Los Angeles Foreclosure News Questions asked

Resolved Question: Los Angeles County will lose 20,000 nonfarm jobs in 2010?

Los Angeles County will lose about 20,000 nonfarm jobs this year, part of a "measured economic recovery under way" nationally, statewide and in Southern California, according to a forecast released today. The expected job losses this year represent about 0.5 percent of all nonfarm jobs in the county, the report by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp. says. That is a much milder drop than in 2009, when the county's nonfarm jobs fell 3.8 percent, or about 154,000 positions. That will keep the county's unemployment rate near its peak level of 12.4 percent. However, by 2011, the jobless rate should drop to 12 percent on a 1 percent increase in nonfarm jobs, or 40,000 positions. One percent is a weak, but welcome, increase, experts say. "We're saying a recovery is under way, which is an upgrade" from the previous forecast, said Jack Kyser, LAEDC founding economist. "But it's going to be a jobless recovery, which is going to cause a lot of anxiety." By comparison, Orange and Ventura counties will see a slightly more severe drop in the job market this year, with a 0.6 percent decline each, the forecast says. San Diego County is expected to see a 0.7 percent drop in jobs. California's unemployment rate will remain high at an average of 12.3 percent for 2010, as the Golden State loses 121,800 jobs. Next year, the jobless rate will ease to 11.9 percent, the forecast says. The nationwide jobless rate will remain high, averaging 9.9 percent this year and 9.4 percent in 2011. Next year, the U.S. economy is expected to grow 2.6 percent, with 3.1 percent next year. California's economy will lag the nation's because of the ongoing problems in the state's housing market, Kyser said. However, Southern California will likely outperform the state as a whole. "The lousy housing market is going to be a real drag," Kyser said. "We're not ready to say the housing recovery is here. We think you're going to see more foreclosures hit the market. And of course, you have the non-residential real estate sector dead in the water, so that will act as a break." The seaports will be critical to the state's recovery, Kyser said. "The recovery will be driven by a modest upturn in international trade, which is good news for the South Bay," he said. Exports have already picked up, reflecting the recovery in Asian economies as well as the weaker U.S. dollar. And imports are expected to improve this year, Kyser said. After a dismal 2009, the Port of Los Angeles will see a modest increase in the number of containers handled this year. The forecast expects the nation's largest port to handle 7 million containers in 2010, up from 6.7 million last year. The Port of Long Beach will also see an increase, from 5.1 million containers last year to 5.4 million in 2010. The prominent L.A. economist cautioned that the twin ports are a long way from the robust container traffic of 2006. The entertainment and tourism industries will also help spur Southern California's recovery, the forecast says. Infrastructure projects, including expansion at Los Angeles International Airport, will help drive the regional economy. The aerospace industry, which has a large concentration in the South Bay, will see a 3.3 percent drop, or 1,200 jobs, to 35,700 positions in Los Angeles County, the forecast says. Next year, the county's aerospace job market will shrink again, by 3.1 percent to a total of 34,600. Southern California aerospace jobs continue to disappear even while the Pentagon budget increases. "In many cases, they will do the R&D in Southern California, but when you start to do major projects - manufacturing and things - they move it out of state to lower-cost areas," Kyser said. 2 hours ago - 1 week left to answer. Additional Details if this keep up u will see alot of low and middle class move out of Southern California special when hispanic is 19.1 unempolyment rate hit the highest more

Resolved Question: Octomom's mom facing foreclosure, will she still say no to welfare?

Los Angeles County property records show a notice of mortgage default was filed Feb. 9 against the home of Suleman's mother, Angela Suleman, the station reported. Angela Suleman is $23,225 behind in her mortgage payments and the three-bedroom house could be sold at an auction beginning May 5, documents say. Suleman has said that she was raising her six children in her mother's home and planned to raise her newborn octuplets there. News of the foreclosure is the latest twist in the tale of Suleman and her children. Suleman, 33, had the octuplets through fertility treatments, despite being single and already having six young children and no clear source of income. Resolved Question: Other than the kids & the Grandmother do you feel sorry at all for the 14 kid mom for the latest mess she->?

Has caused? Read on-> LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – The grandmother of California's newborn octuplets faces the threat of foreclosure on the house she has shared with her daughter and six of her grandchildren, property records revealed on Wednesday. According to a mortgage default notice filed last week with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder's Office, Angela Suleman is more than $23,000 behind in payments on her house in the Los Angeles suburb of Whittier, an agency spokesman said. The default notice was first made public when a copy of the document, giving Suleman three months to settle her debt in order to avoid foreclosure, was posted on the celebrity news website TMZ.com. The papers indicate Suleman last made a payment on the three-bedroom house in May 2008 and has filed for bankruptcy. Texas-based debt collection agency NDEx West, operating on behalf of mortgage lender IndyMac Federal Bank, declined comment and Suleman could not immediately be reached for comment. Her daughter, Nadya, 33, jobless and receiving food stamps, drew international headlines and a torrent of public ridicule after giving birth January 26 to octuplets conceived through in vitro fertilization. That criticism intensified when it was learned she already had six children, ages 2 to 7, that she was collecting disability checks for three of them, and that they all were living with the grandmother. Angela Suleman also has complained publicly of the financial burden and voiced skepticism about her daughter's ability to care for 14 children. The public backlash grew so hostile that Nadya Suleman -- dubbed "octo-mom" in the tabloid press -- went into seclusion with her six older kids last week due to death threats, according to a publicity firm hired by the family. Spokesman Michael Furtney, whose firm has since severed ties with Suleman because of the threats, said she and her children recently moved back in with the grandmother. more

Resolved Question: Doesn't this make you wish, you were broke & famous?

Trump To Buy McMahon's Home, Let Him Live There BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Donald Trump will soon be Ed McMahon's landlord. Trump announced Thursday he would save the television personality's Beverly Hills mansion from foreclosure by buying it for an undisclosed amount and leasing it to McMahon. The developer told the Los Angeles Times he doesn't know McMahon personally, but acted out of compassion because helping out "would be an honor." McMahon, 85, who was Johnny Carson's sidekick on the "Tonight" show for three decades, has not worked for about 18 months because of a neck injury. He defaulted on $4.8 million in mortgage loans with Countrywide Financial Corp. McMahon's spokesman, Howard Bragman, told The Associated Press that paperwork on the sale had not been completed but that McMahon was "very optimistic" the deal would go through. "When I was at the Wharton School of Business I'd watch him every night," Trump told the Times. "How could this happen?" McMahon bought the six-bedroom, five-bathroom, 7,000-square-foot house in January 1990. The home was listed at $4.6 million last weekend — down from a peak price of $7 million. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080815/ap_on_en_tv/people_ed_mcmahon;_ylt=AsFGUT1Go8Nyws0JmR8AmpoDW7oF more
