Florida Airports Questions asked

Resolved Question: Day Trip To The Bahamas?

I'm going to be down in Florida this summer, and I'll be taking my checkout flight in a Cessna 182, so I figured I might as well take a day trip out to the Bahamas. Which airports should I look at flying into? more

Resolved Question: How to own a small business in Texas but not live there?

I live in another state and its very unfriendly towards businesses and taxes. I know Texas has a really good economy, its the second most populous state, taxes are low and operation costs are cheap compared to the national average. Although the cost of living sounds very attractive I don't think I could live there myself. The summers are too brutal and the culture is just too different for me. I plan to live in Washington state but expand my small businesses in Texas and Florida. Is it possible to own a small business outside of your state such as a store I don't mind visiting the state but not live there?@ Teekno: I WANT to operate business in Texas but I do NOT want to live there, is it still possible? and Washington state has no state income tax as well. more

Resolved Question: In your word's, what is your favorite breed of dog?

Please do not answer just the breed. Put a story behind it, or your personal experience. I shall go first. My fave breed are the English Bulldogs. They are so loving and adorable. I remember holding my previous bulldog in my arms when I was four and she was 9 weeks. She was so loving, but she always wore that grumpy face! They are full of love and are hilarious little characters.I love mutt's. I have one now. She is a Staffie cross Whippet and we rescued her from some people who where moving to Australia. We also rescued a Pure bred Staffie from the pound. He was found tied up in the forest. =(Border Collie's seem like really smart dogs. I played with some puppies when I was at a farm. I was six. I don't think I would be able give all that exercise to one dog. I prefer the 'plodders' like Staffies and Bulldogs.I have heard of Leonbergers. They look massive. I bet hugging one would be like cuddling a massive grizzly bear. =3 more

Resolved Question: Boyfriend just got a new full time job, but already have a vacation paid for and planned?

My boyfriend goes to a vocational high school and he's graduating in a couple months, he just landed a a co-op job in the city working at a restaurant. It isn't the exact job of what he wants to do with culinary, but he has his own station so working at a restaurant is a really great start for trying to get closer to his exact field that he really wants to work in. The pay is really good and it's a step up from where he was working throughout high school which was a grocery store. However, he just landed the job about a week and a half ago. And about 4 months ago, him and I booked a 4 night cruise in July...however his job doesn't allow vacation unless you've been working the job for at least 6 months. They are letting him go on vacation, but they won't give him a full week (ok, thats fine, because it was only 4 days anyways) but we planned to spend an extra day or 2 in florida when the ship comes back to the port, since it's only 4 days. I just have a huge feeling that his job is literally having him fly out, board the ship on the same day, go on the cruise for a couple days and as soon as the ship gets back to the port, we have to go straight to the airport. (i'm NOT saying this is what they want...but I have a huge feeling thats what they may push..) and i honestly feel like it's not right feeling rushed, yes I understand that they never allow vacation unless you've been working at least 6 months, but i'd like at least a day off the ship before flying home, at least make it 5-6 days, it's not a full week. Problems him and I are both facing is this: Him and i already have been saving so much for this trip and him and i have been looking forward to this and we plan to do it, it's just we don't want to feel like we have to rush right back home...not really fair. He mentioned this to them a week ago, so it was as soon as he started that he notified them about it, they have only said that they will get back to him about it.......but thats not giving us an answer because the longer they make us wait...the closer the vacation will be when we have to book the flight and the prices will be even more expansive... and i hear that it's a bit more expansive if your not doing a vacation that is a full week..sometimes airfare is a little pricier. ....I just don't want to be paying for a plane ticket thats becoming more expansive than the cruise itself....... What do we do, any advice or anyone with similar experience? No rude answers please, thank you!I'm really not asking to get a lecture.....isn't yahoo answers all about advice and not just criticism? I've even looked online at different forums and such with other people that have been in the same similar boat that him and i are in, and this question does come up a lot...which is simply "what do you do when you switch jobs, but already have a vacation paid for and ready to go?" The kid has been already busting his ass for this job, pretty much always works 9-12 hour work days, very strong work ethic. This is a question for the BOTH of us on terms of what do people do in these certain situations? What have other people's experiences have been? Honestly, he's not going to get paid for the week that we need to take off, but the money's really good besides that...thats why he took it. more

Resolved Question: does a 14 year old need an adult at the airport?

I'm 14 and my dad is sending me to Florida from new york to visit my mum. When I was thirteen I was on the plane as an unaccompanied minor but my mum told me that when you turn 14 you can fly by yourself. Also, will I need an adult to escort me when I'm checking in? more

Resolved Question: Arizona Residents: Can you please tell me what the weather is like in the winter and summer?

I am a soon-to-be graduate in the Midwest, and I am searching for a city to relocate. A couple of weeks ago I began considering Tucson, and ever since people have been telling me how HOT it is in the summer. I am from Louisiana, so I'm used to the heat and humidity. I realize southern Arizona is dry. So can you please tell me exactly what it's like? If I am considering taking public transportation and owning a Vespa, will that be a mistake in the summer? Thank you! more

Resolved Question: Does the government of Florida impose height restrictions on any high rise buildings?

Considering that the state gets pummeled nearly every year by hurricanes would the state impose a height restriction? It seems Miami, the most prone, has a TON of high rises, does the city have a height limit? Just curious because of all the wind that would blow against them, especially if they're tall and thin. more

Resolved Question: How much would you pay for an all inclusive vacation?

Ok I know all this is far fetched, its for a homework assignment so don't get all nit picky about the details. I am just looking for a general idea of how much to charge. Ok so for this project we have to plan a vacation spot and figure out how much to charge and how long it would take to make a profit...all that stuff. I am just asking how much you would pay. Ok the details are: A couples retreat on an island off the coast of Florida. Its an American owned island. Each couple stays in a private hut with a King Size bed. There are 5 huts in a pod, each pod has an out side area with a hot tub that seats 10. There are 5 pods so with full booking there would only be 50 people at the resort at a time. Meals are served buffet style at certain times, all food and drinks including liqueur are included in the price. Activates included are dancing, horse back riding, sail boating, snorkeling, surfing, a tour of the area etc. Additional charges for water skiing, parasailing, etc. Arrive is at 4pm Sunday and checkout is on Saturday at 12pm. Couples only, 21 and up. I didn't come up with all this it is a group project for school. Please tell me what you would pay per couple and any suggestions. Thanks more

Voting Question: How to get my parents to give me permission to travel?

I am 18 years old and have not been allowed to travel anywhere by myself or with friends my entire life. I am not even allowed to sleep over. This year has been particular difficult because of University and work. My parents and sister went to florida twice this year (we are canadian). So this summer I am working and also part time in school. I really need a vacation and need to see my boyfriend (in florida that they do not know about, we have met before obviously, and I'd be staying with him.. he is 25). I am able to pay for this trip and a ride to the airport all by myself. I don't need their help or money at all. I would say I am going with friends to florida and keep them updated about my safety throughout the trip. However, they will not give me permission to go on this trip. How do I go about going? If I go without their wishes, I will be kicked out of the house with my phone and laptop and food and all personal belongings taken away. If I stay, I will go crazy because I desperately need to go to florida. I really need help. more

Resolved Question: What do I need to do in order to tour America?

Im looking at touring America next year, probably starting in Florida (have family out there) and then hitting route 66 to the end (or the other way round, whichever flights work out cheaper)! I will be 21 and going with a friend. As far as I know I will need Flights and a car to hire, Visa, spending money etc. I'm looking to spend around 6-8 weeks there. I just want all the information I can gather in order to make sure i'm going to be safe both health and financially, so any past experiences/websites/books will be great! PS, would it be worth paying a bit more for a campervan or just staying in hostels. Thanks in Advance!Forgot to add, I am from the UK not the USA, more

Resolved Question: A good shuttle/taxi for south beach Florida?

My group is flying into Fort Lauderdale airport. We are trying to decide if we will be taking a taxi or renting a car. If we rent a car it would be $700, because we needed a seven seater minivan or SUV. The taxi seem like a better option, because from what I found online everything is it within walking distance if you have a hotel on South Beach which we do. Can anyone recommend a good shuttle or taxi service we would really appreciate that so we can look and compare rates to decide which would actually fit our group better? more

Resolved Question: Six Flags or Universal Studios in California?

This summer I am looking for a vacation for my birthday. It would be three people traveling: me (16), my friend (16), and my godmother (adult lol). We don't live in California, actually on the other coast, so we would need plane tickets, as well as a hotel. We are trying to save as much money as possible, but we also want to have fun. Would Six Flags Magic Mountain or Universal Studios Hollywood be a better choice? Also, which park would cost less money and which would be better for us (two girls who love roller coasters)? We want to spend at least 5 days, however we wouldn't go to the park everyday maybe only 2 or 3. Also, where should I look for flight and hotel prices? more

Resolved Question: Planning a vacation for my parents.. need help...?

I'm planning a surprise vacation for my parents 25th wedding anniversary, I am not sure where to... Aruba, Bermuda, Dominican Republic, Florida Keys, not really sure. I would appreciate if anyone has vacationed to any of those places to share your experience, if it was negative or positive, and which travel agency you used to book the hotels and car rental. Please, and thank you so much! more

Resolved Question: Can you help me with something that pretty much determines the future of my family?

It all comes down to my mother. A few months ago, she started talking to this guy(Who I thought lived in Italy), but he lives in California. She said that she's going to visit her cousin in California, BUT he got a new job and moved to Florida. She hasn't been paying much attention to anybody in my family( Me, dad, brother and sisters), she's just glued to her phone texting this guy, she started to wear make-up, sudden weight loss and started to buy newer clothes. I believe she's going to California to cheat on my dad and lose everything.......How can I confront her? Tell her now, tonight, in a note or the night I drive her to the airport. I have no clue in the world, my sister and cousin noticed her acting wired also. I know it's none of my business but....I don't want my family to fall apart. more

Resolved Question: Which theme park in florida is best?

Okay so me and my family are going to florida and we are going to Disneyworld for 10 days and universal studios for 4-5 days and we are also touring florida. Heres what we're doing at the moment 7th August- flight from London to Orlando or Miami and then check into the hotel in Orlando universal 8th-universal studios 9th- universal studios 10th-universal studios 11th universal studios 12th leave universal studios and go to miami and check into the hotel  13th- Miami 14th- leave Miami and go to key west 15th-key west 16th-key west  17th-drive to Tampa going through the everglades 18th- busch gardens and then staying in a hotel or motel 19th- maybe driving to Disneyworld and then going there or going to gaterland and then driving to Disneyworld. 20th- Disney world 21st- disney world 22nd-Disney world 23rd-Disney world 24th-Disney world 25th-Disney world 26th-disney world 27th-Disney world 28th-Disney world 29th-Disney world 30th-flights from Orlando or Miami back to London   So what I wanted to ask is is Busch Gardens really good or should we Go sea world or somewhere else and is gaterland good or should we just have an extra day in Disneyworld. P.s. I know we are doing a lot but my parents don't exacually love Florida but I have always wanted to go America and Florida to my dad is the 2nd best state (behind Las Vegas) so he said if we go America we should go Florida so as my parents won't really want to go again we are trying to pack as much into this holiday as possible. (Don't worry they don't mind going Florida as my dad has been before and loves Disneyworld and my mum loved Disney land paris and said Disney world would be amazing to go to and also my dad and sister love tanning and always have competitions on who goes the brownist, my dad has a head start lol, so we are going key west for a few days so they can lie on the beach and fan lol.) The only thing I'm dreading is the flights and the 1100 mile bridge to key west as we are going right to the end. Many thanks. more

Resolved Question: If I book delta plane tickets at a different time than my guardians, do I have to pay that $100 minors fee?

I've decided that I'm flying down to sunny Florida this summer. I'm 13 and the reason I didn't fly Delta last time I went to Florida is because of that $100 unaccompanied minors fee both ways. A week before I fly down, my grandparents will be flying up from there and spending a week up here, in New York. When they go home, I'm going back down with them out of LaGuardia airport flying Delta. Problem is, they booked back in Feburary and I'm booking whenever I get the money to do so. I don't want to end up flying a different airline than my grandparents just to meet them at the same airport. We'd also have to juggle driving my grandparents to LaGuardia in the middle of the day, which is a 1 and a half hour ride in good traffic, and then driving back to Islip Airport and dropping me off to fly Southwest, all of that to avoid a $100 fee. I can not fly Southwest out of LaGuardia that day because there aren't any nonstop flights and I can't fly with layovers. TL;DR my grandparents booked their Delta flight at a different time than me, a minor, do I have to pay that $100 minors fee? more

Resolved Question: Is Embry-Riddle worth the cost for an aviation related degree?

I'm 15, and looking into my college opportunities. I live in Central Florida, so ERAU Daytona Beach campus is not far from my home town at all. I also live very close to UCF. UCF would save me in a bunch of debt. But I would like to become a commercial pilot when I'm older(although recently I've been looking into air traffic control). Voting Question: Injustice, false arrest coming to Miami, Florida homeless now?

It was only a matter of time before Miami, which sees itself as the greatest thing in the U.S. right now, with 18+ million people going through airport (read it this morning on free local newspaper and haven't researched it yet), and seeing that more Brazilians, Argentinians and Venezuelans are pouring their money into the depressed house market here, would want to go against the thousands of homeless--many of which are U.S. war veterans--and now the city is going to federal court to try overturning a law. I have a feeling, being the U.S. what it is right now, that the city will get its wish and those poor people will be more than harassed. Many more Americans are losing their jobs and their minds along with the foreclosure, bankruptcies and all the opportunities which are going out the door, especially if they already have mental issues, so it's only logical more and more men end up on the streets. The federal government appears to be there only to raise taxes sky high (can't understand what they do with so many billions of dollars!!!) and Americans keep losing their rights. Please don't laugh: Is there any provision in the United Nations which says something against the abuse and harassment of homeless people? http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/04/11/3339297/miami-to-go-to-federal-court-to.html@YAHOO USER, we in the U.S. have been taught to think everyone is the same & have same rights, and specially that everyone reacts same way to everything. NOT TRUE. Hundreds of thousand Veterans are fighting mental illness (we don't talk only Iraq, Afghanistan), remember Vietnam Vets? Eventually all get disability or other help, but mental illness keeps them out of home & out of normal life always, ending up in streets.I wonder why Americans are so AFRAID to talk about homelessness; does it remind them of India, Mexico, undeveloped countries? Anyone in the U.S. can be homeless, just by turning the wrong corner anywhere in life. Let's not be afraid, let's face this issue! more

Resolved Question: Sites where I can get an airplane ticket and switch the return airport?

Basically, I'm leaving Tampa, FL and visiting family in Indianapolis. When I leave Indy, I need to fly back to North Carolina. I am wondering if there is an efficient site that will allow me to create that kind of route. Priceline.com only lets me make it a round trip and that returns me to Florida rather than pick a different return airport. more

Resolved Question: What would you say to your cousin at the airport?

I was visiting my relatives in Florida for Easter, and went back home to Indiana last Saturday. My cousin (11 year old boy) really didn't want me to leave. At the airport, he was crying and he said to me, "Won't I ever see you again? Please don't get on the plane.". It had been about 4 years since we saw each other last. He said he would not allow separate menus in public cafeterias or separate hours in swimming pools for men and women to satisfy Muslims' demands, and also said he would firmly support France's ban on the face-covering Islamic veils. -1/26/13 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2267515/Baroness-Warsi-Fewer-people-think-Islam-compatible-British-life.html#ixzz2J4efOEht: “Fewer than one in four people think Islam is compatible with British life, faith minister warns.” -4/8/13 http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/news/state-regional-govt-politics/bill-banning-sharia-law-in-florida-family-cases-pa/nXGXF/: Bill banning Shariah law in Florida family cases passes Senate panel A federal court struck down an Oklahoma amendment banning courts from relying on Shariah law. Unlike the Oklahoma law, the Florida proposal does not mention Shariah law. A similar law went into effect in Kansas last year. ------------ In 1995 there were 36 million Internet users. Today there are 2.4 billion (http://www.internetworldstats.com/), of which 88% are non-Muslims. 11/21/08 Zogby poll: The web [non-existent 20 years ago] is the most trusted news medium in America, over TV and print combined. more

Resolved Question: What is the best car rental company at MSY (New Orleans) airport?

I will be flying into New Orleans and need to rent a car to drive to Florida. I have AAA, which gives me a discount on Hertz and doesn't charge for a second driver...but I hear they hassle their customers (this info came from an insurance adjuster). Some other car rental companies at MSY include Avis, Enterprise, Alamo, and Budget. I've heard that some of these companies are more expensive and charge for a second driver. Also, I want to be able to pick up my rental car right away at the airport, rather than take a shuttle bus to an off-site location, but am not sure what the setup is at MSY. If you have ever rented a car from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, please let me know what the experience was like! Thanks!"Chris H.," I have taught 4th grade geography, so I, too, know that New Orleans, Louisiana is not located in Florida. I have family in Gulfport, Mississippi, which is not far from MSY. more

Resolved Question: When is the best time to visit the USA?

We're going to visit family at Long Island, New York. Our itinerary may include Las Vegas, Cali, Florida, Washington and Hawaii (we're not sure yet). It will be for about 3 weeks. I want to avoid USA school breaks and any major holidays (so is not too crowded) but I still want it to be warm. I was thinking early May? Please let me know your thoughts.PS: I also meant to say we're going next year. more

Resolved Question: Price of FLto Indio, CA rideshare?

I've hitched back and forth across the country, but have no experience with planning ahead and committing to a ride share. I would like to know what would be a fair amount of money to pitch in for a ride share from Wildwood, FL to Indio, CA; a guesstimate or any relevant advice would be just as nice --thank you for any help!A Hunch:Yes, I'm quite aware of where Indio is. However, that is not my final destination, Slab City is, even further out in the wastes, and where the tempurature gets down to 103F at night (so please don't rag on me about temp like I'm some yuppie). Furthermore, I have checked out the price of a Coachella ticket, and want nothing to do with that obscene consumerism. And I've already found a potential CL ride, I just want to be enlightened on how to split the gas bill. You're answer wasn't helpful at all, rather insulting and besides the point; you assume too much.~ Bris more
