Resolved Question: What chances do my husband have on getting custody of our son?
We are going through a divorce and we live in Houston,TX but since this marriage is not working and I don't have family here I will be moving back with family in Birmingham,AL..I have a full time job and I can transfer, I have a town home in Birmingham, and family support. My husband have a contract job and he is always out of town and he has no one in Houston that is family that would look after him and oh wait he has a sister but she work full time and she loves to work..so that's a no. I'm not leaving behind my only child because of his selfish reasons he is 9 months and my son needs me, I'm still breastfeeding so---no shot for him. He is barely home anyway so technically I am a single mom already, even now he is not around, and he wasn't around during the childbirth, so what good will it do him to get full custody when his job is not stable and he claim that when we divorce he will move into a extended stay hotel..What the hell...I don't want my son being in no damn hotel.Oh gosh I just want to move on with my life away from him..I will not deny his rights to his son, He can visit his son anytime in Birmingham, AL.. So readers...Do he have a shot or what? moreResolved Question: I am very nervous, worried and confused, please help!?
I'm a 17 year old female from venezuela and a native spanish speaker I'm moving (with my family) to houston on january because of my dad's job. I graduated from high school on july, and if I was going to stay in venezuela my career would have started around february next year. Now I'm struggling quite a lot with american college applications, and just the general progress. I've already narrowed the colleges I'm applying to the ones in houston (private: rice, st johns, houston baptist and houston university). A bit about my academic record: -3.67 gpa (18.34 out of 20 in venezuela's grading system) -IB Diploma (most rigurous curse available at my school):Got it with a 30 but got an A on my extended essay wich was about comparing maduration rates of bovine oocytes that were from different bovine breeds -In venezuela you do not choose the subjects you want to study each year, you have an assigned curriculum, but you usually had 9-12 subjects per grade, so I've got from Maths, Spanish&Literature, English (as a foreign language) (5 years each), Biology, Physics, Chemistry (organic and not organic), Geography, Economical Geography of Venezuela, World History, Venezuelan History, Computer Science, Music History and more... Art was a big deal in my school, we had art classes at least twice a week for all of the highschool years. -I ranked 6th in my class of 65. -Have more than a 100 community service hours (80 are required by the school) -Co-Founded the school's delegation for model of United Nations (MUN) -Went to multiple MUN events and won a "outstanding delegate" award -I was the academic director of the organizational committee in the first MUN even that was hosted in the school -Participated in multiple theater plays, from comedic performance to dance. -There is an event in my school which is called the "Scientific Congress" wich lasts about 2 weeks every year. I took part of the "journal committee" and became a senior editor. -I also participated in the museum, an exhibition in wich we did murals and sculptures related to the scientific congress -I participated every year since I was in 1st grade of elementary on Literature Contests, ranging from Book Symposiums, Poetry Recital, Oratory and Original Short Stories. Every year got an award or two and when I graduated I got the "Wings of Creativity" prize because of my participation over the years -I also got on graduation a diploma of arts and design, I am a decent painter but I think I got it because my design was chosen for the graduating class t-shirts I am really worried about the following things: 1.- I never participated on sports teams at my school, I was decent at soccer, volleyball and basket but I didn’t even try out for the teams because I wasn’t that good. 2.- SAT’s: Never heard of those until recently, I’m really worried because I took the practice test on college board and I got a 1640 (CR: 610 M: 540 and W:490). It was quite hard because English is not my mother tongue, and there were many words (especially in the writing section) which I didn’t know the meanings of. Also in math there were some terms wich I didn’t know the meanings in Spanish. Still, I am really worried, I had never taken an exam like that (except for IB, but IB math was REALLY different, it was focused on longer problems and structured solving rather than filling a single box). I am planning on studying really hard because I was considered a really good student and got into rigorous curses like IB and got my diploma. My dream college would be rice but I am really disappointed of my sat results, I got the test in 3 weeks and I don’t know how much I can improve. Do you think I might be able to get in those colleges (Rice specially)? Do you think I can improve my sat score 200 points at least? (I am really disciplined once I set up a goal). What else can I do to make some foreign Venezuelan girl application stand out? Anykind of feedback will be much appreciated, I am really worried and confused about this whole new process that I'm getting into and my sat scores being to low to get into the colleges I want. moreResolved Question: Worried about my sat scores!?

The Houston Leones own Soccer World Center, a private 17 acre park with 3 fully lit soccer fields, A 5,000 capacity stadium, 500 car parking, a PDL franchise from USL, an Indoor stadium, Weight room, Cafeteria, Full Kitchen,8 person dormitory,Lounge, Soccer store, Office, Home and Away locker rooms, Tennis court, 80+ possible acres of expansion. If the Dynamo and these guys were able to set a deal to where the Dynamo start their youth club, gather sponsorship money from the PDL and the park and stadium, Tournaments and other sorts of income. For an exchange of a percentage of the dynamo. They will be able to stay in Houston for an extended period rather then three years and might be able to make enough funds to pay the lease of Robertson Stadium, until the city is able to provide subsidies to build their stadium. What do you think? The Dynamo has accomplished so much in the past two years and it deserves to stay in Houston. If they leave to a new city then they will have to start their process of management, marketing, finances, and other negotiations to build a strong franchise. This will give both entities a mutual benefit. It's something I've been thinking about for a while and I wanted some public input. moreResolved Question: This could keep the Houston Dynamo in Houston!?

Where can we lay our heads at night, while helping with the relief efforts of Hurricane Ike in Houston, TX? We came from Florida to Bunker Hill Village, TX (just west of Houston & is considered Houston) to help with the clean-up. For the last week, we've had to stay in the cab of our trucks because there is nowhere for us to camp. By camp, I mean....to put up a tent & try and get a good nights rest before the next job site in the morning. We can't find anywhere to go. The YMCA is very helpful, in letting us shower & charge our phones. But we have yet to find someone or somewhere to let us park our truck & pop a tent to rest. I have called around to a ton of people from the government to the red cross. The "311" number is a joke, they thought of us as campers (which were not.) I've called camp grounds & most arent open for business yet. But were not there to enjoy your scenery, were there to help get your lives back to normal. It's disturbing to see that the government did not designate area's for helping hands. Like a comfort zone. Somewhere to use the bathroom, shower & sleep until the break of day. So if there is anyone out there in the Bunker Hill Village area or nearby in TX that would extend a helping hand to another helping hand, we would Greatly Appreciate it. We are honest, hard working faithful people. moreResolved Question: Where can we lay our heads at night, while helping with the relief efforts of Hurricane Ike in Houston, TX?

Okay so my family needs to visit several awesome universities/colleges in the Great state of Texas to help my daughter decide where to go to college. I need to stay there for a month or so, but I am looking for something cheaper than, say, Residence Inn, Extended Stay America, Oakwood, Hawthorn Suites, AmeriSuites, Candlewood Suites, etc. I am looking for something along the lines of "Budget Suites of America" [www.budgetsuites.com] where they have a weekly rate of about $199.00 in Dallas and San Antonio, TX. Any Texas natives know of anything like that? Something that isn't a big, expensive hotel chain? Preferably not infested with roaches/rodents or in a rough neighborhood... And yes, I'm checking Craigslist every day. Thanks!! moreResolved Question: Who are some MLB closers you can think of that have experienced a meltdown after been dominant?
The recent beating Eric Gagne of the Boston Redsox experienced in Game 2 of the ALCS made me realize how hard it is to stay among the best in the role of closer in MLB for an extended period of time. When Eric Gagne played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, many thought he was the most dominating closer in baseball. Today, after various meltdowns, he has been ranked the lowest in Boston's bullpen. He is not the first to experience such a change. I know there have been various others. Mark Wholers of the Atlanta Braves and Brandon Lidge of the Houston Astros are the only other two I can think of? Can you help me identify others? moreResolved Question: Who can give me some useful information on extended stay hotel in houston?
