cana?
my choices are Barcelo dominican beach resort, caribe club princess, NHroyal beach resort, Gran bahia principe bavaro, or the majestic colonial... After reading the reviews online i am even MORE confused as to which to book... So many mixed reviews for all of these resorts, PLEASE help :) thank you moreResolved Question: Emiratis and Brits. What is the problem?
The events over the past few months have left me clueless at the love-hate relationship enjoyed between these 2 countrymen (and women of course). While the Emiratis have always favoured the Britishers with preferential business deals, generated employment to the Imperial yet unemployed, beer guzzling "men of the queen", the Britishers do not seem to reciprocate these good gestures. They violate every law here. First they fornicate on the beach, then a british lady seduces an Arab janitor and alleges rape, then a couple exchange body fluids (saliva) in front of a local child. Now, someone bites a policeman !!!! When would they learn to reciprocate. One Irishman was honest as he gulped his Cider down and said. "We have a Give-and-take relationship". They Give and we take. I just think, they cant live with each other. They also cant live without each other as well. The enlightened patrons of this forum can probably find more physiological and neurological reasons for this sheer contempt and absolute disregard shown by the erstwhile colonial superpower's diaspora. Please?
The next day Elizabeth began her life as scullery maid, fetching and carrying, washing and cooking, she lived amongst the workers , sleeping on the same wooden floorboards with a thread bare blanket. Most normal girls would have been distraught at the thought of having to live as one of their staff however Elizabeth wasn’t ‘normal’ so took it all in her stride, even the uniform. All female servants were required to wear a fitted dress made from yellowing cotton and brown wool. Little black pumps were required to be worn on ones feet at all times although the outfit was scratchy and uncomfortable Elizabeth preferred it to her old clothes, she even liked that she had to have her hair pulled off of her face in a tight pony tail that swished at the bottom of her back when she walked. Thomas and Elizabeth spent every evening together, walking along the long, sandy, twisty, beaches as the sun set in front of them every moment they were together the more they fell in love. The two months passed by so quickly, by the end of it Elizabeth had made friends with all the staff and her and Thomas were planning on eloping together. Their love was pure and new and strong they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with each other not in secret. They had planned to run away two weeks after the end of the banning, but Albert had spies and he knew of their plans, he was going to stop it happening if it killed him. In 1499 my, great, great, great, grandfather Albert Tredger married a young woman originally called Elizabeth Callaghan. She was only a young girl, a mere 12 Year’s old when she married him. Unlike most girls of that time she was aiming for bigger things then just being a wife to some man, but she had no choice her father had chosen Albert for her and she could not disobey him. Elizabeth never loved him, not even after spending ten years of marriage together. Even though she hated it she got on with her life, as his “play thing”. People came from near and far to Albert’s grand yet traditional, colonial era mansion to get a slice of Elizabeth’s steak and kidney pie and maybe even a glimpse of beauty. People always told Elizabeth she was lucky and had everything any girl could wish for, sky blue eyes, luscious locks of golden brown hair and a slim figure any women would die for. Albert bought her anything she wanted but even though she had all those things Elizabeth was still not happy she only wanted one thing and she couldn’t have it, her freedom. Instead of the life she dreamed about she got to parade around in huge ball gowns with a corset underneath and sleep with a pot bellied man who was rapidly balding. Thanks first person to help sort it out gets best answer =) moreResolved Question: I need a good character names for a girl & guy in my novel! Help!! (Set in present day)?
****Need a name for both the main/secondary characters. The girl, seventeen, and the guy, almost eighteen.**** She has brown, wavy, beach hair - lives in Atlanta, Georgia. Her parents are divorced and she goes to stay with her Father in Colonial Beach, Virginia. She ends up staying for the entire summer and does not want to leave. She falls in love while she is there, and the ending is sad. They are torn apart and never speak to each other again. She has brilliantly, bright, blue eyes and is seventeen. He, (name for the guy she falls in love with as well as herself), has light brown hair that falls into his eyes a lot. His eyes are bright green and shimmer in the sunlight. He has two younger sisters and (the main character (the girl)) admires him for that. They both felt the spark between them but did not talk after meeting for three weeks. They talk for the first time on the ocean, after her father and her have a fight - she gets into trouble with the cops while she is there. A guy from her church, (that her father makes her attend, she doesnt want to go (makes her go after she gets into trouble)), likes her a lot. I admit the scenery in America can get magnificent (in places)....what a beautiful country. The California typography is surreal, from the Desert to the Pacific to the Redwoods to the valley to San Francisco Bay to the vineyards to the Sierra to Yosemite....to Big Sur.....to Hollywood and the celebrities.....it MAKES America! I am doing a Spanish project and I just read the top of the page and it says it has to be written in Spanish and not in English. I just wrote the whole thing in English because that is what we usually do for culture projects. I would use a translator but they are never accurate. Please please please help! Thank you!! Here is what needs to be translated from English to Spanish: Uruguay is surrounded on three sides by water. To the west is the Uruguay River. To the southwest is the Rio de la Plata. The Atlantic Ocean is in the southeast. Brazil lies to the north of Uruguay. Capital The capital of Uruguay is called Montevideo. Montevideo is a port and is Uruguay’s largest city consisting of over 1,000,000 people. It was established in 1726 originally as a military base and is located in the south part of the country. Population Uruguay’s population is about 3.5 million people. 8810 are of European descent. President Dr. Tabare Vazquez is the current president, elected October 31st, 2004. The climate is mild. Uruguay has warm to hot summers and cool to cold winters. During the winter, Uruguay sometimes gets polar air because of its latitude. In the summer, however, it gets tropical air from Brazil. History Uruguay was originally settled by the Spanish and Portugese in the 1600’s. The Spanish used cattle. They became a factor in the increase of wealth of the country. The capital, Montevideo was founded mostly because of its natural harbor. Culture Because of the different conquerors and immigrants, Uruguay has a diverse culture. The architecture varies from Colonial fortresses to modern urban areas. There are many writers, artists, and musicians. Carlos Vilaro is one of the well known sculptors of Uruguay. There is even a carnival similar to Mardi Gras. Tourist Attractions There are modern skyscrapers, cathedrals, and historic areas in Montevideo, the capital. The historic district called “Old Town” is a popular attration. In the summer, there are beaches and resorts. The beautiful Punta del Diablo is also popular with the tourists. This dream may be very very strange to you, as I am 16 and have aspergers syndrome; but please try and follow me as well as you can. Here we go: So I start in this HUGE landscape full of rolling hills and sandy plains. All of a sudden i'm next to a house, then I start to walk away from it. My step-mother appears out of nowhere and starts threatening me and cursing at me for no reason. Then all of a sudden I appear inside a volcano. I'm walking along and the deeper I get the creatures that I meet get scarier and scarier. Out of nowhere this crazy over-sized wolf just barely attacks me with his toxic-like fangs, then I wake up. I proceed to fall back asleep as it was only 5am. I'm still in the volcano and the creatures get even scarier. They range from grayish brown blobs of goop to mountain like slime with incredibly disoriented faces. For some reason, I keep on going while everyone behind me runs away scared out of their minds. I hear screaming and yelling as people are getting murdered and dismembered like it's the holocaust times 5. Skyscrapers in the volcano proceed to slowly get eaten up by the disjointed blobs. The volcano starts to erupt and rocks below me are separating, revealing the magma below. I try to run away but the rocks and lava keep rising. I turn and run the wrong direction while other people run through a hole in the volcano. I see my 20 year old sister get killed as she falls into a pit of magma. The rocks and magma push me into the walls of volcano and I proceed to get squashed, then I wake up again. It was 6am, not wanting to fall asleep again, I still did. I then was watching a really funny video with something to do about aliens disguised as humans coming to earth and trying to teach me and my sister a valuable lesson about who knows what. Shortly thereafter, I appear inside the video I was watching but this time with a little twist. While driving with the aliens in a convertible through retro looking hills, they started making love right in front of me, but it looked like 16-bit sex that comes out of a SNES. Quickly, I jump ahead to a beach with me and the aliens and my 2 sisters driving with me. For a strange reason, we crash and roll down a hill into a gloomy harbor. I had a dream just like this about 2 years ago which I amazingly recall, in that dream I proceeded to freeze to death in the pool, but this time we all manage to wash up to a beach totally randomly. The aliens and my sisters "teleported" to a small shack near the beach. As I walked through the beach it was really populated with a bunch of people lying on the sand relaxing. I finally got to the shack and the alien revealed himself as a mix of an alien and predator from the movie "AVP". I then realized I was again recalling another dream I had a year ago, but with a few things different. I was looking at some sort of incredibly modern control interface with all sorts of buttons and controls. The alien spoke to me and said "what makes you a quality leader?" I then described to him how good of a leader I was and these numbers on the control interface started to rise. In the dream I had a year ago, the numbers rose to 42% "leader". This time it rose to 76.8% "leader". He than interrupted me and said "If you think you're such a good leader then why don't you control this and prevent it from happening!!" "These are the buttons you need to press, pull, turn, and press the yellow button!". The button said "prevent peace". He then proceeded to turn a knob with a timer on it and said "I give you 2 minutes!". He stormed off. I started hearing something from a microphone near me and said "This is colonial *blurred out voice* can anyone hear me?" His image was projected on the monitor near me. He and this other alien were both arguing whether or not to destroy the home planet of the AVP alien. I was trying to talk and voice my opinion and tell them what's right but I couldn't, my mouth felt numb. All of a sudden the planet on the monitor explodes and the AVP alien rushes in and shouts "how could you do this to me?!" A gravity hammer from Halo 3 was sitting right next to him and I decided to kill him. I picked up the hammer and just as I was about to chop is head off everything flashed and it skipped ahead to 10 seconds later, with his head lying on the ground while I remained woundless. I woke up shortly after, totally dazed and confused as to what the hell just happened. So anyone want to give this monster of a dream a shot and explain this for me?How can this dream POSSIBLY be something I just think about out of the blue? Way too complex.I don't play video games. moreResolved Question: All-inclusives in Cayo Guillermo/Cayo Coco, Cuba.?
Hi all. I am pregnant and I want to make sure I go to a good hotel. I remember when I went to Varadero (and I will never ever return), the hotels in the magazine looked very modern and nice. You get there and the side of the buildings are black with the stucco half off and old. I don't want the same for this time. The food was also horrible. It was the same every day, the cola was not your usual Coke or Pepsi or Crush, it was.. home brand? And it was flat and hot. The standard room had cold water, and bug blood splattered here and there on the walls. I don't want to see any cockroaches, not dead, not alive. I will never have that experience again, I hope or I will damn all of Cuba. Anyone can please rate these 4 star hotels? - Tryp Cayo Coco - Blau Colonial - Iberostar Daiquiri - Melia Cayo Guillermo - Oasis Playa Coco - NH Krystal Laguna (which is probably bad) I appreciate that only those who have had experiences answer this question. I don't want links to hotels or stuff like that, I can do that on my own. I would like you to tell me about: - the accomodations (room quality, insects, cleanliness) - the service in restaurants and maid, especially front desk, and in general - any bribes? For example they give you a shit room and then ask you for $20 per day for an upgrade. - the food, is it safe, tasty, repetitive? - the grounds and the pool. Are there enough chairs for everyone, on the beach and near the pool? - how is the snack bar service? In a hotel in Varadero, there was no concept of priority of who arrives first, it was based on who looked more threatening to the guy serving. The woman had to come to eliminate this nonsense. - Did you get sick from the food or water there? - Do they give you bottled water to take to your room? I thank you all. moreResolved Question: What should I do to make a week out of Williamsburg, VA?

Im soo confused. I am newly married to a navy active duty member. We enrolled me in prime which took affect June 1st. I live in VA beach, just moved here and am 20 weeks pregnant. I havent had my last prenatal appointment since May 6th before I moved when I had different insurance.... I was assigned a civilian PCM which referred me to Virginia Beach OBGYN on 1181 first colonial and when I go to the tricare site etc I do not see that under In-network or preferred network provider or anything. However, the referral to go there was approved by tricare. Sooo, with that referral does that mean tricare will pay for everything even though it's a civilian obgyn. Would they not have approved it if it wasnt in network? Im waiting on the letter now and an appointment as well as the transfer of all my prenatal records from my old doctor. I guess all of this could take another couple of weeks, Im already 5 weeks overdue since my last check up... Im just worried that even though the referral was approved, that Im being sent to a doctor that isnt approved and even with prime, Ill have to pay. So confused? any suggestions. moreResolved Question: summer in Virginia...what to do?

Greed and ambition are powerful emotions that have the power to destroy innocence. Steinbeck shares this message with his readers in The Pearl as he shows the changes in the main character, Kino, when he finds himself “the Pearl of the World”. At the beginning of the story Kino shows a great love for his life and family; he would wake up to the sound of little splashes of morning waves on the beach and his wife cooking, and would see a perfect morning. Before the pearl Kino was a simple, loving, and humble man whom was content and satisfied with his life. For Kino the pearl first represented victory and triumph. It represented hope, a life free from the restraints of colonial oppression. The discovery of the pearl seemed a happy accident, one that corrected the tragic accident of Coyotito's scorpion sting. Kino saw a new life for his family and himself. With the pearl, Kino planned on getting new clothes for the family, getting married in a church, have his son Coyotito go to school, and then, saw himself buying a rifle. Wanting the rifle was the change in Kino, for the rifle represents power. He was now seeing how the pearl would bring him power rather than the good it would bring his family. Greed and ambition began to fill him. He starts to get caught up on the riches that came with the pearl and forgets the good things he already had. The pearl quickly began to transform from a symbol of hope to a symbol of evil. Jealousy and distrust soon surrounded the town of La Paz. Kino’s greed and ambition turned him into a criminal. Protecting the pearl shortly leaded him to behave violently toward his wife, and to the murder of four men. The pearl no longer holds the same promises it did when he first found it. It cost Kino his canoe, home, and his only son. He gained a pearl “as large as a sea gull’s egg” and as “perfect as the moon” but because of his greed and desire, he lost it and more. What am i missing? Is everything written correctly? opinions? thanx in advance. moreResolved Question: Northeast/Upper East Coast Road Trip Vacation?
Hi, my family been thinking of going on a roadtrip out to the northeast US, and want to stop at nice places along the way. Our first idea was go to Virginia and stay a few nights in VA beach and then maybe a night in "colonial williamsburg", VA. then maybe head north to Washington DC for a few nights, then maybe up to new york, maybe a night in the city, or just a day visit, then see some countryside, then maybe Niagra Falls (dunno if its any good on US side). I figured this would be about a 2-3 week trip possibly, if we do all this. Any suggestions?? On particular places to stay?? We are going to drive out from Detroit, Michigan area. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Spring Break in Virginia. What can you do in...Virginia? :(?
Ugh. My parents want us to drive down to Virginia for the weekend. See Williamsburg, Jamestown and go to Busch Gardens. What can you do at Williamsburg? I mean, its all museums and staring at houses. For a teenager this is no fun. So what other fun stuff can you do in Virginia. And I really want to go to a beach and tan. That's what I've been looking forward to, NOT colonial times. moreResolved Question: Help me find a place in Australia?
Hi, I really need help from Australian people for a matter that may seem very weird: I have a memory of a place in Australia and I can't figure it out what place exactly it is. It would be a long story to explain, but believe me, it's a lifetime that I try... So please, I'll give you all the clues that I've got and I hope someone can give me any suggestion. It's a small city, there are some small white palaces, and some broken white walls between the street and the beach; the beach is not very large, the sand is pale, the sea is light-blue. There are sand dunes all around. In the citycentre the is a round square and a bus terminal. There are some souvenir shops in a colonial style, with a big marble roofing and white columns. Nearby the city there is countryside. I know it's all very vague but it's the best I can do. Probably it will be impossible for everyone to figure this place out, but thanks anyway! :) moreResolved Question: Which place should I go for Spring Break?
I have 2 kids, 11 & 9. We are either going to Williamsburg, Virginia to go to Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens or go to Paradise Island in the Bahamas and go to Atlantis. Atlantis is more money; we have to fly but my kids want to do that more. Williamsburg is more educational and my daughter is going to learn about next year in school. What do you think we should do? My daughter is scared of flying over water but she would do it if she got to go to Atlantis and she would enjoy Atlantis when we got there. My son is scared of water slides like Mayan Temple/Dead Mans Drop in Atlantis but he loves beaches and going and hanging out at the pools. We live in Connecticut and we want to go somewhere warm. Where do you think we should go? My husband would travel with us. Thx! moreResolved Question: History Help!!!!!!!!!!!!?

I know we have discussed this before, but I'm still curious. Some people talk about having "themes" for their weddings. Sometimes it can be something elaborate, like a Halloween theme, beach theme, mardi gras theme, Twilight theme, Romeo and Juliet theme, colonial theme, etc. Sometimes the theme seems to be an object, like hearts or doves or so on. And sometimes the theme is something more intangible, like "Sailing off into the sunset," "Robbed by love," "Traveling the world together" or goodness who knows. I don't get wedding themes. Never had and still don't. When people say, "I need to find a theme for my wedding" what exactly do they mean? Do they mean one of the elaborate things above, like "Should my wedding be Peter Pan themed, or should it be a Christmas in July theme?" Or, on the other hand, by "theme" do they mean the style and general appearance of the event, like the underlying design? If so, then maybe more of us have themes than we thought? For example, say my fiance and I really like orange and yellow polka dots. So we put orange and yellow polka dots on our invitations. Then we decide to put them on our wedding website. Then we find a way to incorporate them into the BM dresses or the menus or the decorations at the reception. So, does that mean we have a theme of orange and yellow polka dots? Just curious what ya'll think. I don't think weddings need themes at all -- it's a wedding! That's the theme! -- but some consistent design elements do make sense to me. moreResolved Question: what time does first colonial start?
