Resolved Question: i just some wedding questions?
Hi i have a few questions. Ok first question is my boyfriend is catholic and i am not. He wants a catholic priest to marry us. Well i dont have a problem with that as long as its not a catholic wedding. I mean I want him to marry us with the traditional i do i do kiss the bride... lol.Would the priest do that? Question two, We want to be married in a church, do you have to be a member of a church to get married in it or do they "rent" out churches for a day? question 3, If we decided to do an out door wedding what would be the best way of picking out a good place? I live in the gulf region of Texas and i DO NOT want a beach wedding... i kinda want an enchanted forest... Any ideas and thank you for answering my other questions :D moreOpen Question: Extreme diet rut, help?
I am 5'4, 156 pounds. I have 10 pounds of baby fat left to lose. I already lost 18 pounds. My baby is now 2.5 years old. But I have some issues: 1. I moved back from abroad (USA) to home (middle east) and I don't like the way food tastes here. So I stick to pasta and chicken. I lost my appetite for creative cooking. 2. I am usually spending the day working, going to school part time, and picking up after my family. I do basic house chores (laundry, dishes, tidying, folding clothes) on a daily basis. I cannot think about exercise. 3. I have a stationary bike at home, which is nice. It's been lying amidst moving in boxes, but I removed them today, in hopes of some progress. 4. Gyms here (a gulf country) are 250$/month. The weather outside is polluted. Walking paths lie next to sewage points or high voltage electricity posts. Beaches are filthy, and women walking alone on beaches get harassed by losers most of the time. Today I tried to starve myself a little. I ended up cooking a big bowl of soup (good), followed by 1 can of pepsi, and 100 calorie ice cream (not horrible, but not ideal!) I have managed to keep my weight pretty much 154-156 for more than a year, so I am obviously good at maintenance. But I suck at losing weight :( . I just don't feel happy enough to want to lose weight. Feeling happy (continuously enough for weight to fall off) was the best diet for me. I only lost weight in the USA, but I have not been able to lose weight here, at my home country, so far. (Yes I am a tad bit depressed, but I don't pig out on food. I just don't feel like cutting back on food, or exercising, although I love physical activity. On most days, I am just physically exhausted by my toddler). I rarely sit on the couch and just watch tv or something. I try to watch my calories not to go over 1800-2000 a day. I never eat fried foods, and rarely order junk food. I mostly each low fat cheese sandwich, olive oil spread, lean grilled chicken, things like that. Dried fruit, some cashew. My taste buds are a bit bored, and my mind is starting to hate going to the grocery store (horrible traffic all day long, plus pollution), especially that I cut my fingers twice just walking to the store (crumbled concrete, slippery unmaintained surfaces, and metal rods sticking out of the ground). The last scrape I got is still healing 2 weeks later, and got infected along the way. Dizzying place to live in, and it is reflecting on my appetite and food choices. Advice?cut my fingers=toes :) moreOpen Question: Family vacation in disney world then wanting to go to beach for 3 day? any advice?
i have a family of 5, 3 kids 6 and under, were going to disney world this sept. 12th through the 19th and would like to leave and go to the gulf the 19th through the 22nd. we would like there to be a lot of shopping and such along the beach (i don't like to have to put the kids in and out of the car alot) but would also like it to be a good and safe beach for our family any suggestions? oh i don't want to have to drive more than 2-3 hours from disney to the beach. If you suggest a beach and you know of a nice beach front hotel there please reccomend! i'm having a hard time finding some reasonaible ones (170 or under a night) Thanks in advance for any help or sugestions! (I was thinking gulf because i hear there's smaller waves, warmer, and shallower) Not sure if that's all true. moreVoting Question: Can anyone suggest a pet friendly house to rent on the beach in gulf shores-orange beach alabama?

I'm trying to pick the best spot to vacation on the beach in FL that's close to Orlando. I did a lot of research and it sounds like the calmer better beaches are on the Gulf side, but 2 hours is just too far away when traveling with a child about a year old. However, it sounds like the Atlantic side beaches like cocoa and daytona are kind of unsafe for children. Is there ANY beach that's family friendly/ calm waters about an hour from Orlando? Or am I out of luck?Is new smynra any good? moreResolved Question: Plans for beach trip this summer?
This summer my whole family (parents, sisters, cousins, grandparents) are coming to the beach at gulf shores. One of my cousins is my age (15) and we need ideas of what to do. We don't want to be stuck with family all week but we can't drive. My question is: What are some fun things to do at the beach without driving that parents would allow? besides the basics(tanning, swimming, sandcastles:P) Also, are there any good ways to find guys to hang out with i guess? Are there any good teen hangouts at night? annnnnddd sorta off topic but where is a good place to find swimsuits? Thank you (: moreResolved Question: What are some nice beaches in florida?
I've heard the gulf coast is nicer than the east coast beaches, but I need more specifics. We are looking for a nice clean beach to enjoy the beach itself, so nightlife is not necessary. Also we'll be driving from orlando so the traveling distance needs to be within reason (2-3 hrs max). moreVoting Question: Where can I find engraved, half-heart necklaces?
Two years ago, I was on vacation with my family in Florida. We went to a small beach shop along the Gulf of Mexico where I found magnetic half-heart pendants engraved with various names. I bought one with my name, and one with the name of my boyfriend, brought them home, and gave him the half with my name. However, he has recently misplaced it. So for Valentine's Day this year, I thought replacing the necklace he lost, or perhaps purchasing a whole new set, would be a good addition to the other gift I have for him. Does anyone know where I can find a necklace or pendant set like this? I have searched several sites, and I can't find anything! Thanks! moreResolved Question: Beach house rentals at Gulf Shores, Alabama?
The beach house rentals seem reasonable and although not exactly fancy, very adequate and very near the beach. Does anyone know if the rental houses in this area are worth the money (about $100 a day in the spring, which is when we would be there). This place is 2 bedrooms, 3 beds, and a pull out couch...can sleep 6, has washer and dryer and all amenties you expect at home. It's average quality, nothing fancy. moreVoting Question: Im thinking about buying a condo in Gulf Shores to live in. Any advice?
I live in West Tennessee right now, me and my wife own our own house and have no kids, we are both under 30. We are by no means rich or even middle of the middle class, but my dream has been always been to live close to the beach, and we have vacationed in Gulf Shores many times throughout the last few years and loved it. Here lately I have been looking at condos in Gulf Shores to buy, and have found a quite nice one that has been foreclosed on for 85,000 dollars and that is close to what we paid for our house here in Tennessee, but i know cost of living is mory in Gulf Shores than it is down here but what I was bassically wanting to know is the advantages or disadvantages of buying a condo in Gulf Shores, more of a vacationing place than living place, but that has been my dream and I just wanted something I can take back to my wife and kind of show her the different aspects of living in a condo rather than living in our own house, by the way this condo is a two story i think two bedroom condo.not a 2nd home, to live in! And with jobs, my wife has had a job offer from there for a while now, she is in the medical field, but i would need to find something. moreResolved Question: whats the best beach to visit on the florida coast of the gulf of mexico?
moreResolved Question: Is Gulf Shores, Alabama a good place to vacation?
I am near Des Moines, Iowa, it's just under 1,000 miles. I have been to Florida many times, but my wife has never been to the Gulf (ocean). We wanted a trip that wasn't going to take forever, and yet have a decent family beach area. Seems there's a water park and zoo there as well. I think we are actually going to stay in Foley, as I know how outrageous beach hotels can be. Basically, I am asking anyone who has been to the public beach at Gulf Shores if it is decent, if they have natural beaches where you can find shells, and if April would be warm enough to swim. Thanks for all the information!! moreVoting Question: Surf-fishing (gulf beach) at temps as low as 32° F.?
I need to know what gear to take along. What type of waders to buy? Neoprene? Breathable? Please point me in th the right direction, don't know a thing about waders and related gear. We intend to walk into the surf to cast into the waves. Tight fit's better than looser fit, or the other way around? Best materials to choose? Thickness needed? What to wear underneath? If it rains, what should I wear on top? Ski-masks would be ridiculous, or a good idea? Best brand for under US$150 ? Thanks... moreResolved Question: Is there still an interest to publish WWII diaries?
I have my Dad's three Naval diary booklets that have daily entries that cover the period form January 1938 to September 1945. They include tours of duty on the USS Astoria, USS SC 1002 and the USS Syrma. They record his being at or involved in such events as Fleet Problems, Japanese Ambassadors remains delivery, search for the Sea Dragon, Battenberg Cup Race, Pearl Harbor aftermath, Wake Island Battle, Coral Sea Battle, Midway Battle, Gulf Sea Frontier, and ship commissionings. There are underlying references of personal and navy life, too, such as motion pictures, live entertainment, train travel, dating women, family visits, beer drinking, beach parties, military training, etc. Besides these booklets, there are memorabilia artifacts that he saved that further document his presence such as newspaper articles, brochures, photos, postcards and letters. At this time, I have transcribed all this into a MS Word document, aka 600 page book. This has been shared with the family but now is the question of whether to share further or publish? Any help would be appreciated. moreResolved Question: My 5 year old has two different rashy symptoms after beach and pool time?
I am posting this in both Health and Parenting. My 5 year old has been in and out of the Gulf of Mexico, an indoor pool and a jacuzzi tub for the last week while we have been on vacation. We have been away with other children-- all preschool aged so the possibility of having something contagious is just a likely as a Reaction to something. Yesterday my son woke up with puffy red cheeks after spending the day on the beach. It wasn't sunburn (he was wearing sunblock-- potential culprit-- and a hat.) He has also mentioned that he isn't feeling well-- but being 5 he will also take on any symptom you suggest-- sore throat, stomachache, etc. We are traveling home with him and he just showed us an itchy rash on his hand. It's on the back and is a big red patch with small raised white bumps. Any experience or ideas? We won't be home to call our doctor or try to get an appt. until Sunday night. Thank you! Thanks Kelly E-- Fifth's disease is what I am thinking-- the raised bumps on his hand are throwing me off though. moreResolved Question: Planning before deployment?
My husband's family has invited us to go to the coast (gulf coast) during the block leave he will get prior to deployment. We live in New Mexico so it would be quite a drive through the desert areas and through large stretches of nothingness. I will be 9 months pregnant, but still a few weeks from my due date. I told them I could not do that because if I go into labor on the road it could be bad. So then his mom offered to fly us out an when I told her they won't let women in their third trimester fly due to air pressure changes causing labor, she looked at me like I was purposefully trying to ruin her plans. Then I said that my hubby can go without me since it will only be a week with family at the beach. They all said no to this but now I feel like the bad guy because my hubby will be away from family for a year when he gets deployed so I know he wants to go. What would you guys do?Uhh I don't know where the one lady got the idea that he wou;n't be there for the birth if I don't drive there, but that is not the issue. Help! I need to find the perfect destination in Mexico, but I am looking for something specific! I went to the Pacific side last year and I want to go to the Gulf side this time where I can see some ancient ruins. I want a place that is AUTHENTIC... not dangerous like Tijuana, but a place where it is more quiet and there are not a bunch of tourists (ie cancun, couzmel, etc). Any SERIOUS suggestions would be much appreciated. Again, a place that is: -On the gulf side of Mexico -Quiet (no tourists, no cancuns, couzmels, etc.) -Romantic -Preferably on the beach OR near the beach -A city with a NICE hotel I can stay at (I realize this will sacrifice a bit of its authenticy, but I think you get what I am saying.) -Authentic (some place that I am really going to need to use my Spanish and there's not an abudance of "Americanized" people. I'm looking to go to MEXICO, not a resort area, lol) moreResolved Question: Summer 2010 Vacation Rental, Flordia / Alabama Gulf Coast for 13 people?
