Extended Stay Hotels Questions asked
Open Question: living in a hotel....illegal? wrong? or brilliant?
So my fiance and I have decided the best way to save money AND be on our own at the same time is to live in a hotel because the apartments in Washington state are absolutely ridiculously high for a one bedroom apartment....however, I am not sure if it's legal or not...I NEED to stay close to my work. Close enough so I can walk there and back. I work in Everett/Snohomish County and the closest hotel we could find was the Days Inn....is it illegal to live there? I mean, do they have extended stays? Do they charge extra for extended stays? If so, how much? For a one bedroom with a queen sized bed, is $82.50 or something along those lines which is only $350 (give or take a few bucks) to stay there per month....we can afford THAT but we CANNOT afford anything above $400....if they charge extra for extended stay, how much more do they charge? and thats IF the Days Inn has extended stays....do they? Thanks!!
moreOpen Question: Are there any cheap extended stay or weekly stay hotels or motels in Massachusetts?
I live in South Dakota and I want to return to my home state of Massachusetts in few months or so. I have bad credit and no job set up in advance, but I'll have a good bit of money saved up. I did the same thing when I came out here and I stayed in a motel called Value Place and it only cost me $179 a week. But Mass doesn't have one of those. I figured maybe someone knew of something similar out there,

I keep seeing advertisements for: Extended Stay hotels, a prescription laxative, Delta Airlines, and an anti-meth PSA.
So, my advertisements say that I'm a constipated meth-head and business traveler.
moreOpen Question: Five months old, 1600 miles, Please :) ?
We are going to South Carolina from Ohio to see my husband graduate basic training when she is 5 months old. I am def doing that part, but from there he goes to Oklahoma for AIT.. I was planning on driving him there, (him driving lol) but I just found out I can't drive him, it will take too long. The ENTIRE trip will be 25 hours. I would stay in OK for 6 weeks in an extended stay hotel. I would love to go somewhere new and see my hubby on weekends. Of course I would make frequest rest stops. She is exclusively breastfed also. I would fly but I would have to pay for a rental when I got there.
Would it be irresponsible, in your opinion, for me to travel 1600 miles with a 5 month old? I really want to. I love road trips. I can't directly speak with hubby and i just learned he cant drive us... I heard the sunsets in OK are amazing. Any help, thanks!!!! ♥

moreVoting Question: okay, we got a _____ living in our neighborhood, how do we get rid of her?
okay, due to the economic crisis we had or are having, I can hardly tell, we are stuck in a hotel for a little. Around back of the building, away from the office, is a hooker. Okay, now she has business ALL DAY. The johns come to our door because apparently, she used to live in this room. WE ARE TIRED OF IT! All day, about four Johns come here asking for the girl around back, so we threaten to call the cops. We call the cops, they go back there, and they don't do anything about it because she claims that she is running a catering business back there with her small oven and accessories. The only catering she does it to men, and women, and don't get me started on what her son does. Since the cops won't do anything, we contact the office. Now here is where it gets crazy.
The Assistant Manager is a John to her, and makes sure she doesn't have to pay but half her rent. He is the one that goes around, since this is an Extended Stay, telling people that they have to either pay rent or get out in 15 minutes. He skips her door, even though she has not payed rent in three or four days.
A few months ago, she was doing her thing in the other building and the cops arrested her. Instead of taking her to jail over Prostitution, she ratted out like five of our friends, that did nothing that we know of. Each went to jail for like two years over charges of a recent burglary in the area that they were with us the entire time at the park when the things happened.
Now, we are tired of it, and no matter what we do, it seems that if she turns it around or she is screwing EVERY Police Officer and Manager within a hundred mile radius. HOW DO WE GET HER OUT?Why would I do that? I am 14 year old MALE
And to tell you the truth, I actually like it here with my family, besides the JOHNS
We have done all we can about telling the Johns, but none speak ENGLISH, well, the woman who knocked on our door just a minute ago did

Will Somebody Please Help Me? This is very serious and I'm not a "troll".?
It's long, but please bare with me. On Monday, I am planning on running away from home. My family has been struggling financially for years now and my parents have been having severe marital problems. They've said that they would get a divorce if they could afford it. I just can't take the constant yelling and screaming anymore and I've been very depressed and stressed for a while. I only have a bike and $250 on a debit card. I couldn't afford to buy myself a car and I could not get a job for the summer. I am 19 going on 20, so the police can't force me to go back home if I'm caught. I'm mainly worried about surviving forever on just a bike and $250 on a card. The majority of my extended family are dead or are too old for me to live with. I don't really have any close friends I could stay with either. How will I continue to meet my basic needs, like food/drink, clothing, shelter, and hygiene? Are there any free hotels? I'm considering just telling my parents that I'm going for a bike ride and just never come back. I live in New Jersey and I'll just ride until I'm many states away from home. I really need some help because I am DEAD set on doing this because I REALLY can't take living at home anymore. Thanks to everyone who responds.
moreVoting Question: extending brazil visa?
I am currently in Brazil. A tourist visa is valid for 90-days but you are able to stay in the country for a maximum of 180-days in a one year period, for example you leave then return after visiting another country.
Do I have to wait 90 days before I can re-enter?
Can I only extend my 90-day visa to a 180-day visa if I NEED to stay in the country, for example, matters with the law, if urgent medical attention in required immediately, etc etc, ?
The reason I need to be in Brazil after my 90 days is my Mum has planned a holiday here to visit me, I am in South America for a year, and her flights, our hotels, everything, are booked and ready in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, many many place!
Please help!

moreResolved Question: Should I change my ticket to see my bf?
I'm going to see my bf next week and I haven't seen him in a couple months. I scheduled it on bad timing because he has Army drill for 3 of the 6 days I'm coming! He talked to his sargeant and I can come watch him train but he'll be having to sleep outside in the fields....I'll be by myself for 3 nights in a hotel room! Ugh!!
He told me to extend my trip but I can't. I'm so pissed, of all days I have to come 3 days will be wasted and I can't be with him. Should I pay the $150 fee to change and reschedule my ticket? What do you think? Should I just stay and watch him train and sleep by myself instead?
>_<!!!I won't see him for a few months...I do have the money but I'm a little stingy and I like to save money. Yeah he's worth it haha...
moreResolved Question: Scottish Terrier on an extended road trip yes or no?
Two of my girlfriends and I are going on a road trip around Australia in a coupe of years and need a small traveling companion. We were thinking a Scottish Terrier but so far haven't been able to find any info on traveling with them, we would prefer a female dog as they tend often to be more relaxed.
We will be living in a camper van or RV for the year and so will not be needing to stay in hotels or use airlines. We would be purchasing the dog as a puppy so it will hopefully deal better with traveling and also be easier to train. We are all animal lovers and have all owned large and small dogs before and all have lots of spare time and energy.
Is a Scotti a suitable dog for this trip?
moreResolved Question: Is the schengen visa expires when my program ends?
My study program ends in 2monthes, but I want to spend another month travelling around Europe with a local friend. When I went to italian consulate applying 90 days tourism visa, they asked me for hotel reservation and invitation letter from my friend during that extra month of self travelling. In order to at least get the schengen visa, I changed my return flight when the program ends. I'm worried about whether they will expire my visa in 2 monthes instead of 90 days. If it's true, can I apply the visa again with my friend's invitation letter later to extend my staying up to 90days or longer? Thanks a lot!
moreVoting Question: Does this sound like I would be eligible for Unemployment?
I started working for a hotel a little over a year ago. I originally worked the day shift but then switched to the night audit (third shift) when we got a new GM, about 3 months ago. He is HORRIBLE at his job. Things never seem to get done and everyone walks all over him. To get to my point, our power went off about a month ago and the front door lock stopped working. It hasn't worked since and Im a 24 year old woman sitting here all by myself at night....completely alone. I would have never taken this position if there wasn't a lock on the door like there has always been.I keep asking about the lock and he just keeps telling me different things like, we are waiting to hear back from corporate, or we are waiting on a part. I dont want to wait anymore. To top things off He lets crazies stay here who I dont feel safe with. I have voiced my concern about a particular guest that we have kicked out in the past, before he was GM, who came back under his management. I have told him I don't feel safe with him as a guest but he basically just ignored the situation and keeps letting him extend his stay. Im not trying to sound overdramatic ,but the hotel is in small city that I would definately not recommend walking outside at night by yourself.
So back to my question, do you think this is grounds that I will be eligible for unemployment? I did some research and I found that someone who quit their job could be eligible if there are "hazardous or dangerous" situations. I don't feel safe here and I can't live off of nothing. I know how the job market is and Im worried about how long it would take to find another job but I dont want to be scared coming into work anymore. Any feedback would be great.
moreResolved Question: ASPCA told me to euthanize my dog, help?
My 4yr old daschador, (rescued 3 years ago from shelter after living there for 3 months) has severe separation anxiety to the point of harming himself. He has chewed through the wire and plastic crates and letting him roam the house has resulted in the loss of furniture, window coverings, walls, flooring, etc. We've gone through 2 rounds of Clomicalm with mild behavior modification (we could've done more) with no positive results. Companion dogs do not help. He digs out of fenced yards.
We are living in a hotel while our new home is built and he has flipped out. While we were packing up and selling our old home he became so upset that he stopped eating and lost 7lbs in 5wks. He was nursed back to health but our vet warned us that the extended hotel stay would do him in. It has...he has become lethargic and looks depressed. Yesterday he just inflicted $1200 worth of damage to our room in less than 45 minutes while we stepped out for breakfast and the manager has asked that we remove him.
We have tried to find a new home for him, one that comes with a homebound companion, but have had no luck. We called rescue groups, including the humane society and ASPCA and were told that he is "unadoptable" and therefore should be put down. We can't do that, it is just too hard to consider. I am considering getting the ProSelect Empire crate (the manager said that would be acceptable) and re-training him. I also realize that I should get him more exercise.
Does anyone have any suggestions to keep him from destroying my beautiful new home? Euthanizing him is just to painful to consider, despite what the experts are telling me. Help, please! We had him at our previous home from Aug '07 to May '10, and started the packing process in March '10. He goes to the dog park every Sunday and doggie day camp (he loves the ladies!) every Tuesday and Thursday. He is pooped out after his adventures but still attempts to get out of the house when we leave. We are trying to get to him into the behaviorial program at Texas A&M University though one of our local behaviorists said he is incurable. We did the basic level obedience class at Petsmart, and then had private lessons with the trainer. He learned basic good manners but the trainer couldn't find an effective technique to overcome the separation anxiety the dog exhibited. We've been working on him for 3 years.
Yes, I know he's a mutt, but his breeders charged his original owner $250 for this "designer" breed. He's yellow Lab/Dachshund mix (mom was the Lab) and stands about 20" tall and weighs 25lbs.

moreResolved Question: How much does Extended Stay America cost to stay for their monthly rate?
I've looked everywhere trying to find their monthly rate. I know they have daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly rates, but I can't only find the daily rate. Extended stay hotels like this usually have a lower priced rate for their monthly stays, but for the damn life of me I cannot find it.
moreResolved Question: Should I be concerned about my girlfriend's male friends?
I am basically a one woman man. That includes female friends. My female friend is my girlfriend. I do not have all these friends of the opposite sex that are Platonic or said to be Platonic when she asks me if they are. I simply do not have any other female friends besides her. She, on the other hand, as several men friends. She has a few that live near her. In order to simplify I need to address them one at a time.
My GF has a male friend who she is friends with his sisters. He lives out of state and is visiting his family in the old neighborhood. I thought he might have come down for a few days, a week or two. Now with three weeks and he's still around the old neighborhood it appears as if he is back home for an extended stay. As some of his kids appear to be school age, I think this sounds kind of strange. I was picking up my GF for a date on Saturday night last weekend. My GF asked him how his wife was doing and he said "she's at the movies." He and my GF proceeded to talk for another 15 minutes with her giggling at everything he says.
The other night she was babysitting his kids and I sent her a text asking if this guy was married. She text me back "are you kidding?" then called me a little upset.
When I saw them talking I swear it seemed like there was some chemistry between the two of them.
Do you think it is a little strange that a wife would leave her husband and kids to go to the movies when she is visiting his family on a Saturday night?
My girlfriend tells me that she is a godmother to some of his kids. She grew up with him in the neighborhood and she knows his sister.
He had a cookout last week and I think I heard someone say that the wife was not there for the cook out either. But my girlfriend was there with him at his cookout with the kids.
She has travelled out of state and brought her nieces to visit him. She babysits his kids and has them stay with her at an area hotel.
In my family godparents are usually family members. My godmother and godfather are my aunt and uncle. I am nice to my neighbors but I keep my distance as far as getting involved with their families.
Am I being paranoid if it seems like this guy could be a rival for my girlfriends affections? She is a godmother to at least one of his kids. Whenever they are together his wife seems to disappear from the scene.
moreVoting Question: How can I make my extended stay hotel room more "homey?"?
I will be here for a little over 60 days and I hate feeling like I am in a hotel for that long. The room is big & comfortable, it has a kitchen, with all the regular amenities of home, but I'm just in need of suggestions that will add a personal touch to the room. Would it be strange if I brought my own bedding?
moreResolved Question: What do you think Obama ordering art classes, bingo, and fresh veggies for detained illegals?
The Houston Chronicle has reported the details of an internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement email, that though seem laughable, have been confirmed by an ICE official. The email lists changes which have been ordered at several immigration detainment centers…changes that will make the facilities seem more like extended-stay hotels than jails.
Beth Gibson, ICE's senior counselor to Assistant Secretary John Morton confirmed the changes, and reports that much of the new policy will be implemented within the next 30 days at detainment centers from California to New Jersey.
Gibson defended the changes, saying: “When people come to our custody, we're detaining them to effect their removal. It's about deportation. It's not about punishing people for a crime they committed.”
The changes include:
-hanging plants
-free movement for detainees
-longer visiting hours
-replacing guards with “unit managers”
-allowing detainees to wear their own clothing
-email access
-free phone service
-dance classes
-movie nights
-art classes
-cooking classes
-tutoring and computer training
-self-serve beverage stations
-fresh vegetable bars
In addition to the new amenities, ICE also plans to reduce or even eliminate pat-down searches, which raises particular concern for Tre Rebstock, president for Local 3332, the ICE union in Houston.
Rebstock told the Houston Chronicle: “Our biggest concern is that someone is going to get hurt.”
Rebstock continued: “My grandparents would have loved to have bingo night and a dance class at the retirement home they were in when they passed away, but that was something we would have had to pay for. And yet these guys are getting it on the taxpayers' dime.”

moreVoting Question: Temporary housing in Fort Knox/Louisville?
I am marrying my fiancee in just over 2 weeks. He is a soldier stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Because the Army is the way it is, the soonest we could get on base housing would be 6 months. I cannot stay with him in the barracks, even though we will be married. The only temporary housing we have found has a minimum of 3 months. We will only need it for 1 month. I will have to return to Texas to work after that. We did find EXTREMELY sketchy extended stay hotels on the south side of Louisville. We didn't feel safe there. Does anybody know of anything that would work? We looked on Craiglist.com to no real solution. My fiancee refuses to do any roommate situation for our first month of marriage. We are looking at spending well over $1500 for just one month! And that's on top of my rent I'll be paying for my place in Texas. I'm a teacher and he is an enlisted soldier. Any credible suggestion on what to do would be helpful. Thanks!

I am going to an extended stay hotel for a 10 days and I was wondering could I use my Linksys modem for Wi-fi? I don't want to pay the $5 per stay fee. This hotel has two data ports in each room and it would be nice if I could use it to hook up to their wireless network.

moreResolved Question: What do you think of my story so far? (not really long)?
This is the first draft of my story so far, so sorry if there are any mistakes. I would love to hear your thoughts. Any tips or advice would be appreciate. Harsh criticism is preferred.
I run blindly, my unbuttoned shirt flapping, and my shaggy brown hair blowing in my eyes blinding me, as scalding tears pour down my face.
"NO!," I can't think of Cail, I have to run. Vincent could realize he'd escaped any second. I have to get out of the hotel and find a place to hole up in until dawn. Running down the hall, I'd walked so many times, I heard pounding footsteps behind me. Picking up speed I run for the elevator. My only hope now is to try to escape from one of the secret tunnels under the hotel.
Sprinting now, I spare a glance over my shoulder. Gabriel, Vincent's second in command, is barely a 100 ft away, and quickly closing the distance.
Finally reaching the elevator, I slam my finger on the down button. Glancing back I see Gabriel using the superhuman speed that only the older vampires can use to quickly close the distance between them. Frantically looking at the elevators screen I see the number change;
93,94,95
"It's too slow," I frantically think, Gabriel now a mere few meters away.
98,99,100
The elevator doors open, agonizingly slow. I squeeze my body in, and quickly press the button for the basement. As the door closes, I see Gabriel, fangs extended, face stretched into a snarl, jumping the last few inches, nearly managing to stick an arm in the elevator, thus preventing it from closing.
I rest my head in my hands, desperately wishing I could just curl into a ball and stay that way forever.
The sudden appearance of Vincent in my mind, clears all thoughts of exhaustion from my mind. Instead a burning anger, hot enough to burn even the numbest of people, burns through me, feeling it flow through my very veins.
With the anger fuelling my exhausted mind and body, I step out of the elevator. Stalking through the dark tunnel lit only by dim lights to better accommodate eyes unused harsh light, I reach a for in the tunnel. Taking the left tunnel, I head in the direction of Marks place. If anyone can hide me long enough to escape, I'd be Mark. After all no one’s better at illusions and cloaks than a sorcerer.
Arriving in front of Marks house, Jerome looks up at the familiar sight of Marks house. I don't know how many times over the years I have walked up to this house, too many times count.
Sensing the barrier Mark always had around his house to keep out the more... unsavoury creatures of the supernatural community . I feel the slight resistance I always get as the barrier picks up my necromancer energy. Since my energy is so similar to that of a vampire, the barrier always puts up a resistance whenever I try to cross it. Feeling as if I am moving slowly through molasses, I move through the barrier, eventually making it to the bright yellow door of Marks house. Taking the naked lady door knock in his hand, Jerome lifts it, slowly letting it fall back to meet the door.
Hearing the sound of heavy footsteps from the other side of the door and a muffled "****" followed by the sound of a loud crash. I feel a smile pull at the side of my weary face.
Marks POV
Opening the door, I get a doozy of a curse ready to lay of the stupid **** that woke me up at 3:00 in the morning. Pulling open the door. I quickly close my hand extinguishing the spell that would make the person feel as if every bone in their body is slowly being grated by a grater.
" Jerome, what the **** are you doing at my door at 3:00 in the ******* morning."
Taking a close look at my friend of 15 years, I see the dark circles under puffy eyes. His cheeks are pink from exertion , and he's half slumped against the door. " **** did you and Vince get in a fight again."
Seeing the clear exhaustion on his face, I grab his arm, hauling him inside the house.
"Go to sleep in my room, you look dead on your feet." "I'll talk to you when I know you can actually comprehend what I'm saying."
Jerome seemingly understanding, stumbles his way to my bedroom. Managing to crash into my table near the kitchen that has the phone on it. Phone crashing to the floor it starts to do that, ******* annoying beeping it does whenever its off the holder too long. Glancing down the hall, I make sure that Jerome has managed to make it to my bedroom, then I reach down and pick up the beeping phone slamming it down on the holder. I run my hand through my hair.
"****" "Since I'm already up I might as well figure out what the hells going on."
Heading into the kitchen I turn on the coffee machine and prepare for a long day.

Heading into the kitchen I turn on the coffee machine and prepare for a long day.
moreVoting Question: What do you think of my story so far?
Finally reaching the elevator, I slam my finger on the down button. Glancing back I see Gabriel using the superhuman speed that only the older vampires can use to quickly close the distance between them. Frantically looking at the elevators screen I see the number change;
Hearing the sound of heavy footsteps from the other side of the door and a muffled "Fuck" followed by the sound of a loud crash. I feel a smile pull at the side of my weary face.
Marks POV
Opening the door, I get a doozy of a curse ready to lay of the stupid fuck that woke me up at 3:00 in the morning. Pulling open the door. I quickly close my hand extinguishing the spell that would make the person feel as if every bone in their body is slowly being grated by a grater.
" Jerome, what the fuck are you doing at my door at 3:00 in the fucking morning."
Taking a close look at my friend of 15 years, I see the dark circles under puffy eyes. His cheeks are pink from exertion , and he's half slumped against the door. " Shit did you and Vince get in a fight again."
Phone crashing to the floor it starts to do that, fucking annoying beeping it does whenever its off the holder too long. Glancing down the hall, I make sure that Jerome has managed to make it to my bedroom, then I reach down and pick up the beeping phone slamming it down on the holder. I run my hand through my hair.
"FUCK" "Since I'm already up I might as well figure out what the hells going on."
Heading into the kitchen I turn on the coffee machine and prepare for a long day.
Jerome's POV
I wake the next morning to a pounding in my head. Clutching it, I slowly sit up, glancing around. The events of I wake the next morning to a pounding in my head. Clutching it, I slowly sit up, glancing around. The events of last night crash over me. Vincent killing Cail, then locking me in the room till I promised to forgive him. My escaping while Vincent slept. Being chased by Gabriel and escaping to Marks place.
"Crap." My head throbbing, I sit up and set my feet on the floor. Marks floor cold as usual. Gingerly stepping on the icy cold floor I make my way to Marks bathroom to clean up and grab some tylenol.
30 minutes later, feeling much more refreshed I walk into the kitchen and sit down on one of the empty seat. Looking up from his laptop Mark gives me the once over.
"You look like hell man."
"Thanks, love you too man." I say biting sarcasm dripping from my voice. Getting up I head to the coffee machine grabbing a mug from the cupboard above me. I fill the cup to the brim.Heading back to the table I sit down and take a sip of the coffee.
"Ahh" "God man, can I marry you." "I swear you must be the god of coffee making."
"Fuck, don't say stupid shit like that." "You gave me goosebumbs, you homo."
Sticking his arm out to show me these supposed goosebumps. I feel a genuine smile pull at the corners of my mouth.
"Hahaha!" "Alright man."
"So what happened last night man?" "You haven't turned up on my doorstep with an expression like that since your first boyfriend broke up with you."
Sensing the sudden serious atmosphere, I stand up, coffee mug in hand and into the living room.
Marks POV
Following Jerome into the living room, I see him curled up on the couch Head resting on his knees, coffee mug clutched in both hand. Knowing he really didn't want to talk about it, but knowing I'd hurt more if I ask him later I stand there in the middle of the living room, not quite knowing how to start.Raking a hand through my hair I let out a sigh.
"So ...DID you and Vince get in a fight? " "Or was is it you and Cail?"
At the mention of Cail, I see his face his crumble. His whole body starts shaking with sobs. Coffee sloshes everywhere.
"Shit!" Walking over to him, I take the coffee cup from his hands and set it down, then enfold his smaller frame in my arms. Clutching me like a drowning man clutches a buoy. Soon his tears have managed to soak the shirt of my shoulder through and it seems that Jerome has cried himself to sleep. Gently laying him down I pull the afghan that my last girlfriend had brought and left here, and cover Jerome."I guess I'm not going to get my answer from you for a while."
Staring down at Jerome for a minute. I see that he has lost some weight and that his face looks pale. 'What the hell has been happening with Vince and Cail?'
Frustrated I head to the kitchen, to my laptop, hoping I can figure out what the hell's going on with my friend.I realize that I have a lot of grammar errors, I'm sorry for that I honestly suck at grammar. Believe it or not I have tried to throughly edit this. Even though I suck at grammar, I believe it shouldn't stop me from writing.

moreResolved Question: Where can I find inexpensive short-term housing in Tallahassee or Tampa?
I am moving to either Tallahassee or Tampa, FL. around the end of summer and will be looking for short-term housing while I look for employment and later a permanent rental. I know about the "Extended Stay" hotel chains, but was wondering if anyone knows about any less expensive alternatives. Most Extended Stay hotels run about $1200 a month. All I really need is a bedroom with a kitchen and bath, but I am not interested in renting a room in a private house (I need my privacy). Does anyone know of a hotel/motel chain (in a reasonably safe neighborhood) in either of these cities that offers rooms with kitchenettes and Internet access (for job hunting, of course) for reasonable weekly or monthly rates?

I am having an extended stay at a hotel soon and wanted to bring my 360 but I notice it charges $5 for internet for a week. And I think you probably (on a computer) have to go to a webpage / fill out cc info etc and then you get the wifi.
But with the 360 lacking a web browser, is there any way to get it online with a wifi system like this?edit: I think the problem is that its not a simple password. Each different computer needs to pay $5 and its done through a web page but 360 obv does not have a browser.I already have a Wifi adapter.
and Im bringing it because Im going to be there for 32 days and am gonna wanna have some time to relax and play every oncein a while.
moreResolved Question: Is this a mental disorder? Please help?
I'm a 14 year old girl living in Sydney, Australia. I grew up without extended family. When I was 4, my parents got into a argument with my Uncle because he was abusing his kids. Since then, I haven't seen my Uncles, Aunties, Cousins etc etc. (My Mum's side of the family lives in a different state to us - so it's very rare that I see them - and my grandparents on that side are dead).
At the same age, my Mother lost two babies. As I got older, I started getting bullied and teased about my image (on a daily basis).
A couple of years later, my Dad moved out for 3 months with another woman. My Mother, Brother and Myself were left without finance, food, etc etc...My Dad came back and was drowning in his sorrow for leaving us and making that mistake...
My life was fairy easy going from then on, but it all changed when I got into high school. Since grade 7, I've been really anxious about people judging me.
In late grade 8, my house burned down. I lost almost everything. I lost my dog, which really broke my heart.
I went through a rough patch where my Family and Myself went without almost everything. We were sleeping in a car because we couldn't afford a hotel. We were practically homeless.
Things started to get a bit clearer - upstairs was okay...My computer (that I'm on now) wasn't burnt and such...
I started to pick up in my grades, got a good report card. (I've never been to a counselor before).
Then - in grade 9, my anxiety and depression built up to a stage where I would lock myself in my room and wouldn't come out for days. One time, I didn't go to school for 6 weeks.
I stopped going to school because I was so afraid, and so scared that people would judge me. I tried to commit suicide twice.
I had a lot of tension and still do. I started smoking Marijuana, which helped me become happier, it completely enlightened my mood. I was happy when I was on Marijuana.
But every time I'm off it, it seems as if the entire World's on my shoulders. I've got to make all of these choices, but it's almost as if I've got a phobia of being social.
Any ideas what this may be?...I only walk at night, I don't go to the shops, I usually stay up all night and sleep during the day so nobody sees me.
Thanks in advance..Please don't judge me because of what I've done...I make mistakes and I'm not perfect.

moreResolved Question: Starting graduate school soon. I have an issue with housing for for the first 2 weeks. What do I do?
The problem is, the apartment I am getting is a off campus type student housing. Given that fact, they do move in only on August 20th (maybe 21st, I can't remember); Classes start on August 23rd.
Problem is, because this is graduate school (PhD program, and I actually work for the school), I need to be in the area ~ 2 weeks before classes start. So August 9th is when I need to be there.
I am guessing I need to stay at a hotel. How much should I expect to pay to stay at a hotel for that extended amount of time?
Any advice?
moreResolved Question: Is it safe to travel to Thailand right now?
My fellow answers friends - my hubby and i are india and had plans to travel to thailand on the 21st May on our way home/back to sydney. We were planning to stay in Bangkok for 2 nights but have cancelled our hotel there as many concerned friends and family members said that it's quite dangerous, but we have still left our booking with thai airways and are planning to extend our stay in hua hin which is about 3 hours out of bangkok. If anyone can help me with the following I would be grateful - the news we are getting at the moment is in bits and bobs and the news can inflate situations, so i need real people to tell me how it is.
1. Is the airport safe? Should I be changing my flight to another airline?
2. Should i be visiting Thailand (Hua Hin) in particular, knowing there is unrest?
3. Is it safer to just go back home to Sydney?
Not much scares us and I'm thinking that its ok if we go to hua hin, but we don't want to get trapped in the country if there is an issue at the airport seeing as its our first time in thailand. Anyone help?
moreResolved Question: What is there to do Nov/Dec in Barbados - read on please -?
The Icelandic volcanic ash ( Eyjafjallajokul = copy/paste - don't ask me to pronounce the name!) cancelled our holiday to your Island in April. We have re-booked for an extended stay from the end of November (21st). We will be doing the usual tourist things but want to know about those less known places and things to do. Are there any special events we should plan to go to - we know about Independence Day on the 30th Nov. We would like to know about things that take us away from the usual tourist events. We are going to be staying on the South coast. We especially love the East/North coast - (a bit like our West coast in Ireland - less the rain of course), so any ideas for places to visit along with the usual tourist lunch at The Atlantis Hotel, a visit to the Andromeda Gds etc would be appreciated. We have read about the "Segway" trips on the North coast - any good? We would love to sample local music/culture and any small festivals - however remote – we will have a hire car for a few weeks. Our adventurous daughter (25) is especially interested in the Aerial Trek Zipline Adventure - Walkes Spring Plantation, Jack-in-the-Box Gully, St. Thomas - any thoughts? - me=Dad, has no head for heights so I will not be taking part!, but I am willing to have a Banks in the café while waiting. We will be travelling the whole Island - so any interesting places not covered by the usual websites - totallybarbados/barbados.org/funbarbados.com etc would be welcome. Is Baxter’s Road in Bridgetown safe after dark? We want to sample a few good local rum shops with character and meet the locals.
Thanks to those who answered my last Barbados question - Highly Favoured, Bajan Princess and Yomesmo.

moreResolved Question: How much money do I need for 3 months in America?
Hi there, I'm planning on travelling to Nashville, Tennessee (at least, that's where I want to start out) next summer for a few months and I just wondered what amount of money I should be taking. I plan to get a job out there, as I'm not entirely sure whether I want to return to the UK afterwards. I would also like to extend my travels to Kentucky and Texas, just to explore.
Basically, the information I would really like to know is:
a) how much money to take with me
b) whether to rent an apartment or stay in a hotel/hostel
c) whether to buy a car or travel by public transport
My ultimate plan is to get a job in the music industry out there, but I know that's a little far-fetched at the moment, so the short-term plan is to go out next summer and make some connections, which is why I need to start planning now!
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,

When my husband left he left me with the savings, house, and an signed agreement with him pretty much saying he would cover everything for he children(a very good amount of child support and then health care ect.) He moved into a spendy extended stay.
My husband has always not been good with $$$ I am the one that has had to do EVERYTHING. Well I had a feeling that it was not going to be very long til he was out on his own till he was in trouble....I guess it took 5 days!
Last night He was pretty much asking me to help him out he wanted me to loan him the money for a month in advance so could not pay taxes on the hotel. He also said he had pretty much no money for food/gas. Well this morning he called and told me something was wrong with the car and if I could help him out of and the help with the hotel.
Did I mention I have been a SAHM and now I have to probably leave my 2 young children and go back to work
Should I help him or just let him realize how hard it is going to be on his own. He is trying to say if I help it will help him have more money for the kids so he can DO stuffHe is trying to say BECAUSE he gave me the savings I should help him out. I was hoping that this separation was going to end with him coming back home., but I am starting to see things different...
Did I mention he was having a emotional affair with another women. For those who think I took EVERYTHING he left us with NO car and only 5k in savings. It was both of our agreement I would stay at home and raise our children....in fact he didn't even want me working PT.
moreResolved Question: I don't know how to fix this?
Hi everyone!
My parents live in another state. They moved there when I was 18 and they have been there for about 4 years now. We are very close and talk on the phone twice a week to keep a strong bond.
Here's the problem:
They have come to visit for a week and I was really excited. They are staying with me and my husband. They had all these plans for things we would do. But they have cancelled them to go and see their friends/extended family.
Now, I understand that they don't get to see these people often and I think it's great for them to catch up with everyone while they are here. But even though they are staying with us, I am lucky to have seen them for more than a few hours. Its almost like they treat our house like a hotel. They go out first thing in the morning and don't come home until late at night. It's pretty upseting, considering that I was so looking forward to their visit and I have barely seen them.
Not only that, I have found out they have changed our future plans and do not plan on spending much time with us before they go home in a couple of days. It's not like they have only seen everyone once. They are making repeated visits. For example, they have seen my grandmother 4 times and spent hours at her house in just the few days they have been here for.
My question is this: Do I have a right to feel upset? Should I say anything?
I understand they want to see other people while they are here but shouldn't I get to at least spend SOME time with them?
Thanks for your thoughts and opinions :)
xx
