Open Question: North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virginia?

Planning on moving, trying to escape the endless suburbs of South Florida... So I'm looking for a small scenic city with friendly people. Close to parks, zoos, theater, cultural center... Good place to raise children and reasonable cost of living. I like the look of Greenville, SC but I'm trying to find more options. I want a slower paced lifestyle where I don't have to drive through 45min of traffic to get to work. I don't want to live in the sticks either... Thanks for any suggestions!!! Open Question: Do we have an Islamic terrorism issue in America?

I don't mean that in a sarcastic way but what do you think? And I am asking all. The reason I ask and I am sure others wonder it seems to be. Just a FEW of the things I listed below. You can look them up. Are we afraid between us to even talk about it? There are an illegitimate terrorist associated organization which should be disbanded. But no one does. This can't be a good thing. Would we allow such a thing if it were against other races here or religions? On November 2009- 13 American Soldiers were killed and another 30 wounded at a horrific mass shooting at US Army installation, Ft Hood Texas. Ft Hood became a part of the battlefield in the war against Islamic totalitarianism and state sponsored terrorism. There have been those Islamic people who threatened us openly and still do and nothing was or is done. Has Our Country has become so paralyzed by political correctness that we have allowed a vile and determined enemy to openly say and do some of these things? This was not a “man caused disaster”. It is what it is, an Islamic jihadist attack. We have seen this before in history which ZI will show some but it seems to be getting worst now wvwn - remember when a SGT Hasan of the 101st Arborne Division (Air Assault) threw hand grenades and opened fire into his Commanding Officer’s tent in Kuwait. We have seen the foiled attempt of Albanian Muslims who sought to attack Ft Dix, NJ. We saw a young convert to Islam named Carlos Bledsoe travel to Yemen, receive terrorist training, and return to gun down two US Soldiers at a Little Rock, Arkansas Army recruiting station. We thwarted another Islamic terrorist plot in North Carolina which had US Marine Corps Base, Quantico as a target. What have we done with all these prevalent trends? Nothing. Is it some don't think we have an Islamic problem? Is that why? Is it we are to nice and don't want to hurt some people because of their roots? Is it because some feel this is justifed? We know that Major Hasan deliberately planned this episode; he did give away his possessions. He stood atop a table in the confined space of the Soldier Readiness Center shouting “Allahu Akhbar”, same chant as the 9-11 terrorists and those we fight against overseas in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of operation. (We do remember 9/11?) No one in leadership seems willing to sound the alarm for the American people; they are therefore complicit in any future attacks. Our Congress should suspend the insidious action to push vote on a preposterous and unconstitutional healthcare bill (which could be much better--and I am for national health care) and resolve the issue of “protecting the American people” don't you think? Or don't you see this as a problem?. More such incidents like in Dearborn Michigan, Boston Massachusetts, Dallas Texas, and Chicago Illinois should bear witness to the fact that we have an Islamic terrorism issue in America. But no one says those words. We have Saudi Arabia funding close to 80% of the mosques in the United States, one here in South Florida, Pompano Beach. Are we building churches and synagogues in Saudi Arabia? Are “Kaffirs” and “Infidels” allowed travel to Mecca? So much for peaceful coexistence between both sides. How do you feel about this one way street? Saudi Arabia is sponsoring radical Imams who enter into our prisons and convert young men into a virulent Wahabbist ideology….one resulting in four individuals wanting to destroy synagogues in New York with plastic explosives. Thank God the explosives were dummy. They are sponsoring textbooks which present Islamic centric revisionist history in our schools. Do you think we should recognize that there is an urgent need to separate the theo-political radical Islamic ideology out of our American society. Should We begin to demand surveillance of suspected Imams and mosques that are spreading hate and preaching the overthrow of our Constitutional Republic……that speech is not protected under First Amendment, it is sedition and if done by an American treason. Do you think there should not be some 30 Islamic terrorist training camps in America that has nothing to do with First Amendment, Freedom of Religion. The Saudis are not teaching we should be friends and any American political figure who believes such is delusional. When tolerance becomes a one way street it certainly leads to cultural suicide. We are on that street. I see many Liberals cannot be trusted to defend our Republic, because their sympathies obviously lie with their perceived victim, Major Nidal Malik Hasan. And thats not right. I make no apologies for these words, or anyone angered by them, I don't mind talking to even those from those countries. I would like to hear how you feel , maybe you have gone to Ft Hood and look into the eyes of the real victims. The tragedy at Ft Hood Texas did not have to happen. It didn't. Nor other places it did. Consider now the feelings of tWell Blumenn, it's not my version, those are facts already put out and confirmed. What do you see as untrue? You mean you don't see a question, it is there for those who can read. You didn't have to read the history here--do you never read any history on answers?--odd indeed. Your opinion is welcome but why the anger? Is it hard for you to answer a question which you may have another view and say why..... like a reasonable person would? more

Voting Question: southern east coast road trip ideas!?

Ok here is the situation...I am planning a road trip with two friends and my girlfriend. We are all seniors in high school and figure It would be fun to take a road trip before we all branch off in life. We have one 18 year old so we can get hotels and other stuff that most youngans can't get. We are going this february vacation from school from about feb. 20 to march 3 for as many days as we can go. We travelling from up north in the new england state of vermont and we are looking to travel down south somewhere like south or north carolina or virginia, maybe even florida however we were thinking it may be too far of a drive. I am not looking to go on a tour or visit monuments and state parks to see the scenery. We are looking to do more things like beaches and amusement parks or attractions like that. Entertaining, exciting things for a teenager to experience. In other words we want to party and have fun the whole road trip. We are also looking to get a nice tan and go somewhere warm for a change. so, please give me some good ideas for my teenage road trip. Also we were interested in going to the coast to beaches like virginia beach or myrtle beach, but Im not sure if you can swim in the ocean in February down there...any thoughts im stuck??? more

Yesterday we were walkin on the beach on vacation in South Carolina and washed up on the beach was something that look very odd. It look kinda like an evenly chopped carrot with one hole in each slice. It was about 7in long and each egg (slice) was about 2 inches long long this way and about half an inch thick. Each egg was like a little orange hexagon. And there was about ten attached to a....string like thing. I wish i could show a picture but i cant find one. Resolved Question: Can someone be sued for continually filing false and malicious charges against you?

My fiance has been falsely and maliciously charged for trespassing by her ex-husband's enthusiastic to please replacement wife. He does nothing to stop her, and in fact enjoys it. And based on their past ten years of history I presume he may be telling her what to do so he can remain looking like an upstanding and good guy. The false charges stem from my fiance returning a few personal items belonging to her 17 yr. old son, (underwear, toothbrush, etc.) from his 5 day court-ordered visit with her over the Christmas holiday. Before catching her flight back to South Carolina that night, she placed her son's forgotten items in a mailbox a few hundred feet away on the edge of the state-owned road where he lives with the father. It was too late to call him that night, so she called him the next day to tell him where he could find the items. His step-mother overheard the phone conversation, and immediately started threatening trespassing charges, which she followed up on later. The Commonwealth's Attorney decided the charge was frivolous, and didn't want to prosecute, but the step-mother insisted that my fiance be charged, (can she really be powerful enough to override a commonwealth's attorney's decision?) The step mother has even perjured herself early on by telling the magistrate that she saw my fiance come down the drive-way, and she did no such thing. How could she see her come down the driveway if she was talking to her on the phone 400 miles away? Now, my fiance has been told by her lawyer that she has to leave her home in South Carolina, and drive over seven hours back to Virginia to accept the charges, and possibly be thrown in jail until the trial is held in April sometime. Her lawyer says authorities may force her stay in Virginia til the trial is held. Since she's lived in Myrtle beach for the last five years, she knows no one in VA., has nowehre to stay, can't afford to rent a second VA. residence, and will lose her job, and therefore her home if she can't be here to go to work. What can she do to first of all, to beat this bogus charge, and not lose her job at home, as well as her livelihood? And secondly, is there some kind of lawsuit or charge that she can make against the step-mother to keep her from ruining her constitutionally guaranteed life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and her very way of maintaining a living? This has grown and festered over the last nine years since their divorce to the point where it would make a good movie of the week on the Lifetime channel. But for now, she's just trying to keep from losing everything she owns because of having to answer to false and malicious charges. Help! more

I have always thought about moving close to the beach sometime within my life. I dont have to worry about college money anymore b/c the National Guard gave me a $72,000 scholarship to any supporting college nationwide. what isnt used out of that is mine to keep and i will also be getting about 7 to 8 thousand in a few months then another 7 to 8 thousand in 3 years. I also work with my dad who is a general foreman for a company contracted with Duke Power on the east coast making $10 an hour and getting paid weekly $300 until this summer when i go to my AIT training where I will accumulate another estimate of about 3,4,maybe 5 thousand more. so I will already have PLENTY of money to use at only 20 years old. I hope to get a good paying job in the technical field..perhaps avionics b/c im an apache attack helicopter mechanic in the SCArmy National Guard (awaiting AIT this june). so my question is how far can that much get me? I DO NOT WANT A BEACH FRONT HOME!!!!!! I just want something maybe a mile or so away...far enough to where i dont have to pay insanely ridiculous prices for homeowners insurance, property taxes/insurance, and all that. Open Question: I am so confused about college majors. What should I do?

I am currently taking a break from college due to the loss of my scholarship. I am currently paying back the stafford loan I took out for my first year, which is only 3500 dollars. I'm hoping that I can find some way to pay for school either this fall or summer. That aside, I am obsessing over my next concern... what to actually major in. I have many interests ranging from Physics (preferably astrophysics) to philosophy and law, and nearly everything in between. Educationally, I have no end goal in life. I plan on taking classes off and on for the as long as I can. I say this because i model my actions and life after Renaissance ideals. I believe in physical fitness and athleticism, a well rounded education encompassing the liberal arts, world culture, and the sciences, and a love for classical arts (architecturally, artistically, and musically). Now the problem... where do I start? I know I need a good major that will give me a solid foundation after college, meaning the financial stability to enjoy life with my fiance (well, by then wife) and continue educating myself both independently and institutionally. My fiance's Dad is a college professor and holds the same ideals I do. He holds 3 Bachelor degrees, 2 Master's Degrees, (and is working on his third), and a Doctorate. He informed me that I need not major in the Liberal arts field because jobs were scarce in those fields. This still leaves me with a question: What is marketable? What major will get me a job fast? I'm not worried about making a butt load of money right out college. I simply want to know that when I get out, there will be positions waiting to be filled. I'd really like to become a high school teacher, preferably in either English, Literature, Or Chemistry. My end goal career-wise is to either become a high school teacher, or, if I major in Chemistry, move on to become a graduate professor in astrological chemistry. This leads me to my final concern (I promise I'm almost done, lol). My fiance works in the media. More specifically, she is a producer. Jobs in her field aren't common across the continental U.S. What am I to do if there are no openings anywhere around openings in her field? Let's say that when I graduate from college (and for example's sake with a degree in high school education) there are no openings in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Well I can only find an opening in Georgia, but there are no TV stations hiring there. What happens then? I apologize for the length, but I am extremely stressed about this. Spinning in the tea cups at Disney World, I couldn’t focus on just one thing so I looked at Katie sitting across from me. It was autumn 2004, and I was in fourth grade. My trip to Disney World was the most memorable experience of my life. We’ve been wanting to go there for a while and finally bought out tickets and got a hotel room. When we began driving I had no idea what was in store for me, who knew Ohio was so big?! We had to take two cars to fit all of us. I was me, my sister Savanna, my cousin Kaitlynne, Nana, Papa, Mom and my aunt and uncle. Two days in the car with your cousin and sister would sound miserable, bit it really wasn’t. We had fun on the was there. We stopped at Savannah, Georgia to take a picture because Savanna thought it was cool that there was a city that was the same name as hers. In South Carolina we went to the beach and collected seashells. There were houses down there that reminded me of Dr. Seuss’ drawings. They were abnormally shaped and seemed like cookie jars rather than houses. Just when we crossed the Florida border Katie, Savanna and I asked my mom almost every minute “are we there yet?!” At last we were! I saw the sign that said, “Walt Disney World, Where Dreams Come True” accompanied by Mickey Mouse and a bunch of palm trees! I couldn’t have been any more excited! We went to the front desks and checked in, and then we made our way to the Fantasia hotel. Our room was right by the huge statue of a ballerina and a toy soldier. We got right to the Magic Kingdom to see Cinderella’s castle and ride some rides. I saw Walt Disney’s statue of him and Mickey Mouse called “Partners” right when we walked it. Just seeing it was unforgettable. There, I met Alice, Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dumb from my all time favorite movie, Alice in Wonderland. Tweedle-Dee took out my hair and tied it up in a side pony, I was just laughing the whole time and my mom was taking pictures. Katie was talking to Alice, and Savanna was getting her picture with Tweedle-Dumb. That experience was one I’ll never forget. We took pictures with all of the Disney characters; I got their autographs and everything. We went to Epcot, which was really cool. There, we went to italy and Russia and all kinds of places in the World Showcase. The ride inside the Epcot ball was fun. Katie, Papa, mom and I went on the ride called “Mission Space” where you have to land your spaceship on Mars. It felt so real! It sucked me to the seat like a vacuum as we left Earth. We could move our heads or talk. Katie was the pilot and I was the communications manager, everyone had their own jobs on the spaceship. We got there in one piece and came back to Earth with a good report. When the ride was over my mom had to explain to Katie that we didn’t really go to Mars and we we’re just spinning extremely fast. Ever since then I go on every spinning ride when I go to amusement parks. At the Animal Kingdom we took a safari and saw all of the African animals in the wild. There were giraffes, zebras, hippos and even lions. I was afraid because there wasn’t anything keeping the animals from us, it was just open land. At Hollywood Studios we got to see Indiana Jones Live Stunt Spectacular. They were blowing up cars and running around the stage. I could feel the hot fire in my face, even in the audience. There were so many other rides I went on at Disney World, but I just can’t remember them all. This trip taught me to never let go of your childhood because you only have it once. Also, to live every second of your life with happiness. That’s why I cherish the memories I have from Disney World and it is my most memorable experience. That's the end. My boyfriend and I have to drive his grandmother up to Marion, Virginia(Close to Bristol,Tennessee) this weekend(leaving tomarrow, the 18th) We are driving from good ol' Charleston, South Carolina and to be honest, i've never seen more than an inch of snow in my life! haha and certainly have never driven in it. Same with my boyfriend. I looked up the weather for Virginia this weekend and they are supposed to get snow and it probably wont be more than 5inches but thats alot for me and i'm just wondering what are the basics of driving in snow? we'll be taking the interstate as much as possible but i know there are mountains around where we are heading. Im not used to mountains either because we are near the beach and its just flat. My boyfriend just wants to "wing it" but i am taking all the precautions i can to get us there and home safely. In the mail, I got a notice (from the unemployment office) saying what I had claimed through the restaurant and what the restaurant had claimed for me (tips) didnt add up for about 3 or 4 weeks. Since the restaurant is no longer in business,(Phillips World Cusine Buffett) I have no one to go to to dicuss these discrepancies. Am in in a position to file again for benefits now and have the amounts owed deducted from my new checks? I am in South Carolina, Myrtle Beach to be exact and we have alot of turn-over in restaurants here. I'm thinking about moving to Charleston in March and I'm wondering if I can find a decent bar-tending gig. I'm 34 and have been a high volume bartender for 8 years. I know that most cities are going for hot female bartenders right now but I'm wondering if that's the case in Charleston. I also would like to know if there are any community colleges that offer a degree in hospitality/tourism management. I'm 21 years old and I've discovered recently that I love to travel. I want to travel the country (USA) I've lived in the same state most of my life & went to college 2 hours from home in Pennsylvania for 2 years. I've always since I was 9 wanted to live in the South. I'm not sure why but it's been what I've always wanted to do. I'm getting the opportunity to do this now I'm living in South Carolina & finishing up college here. Here's the issue - I'm in Myrtle Beach there are VERY few southerners at the university I'm attending everyone is from NY, NJ, CT, PA. It's crazy I've seen more NJ license plates then I've seen SC. This is not my idea of a "southern experience" at all....I was hoping to meet people with thick southern accents, who have morals, who are friendly, and "country like" if I wanted to meet northerners I'd have stayed in NJ not traveled 14hrs from home!! I'm a bit discouraged I'm thinking of picking up and going to Tennessee or somewhere else "south" like Georgia....is this a bad idea with 3 semesters left of college??
