Resolved Question: What social class would you put me in?

I went to school and worked really hard, was always top of the class and have numerous certificates of achievement along with Head teachers commendations. I was always the outsider at school with many of my "friends" continually saying "You're posh, look at you, posh car, always get what you want, (no i am not a spoilt brat. I always waited, and never had a tantrum), etc. " I was brought up with Manners, to be polite respect my elders and always act with dignity, grace and poise. My exam results put me in a position to go to Grammar school as my parents wanted this. I also gained exam results that got me head hunted for Universities. I am at University studying for a BA (Hons) in Arts and Humanities, particularly Art History and Literature. I’m interested in Archaeology, Surrealism art (Salvador Dali is my favourite artist), classical Music, and History. I’m also hoping to gain a History of Art diploma with London Art College. And I’m looking into Cambridge University. I am also a part qualified AAT Accountant and hoping to continue with CIMA and perhaps ACCA at a later date. It is my wish to send my children to Public School even though I will have to pay fees. I grew up around Bewdley in Shropshire with family in Yorkshire, and Ludlow. Lived in the west midlands area for convenience and only during the school week except during Winter as travelling to the country was more inconvenient. Holidays and most weekends were spent in the country. I particularly have a love for Hampshire as it seems so peaceful and my perfect area for living. I came from a very good family on both sides, My Mothers side, well my Grandfather and his family before he married, owned land in Poland, and there was a priest in the family. The family also have lineage to the following; Counts, Countesses, Barons, Baronesses and Knights . The family were captured and tortured during WW2 because of their social class. My Grandmothers side of the family owned businesses, and also have nobility ranking dating back through history. There were many males of our family who were in the military. Mum was always looked after by my father who didn't really like her working, but she did work as a teaching assistant to avoid boredom. We have traced our Polish roots back to 500bc when the Goths were around and we have connections to Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Latvia etc. My father was a police officer/dog handler/SAS/Grenadier Guard/Security Guard/and Scenes of Crime plan drawer. The Archbishop of Canterbury is in his family lineage. and he is related to a famous racing driver (Formula One) who is his cousin. He also went to Art College. My brother lives in Australia and owns his own building firm, he has built his own home many times in various locations with one location even being on the beach. His current home has an back garden view of dolphins swimming past. He is married to accountant. My step-sister lives in Sweden and is married to a Pilot and owns a large home with approximately 5 acres of land next to woodland. They also have a yacht which is located nearby. My Niece is a trainee Doctor, and my Nephews are studying. more

Resolved Question: Things to do in Hobart... not necessarily cultural, just SOMETHING TO DO.?

I'm a gap year student and have been travelling. I am now in Lindisfarne, a suburb of Hobart, Tasmania and pretty stuck for cheap things to do. I'm staying with relatives here and can't really afford to stay in hotels so can't go out for more than one day. Especially since I'm too young to hire a car. I've been up Mt. Wellington, visited Richmond, Ross, Rosny and Cambridge shopping centres, Salamanca Markets, Hobart Museum and Art Gallery, Elizabeth Street shopping, Huon Valley and Huonville, been to 7 Mile Beach and Sandy Bay.... I know of Port Arthur and may go there. I may go see the Botanical Gardens, though it's winter and I'm not expecting much. What else can I do? Any suggestions at all are welcome? Please? more

Some Cambridge-educated novelist? Or a free-thinking Anglican bishop who still abides by his church? Actually, it was Carrie Prejean, who this week retained her title as Miss California. The clip of her answer at the Miss USA pageant has been sent around the world — and widely lampooned. Imagine it said in a plummy British accent — doesn't it sound different? Now who do you think said this? "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage." Is that line left over from Miss California? Or some young missionary at an evangelical conference? As a matter of fact, it was President Obama. Donald Trump suggested this week that people who ridicule Carrie Prejean for opposing gay marriage should remember that she has the same position as President Obama. Yet many people who like and admire the president see him as friendly to same-sex marriage. Ms. Prejean has been mocked as some kind of beach-blonde California airhead, or worse, a bigot. If you point out, as I have to a couple of e-mailers, that the president's opinion on gay marriage is more or less identical, the same people dismiss it as a painful insincerity he is forced to adopt because of people like Miss California. Which is a terrible insult to President Obama. It suggests that while Miss California speaks her mind because she doesn't know better, the president knows better but is being disingenuous.~NPR Doesn't the left realize that this witch hunt is sexism at it's ugliest? Resolved Question: UK Travel Plans! Any suggestions?

Hello all! This summer I am traveling to the UK and Ireland with my 2 friends (we are 23 yr old girls), and as of right now all we have planned and booked is a flight into london and a flight leaving from dublin to come home. We have 10 full days to enjoy over there!! Any suggestions of what we should do? I'm not quite sure how to create this itinerary! Ideally, I'd like to spend little time in London and more time exploring the countryside and other cities. I'd like to visit: - cambridge - oxford - wales - liverpool - brighton (or newquay or another beach area!) - dublin only for 2 or 3 days (nowhere else in ireland) i really love the English countryside and would love to just rent a car one day and drive somewhere .. maybe over to Devon area. Any suggestions/comments? Could I realistically make all of these places fit into my vacation time there? Any other ideas about what we should do? Apart from the culture we'd really like good shopping and vibrant nightlife as well! Thanks! more

This might be kindof stupid question but still.... I have been in the US for less than a year now in California (Santa Cruz)... I am moving to Boston (Cambridge) in a month... I just wanted to ask what were the differences (if any) between the two places.. Like, in terms of, sights, sounds, nightlife, people , beaches, girls, feel, climate (in summer), crime rate and safety, etc...
