Open Question: Need info on FIA 2010 in Costa Rica -- ticket prices, availability etc. (esp Ballet Nacional de España)?
Hola... We (my wife and I) are going to Costa Rica on March 15-21. We want to rent a car (4X4) and visit a few places in the country, but are VERY interested in seeing the Ballet Nacional de España at the Teatro Nacional in San Jose on the 18th-20th. I have found a web-site with details on the FIA and it appears that the tickets are 3,000 colones. This is also the admission price for visiting the Teatro. Does anyone know if that means the performance is 'free', or is there an additional fee? If there is, can one order/buy tickets in advance or are they only first come first served/general admission? The web site says tickets are not yet available. I have been looking at the FIA 2010 website and there are several performances/venues we may be interested in visiting, but many of the rest all seem to be 'gratuito' (free). We are terribly excited about our upcoming visit, so if you want to give any other info/suggestions/warnings etc we would be happy to hear them as well. I know that we will not be able to do justice to the entire country in just a week, so we are planning to hit just one or two areas and San Jose. Currently we are leaning towards a few days in the Arenal/Monteverde area and a couple on the beach (Nicoya peninsula or possibly Manual Antonio area?) with the rest in San Jose and surrounding areas. If you have other thoughts we will be happy to hear them.Brian... read it again, it says FIA NOT FIFA... They are NOT the same thing... moreOpen Question: Where should we stay in Costa Rica?
We are going there on our honeymoon. We want to zipline, four wheel throught the rain forest, see beautiful beaches, and see the volcano. One more thing, besides ziplining, four wheeling through the rain forest, beautiful beaches, n seeing the volcano we wanted an all inclusive resort. Any ideas? moreOpen Question: Very Important decision..cant decide which has better beaches overall Costa Rica or Belize?
I have been researching to go to either Belize or Costa Rica. I love the beauty of both countries very much. The 1 deciding factor is really the beach, My family (11 and up) love the beach, specifically walking into the ocean with no stones and being safe to swim. We want to see jungles, explore, swim in ocean close to where we stay and have no murky waters so we can swim daily while we are there. Any clues which one would be better (wish I could do both) Thanks moreOpen Question: Which destination would you recommend?
My boyfriend and I are planning on going on vacation at the end of March. We want something different from the "popular spots" like Jamaica, Dominican, Cuba and Mexico. We are looking into St. Lucia, St. Martin, Bahamas, Costa Rica, Barbados, etc. We want beachfront and a very nice resort. Preferably all inclusive. I'd like somewhere that has nice scenery and isn't just beach, although the beach is most important. We are planning for this to be a "romantic" vacation. Could anyone compare these or have any inside advice on details to do with these destinations? Thanks! moreResolved Question: I'm planning a 5 day trip to Costa Rica. What is the best tourist beach to visit there?
I am bringing 500USD will that be enough to cover my trip? I'm looking for a central location where I don't have to travel far on a cab etc.. moreVoting Question: Costa Rica questions ?
What are there accomplishments ? What kind of foods they have ? Hotels ? Beaches ? moreResolved Question: What region should I stay in in costa rica?
We want to be on the beach, but have excursions into the jungle. moreResolved Question: Ocho Rios or Puerto Vallarta?
I am trying to figure out where my fiance and I should go on our honeymoon. It is basically between Couples Tower Isle in Ocho Rios and Dreams Puerto Vallarta. We are looking for an "adventurous" honeymoon, where we can do more than just lay on the beach. We both really love the mountains and hiking, waterfalls, etc. (But also want the beach element, hence why we don't want to stay inland) We are having difficulty deciding because I have actually already visited Ocho Rios once on a cruise and did the Dunn's River Falls tour, and I didn't know if there are any other outdoorsy things to do in Jamaica. We were originally looking at Costa Rica, but couldn't find the type of hotel we wanted in our budget, if that helps give you an idea of what we like. Where do you think would be our best option? moreResolved Question: What is the best beach to swim at in Seattle or Washington in spring break?
Im from Costa Rica and I know im not gonna find a beach in Seattle like CR but what beach do you recommend in Seattle or Washington to enjoy the ocean on a sunny day? moreVoting Question: Need Advice about Central America.?
Me and 4 of my friends (all 20 years old) want to go to Central America this July for two weeks and I want to know which country would be the best. We would like to see historical sites but also nice beaches and nightlife/party scene is a must; along with adventurous activities. We don't want to be crowded with other tourists and would like to be immersed in the local cultures. 2 of my friends are of spanish decent so communicating will not be a problem. We thought about Costa Rica but are now having second thoughts. Guatemala seems nice but beaches are lacking. Belize has great beaches but I hear it is expensive. Panama is to long and narrow considering we would like to country hop. Thanks for your opinions and any more info would be appreciated. moreResolved Question: Costa Rica vaccinations?
I'm going to Costa Rica in the summer and i'm wondering if anyone on here has been and has any tips on anything to bring.. its a biology trip so going in to the rain forest and looking at bats and then to the beach and helping the turtles! Also anyone know which vaccinations are needed? Thanks! moreResolved Question: Beaches in Panama or beaches in Costa Rica? I'll be traveling to Central America and am trying to decide...?

We want somewhere that isn't incredibly crowded/overdeveloped. White sand is also a plus. moreResolved Question: Heading to Costa Rica for 4.5 days, is Monteverde a good option?
So my girlfriend and I are heading to Costa Rica in a couple of weeks and we will be there for four and a half days. We are trying to figure out what to do. We were considering Manuel Antonio and maybe heading over to Montezuma for a day or two. But we were also considering Monteverde. The problem is that Monteverde is kinda far, and we want to utilize our time the best we can. Is Monteverde a realistic option? Are there any nice beaches close to Monteverde? Thanks! moreResolved Question: Study in Chile, Argentina, or costa rica?
Hi, I Am planning a very short 1-2 week trip to either Santiago de Chile, Buenos Aires, or Costa rica to brush up on my spanish and experience something different. I was originally thinking buenos aires but heard you have to be pretty careful about being robbed and there really isn't a beach nearby. All the choices sound amazing just wondering if any more experienced travelers have a recomendation. I would be a single female traveling. And I definately want to catch some good weather and get a tan. moreResolved Question: Driving from san jose, costa rica to tamarindo.?
Myself and 5 friends are renting a car in San Jose and driving to Tamarindo at the end of April. We will be leaving at like 7am and will have all-day to mosey around along the way. Does anybody have any recommendations for some fun stops? Waterfalls, detours to some other beaches, crocodile ponds, hot-springs, cool bars/ restaurants along the way? Any help would be much appreciated! moreResolved Question: Why do Americans complain about healthcare costs when costs are far cheaper overseas?
I recently went to the Philippines, to a private hospital, and had surgery to correct a deviated septum. The surgery went very well. The American doctors I talked to wanted an insane $12,000 for the procedure. My insurance only would have covered 80%, which would mean a $2,400 bill dumped on me. Instead, I booked a $950 flight to Manila and had the procedure done for $1000 flat at the hospital. That included my room and board. When you add in my other expenses, I basically got surgery + a fun tropical beach vacation for the price the American hospital would have gouged me just for the surgery - and I'm insured! American doctors are some of the biggest ripoff artists out there. All they care about are their Jaguar payments and country club membership fees. Instead of whining about healthcare prices in America, just go overseas. If you don't want to fly across the Pacific, there are also places in Costa Rica, Panama, and Mexico with good reputations. Seriously; why don't more Americans do this? Why do they just choose to whine? moreVoting Question: Can someone help me with my Spanish assignment?
first off thank you for reading my question i need help translating something into spanish. please do not use the internet translators. My father tells us that we are going on vacation to Costa Rica! I'm so exited because i love to travel. First he speaks to the travel agent by phone. when we go to the travel agency, the travel agent gives my father the itinerary and the round-trip tickets. we need them in order to make the trip. i have to pack the bags and i should include my bathing suit . I need it to swim at the beach. The day before, my father confirms the flight. The following day we arrive at the airport with a lot of baggage. We need to stand in line in order to check it. After showing the identification, they give us the boarding passes. We need them in order to pass through security and get on the plane. My mother looks at the screen in order to know in which gate we should wait. The screen shows the arrivals and departures. During the flight i request orange juice from the flight attendant. I drink it really fast because I'm really thirsty. Also i ask him when we are going to arrive in Costa Rica. He tells me within an hour. When we arrive we get off the plane and we direct ourselves to baggage claim. Then we look for the passports. We need them in order to pass through customs. finally my Mother asks the agent where the bus stop or the train station is located. We decide to take a taxi to the hotel. thank you very much moreResolved Question: Does Mexico have Coconut Trees?
I'm going to Mexico this summer. I was watching Survivorman the other day, he was in Costa Rica and he was feasting on coconuts of all different ripeness. I'll probably be staying in a resort when I'm in Mexico but I was just wondering if I could find coconuts while I was on the beach? I want to try eating one. moreVoting Question: Costa Rica Vacation Help?
My family is considering going to Costa Rica this year. Anyone know where to visit, what to do, and when to go. We want somewhere where we can see the volcanoes, rain forest, and beaches. We have 4 teens and 4 adults. Are there cruises going there from the United States, or do we just stay at a hotel. Cheap times to go? Are the flights there cheap? Any help is appreciated. Hi! I'm a late 30-something female who's traveling alone (recently spent 2 weeks in Costa Rica/Bocas del Toro); itching for next adventure. Thinking Barbados due to variety of activity (sometimes I like to do nothing - sit in a hamock on a beach with a book) or hike, or swim, or explore. Looks like Barbados offers it all. I want a beach wedding and it is cheaper to do it out of the country. I heard that they are a lot nicer in Costa Rica and the wedding is nicer too. Hey everyone! This summer, my family and I are travelling to Costa Rica and we're in search of a nice resort. We want to stay somewhere not too far from the San Jose airport, and we DEFINITELY want something with really nice pools and a really nice beach. We're already staying at the Tabacon Hot Springs Resort, but during our last few days we want to stay somewhere closer to the airport. Any suggestions? Please let me know, thank you! :) moreResolved Question: What is your favorite vacation destination you have ever been that is out of the country?
My family and I are planning to go on a vacation soon and we are very adventurous so we are the types of people who treks through jungles and visits ancient sites of culture and all, not the ones where you lay on a beach eating crabs and drinking beer. We have already been to Costa Rica, Mexico, Ukraine, Russia. Please dont recommend the Carribean area, South America maybe but the islands there are getting old. If you can please include some phone numbers of tours and any other useful info, thx! moreResolved Question: What color is the beach water in Costa Rica?

Any help would be great, thank you! :) moreVoting Question: An amazing tropical vacation?
Hey everyone! This June, me, my mom, and my brother are going on vacation but we don't know where to go. We want to go somewhere exotic and beautiful (a place with an amazing beach, rainforests, waterfalls) BUT we don't want to it to be some touristy, commercialized place. We want it to be like a hidden gem that not many people know about, maybe somewhere sort of private and secluded. Also, we would rather it NOT be a kid-friendly place. We're all over 21 so we kinda don't wanna deal with little ones running around all over the place. Any ideas and suggestions? We were thinking of somewhere in Costa Rica, but anything would be great, thanks! :) moreResolved Question: Best spots in Costa Rica?

I'm going to Costa Rica for Spring Break for nine days and we will be visiting beaches. I really want to get my legs in better shape before then. Right now my legs are 21" around the largest point. Any exercises I can do in the next two months to take off one or two inches? I already do a dance cardio workout everday. And I've just started doing 15 lunges a day. So: Any good exercises? moreResolved Question: Where should we stay in Costa Rica in February?
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Costa Rica but we are nothing short of overwhelmed in trying to pick a place to stay. Perhaps we are being picky, but we want to set ourselves down somewhere on the beach that works with an arrival at the Liberia airport - i.e. something on the Pacific coast -someplace safe/clean. And then we'll take day trips from there to get to other places (canopy, sailing, hiking etc.). We've discussed with a travel agent who suggested Tamarindo, but then I've been reading things that suggest it's not safe or the beaches there aren't that clean? Any thought for a location AND a hotel would be great! we don't need anything rustic - just clean, full service and on/very close to the beach. moreResolved Question: Costa Rica or St Maarten with toddler?
We would like to travel in February for 9-10 days with our 2.5 year old daughter. We would like some adventure (as opposed to sitting on the beach all day), and are used to traveling off the beaten path somewhat (read: not Hilton, but also not hostels. Somewhere in between). Can anyone recommend one destination over the other? Any reason why we shouldn't go to one or either of them? Any suggested itineraries? Thank you all! moreResolved Question: Where is the best place (city) to stay at in Costa Rica?
My friend and I are 18 and we are going to vacation in Costa Rica for 2 weeks at the end of May and I was just wondering where the best place to stay is (city, hotels, etc.)? We would like to try some surfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, laying on the beach, etc. We would also like to go somewhere that is relatively safe and that has a pretty good nightlife. We both know Spanish pretty well so that is not really an issue for us. Any suggestions as to where we should go and/or stay in Costa Rica? also, we would like to stay somewhere that has some other activities or that is within driving distance of other sites or activities (ziplining, hiking, shopping--- those sorts of things) if possible. moreResolved Question: Costa Rica taxi...San Jose Airport to Hermosa beach/Jaco?

Looking to escape the brutal Chicago winter and head somewhere warm. Interested in all inclusive packages, but want to make sure we end up in the right spot and don't get ripped off. We are 31 and 26, interested in outdoor activities, beautiful beaches/landscapes and some fun nightlife—but not in the spring break, dancing-on-a-bar kinda way. So where to? Already done Cancun. Somewhere else in Mexico? Dominican Republic? Bahamas? Costa Rica? ??? Anyone have any recommendations? Trying to keep the entire trip under $2400 for the 2 of us. Thanks in advance! moreResolved Question: Which Caribbean island should we visit? Or should it be Costa Rica? Or?
My husband and I are looking to go to the Caribbean next month. Neither of us are much for just lounging in the sun and I will be about 3 month pregnant by then so partying is out as is diving, zip lines, and other such activities. We are laid back outdoorsy camping types, into photography and want both beach and rainforest. I am leaning toward St Lucia (and have looked into Guadalupe and Dominica but they don't seem as easy to get to). We don't want to go to a fancy, big money spending place or like a Spring Break or Hollywood vacation spot- just normal. I would like to avoid places I have been already (USVI, Bahamas, Jamaica) and Puerto Rico is probably too American. We are also looking into Costa Rica. We would like to keep it reasonably priced and aren't sure all inclusive is necessarily worth it for us (it seems it costs about $100 per person per day and I just cant see eating $100 worth per day- you almost have to drink your money's worth). Also we don't want to spend the whole trip at a resort- we want to get out and explore!Okay, I am being sold on PR a bit now... plus it's a lot cheaper to fly to and get good nonstop flights, or early arrivals...but would love to hear more from people... moreResolved Question: Transportation from Airport in Costa Rica?
My wife and I are flying into San Jose Costa Rica at 815pm and need to get to Hermosa Beach (near Jaco) and then back to the Airport when the vacation is over. Does anyone know of any safe and affordable ways to do this?I guess we would only need a ride FROM the airport to Hermosa Beach, that night because of already exsisting hotel accomidations. Then we would take the bus from Jaco back to the Airport. moreResolved Question: Costa Rica vacation spots?
My girlfriends and I are trying to plan a trip to costa rica sometime in the summer. What are some good vacation spots? I know there's a variety of different types of places to go in Costa Rica but we're all a group of college aged girls and we want something with beautiful beaches and activities to do. If anyone has stayed at certain hotels please let me know what your reviews were on them and anything you'd recommend to help me plan a trip there! Thank you! moreVoting Question: Honeymoon this September?
My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon for September 19th-26th of 2010. We have been to Cancun together, Fort Lauderdale and San Diego. We love to travel. We LOVED Cancun. We spent out days laying on the beach and swimming in the ocean. We want to do exactly that on our honeymoon. Lay by a pool and beach...and be on a beach that is warm and swimmable. We would like some advenure....as we did do Isle Muerjas when we went to Cancun and loved that. But being September we don't want to have the possibility of having our trip ruined by a hurricane. So here are the places we have found as possibles. Cabo, Aruba, Costa Rica, Bonaire, or Curacao. We want to do an all inclusive....because we loved that in Cancun. The only problem is we have no experience with any of this locales. Please help! If can choose a location and suggest a hotel...that would be great! My family is planning on going to Costa Rica in February. We would like a city with a sandy beach with white sand and beautiful palm trees also a little tropical not to cityish. Thanks so much <3 moreResolved Question: I'm planning a trip to Costa Rica with friends and we're worried about a few things...?
Basically, my friends and I (four of us in total) are planning a trip. We have planned to use a tour package, because we feel that it will allow us to see the most scenic spots in the state, and that it will be the cheapest alternative to staying at hostels and avoiding the more unpleasant routes. We've taken a 'beach' trip, that, for the price of roughly 800 for double occupancy, gives us free car rental, all dinners paid, and all hotels paid. This is a pretty good deal. My friend has recently talked to a family member that had visited Costa Rica a few summers ago. She said that the summer-time season was the worst time of the year to go to Costa Rica due to a few issues. Summer-time, as in, the wet season, between May and September. We would be going during July. She said that the heat, the mosquitoes (which carry malaria and other diseases) as well as the common dysentery are problems associated with going to Costa Rica during the month of July, and that while there, she became ill a number of times. While she had fun going, her worry is that the month of July will provide us with bad experiences. So what's the deal with this? Point taken, what's the best month to see Costa Rica? We understand that Costa Rica is the most beautiful during the wet season, but we are worried about illness and the present mosquito issue that is occurring in Costa Rica during this season. moreTop Costa Rica Beaches Links
