Beaches In North Carolina Questions asked

Open Question: North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virginia?

Planning on moving, trying to escape the endless suburbs of South Florida... So I'm looking for a small scenic city with friendly people. Close to parks, zoos, theater, cultural center... Good place to raise children and reasonable cost of living. I like the look of Greenville, SC but I'm trying to find more options. I want a slower paced lifestyle where I don't have to drive through 45min of traffic to get to work. I don't want to live in the sticks either... Thanks for any suggestions!!! Mountains or beaches are okay with me, snow is tolerable too :) more

Open Question: Do we have an Islamic terrorism issue in America?

I don't mean that in a sarcastic way but what do you think? And I am asking all. The reason I ask and I am sure others wonder it seems to be. Just a FEW of the things I listed below. You can look them up. Are we afraid between us to even talk about it? There are an illegitimate terrorist associated organization which should be disbanded. But no one does. This can't be a good thing. Would we allow such a thing if it were against other races here or religions? On November 2009- 13 American Soldiers were killed and another 30 wounded at a horrific mass shooting at US Army installation, Ft Hood Texas. Ft Hood became a part of the battlefield in the war against Islamic totalitarianism and state sponsored terrorism. There have been those Islamic people who threatened us openly and still do and nothing was or is done. Has Our Country has become so paralyzed by political correctness that we have allowed a vile and determined enemy to openly say and do some of these things? This was not a “man caused disaster”. It is what it is, an Islamic jihadist attack. We have seen this before in history which ZI will show some but it seems to be getting worst now wvwn - remember when a SGT Hasan of the 101st Arborne Division (Air Assault) threw hand grenades and opened fire into his Commanding Officer’s tent in Kuwait. We have seen the foiled attempt of Albanian Muslims who sought to attack Ft Dix, NJ. We saw a young convert to Islam named Carlos Bledsoe travel to Yemen, receive terrorist training, and return to gun down two US Soldiers at a Little Rock, Arkansas Army recruiting station. We thwarted another Islamic terrorist plot in North Carolina which had US Marine Corps Base, Quantico as a target. What have we done with all these prevalent trends? Nothing. Is it some don't think we have an Islamic problem? Is that why? Is it we are to nice and don't want to hurt some people because of their roots? Is it because some feel this is justifed? We know that Major Hasan deliberately planned this episode; he did give away his possessions. He stood atop a table in the confined space of the Soldier Readiness Center shouting “Allahu Akhbar”, same chant as the 9-11 terrorists and those we fight against overseas in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of operation. (We do remember 9/11?) No one in leadership seems willing to sound the alarm for the American people; they are therefore complicit in any future attacks. Our Congress should suspend the insidious action to push vote on a preposterous and unconstitutional healthcare bill (which could be much better--and I am for national health care) and resolve the issue of “protecting the American people” don't you think? Or don't you see this as a problem?. More such incidents like in Dearborn Michigan, Boston Massachusetts, Dallas Texas, and Chicago Illinois should bear witness to the fact that we have an Islamic terrorism issue in America. But no one says those words. We have Saudi Arabia funding close to 80% of the mosques in the United States, one here in South Florida, Pompano Beach. Are we building churches and synagogues in Saudi Arabia? Are “Kaffirs” and “Infidels” allowed travel to Mecca? So much for peaceful coexistence between both sides. How do you feel about this one way street? Saudi Arabia is sponsoring radical Imams who enter into our prisons and convert young men into a virulent Wahabbist ideology….one resulting in four individuals wanting to destroy synagogues in New York with plastic explosives. Thank God the explosives were dummy. They are sponsoring textbooks which present Islamic centric revisionist history in our schools. Do you think we should recognize that there is an urgent need to separate the theo-political radical Islamic ideology out of our American society. Should We begin to demand surveillance of suspected Imams and mosques that are spreading hate and preaching the overthrow of our Constitutional Republic……that speech is not protected under First Amendment, it is sedition and if done by an American treason. Do you think there should not be some 30 Islamic terrorist training camps in America that has nothing to do with First Amendment, Freedom of Religion. The Saudis are not teaching we should be friends and any American political figure who believes such is delusional. When tolerance becomes a one way street it certainly leads to cultural suicide. We are on that street. I see many Liberals cannot be trusted to defend our Republic, because their sympathies obviously lie with their perceived victim, Major Nidal Malik Hasan. And thats not right. I make no apologies for these words, or anyone angered by them, I don't mind talking to even those from those countries. I would like to hear how you feel , maybe you have gone to Ft Hood and look into the eyes of the real victims. The tragedy at Ft Hood Texas did not have to happen. It didn't. Nor other places it did. Consider now the feelings of tWell Blumenn, it's not my version, those are facts already put out and confirmed. What do you see as untrue? You mean you don't see a question, it is there for those who can read. You didn't have to read the history here--do you never read any history on answers?--odd indeed. Your opinion is welcome but why the anger? Is it hard for you to answer a question which you may have another view and say why..... like a reasonable person would? more

Voting Question: southern east coast road trip ideas!?

Ok here is the situation...I am planning a road trip with two friends and my girlfriend. We are all seniors in high school and figure It would be fun to take a road trip before we all branch off in life. We have one 18 year old so we can get hotels and other stuff that most youngans can't get. We are going this february vacation from school from about feb. 20 to march 3 for as many days as we can go. We travelling from up north in the new england state of vermont and we are looking to travel down south somewhere like south or north carolina or virginia, maybe even florida however we were thinking it may be too far of a drive. I am not looking to go on a tour or visit monuments and state parks to see the scenery. We are looking to do more things like beaches and amusement parks or attractions like that. Entertaining, exciting things for a teenager to experience. In other words we want to party and have fun the whole road trip. We are also looking to get a nice tan and go somewhere warm for a change. so, please give me some good ideas for my teenage road trip. Also we were interested in going to the coast to beaches like virginia beach or myrtle beach, but Im not sure if you can swim in the ocean in February down there...any thoughts im stuck??? more

Resolved Question: How do we have a conversation about marriage?

My fella and I have been together for quite some time and were friends for longer before that. We've been discussing getting married after we finish college, low and behold we both finish in two years. After we finish, we are moving from North Carolina back to my hometown in Virginia so we both can go to school and get our Ph.D.'s. When we move to Virginia, we intend to go ahead and buy a house instead of renting, I honestly hate renting as I can't even have a raised garden in the yard! My nosy neighbors complained about the tubs being unsightly. They've also complained about my dog when their dog has been the culprit in destroying my yard. Needless to say, I'm exhausted of it. Anyway, back to the point. I would like for us to go ahead and get married before or shortly after moving to Virginia. My fella is terrified of the wedding itself and knows that I want at least a small, beach wedding. This is why we have yet to get married. When I say small wedding, I mean if we only invite 20 people, I'm quite fine with that! I want to be able to bring the topic up but don't know exactly how to begin the conversation. Every time we touch on the topic of marriage, it turns into the topic of the wedding... I want to actually talk to him about the marriage and what it will bring to us while we are getting our Ph.D.'s. I would just like to have a conversation about it without it being unproductive. Something that will move us forward, even if we decide to wait until after grad school. So, how do I approach him with this subject? more

Resolved Question: Epiphanies... just had one.. care to comment or share stories?

This is a long story so just warning you... lol For as long as I can remember I have never truly been happy. My father ran out on my mother when I was two and I grew up without him for the first 6 years of my life. I was born with a cleph pallet and cleph lip and thank god I had a good surgeon so it is hardly noticeable, but I got a lot of grief for it when I was younger. I was enrolled in a private preschool and was treated pretty badly. The principals stepson had a cleph pallet as well along with some mental issues and she took a lot of her frustrations she had with him out on me... like locking me in closets for hours on end. So that was pretty much preschool for me. Eventually I bit my teacher and called her an asshole and got expelled at the age of four. I went on to elementary school and had disciplinary problems for a few years but due to some good teachers i got my act together up until high school. My parents enrolled me in a private catholic high school and did really well. I played four sports a year, was on the speach and debate team, and was class VP. Shit started rolling down hill my junior year. I had a lot of self-esteem issues as you can imagine and got involved in drugs. I loved it. The attention I wasn't getting at home, I was now getting. I wa smister popular and started selling drugs. Well I was trying to purchase a pound of weed using some money I borrowed from some shady people. I got robbed at gun point and now couldn't deliver my promises. Soon enough I was getting death threats, and I didn't know what to do. My girlfriend at the time had an older brother who I looked up to and he suggested I help him rob a house.... and like a dumbass I did. I ended up getting caught a week later and was arrested 1 semester from graduating high school. I had everything going for me. Full ride swimming scholarship... It was all gone in an instant. In efforts to keep me out of jail, my parents sent me off to a wilderness program in the Adirondacks of New York for three months. It sucked to say the least, but it gave me some time to do some soul searching. We lived in the snow for three months... I got frostbite and pleuracy. Well three months was done and I figured ok cool I can go home now... nope. My parents then sent me to a transitional living program in New Mexico which was supposed to be for a year. A lot of stuff happened here but its not worth going in to. I took a correspondence course here and was able to graduate through my old high school. After all that, I did end up having to fly home and serve time. After serving my time, I moved to North Carolina and did the whole community college thing and got my Associates in Science. I worked as a line chef in a five star restaurant and put myself through college, lived on my own... paid the bills... dated this awesome Croatian woman. I was terribly depressed though. I had this huge whole in me. I felt like I had no chance left in life. All my life I had wanted to help people and do something positive in the world and I had screwed it all up. I was actually suicidal for awhile, but decided againt it because it is a cowards way to go. I couldn't cause my family any more pain than I already had. I needed to redeem myself. So I decided to join the military. My parents were against it and offered to pay the rest of my tuition through college. I couldn't accept it. I felt I needed to live my own life without accepting handouts. It was the nest choice I have made. I have been in the Navy three years now and a lot of jacked up stuff has happened. My best friend was killed in Afghanistan about five months ago. My fiancee was raped by an illegal immigrant... we broke up... she married my old boss. I have been deployed twice and seen a lot of people die, but saved a lot more. I am a corpsman. A medic that serves with the marines. There always seems to be a reason to be depressed. This relationship should have ended up better than it did. My best friend should still be alive. My ex shouldn't have been raped. Work sucks.. blah blah blah. I sleep maybe three hours a night mainly because of my PTSD. I have flashbacks of my marines dying, grown men crying and then having to come home and hold the spouses of the deceased in my arms while they ask me why I couldn't save their husbands... I spend so much time dwelling on the past and could never shake it. Well, I am stationed in Okinawa now and have a Japanes girlfriend. We were sitting on the beach earlier tonight and she asked me what haunts me, and I poured out my soul to her. I talked of my mission to redeem myself and of everything I have mentioned above. She grew silent for awhile, took my face in her hands and looked into my eyes, and told me I had a good soul. She told me to never forget the past but accept it as part of who I am and not to regret my past but embrace it for making me who I am today. For the first time, I am happy and feel like anything is possible... more

Resolved Question: How is it possible to get exercise if you can't get to the gym?

I'm stranded indefinitely without a car. The piece of crap broke down on me, and it's still in the shop, but that's another story. I'm really upset because I have no way to get to the gym, and I'm worried that I'm going to gain weight. I'm stressing because I don't know how I'm going to get my exercise now! I worry about jeopardizing my health, because lack of exercise can increase your risk for some very serious illnesses. I just got back from a month in Spain, where I was studying... over there, the city is set up so that you can go ANYWHERE on foot, there are sidewalks everywhere, you just have to be careful when crossing the street (every country on earth has psycho drivers)... but I could get up and run, the sea was within my reach and I could take a walk on the beach whenever I felt like it. I lost loads of weight, and everyone has noticed. Exercise wasn't even a chore over there, getting up and running along the beach is my idea of Heaven. It was so nice when I was in Spain. Now, I'm back in shitty North Carolina, and I just can't readjust. Just to get to civilization you have to get in a car and drive through 15 miles of... nothing. I'm stranded, in my house and no way to get to the gym. I'm so afraid that I'm going to start putting on the pounds... it's depressing enough that I'm back in America all over again. I don't want to become a fat pig all over again on top of everything else. Plus I'm going stir-crazy from being stuck in the house... I'm going to go bananas if I can't release this energy... being stuck in one place with NO activity gives me anxiety attacks... Please, please, please, I really need some ideas for how to get exercise! I'll love you forever if you can help... thanks!! more

Resolved Question: North Carolina, Help!?

Okay so I'm only 14, but, I'm reading the book "The Lost Song" by Nicholas Sparks (which is also coming out with the movie). So, as you may know the story takes place in Wrightsville, North Carolina and ever since i started reading the book, I'm obsessed with North Carolina! & i would love to go there this summer. My question is, i would rather be somewhere on the beach/coastline of North Carolina that wasn't so crowded, somewhere more relaxing i guess I'm trying to say? So if you know anywhere that would be like this, then please answer! Please do not tell me any great hotels or anything like that, im just looking for areas, thank you! :)the first person that answered, you make no sense. i dont live in north carolina? i just want to go there for the summer and looking for great ideas of what area to be in thats not so crowded. Voting Question: Dropping out of school?

I've been thinking hard about dropping out of school. It's emotionally draining. I don't even know if I'm in a high enough grade to drop out anyways and I'm only fifteen. Are 15 year old's old enough to drop out in North Carolina? I know dropping out of school isn't the best decision, and there's tones of things that could happen to you. I do want to continue school, but it's draining me out. I'm failing math & science... and I'm afraid that I'm going to fail the 8th grade(supposed to be in 9th, went to school late) are we even allowed to drop out of school when your in the 8th grade? If I fail this year, I'm going to drop out and try to get a job. Both of my sisters both dropped out, and they are living fine. My sister who is nineteen works in an office at a beach store called coastal edge and my other sister lives in Germany who's husband is in the airforce. Don't tell me I'm stupid, I aready know that. more

Resolved Question: How do you deal with leaving a country that you´re in love with?

I´ve been in Barcelona for nearly two months... the first of which I spent studying 24-7. I finally graduated and then I explored the whole town... the Gothic neighborhoods, cathedrals, beaches, parks, and I have nearly 500 photographs. Ever since I was small I longed to go to Spain and being here is a dream come true for me. I was planning on going to Andalucia, and it didn´t work out for me to go there, but I have fallen in love with Barcelona... and I´m head over heels in love with Spain. My heart is here. I´m not putting down the USA, but to be honest, I love Spain more and I feel like I was meant to have been Spanish. The problem is, I have to leave in two days. Of course I´m grateful that I got to go, but in spite of this my heart is breaking because I´m so in love with this country and I have no idea when or if I´ll ever get back. It took me 30 years to get here for the first time. Leaving half my heart on the other side of the ocean, indefinitely, makes me sad. I wanna stay here for good. My permanent home is in North Carolina. Everyone expects me to be in love with North Carolina but I don´t belong there AT ALL. I think of North Carolina as a place to escape, but that´s about it. I realize this sounds self-centered, but I can´t help the desires of my heart. I want to make the most of the last couple days here but I´m feeling sad. I realize there are worse problems in the world, and I´m actually a caring person... who just wants to belong. I just earned my Tefl certificate and plan on teaching English abroad. Of course I´m gonna try to get a job in Spain here but it´s not easy, since I´m from the USA. I love my parents and miss them and part of me feels guilty for wanting to be in Spain when it´s so far away, but going back to USA is like walking to my execution. They have it all planned out for me... they want me to teach ESL in the USA, they say it´s time for me to marry and have babies and they have the guy all picked out (I´m not exactly head over heels in love with him). I don´t think of North Carolina as home. The only bad thing about Spain is that it doesn´t feel exotic. it´s exciting and magical, but doesn´t feel ´foreign.` Ever since I got here, I felt a sense of familiarity, like I´ve lived here before a long time ago. If I didn´t know better, I´d say that I lived here in another life. Sounds a little funny, I know. Has anyone else felt anything similar? more

Resolved Question: A story that I am writing i need feedback. Would you read it? What should i add? (it is a long story)?

We stand on the beach holding hands while the sand caresses our feet. The sunset is so beautiful that it makes me want to cry. This whole moment makes me want to cry. I never knew that I could love someone so much. “Hey want to count down the sunset?” Jayme asks I shrug my shoulder not wanting to say anything to ruin the moment. “OK then. 10, 9, 8, 7...” He squeezes my hand with every number. I wish this moment would last forever. He has to start over about 5 times. I laugh. When the sun finally goes down I say “I want ice cream.” He smiles at me warmly and says “Ok then, I’ll buy” I shake my head and take out my own money. “OK then you buy.” We walk hand in hand to the pier. The line moves slowly while the guy behind the counter takes as long as possible. I can feel him looking at me. Like there is anything to look at. When it is our turn Jayme orders chocolate ice cream with chocolate sprinkles. “Umm, a small caramel sundae please.” I say. We walk over to a nearby bench and take a seat. I sit there and watch my ice cream melt. Lost in thought. I can’t believe that Jayme chose me over all the girls that want him. I look at him from the corner of my eye. I admire his cinnamon colored skin and his cold blue eyes while he eats his ice cream. “Are you going to eat that” he asks eyeing my ice cream “Or are you going to wait until it turns into a milkshake?” “You’re fat.” I say handing him the melting ice cream. “I know” he says snatching it from me eagerly. When he finishes eating my sundae we walk to the edge of the pier. When we reach the edge we stare up at the stars. After a long silence he asks “So what color dress are you wearing to Prom. You know its only a week away.” “Probably one of my normal colors, blue, black something like that.” I say “Well I think you should go for a new color this year like maybe orange or something.” “Not to sound corny but I will wear anything as long as I am going with you.” He bursts into laughter. Obviously he thought I was kidding but I was dead serious. I stare daggers at him until he is finished laughing at me. When he notices my death stare he smiles his model smile. I instantly smile back at him. Who could resist his beautiful face? He laughs and leans over me and kisses my lips tenderly. His warm full lips making the butterflies in my stomach do a crazy dance. When he finally pulled away my breathing was heavy and despite the cold little beads of sweat was on my forehead. “We have been together for almost a year and a half and you still act like that after I kiss you?” He laughs “Sorry you’re an amazing kisser” I say embarrassed my words. “I know I am” he says. I slap him in the back stand up and run as fast as I can to his car. As usual he catches me and throws me over his shoulder like a backpack. “You want to go home?” He asks when we are safely inside his green jeep ” Let’s drive around for a bit” I say. He nods and turns on the radio and starts to sing. We drive around the city for an hour looking at the expensive restaurants and novelty shops that surround us in Wilmington, North Carolina. We watch the drunken tourists stumble across the street to their hotels and the couples watch the boats in the water. Before I know it we are at my house and he is shaking me awake. “Time to wake up” he whisper in my ear. “What time is it?” I yawn “Just a little after 1:30” “Wow it’s pretty late” “Yup” he says rubbing one of his eyes “Well see you later” I say leaning over to give me a kiss but before I could reach his lips he catches my head. “I think we need to talk about something” he whispers “What I say” angrily, a little hut by the rejection. “College” I lean back in my seat and stare angrily out the window. “What about it” “Mia, were seniors, we graduate in 3 months, I would think that was a very important issue.” “Yeah, 3 months that means we have nine months to wait. I don’t want to talk about this right now” I huff “Well I want to talk about it right now. I am worried OK.” His voice cracks at the end. I turn my head to look at him. His reflection in the glass looks anxious. “Ok fine” I say quickly “Lets talk about it” He rubs both of his eyes and looks seriously into my face. “Mia I got accepted to California University and I know that you got accepted at Pennsylvania University. I don’t want to leave you but this school looks promising and I think it’s the only college I will get accepted to. You have been talking about going to Penn State since we were freshmen so you have to go to that school. I was just wondering if you wanted to keep a relationship going even though we are so far away from each other.” It takes me a while to take in what he is saying. “Well” I start slowly” I have 2 things to say about this. 1: You should go to any college that you want. 2: why wouldn’t I want a long distance relationship? I love you.” “Ok good” he sighs with relief “I have one more thing to tell you. California is full of hot gir more

Resolved Question: What cities in North Carolina would you recommend for me to move to?

I've lived in Fayetteville for 18 years (I'm 23 now) and my bf and I plan on moving to another city in North Carolina before our 1 year old daughter starts kindergarten. We've both grown tired and fed up with Fayetteville, not necessarily because of the city itself, but mostly because it's gotten too populated for our liking (over 200,000 people) and we've just grown bored with it and want to move on to a new place. We do like that Fayetteville is historic, we like downtown, and it is beginning to develop more things like festival park, more shopping, places to eat, etc. but it won't be enough to keep us living here the rest of our lives. It would be nice to find a city that is similar to Fayetteville but not so populated and maybe has less crappy spots. We like parks, fun city events, lots of things to do and places to eat. We don't really need to live in a place that is business-centered. We still want to live close enough to Fayetteville so that we can visit a few times a month to see our friends and family and to attend the festivals Fayetteville has (Dogwood Festival, Folk Festival). I'm not too big on cold, so I probably wouldn't like to live in or too close to the mountains. I love the beach but we don't necessarily need to live at one. A place that is not too populated, but not too empty... a good mix between urban and rural (suburban?) ... has lots to offer day and night, all year round ... has a good community with nice people ... is the kind of city we'd like to live in in NC. So ... if you have a good idea of what would be the best options for us, please let me know! * So far, I've been interested in Carrboro/Chapel Hill. I like the kind of town Carrboro is and what it seems to offer (especially the Farmer's Market), and that it's so close to Chapel Hill that we could commute there too and take advantage of what it has to offer too. What advice do you have on these cities? Thank you. more

Resolved Question: What are the white blobs I see on the beach in North Carolina?

I was visiting the outer banks near Kitty Hawk last week and I saw a lot of interesting stuff along the coast, like crab shells and skate eggs. But one thing I couldn't identify were these roundish white blobs that were about the size of small apples or very large eggs. Some had purple-ish or greyish spots, and some were starting to turn grey with black spots, but the majority were just plain milky white color. If I touched one with my toe they seemed squishy like a very firm water balloon. The gulls were leaving them alone so I figured they must be some kind of waste product, like whale poop or something? I wish I had a picture... more

Voting Question: Girl problems. need some help?

basically, i need a girlfriend. but im the quiet and reserved type of guy. i only get to know girls that i spend one on one time with so for example at a party last weekend i was only talking to one of the girls there cause i had gotten to know her and then of course my friends that were there. I just can seem to start a conversation in a big group of people and also, when everyone else is having a conversation like between lets say 5-7 people, i just draw a blank on things to say or add probably because i dont know a lot of the people. anyway, ive been single most of my life and im incredibly tired of it. for some reason girls just dont want to talk to me. maybe i creep them out, idk. but i do fine when im in a group of 2 or 3. my best friend here (im a college freshman) said im the most easy to talk to and least awkward kid that hes ever met but again, in big groups im like the exact opposite. And the problem is that i dont meet that many girls one on one. they all go to parties with all their friends around and everyone so i never meet anyone. My friend can start a conversation with someone in the elevator that hes never even met before and yet when i try to do it and say something the girl usually gets quiet and then its awkward until she gets off on her floor. Any advice?? Maybe im not attractive enough idk. i just need some advice. like for the girls out there would yall be interested in me if you new me? like i said im pretty quiet and reserved and modest. a lot ofmy friends dont know half the stuff i do or am interested in. im a country kid going to school in north carolina. i love country music obviously. ive got a jeep wrangler that i lifted and go mudding with. i love to fish and be out on the water or on the beach. i also love camping, skiing, kayaking, rafting, and hiking so im an outdoorsman i guess. i work out 6 days a week usually. im a very simple guy. i have like 4 pairs of jeans i just rotate and maybe 10 t shirts. i where the same camo Coors hat all the time. i just dont need a lot of clothes or anything like my other guy friends. i could literally through everything from my dorm in my duffle bag and be gone in 15 minutes. i dont drink hard alcohol and only casuallly drink beer. dont smoke or spit. so girls would anyone be even interested? of course yall cant see what i look like but based off my interests and stuff? (btw anyone thats read this knows more about me than 90% of anyone ive ever met)that what i dont understand. why chicks go for guys like yall that are complete dicks to everyone. seriously guys grow up a little more

Resolved Question: How does this part of my novel sound?

It's the 2nd chapter, so some things might not make sense. If you want to read the 1st: http://www.booksie.com/young_adult/novel/ctj/battlefield-of-love tell me what you think! :) --Back home (which is Blakely, North Carolina) the sun was probably shinning. The temperature was probably just right to go hang out on the beach, as it always was, and my best friend, Paige, was probably lying on the beach with her two younger brothers, Caleb and Ben. I would have been lying there on the warm, sunny beach with her if I hadn’t been dragged here. I braced myself as I opened the door to my dorm. No matter how much I didn’t want to be here, I didn’t want to be stuck here friendless even more. From here on out I would be nothing but fake smiles. “You must be Eleanor!” A girl said as soon as I opened the door and walked into my dorm room. She skipped towards me from across the room to help me with my bags. Her wavy blond hair hit just below her shoulders, and I could still see the tanned glow of her skin from summer. “Ellie” I corrected her. The room had dark wooden floors and plain white walls; there were four beds spread out across the room, and a dresser for each girl. Since every other bed was taken, I set my duffle bag down on the bed beside the window. “I’m Norah Finley. The other two girls are saying goodbye to their parents downstairs. They should be up here soon.” she said as she jumped up on her bed, which she had already made up with a pink duvet cover and white pillows with a pink embroidered N in the center. Looking at her outfit, a pink polo dress, I could tell she was a girly-girl. I smiled with fake enthusiasm and reached into my duffle bag; I pulled out zebra print duvet cover my mom had bought me and started making my bed. I figured I might as well start setting up my side of the room. Besides, I couldn’t think of a single thing to say to Norah. Norah was flipping through a Seventeen magazine and I was still making my bed when the door burst open. “We’re back!” a girl shoulder length auburn hair said as she ran and jumped on her bed. I laughed and watched as another girl with a dark brown bob with bangs ran into the room. “One day here, and I’m already chasing you through the school!” She laughed. They then noticed that I was there. “I’m Brynn Adams,” the auburn haired girl told me. “Myers, Abbie Myers” the other girl said then laughed at her own corny James Bond joke. “Eleanor Roberts, but from here on out, call me Ellie.” I looked over at Brynn’s side of the room and saw her simple navy blue quilt. She had already stuck a poster of Marie Sharapova. I was guessing she was into tennis. Abbie’s side of the room was already a complete mess. Her suitcases were open; her clothes were on her peace sign quilt and on the floor. In her attempts to clean up her mess, she threw all of her clothes in a pile and tossed it into her suitcase. I smiled to myself, realizing her messiness reminded me of Paige. “Okay, so did any of you see the guys here? Can you say FINE?” Norah dished to us. She fell back on her bed and laid the magazine on top of her blushing face. “They were too busy giving me the stink eye for me to notice,” Brynn said as she showed us the look she’d seen. “They did that with me, too!” At least I knew now it wasn’t because I was horrifically ugly or had something on my forehead. That was a relief. “Same reaction here,” Abbie started. “And I heard a few guys whispering as I walked by. They said we’re ‘intruding on their turf,’” she air-quoted and rolled her eyes......... more

Voting Question: Can someone translate this English paragraph for me into Spanish?

I was born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 30, 1992. I lived there for about 3 years with my family. When i was about 4, we moved here to Cary, North Carolina. I have two brothers. Matt is 22 and Tyler is 19. Every summer, when i was little, my family and i would go to Cape Hatteras for 2 weeks. It was like my second home. We would always go to the restaurant Mad Crabber and then drive to the beach for a bonfire and smores. I have many fun memories from there that I love to tell my friends. more

Resolved Question: I'm dying to see Jason Mraz or Jack Johnson in concert?

Alright so the last concert I went to was a Hilary Duff 1 when I was 10, so 5 years ago... I really love Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz and I'm dying to go to one of their concerts. The problem is, they both just wrapped up their tours. Over the summer is when I really became interested in them. Jason had a concert in Cary, North Carolina that I wanted to go to but I was only familiar with We Sing. We Dance. We Steal things. Now I am familiar with all of his CDs. I also have his new DVD. Jack Johnson- I am familiar with most of his CDs and I don't think that he had any tour dates near me. When do you think they will have another tour? Cities accessible are DC, VA Beach, Baltimore, basically anywhere 6 or less hours from VA Beach. Thanks! more
