My husband and I are wanting to go away for a much-needed time away. Here are our conditions and restrictions: Must be in end of July - beginning of August Safe place to go A place where we can relax on the warm beach without it being disgustingly humid A few excursions would be nice Under $3000 - all inclusive (A MUST) Flexible on hotel star rating but nothing less than 3 Forget that it is hurricane season, that doesn't bother me. Please help us. We wanted Jamaica but they agent said it would be too humid. We have spoken to an agent and they have told us that Hawaii is our only choice really and that is way out of our price range and they don't do all inclusive.I am not interested in crusing. We've done that before and neither of us liked it. We would like to stay in one place. moreOpen Question: Are carribean beaches like Antigua, safe for swimming?

I am so confused. For my birthday I had wanted to go out of the country for the first time. Origionally it was Cancun, but then I was worried that the beach hadnt been fully restored. Having invited my best friend, she was down to go almost anywhere. However, lately she has become a planning natzi, and has narrowed it down to the caymans. As fun as that sounds, I have wanted to go to Jamaica, and my boyfriend said he would prefer to go there as I would. I dont know how to tell her about where I want to go, and how to do so to not hurt her feelings. In addition to that, I fear that she wont want to go if i tell her about jamaica. Any suggestions? moreResolved Question: Going to Jamaica - Stay in Montego Bay or Negril?

As of right now we are looking for an all inclusive, caribbean location. We are definitely wanting something with a white sandy beach and crystal clear waters where we can just relax and enjoy each other. But I have NO IDEA where to get one. Any ideas? Thanks sooo much! :) moreOpen Question: How Do We Notify People That We're Not Having A Public Reception?
My FH and I had been planning a big wedding, with a guest list over 175 people for this coming May. We have had multiple financial hardships this year, and do not have the money to continue with the wedding that we were planning. We have searched from all possible angles, and can't find a solution that pleases us and our parents. Our latest plan was to have a small ceremony with a small reception for just our parents, siblings, grandparents and bridal party the night before we planned to be married, and then have a huge BBQ reception the next day. (More detail here : http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhQvZSvtPwSlfqIZGXUYfGjsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100108211424AAsqMyS ) My FMIL blew up when we approached her with the idea. She has suggested that we postponed the wedding, and has become a royal PITA to the wedding planning process. She felt that it was a slap in the face to my FH's extended family that they were't going to see us get married. My FH and I came up with a solution that we like, but we're a little bit stuck on how to continue from here. We have decided to continue with the idea of a small simple ceremony and small simple reception, with our parents, grandparents, siblings and bridal party (less than 30 people). Instead of a huge party the next day, we are leaving for our honeymoon in Jamaica, and have a "mock" wedding on the beach, so that we will have wedding pictures to show our family and friends. Our problem is that we sent our "Save The Dates" in August, because we have a number of family members that live out of town. We are contemplating renewing our vows and having a reception for all our family members to attend, but not for a year or two. How do we notify our 175 guests that recieved "Save The Dates" that we are no longer having a large ceremony or reception? moreVoting Question: Vacation Areas - spring break?
For spring break, i want to go somewhere hot. (ex: turks and caicos, jamaica, bahamas, belize, aruba, etc.) i want to be on the beach, and possibly have some of the areas nature around to photograph. any suggestions. (specific resorts would be helpful) THANKS! :) moreResolved Question: Which Caribbean island should we visit? Or should it be Costa Rica? Or?
My husband and I are looking to go to the Caribbean next month. Neither of us are much for just lounging in the sun and I will be about 3 month pregnant by then so partying is out as is diving, zip lines, and other such activities. We are laid back outdoorsy camping types, into photography and want both beach and rainforest. I am leaning toward St Lucia (and have looked into Guadalupe and Dominica but they don't seem as easy to get to). We don't want to go to a fancy, big money spending place or like a Spring Break or Hollywood vacation spot- just normal. I would like to avoid places I have been already (USVI, Bahamas, Jamaica) and Puerto Rico is probably too American. We are also looking into Costa Rica. We would like to keep it reasonably priced and aren't sure all inclusive is necessarily worth it for us (it seems it costs about $100 per person per day and I just cant see eating $100 worth per day- you almost have to drink your money's worth). Also we don't want to spend the whole trip at a resort- we want to get out and explore!Okay, I am being sold on PR a bit now... plus it's a lot cheaper to fly to and get good nonstop flights, or early arrivals...but would love to hear more from people... moreVoting Question: What is the beach like in Jamaica, at the Breezes runanway bay resort?
I am going there on vacation next month with a few friends. Looking for any views or opinions! I'm also wondering how far out the coral reef is from the shore, or if someone that is afraid to swim with fish will have a hard time getting in the water. From the pictures, the reef looks close to shore. Would i be able to do much swimming and not be near the fish? moreResolved Question: Where can two gay boys frolic in Jamaica? Like a beach or cruisy area?
Like me and Jimmy want to come to Jamaica. In fact we are coming in a few weeks. We are so in love and are a new couple just exploring each others bodies. We love to hold hands and cuddle and walk on the beach, go shopping and love to hold hands and sweetly kiss over a drink in a bar. Are there any nice places in Jamaica where we would fit in? I mean really gay/queer beaches and clubs? moreResolved Question: Would a jamaica resort care about underage drinking?
im going to a sandels beach resort in jamaica and im 16, though big for my age. While spending as little as we can, we have around $1000 but are saving more. Me and my mother(ages 28 and 58) are looking to go on a nice relaxing cruise. I don't want the party ships our main interests are the swimming pools and good spas, good food, and the best beaches and snorkeling at the best islands in the Caribbean. This will probably be in the fall Sept-Oct. We do want at least a week if not a few days more. I do not want to go to Mexico, Jamaica, or the Cayman Islands. We are mostly interested in the Easter or Southern Caribbean. Also we are looking into either Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity, Holland America, or Norwegian Cruise Line. What cruise line would be better and if you know of a good cruise that meets what we want let me know. moreResolved Question: Where should we go on vacation this time ?

Hello, I am looking to travel to one of the above places. I'm mostly interested in relaxation and no busy crowds. I will be traveling in the off season and want to make use of non crowded beaches. I do like a fun nightlife, but am more interested in escaping the daily hustle and bustle. A little good food, beach, sun, caves, horseback riding, spa, etc. Also, I will be traveling alone. I know a lot of resorts only cater to couples. I am looking for something all inclusive, but cheap. No tourist traps. Any suggestions? moreResolved Question: Destination wedding, Cocktails and appetizers reception at home.?
I'm getting married in Jamaica in September, the weekend we return home we have booked a banquet hall. We would like to have a hors d’ oeuvre, cake, drinks, and dancing for the folks that couldn't make it to the beach. The reception starts at 7:00 and then the apps will be brought out at 8:00. How could I word the invite so people will know what to expect. This will not be a meal. Thanks for your time and help. moreResolved Question: Where to have Caribbean Vacation?
I am trying to decide what resort to go on a all inclusive vacation? I have been to Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Punta Cana, DR both at RIU resorts. Where would be good to go nice, I have heard of many nice ones but think I may be addicting to RIU since I know there are good and have great entertainment throughout the day. I see the majority are in Mexico but am looking for a good beach vacation for $1200/person. moreVoting Question: How much would it cost to get married in Jamaica or Bermuda? Quiet Private Wedding.?
I am looking forward to marrying my long term girlfriend, however I am not so keen on a standard UK wedding with lots of guests I haven't seen for years and years. I would much prefer a really quiet wedding on a beach somewhere with just really close friends and relatives. How much do you think it would cost to do this? I am assuming all quests will pay for their own flights / accomodation / dresses.# So our costs will be our flights, honeymoon, reception area, hotel etc Thanks! moreResolved Question: Planning a trip to the Caribbeans?
I was thinking jamaica, leaning more towrds that, Is there any other suggestions for a trip to the caribbean? I'm going all-inclusive but I have never really traveled. I want a perfect beach and a perfect island...help me please??? moreResolved Question: HELP! I've got 2 free plane tickets and want to plan a vacation, tropical and inexpensive, where would you go?
THIS IS A BIT LONG< READ ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE TIME TO HELP ME DECIDE: THANKS! First of all I don't want to sound like I am complaining here, just confused on where to go. I realize I am very lucky to have the tickets! The plane tickets are for anywhere in the U.S. plus Cancun, Bahamas, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Aruba. Most of these places outside the U.S. would be too expensive though in terms of hotel and food for me right now for two people, so where else in the mainland U.S. could I visit that is somewhat near a nice beach, maybe some shells, and isn't too expensive for a hotel there and food? I only have about an extra 1,000 for a 3 day trip somewhere for the hotel and food and spending. All I want to do is spend some quality time with my husband and sit and watch the waves, drink a tropical drink at a tiki hut, swim in a huge pool and possibly take a boat out to a little island to find some shells. (Otherwise I also have free hotel rooms at any Harrah's hotel in the U.S. so I guess they have Harrah's in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, New Orleans, Phoenix, and other places more inland in the U.S. That would be very cheap then since I would then have free air and hotel, but none of those places is really that tropical!) I could also choose to fly to New Orleans or Miami and try a 4 day cruise. Upside of that: fairly cheap and could see Key West AND Mexico ! And lots of food all included in the price Downside: I've never been on a cruise , sometimes there are hidden costs to consider, tipping, extra excursion, etc. and I wouldn't get into the pool with tons of people, no privacy, and could seem like I'm stuck on a boat with a bunch of drunks since I heard the 4 days cruises are "party cruises". Again see I'm totally stuck on what to do and where to go with these tickets! Anyway if I don't do the Harrah's free hotel thing or the cruise then, I was thinking possibly Pensacola, Florida since it is supposed to be cheaper and they still offer the touristy things to do there, but not sure if that might be too boring. Do you have other ideas that could work? I wouldn't mind using the free tickets to California but then the hotel prices are just too high. And Virginia Beach is supposed to be nice but I'm not sure if it is expensive to visit and I know it won't be as tropical as Florida or Cancun of course since there will doubtfully be tiki huts and tropical drinks/ not sure though? Also lots and lots of people say go to Cancun but I worry about a few things: crime to and from the hotels, crime at the hotels, crime going to dinner in the cities and I'd hate to see children begging on the beach on my vacation or stray dogs starving to death running down the beaches. If you've gone there, is that what you've encountered ever? Some previous yahoo people said that was what it was like, not fun for a vacation then. Someone recommended a place calledCancun Palace (p.s. my research shows: Le Blanc in Cancun looks amazing if you have more money than me for the trip!), someone else said Myrtle Beach, others Key West? Has anyone been to Key West lately, do you have any quiet beaches or are they all packed with crazy tourists? If I can't come up with a trip that my husband would also like, then he said I should just use one of the tickets to fly to my niece's wedding in Minneapolis and wait for the other ticket for something else ....BORING use of the 2 tickets I say, and then I might never go on the somewhat more "romantic" and "relaxing" trip with my husband. I think I'd rather just pay for the wedding ticket for myself separately.Sooooo ...... if you could go anywhere, where would you fly for a fairly inexpensive vacation with my 2 free tickets? I'm totally stumped on what to do and where to go! Thanks for any input!TRVLLADY- THANKS, my husband just said the same thing, make a list to help decide....so your advice was right on target since I am stuck. And I will look into Virginia Beach more extensively then as well! moreResolved Question: What is a good place in the Caribbean to visit end of Feb - beginning of March 2010?
Need a good place to travel to in the Caribbean this Feb-March. Boyfriend's family hasn't traveled out of Canada before so its their first time to the Caribbean, or a beach for that matter. Obviously we don't want a place that would be too much of a culture shock, so somewhere with lots to do, daytime activities, and somewhat of a nightlife... oh and we are looking for all-inclusive resorts so a place that has that too. Some suggestions have been Cancun, Puerto Vallerta and Jamaica... any suggestions? Since its their first time at a beach, somewhere with a great beach would be good...Keep in mind spring break is around this time so nothing too wild...Let me know! moreResolved Question: Negril Bay Jamaica vs. Acapulco Mexico for college spring break 2010?
I am a college student trying to figure out where to go for spring break this year. I have heard good things about both Negril Bay and Acapulco, but I am not sure which one is best. I'm going to go away for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Years and was wondering which would be better, getting a beach front Cabana suite at the S.J.G. resort or a junior suite at the G.B.P.? The view would be far better at the SJG and I'd be right on the beach, over looking the ocean. But the GBP is a nicer resort, has nicer rooms, is only 2 years old, etc. Anyone familiar with both properties that can help me out? Thank you in advance. moreResolved Question: Seeking ideas for Low cost options/getaways for Christmas holiday week (Reside in MD) - ideas greatly welcome?
As we just discovered, Xmas week is SUPER expensive to travel especially this year. We had some invites to join friends or family members in places like Las Vegas, Jamaica, and a few other long distance [we live in Maryland] getaway locations, but good lord the prices of airline fares and hotels in those popular destinations during the big holiday week were outrageously high, could not afford it. Can anyone suggest places that might actually be fairly reasonable to visit & stay for a few days over Xmas ? Any direction is fine, as long as its scenic and fun or beautiful - mountains, new england, east coast beaches, I think most airline flights are kind of unreasonable at this point so close to xmas, but we live in Maryland & can drive anywhere within say a one day drive (maybe 600-800 mile range). Thought about FL which does have nice beaches and possibly warm (never know in DEC) but its hard to get a fun Xmas holiday feel in FL unlesss you stay at a Disney resort, etc. Well, any of you well-travelled folks out there that might have some great ideas for lower cost Xmas destinations - we'd greatly appreciate your ideas/advice !!! moreResolved Question: Sex on the beach ......literally lol ? ......and in Jamaica ?

Hi all First off, I hope this article doesn't put a dampener on anyone's holiday plans to Jamaica, this is just merely documenting my experience, and I welcome anyone to share their good/bad experience too. I was recently on a cruise and we stopped at Ocho Rios. We had been pre-warned that the sales technique in Jamaica was aggressive. As soon as I had got off the ship I was swarmed with cabbies insisting I take their cab to this and that and everywhere for very high rates. I had to battle my way through just to get to the security gate to the street! I thought it was very unfair as there were some people (elderly, disables etc..) who had to take a cab at those extortionate rates. Once I had reached the street, heading toward the downtown area, I was once again confronted by more than a dozen cabbies wanting me to use their cabs. After that I came to an area of people selling things behind a fence with special 'Tourist police' watching them. Later on I spoke to these tourist police and they told me they were there to protect tourists, and that the reason those particular sellers had to sell from behind the fence was because of their previous aggressive selling to tourists. I was offered everything from shells (which I could get from the beach) to quite decent souvenirs. Once I hit the downtown area I was shocked. Some of the streets looked worse than some slums in India and that unfortunately stereotypical smell of weed dominated the air. I quickly figured that the general rule of thumb in Jamaica was that if you touched something you HAD to buy it, so I was cautious to only LOOK at everything. Shop sellers came out and beckoned tourists into their stores shouting 'It's free to browse!' Free to browse? Are you kidding me? Of course it's free to browse! Who in the hell charges someone to LOOK at their shop? After taking a short walk through a near by botanic garden which lookd half-decent, I was confronted by a boy aged probably 16/17 who told me there was a cool tortoise sculpture I had to get a picture with. I told him thank-you I'll check it out. He insisted I followed him to it. I walked away getting the impression he definitely wanting payment just for showing me a statue. These are just a few of the things which I experienced in Ocho Rios. Please let me know your impressions/experiences as I'd love to hear some positive ones - but if there are negative ones I'd love to hear them too! Thanks all! moreResolved Question: cant decide where to go on vacation. we want an island and all-inclusive hotel?

Which resort did you stay at and would you stay again? I know I want to stay at one of their resorts, but I'm not sure which one. I'm leaning towards Jamaica, but they have about 5 different resorts.
