When you start getting Child Benefit you'll get paid at the rates for the current year. The amount you receive usually goes up in April each year. The rates are as follows: Who the allowance is for Current weekly amount Eldest or only child £20.30 Additional children - per child £13.40 Guardian's Allowance - per child £14.30 What happens if two families join together, or a family splits? Only one child in your family, or extended family, qualifies for the higher rate of Child Benefit. If two families join together, the eldest child is the one who qualifies for the higher rate. If you are entitled to Child Benefit for any other children in the new family you will get the lower rate for each of them. Resolved Question: Where can I find inexpensive short-term housing in Tallahassee or Tampa?

I am moving to either Tallahassee or Tampa, FL. around the end of summer and will be looking for short-term housing while I look for employment and later a permanent rental. I know about the "Extended Stay" hotel chains, but was wondering if anyone knows about any less expensive alternatives. Most Extended Stay hotels run about $1200 a month. All I really need is a bedroom with a kitchen and bath, but I am not interested in renting a room in a private house (I need my privacy). Does anyone know of a hotel/motel chain (in a reasonably safe neighborhood) in either of these cities that offers rooms with kitchenettes and Internet access (for job hunting, of course) for reasonable weekly or monthly rates? more

Resolved Question: What is with the websites for businesses in Northern Maine?

I am trying to find temporary and permanent lodging in Aroostook County and I have had a very difficult time even finding any websites for these businesses much less helpful ones. The "newspapers" online have no classified sections online and the front page article for one paper was about "the mark of the beast". The apartment communities do not have their own websites and they are not listed in forrent.com or apartmentguide.com. The hotels which advertise extended stay do not even know what the term really means (weekly rates- which they do not offer). Are the people in Aroostook county like that movie The Village or what? I still have time to change my mind about taking a job offer there and I am getting the impression these people have never heard of the internet and don't care too. I live in a small town in Texas and everyone here uses the internet about as much as your average American, so what's the deal? Are Mainers "all there"? Ya know...mentally? more

My wife and I are relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area from out-of-state. We haven't found an apartment yet, and we would like to stay at an extended stay hotel or apartment as we conduct our housing search. Are there any inexpensive, short-term (a week, two weeks or up to a month) housing options for those who are moving to the Bay Area? I have stayed at an Inn-Town Suites, which offered a comfortable hotel/apartment-like stay at nice weekly rates. Unfortunately, they don't offer a location in the San Francisco Bay Area. Are there any other decent weekly-rate hotels or apartments in the Bay Area (preferably in the Peninsular/Palo Alto/Mountain View area)? Thanks for any help!!! more
