Los Angeles Angels Questions asked

Open Question: Can anyone tell me what they think about this?

I DONT UNDERSTAND------- 25th of June Michael Jackson passed away at the age of 50 as most of you, by now are well aware of. Upon hearing that news of his death my first reaction was and still is that he did not die a natural death. The 21st of November in 2008 it became publicly known that Michael Jackson said theShahada and changed his name from Michael to Mikaeel after one of Allah's (SWT) angels and thus became a muslim. It was reported that Al-Qaeda has, through Sheikh Ayman Al-Zawahiri, warmly welcomed Michael Jackson into the Islamic faith (as they would any sincere new adherent) and are confident that this high profile conversion will prove to be the turning point whereby millions of young Americans, already disillusioned by the economic crisis that is sapping Americas confidence will turn to the Qur’an for inspiration. While at the same time, the Sheikh referred to Obama as a "house negro". If Michael Jackson is a good muslim or bad muslim, Allah (SWT) knows best. That’s besides the story. But some people believe that Mikaeel (Michael) Jackson is a martyr as he has been killed as a result of a complicated conspiracy. We note that a Muslim cleric has already warned Mikaeel (Michael) Jackson about this conspiracy. What this post is going to highlight is the “dirty tricks” played by the evil enemies of Islam, particularly the Judeo-Christian who will never be pleased with Islam. We pray for our Muslim Brother Mikaeel (Michael) Jackson. May Allah (SWT) forgive all Muslims including Mikaeel Jackson. Michael Jackson (MJ) was known as the most loving person in the world. He gave up most of his assets for charity and all his life, he fought for equality of the African Americans, AIDS victims, Against Drug Abuse, Against Abortion, Against Child Labor and secretly channelled his properties for the hungry children of the world. However, he wasn't peace at heart. He always think of himself as a child trapped inside a man's body. Being Peter Pan is all his dream, never to grow up, forever a child. That inspires him to build Neverland - a heaven for children. Children of all ages and races are welcomed to Neverland. MJ had so much love to give. However, he made a mistake which he didn't know of the consequences. He saw the peaceful life his brother, Jermaine (Muhammad Abdul Aziz) had as a Muslim - true, Jermaine faced so much pressure that he moved to Bahrain. In 1989, MJ made a press conference which shocked the world, "I have seen the Islam in the life of my brother, I have read the books about Islam. And I'd love to someday feel the calmness and peace of Islam...." Since that, MJ's life was never the same again. He was accused of so many accusations against child molestation. MJ was not someone who can deal with much pressure as he is a 'delicate child'. All the extortion and black mail followed after that. Everything he did was being seen as wrong in the eyes of the Media. All these are to influence his fans to hate MJ. If he is hated, then he would not be influencial anymore. For several years, he stayed in England. Getting motivation from a long time friend, Cat Stevens, who had converted into Islam - named Yusuf Islam. From him, MJ learnt how Yusuf had survived being Muslim. He made friends with a song writer, Zain Bhikha too, who wrote a song titled, "GIVE THANKS TO ALLAH", which he wanted MJ to sing whenever he is ready. Following his trial, MJ withdrew to Bahrain, where he was the special guest of sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the son of Bahrain’s king. It was then that Michael began to give conversion more “serious thought.” MJ stayed in Bahrain for approximately 3 years. He studied Islam, the prayers and learn to read the Koran (al-Quran). Finally, he came back to Los Angeles and in November 2008 MJ had formally converted to Islam in a ceremony at a close friend’s house in Los Angeles. He perform Haj with the King of Bahrain and son on December 2008. He had a hidden agenda when he wanted to make a final comeback. He annouced in a press conference on March 2009, "This will be my final concert. I'll see you all in July...." He planned that during his concert, he would announce that this is the FINAL concert as he wouldn't be performing anymore. He will declare that he is a Muslim and will only sing with Yusuf Islam and Friends. At the end of the concert, he will be singing the song, "GIVE THANKS TO ALLAH" with Yusuf Islam. That is the reason why he chose London as his final concert venue instead of the USA. It was because he thought he could escape the USA's extortion, and that he could perform with yusuf Islam who is in England. At 12.30am, 25th June 2009, he hugged his production manager and said,"After reherasing for 2 months, I am finally ready for the concert..." Before leaving to sleep, he waved his dancers, "It was a good night everyone. I'll see you all tomorrow..." The next thing... He was pronouced dead at 2.26am.... more

Resolved Question: Baseball survey of tomorrow.... today (lol)!!: In this situation...?

Okay. I'm going to give you a situation and you will say what YOU'D (out of you own opinion) do. When you must pick a player, make sure that player is on your team. Let's go: 1. Name your favorite team please. (sorry, I know it gets repetitive.) 2. One of your starting pitchers is getting released. Who do you let loose? 3. A trade deal was done with one of the Los Angeles teams. Which team do you trade with, Angels or Dodgers? Who do you send and who do you get? **Note: doesn't have to be reasonable but both players must be starting position players, not backups or pitchers. 4. Your favorite outfielder signed somewhere new (assume their contract was over). Who is it? Where would you you want them to go and why? 5. Your favorite infielder just signed with the rival team. What team did they go to? Who left? How do you react? 6. Bottom of the 9th, down by one run, person on 3rd, 2 outs... Who do you want up to bat? 7. Game 7 of the World Series. Who do you pick to pitch?! --------------------------------------------- BQs: 1.Who are you 3 favorite players in the other league besides there team? If your team is in the AL, pick your 3 fave NL players. NL team fans pick 3 AL players. 2. Who can guess my 3 favorite NL players? **Hint, one is easily found on my profile page.Shiningstar, "Noooo, come back Jacoby!" hahahaha. Couldn't say it better myself! I'd probably cry too if Pedroia joined the Yankees (i'm such a wuss, lol!! ...not really. but it would just be so insane!!) more

Resolved Question: Can someone help me analize this poem?

English:Only Death There are lone cemeteries, tombs filled with soundless bones, the heart passing through a tunnel dark, dark, dark; like a shipwreck we die inward like smothering in our hearts, like slowly falling from our skin to our soul. There are corpses, there are feet of sticky, cold gravestone, there is death in the bones, like a pure sound, like a bark without a dog, coming from certain bells, from certain tombs, growing in the dampness like teardrops or raindrops. I see alone, at times, coffins with sails weighing anchor with pale corpses, with dead-tressed women, with bakers white as angels, with pensive girls married to notaries; coffins going up the vertical river of the dead, the dark purple river, upward, with the sails swollen by the sound of death, swollen by the silent sound of death. To resonance comes death like a shoe without a foot, like a suit without a man, she comes to knock with a stoneless and fingerless ring, she comes to shout without mouth, without tongue, without throat. Yet her steps sound and her dress sounds, silent as a tree. I know little, I am not well acquainted, I can scarcely see, but I think that her song has the color of moist violets, of violets accustomed to the earth, because the face of death is green, and the gaze of death is green, with the sharp dampness of a violet and its dark color of exasperated winter. But death also goes through the world dressed as a broom, she licks the ground looking for corpses, death is in the broom, it is death’s tongue looking for dead bodies, it is death’s needle looking for thread. Death is in the cots: in the slow mattresses, in the black blankets she lives stretched out, and she suddenly blows: she blows a dark sound that puffs out the sheets, and there are beds sailing to a port where she is waiting, dressed as an admiral. more

Resolved Question: Rock & Pop: What do you think of the band "Kill Hannah"?

Not many people have heard of them (at least not in the UK) and I doubt R&P will like them much but I just thought I'd share. Kill Hannah is an alternative rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois, they have released six studio albums, seven EPs, and two compilation albums as well as three DVDs. Kill Hannah formed after Mat Devine (lead singer) split up with his girlfriend, Hannah, in 1993. Here are the Young Moderns, released on January 9, 1998, was Kill Hannah's debut album under that current name and American Jet Set was released in 1999. Kill Hannah signed with Atlantic Records in late 2002, and the band recorded their Atlantic Records debut, For Never & Ever, in Los Angeles in the winter of 2003, the album contains mostly re-recorded versions of back-catalog songs and numbers that had been performed live for about a year prior. The band released their second album, Until There's Nothing Left of Us, with Atlantic Records, on August 1 2006. The first single from the album was "Lips Like Morphine", released before the album came out. The video is shot in black and white and set in an 'industrial wasteland'. The second single is "Crazy Angel" as announced on July 26th at the Fan Appreciation Show. Kill Hannah are now signed with Roadrunner Records outside of the US and released Until There's Nothing Left of Us for the UK on March 24 2007. My favorite songs by Kill Hannah are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbKn6LSLONg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KcGTUpv2nw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9lZ65IvI7o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wh8KLlL6df4 more

Resolved Question: Do these illegal immigrant supporters seem peaceful to you?

"We have an aging white America... They are dying... We have got to eliminate the gringo, and what I mean by that is if the worst comes to the worst, we have got to kill him." -- Jose Angel Gutierrez, professor, University of Texas, Arlington and founder of the La Raza Unida political party "...We're here today to show L.A., show the minority people here, the Anglo-Saxons, that we are here, the majority, we're here to stay. We do the work in this city, we take care of the spoiled brat children... We're here in Westwood... to show white Anglo-Saxon Protestant L.A., the few of you who remain, that we are the majority, and we claim this land as ours, it's always been ours, and we're still here, and none of the talk about deporting." -- Fabian Nunez, California assemblyman "The American Southwest seems to be slowly returning to the jurisdiction of Mexico without firing a single shot." -- The Excelsior, the national newspaper of Mexico "If anyone's going to be deported, it's going to be you!... Get out! We are the future. You're old and tired. Go on. We have beaten you - leave like beaten rats. You old white people, it is your duty to die. Right now, we're already controlling those elections, whether it's by violence or nonviolence. Through love of having children we're going to take over." -- Augustin Cebada, information minister of the Brown Berets, a paramilitary organization dedicated to reclaiming south western America for Mexico "Because you know what? It's not enough to elect Latino leadership. If they're supporting legislation that denies the undocumented driver's license, they don't belong in office friends." -- Antonio Villaraigosa, Mayor of Los Angeles "Power is not given to you, (Hispanics) you have to take it! People say to me when I was on the Senate floor, when I was in the Senate, why do you fight so hard for affirmative action programs. And I tell my white colleagues: because you're gonna need them. Remember, Proposition 187 is the last gasp of white America." -- Art Torres, former California Democratic Party Chairman "California is going to be a Hispanic state. Anyone who doesn't like it should leave." -- Mario Obledo of the California Coalition of Hispanic Organizations, the California State Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under Governor Jerry Brown and a Medal of Freedom winner during the Clinton administration more

Art Torres, Chairman of the California Democratic Party, "Remember 187 — proposition to deny taxpayer funds for services to non-citizens — was the last gasp of white America in California." Gloria Molina, Los Angeles County Supervisor, "We are politicizing every single one of these new citizens that are becoming citizens of this country ... I gotta tell you that a lot of people are saying, "I'm going to go out there and vote because I want to pay them back." Resolved Question: Life is not worth living anymore...? Suicide?

So here's my fucking sob story for you guys to read and give me advice upon. Lets see the recession isn't going too well with my family, because we're currently being evicted and my parents' single store is about to shut down if their business doesn't pick up. Personally, I've been through a "character-development//psychology" therapy or whatever the fuck you want to call it. It taught me a lot about self-love, which I have developed for myself. But recently, I have weighed out the love for myself and the love for others. I would say that my love for myself has steadily decreased over the years. All I do is illegal shit everyday whether it is drugs or acts of violence.I feel like that there are two halves of me; one that is wanting to die and the other wanting to strive in life to become what I want to be. It's like having an angel and a demon on your shoulders. Everyday two different perspectives of lives of your mind constantly speaking to you to do this or that. I feel that my beliefs of good and bad are different from society, thus creating a boundary between the "normal" people and myself. I have situated myself around good people doing bad things as I would like to say. Maybe thats why I am in this... black hole? I have experienced some shitty things in life, but I wouldn't say something that is heartbreaking. But I haven't also experienced something that would be the joy of this world and I would have died for. I've been basically living in a stagnant life, going through basic shit a child in America living in Los Angeles would go through. Nothing big... nothing small. With this mediocre life, without ever feeling the great happiness after going through a very devastating hardship; I would like to take my life. This is a cry of attention, bullshit, etc. etc. whatever you want to call it. But, one thing is still true... my life is mediocre. I feel like I am simply a waste of space on Earth, my parents' hard earned money, and just another being that will go by this universe without being recognized. Fuck My Life. more

Resolved Question: Could someone Please help on this very hard case study?

The Darby Company manufactures and distributes meter used to measure electric power consumption. The company started with a small production plant in El Paso and gradually built a customer base throughout Texas. A distribution center was established in Ft. Worth, Texas later, as business expanded to the north, a second distribution center was established in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The El Paso plant was expanded when the company began marketing its meters in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah. With the growth of the West Coast business, the Darby Company opened a third distribution center in Las Vegas and just two years ago opened a second production plant in San Bernardino, California. Manufacturing costs differe between the company\'s production plants. The cost of each meter produced at the El Paso plant is $10.50. The San Bernardino plant utilizes newr and more efficient; as a result, manufacturing costs are $.50 per meter less than at the El Paso plant. The company\'s rapid growth meant that not much attention was paid to the efficiency of the distribution system. Darby\'s management decided it is now time to address this issue. The cost of shipping a meter from each of the two plants to each of the three distribtion centers is shown in Table 1 below. The quarterly production capacity is 30,000 meters at the older ElPaso plant and 20,000 meters at the San Bernardino plant. Note that no shipments are allowed from the San Bernardino plant to the Ft. Worth distribution center. The company serves nine customer zones from the three distribution centers. The forecast of the number of meters needed in each customer zone for the next quarter is shown in Table 2. The cost per unit of shipping from each distribution center to each customer zone is given in Table 3. note that some of the distribution centers cannot serve certain customer zones. In the current distribution system, demand at the Dallas, San Antonio, Wichitia, and Kansas City customer zones is satisfied by shipments from the Ft. Worth distribution center. In a similar manner, the Denver, Salt Lake City, and Phoenix customer zones are served by the Santa Fe distribution, and the Los Angel es and San Diego customer zones are served by the Las Vegas distibution center. To determine how many units to ship from each plant, the quarterly customer demand forecasts are aggregated at the distribution centers. and a transportation model is used to minimize the cost of shipping from the production plants to the distribution centers. Table 1 Shipping cost per unit from production plants to distribution centers ($) Distribution Center Plant Ft Worth Sante Fe Las Vegas El Paso 3.20 2.20 4.20 San Bernardino --- 3.90 1.20 Table 2 Quarterly Demand Forecast Customer Zone Demand (meters) Dallas 6300 San Antonio 4880 Wichitia 2130 Kansas City 1210 Denver 6120 Salt Lake City 4830 Phoenix 2750 Los Angeles 8580 San Diego 4460 Table 3 Shipping cost from the distribution centers to the customer zones ($) Customer Zone San Kansas Salt Lake Dallas Antonio Wichita City Denver City Phoenix LA SD Ft Wor 0.3 2.1 3.1 4.4 6.0 -- -- -- -- Sante Fe 5.2 5.4 4.5 6.0 2.7 4.7 3.4 3.3 2.7 Las Vegas - - - - 5.4 3.3 2.4 2.1 2.5 Question for overall problem 1. If the company does not change its current distribution strategy, what will its manufacturing and distribution costs be for the following quarter? 2. Suppose that the company is willing to consider dropping the distribution center limitations; that is, customer could be served by any of the distributon centers for which costs are available. Can costs be reduced? By how much? 3. The company wants to explore the possibility of satisfying some fo the customer demand directly from the production plants. In particular, the shipping cost is $.30 per unit from San bernardion to Los Angeles and $.70 from San Bernardion to San Diego. Teh cost for direct shipments from El Paso to San Antonio is $3.50 per unit. Can distribution costs be frther reduced by considering these direct plant customer shipments? 4. Over the next five years. Darby is anticipating moderate growth (5000 meters) to the North and West. Would you recommend that they consdier plant expansion at this time?Maybe someone with alot of time on their hands or knows what to do with this problem. more

Resolved Question: Do Pro-illegal supporters seem like peaceful people to you?

Resolved Question: Why is "DE"' "DU" and "DEL" so necessary in French?

I'm asking this because I speak Spanish as well. And french and Spanish are very very similar in the way that the sentences are constructed. For example,in Spanish a normal and correct phrase would be "Cuando los angeles lloran sangre" meaning literally "When the angels cry blood".Now In french, this same sentence would be "Quand les anges pleurent du sang".Meaning literally "When the angels cry of blood".Ok,why is the extra "OF" so necessary? Why doesn't "Quand les anges pleurent sang" make sence or considered incorrect?Would the french understand what I mean without a problem if I tell the "Quand les anges pleurent sang" or would the extra "DU" just be so necessary that they would think I'm crazy?lol (I'm using this example because its a verse in a song, just in case your wondering whats up with the angels.lol) Another example. In Spanish "Cuando los angeles merecen morir" litteraly means "When the angels deserve to die" now in french the correct way to say this would be "quand les anges méritent de mourir" and that literally means "When the angles deserve of death" once again, what is up with the "De" and the "Du" its just confusing me and its giving writers block for this song im trying to translate into French. more

Voting Question: How many N.L fans will be in attendance at this year's All-Star Game at Angel Stadium in Anaheim?

This year's all-star game will the first in SoCal in two decades and there's gonna be fans just chomping at the bit to come. San Fran Giants fans are hard core baseball fans as well as their counterpart the Los Angeles Dodgers fans . . . these fans WILL stand in line to get tickets. Padres fans are also pretty big time baseball fans (when they're good) and San Diego's passion for baseball is no different than the other two. The Angel fans are pretty much the lonely A.L team who's fanbase is neither as big as the Giants or the Dodgers and is pretty equal to the Padres fan base. I'm just thinking that this year's all-star game could have more N.L fans than A.L fans in an A.L ballpark. It's gonna be interesting to see. more

Resolved Question: I live in Orange County, Southern California, wouldn't it be nice if the Clippers moved to Anaheim?

Like I said, I think it would be nice, and better if the Los Angeles Clippers became the Anaheim Clippers, besides, Los Angeles has 2 NBA teams, I don't think there is another city in the United States that has 2 NBA teams, plus the Clippers are overwhelming overshadowed by the Lakers, plus Orange County, Anaheim has the Anaheim Angels and the Anaheim Ducks, which are MLB and NHL teams, so I really think Orange County should have an NBA team, and that it should be the Clippers. C'mon, the Lakers have won 15 Championships in their entire franchise history, 10 while in Los Angeles, and the Clippers have won 0 championships, none, so really, the Clippers are extremely overshadowed by the Lakers, which is why I think the Clippers should relocate.I know that the Clippers horrible, terrible owner, Donald Sterling would refuse to move them to Orange County, Anaheim, but until he steps down as owner, do you think the Clippers can move to Orange County, Southern California? We have the Honda Center, formerly known as the Arrowhead Pond, that is a great place for Basketball. more

Resolved Question: Will Re-alignment Answer Baseball's Long Season?

Re-alignment has been discussed for quite some time now as recently, the talk has shifted to the length of the season being too long as well as when to play the World Baseball Classic (WBC). Below, is my take on answering all facets of these questions as what is your opinion on what I have proposed? Proposed league re-alignment: North Boston Red Sox New York Mets New York Yankees Philadelphia Phillies Toronto Blue Jays South Atlanta Braves Baltimore Orioles Florida Marlins Tampa Bay Rays Washington Nationals Central Cincinnati Reds Cleveland Indians Detroit Tigers Pittsburgh Pirates Milwaukee Brewers Midwest Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox Kansas City Royals Minnesota Twins St Louis Cardinals Mountain Arizona Diamondbacks Colorado Rockies Houston Astros Seattle Mariners Texas Rangers West Los Angeles Angels Los Angeles Dodgers Oakland Athletics San Diego Padres San Francisco Giants Benefits: 1. League history would remain with a "American League" and a "National League." 2. Natural local rivalries remain allowing teams to be able to play against each other. 3. Option I reconfigures current season from 162 to 165 Home/Away (H/A) games as: a. Divisional Play ~ Sixty (60) games of the schedule: 1. consists of two (H/A) series with an yearly alternating (H/A) series. b. Conference Play ~ Sixty (60) games of the schedule: 1. consists of one (H/A) series with remaining two divisions in your league. c. League Play ~ Forty Five (45) games of the schedule: 1. consists of one alternating yearly (H/A) series with teams in other league. 4. Option II reconfigures current season from 162 to 153 Home/Away (H/A) games as: : a. Divisional Play ~ Forty Eight (48) games of the schedule: 1. consists of two (H/A) series with teams in the same division. b. Conference Play ~ Sixty (60) games of the schedule: 1. consists of one (H/A) series with remaining two divisions in your league. c. League Play ~ Forty Five (45) games of the schedule: 1. consists of one alternating yearly (H/A) series with teams in other league. 5. Balanced team schedule over unbalanced present day inter league play schedule. 6. Since Spring Training is in the warm weather states of Arizona and Florida, then ... a. Catchers and Pitchers report the beginning of February instead of mid February and b. start playing the exhibition schedule from mid February until mid March 7. Start the season mid March instead of the present system of the beginning of April. 8. Change present Divisional Series form a best of five series to a best of seven series. 9. The World Baseball Classic (WBC) can be scheduled after World Series ends. 10. League expansion would be made easier through re-alignment. This type of schedule is all ready in place for both Hockey and Basketball as it keeps inter league play intact.. You are giving each team, the opportunity to play against opposing talent on every team at least once during the season while keeping local rivalries open as well. You also give your fan base a chance to see opposing players they presently may not see for many years. Some may argue that you have extended the season but one can counter that the season has been pulled back half a month thus pulling back the start of the post season. In this scenario, revenue to the teams would not be a question as none of this would have to be altered. What teams in the sport need to do to try to combat the escalating costs of salary is not to make any players salary public knowledge. One could argue that knowing what another player at the same position signed for would help their client get top dollar as the flip side to this argument is that the private sector of business does not tolerate salaries being known. It is a known fact that players need to survive in supporting themselves and their families but this should be done though their experience and experience, much like it is done in the private sector over what another player is making. more

Voting Question: Confused. Terribly confused.?

When we met he was in a big mess. I helped him out of it and despite trying to keep my distance we ended up dating. When his life got better, he "got sick of me". Did not leave me but would never be around and initiated friendships that he never shared with me -other women included. After months of barely talking to each other, no intimacy, and numerous fights, I asked him out. The breakup, being over worked, and the feeling of betrayal sent me to the hospital. One week later he was having sex with other women and even told me about it. My memory got stuck in the times that we were okay with each other and his promises that there would never be another woman for him --Instead of focusing and remembering the bad times I focused and idolized the good old ones. He convinced himself and his family that it had been all my fault. I ended up believing them and started analyzing what I could have done wrong to try to fix it and give the relationship another chance. I am no angel but once I accepted him into my life I was committed to doing my best and building a life together...Anyway, we separated for over 1 year. During this time we both tried relationships with other people. It did not work for either of us. He admitted that he could not forget me but he also said that he would not allow himself to get back with me because he thought he was the cause of me getting sick. To that I replied that I was overly stressed and in pain at the time and that it was only normal that it caught up with me. I asked him to not let those thoughts interfere and to give it another try now that we both knew we loved each other so deeply. But, alas, once I said this, he replied that the truth was that he did not want to be with me because he was not in love with me anymore --but that he loved me more than he will ever love anyone. The rejection hurt me but I understood and tried to move on. However, one moth after that conversation, I was diagnosed with leukemia. Since then he started coming to the house and sleeping over every day as a friend. He has taken me to the hospital, picked me up, cooked for me, you name it. I was in heaven thinking that I had made the right choice by allowing him back into my life...and that maybe he was confused as he tried to kiss me a couple of times. Anyways, the dream lasted a few weeks only. Two days before New Years he told me he was going to NYC to spend it with his family. With no friends left (they warned me that they would not be around if I allowed him in again --which he knows), sick and lonely in Los Angeles on New Years eve I thought of ending it all. Yes, suicide. Not over him but over how low I let myself fall. His words have been clear, granted. His actions not so much (except for this last stint.) Where do I go from here? But he has taken special pride in one of this year's creations – a float depicting the memories of his upbringing in Mexico. It will mark the first time in more than 40 years that the Mexican government has participated in the parade. The float, which features an Aztec calendar and pyramid, will be decorated by Mexican immigrants, and their families and will kick off a year of festivities for the country's 200th birthday. The last time the Mexican government presented a float in the parade was in 1968, when the country hosted the Olympics. Avila built the model for the float and sculpted a 6-foot-tall Angel of Independence on top. "This year is going to be something special for me," said Avila, who lives in Pasadena and hasn't missed the parade in 21 years. "Even though I am a U.S. citizen, even though my children were born here, I had my childhood in Mexico. I have roots there." Juan Marcos Gutierrez-Gonzalez, Mexico's consul general in Los Angeles, said during a news conference Tuesday at the warehouse that he expects many of the 3.8 million Mexicans living here to feel that same connection to their homeland when they see the float on New Year's Day. "For Mexicans living in Los Angeles, there is going to be a matter of pride," he said. "It's announcing to the world: 'It's our 200th birthday.' " Throughout 2010, the Mexican Consulate will be organizing events to celebrate the bicentennial of Mexico's independence from Spain and the centennial of the Mexican revolution. The events include an art exhibit, a Mexican film festival and an independence parade. The year of celebration will begin Jan. 1, when traditionally clad dancers will perform alongside the 24-foot-high and 55-foot-long float. The float showcases symbols of Mexico's culture and history, including a relief sculpture of an eagle with a snake in its mouth and floral portraits of founding fathers Miguel Hidalgo and Francisco Madero. Across the middle of the float, about 50,000 roses will spell out "Mexico – 2010" under red, white and green pennants. The designer, Raul R. Rodriguez, was raised in Los Angeles and is of Mexican descent. Rodriguez said he worked with consular officials to create a float that would highlight pivotal events in the country's history as well as capture the colors, smells and sounds of the nation. "Mexico's going to make quite an impact," he said. "I am really looking forward to New Year's morning." Televisa and Wells Fargo are funding most of the $250,000 float, which took about three months to build. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/nation/stories/DN-roseparade_17nat.ART.State.Edition1.4bf0ab9.html more

Resolved Question: Are the Florida Marlins having any interest from other teams in dealing for Dan Uggla about the Chicago Cubs?

Dan Uggla for Alfonso Soriano, Starlin Castro, and possibly two minor league prospects a right handed starter and a left handed starter. I heard Starlin Castro was off-limits when the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim offered Vladimir Guerrero. So do you think this shot is over. Michael Stanton, Hanley Ramirez, and Josh Johnson are not going to be dealt they are going to be kept unless deal 4 or five players from the 12 that are on arbitration. The Florida Marlins don't have any more to spent on the Draft for 2010, the only ones signed were LHP Chad James and RHP Bryan Berglund. more
