Resolved Question: Do hotels/motels give lower rates for extended stays?

Im wondering if there is a possibility to rent a motel/hotel room for a lower price if I was to stay for an extended period of time, like 6 months to a year for example. Is there a name for such a service? Would I have to sign a contract or anything if this does exist? I am asking because I will most likely have to relocate from my parents house to be able to get an entry job into my field once im done with school. more

Voting Question: Wife is in jail on drug & child cruelty charges. Does the temporary visitation agreement still apply?

My brother's soon-to-be ex-wife is currently in jail on felony drug charges, felony credit card fraud charges, and cruelty to children charges. She has no one who is willing to bond her out and is actually being held for subsequent transfer to a different county for MORE felony credit card fraud charges. We live in Georgia and they currently have a temporary visitation agreement between them that states that they are to exchange their two children (ages 2 and 7 months) on a week to week basis. Before her arrest on November 25, 2009, she was living in an extended-stay motel with another person. The cruelty to children charge stems from her oldest daughter being present at the time when officers were anonymously called to the motel on suspicion of child abuse and found her surrounded in tons of prescription pill bottles filled with Percocets and OxyContins - none of the scrips, of course, were hers. She already lost custody of her oldest daughter, age 4, as of last week to her parents due to this matter and my brother is seeking full custody of their two children. She is still in jail and will definitely be there at least for a few more weeks, but the judge in the divorce is ordering that my brother and his wife seek mediation to settle the visitation and custody. His fear now is that IF and WHEN she gets out, she will try to gain access to their children and impose the week-to-week custody agreement until they can get a mediation date or court date. My brother is scared to death that she will get out and attempt to take the kids, in which case, if she calls the police and shows them court documents, they'll make him hand the children over. Does the nature of her current charges affect whether or not she can actually be allowed to potentially have the children for a week at a time, even though she has no home, no car, no job, and no way to actually care for them? Do charges of this nature deem the parent as unfit and therefore unsuitable to exercise visitation or is there something more that he can do to protect his children? (His lawyer is extremely difficult to get a hold of and we are all currently seeking other counsel - I'm asking here more for peace of mind.) more

Resolved Question: Difficult family at christmas?

Myself(i am heavily pregnant) and husband and 7 and 3 yr old children were to be going to inlaws 4 hrs away for xmas as it was" our turn".But we cannot as i will be giving birth 4 days after xmas. So,hubbys parents and only siblin(sister) and her 4 year old son are comming up here to spend it with us and there other family in town.Husbands parents are staying in a motel for 2 nights but said to husband his sister wants to know if her and her son can stay with us for 5 nights?I dont have a problem with that except we dont really have comfortable room for any one extra to stay.she isnt the best house guest, she is a smoker and we arent and it smells all through the house even though she does it outside. but more importantly her son can a very difficult child to have around. And by that i mean he doesnt do what he is told(even by by own mother or grandparents),he misbehaves, will let himself out of the house and doesnt want to come back in(he done this to me when grandparents bought him up for a visit and asked to leave him while they checked in to motel which was fine except but were gone nearly 3 hrs),he makes a complete mess around my house with toys and things and very rarley packs up what he was playing with-it gets left up to me.I have to constantly keep my eye on him because he can be very rough with our sons and no on will discipline him.All this encourages our sons to do what he does and not listen to us which makes me parenting our two sons even more difficult as im stuggling being this pregnant. Now it might seem like i dont want them to stay which is not the case,he is just a handfull to have around for extended periods of time and as i will be giving birth two days after they are due to leave,i dont know how i will cope with all of it.My husband works very long ours and will really only have xmas day off so it will be pretty much me putting up with all the stress myself. If i was to discipline her son if he didnt follow our house rules the same as our sons i would be the worst person in the world. Not so much with his mother but with the grandparents as they have a huge role in his life as his real father was never really part of his life.Call it clash of parenting skills or what, they just do things very different to my husband and i and look down on you for being otherwise. I would love some advice .tips or anything to help me get through this holiday period which is all about family after all -without losing my sanity. more

Voting Question: Do I have a right to privacy while I am living at an extended stay motel?

My house was foreclosed on and my children and I have been living at an extended stay motel for about 2 months now. The management came to my door and even though the privacy sign was on, he opened the door. I was just coming out of the shower and I told him to come back later. He told me that he needs to inspect the room to make sure we are keeping it clean. Since we had nowhere to go, we have a lot of our possessions in the room. Such as home things, clothes, toys, etc. I just need to know if I have any rights at all? Does the management have the right to just enter my room at any time? Thank you for any information you can give me. more

Resolved Question: How safe is using WiFi?

I'm not really experienced computer tech type person. I just enjoy things like email, facebook, shopping, and banking on line. I'm in process of moving, and I'm staying in an extended stay place. Before I came here, at my previous home, I had high speed cable internet connection........but, in order to have internet here at this motel, I have to use WiFi. I had never used WiFi before, but they explained to me how to log on. I did the right click on the possible connections, and the only one that come up was one called "Goesh"??? But, when I typed in the motel's passcode, it worked, so it must be the right one, right?? The motel did have a passcode and it did say it was going to charge me a one time fee of $4.99 for using WiFi for my entire stay. I really like the convenience of using this WiFi, but I worry about security. Am I opening myself up for having my information stolen.....things like passwords or banking codes, etc???? What are my options? I do have Kapersky internet security program on my computer......does that protect me in a WiFi situation? Also, at my previous home, I used a wireless router or whatever so that my computer wasn't technically connected to the cable. Is this really any different? Was I vulnerable when I had a wireless cable connection before? Just wanted to understand if I'm risking anything and what I can do to help minimize that risk and protect myself. Thanks in advance for your help! Robin more

Resolved Question: Will my company let me rent a room?

I work for a company where part of the agreement is that I relocate for a year and the company will pay for an extended stay motel room (which is basically a dorm room). My manager now tells me that I may have to stay longer. Two other employees who are in the same boat as me proceeded to get an apartment after my manager forwarded the request to HR for approval. I asked to do the same but my manager told me that it would not be cost effective. Since then I have found a room to rent in a house with some very nice individuals that is very cost effective (Savings of over $300 per month). My Manager tells me that it is not a simple answer and he will have to run it by HR. My question is do you think this will get approved? If not what legal issues can there be? Thanks much for all who can give me advice. more

Voting Question: Is it a good decision to break friendship in this circumstance?

I (30/female) am in a terrible problem and I can't share it with anyone. Thought yahoo surfers can solve this. I used to stay in a different city for almost 5.1/2 years and made many good friends. One of those friends was very close to me. While I left the city, we still were very good friends. Meanwhile, he started mixing with other people there. Which makes sense to me because that time I was his closest one and since I am not in town anymore he needs other friends. Some days after I had a peculiar feeling that he got involved with one of his female friends and started over night staying frequently. While asked about it, he denied. But in every other words or actions it was evident that my guess was right. I thought it's a mistake I am making, everything is fine. Later, I, my friend and the other friend have decided a five day long trip. First night we spent in a motel and I saw and heard both of them getting close at night in a single bed. I felt nervous and felt my hands and legs are shivering and I could not sleep the whole night. Next day, I talked to the guy clearly and explained up to what extend my discomfort level was. I was really uncomfortable the whole day and could not enjoy the place we visited for the day long. The next night we stayed in a different motel and to my surprise the similar thing started at night. I felt really choked out and wanted to leave out of the situation at any cost. That was 2nd non-sleep night at a stretch and if it continues for three more nights it would make my trip miserable. I had a right to make proper use of my money and vacation. So I left the room and went to the motel front desk, rented a different car. (It was difficult, since I had no internet connection and that was a Sunday while almost all rental car locations in small cities are closed). But I was desperate to leave out of the situation. Next morning I talked to both of them, while both declined the fact that they were close. In that situation I felt it was best for me to leave. Because 1. It would make them more comfortable 2. I'll have a better vacation. 3. I was tired of continuous lies from my guy friend. Although I have lost the 'so called' good friends forever, I think this is a better judgement I could do with myself. What do you people say? more

Resolved Question: Should I extend my duties at work to incorporate 'miscellanous duties'?

I am a 33 year old female who has been divorced for 10 months. For the past 6 years, I was employed as a legal secretary at a gr8 place, but due to the current economic climate, was recently retrenched. This saddened me as I really loved my job and enjoyed the ppl I worked with. I signed up with a temping agency, who found me a 6 week assignment at a law firm, whilst their regular employee was on leave. My role was working for one of the newly appointed, senior partners. On my first day there, it was hectic, but due to my experience, felt that I coped quite well. It was also in the back of my mind that I would need to do this role well, if I wanted any future work with this agency. My boss was a quite nice looking man in his early 50's. He treated me well. The culture of the office was unlike my last job, as all of the legal secretaries there were in their early to mid 50's, & it seemed as if I was the youngest secretary there. After about a week, I took some calls from the wife of my boss, I noticed her abruptness over the phone. The other staff informed me that her abruptness was 'typical', and I wasn't to feel bad about it. Noticing that my boss was on the phone one day taking a call from his wife, I quietly began to move out of the office, but he motioned for me to stay. He became very 'compliant', I noticed, whilst speaking to her "yes dear, no dear, anything you say dear'. After he put the phond down, he looked at & sighed. I just smiled back. This seemed to 'break the ice' between us and the next day, he invited me out to lunch with some other colleagues (law partners) of his. It was then that I started noticing him payig me compliments - eg how I dressed, how my tone of voice over the phone was fluid & wonderful, and what a gr8 worker I was. I was very flattered by his attention and knew that it would get back to the temping agency. Then, one day when near a lift, I accidently dropped my cell phone, and we both 'dived' for it, narrowly missing our heads. We both laughed, but I couldn't help noticing that he was peering down my shirt, which, due to my recent weight loss, is slightly too baggy for me. It was after this incident, that I noticed him 'eyeing' me up and down, whenever I came near him. Now, just so you don't get any wrong ideas, I don't wear seductive clothing to work, just business like clothing, however, I do enjoy wearing very, very, high stilettos, which he remarked on one day, a comment like:"How do you walk in those things?", I just laughed. One day during after a meeting in which I took the minutes, I asked him a question, after everyone had left & he reassuringly, placed his hand on my thigh. I wasn't fazed by this, as I felt he was a gr8 boss. On my last day, some of the secretaries organised some drinks after work, and we (including my boss), went to the local bar for "Happy Hour". We partied on for a few hours, then most left, except for my boss. We began to talk & chat. Now, I know this may sound stupid, but I am worried about my economic status, as a single woman without a regular income & a mortgage. I felt my boss was 'hitting' on me, and although I've never done this before, suggested we get a motel room. I then told him, what I thought was an appropriate amount of money to be exchanged for a full service, and, to my amazement, he agreed!! We walked to a nearby motel room, & he paid with his Gold Amex Card. Once in the room, after we had ordered some champagne, I removed my clothes, his clothes, & began to kiss him. He became aroused quickly, and we 'did the deed'. He was so relieved that tears welled up in his eyes as he came. We were on the bed, facing a mirror, & rather than being repulsed, I actually felt very, very, powerful and in control. Afterwards, he assisted me to reach climax by performing fellatio. I felt wonderful, and I made about 1.5 day's wages, in 2 hours! We spoke afterwards, & he informed me that it was the greatest sex he'd had in 15 years, that his wife had refused him sex for 10 years, and although initially would, give him a hand/ b job, hadn't for close to 8 years. He'd been getting by simply by using his hand & porn. He then made wonderful comments on my technique, my body (still firm), my pelvice floor muscles, (tight), my hair, etc and I felt, once again, powerful. He even stated that he enjoyed the way I kissed him, as his wife had long ago ceased to french-kiss him passionately. He even stated that she had never allowed him to pleasure her & would physically 'push' him away, which I fail to understand - surely, receiving this from a man is a gift? He then informed me that he was only in the marriage due to his kids & of what he could lose, financially. Now, I understand all the lies, etc, men will say & would never, want a relationship with this man, however, as I explained, I just saw an opportunity, which had been building up for weeks, to use his attraction & sexual neediness to my advantage. He thenPlease, I need serious answers - I feel a bit wrong for doing this. more

Resolved Question: How bad will this turn out?!? Break Lease early?

Heres my situation. Im on waiting list for an income based apartment. it could be 3-6 months before i get into it. In the meantime im staying with a friend and splitting rent/utilities. The problem is that this person im stayign with is an absolute slob, drinks too much, and let two strays in that pee and poo everywhere and he deosnt care. I simply DONT live like that and im teribly miserable. I have NO where else to stay other than with him and contemplated an extended stay motel or sumthin but its wayyyy too expensive. My question is, if i move into an apartment complex with a 6 or 12 month lease and break it the moment i can get into the apartment i was waiting for, what are the repercussions? I realize they will keep the deposit which is only $100. But if i leave and everything is is perfect condition, will they be able to take me to court? if They do will it be on my "record" that apartment complexes run? There wont be any eviction or anything so would that show up in the future? I KNOW THIS ISNT HONEST OR COMPLETELY RIGHT, but im desperate and have no other options. I have enough money to get by without income based hosuing for a few months, but im just a poor fulltime student who got layed off frm my jobs. I got a full ride scholarship and im living off student loans which i know sint wise. But thats why im gettin income based housing! Thanks soooo much for ANY help.btw im in Indiana more

Resolved Question: Hotels in Castlemaine, VIC Australia (near Melbourne)?

I'm an American who will be staying in Castlemaine for three weeks in July this year. I'm traveling there for work with three colleagues and we are trying to find a nice place to stay. I know there are many B&B's and motels in this area, but we need something that will be comfortable by American standards for an extended stay. We normally stay at Hilton hotels or similar. Right now we are planning on staying at the Empyre Hotel unless someone can suggest something better. We don't mind driving up to 45 minutes away for a nice place. If you live in this area or have ever stayed in Castlemaine or at the Empyre hotel, I'd love your help. I realize this is not a good time to be asking this with the tragic bushfires that happening. I hope that everyone and their families stay safe. There are no Hilton Hotels or we would be staying there! Melbourne is a 2 hr drive from Castlemaine and this is not a feasible commute for us. more

Resolved Question: What do you think about this person

(CNN) -- A Nevada man who reportedly poisoned himself with ricin in his Las Vegas motel room pleaded guilty Monday to possession of a biological toxin, prosecutors said. Authorities found ricin and an anarchist manual in Roger Von Bergendorff's Nevada hotel room. Authorities found ricin and an anarchist manual in Roger Von Bergendorff's Nevada hotel room. Roger Bergendorff, 57, who was hospitalized for two months with suspected ricin poisoning, also pleaded guilty to possession of unregistered firearms. Ricin is a toxic byproduct of processing castor beans for oil and is capable of killing body cells. "Used improperly, ricin can be a very dangerous and deadly weapon," said U.S. Attorney Greg Brower in Nevada. "Fortunately, in this case, the ricin is not believed to have caused any harm to the public." Bergendorff, who was living at the Extended Stay America Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, knowingly possessed ricin in February for an "unjustified purpose," according to court documents. At the time, Bergendorff also possessed a .22 caliber pistol with an unregistered silencer attached, as well as a second unregistered silencer. Neither of the silencers were registered to Bergendorff, authorities said. Bergendorff was hospitalized on February 14 complaining of breathing difficulties. Two weeks later, his cousin, Thomas Tholen, 54, of Riverton, Utah, discovered the toxin when he went to recover Bergendorff's belongings from his hotel room. Authorities also said a search of the room found guns, the book "Anarchist's Cookbook," a collection of instructions on poisons and other dangerous recipes and castor beans, syringes and beakers. Bergendorff previously lived in Tholen's home. After the discovery of the ricin, the FBI searched the home as well as storage units Bergendorff used in Utah. Authorities said FBI agents searching the storage units found castor beans, chemicals used in the production of ricin, a respirator, filters, laboratory glassware, syringes and a notebook on ricin production. Tholen has pleaded not guilty to charges he knew his cousin was producing ricin and failed to report it to federal authorities. Bergendorff is scheduled to be sentenced November 3. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 on each count. Prosecutors have recommended a sentence of 37 months in prison. more

Voting Question: Interested in building a small hotel in SW Austin, how much capital do I need and what do I need to know?

I am interested in opening a small hotel in Southwest Austin. With the amount of growth in Circle-C and surrounding areas it always startled me that the only hotels in business are the La Quinta and Extended Stay America near MOPAC and 290, the new Holiday Inn Express in Sunset Valley and the old Texas Motel. With the hundreds of residence in Circle-C, plus Freescale and now AMD moving in, it seems like accomidations are a massive shortage. I would like to capitalize on this, does anyone know what it takes in terms of required capital, seeking approval from the county, etc. I am thinking 290 West in Hayse county or closer in to the "Y" in Oak Hill. more

Resolved Question: What is the Pier called in Myrtle Beach that you can by gifts and have your pitcher taken in a western scene?

It does not extend out to the ocean, It runs parrellel to the street. I know it as the boardwalk and it is in the heart of the grand strand. It has an arcade in it and even an beer joint on the street side I think. I cannot find it anywhere online and I need to know the addrees or at motels around it. I am planning a beach trip and I want to stay near it. It use to be across the street from the old pavillion, but since it is no longer there, that does not help me. Does anyone know where I am talking about?? There is a club with dancing at the end on top of it and it ends in an alley where The bowery use to be ( where Alabama played when they got famous), but it is gone as well. Is the board walk even still there?? Can anyone help me?The Bowery was the bar where Alabama sang before getting famous Broadway at the Beach is not even at the beach. it is where Ripleys Equiarium and shoppin areas are Thanks anyway guys more

Resolved Question: can i refuse to rent a room if it is believes that guest has contagous illness?

Im a motel Manager and it was brought to my attention that a guest was suffering from staff infection. It was the guest himself who told me. Knowing this i informed the guest that they could not extend thier stay and had to check out. I told guest that if they brought me a doctors note saying he was not contagous, i would allow to rent. They did this, and i rented to them once again. The problem is that a friend of thiers called me to basically tell me that i was wrong and that under some penal code i had no right to refuse service. She is threatening a law suit. Is she right? Should i be concerned? more

Resolved Question: If you and your ex-spouse go on a road trip with the kids and get two motel rooms, who sleeps where?

This was an issue tonight in the Motel 6 we're staying in. (We're in Central Florida to visit a family party tomorrow on my ex-wife's side, and we had both felt it was best that I came along to help supervise the kids considering some of the characters in her rednecky extended family.) Somehow, the reservation got all screwed up, and, while we did get two adjoining rooms, only one has two beds while the other has just a king bed. There were no other adjoining rooms left in this, uh, establishment. There's not event wi-fi -- I'm hooked up to a wire right now at what appears to be a desk of sorts. My ex-wife thought that it would be better for my son and daughter to have the room with two beds, and Claire and myself would have to share the king bed. My view was that the kids are both under 10 and under 90 pounds -- they'd definitely have enough separation in the one big bed. Or, Claire could share the king bed with our daughter."That's not good for her emotional development," my wife said. So, after much whining from the kids and Claire, the kids have their own beds and room, and I will be joining Claire shortly in hers. Currently, she is flipping the channels on the PPV, laughing about some of the more adult titles, such as "Curious Amateurs: In Through the Out Door, vol. 3." Should I just have stayed in a third room? I mean, they're only $27.95 a night! more

Resolved Question: Help - I need to stay in Central Texas for 1 week!?

Okay so my family needs to visit several awesome universities/colleges in the Great state of Texas to help my daughter decide where to go to college. I will need to visit Austin, San Antonio, Waco, College Station, Houston, Dallas & Ft.Worth. I have just about decided to stay in an extended stay hotel probably in Austin. I want to stay somewhere inexpensive ( 50 to 75 per night max for 5 days ) but somewhere I don't have to worry about my vehicle being safe, etc. I understand to avoid east Austin - it seems like Round Rock is an Austin Suburb and very safe? Can anybody offer any suggestions? I have already looked at extended stay motel websites - but obviously they don't answer the questions I really need answered. If there is somewhere else you would recommend - please advise. Any help would be highly appreciated! more

Resolved Question: Any great ideas on how to avoid the house guests who invited themselves?

I posted a question on this before, but now I need follow up. In short 2 guests from England, helpless. expecting to be entertained by me for two weeks. My husband is home and is doing the bulk of this as they are his friends. I personally never met them until last week. I do not care for them, hate the fact that they are a burden, and am quite sick of toting them around. It's insane, my poor husband who is disabled is forced to drive these retards around showing them the sites.. including driving them out to state last weekend to show them the big hole in the the ground.. ( grand canyon) Now.. they asked if we can take them to Mexico for the weekend. I said, you know what? I can't afford that, and I don't have the ablility to do so as I am working. That helped them get off there bums and arrange a bus.. Last night I came home and they wanted to go to the local bar and I said, go ahead, walk.. I am going to bed, and I did . I was tired after a 12 hour work day. 30 minutes ago - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details 27 minutes ago So, me being rude and leaving them to fend on thier own I do belive sent a message. 2 weeks of constant entertainment by a couple of burdens is a huge favor to ask of anyone. I have been able to excuse myself tonight by claiming I have a dinner meeting after work so that will allow me ot come in late and not have to entertain. I have to get this weekend covered... I was actually thinking of telling them my office is sending me to Northern Cali to assist with the new office .. I could pack up and go stay at the local extended stay motel... nobody would be the wiser.. lol Seriously, does anyone have any great ideas on how I can excuse myself from this Brittish invasion> ?? 13 minutes ago *** I forgot to add that the guy who is a friend of my husband invited himself and then sprung on us that he was bringing his girlfriend, so that was rude to begin with. They are alcoholics who are drinking up a storm and actually asked me where they can score some "weed" locally. SO THAT DOES MAKE THINGS A BIT DIFFERENT NOW DOESN't IT?? Report It more
