Beaches In Alabama Questions asked

Open Question: Why are Florida's Gulf Coast beaches so much better-looking than beaches on the AL, MS, and TX Gulf Coasts?

I first thought it was the composition of the sand, as I was directly comparing Gulf Coast beaches in Northwest Florida such as those in Pensacola, Destin, and Panama City (which all have sugary-white sand), to the beach at South Padre Island, Texas (which has darker beige sand). But then I looked at photos of beaches near Northwest Florida but in the adjacent states of Alabama and Mississippi -- Dauphin Island/Mobile and Gulf Shores in Alabama and Biloxi in Mississippi. Those beaches have the same nice white sand that the Florida beaches do but the water colour is different. In Northwest Florida, the water is a tropical emerald blue-green colour, as you'd find in the Carribean or the Bahamas, while the water in Alabama and Mississippi (and Texas) is mostly a dull, dark blue-brownish colour. It seems like the proverbial God has blessed Florida with better beaches than the other Gulf Coast states, even when these other states' beaches are just miles away from the beautiful ones in Florida. What's the deal? The muddy Mississippi River empties out southeastward in Louisiana west of all the beaches in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida, so I'm not sure it greatly affects those beaches, and South Padre Island in Texas is far, far south of the Mississippi River's mouth (and away from the direction that it empties out), so it would seem unlikely that the river would have much impact on the colour of the water in Texas. South Padre Island is even Texas's most beautiful beach (which still doesn't compare to those in Northwest Florida), with beaches farther north on the state's Gulf Coast such as Port Aransas and Galveston being uglier and browner. Why have Texas, Alabama, and Mississippi been shafted when it comes to beach beauty while Florida has taken all the blessings? Obviously, this has to do with Mother Nature, but Nature seems to have been very unfair to all the Gulf Coast states but Florida, if we are to judge. more

Resolved Question: Would you go to Panama City Beach or Gulf Shores for vacation in April?

I have been to Panama many, many times. We stay at Edgewater... its pretty nice and you don't have to worry about teens and stuff like that there. Its an all girls trip... my aunts and people. Would you prefer we go back there or try Gulf Shores in Alabama? I have never been there but for some reason it turns me off. Maybe just because its not in Florida. I don't know. What do you think? Any advice? Have you been to both? Or anywhere else that is close to these places? Thanks Ps. Anyone have info. about how the weather is there in April? more

Resolved Question: Florida Spring Break Question, PLEASE HELP ASAP?

I need advice quick I’m planning a vacation for Spring Break, and I don’t know where I want to go. I want to go somewhere warm, but with a upbeat atmosphere I was thinking about Florida. I would love to go to Panama since it is spring break season but I’m afraid it wont be warm enough there. Also I am 21 and I’m taking a few of my friends and my sister and two of her friends they are 17 and 18. So I’m going to need something to entertain all age groups and Disney world is out of the question. We want to go to a pretty and fun beach with like a typical board walk and the touristy shops. So the question is where is a fun place in Florida to go that is semi affordable and has something to do for all age groups. My sister wanted to go the Miami or Fort Lauderdale but I’m afraid the clubs are 21+ and all they would do is sit up in the room. I don’t want to go into the Keys because airfare is ridiculous I wish that Myrtle beach or Hilton Head was warm this time of year. Keep in mind we don’t have to go to Florida just somewhere with a beach that has nice weather, I go to bowling green state university in Ohio so we are all looking to get out of the cold. By the way someone mentioned California or Alabama but I am not familiar with that area. Also the places you suggest, if you could please suggest a hotel you have stayed at in the past or have found would be great. Thanks :)What does anyone know about South Padre Island more

Voting Question: How do you station a ship on a place with no ports to dock a ship?

Asked by Liberal Asskicker " 70% of Haiti is beach-front property. Couldn't we have landed 50 ships full of military personnel by now? We have probably 100 ships on the East Coast in Virginia, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Texas. It takes 5-10 hours to steam to Haiti, 2-3 days from Virginia. Where was Obama for the last 3 days? "A. You dock your ship in the Dominican Republic, that has the closest port to the area effected. B. You ground your ship, in shallow water. And swim with the supplies the rest of the way. C. You stay off shore, and send supplies one small boat at a time. D. You let someone who knows what he is doing, some who would pick answer A.Does anyone realize the unnecessary financial and time cost that having small boats, Zodiacs, LCACs and the likes transport supply one at the time. Do you know how much man power it would take too load each one every time. The waste of fuel, hence money to do this. And the time to get the whole evolution complete.@TruthSee You obviously never served in the military. "Not to difficult". I like to see try loading cargo off from a ship. in the middle of the ocean. more

Resolved Question: Beach house rentals at Gulf Shores, Alabama?

The beach house rentals seem reasonable and although not exactly fancy, very adequate and very near the beach. Does anyone know if the rental houses in this area are worth the money (about $100 a day in the spring, which is when we would be there). This place is 2 bedrooms, 3 beds, and a pull out couch...can sleep 6, has washer and dryer and all amenties you expect at home. It's average quality, nothing fancy. more

Resolved Question: Is Gulf Shores, Alabama a good place to vacation?

I am near Des Moines, Iowa, it's just under 1,000 miles. I have been to Florida many times, but my wife has never been to the Gulf (ocean). We wanted a trip that wasn't going to take forever, and yet have a decent family beach area. Seems there's a water park and zoo there as well. I think we are actually going to stay in Foley, as I know how outrageous beach hotels can be. Basically, I am asking anyone who has been to the public beach at Gulf Shores if it is decent, if they have natural beaches where you can find shells, and if April would be warm enough to swim. Thanks for all the information!! more

Resolved Question: What do you think of the Tennessee accent?

So, yea. I'm from Tennessee, and boy do I have that accent. I mean, I'm not a hick or anything, lord naw! But, I have that Tennessee twang :) You know Nashville, TN where Miley Cyrus is from? I live about an hour from there. And my parents live at the beach in Georgia (Tybee Island, where Miley Cyrus filmed a movie at this past summer!). And when I go down there to visit and I talk in public, I feel really stupid. And most people think, oh, well they're Southern too! But no, no one sound as bad as Tennessee and Alabama (we're worse than Alabama though). Do you like the accent, or hate it? Thanks.Sorry, wrong category. But if you can help that'd be great! more

Resolved Question: What do you think of my story? Have any opinions/ suggestions.?

Trapped in the Forest There were three animals: Martin, the parrot; Grace, the cat; and Mark, the goat. The three animals were best friends. They live in a village in Texas. The three planned to go to Daytona Beach, Florida. They were excited to go to the beach. From Texas to Florida, the three has to cross these three states: Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. The three had crossed Louisiana and now they’re in Mississippi. While driving in Mississippi, the three were unaware and had no idea that there’s a tornado behind them. The tornado carried away the car they were riding in. “I hope we don’t die” Mark said. The car they were riding in landed in the middle of a forest in Mississippi. Martin had a headache because he was badly hurt, had bruises on his right wing and left leg. Grace had a big, bloody wound on her back, and cuts on her face and legs. Mark’s leg was aching and had bruises all over his body. “This is hopeless” Grace said. “Don’t lose hope” Martin said. “I hope we can get out of here soon, without getting eaten, or killed by a lion, tiger, or snake” Grace said. “I was not expecting this to happen to us” Martin said.“Oh no! The glasses of my car are broken, and a door of my car is missing and one of the wheels of my car is flat” Mark said. “That’s terrible” Martin said. Grace looked around and saw a lion near them. “Quick hide! There’s a lion nearby” Grace said. They hid at the back of the car. The lion did not see them. While they were trapped in the forest, Mark ate the grasses and fishes there, Grace ate the fishes there, and Martin ate some worms and fishes. They drank water from the river in the forest. They also took a bath in the river. They also cured their bruises and wounds using their First Aid Kit. After 20 days, all their bruises and wounds are cured. They also pray everyday that they will get out of the forest soon and they’ll be safe there. Moreover, they always tried to find ways to get out of the forest, but they always fail. They felt unhappy, worried, and afraid everyday. They were almost eaten by lions, tigers, and snakes, but they were always lucky enough not to get eaten by those animals. Those animals just wounded them. Their families, friends, and relatives are worried already and they were crying everyday. They felt unhappy, worried, and afraid everyday, and they told about them to the police. They tried to find them everywhere and everyday but no one has a clue where they are. Their families, friends, and relatives thought that they were dead because of a car accident or they drowned in the beach, or someone abducted them and never set them free. They tried calling their families, friends, and relatives through the cellphone but Grace lost her cellphone because of the tornado. Martin forgot to bring his cellphone and it’s at his house in Texas. On the day when they were trapped in the forest because the tornado blew away their car, Mark was standing up while playing games in his cellphone, then he accidentally slipped and his cellphone fell in the river. A week after the 20th day, the three decided to sleep at the back of the car. They forgot to close the back of the car. Mark woke up because he felt like he was being watched. He checked what it was and he was shocked to see an anaconda in the car. He quickly gets the things they are going to use and wear in the beach, and their food. He woke up Grace and Martin. The three ran so fast while the anaconda was trying to chase and swallow them. The three were able to find a way to get out of the forest. The anaconda wasn’t able to chase them. “Yehey!!! We’re out of the forest” the three shouted happily. Mark’s car is still in the forest. The three just rode in a bus going to Daytona Beach, Florida. They crossed Alabama and they already reached Florida. They had fun there and they stayed there for four days. They went back to Texas and they told to their families, friends, and relatives of what happened to them and they thanked God that they’re still alive. Martin, Grace, Mark, their friends, relatives, and families are all crying when they saw each other. more

Resolved Question: beach wedding location?

I'm trying to find a venue to hold a beach wedding either in south alabama or northwest florida. I would prefer a hotel on the beach where we could just have the wedding outside, then walk right in to the reception inside the hotel, but I'm on a limited budget and I'm not sure what's available. If anyone has any suggestions of venues or possible locations that I could hold the wedding and reception, please let me know. I need actual buildings though, not just towns. more

Resolved Question: Any ideas for a cultural project?

I have a project due in a few weeks for my college communications class and I'm a little short on ideas of what to do. My professor gave out ideas such as visiting an indian reservation, going to a gay bar, attending a nudist beach, going to a bar-mitzvah, eating at a different restaurant (Egyptian, Lebanese, etc.), amongst other things I managed to forget. Anyone have any more ideas. I don't want to do something simple like eating at a restaurant whose food's name I can't pronounce. If it helps, I live close to Houston, Texas. The only indian reservation here is the Alabama-(something) Reservation. I should put out a disclaimer that despite being 19, my parents wont allow me to go somewhere too crazy like a nudist beach or travel far. Also, I'm Hispanic, so I cannot do something that is related to my culture. Thank you for your help. more

Resolved Question: What stereotypes are there about where you are from? And what is the TRUTH?

I'm from Alabama and every time I travel out of state and tell someone where I'm from, they make it sound as if it's a dirty, redneck, boring place to live and that all the people there are slow and uneducated. When in actuality, I think Alabama is one of the most beautiful states around. In the Northern part of the state there are lots of rolling hills/mountains/forests as it is at the tail end of the Appy Mountain range, while in the Southernmost part of the state we have some of the most amazing beaches you can find in this country. It's hot as heck in the summertime but it's perfect in spring, fall, and winters are even comfortable. My husband, myself, and my child were riding down the interstate just 2 days ago, leaving from the beach when we got pulled over. My husband had reached over me to grab his phone from where it was from when he was driving before we switched an hour or so earlier. A sheriff pulls us over immediately yelling at us to get out of the car, swearing that he saw my husband hit me. He proceeded to call me a F*ing liar, and that he knows my husband used to beat me. Used derogatory phrases towards my husband and myself. It was then he called in for a Deputy to come and arrest my husband for domestic violence, when there werent even any marks on me, and wouldnt be considering he didnt touch me. Needless to say the deputy arrested my husband off of just his word, from then he immediately put my husband in the car without reading him his rights or telling him what he was arrested for. Once detained, he was never allowed to make a phone call to a family member, attorney, or even a bondsman. He was never told of when he would be going to court, or what he may have to do to get himself out. I tried to call numerous times, and after finally being told it would be early Monday morning, arrived there (2 hours away from our home) only to be jerked around some more they stated to me they couldnt find his paperwork and they wouldnt know when he would be going to court, that it could be tomorrow or the next day. After doing some reasearch i have discovered that Alabama law states that for domestic violence there is only a 12 hour holding time and then the defendant should be able to bond his or herself out. He was held for a total of 24 hours where he was completely mistreated on the inside of the jail. I have no clue what to do or where to go from here, im looking for some advice. Any advice. My family has gone through emotional distress the last 2 days due to all of this, were both full time students, workers, and parents. I ended up losing my job due to all of this. If anyone has any insight that they would like to give to me. Please feel free. I have begun calling lawyers, well my husband has, he can speak more clearly for how he was treated on the inside of the jail, but i have include information that he has stated as well. My husband is a great man, wonderful provider, & father. We literally depend on him for almost everything. . not to mention were full time students. - - N O , he did not hit me. - - & 2 , we were going at least 75 miles an hour, while it had been on and off again raining, (hence. our back window was somewhat foggy) - - im just hoping that there is someway that this may get dropped, what do you think.what i just told you was the real story? why even bother commenting if you dont believe what i have to say. .i lost my job due to being in a place 2 hours away from where my job was actually located, in a tiny backwoods county, that isnt even on the map. more

Resolved Question: Please rate my poem for english 2?

Where I’m from I’m from the big grapefruit tree in our backyard; the adventures it would behold. I’m from a bowl of cold, sugared strawberries. I’m from cool, fresh sheets on the bed. I’m from the rumble of a plane passing overhead. I’m from the lullaby of a summer storm. I’m from the races to the heater on a cold winter morning. I’m from Easter egg hunts in the local park. I’m from playing in the sprinklers on a hot day. From getting my older brother into trouble for no reason. I’m from bicycle races down the street. I’m from free samples of fruit at Oakes Farms market. I’m from playing outside for 6 hours, coming in for a drink, and going back out to play. From the tantalizing smell of slow cooked home-made pot roast. I’m from the wild imagination of a 7 year old. I’m from birthday party sleepovers. From lemonade stands, and 20 bucks per lawn mowed. ($10 front yard, $10 backyard. Tip not included.) I’m from hitting little plastic golf balls in the front yard for hours at a time. I’m from fishing trips with the family. I’m from elaborate science fair projects that never work. I’m from building impenetrable forts in the living room. I’m from the smell of magnolia, and bougainvillea on a cool summer night in Alabama. I’m from dressing up nice for church, and changing into my play clothes as fast as I could after I got home. I’m from being happy to help out around the house, but if I was asked to do anything, you’d bet there’d be a fuss. I’m from testing out a new RC toy as fast as possible. I’m from reading the comics every Sunday morning. I’m from getting up early to go golfing. I’m from the calm, serene feeling of sitting and reading a book, with a cup of coffee, in sweatpants and a long sleeved shirt, in a dim-lit house, on a cool winter night. I’m from getting sick far too often. I’m from a nice pot of home made chicken soup. I’d get sick on purpose just to have some. I’m from staying up late doing homework. I’m from golfing 8 hours a day. I’m from going on the computer until my eyes hurt. From a nice steak for breakfast. I’m from the nightly ritual of Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. I’m from Naples, Florida. more

Resolved Question: Ten items for this novel?

I'm doing a project on the novel A Salty Peice of Land by Jimmy Buffett, and I need ten items for a project that describe the novel, it's kinda hard :/ Here's a summary of the novel. A Salty Piece of Land brings back the character of Tully Mars from Jimmy Buffett's previous novel, Tales from Margaritaville. Tully is a Wyoming cowboy on the lam. The ranch where he lives and works has been converted to a poodle ranch run by a universally hated woman by the name of Thelma Barston. After Tully throws a massage table through her plate glass window, she uses her political connections to trump up charges and have a warrant issued for his arrest. Tully takes his faithful steed, Mr. Twain, and decides he wants to see the ocean. With bounty hunters on his trail, this begins a series of adventures for him that will take him to the Alabama coast, Key West, Mexico, Belize, Cuba, and the Bahamas. Tully is a kind soul, hard worker, and a quick learner. He befriends a shrimp boat captain named Captain Kirk who teaches him his first lessons about the ways of the sea and transports him and Mr. Twain to a remote part of the Yucatan peninsula called Punta Margarita. He also meets and begins a budding friendship with a musician/treasure hunter/pilot named Willie Singer. Tully lands a job as a fly-fishing guide at the Lost Boys fishing camp in Punta Margarita. It's run by a man named Bucky Norman who leases the land from the manager of a country western singer named Tex Sex. The other fly-fishing guide is a Mayan shaman, Ix-Nay. In the remote outpost of Punta Margarita, Tully feels like he can leave his past behind and try to figure out where his new life will lead him. On a trip to the Mayan ruins at Tulum, he's stranded when he totals a Jeep. While waking a from a ganja-induced dream on the beach there, he sees a beautiful schooner coming into the bay. Its captain is 101-year old Cleopatra Highbourne, and she's on a mission to find a fresnel lens for a lighthouse she wants to refurbish on the Bahamian island of Cayo Loco, the salty piece of land of the book's title. It's an endeavor that will eventually involve Tully and his friends, but first he must make a trip to Belize to find a Land Rover to replace the Jeep. A man on the run from the law with a fake passport and bounty hunters in pursuit must be careful. Which is how Tully ended up in the middle of a wild spring break party with a couple hot college girls. That's a quick outline to the plot, although the plot is not that important. It serves as the vehicle to further the adventures of Tully and his new-found friends. Some of the chapters in this novel are letters from Willie Singer as he searches for a fresnel lens while island hopping his way across the south Pacific in a seaplane. Each adventure is just plain fun as Tully finds out what's important to his life, and that answer is invariably a sense of ethics, a lot of fun, and good friends you can count on anytime. It helps that a lot of these friends are very wealthy and can come to the rescue at the drop of a hat. Tully continues to find like-minded people, often making instant connections as if they share the same karma. Karma and mysticism play a recurring role in A Salty Piece of Land, from his father's friend and Indian medicine man, Johnny Red Dust, to Ix-Nay the Mayan shaman, to an odd religion on a forgotten South Sea island. A Salty Piece of Land is a fun ride through Jimmy Buffett's idea of paradise, and you get the sense it's a place he's visited often. Many of his own loves, flying, sailing, and fishing, are featured prominently in the novel. It's a world where drink, ganja, and fun are pleasant additions if not done to excess. It's also a place where the dark forces of greed, corpocracy, and pollution threaten paradise. A disdain for tourists and resorts and an affection for indigenous people who've learned to live off the land runs strong through the novel. Even Cuban baseball, played for pride instead of greedy contracts, plays a role. This is not a literary novel and A Salty Piece of Land has no pretensions that it is. There will undoubtedly be those readers put off by its lack of any real drama or suspense. At times it's predictable, but it's a comforting predictability at that. You know the good guys will win, the friends will be there in the time of need, and all surprises will eventually be pleasant ones. That doesn't distract from the enjoyment of the novel, but adds to it instead. Jimmy Buffett's prose easily transports the reader to the different settings in his paradise. I don't fish, I've never sailed a schooner across the Caribbean, or flown a plane. By the end of this novel, I wanted to do all three. Therein lies the charm of this book: its easy access to warmth and beauty of many types teehee...anyways, i already have a Jimmy Buffett shirt because he wrote the novel and a poodle because Tully gets transferred to a poodle ranch, I'd LOVE some help! Thanks:) ~Miss more

Resolved Question: Should I keep working on it, or just throw it in the trash?

I've been working on a story, about a very hard life for a teenager. The last bit where she goes back to see her friend, im thinking of changing that so she doesn't go back. But, I dunno you guys choose. Heree it iss! Find My Heart. The deep red leaves flew around my feet from the maple tree nearby. A cold hand touched my shoulder and sent a shiver down my spine. “It’s time.” A ice cold voice whispered from behind me. I turned around, clutching the red roses that were placed in my hands. My black dress swirled with the cold wind that was all around me. The doors of the church where draped with black and deep red cloths. There was a thick red carpet leading up to the shiny silver doors. My fingers gripped onto the cold door handle, it opened with a loud creek. Everyone turned to me when the door opened with a loud click. I looked down walked onwards to my brother’s side. I looked up at his red, puffy face many tears were sliding down his cheeks. I collapsed into his arms and starting sobbing, he buried his face in my deep brown hair. I stared up at his face and my bottom lip trembled. I hadn’t seen him in 3 years, since he moved to Alabama. It seemed like he didn’t even know me and dad existed. But he says that he does, he just is always ‘busy’. He ran his hand through my hair, and then looked up instantly as the door made a loud screeching sound. A girl walked in she wore a heavy black skirt with lace at the bottom, Red fingerless gloves with small patterns on them and a tight, black boobtube. She had bits of red through her jet black hair and had very heavy make-up on. Walking with her head held high and her thick black boots clicked to the rhythm of her fast beating heartbeat she shifted towards my brother. He let go of my hair and kissed the stranger on the cheek. “Hey Marissa” He whispered loud enough for me to hear. I nodded my head, this must be his new girlfriend. Marissa leaned down to give me a hug and whispered in my ear: “It’s ok honey”. I really didn’t feel like talking to anyone and defiantly not meeting new people, so I just walked onwards to the pew that my dad was sitting at. “Please be seated, the ceremony will take place soon” Said the priest across the microphone, he seemed very hesitant. I shifted and moved around uncomfortably as my father put his arm around my neck I felt more comfortable, like I was at home. The priest started talking in a very deep and sincere voice; he sipped the water by his side. “We have all gathered here today to say goodbye to a very special person, known as a sister, mother and wife” He began. “Katherine Harmond was loved by many around her, and we are all devastated to see her leave.” His head was down looking at the piece of paper he was reading from, as he read many bible readings in the background I wondered what would happen to me now. Many thought raced through my head, my neck immediately shot up when he asked if any of the family members would like to say any words. I pursed my lips, held my head high and walked up the front. The priest moved to the side to make way for me. I stood in the pillar and took out the crumpled piece of paper from my purse. I read the words: “Katherine was my mother, A wonderful mother who will be miss-“ I stopped to wipe away the many tears that were wetting my rosy cheeks. I sniffled, looked up and continue reading from my sheet of paper. “-Who will be missed by the ones around her, thinking back she taught me most of the things in life. After losing my father, it was extremely hard living by ourselves an- I’m sorry” I ran out of the dimly lit church and slipped off my black heels that where pressing hard on my small feet at the beach in front of the church. I sat there for a while, hoping I would miss all of the ceremony. The waves splashed back on forth only just touching my feet. My toes became all sweaty and sand covered them, soon enough the sand dried and became crumbly. Some deep red roses where thrown by my side. I picked them up and looked behind me, there was no one there. I became a little scared, but despite that I stayed were I was. I liked this place, it was peaceful. I looked to my right and saw there was a cemetery right next to the beach, I thought to myself: ‘I’ll come visit you mum, I will’. “CLAIRE! CLAIRE!” A loud booming voice screamed. I flinched and turned around straight away. It was dad and my brother. They saw me looking at them and ran over to my side. “Oh my gosh Claire! We got so worried! You ran off, eughh where have you been all this time?!” The boomed screaming over the top of each other. “Right here.” I always knew I was invisible. The only person who noticed me was Kate, I never got that. “Bu- Buhh-!” They stuttered. “Sweetie, I know this is a very hard day for you but please, can you come home with us? The ceremony has finished and we don’t want you here after dark” Dad whispered in my small elf shaped ears. “Please dad, can I stay here, I’ll catch a taxi home I swear and I won’tOk so, i cnt add to much but Claire forgets the time and Accidently leaves claire behind. Then runs back to get her iat like 3 in the morning, SHOULD I CHNAGE THAT BIT?!!Sorry guys, didnt add it all! home I swear and I won’t be home after 10” I pleaded in a whiny voice. “Sweet heart… I don’t want anything to happen to you” He said. I knew he would become like this, very overprotective. “Dad, it’s fine I know how to look after myself, I’m 14” I said while looking at the tiny morsels of sand on my slender legs. “I know you- Ohh, fine but no later than 10” He said finally giving in. Kate flicked the cold sand with her feet. She shoveled a roasted marshmallow in my mouth; it was burnt on the outsides but extremely gooey on the inside. “Kate.” I asked “Yeah Claire?” She replied “Do you ever feel.. Unnoticed?” I asked her looking down embarrassingly, she wrapped her arm around my curled up body. “How do you mean?” she asked looking into my cold eyes. “Like, well I don’t know, I guess kind of like… well that people don’t ever actually see nor hear you” I said while licking my sticky lips “Well, yeah I suppose” he replied while wiping the sticky goo ofPecos Bill: You actually made tears come out of my eyes! Thank you, so much for your support, i really need it right now. I'm really happy im pretty good at doing what want to do! Thank you so unbelievely much. more

Resolved Question: What is the best place for me to live?

My fiancee and I are considering different options for where we might want to start our lives together once we are married. I own a company in Indiana and she is a teacher in Kentucky... we both have easily relocatable jobs and would like to live someplace warmer. We are trying to decide on a place in the south because we love the hospitality and food. We are considering Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, or maybe even Florida. We need a place that has a solid professional workforce, incredible views, and no snow! We are young and also would like to live someplace with an active and dynamic vibe. Price of living is also important and a place that leans politically right would be better. I also love the beach and water sports. Any ideas/suggestions? more

Resolved Question: Who remembers the alabama chruch burnings?

I live in the deep south. I like it here in Fort Walton Beach Florida. Been here 11 years and for the most part its OK until you have to interact with some of the locals and I do. I am from the north, Maryland and have been labeled a yankee by my boss who would throw it in my face on a regular basis. At first it was funny then I realized with time he was dead nuts serious and I started to get treated differently on the job from him and his cronies. He was a new boss and went to Auburn. They still fly a REBEL FLAG in the middle of town here, no really. So if you do a little searching you will find that in 2006 a group of Auburn students burned 9 BLACK churches to the ground. If you look more there was more in 2009. Now I just could not resist telling my deep south redneck, white cracker, boss about it. I then told him he should get the name of the school changed to ALL BURN. Its not funny but it sure felt good to give it back to him. His house was destroyed during Hurricane IVAN and he is also a southern baptist something and others of us are catholic so that did not help me in the position. We did say we must be living right because our houses got nothing but his was destroyed. The point,,if this place would get out of the civil war people like me that come down here would like it even more then we already do. AMERICA,,NEVER, EVER elect a southerner to the highest office in the land or I assure you the war will be back on. They should remove all the southern representatives from congress and the senate as well. This all has to be generated in the homes ( parents) of the kids who do stuff like this or they would have a different view. I love this place. Cheers more
