My sister is coming from Barcelona Spain and we want to make a road-trip... I was thinking driving to New Orleans, I've heard is a great city but I would love to stop in different cities... A friend told me Saint Augustine is gorgeous but I will like more options... ;) I also heard Savannah in Georgia is very pretty... I do not mind get out of route... All I know is that by the time we are driving back we are going to stop in Orlando... I live in West Palm Beach :) I have one week!!! ... I moved to the US less than 3 years so I really don't know any places to go... HELP>>My sister is going to be here for 2 weeks, but I have to rent a car... 2 weeks will be too much... that's why I only have one week for a "long" road-trip... the next week I'll probably take her to Miami... About Saint Augustine... I love photography,,, so I like historical buildings and history... but I want a little bit of everything... Sun, pretty places for photos, nature, party, beach... is it too much :_(??? moreResolved Question: Hike to the beach with my friends?
I live approximately 250 miles away from Savannah, Georgia and was wondering if it would be realistically possible for a few friends and me (Ages: 16-17) to hike roadside (on roadways that have adequate space for pedestrians...no highways) from our town to a beach near Savannah while camping in areas along the way (such as public parks). I am mostly wondering if this is legal and safe and if you think it would be realistic to complete in less than one month over the summer. We would most likely bypass Atlanta. moreResolved Question: My English paper. Does it sound ok?
Spinning in the tea cups at Disney World, I couldn’t focus on just one thing so I looked at Katie sitting across from me. It was autumn 2004, and I was in fourth grade. My trip to Disney World was the most memorable experience of my life. We’ve been wanting to go there for a while and finally bought out tickets and got a hotel room. When we began driving I had no idea what was in store for me, who knew Ohio was so big?! We had to take two cars to fit all of us. I was me, my sister Savanna, my cousin Kaitlynne, Nana, Papa, Mom and my aunt and uncle. Two days in the car with your cousin and sister would sound miserable, bit it really wasn’t. We had fun on the was there. We stopped at Savannah, Georgia to take a picture because Savanna thought it was cool that there was a city that was the same name as hers. In South Carolina we went to the beach and collected seashells. There were houses down there that reminded me of Dr. Seuss’ drawings. They were abnormally shaped and seemed like cookie jars rather than houses. Just when we crossed the Florida border Katie, Savanna and I asked my mom almost every minute “are we there yet?!” At last we were! I saw the sign that said, “Walt Disney World, Where Dreams Come True” accompanied by Mickey Mouse and a bunch of palm trees! I couldn’t have been any more excited! We went to the front desks and checked in, and then we made our way to the Fantasia hotel. Our room was right by the huge statue of a ballerina and a toy soldier. We got right to the Magic Kingdom to see Cinderella’s castle and ride some rides. I saw Walt Disney’s statue of him and Mickey Mouse called “Partners” right when we walked it. Just seeing it was unforgettable. There, I met Alice, Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb from my all time favorite movie, Alice in Wonderland. Tweedle-Dee took out my hair and tied it up in a side pony, I was just laughing the whole time and my mom was taking pictures. Katie was talking to Alice, and Savanna was getting her picture with Tweedle-Dumb. That experience was one I’ll never forget. We took pictures with all of the Disney characters; I got their autographs and everything. We went to Epcot, which was really cool. There, we went to italy and Russia and all kinds of places in the World Showcase. The ride inside the Epcot ball was fun. Katie, Papa, mom and I went on the ride called “Mission Space” where you have to land your spaceship on Mars. It felt so real! It sucked me to the seat like a vacuum as we left Earth. We could move our heads or talk. Katie was the pilot and I was the communications manager, everyone had their own jobs on the spaceship. We got there in one piece and came back to Earth with a good report. When the ride was over my mom had to explain to Katie that we didn’t really go to Mars and we we’re just spinning extremely fast. Ever since then I go on every spinning ride when I go to amusement parks. At the Animal Kingdom we took a safari and saw all of the African animals in the wild. There were giraffes, zebras, hippos and even lions. I was afraid because there wasn’t anything keeping the animals from us, it was just open land. At Hollywood Studios we got to see Indiana Jones Live Stunt Spectacular. They were blowing up cars and running around the stage. I could feel the hot fire in my face, even in the audience. There were so many other rides I went on at Disney World, but I just can’t remember them all. This trip taught me to never let go of your childhood because you only have it once. Also, to live every second of your life with happiness. That’s why I cherish the memories I have from Disney World and it is my most memorable experience. That's the end. I got a B on it, so if anyone has any suggestions on hoe to revise it, that'd be cool (^-^) THANK YOU moreResolved Question: Are dogs allowed on Tybee Island, Georgia beaches?

SAVANNAH, Ga. – A 53-year-old man who told police he is secretly engaged to marry Miley Cyrus has been charged with attempting to stalk the teenage "Hannah Montana" star, who is filming a movie in the Savannah area. Tybee Island Police Chief Jim Price said Wednesday that Mark McLeod, 53, of Appling was arrested after Walt Disney Pictures security officers reported he had returned to the beachside movie set Sunday after police warned him to stay away in June. "He was asking for Miley and going up and knocking on some doors" of beach homes near the set, Price said. "The security guards recognized him. In fact, he went up to the security guards and asked them, 'Is Miley around?'" Wearing a yellow tank top and denim shorts so droopy that a deputy had to hold them up in back, McLeod appeared briefly before a Municipal Court judge at the Chatham County jail Wednesday afternoon. Judge Steven Scheer set bond for McLeod at $50,000, with conditions that he doesn't return to Tybee Island except for court appearances and he stays away from Cyrus and her family. "Do I make myself perfectly clear?" Scheer said to McLeod, who wore shackles around his wrists and ankles. "I got that. Yes, sir," replied McLeod, who also asked for the court to appoint him a lawyer. Police on Tybee Island, 12 miles east of Savannah, have been on the lookout for McLeod since he was arrested there June 22 on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction of a police officer. Price said officers arrested McLeod after he tried to breach a security perimeter around the movie set. A police report says McLeod told officers he had come to the beach "to be with Miley" and tried to head butt one of them when he was handcuffed. McLeod later told police he and the 16-year-old Cyrus "were supposed to be together and we couldn't stop it." Officer Warren Millikan wrote in his June report that McLeod claimed he'd met Cyrus 18 months earlier, that he'd sent her diamond rings and other gifts and that she had accepted his marriage proposal. The report said McLeod told police Cyrus' father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, approved of their relationship and that Miley Cyrus sent him "secret messages" through her TV show. The officer's report quoted McLeod as saying, "Our eyes met at her concert and we both knew. I walked straight through security and up to her bus. Bill Ray was standing there. He shook my hand and said you're the good man we've been praying for." Cyrus has been working on the movie "The Last Song" in coastal Georgia since mid-June. Filming is supposed to wrap up later this month. McLeod was released from jail in June after signing papers agreeing to return for a court appearance Sept. 1. Price said police obtained a warrant to charge him with criminal attempted stalking, a misdemeanor, after he came back to the island Sunday. McLeod has made no known threats to Cyrus, Price said, but the attempted stalking charge was warranted because "he's been warned by the police officers not to come back after the first arrest." Sheriff's deputies in Columbia County arrested McLeod at his home in Appling, 180 miles from where Cyrus is filming, Tuesday evening. He was transported Wednesday back to jail in coastal Chatham County. In March, the New York Daily news shot video of McLeod waiting in line at a book-signing appearance by Cyrus in Manhattan. "Hold me up. I'm a little bit nervous," said McLeod, shivering in a heavy coat and wool hat. "It's the first time I've ever, uh, actually been face to face with her," McLeod told the newspaper. "I talk to her a lot but it's kind of like I talk and she responds with pictures. It's just the way we communicate. I'm going to get her some flowers and I'm going to ask her to marry me." Yes this story is true. And it is bloody funny.wouldn`t you agree?Little Boy...... I bet she will. Cosmo..... I bet she wants to marry him!She probably believes he is the "one" too!! moreResolved Question: Speeding ticket. Please Help!?
After reading numerous amounts of information on speeding. I'm a bit confused. but here is my story. I live in Atlanta Georgia. My Best friend and I were going to Savannah Beach for vacation. Long story short. It was my first time ever driving 5 hrs straight non-stop. The speed limit was 70. For most of my trip I was going 80. I'm always either at or 10 over the speed limit. It had been a minute before I checked my speed because i was looking at the scenery and listening to music. I had realized I was going too fast. But before I could correct my speed I was pulled over by the cop in traffic of a different direction. He clocked me for 103 on the Radar. This has been my first ticket!! In 2 yrs. that I have been driving i've always been the safe one between anyone. I'm pretty much freaking out bc my ticket is 1159 $ plus court fees. I haven't told my mother yet about the ticket bc i feel as tho I should take responsibility. I have no problem w. paying the ticket bc I am the one who did the crime mistakenly. My question is at my age would I be able to keep my license for it being my first and LAST offense [bc I'm never in a hurry] and how much will my mothers insurance go up if she pays Cotton states insurance. I plan to work my arsenal off to earn ALL of the money even for the insurance. And also should I take traffic school before I go to court or wait to go to court and ask for traffic school?? Please help. Thank you.I also talked to the DMV person and they told me my License would be suspended for 6 months. But Is there a way for my mothers insurance not to go up or it not be effected since it was my first offense and some insurance people allow one free offense or something like that. And if the insurance is going to go up. can you give a guess-ta-mation? moreResolved Question: What to do in Savannah Georgia?

The other option is Florida but again I know nothing about the attractions there either. moreResolved Question: Are you considering going swimming near Tybee Island, Georgia this Summer?
What's truly chilling is the fact that the Pentagon has lost track of the mother of all weapons, a hydrogen bomb. The thermonuclear weapon, designed to incinerate Moscow, has been sitting somewhere off the coast of Savannah, Georgia for the past 40 years. The Air Force has gone to greater lengths to conceal the mishap than to locate the bomb and secure it. On the night of February 5, 1958 a B-47 Stratojet bomber carrying a hydrogen bomb on a night training flight off the Georgia coast collided with an F-86 Saberjet fighter at 36,000 feet. The collision destroyed the fighter and severely damaged a wing of the bomber, leaving one of its engines partially dislodged. The bomber's pilot, Maj. Howard Richardson, was instructed to jettison the H-bomb before attempting a landing. Richardson dropped the bomb into the shallow waters of Wassaw Slough, near the mouth of the Savannah River, a few miles from the city of Tybee Island, where he believed the bomb would be swiftly recovered. The Pentagon recorded the incident in a top secret memo to the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission. The memo has been partially declassified: "A B-47 aircraft with a [word redacted] nuclear weapon aboard was damaged in a collision with an F-86 aircraft near Sylvania, Georgia, on February 5, 1958. The B-47 aircraft attempted three times unsuccessfully to land with the weapon. The weapon was then jettisoned visually over water off the mouth of the Savannah River. No detonation was observed." Soon search and rescue teams were sent to the site. Wassaw Slough was mysteriously cordoned off by Air Force troops. For six weeks, the Air Force looked for the bomb without success. Underwater divers scoured the depths, troops tromped through nearby salt marshes, and a blimp hovered over the area attempting to spot a hole or crater in the beach or swamp. Then just a month later, the search was abruptly halted. The Air Force sent its forces to Florence, South Carolina, where another H-bomb had been accidentally dropped by a B-47. The bomb's 200 pounds of TNT exploded on impact, sending radioactive debris across the landscape. The explosion caused extensive property damage and several injuries on the ground. Fortunately, the nuke itself didn't detonate. The search teams never returned to Tybee Island, and the affair of the missing H-bomb was discreetly covered up. http://www.counterpunch.org/stclair05152009.html(what's a little harmless radioactivity, right?) Plutonium gets more dangerous as it ages. In addition, the bomb would contain other radioactive materials, such as uranium and beryllium. The bomb is also charged with 400 pounds of TNT, designed to cause the plutonium trigger to implode and thus start the nuclear explosion. As the years go by, those high explosives are becoming flaky, brittle and sensitive. The bomb is most likely now buried in 5 to 15 feet of sand and slowly leaking radioactivity into the rich crabbing grounds of the Wassaw Slough. If the Pentagon can't find the Tybee Island bomb, others might. That's the conclusion of Bert Soleau, a former CIA officer who now works with ASSURE, the salvage company. Soleau, a chemical engineer, said that it wouldn't be hard for terrorists to locate the weapon and recover the lithium, beryllium and enriched uranium, "the essential building blocks of nuclear weapons." What to do? Coastal residents want the weapon located and removed. " moreVoting Question: POLL: SO WHERE YA GOIN THIS SUMMER?

Hello all. I'm working on a novel and my character is going to visit family in S. Carolina. I'm not sure where to set it - I really only know Charleston and Myrtle Beach. Ideally, I'm thinking of a place like Savannah, Georgia. That would be perfect except it does need to be S. Carolina for a couple of reasons. Also, Savannah is so far from the nearest airport. So if you know of any nice, quaint, kind of upscale towns (or small cities - population under 15,000 or so) that are within about an hour - maybe an hour and a half of an airport, please let me know. Thank you very much! moreResolved Question: Best way to plan a one day trip?
I live in this little suburban town north of atlanta called norcross. Its really nice but from time to it gets a little boring and you just want to escape. So for spring break me and my friends wanted to do something fun but we didnt want to be stuck here. Every year we end up staying here. Even though we have fun, it would still be nice to change it up. A few weeks ago some friends invited us to go down to Panama City for SB. Of course I asked my mom and she said no because she is really strict and requires adult supervision at all times( but i dont blame her). So instead me and my friends were thinking that one day out of SB we should just save up our money and drive out of town somewhere for the day and hang out. I was thinking Savannah because its really close, they have nice beaches, and it will only be during the day time. What are your opinoins? do u think this is a good idea? where are some other fun, close places in georgia? moreResolved Question: where to stay and surf in Savannah?

I am a rising senior in high school and I am trying to decide where I want to go to college. I would like to stay in-state for a few years to get used to being away from home. I am 2nd in class rank, and I plan on staying there or moving up =) so I would like to go to a nice college, not one that is not very challenging. I would like to go into the medical or pharmaceutical field, also. And my final request for my college is that it have a beach!! So, somewhere in southern Georgia near a beach. Any suggestions? Thanks!!The in-state tuition is a plus, but I plan on applying for many scholarships. So, as long as it isn't a private school or anything, a neighboring state would do. moreResolved Question: If Bush spent us in to poverty, then can you please explain how?
spending almost another trillion on items such as this is any different? The few, and the key word few jobs that these will create will only last for a very very short term. Then its back to unemployment. The only difference is that we are a trillion more in debt to the Chinese. If you hated bushes spending, they why in the world would you want anyone to spend this much more? Just look what they are spending it on. And yes, this is as of today. President-elect Obama's transition team is promising that its $700 billion, or $850 billion, or $1 trillion, or whatever it now is "stimulus" won't include pork-barrel spending. They must not have talked to the nation's mayors, who recently responded to Mr. Obama's request to compile their priority list of "shovel-ready" projects. By all accounts, the $73 billion wish list may be the largest collection of parochial spending projects in American history. Strolling through the 800 pages, we found such beauties as: $1 million to upgrade the Los Angeles County Convention Center elevated "catwalk" for cameras and lighting; $350,000 for an Albuquerque, N.M., fitness center; $94 million for a parking garage at the Orange Bowl in Miami; $4.5 million for Gretna, Florida, to bottle water with recyclable bottles; a $35 million music hall of fame in Florissant, Missouri, and $3.1 million for a swimming pool in Tulsa. Oh, and desperate Santa Barbara, Calif., respectfully requests $80,000 for a tennis facility; Savannah, Georgia, would like to build a children's museum; Ventura, Calif., wants $6 million to renovate the beach at Surfers Point, and Durham, N.C., home of the Durham Bulls, wants to construct the first Minor League Baseball Hall of Fame. Dayton, Ohio, wants $1.5 million to reduce prostitution with education programs, and Ponce, Puerto Rico wants $5.7 million to improve its cruise ship terminal (which will create all of 60 jobs). We could go on. No doubt some of these proposals would enhance urban life, but then why can't the cities build them with their own money? Perhaps because the projects don't really measure up against more urgent local priorities. But when the federal taxpayer does the financing, everything suddenly becomes affordable. If Durham wants a tourist destination, how about hitting up Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, who did so well by the film "Bull Durham"? The other truth about most of these projects is that they don't come close to representing an economic "stimulus." They may put a few people to work for a while, albeit while taking money out of the private economy to pay for them. But the test for a useful public project should be whether it contributes to a net increase in productivity after accounting for that lost private investment. moreResolved Question: Has any great nation ever fallen without first being destroyed from within?

In my case couple of years back, CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA made me feel completely welcomed. And unfortunately I didn't get the best of service or treatment in MIAMI BEACH, a city I didn't know much about, even though I was living right next to it for three decades!!! It was not the worst at the beginning and it did get much better in subsequent months...I do have my praises about it as well. Does anyone know of a great gay friendly wedding planner in Georgia? there does not seem to be alot of info on gay savannah or gay georgia weddings. thanks!!! moreResolved Question: Savannah, Georgia.?
I'm going on a trip to see my boyfriends family in June or July. That may make this a little more easier. I'm not sure how long our stay is but does anyone know anything fun such as tours or attractions in Savannah? We might occasionally take a trip to the beach down in Florida or maybe just hit Tybee Island in Georgia. So, my question is... does anyone know of any sites or can anyone lists me alot of things to do.. [If you don't know don't answer just to get easy points I will report you.] moreResolved Question: Texas, Georgia, or Washington (state)?
My picks, from most to least favorite: 1. Texas! Go Lone Star State! 'Nuff said! 2. Georgia: jobs abounding in ATL. I don't necessarily like ATL, but I like the north GA mountains, the beaches, Savannah, and the most laid-back culture of south GA. Athens is a cool town, too. 3. Washington: Beautiful? Oh, yes! Plus, Seattle is a historic, happening place. I wouldn't mind living out there, except the cost of living is exhorbetant and the overall politics are too liberal. moreResolved Question: Texas, Georgia, or Kentucky?
My picks: First, Texas. Second, I think would be Colorado. Texas: some of the friendliest people anywhere; huge, thriving cities (D/FW, Austin, San Antonio, Houston,) great job market, eclecticism in Austin, history in San Antonio and Ft. Worth, beaches, mountains, prairies, deserts, corn nuggets, Houston Astros, a great state! And the women...wow! Georgia: still pretty girls, the ATL (don't want to live there, though.) Nice north GA mountains, true Southern hospitality in the south GA. Savannah is a beautiful city. Not a bad state! Kentucky, while beautiful, is no hotbed of economic growth and progessive thinking. The politicians have helped to prohibit growth and development. People are, by and large, guarded and frankly hateful (especially Louisville); small towns are very sheltered and closed off to "the outside." I'm a native who has NEVER felt comfortable or at home there/ moreResolved Question: I'm planning a trip to Savannah, Georgia - anything cool I should see?
Museums, restaurants, shops, hotels, sites, or anything interesting would be appreciated! I've never been to Savannah and it's kind of a cold time of year to go, so I'm looking for mainly indoor sites. Although, I am planning on walking on the beach if it isn't raining! moreResolved Question: Are there beaches with waves to surf in Savannah Georgia?

I'm looking for the nearest beach from Atlanta to go surfing. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Is anyone from Savannah Georgia I understiand there is a beach called TYbee ISland how isit there?
moreResolved Question: how close is Savannah, GA to the beach?
How close is Savannah, Georgia to the beach/ocean? My family and I want to go there for a vacation but we want to be close to the beach. Do you have to go to one of the islands to be close to the beach (Tybee and St.Simons)? If so how do you get to those islands? By boat or is there a bridge of some sort to get to them by car? Any info you can give will be greatly appreciated. moreTop Savannah Georgia Beaches Links
