Open Question: Little help with Traffic Court. Los Angeles County?
Tomorrow I would go to Chatsworth traffic court. I plan to ask the judge to reduce the fine price, since I am a poor student who lost his full time position a month ago. This is my first time ever going there. When I come early in the morning, would they send me to see the Judge right away, or would they issue me a court date? Can you also help me please, what should I say to the clerk, when I arrive to court? Should I say that I would like to see the Judge? Please excuse my grammar. moreResolved Question: what are the hours to the los angeles registrar record clerks office...?
What are the hours to the Los Angeles County register record county clerks office? I'm looking for the one in Van Nuys CA. Also, to obtain a copy of my daughters birth certificate do I need to take her ss card? moreResolved Question: My kitten was placed in a pound and given away hours later. How can I get her returned to me?
Long story short: Girlfriend and I were given a kitten a couple months ago. 3 weeks ago I let the kitten stay at her house. Yesterday morning, the kitten ate a plate of food that was left out which belonged to another family member. Instead of giving the cat back to me, they drove her to the Baldwin Park shelter in Los Angeles County. The rest of the family found out about it a couple hours later, but when they went to retrieve her, the clerk told them she had already been taken and nothing could be done. What I'd like to know is, is that really true? If someone turns in an animal without a microchip, can someone adopt them within a few hours despite the fact it wasn't the owner that turned them in? Is there a person I should call to speak with directly about this, or is she actually gone for good? I'm more or less hoping that I can buy the kitten back from the new owners, I just need a means to get in touch with them. They wouldn't release that information, though :(This morning I sent an email to the shelter, explaining what happened and included pictures of the cat. I simply asked that they pass on my contact information to the person who adopted her. It just seems odd to me that she was adopted SO quickly. I thought there were waiting times, or that the shelter at least has to verify she's healthy and is given shots? If they did violate a wait-time rule, would I have a better chance at retrieving her?SOLVED! After writing an email to county, the shelter manager got in touch with me and sorted everything out. She was indeed still at the shelter in order to be spayed and receive shots; her adopting family was meant to pick her up today. They let them know she was illegally turned in and I will have her back in a few hours. This has been awesome. Thanks for the help everyone! moreResolved Question: Do you have to have your marriage license issued in the same county as the venue of the wedding(California)?
I live in Riverside, but my wedding will be in Los Angeles. Do I have to apply for a marriage license at the L.A. county clerk's office? moreResolved Question: How would I go about finding out if I'm still married?
Hi, I was wondering how would I go about finding out if I'm still married or if our marriage was annulled? My wife and I haven't spoken much since I last seen her January 4th, we've been either not talking or fighting and it's ridiculous. She recently told me that she had a court hearing to have our marriage annulled on Monday the 8th, I'm not sure how true it is, I haven't received any papers or been contacted to sign anything, we got married at the county clerk's office in Los Angeles October 30th 2009 with one witness which is a friend of mine. I requested a copy of the marriage certificate but I don't see anything in there about an annullment I see "16A LAST MARRIAGE/SRDP ENDED BY--" then there's a few check boxes, DEATH, DISSO, ANNULMENT, TERM SRDP, N/A, the box for N/A being checked. I'm not sure if that means I'm still married or what. She's known for hurtful lies when she's mad, in December she told me that our marriage license expired and our wedding was invalid and the clerks office screwed up and we weren't really married and she wasn't going to marry me again and that when I went to see her and my step daughter I would be sleeping in my step daughters room until it was time for me to go back to NY, when I got there she admitted it was a lie and she only did it to hurt me because we were fighting, and in October before we got married she told me she was going to see a psychiatrist and tell the psychiatrist everything, and if the psychiatrist recommends she doesn't marry me then she won't. She has said a lot of mean and cruel things to hurt me, some of which I heard before and then we ended up getting engaged and then getting married but this time it has been going on for a couple months and I'm confused and don't know what to do other then find out if we're married or not still, I can't talk to her with out her yelling at me and being nasty and telling me she doesn't love me anymore and saying she faked it and all kinds of other hurtful things. So if any of you could point me in the right direction and help me find out this information I would appreciate it deeply. It didn't expire, she lied to hurt me. She does that when she's angry. Also, I haven't got anything about an annulment or signed off on anything, she doesn't even have an address for me. moreResolved Question: How long does it take to get a Marriage Certificate in Los Angeles County?
I just got married on the 9th of January and filed the paperwork on the 11th. It has been almost 3 weeks and they still haven't had it on file at the Norwalk office (where I filed) yet. How long does it take for the County Clerk office to put my marriage record on file and make it available for me to go down there and get copies? moreResolved Question: Why did thousands of uninsured workers line up at LA free clinic forum?
I thought Everyone is insured under the free market? One volunteer dentist who spoke to the local media said that conditions in Los Angeles were worse than in Brazil, where he has done equivalent charity work. “They have a nice system of public hospitals and clinics,” he said, referring to Brazil. A volunteer doctor, when asked about the difference between Third World conditions and those in Los Angeles, responded, “Here the people speak English.” According to local press accounts, among those seeking help at the clinic were: • A homeless man who camped outside in order to get glasses • An unemployed grocery clerk needing a root canal • A laid-off auto mechanic with back pain • A laid-off office worker uninsured for two years • A cancer patient who had exhausted her benefits under her HMO plan • A community college student with sinus problems and blurred vision • A laid-off security guard who needed glasses • An unemployed grocery clerk with a toothache • A woman whose children are covered under the state Medi-Cal plan but lacks insurance for herself • A county government worker whose dental insurance deductibles were too high to afford treatment for her husband and three-year-old daughter • A retired welder who lost his coverage while he was in the middle of getting dentures • A couple, both employed, who between them needed dentures, a general physical, a breast exam and a pap smear • A diabetic amputee who could not afford to buy needed drugs • A retiree needing an X-ray for a lung problem • A 70-year-old Vietnam vet who put off a root canal for two years because the VA hospital was overwhelmed with more urgent cases • A 63-year-old woman who received her first new pair of glasses in five years • A 46-year-old woman who had an abnormal pap smear last year but was unable to follow up because Medi-Cal denied her coverage. moreResolved Question: Can I get my marriage license here?
I live in Los Angeles county and the nearest county clerk's office is in Van Nuys. I read that you are supposed to get your marriage license at a county clerks office. But I want to be sure that they can do it there. And if someone knows the time it opens that would be WONDERFUL. I tried calling but it's too late. And the only time my fiance and I can go is tomorrow. Thank you sooo much! I am panicking! LOL moreResolved Question: Can I defend my self in court over a legal issue.?
I have a small boutique in a small part of town. The name is really unique and it sets us apart from the rest. Last week I found out that a store has opened up at the mall that is about 3 miles from my store with,,,THE SAME EXACT NAME!!!!!! How did this happened. How did the city let this happened? The DBA requires you to buy a name that is not in service. And yet they have the same name. An attorney cost a fortune to start up a case, and my worries are that since this store just opened up i might not get any money from the settlement since they have not really damaged our Business clientele. We just want the name that is ours. Now everyone thinks we are at the mall and that we are expanding. My question is can I defend my self if i decide to sue. I tried grabbing some records on this store but the county clerk needs a legal adviser. I live in the los angeles area so california laws will be more helpful. Thank you. moreResolved Question: Showed up at Juvenile Traffic Court - no active case, what next?
My citation for speeding (85 in a 65) from a Highway Patrol Officer told me to show up at Long Beach Courthouse in Los Angeles County, CA on said date, i showed up and was informed by the clerk that there was no active case. he handed me a paper that stated "The above named person appeared in Juvenile Traffic Court on the above date, in response to a citation and no active cases were found. You are advised to wait for a Notice from the court or the citing police agency. If you received a notice of suspension from the Department of Motor Vehicles, bring this form to the court immediately." What can i expect next? Can i do anything to completely get out of the citation? any laws against the time in which a citation can be filed?? citation was on Jan 16 2009 today's date is March 4 2009It is ridiculous i had to go to court even though the officer hasn't filed the ticket, waste of an entire day, and my parents time and money, AND i will have to go back. moreResolved Question: Michael Jackson's fans and other people... ARE YOU SAD ABOUT THIS?
LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson has given up title to his Neverland ranch, transferring the deed to a company he partly controls. The singer filed a grant deed on the ranch Monday that makes the new owner an entity called the Sycamore Valley Ranch Co. LLC, Tom Pearson of the Santa Barbara County clerk-recorder's office said Wednesday. Sycamore Valley Ranch Co. is a joint venture between Jackson and an affiliate of Colony Capital LLC, according to a person with knowledge of the transaction who was not authorized to speak on the record and requested anonymity. The person could not say what would become of the 2,500-acre property in the bucolic, oak-studded hills of Santa Barbara County's wine country, 120 miles northwest of Los Angeles. A call to an attorney for Jackson, L. Londell McMillan, was not immediately returned Wednesday. Jackson had gone into default on the $24.5 million he owes on the property and had faced foreclosure before Colony Capital bailed him out earlier this year by purchasing his loan. Pearson said the deed did not indicate who owns Sycamore. A listing on the California secretary of state's Web site says the company filed with the state in June. It does not identify its owners, but the company has the same Century City address as Colony Capital LLC. Colony Capital is a Los Angeles-based real estate investment company run by billionaire Tom Barrack. It owns several properties in Las Vegas, including the Las Vegas Hilton. The property was called Sycamore Valley Ranch before Jackson bought it in 1988 and began turning it into a miniature amusement park with a zoo, Ferris wheel, roller coaster and other rides. At the height of his popularity, the superstar invited thousands of children to play on the grounds. He renamed the ranch after the mythical land of Peter Pan and set about creating the magical childhood experiences he said his career as a child star had denied him. "It's like stepping into Oz," he once said of Neverland. "Once you come in the gates, the outside world does not exist." Jackson has struggled to pay his debts since his financial empire began to crumble following his arrest in 2003 on charges that he molested a 13-year-old boy at the ranch. He has not been seen in the Los Olivos area since a jury acquitted him of all charges, and recent aerial photos show the ranch falling into disrepair. moreResolved Question: Voting Registration never arrived in mail, what to do?
I registered to vote (I have the bottom part of my registration form with numbers as proof) However my registration package never arrived in mail. I called Los Angeles County Registrar/County Clerk Office and they told me there is no record of my registration. My mother registered at the same place and same time as me but her package arrived in mail. Is there something I can do in order to vote tomorrow? or at least complain to DNC. The Clerk in L.A. County Reg told me there is nothing I could do. any suggestion is appreciated. moreResolved Question: Why are Out-of-State Obama staffers casting votes in New Mexico?
It looks like out-of-state volunteers and staffers are registering and casting ballots in the battleground state of New Mexico, too. One example is Shayne Adamski. He lives and works in Los Angeles, CA, is actively involved in politics and was a California delegate at the Democratic National Convention just 2 short months ago. Adamski is also a paid employee on the Obama campaign, and he traveled to New Mexico to help get out the vote in this swing state. All of this is quite admirable. However, according to the Bernalillo County Clerk, Adamski registered to vote as a resident of Albuquerque on October 5. That's just 38 days after he was representing the state of California as a delegate on the final day of the Democratic National Convention. He also requested an absentee ballot. (We do not yet know if he cast a ballot, we are waiting to hear from the County Clerk.) http://www.palestra.net/blogs/read/18025 moreResolved Question: Can someone proofread my paper or good with English?
Can someone proofread my paper. Thanks ahead of time. People from all over the world are fascinated with the city of Los Angeles. Each year tourists from around the world come to Los Angeles. They come to visit famous landmarks like Grauman’s Chinese Theater, hoping to see where famous movie and television stars have had their handprints, footprints, and signatures in concrete. Tourists also love to drive down Rodeo Drive to go sightseeing or shop at upscale stores like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Tiffany & Co., just to name a few. Some people hope to catch a glimpse of someone famous coming out of these stores. On the other hand, there are some people who don’t understand why someone would want to move or live in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is seen as an over-populated city where natural disasters like earthquakes and wildfires happen frequently. Like many other cities, Los Angeles has its advantages and disadvantages that people enjoy like the wonderful weather, diversity, and job opportunities. Living in Los Angeles offers diversity in people, cultures and food. There are all kinds of different ethnicities from around the world that live in Los Angeles. Therefore, there are many different kinds of restaurants that people can choose from. These restaurants can range from P.F. Chang’s to Roscoe’s House of Chicken’n Waffles to In-N-Out Burgers. They can choose to eat Chinese food, Japanese food, Vietnamese food and also American food on different days. There are also many places where people can go to like, Chinatown, Thai Town, and Little Tokyo. This kind of diversity makes living in Los Angeles a great way to experience different cultures. For example, people can at a workplace where there are many employees of different ethnicities and there is a language barrier, so they communicate with each other in different languages besides English. Los Angeles also offers a taste of the different cultures living in this diverse city. There are many job opportunities for people who live in Los Angeles as well. People can work in the Los Angeles County or work for the City. Jobs like clerks, architect, and engineering pay higher salaries with benefits. Los Angeles also offers a variety of jobs in the film and television industry. Therefore, people live and move to L.A. because they are aspire to fulfill their dreams of becoming actors, actresses or broadcasters in Hollywood or Burbank where Walt Disney, Warner Brothers, CNN, and Paramount Studios are located. There are also many shopping centers like malls and outlets around Los Angeles where retail jobs are available. This makes L.A. a good place not only for students to work and go to school at the same time, but also for people who are looking for part-time job or full-time job. Another advantage of living in Los Angeles is the great weather. People like living in Los Angeles because they can go to the beach and the mountains year round. During the winter it does not get too cold, with temperatures dropping down to about 40 degrees at night and sometimes 80 degrees during the day. For example, people can go to Snow Summit at Big Bear Mountain to play in the snow, go snowboarding or skiing and the next day they can go to the beach. During the summer time it can get pretty hot with temperatures in the mid 90’s to the low 100’s. For example, people can go outside to the beach, go to a park to have a picnic or go to water parks like Raging Waters and Hurricane Harbor. Although, due to Los Angeles lack of rain, there are fire-warning alerts throughout the hottest time of the year. The fires can occur along hillsides, mountains, and very dry brush areas where the heat of the sun or a cigarette can ignite a wildfire. Although, one can find oneself getting around L.A. is not always easy. Traffic in and around the city can be a disadvantage. The freeways do not always move as smoothly as they can. Rush hour traffic can be daunting and frustrating especially if one had to drive through it. Los Angeles is home to some of the busiest freeways in the country. With gas prices rising and with no end in sight, people are finding different ways to get from point A to point B. For instance, people are trying to carpool or ride the bus or the Metro in order to get to work and around the city. Some families only drive their cars on the weekends to go on family outings. Another disadvantage of living in Los Angeles is the cost of living. Many people cannot afford to buy a home because the rising housing market prices. For example, a house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms can be very expensive depending on the area. This is why many people cannot afford to buy a house at this time. If they cannot afford to pay for it, the bank takes it back. This is the reason why there are a lot of foreclosed homes because homeowners are not able to pay their mortgage. Rent is also on the rise in L.A. An apartment can rent for a few thousand dollars monthly for a 2 bedroom and 1 bath apartment. Therefore, it is really hard for people to maintain a comfortable living in Los Angeles with the rising cost of living. Finally, the crime rate in Los Angeles is also pretty high. This is true of many cities but Los Angeles is home to many gangs. Gang violence and homicides happen at an alarming rate and unfortunately innocent people are killed because rival gang members shoot at each other. It is not only homicides that occur, but also robbery that happen everyday in the Los Angeles area. Despite all the disadvantages, I continue living in Los Angeles. I like being a part of the melting pot that Los Angeles has to offer. I like having friends of different ethnicities as we go out to different restaurants because I get to taste different foods and learn more about their cultures. I also love the summer weather in Los Angeles because I can go to the beach to play some beach volleyball. Although, I do get frustrated with running into traffic, the cost of living and the crime rate. It helps that I have a strong bond with my family and friends around the Los Angeles area. moreResolved Question: Step Parent Adoption - California?
We are in the process of a step parent adoption. I have a few questions for anyone that has been through it in los angeles county. We have published a copy of the court hearing in the newspaper. The clerk at the court said SOMETIMES the judge terminates rights and finalizes the adoption right there? Has anyone had this happen? Also, the court is asking us to send some form to the branches of the military. Does anyone know where to get this form online? I cant seem to find it. thanks! moreVoting Question: Need help with this article!!! What is it about, what's the argument? please someone?
A death sentence voided The Adam Miranda case shows that the California death penalty costs too much in time, money and justice. May 7, 2008 If a respected entertainment lawyer had not decided 20 years ago to devote a substantial chunk of his life and work to helping a California death row inmate -- for free -- Adam Miranda would be dead by now. A document that could well have reduced Miranda's sentence had it not purposely or accidentally been kept from defense lawyers never would have come to light. Miranda's most recent petition for habeas corpus likely would have been rejected, just like the ones in 1987, 1989 and 1993. But George R. Hedges stood by Miranda for two decades and happened upon evidence in the file of the Los Angeles County district attorney's office that a different man stabbed a drug dealer to death in 1980. On Monday, that changed everything, as the state Supreme Court threw out Miranda's death sentence and ordered a new penalty trial. Miranda had an attorney whose firm was willing to donate millions of dollars worth of time to his case. Most of the 669 people on San Quentin's death row aren't nearly as lucky. If they have lawyers at all, they're usually harried, well-meaning professionals who do the best they can with the limited resources the state gives them to pursue their appeals. Earlier this year, one defense lawyer told the California Commission on the Fair Administration of Justice that, in a single death-penalty case, he typically must review 100 boxes of files and explore 40 areas in which things may have gone wrong -- but must tell his clients that "maybe I can only do seven of them" because there isn't enough money to do the rest. Confronted with the enormous cost of the death penalty in California, its supporters argue that it would be cheaper if the process were sped up. Yet Miranda's case shows how important those seemingly endless appeals can be. Miranda is not a sympathetic symbol for abolishing the death penalty. Jurors were presented with a videotape at trial that showed him killing an Eagle Rock convenience store clerk; having committed such a brutal crime, he should never again walk free. But his sentence -- death, and not life without parole -- was based in part on another killing. The letter found in the prosecutor's file, but never shared with the defense as required by law and thus never considered by the sentencing jury, contained evidence of another man's admission to that crime. Other death row prisoners are entitled to the same chance Hedges won for Miranda, but they won't get it. California's death penalty costs too much -- in time and money, but mostly in its potential for injustice -- to be sustained. moreResolved Question: I lost my divorce paper work, can I file an affidavit at the county clerk office?

How do I get a 20 yrs old transcript? In trying to get the reporter's transcript on a Injustice Criminal Case (that I know was!)that's 20 yrs old; I tried to see what Archives can tell me, giving them the case number, etc. I did not get no were. Now how must I find out from the district attorney office, if they will reopen the case; and if they don't wish to; then how can I explore how they can be ordered to do so by a court? The bottomline is, if they falsely charged a person for a crime, helding it against them for life, there must or got to be the reporter's transcript. My question is, how long are (healthy) dogs kept in the county animal shelter before they are euthanized? There is a beautiful terrier that I want to adopt from the county (Los Angeles) animal shelter. The dog is receiving treatment for a scrape on his leg, but is otherwise very healthy. They want me to take him tomorrow, I want to wait until Monday so that I can get prepared. The clerk said she would put a note on the paperwork so that they wont euthanize him between tomorrow and Monday. The dog was just received at the shelter on 3/13. It was upsetting to think that they would do this in such a short period of time! I always assumed that the animals were housed at least a few months before they would do this. I will be happy to hear any info or thoughts on this topic.I don't blame the shelters, I blame the adults who are not responsible enough to spay/neuter their pet. moreResolved Question: why would a los angeles county bench warrant not show up on a police check but show up with clerk when checked

MAYWOOD, Calif. (AP) - A former deputy city clerk was charged Friday with trying to hire someone to kill a Maywood city councilman. Hector Duarte, 29, was charged with seven counts, including soliciting murder, making criminal threats and threatening a public official. He faces more than 10 years in prison if convicted of all counts, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office said. Prosecutors allege that Duarte tried to have Councilman Felipe Aguirre killed because he was upset about possible budget cuts that might reduce employee salaries or cost him his job. They say Duarte left threatening messages in Aguirre's work mailbox and on Mayor Thomas Martin's cell phone. Duarte, who was jailed on $1.3 million bail, was scheduled to be arraigned Monday. He was arrested earlier this month by sheriff's deputies, but was released July 5 pending further investigation. He was taken into custody again late Thursday. I presented with timely documents, but 2 of the 4 Filing Clerks argued that I needed to accompany my Fee Waiver(s) to random Courts... that the hours for Courts to have fee waivers submitted had expired...that the Courts had gone home for the day After the Statute of Limitations filing date, the other 2 of 4 Clerks accepted my filings and processed the docs and fee waivers correctly...taking the papers to the respective Courts by way of the clerks and not hand-carried by me... the Supervisor said to "File a Motion" I wrote John A. Clarke, the Executive Clerk for Los Angeles County, requesting security tapes and citing the unacceptable answer from the Supervisor I guess I shouldn't have expected an answer Does anyone know about such Motions...the opposing side would doubtless deny a mutual modification of the filing date moreResolved Question: Does anyone know the fax number to the Los Angeles County Clerk/ Recorder's Office?
