I want to live in a fun city- I'm 21. I'm looking for a condo, apartment, or even house. Two or three rooms. Can anyone recommend a city? more

Open Question: Constructive Criticism? Will award 10pts?

This weekend I engaged in a plethora of listless activities, some of which are included in the paragraphs below. On Friday night, I ventured up to Downtown Cleveland with some of my people to what I was told was a “Walk under a bridge Event” (I am not positive of what exactly It was called). Then, after the sun was set long over the horizon, I traveled with some of my associates up to the beach and walked (I settled into a jog) along some large rocks set up along a portion of Lake Erie’s southern coastline. Then after about 8 hours of heavily fragmented sleep (as a result of my faulty air conditioner, which led to an unbearably humid room), I proceeded to assist my mother produce various baked goods for my relatives overzealous enjoyment. And after that, a miniscule amount of my cousins and I observed a drive in movie – where I was so exhausted that I fell asleep in the truck before the movie even began. On Sunday – I went observe my cousins band play, again, somewhere in Downtown Cleveland. The music that exploded from their amps in the moderately large venue was pretty much either hardcore screemo or acoustic indie. Then I discovered that my one of my new favorite television shows has been cancled, so I collapsed on a piled of blankets, drank Apple Cider and struggled to comprehend John Stienbacks beloved story “Of Mice and Men”. Any spelling or grammitical errors I missed? Constructive criticism please? more

Resolved Question: Does Kelleys Island Have an actual Beach area?

My husband and I wanted to take our 4 and 2 year old kids to the beach this summer but we didnt want to take them too far away so I was thinking about Lake Erie in Ohio. Our family of 6 adults and 1 child want to go to Crytal Beach, Ontario and want to know which hotels, motels, cottages etc to stay at. Also, is it a nice beach, how is Lake Erie to swim in. We may also stay closer to Niagara Falls (Canadian side) and then just drive to the beach. It's only about 15 mintues away, but we're also not sure of where to stay in Niagara Falls area either. Resolved Question: What are some good Great Lakes beaches?

I live in Michigan, but I don't really go to the lakes much. I used to with my parents when I was little, and would like to take some friends to (preferably) Lake Huron for the day. I live only a short distance away from Lake Erie, but it's pretty polluted in this area & not good a beach environment. I'm about equidistant from Lake Michigan & Lake Huron, I think. Lake Superior is my favorite but I don't really want to drive all the way up there. What are some good beaches for either of these lakes?? more

Resolved Question: Is my Upper Class or are we just Middle Class?

This seems like an odd question to ask and it may seem like any idiot could tell if they are from a rich family or not but I live in an area where pretty much everyone has nice stuff. Well my Dad is a Superintendent, my mom is a teacher, and my grandparents are multi-millionaires from selling their film company to fuji film. I got my first car from my parents for free when I was 16, it was a lightly used hand me down Chrysler Sebring Convertible. I never had to pay any insurance, and rarely pay for my own gas. I don't have to pay for College, and my brother's and sister's each got their own car as well. We just recently got a Lake House on Lake Erie which is really nice, private beach, hot tub, new boat. We go on vacation to places like the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Southern California annually. I know it sounds like a luxurious life, but I've heard some people go around the world just for kicks whenever they want and get brand new bentley's on their 16th b-day so I don't really know if im rich or just upper middle class. more

Resolved Question: What beach in Lake Erie PA are you allowed to put up a tent and sleep on the beach at night?

I am going with my husband and 4 kids & dog and we want to go there for the day and sleep in our tents right on the beach at night. We have never been there. I do not know where along lake erie we can do this. Most "campsite" info is very vague on beach tents. Does that mean there isn't any real laws in the books on the matter and you can basically do this at your own risk? or is it because you are not allowed to have tents anywhere besides designated campsite places? thanks more

Resolved Question: Is this a date? - If so, what do I do on beach dates?

I don't know if it is a date or not. (I'm 18, and just got the urge to date. Never tried it before). So I told this girl I was talking to a few weeks "I'm thinking about going out to the beach Thursday, depending on if my step-dad needs help for work. She said: "hhmmm, Thursday morning is open for me, lemme know if you can go! :)".... So if I say yes is this a date? If so, what should I do? Just walk around and talk with her? What should I bring? Would it be good to just wear swimming trunks, and a white t-shirt? It's just a beach along Lake Erie, so it isn't very large. I'm already getting nervous... I made up the whole thing about helping my step-dad so I could use that as my cop-out if it came down to it. But I REALLY don't want to wuss out, and miss the opportunity to be with this girl. more

Resolved Question: Who goes to Lake Erie to swim/sunbathe ?

Resolved Question: Looking for the "PETA" point of view?

Many are members of PETA, and disagree with the owning of, or slavery of animals. I am just curious as to what your opinions are on a few things. I "own" 2 dogs, 2 cats and 3 snakes. None of these animals were purchased by me. The first dog is two years old, my B*tch of a mother in law bought him from a designer dog show at the IX center when he was a 7 weeks old, she didn't name him, purchase food or toys or anything for him other than a cage. She came home with him, put him in the cage and literally left him there for over 24 hours. I found him with no food or water, covered in his own feces. I screamed at her and informed her if she didn't fix the situation, he was going home with me. I gave him a bath, clean his cage, bought food and gave him water. I found him in the same circumstances the next day and kept my word. Max has now been with me now for over 3 years. He is my baby, I would die for this little dog. Next is my buddy, Jager. *yay-gur, like the alcohol* Before my husband and I were married, we lived in a not so nice neighborhood... the ghetto if you will. There was a house on the same block as ours, the people living there had 2 dogs, a female boxer and a male pitbull. They left them outside all the time, I never saw them give the dogs real dog food, only scraps. Both dogs drank from rain puddles and slept in the dirt. It was really heartbreaking. So eventually the female got pregnant and had a litter of 5 pups. The family also had 5 or 6 kids of their own. I saw the pups a week or so after they were born, they were adorable. When the pups were old enough the guy put an ad in the paper to sell 4 of them, they wanted to keep the one male. Unfortunatly their brat children killed 3 of them. I was outside with Max when I heard them playing and kicking around what I thought was a ball. I heard a squeel and some yelping, when I looked I wanted to cry. They were playing soccer, with an 8 week old pup as the ball. I ran at them, yelling all the way up the drive and scooped up the pup. The parents were not home so I called the police. I kept the pup that the children had been torturing, the same male pup they had wanted to keep. The city *THANK GOD* took the remaining pup and neighbors adopted the parents. Jager is now a year and a half old and a very good boy. He has ideopathic epilepsy, but is now on medication and has been seizure free for 5 months. Next are our kitties. My husband and I moved to a new house, and live one street away from Lake Erie. Every nice day I take Jager out for a walk and we head down to the beach. One day, I saw a man walking quickly, he had a black garbage bag in hand. He walked through the gated entrance to the beach, tossed the bag into the dumpster and left just as quickly. My dog pooped on the way, I had a baggy to throw away as well. I flipped up the lid to the dumpest and heard desperate meowing. I immediately pulled the bag out and found 3 tiny kittens. One was already dead :( but I took the other two home with me. They are now about 6 months old, a female calico, Pretty. and an orange male, BooBoo. My snakes are not a very interesting or heartwarming story. Before we were moving out of our old apartment, the apartment below us was vacant. One day we decided to go investigate and the people had left behind their pets. Mind you the people had been gone for over a month, and this was mid October so it was cold in there. Inside, we found 2 juvenile red tail boas and a 10 ft albino burmese python. None of them had a heat lamp. It's kind of amazing to me that they didn't freeze to death. Basically what I am wondering, is since PETA does not believe that ANYONE should have pets, what should I have done? Left all the animals to die? Turn them loose so that they could die slowly of starvation, hypothermia or getting hit by a car??? more

Voting Question: Has the seven year cycle of the great lakes ever been explained?

My grandfather once told me in the 70's that the great lakes rise steadily for seven years then fall for seven years in an endless cycle. I witnessed this years later when I returned. Lake Erie had risen enough to submerge approx 200 lineal feet of beach and the waves were lapping at the seawall. I've heard that the increased population in the region has affected this normal cycle and that it has not been as predictable as it was decades ago. It was considered a mystery back then ( in the seventies ) but I hoped that someone has figured it out by now ... signed, Forever Curious more

My family and I are planning a summer vacation and we'd like to go somewhere warm, sunny and wet so my husband suggested a beach, but we don't know where to go. We live near Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and we'd like to go somewhere with some sort of campground near walking distance to the beach, resterants near by, and clean. Resolved Question: How do you get a dog to like water?

My family has a dog and he fears water, he will take a bath calmly but if you even say the word he starts shaking. I'm adopting a puppy this summer so how can I make her more calm when it comes to water? I will introduce her to it early in the bathtub when she's small but are where can I find a lake or beach area that I could take a dog to? I live in Ohio and could drive up to the beaches on Lake Erie but I doubt I can take dogs there, unless it's off season and then it would be too cold. Any ideas where I could go? And any other tips on how I can make her comfortable with water? I could take her kayaking when she is still small and probably will. I know not to use water as a punishment (like spritzing them with it). Is there any way I can create a game with it or something? Thanks in advance! BTW: I know this is advance notice but I'm excited and just trying to think of everything. more

Resolved Question: Dreams with water....?

I have had some really weird dreams in which i was in water, such as: I dreampt i was a mermaid on steriods who competed in swimming races. I was racing in an underwater wal-mart with a "merman" who i found attractive. Then when it came to the day of the big race i forgot to take steroids and i couldnt swim, almost at all. In the other two i was no more than knee deep in water: I was with a guy that i seemed to like, and he lead my into a lake about knee deep. It was really foggy and erie. He was holding me against his chest, he had no shirt. I felt safe in his arms, but something about the water made me really uneasy, and i remember him telling me something about his mother being in the water. another dream I was with a guy i liked and we were on some beach, he lead me through the shallow parts of the lake over bigger rocks. finally we stopped on a rock and he held me against his chest(once again he had no shirt),and for some reason the water made me uneasy,i told him we got outwhat would any of this mean? thanks!! more
