I went to college in the 1960's on the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant Program. I stayed in school until the free money ran out but earned a BA in Philosophy. When they made me leave school I got drafted. I tried to tell them that I was gay but they didn't believe me and sent me to Basic Training. To get out of the Army I shot myself in the foot with an M16 rifle and they had to discharge me. I told them that it was an accident but they didn't believe me so I sued them and they had to give me a partial disability for the missing toe. My father died and left me his 36 foot Alberg Sailboat which I moved onto along with my college girlfriend, Sophie. I started smuggling marijuana with the boat and got away with it for several years. One night the Coast Guard busted me as I was entering Destin Pass with a load of good Panama Red and they sent me to Federal Prison for four years. The DEA confiscated the boat but I had Sophie but it back at auction with money we had stashed from the pot running. Sophie stayed on the boat until they released me. While in prison they taught me computer graphics and I worked in the prison printing shop. When I got out of the joint I bought a Mac and began making fake ID cards for college students and fake papers for the Haitians in South Florida. I made good money doing this and saved enough over time for an extended cruise to the Bahamas and points south. I played music in the bars for extra money and since Sophie was a dance major in college she would sometimes dance at the topless clubs, sometimes knocking down a grand in one night. We kept this us for several years until my Uncle died and left us a little house on a canal in Cape Coral, Florida. We left the boat there and took off to "see America" in a camper van. We would stop in various cities and rent a Home Away motel. Sophie would dance when neccessary and I would play a few gigs at the bars. We ended up in Berkeley and rented a small apartment and Sophie danced while I finished my Masters in Philosophy. We went back to Cape Coral where I gave sailing lessons for the tourists and Sophie opened a dance studio teaching the rich folks kids modern dance and ballet. One of Sophie's little student's Mom was friends with Jeb Bush, the Governor of Florida. She liked Sophie and Sophie gave the daughter free lessons in return for her having Jeb arrange a pardon for me through his brother, George W. Bush so now I have a clean record. I turned 62 last year and got a letter from the Social Security Administration saying that I could start collecting my benefits. I thought it was a mistake since I had never had a real tax paying job but it turned out that I had paid taxes on my prison salary and did qualify. They now send me a check. I was recently offered a job with the State of Florida teaching Philosophy at the State Prison as part of a State/Federal college program for inmates. The director of the program is an old friend I met in the joint. I don't think that I will take it because any earned income above $12,000 penalizes by Social Security money so I will probably just help Sophie around the dance studio, maybe teaching guitar to the kids and be a mentor to them as best I can. But after meeting Gov. Bush I got interested in politics and worked as a volunteer on the Obama campaign. Several of our friends are encouraging me to run for Mayor of Cape Coral, Florida and I am considering it. My platform will be simple. I have nothing to hide. Good honest government. Hello there. My husband and I plan a long summer vacation every year for the month of July. Last year we went to Europe. This year we are planning on going to the Orlando area for our vacation. This will be our first trip to Orlando and Disney World. We’ve done our homework and know about the EMH Disney offers, so we will be staying in a Disney resort while in the Disney area (Polynesian), then we will switch to a hotel across the street of Downtown Disney (Hyatt Grand regency resort). Has anyone stayed in those resorts? How are they? We will be driving there, so we’ll have our car to do our activities while not in the parks. We’ve researched things to do on international drive, and picked out a bunch. Our kids ages are 8 and 11. My question is: could you take a look at our itinerary and tell me if you think its too busy? Should we extend our vacation a few days longer? What should we keep in and take out? What are your experiences? I want to get everything figured out so we can start booking our dining reservations (character dining, etc…) and do you have any Orlando tips you would like to share with me? what type of activites/ snacks should we pack for the car ride? any answers and advice would help greatly! My fiance recently lost his mother, and he's gotten VERY clingy with me lately...?!?
Ok, well, I'm 22, and fiance, Jakob, who's 23, just lost his mom right before Christmas. He was really close with his mom... His dad died when he was only 2, so he was raised by only his mother. He's a bit more on the feminine side because of this, but he's also able to express his emotions, and understand mine, better than any other guy I've met, which I love. Anyways, he doesn't even have any other extended family, or siblings, either... I'm the only one he has in his life, now, so I've really tried to be there for him. Question, though... Jakob has gotten very clingy since he lost his mom. If I stay at the studio (we're both dance teachers) after my classes, he'll stay there with me, even after his classes are done, because he doesn't want to be at home by himself; he says it's too quiet and lonely. If I go to bed early, he will too, even if he's not tired, just because he wants to be with me. He doesn't want to stay up alone. He always wants me next to him or right near him (and I mean always) whenever we're at home, and in the evening, whenever we both get home from work, (different times on different nights) he'll hold me, tell me he loves me, and give me a kiss (not just the "Hey, how was your day?" kind of thing... like, very meaningful.) Don't get me wrong, I'm totally fine with it, because I understand that he feels alone right now; he's orphaned, without any other family, so obviously he's going to be clingy with me... but I mean, he's SO extremely clingy... it's almost starting to worry me. He's sort of my shadow lately... And again, I'm fine with this. It doesn't bother me, so don't yell at me, telling me I'm being unsupportive or whatever... I'm just worried about him... Howcome he's being THIS extremely clingy with me? And what can I do to help him? Thank you.Ally- I never said I thought he was being TOO clingy. My Lord, no need to attack me over it... Did you even read the question? I said I don't mind that he is. moreResolved Question: Orlando during Spring Break?
hello. My husband and I are taking our 4 kids to Orlando during spring break (March 29-April 2). We are planning on extending the vacation a few days though. We will be staying in the Saratoga Springs resort. I have 3 boys and 1 girl aged 6, 8, 12, and 15. My daughter will be turning 9 on April 2, so we are planning to celebrate her birthday while there. She loves princesses and likes playing dress-up, so were are planning on doing the bippide boppidie boutique and eating breakfast in Cinderella’s castle the day of her birthday. Because of everyone’s interests, we want to go to every park at least once. Here is our itinerary: Saturday, March 27: fly in, hang around hotel Sunday, March 28: Universal Studios Monday, March 29: Islands of Adventure Tuesday, March 30: Blizzard Beach Wednesday, March 31: Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios Thursday, April 1: Epcot Friday, April 2: Magic Kingdom Saturday, April 3: Downtown Disney Sunday, April 4: Sea World Monday, April 5: Kennedy Space Center Tuesday, April 6: fly home We've done our research. But I was wondering what restaurants you recommend and which parks/ attractions would be best for our kids age groups? And do you have any Disney-tips that I could use? Thanks! moreResolved Question: Should I move 1,300 miles away from home to be with him?
I live in the Midwest, but the guy I have dated for 2 years lives in Los Angeles. I am 27, and he is 30. Until now, we have maintained our relationship online and on the telephone... he travels here 2-3 times a year for 1-2 weeks at a time, and I travel there about as much. We've had no problems with the distance. I made a halfhearted attempt to move to L.A. last year after he badgered me for over a year to do so. I left my home in the Midwest with about $2,500 and began staying in one of those extended-stay furnished studios. But I just wasn't "feeling it." Since my partner still lives at home with his mom and dad, the place I was staying didn't feel like home at all and was very depressing... and he didn't want to move in with me. We also had a few fundamental differences at the time that put a big cloud over our relationship. I didn't have any friends in L.A. and I was bleeding tons of money trying to stay there with no support structure. I didn't even bother looking for a job... I moved back home after about three weeks. It was very sad but I just felt like the timing and the situation was all wrong. However, we are still dating and we are in love more than ever before... but the distance isn't working anymore. His parents are extremely conservative immigrants, and his dad is actually a preacher. They don't make a lot of money and he feels like he has to support them to a large extent. These things combined, I think, make up the reasoning for him not wanting to move in with me last year. Obviously, also because of these things, me moving in with him/them is completely out of the question. I feel like we can't maintain our current relationship, or grow any more, with 1,300 miles between us. I am faced with an increasingly gloomy situation. Most of the time when I really contemplate this, it feels like it comes down to "me versus his parents." And I know I would never win that battle no matter how in love we are! Moving to L.A. and getting an apartment by myself, or a roommate, is the logical option... but in reality that's a lot tougher than it seems. It's one of the most competitive job markets in the world, and on top of that California is in the middle of an economic and unemployment crisis. And right now I don't have the $5,000 to $10,000 extra cash that I would need (or want) in order to keep myself afloat while struggling to find work. What am I supposed to do? He really wants me to pack up... again... and move out to L.A. for real this time. But it seems like he wants me to do it with absolutely no support structure in place once I get there. Is it wrong for me to ask him to meet me halfway? It's like... I am giving up my whole life and everything I know to move out there to be with him... and he's not willing to move out here. So why is it wrong of me to want him to share a place with him once I get there? And how am I supposed to bring this up without it sounding like I am trying to make him ditch his parents? Just looking for general advice... heck, I don't know... maybe I just wanted to rant, LOL moreResolved Question: Help, please?! I have been staying in Studioplus deluxe studio on a month to month stays since couple of months. I pay every month in advance. I payed for this month and I have to leave for some other city before end of this months stay. As I have already for this month, but staying only 10 days in this month, can I claim/get the rest of the 20 days amount? I'm looking at a possible contract position with Yahoo! in Sunnyvale. This will be an extended position away from home, so I'm looking at accommodation options nearby. I know the area broadly, but not that well. Hotels like Extended Stay America are a studio and are about $40/night, which is ok. I will likely be cycling, so suggestions need to be within about 4 miles. I'm wondering if better deals can be had for weekly or monthly arrangements - say $1000/month, especially if I don't need regular housekeeping. Craigslist is less desirable here, as studio rentals typically need both a deposit and several month lease, as well as having to worry about utilities, but I'm open to suggestions. moreResolved Question: cross-cultural marriage is going down the tubes?
I am from the U.S. and I married a woman from Europe. We have been married for 15 years and have had rough patches but nothing serious. Then we moved to her country. We have been here a couple years. Over these couple of years everyone seemed to forget I am from the U.S. and now I am expected to respect all of their customs, behaviors etc... and no one respects mine. In the U.S. I was an artist and art professor. In the U.S. we respect privacy and personal space a little more I think. There is absolutely no concept of privacy here. This kind of sucks because I am an artist and I need a little alone time to work. My wife seemed to think it was cool that I was an artist and I would spend time in the studio when we were in the U.S. but since we got here it is slowly becoming something unbearable for her and her extremely close extended family. I just spent 80,000 dollars on a masters degree in fine arts but I barely get a couple hours of undisturbed studio time a week (and it's my job not a hobby). And this is in the summer when I am not even teaching! I thought it was simply a husband-wife problem but seeing how these problems started when we moved here I think it is something deeper, something cultural. My wife has changed completely. She won't let me work. She feels I can always do it later, but it has been 2 years. It is really not cool. We are inches away from a divorce. But it's worse. We have a 16 month old daughter. I get it. It's a lot of work. But it is a lot of work for me an no one else. I am a stay-at-home Dad and work 30 hours a week. I would like to work in my studio in the evenings and on the weekends. We only have enough money for my studio to be at home. I have tried to work something out. I would like to have the small apartment to myself for 1-2 hours every day from 5-7 and 6 hours every weekend day without a toddler screaming. My wife said no. She said I can't make her leave her own apartment. Wow! This is freaky. Is this my wife? Sometimes unexpectedly she leaves for a few hours with our daughter (without giving me notice) and then behaves like she gave me a huge gift. But we have nothing scheduled. Everyone else around this place has a structured life. I would like one too. I have friends from the U.S. who have kids and both have time to work. It takes organization, hard work and strict scheduling I think. Here everybody thrives on chaos, cell phones, and pushiness. I don't recognize my wife. It's like New York here but without the productivity. I am getting stepped all over. I feel like a 50's american housewife. These people are really brutal. I have tried speaking up but people treat me like a whiner. Ok I know I am whining but I could use a little advice. moreResolved Question: Cheap Apartments close to New York Film Academy?

I live in a rent- stabalized month 2 month léase apartment. I'd like 2 have someone stay in it while I'm out Of town for The NeXT 10 months. However my landlord doesn't allow sublets. If i have an extended "house guest" - wink wink- who gives me cash on the side can i still be evicted or get into trouble? Is there a way to avoid or circumvent The no sublet clause in my rental agreement? Plus The apt léase also stipulates i can't live with anyone in my studio. Still if I have several "guests" or "friends" staying there throughout the Time I'm away might there be someway to make ot work? I'm going 2 be starting a new profession which would make me an independent contractor & I won't have The payroll salary which comes with a traditional Job. So giving up The apt could potentially leave me in a vulnerable position in getting a new rental apt.! I expect i will have money, substantial savings ( maybe equivalent 2 a years rent) and good crédit score however at this moment I'm not sure about having a guarantor in place. Of course another part Of me says give up The Albatross and move on. I mean in this climatérica there had 2 be a landlord who would take cash & take into consideration my business earnings right? Yes I'm projecting earnings. Still i mean if I did just stop The place there must be The possibility for a sublet or extended hotel or home rental option where people aré flexible, right? So can i possibly get past The rental clause if I play with thevwords & use the term guest or house sitter in an agreement? Or should I just drop it all & roll the dice, see what happens down the line. Also my landlords sniffing around the place. He noticed some stuff I put in storage & has already asked if I'm living in the apt. I can't afford 2 keep 2 places. The rent stabalization thing isn't a primary factor with me. If the rent went up so what. My primary reason for considering trying 2 keep the apt is whether I'll easily qualify 4 a new one in a year. Has anyone ever stayed in a Homestead extended stay hotel? How did you like it? I am looking for an affordable hotel in California, and I came across this, I am a little afraid of booking it because the cost is so low. Is this a good hotel? moreResolved Question: Does anyone knows of a cheap motel in Austin Texas?
I found an extended stay hotel for $370 per week. Also, Studio 6 is about the same price. If you know of a cheaper place please let me know. Thanks. moreResolved Question: Extended stay hotel versus apartment?
Hi there, I have a bit of a complicated situation. My boyfriend and I have been together for about 1 1/4 years and live 125 miles apart; as a result of the distance and him working a full-time job during the week, we only get to see each other on the weekends. Last year we were planning on moving in together (I would be moving out-of-state, voluntarily; I'm unemployed right now and want to leave my home state and eventually attend my college of choice, and he wants to find a place closer to his job, which is currently an hour away). We both have separate reasons for wanting to live together, but both share the sentiment of wanting to share living space and pursue a happy long-term relationship together in close quarters. Unfortunately, we haven't found any ideal or affordable apartments in the areas he had in mind, and we both feel like we don't know when we'll ever find the right place. Not only would the right place be closer to his job (and not terribly far from his family) to save him time and money, it would save him the hours he spends traveling here each weekend. Recently, though, he came across a listing for a room in an extended stay hotel--a studio room that includes all utilities, free cable, a small kitchen area, and several other amenities. Aside from the size of the room, smaller than desirable, it seems like it has everything we would need. My question is, can a room in an extended stay hotel be a good and reliable substitute for an apartment? What are some of the differences we should know about? Are there any restrictions or limitations about renting the room, such as moving furniture in (i.e. shelving, storage, etc) or decor? I would just like to know what to expect from living there, and if it should be more of a last resort than an apartment. Thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: Extended Stay Hotels in Abu Dhabi?
I need to find an extended stay hotel or furnished studio/apt for 2-3 months until I find a nice apartment/villa. I would like to find something in the city and preferrably close to the Electra area or close to the American School. I have seen anything like that on the web, any recommendations? How much something like that cost? Thanks. I meant Electra Street. I didn't know there are 2 American Schools. Do you know which one is better? moreResolved Question: How would I go about spending a summer in Dublin?
I'm a college student in the United States. A friend and I are interested in spending some time in Dublin, possibly this summer. Assuming we decided to, what would we need to do in order to live in the city for, say, 3 months? I know that we would both have to apply for U.S. passports, obviously. Will we need any kind of travel visas to stay for an extended period? What kind of immigration laws would we be subject to? What would be the best way of finding a place to stay? Is there a way that we could arrange to rent or sublet an apartment or flat ahead of time, such that we wouldn't have to worry about it once we were there? How difficult is it to find a one-bedroom or studio for rent? Perhaps most importantly, what should we anticipate as a total cost for a stay of 2-3 months? Could we realistically expect, in that time, to find part-time jobs to defray some of the cost of living? moreResolved Question: Coming to Vegas around the end of March 2009...?

I work at an Attorney's office in Northern/Bay Area California for a family law attorney. However, I need Bankruptcy/Foreclosure help and I don't think the Bankruptcy attorney at my office is too keen on helping for free. So I've done all the research I can but I would like some help please, for those of you willing to give some legal advice. My parents ligitimately were granted their Chapter 7. However, my dad has many health problem's and has been in and out of work and hospitals lately, not to mention he retires this year. My mom is younger but has had back problems, cancer scares and had been recently attacked and physically assaulted and can't work at night due to trauma. They ligitimately could no longer afford to pay their home. Although they have been trying hard to find ways to rent or lease a home ever since they knew their home would foreclose, they have been having trouble as their creditor Motioned for a relief from stay about a couple of months ago. According to public records they received their Notice of Trustee's Sale on Aug 14th, 2008, but I'm not sure the date of the sale (they have 3 weeks??). I've prolonged typing up a Motion to Extend and am still not only unsure of how to type it up, since I am only an Attorney's assistant 6 months long. Not only that, I'm not sure if it's a Motion to Extend that I should file. I'm also interested in filing a Request to Produce Documents if I still hve time to seek proof that the lender physically has possesion of the note. Do I have time to file that if the Trustee's Sale has been issued? My guess is my Motion to Extend will be formatted as a Declaration declared by my father with Exhibits as to why he needs and requests the motion (two children still living with him at home, both in college; one grand daughter firmly emotionally attached to grandparents, therefore having hard time finding new home to accommodate them, children, and granddaughter... their inability to work steadily due to health problems and proof of hospital stays and health conditions; my parents gave their stimulus check to my sister for the baby and to help her get a car to commute to school because she'd been walking and taking the bus this whole time, etc.) Ladies and Gentlemen, if I were to want to file this by tomorrow or Friday morning, do I stand a chance? Am I filing what I need to file correctly? I am but a mere college student myself - my job at the law office is only 2-3 days a week otherwise I'd financially help my parents myself and get them the proper legal help they need. They had earlier consulted with a shady legal "advisor" in which the preliminary hearing recognized and allowed them an extension to file their paperwork. But currently, if they are to get kicked out, they don't have much options where to go, I can't see my family out on the streets - no real local family for help, I live in a tiny studio with 500 sq. ft. to call my own.... my sister is still interning and will graduate shortly, having regular garage sales at home to help pay for gas and diapers, and my brother stopped working 20 hours less to finish his last transfer year in college to become a police officer or firefighter. Please help if you can and anything that you could reliably offer would be greatly appreciated. I know this was long but I've been up for hours typing this and I need a helping hand so bad. What can I offer in return? I photograph.... I do freelance graphic design.... just ask. Thanks and I appreciate and anticipate your response. -S moreResolved Question: All people from Orlando Fl please help me!!! I need 2 know what places/areas are good/bad to stay here!?

Me, my husband, and 2 kids are going to California for a week this summer. We are planning to visit San Diego Zoo, the Disney parks, Universal Studios, and Hollywood. I would like to find a hotel room with a kitchen for a good rate (so we don't have to eat out every meal for a week).
