Open Question: Need some exchange help... Living in Oz - want to go to Canada/US...?
I plan to leave after Christmas 2010 so I can spend New Years in New York or Las Vegas (which one?)... start uni Semester 1 (which is their Winter) - then travel around the US in (summer, YAY) May, Jun & Jul - and be back end of July to start Uni in Australia again beginning of August... So - I'm unsure of where to go - These are my choices: Firstly - I can go to Canada and stay with family. That would save me accomodation for the months I'm studying so I can spend more travelling later. Maybe a few restrictions on what I can do. Either way, I'll still be travelling around with friends 3 months after my semester... Secondly - I can choose between the following and live on campus, or hope a friend comes with... These are the Unis that have caught my attention that i can go to: University of North Carolina (Wilmington) - close to the beach! Northern Arizona University (Flagstaff) - Close to LA, Las Vegas, Mexico Tulane University (Louisiana) - Not sure why this grabbed my attention? State University of New Paltz (New York) - Close to NYC!! - 2 hours away. Ohio State University (Columbus) - Seems like there will be a lot of people there... Any help will be appreciated on the Uni's or areas - what you reccomend. I don't know at all!! My plan was to go with a friend, but I don't think that is working out accordingly, so they plan to meet me after my semester and travel for a couple months with me before I come back.. I just want to make the most of the time that I will be there... and I don't know where to stay to make this happen. Thanks! moreOpen Question: Does anyone know the brand of bicycle that Marisa Tomei is riding in the "Into the Heart of Italy" commercial?
I have a one-speed beach cruiser and am thinking about getting another bike. I love retro/vintage European bicycles and the one in this commercial is perfect! I live in NYC. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to find a bike similar to this one? Thanks! moreOpen Question: I love a guy who has a girlfriend. Please help!?
I met this guy in 2008 and we both work for the same company. He started off as my roommate and we shared a room in NYC and we flew together a few times. Every night he would come into the room and take off his clothes and hop into his bed. I really don't think he was trying to signal for me to do anything. There was a lot of sexual tension building up from that. We use to stay up at wee hours in the morning just talking. I moved out just to live by the beach and he moved somewhere else. I can tell that he loves his girlfriend and I respect that (He flies to another country to see her every week) I don't want to break them up; however I want him all to myself. I think I make him uncomfortable because he came home one day and saw me naked. It was a mistake and he left the room feeling bad. Today, we worked a trip together and are at the hotel right now. He is in his room and I am in mine. I just want to tell him how much he means to me as a person but I can't do it = ( All I am doing is just hoping that they will somehow breakup...I know I am being irrational right now. Everytime I see him, my heart beats fast. How would I handle my relationship with him?Thank you because I just don't want to be the other woman. I'm just going to cherish what we have and that's a decent friendship. Thank you. moreOpen Question: I am relocating for work from NYC. Where should I live in Orange County? Ok I currently live in cali with my husband of 2yrs.We love it out here.We have a beautiful beach house,an awesome little dog and to me what seems to be the greatest relationship a married couple can have.I travel back to nyc quite often(my husband and I are both from there) and everytime I visit my mother my best friend comes over to see me.But she always seems annoyed when she sees that my husband is with me.She always leaves whenever we start laughing about something or finishing each others sentences. The last time i visited my mother asked me to tone down my happiness it makes my best friend upset. But i mean cmon why should I act like im miserable just because she is.Im happy.I found the man of my dreams and have a great life out here.My friend on the other hand has a child by a guy who no longer wants to be with her due to her laziness and lack of being lady-like.Shes been to lord knows how many GED programs and leaves whenever she feels she doesnt want to go anymore. She stays home all day and her daughter is at daycare from the morning til the evening.Shes miserable but I feel like that shouldnt be my problem.I did what I had to do finished college and now at 25 want to enjoy my life with my husband and focus on my future. Is it wrong of me to not really care if shes feels hurt when shes around us. Btw she always has something negative to say when she sees us...I have tried introducing her to some of my other friends and she says there boring because we would rather enjoy a nice dinner and maybe some drinks then hanging out in front of the building and taking care of kids. And i am sympathetic but cmon 7yrs..how much longer am i suppose to be sympathetic.im 25 shes 28 i mean cmon at some point you have to get your shit together. moreVoting Question: After Prom Where to go?

Right now im in 8th grade. I have a dream of growing up and living in a really nice apartment/condo at the top of a building in the downtown of a big city like Miami or New York or San Diego. I want to live close to a beach but if not then somewhere like NYC. Maybe somewhere like this: http://www.condhotel.com/images/Four-Seasons-Condo-Hotel-Miami.jpg I want to live where there is a lot of stuff going on. Like in the heart of downtown. Not somewhere boring. http://www.adrianheckstall.com/development/upper_east_side/oasis_on_the_bay/images/oasis_miami_condo.jpg I kind of want to be a lawyer because I love arguing. I want to make a lot of money. Don't reply and tell me to do something based on what I enjoy and not based on how much money I would make cause I know that. Any ideas? How much does an average lawyer make? How would I keep growing as a lawyer and making more money? moreResolved Question: Are women jealous that men can go topless in public & at pools, but they can't?
Sure seems like it. I saw a feminist website recently where women were trying to start a movement of going topless in public. And all this bashing of men that go jogging with their shirts off, or go to the beach in the summer with their shirts off. And while feminists did fight for it to be legal in certain places, like NYC, it still "socially unacceptable". And that's why you generally don't see women in NYC going topless despite its legality. I mean, it's not against the law for a man to wear a dress in public, but it's still socially unacceptable.mischief: Then let's see you do it. Go jogging at a crowded park with no shirt on and no bra. Or go walking down a busy street. Or to a beach. Fact is, you couldn't deal with the scorn & ridicule. I have not once seen a woman topless in public -- so obviously it isn't easy.Mabel B: I've been to a few countries in Europe. Never saw one topless woman. Only men. I'm not talking about private "nude beaches".Let me just add, I was walking with my ex-GF in NYC once during the summer and she saw a guy jogging with his shirt off. She said "I wish I were a guy just for that reason" because she wanted to walk around with her shirt off. But the thing is, she prefers being a woman because she knows all the perks & privileges women get that men don't, and knows that men are more oppressed & repressed than women. But she did admit that she was jealous of that one factor -- that men can go shirtless.Let's put it like this -- I see more male cross-dressers & trannies in skirts, pantyhose & heels in public, than I see women topless in public (which is none). Both are socially unacceptable, but apparently women with their breasts out is even more unacceptable.EB: I've been to Australia -- never saw a topless female.Dior: They're "allowed" to but they often don't. Not to the same degree as men. moreResolved Question: Where should we go for Spring Break?
My step-sister and I have to choose a place to travel for Spring Break. The thing is, we have radically different personalities. She likes parties, fashion, clubbing, beaches, and shopping. I like museums, history, writing, photography, art, meeting new people, walking, stuff like that. We are both 18 and can drive, though I prefer solitude while she always wants company. Ideally I would accompany her to do what she wants while also having time to myself. We'd prefer a place where we speak the language. We both speak English and Spanish, but I prefer English, while she prefers Spanish. I also speak Italian. We would also prefer that the flight not be longer than 10 hours. I don't think she'd agree to England (and I went this past year anyway), and I didn't really like Paris (though I did enjoy smaller towns near the Pyrenees when I went to France). That said, staying in the US would be preferable, but not necessary. We've been to NYC twice this past year, so that's out. She suggested Los Angeles, but I can't think of anything I'd want to do there (but if you have suggestions, I'd be amenable to hearing them). I suggested Alaska, but she immediately declined. I have been to Spain (Madrid), but she hasn't, so right now, we're thinking Barcelona. But I think that's a bit far for her first time traveling out of the country. Another choice would be Amsterdam, but, again, we don't speak the language (though I'm sure enough people there speak English). I'd be open to hearing suggestions. Anything to do in Los Angeles? Canary Islands? Barcelona? ANY other place in the US would be great as well if there's enough for both of us to do. P.S. - We don't want any place that gets too swamped during Spring Break, like Mexico. We live in Miami, so we see plenty of that already. For this reason, beaches are also not necessary, though she would appreciate it.She doesn't like the cold at all, but I love it. Ideally it'd fall somewhere in the middle so we could both enjoy the weather. moreResolved Question: Should I move to Miami, San diego, San Fran, LA or NYC?

Okay so I just want to see what people think of my perceptions of these cities. To give some background, I grew up in Northern New Jersey very close to New York City and am currently living in Chicago for school. I have been to LA maybe a dozen times to visit family. From these experiences I have found that people in LA love to rave about the "great" weather, but I personally enjoy the changing of the seasons. I have found LA to be polluted, to have very poor urban planning with no central downtown and terrible traffic, but I will admit the beaches are nice. As an east coaster I have noticed that people in other parts of the country view us as mean and standoffish. From an outsiders perspective I can understand that, but this is just the language of the people. People in every region of the U.S. have different characteristics. East Coasters are fast paced, Midwesterners are extremely nice, Southerners have a psuedo-niceness about them and West Coasters are airheads. Knowing NYC pretty well, I would honestly have to say that NYC beats out all other cities in the U.S. in nearly every category, with the exception of weather. Plus if you are a career oriented person looking to attain success, LA is not the place to be. As they say if you can "make it" in New York, you can make it anywhere. Many people tend to forget that they call it the east coast because we also live on an ocean! The Atlantic is beautiful and has a unique feel in every state from Maine to Florida. So my final verdict is that LA has nice weather, but its infrastructure and people are turn offs. NYC on the other hand provides the full alpha world city experience, is where people go to become successful, but is expensive. I know this may seem offensive to West Coasters, but its more ridiculous to even debate which city is better. New York City is the reason why people visit America, its history and culture represent the roots of this country. So just be proud that you live in a country with such a city. moreResolved Question: American Staffordshire Terrier or Staffordshire Bull Terrier?

Hello everyone! Basically there's this guy whom I've known for nearly five years. We've been friends since our freshmen year of high school. Both of us liked each other back then, but never said anything. Sophomore year he moved away but that summer he paid for my ticket to fly out to see him. Then around thanksgiving we got in a huge fight and didn't speak for exactly a year. This past September he drove out here with his friend and a bunch of us went to NYC and Hampton Beach ect. At the end of the trip his kissed me on the cheek. Then he went into training to be a Marine and asked that I write him letters, so I did. Right before he left he said he wanted to take me to Japan with him when he went, just me and him. Letters was pretty much how we communicated until a few days ago when he arrived in California and now has weekends off. He asked for my new cell number and promised he'd call the next day. He actually did and we talked for over an hour and we talked a lot about his training ect. Then he told me I didn't know how much my letters meant to him, and that I was almost too beautiful and that he wants me to come to California this summer when his parents fly out. He even offered to pay for my ticket (though I declined that offer, I hate mooching.) Does this mean that he likes me or is he just being nice? I have veeerrrryy little experience with guys, so I'm not sure if he's just being a good friend or what, I know he tells other girls how pretty they are and a lot of guy-friends do stuff like that. I don't want to ask right out because I would really hate to mess up our friendship. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thank you so much!! moreResolved Question: who has the best transsexuals women Club in American?

Okay, so I live in the suburbs of New Jersey, where there is not much to do, especially since it's winter. In the warmer months, my boyfriend and I like to go for rides on the motorcycle, go to the beach, go to nyc, camp, and just be outside. But with it being winter and all, there isn't really anything to do. I am so sick of what we do every Friday/Saturday night, which is drink and watch tv, movies, youtube, or whatever. I'm tired of drinking and I'm tired of being so sedentary. Some of my boyfriends' work friends go to a rock gym every Friday, which is something I definitely want to do, but I am not in shape enough right now. In a month or so, I will be able to do it, but not right now. So the point is - What are some suggestions of things to do in the winter that aren't sitting at home drinking? moreResolved Question: I want to travel, But im scared...Please tell me, what can I do?
So im thinking of going to miami for a week in March. Im from Ct, which would be a 3 hour flight. Last time I was in a airplane, I was about 7 years old. Im now 21. For the past 5 years or so I have been having problems with my stomach. I cant take trips, If I know they are going to last more than 1/2 hour or so and I have to drive because if someone else does, my stomach will start hurting me a lot. I would love to go to NYC which would be a 2 hour drive but I never go do because of my condition. Im a 21 year old female and never really traveled out of state or to beaches at least because Im always scared of my stomach hurting. Right now Im 3 months pregnant and want to go to Florida in March when I will be about 5 months. I want to go before I give birth because I know it will be hard to travel with a baby. Im not going to Miami to party or drink, So please dont tell me it's too late for that. My question is what can I do in a airplane to stop these pain in my stomach? Just by looking at them make me go crazy. I work at the airport and I see airplanes everyday all day right outside my office and they do make me sick. I also know that usually they want the passengers in the airplane 30 minutes before they take off. Those 30 minutes are just too much for me to sit and relax and just wait for the takeoff....Please helpppp moreResolved Question: Road-trip to Miami this summer - is south beach really the best choice?
me and one (as of now) friend, are planning a road trip to Miami this summer to step-out of the boring and ordinary here in NYC. Since we are going to Miami to experience the nightlife, the weather, the beaches, and the people we don't really care much for aquariums and stuff... ..We figured that South Beach was probably our best bet if we're looking for fun..but we don't want to spend TOO much money! We're both aware that we have to go to Miami with money, and ready to spend, but I'm not going to spend $15 for a Cuba Libre, or a Piña Colada...ridiculous! So, my question is..aside from South Beach, where can we go to have similar fun without spending like a celebrity? We want beaches, lounges, and all around fun. & also; any tips for this roadtrip? what to bring, what not to bring, what to keep in mind once we arrive to Miami... It's a little ahead I know, but I don't make enough money at my job to start saving a month before the trip - i gotta start now thanks! moreResolved Question: Beach Wedding in NYC?

I live in an NYC apartment, I am a block away from Central park and Riverside Park. Which would be best with children, Usually ages 15 and up, but sometimes 3-5 years old. Which would be best on the beach in the Summer. Thank you in advanceI am a huge Dog Whisperer fan moreResolved Question: Spring Break situation (long, sorry)?
So here's the story, and it's a little long. I have two options to go to on spring break this year. One option is to go to New York City, and the other one is to go a small beach house with a few friends. Both options sound great, being that I've never been to NYC before, and it'd be a good opportunity to go. The other one, I've been to before. I love that place though, it's really quaint. And I love going. But here's the thing, I promised I would go to this beach house in October. Then me and my girlfriend, who has the relatives that own the house, broke up. But we're still very very good friends, and she still wants and doesn't mind if I tag along on this trip. And then the NYC situation, I could go with this girl who has been completely head over heals for me for the past 7 months or something...she offered, and I accepted. But then I realized that the trip to the beach was still on, and I could still go. But this girl, quite frankly, annoys the living poo out of me sometimes. And I'm worried that while we're up there, she'd try something on me...I don't know, I just get the feeling. And she already thinks that I'm going to go, because she doesn't know about the beach. And I told her yes too, but I don't know which one to choose! I'm thinking I should go to the beach because technically I promised that first... HELP ME CHOOSE??Things are fine between us, it's a best friend relationship despite the breakup. moreResolved Question: Any ideas for a fun, family vacation for Spring Break?
Good day all. We are a young couple (in our mid 30's) with two boys, ages 13 and 7. We are just looking for some fun family vacation ideas for our Spring Break this year. We only get to do this once a year. We have frequently traveled to NYC, and would like a different scene this year. Please keep in mind, we live 40 minutes from Orlando and 30 from Daytona Beach, so Disney and beaches wouldn't be considered vacation for us. Been there many times. We are looking at DC and maybe a Bahamas cruise, but we are open to suggestions. We don't really enjoy the camping thing and big cities are OK. We also have a finicky teenager so activities are good. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Dobermann or Staffordshire Bull Terrier?
I live in an NYC apartment, I have central park a block away from me, and lots of space to run around in a short walk away. Which is better with kids ages 3-15. He listens to acoustic indie music that I've never heard of. He's going to art school in NYC and wanted to do film but now wants to become a graphic artist. He's always wearing MTV/American Apparel t shirts, a Gap military jacket, a scarf, skinny jeans, and Converse and he claims to have his own "style." He has a beard. He swears by his Macbook Pro and has an interest in graffiti and all around "urban" art. He takes black and white pictures. Some people think he's gay but I doubt it, he's just kind of feminine and hasn't had a steady girlfriend. He doesn't have a job but he has a lot of nice things. He's always making music/movies/random stuff in Photoshop and saying that it sucks but at the same time suggests that he's really talented. He participates in musical theater. He was voted "biggest gossip" at our high school. Instead of going to the beach for senior week like everyone else, he wants to go camping. He was Pac Man for halloween. He also really likes Where The Wild Things Are and Juno. BUT, he DOESN'T wear sweaters or short shorts or glasses, drink PBR, smoke, do crack, wear makeup, ride a fixed gear bike, have weird or dyed hair, or have any piercings or tattoos. He is never seen with neon colors and he doesn't really stand out much at all. He's not very ironic and he stays pretty clean. He also hangs out with people who I know aren't hipsters, but they are kind of annoying. ...So, I'm not sure. What do you think? Is he a hipster? moreResolved Question: Rottweiler, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, or English Bulldog?

I am desperately trying to find where to live next.. I am from Chicago, lived in NYC and here for a number of years, and actually was pretty successful in both. However, as I get older, I tend to grow towards my hippie roots and find myself looking for somewhere beautiful and peaceful. I am an artistic guy, and need to find somewhere that coincides with my ideal lifestyle - I like all seasons, and am not attached to anything. I am thinking somewhere coastal, but nothing metropolitan. Somewhere where I can walk to the forest, hang out at the beach, and not have to worry about making a bunch of money to survive. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks moreResolved Question: What is Long Beach in NYC like?

My friend and I are planning a road trip after we graduate (2011). The problem is, we can't decide on where to go. Here's what we do know: We want the trip to be around a week or so, maybe longer. We want to go east (from iowa - whether it be northeast to michigan or southeast to NC or anywhere inbetween). We don't want to go anywhere stereotypical - no miami beach, no NYC, etc. My questions are: What are some places that you've been to that you would recommend? Quirky tourist attractions, good places to eat, events, etc. What are some tips you may have to be prepared and plan everything right? What are some things to take (besides the obvious - like a spare, jumper cables, etc.)? I know this can vary a lot, but what would you guess this would cost? I'm already figuring $600-$700 for gas (hoping prices don't go up, I drive a cavalier), and we're going to try and budget with hotels. Thank you for any snippet of information you can give me! moreVoting Question: Ideas for places to go?

Anyone have some advice for me? moreResolved Question: Why do people make so much fun of New Jersey?
I don't understand! Why do people hate New Jersey? I live there. Yes, we have our bad towns. But that's not the whole state! Where I live, I can't think of another town that is better! Sure, we avoid people a lot. But that's because so many of us commute to the city, and we see so many people there a day and we just walk right by! We aren't "unfriendly". And the tanned brunettes that do crazy things at the beach on tv are totally false. I've never, ever seen such a thing. Nor do we have a Boston accent. No one I have ever heard in that lives here has said "Joisey". And we're not poor drivers eithers. We're just diverse. Those who commute to NYC, are agressive drivers. Others, are soft. Before people draw a conclusion about New Jersey, they should actually set foot there and see how nice it is. moreTop Nyc Beaches Links
