Open Question: I am interested in working as a mature model-how can I pursue it effectively here in Los Angeles?
A former New Yorker and Floridian, I recently relocated to downtown Los Angeles and am constantly told by men and women of all ages that I look like I'm in my late thirties or around 40 at most, while NOT wearing make-up ('m an AARP member and always have to show my driver license to prove my age!). At 5ft. 8", with shoulder length hair that's barely streaked with gray in the back, I'm still the same size 4 to 6 from my teens, college and twenties part-time modeling "for fun" days. I presently see many attractive mature models in magazines that cater to mature adults, admittedly more for products rather than editorial. Many fashion shows featuring (very gorgeous) senior, and dare I say it-gray-haired models (gasp!), are in upscale, retirement areas like Sarasota where I used to live or I imagine, in the one here in Southern CA (Laguna Woods). I'm open to (and am experienced in) department store print, hair product print, runway, trade show, and tea room, garment district showroom, cruise ship and department store fashion modeling. I would like to also do catalog and travel brochure work that caters to the mature woman for publications such as such as Appleseed's or the Tog Shop, Silversea, Seabourn, or Cunard Line luxury cruise brochures, or for magazines like More or Senior Life or even the AARP magazine. The mature market is vibrant and fashionable! Baby boomer women have plenty of disposable income. We are very interested in companies, designers, stores, cultural venues, cruise lines, resorts, magazines, etc. that are interested in the upscale, fashionable mature market. We will respond favorably to ads featuring age appropriate models such as for beauty firms anti-aging creams and hair coloring products, or cruse line and resort vacations or designer cruise and evening wear. Our market is definitely not just about insurance, medical alert and denture products. It would be very helpful to know the following: -Which agencies or agents do these companies work with to secure their models from? -How do I best approach them? -Do any of the agencies/agents hold open calls? -Do seperate agencies exist for Los Angeles Fashion District modeling (Fashion week and showroom) and trade show modeling? -Does a book, trade paper, newsletter or service organization exist with information on opportunities for mature models and feeback from mature models consistently working? -Do any agencies/casting agents accept unsolicited mailings? -Are e-mailed photos preferred over hard copy mailings? -Do I need to have my own website, blog and/or social media page(s)? -Do I need to join the Screen Extras Guild and AFTRA in oder to be eligible for jobs in videos, commercials, training films or other films? I have an 8 1/2" x 11 color head shot and am considering taking more photos in a variety of "looks". Thank you. for any suggestions you can offer . My e-mail address is vnews52@yahoo.com. Some 36% of immigrants failed to finish high school, more than double the percentage for US-born nationals. •About 15% of US citizens fall below the poverty line, compared to 29% of non-citizens. About 11% of non-citizens have incomes less than 50% of the poverty line, compared to 6% of citizens. •The number of impoverished people in the USA's immigrant-headed households nearly tripled from 2.7 million in 1979 to 7.7 million in 1997. During that same period, the number of poor households headed by immigrants increased by 123% while the number of immigrant households increased by 68%. •According to Forbes Magazine, a greater proportion of the US population is currently living in poverty than what was the case three decades ago. According to Forbes Magazine, Significantly, Hispanics accounted for a statistical 0% of the nation's poor in 1959. •Hispanics first entered the tables in 1972, making up 1.1% of the USA's poor in that year. By 1996, Hispanics made up 2.7% of the nation's poor - almost equivalent to the Black figure. Forbes Magazine identified the leap in Hispanic poverty rates as being dueto their numbers being "fed by immigration." •According to the US Census Bureau, Current Population Survey, March 2001, some 22.1% of Blacks were below the official poverty line. This compares with 21.2% of Hispanics; 10.8% of Asians and Pacific Islanders; and 7.5% of White non-Hispanics. •According to the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Institute for the Elderly in New York, about 23.8% of elderly Hispanics in the United States live in poverty, with no prospects of improvement in their situation. •In 1997, 25% of all children in California were living below the poverty line. •The number of children living in poverty in California had increased by more than 3% from 1990 to 1997. •In the Appalachia, Mississippi Delta, Black Hills, and Los Angeles areas, more than 30% of Hispanics are below the poverty line. •According to a survey by the University of California at San Francisco and the Field Institute, Latinos are 13 times more likely to be part of the working poor -- defined in the survey as a family off our earning less than $20,000. •Denver's five poorest neighborhoods are populated mostly by Hispanics that only speak Spanish, particularly in the northern part of the city. In these neighborhoods, 80% of the children receive food coupons, and are responsible for 37% of the city's crime rate. •The number of people in poverty living in immigrant households in Arizona has nearly tripled to 330,000 from 113,000 during the 1990s. During that same time, immigrant households rose to 41%, from 20% of the total of poverty-level households. •In 1996, according to the Immigration and Naturalization Service, 1.2 million newcomers joined the US population - yet fewer than 5% were admitted because of their job skills. Most of the rest were allowed in because they were relatives of US citizens or other immigrants or were refugees, and a quarter of the total were illegal immigrants. •During the 1990s, more than 1.3 million people with less than a high school education entered the USA. Ofthose who arrived in this decade, 34.4% were school dropouts. •In 1998, nearly 40% of immigrants had less than a high school education - double the share for natives, according to the 1990 census figures. The gap widens when grade school education is considered. Some 23% of immigrants have less than nine years of education, compared with just 4% of Americans. Only 8% of California Latinos have a bachelor's degree or higher, compared with 43% of Asians, 33% of whites and 24% of African Americans, according to the California Research Bureau. •Latinos in California have the highest high school dropout rate (45%), lowest college graduation rate (8%) and, not surprisingly, the lowest median income ($14,560). •The Latino education gap in California is not new. Gerard Way Biography Gerard Way is the former and singer of My Chemical Romance, an alternative punk band hailing from New Jersey. It was formed in 2001 after Gerard witnessed 9/11 and decided what he wanted to do with his life; make music. He now lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Lindsay Ballato, and his daughter, Bandit Way. My Chemical Romance is now working on their fourth record. On April 9, 1977, Donna and Donald Way celebrated the birth of their first son, Gerard Arthur Way. Three Years later, Gerard’s little brother and bassist in his band, Michael James Way, was born. He immediately looked up to Gerard, trying to run with Gerard before he could even walk. They grew up in Newark and Belleville, New Jersey. They lived in very dangerous areas. “My mom was just really apprehensive about letting me and Gerard going out and playing,” says Mikey in Life on the Murder Scene, My Chemical Romance’s tour dairy. Because of the crimes where they lived, they couldn’t go out. “What I had to do, and what my brother had to do as really just to create our own kind of space in our heads. I drew pictures, I wrote stories, I made stories up, I lied a lot, and I kind of lived in my head. Gerard attended Belleville public schools from kindergarten to twelfth grade. He attended The School of Visual Arts in New York City. In 1999, he graduated with his bachelors in fine arts. On September 11, 2001, the 24 year old Gerard witnessed the world trade center being attacked. “I’ve gotta get out of the basement. I’ve gotta see the world. I’ve gotta make a difference," Gerard told Spin magazine. He called up some old friends, Matt Pelissier and Ray Toro, and asked them to join his band. Now this unnamed band had Gerard on vocals, Matt on drums, and Ray on guitars. The first song Gerard wrote is called “Skylines and Turnstiles.” He wrote it about how 9/11 made him feel and what it made him think about. After hearing the demos the band recorded for Eyeball Records, Mikey became the bassist. He also came up with the name when he was working in the Clifton and finding a book entitled Three Tales of Chemical Romance. Frank Iero, the singer and lead guitarist of Pency Prep, joined MCR as the rhythm guitarist. Together they recorded their first album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. It was released in 2002. In 2003, My Chemical Romance signed to Reprise Records. Their second album, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, was released in 2004. In the same year, Matt was kicked out because he didn’t always get along with the other members. Bob Bryar, a good friend of the band, took his place. They toured for a year and a half before receiving a golden record. In 2006, My Chem’s third record, The Black Parade, was released. They toured for a year and have been taking a break ever since. In the time since The Parade Is Dead, MCR’s final performance as The Black Parade, their alter-ego, was filmed Gerard has married Lindsay Ballato, the bassist of Mindless Self Indulgence and had his first daughter, Bandit Lee Way. He also wrote his first graphic novel, The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite, which will be a movie in 2011. Now, they are working on their fourth album, which has 21 tracks. It will be released within the next few months.shoot this is what happens when you use wikipedia moreResolved Question: What is the recipe for Quinoa Wilted Spinach Salad?

I don't mind flying. I am a very small man, and all seats are first class for me. I like deer hunting. But I have no skills. Currenty, my best friend is a ranger, and he simply tells me where to be opening day, and I have a place with the wind blowing in my face and shoot the deer at under 50 yards. I can only hit a moving deer at about 50-60 yards. I can't find deer on my own. What state has the cheapest guided hunts? From Field and Stream magazine I think the two states for this are South Carolina or Texas. I would prefer Texas. I live in Los Angeles, and could simple drive in my Honda Hybrid (it gets great mileage) to Texas. I wrote this satirical report on robert pattinson's hair..haha, modeled it off stuff like The Union. like trying to use humor to prove a point. to show how ridiculous and trivial "hair" is in a society, or just celebs in general. well anyways ya here u go! leave comments! LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA--- Uncomfortable with the unwarranted amount of obsessive hair stylists at the Oscars last week, Robert Pattinson said Tuesday that his gelled and styled hair would have flattened right on the spot if an unruly hand of a notorious hairdresser happened to touch it. Yelling to reporters 10 feet away, the star of the Twilight films explained that he had to take desperate measures and keep his distance ever since he became the “world’s hottest vampire”, according to Seventeen magazine. “The females are the worst. They claw at me like they’re scraping at their prey! Let’s leave that to the werewolves, everyone!” said the unfortunate hair-ridden celebrity, while thanking his bodyguard for adjusting his protective hairnet he has been forced to wear. “You can look,” Pattinson added, “Just don’t bite.” This British chick-magnet reportedly has been seen by Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight books, stealing hair product from his girlfriend on-set of the new Twilight movie “Eclipse”. Sources have indicated that [Kristen Stewart] is to blame for her boyfriend’s unlucky situation. “I feel like a complete werewolf. To think that Patty (Kristen’s grungy nickname for the innocent Robert) is wearing a hairnet because of my leave-in-conditioner...I just don’t know what to say,” she testified on Monday. A local Starbucks employee later accounted that he heard the uncontrollable “normal girl” (Kristen is a typical human in Twilight) divulging to her ex, Michael Angarano, “The Volturi are going to murder me!” Poor Robert, struggling desperately to keep the crazy hairdressers away from his luscious locks, explained to People magazine that he suspected Kristen and Michael to be hairdressers as well. Sources have confirmed that there is a 16% chance of this to be true; therefore Pattinson is filing a lawsuit against the wretched ex-pair. Pattinson ended his interview with the melancholy, “I feel like everyone I know is going completely bonkers. And frankly, I don’t really wash my hair.” moreResolved Question: Have you read these *amazing* Salon.com stories "Us: Americans Talk About Love" by (bachelor) John Bowe?
Here are the stories: http://dir.salon.com/topics/american_love/ The New York Times gave a rave review of the books in which these stories are published, as well as a neat biography of the perpetually-single author John Bowe, recently: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/28/garden/28bowe.html?em It says: "It is as compelling as literary fiction, and the Los Angeles Times Magazine called it a “profound, touching work.” But it also functions as a kind of self-help manual, forcing readers to examine their own longings, failings and assumptions about love." LOS ANGELES – Once in a blue moon there is one on New Year's Eve. Revelers ringing in 2010 will be treated to a so-called blue moon. According to popular definition, a blue moon is the second full moon in a month. But don't expect it to be blue — the name has nothing to do with the color of our closest celestial neighbor. A full moon occurred on Dec. 2. It will appear again on Thursday in time for the New Year's countdown. "The New Year's Eve blue moon will be visible in the United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Africa. For partygoers in Australia and Asia, the full moon does not show up until New Year's Day, making January a blue moon month for them. A full moon occurs every 29.5 days, and most years have 12. On average, an extra full moon in a month — a blue moon — occurs every 2.5 years. The New Year's Eve blue moons are rarer, occurring every 19 years. In a tongue-in-cheek essay posted on the magazine's Web site this week, senior contributing editor Kelly Beatty wrote: "If skies are clear when I'm out celebrating, I'll take a peek at that brilliant orb as it rises over the Boston skyline to see if it's an icy shade of blue. Or maybe I'll just howl." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091230/ap_on_sc/us_sci_blue_moon moreResolved Question: Poll who is prettier? Actress Alyssa Milano, Or wwe Diva Maryse?

Dr Williams reports at the Town Hall web magazine: Detroit's (predominantly black) public schools are the worst in the nation and it takes some doing to be worse than Washington, D.C. Only 3 percent of Detroit's fourth-graders scored proficient on the most recent National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) test, sometimes called "The Nation's Report Card." Twenty-eight percent scored basic and 69 percent below basic. "Below basic" is the NAEP category when students are unable to demonstrate even partial mastery of knowledge and skills fundamental for proficient work at their grade level. It's the same story for Detroit's eighth-graders. Four percent scored proficient, 18 percent basic and 77 percent below basic. Michael Casserly, executive director of the D.C.-based Council on Great City Schools, in an article appearing in Crain's Detroit Business, (12/8/09) titled, "Detroit's Public Schools Post Worst Scores on Record in National Assessment," said, "There is no jurisdiction of any kind, at any level, at any time in the 30-year history of NAEP that has ever registered such low numbers." The academic performance of black students in other large cities such as Philadelphia, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles is not much better than Detroit and Washington. What's to be done about this tragic state of black education? The education establishment and politicians tell us that we need to spend more for higher teacher pay and smaller class size. The fact of business is higher teacher salaries and smaller class sizes mean little or nothing in terms of academic achievement. Washington, D.C., for example spends over $15,000 per student, has class sizes smaller than the nation's average, and with an average annual salary of $61,195, its teachers are the most highly paid in the nation. What about role models? Standard psychobabble asserts a positive relationship between the race of teachers and administrators and student performance. That's nonsense. Black academic performance is the worst in the very cities where large percentages of teachers and administrators are black, and often the school superintendent is black, the mayor is black, most of the city council is black and very often the chief of police is black. Black people have accepted hare-brained ideas that have made large percentages of black youngsters virtually useless in an increasingly technological economy. This destruction will continue until the day comes when black people are willing to turn their backs on liberals and the education establishment's agenda and confront issues that are both embarrassing and uncomfortable. To a lesser extent, this also applies to whites because the educational performance of many white kids is nothing to write home about; it's just not the disaster that black education is. Many black students are alien and hostile to the education process. They have parents with little interest in their education. These students not only sabotage the education process, but make schools unsafe as well. These students should not be permitted to destroy the education chances of others. They should be removed or those students who want to learn should be provided with a mechanism to go to another school. Another issue deemed too delicate to discuss is the overall quality of people teaching our children. Students who have chosen education as their major have the lowest SAT scores of any other major. Students who have an education degree earn lower scores than any other major on graduate school admission tests such as the GRE, MCAT or LSAT. Schools of education, either graduate or undergraduate, represent the academic slums of most any university. They are home to the least able students and professors. Schools of education should be shut down. Yet another issue is the academic fraud committed by teachers and administrators. After all, what is it when a student is granted a diploma certifying a 12th grade level of achievement when in fact he can't perform at the sixth- or seventh-grade level? Prospects for improvement in black education are not likely given the cozy relationship between black politicians, civil rights organizations and teacher unions.I subbed for two years, one in a suburban district about 90% White and one in an urban district about 60% Black, 25% White and the rest Asian and Hispanic. I had to deal with bad behavior in both districts, but in the urban district it was a constant. A classroom with even a little disruption is hard to learn in. The biggest problem was girls without Dads, and that was because I am an alpha type male. Only in one primary school in the urban district did the Principal encourage and enforce self-discipline in the students. That school worked. Another similar school where the Principal and teachers focused on constantly quite classrooms -- encouraging only classroom (group) behavior -- did not work. You have to be able to remove the "popcorn" -- the kids who have little ability for self-control, and allow for the remainder of the class to discuss things in good order, to have a constant low-level of discussion in order to learn. Constant silence is not education.typo: "quite" meant quiet. I preached a class management doctrine called "quietude" which is not silence, it is a low murmur of almost constant discussion, but peaceful and on topic. It does require that those students who cannot speak quietly be removed to another place. That can be a study hall or a special class for learning quietude, self-discipline. If any district or school wants to hire me to try the technique in a school or a few please email me. I'm not a educator with degree though. My degree is in Physics.G-d invented money as a tool for spiritual improvement. We all have to work for money, and be thankful for the opportunity and the chance to profit, or just to pay the bills. But if we work "for the money" we never have enough. If we work to be better persons -- and accept the hard work and constant self-challenge that means -- we do become rich. However to have respect for making a profit, honestly, is a spiritual goal to keep and mind. To accept "just getting by" may mean we are not attempting to become better persons by reaching for more difficult challenges. Still, once the bills are paid -- a job is it's own reward, and never stay in a job that is badly damaging you -- spiritually, physically. Look for a job that you enjoy! Brittany Murphy, the actor who specialised in playing disturbed young women in a series of films that had an echo of her own troubled life, has died of a heart attack aged 32. Her death was first reported by the entertainment website TMZ which said an emergency call was made at 8am today from the Los Angeles home of her husband, Simon Monjack. Her mother had found her unconscious in the shower, and when paramedics arrived they found she was in full cardiac arrest and attempted to revive her. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Cedars-Sinai medical centre. Murphy began acting as a child. She had a role in a musical version of Les Misérables when she was nine, and played her first Hollywood role – as Brenda Drexell in Drexell's Class – at 14. Her breakthrough came four years later with Clueless, a modern rendition of Jane Austen's Emma, in which she starred alongside Alicia Silverstone. Other big parts followed including Girl, Interrupted, Don't Say a Word, Uptown Girls and Sin City. In 2002 she acted in 8 Mile alongside the rapper Eminem. As a sideline, she dabbled in pop music with the 2006 hit Faster Kill Pussycat. In parallel to the successes there were periodic reports of health and other problems. Four years ago she was forced to deny to Jane magazine that her recent weight loss was connected to cocaine use. "Wow. No, just for the record I have never tried it in my entire life, I've never even seen it …My worst vice is caffeine. Can you imagine? My God. I think my heart would explode," she said. Last month Monjack, a British screenwriter, was rushed to hospital having been taken ill on a plane. Murphy told medical staff she thought it had been an asthma attack but they were reported to think it more serious, though the causes were not made public. A few days later Murphy abruptly left the production of her latest film The Caller. Her PR agents said she had quit because of "creative differences" but entertainments sites reported she had been dropped from the film because she was difficult to work with on set in Puerto Rico and Monjack had allegedly fought with local people. moreResolved Question: What do you think of these people and their comments regarding Islam?

Sometime, not too long ago, while no one was watching, Canada became the world’s most successful country. It might have happened in the late 1990s, when this nation perfected the unique and virtuous circle of low interest rates, low inflation, balanced budgets, and paid-up pension funds. Or perhaps it emerged in 2001, when the latest census revealed we had become possibly the world’s most urban country (80 per cent of us live in cities);1 that nearly one Canadian in five arrived here from somewhere else; that Toronto, with 44 per cent of its population foreign-born, was more diverse than Miami, Los Angeles, or Sydney; and that by 2017, when Canada celebrates its 150th birthday, one Canadian in five will be a member of a visible minority. It might have been celebrated in any of those years over the past decade when the United Nations Human Development Index ranked Canada as one of the world’s most desirable countries in which to live. For the culturati, 2002 was a particularly good year: three of six finalists for the Booker Prize for best new novel were Canadian — our Yann Martel won for Life of Pi — and Margaret Macmillan’s Paris 1919 was praised on both sides of the Atlantic as the best non-fiction book in years, while jocks rejoiced over Canada’s gold medal in hockey at the Winter Olympics. Pop-music buffs may insist Canada reached its zenith in 2005, when Spin magazine, the New York Times, and TIME Canada all declared that Montreal offered the most influential independent music scene in North America. moreResolved Question: Do you live in Los Angeles, CA and have a band tattoo?

Isabel Allende was born on August 2, 1942, in Lima, Peru. Her parents, Tomás and Francisca Allende divorced when she was only three. After the divorce Isabel traveled with her mother to Santiago, Chile, where she was raised in her grandparents' home. Allende graduated from a private high school at the age of sixteen. Three years later, in 1962, she married her first husband, Miguel Frías, an engineer. Allende also went to work for the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization in Santiago, where she was a secretary for several years. Later she became a journalist, editor, and advice columnist for Paula magazine. In addition she worked as a television interviewer and newscaster. When her uncle, Chilean president Salvador Allende , was assassinated in 1973 as part of a military takeover of the government, Isabel Allende's life changed greatly. At first she did not think that the new government would last, but later she realized that it was too dangerous to stay in Chile. So her husband, and their two children fled to Venezuela. Despite the fact she had established a successful career as a journalist in Chile, she had a difficult time finding similar work in Venezuela. During her life in exile Isabel was inspired to write her debut novel, The House of the Spirits , which became a best seller in Spain and West Germany. Based on Isabel's memories of her family and the political change in her native country, the book describes the personal and political conflicts in the lives of several generations of a family in a Latin American country. These events are communicated through the memories of the novel's three main characters: Esteban and Clara, the father and mother of the Trueba family, and Alba, their granddaughter who falls into the hands of torturers during a military takeover. The House of the Spirits earned the Quality Paperback Book Club New Voice Award nomination. The novel was adapted by the Danish writer and director Bille August and was released as a film in the United States in 1994. The House of Spirits was followed by Of Love and Shadows, which concerns the switching at birth of two infant girls. One of the babies grows up to become the focus of a journalist's investigation, and the revelation of the woman's assassination compels the reporter and her photographer to go into exile. The novel received a Los Angeles Times Book Prize nomination. While on a lecture tour in San Jose, California, to promote the publication of Of Love and Shadows in the United States, Allende met William Gordon, a lawyer, who was an admirer of her work . Having been divorced from her first husband for about a year, she married Gordon in 1988 and has lived with him in Marin, California, ever since. As she became more popular, Allende decided to devote all of her time to writing and quit her job as a school administrator. Her next book, Eva Luna. The novel received positive reviews and was voted One of the Year's Best Books by Library Journal. Allende followed up this novel with The Stories of Eva Lu. The Eva Luna stories were followed by The Infinite Plan. The Infinite Plan received less praise than Allende's previous books. Still, as novelist Jane Smiley pointed out in her Boston Globe review, Not many authors from foreign countries have even attempted writing a novel from the point of view of a native of the new country. Allende's next work, Paula , was a heartbreaking account of the circumstances surrounding the long illness and death of her daughter in 1991. Published in 1999 Daughter of Fortune is the story of Eliza Sommers, a girl who breaks with nineteenth-century Chilean tradition to follow her lover to California. In September 1996 Allende was honored at the Hispanic Heritage Awards for her contributions to the Hispanic American community. In 1998 she received the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize for excellence in the arts. One of the side issues in the debate over health care reform concerns the extent to which undocumented workers could, would, or should be covered. Some people fear (and assume) that many illegal aliens are already obtaining medical care fraudulently; and millions of dollars have been poured into detecting such fraud. But workers searching for fraud in Los Angeles County have had trouble finding it. In fact, a recent report suggests their efforts may be a boondoggle. I admit that I didn't see the original Los Angeles Times story, but instead saw a striking bit in Governing magazine's blog under the heading "The Daily Digit," which is sort of like the Harpers' index, an arresting number. In this case: Zero. Number of illegal immigrants posing as legal residents caught attempting to receive California Medicaid benefits in Los Angeles County since the county began implementing tougher federal verification rules in July 2008, for which the county has received nearly $28 million in state and federal funds and posted 81 people in 27 social service department offices to check documents. . Now, you've got to admit, no matter what your leanings are on this subject, the number "zero" catches your eye. The special fraud-detection unit has "not found one illegal immigrant who posed as a legal resident to get benefits," the Los Angeles Times reported earlier this month. "Fewer than 1 percent of applicants between July 2008 and February 2009 lacked the proper documents and many of those applicants eventually produced them." "It's been a big effort without a whole lot of payback," Deborah Walker, county director of Medi-Cal, admitted to The Los Angeles Times. Advocates for tighter restrictions on immigration often argue that a host of new verification requirements will be essential for health care reform -- not so much to catch illegal immigrants, as to deter them, from gaining access to health care. Opponents say overly restrictive rules can backfire. They can trip up U.S. citizens and legal residents in red tape -- very costly red tape -- without having much affect on illegal residents. No doubt both sides will have more to say; no one study or capture of data from a moment in time can be definitive. But this finding certainly gives new meaning to the idea of zeroing in on fraud http://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/index.ssf/2009/10/zeroing_in_on_fraud.html moreResolved Question: Is Rupert Murdock the greatest capitalist ever?

I'd like 2 know s'more info on American cities declinin' in population over the past few decades. So far, I discovered on a Wikipedia article on "Shrinking cities" a short list of U.S. cities that lost @ least 20% of their population, including St. Louis, MO & Detroit, MI. But so far, I can't find more in-depth info on the web just from that Wiki article. I do know that the reasons for such cities losing inhabitants are there are other cities in better climates (e.g. cities in the Sun Belt) or a poor economy, particularly in a specific city. I have read the Time Magazine issue about Detroit's diminishing populace. & I would guess that plenty of these shrinking cities would be in the Great Lakes or Northeast regions. I also understand that cities such as St. Louis, Milwaukee, & San Francisco used to be premier locales probably in the 19th century. I know that S.F. was an important city on the Pacific coast in the Americas b4 the boomtown flourishing of Los Angeles. & St. Louis also hosted the 1904 Olympics, even if the Games in 1904 were dramatically different from those in 2004. moreResolved Question: Where can I find a good anime store?
I really am in need of a good Japanese store that sells manga, anime, and cosplay in San Jose, California. I've already checked Nikaku Japanese Arts, where it only has posters of old anime, magazines, and manga and Anime V, which doesn't exist in my area. Plus, I can't go anywhere that is too far (about 3-5 hours) to get there like San Francisco or Los Angeles. Or maybe you could give me a website where the costumes are under $100. moreResolved Question: How did Michael Moore become a multimillionaire since "‘Capitalism Did Nothing For Him"?
According to Fortune Magazine, Moore’s films have grossed over $300 million worldwide. Moore reportedly was paid $21 million by Disney for producing, directing and creating the film. Moore also earned 50 percent of the profits of his 2007 film “Sicko,” totaling $25 million plus DVD sales, according to Vanity Fair. The Los Angeles Times reported that Moore would receive all of the profits made from DVD sales of “Sicko,” sales of which have been estimated at over $17 million. On The Changing View of The HellFire Doctrine? POPE JOHN PAUL II REJECTS REALITY OF A LITERAL HELL For centuries the Catholic Church had taught that hell is a place where the souls of wicked people suffer eternal torment. Apparently, that has changed. Hell “is not a punishment imposed externally by God,” says Pope John Paul II, “but a development of premises already set by people in this life.” So reports L’Osservatore Romano. “Rather than a place,” the pontiff says, “hell indicates the state of those who freely and definitively separate themselves from God, the source of all life and joy.” He adds that “eternal damnation” is not God’s work; rather, “it is the creature who closes himself to [God’s] love.”The Religion News Service reported that a Vatican-approved editorial published several weeks ago in the Jesuit journal Civilta Cattolica agrees with the pope's latest pronouncement. The editorial explicitly pronounced, "Hell exists, not as a place but as a state, a way of being of the person who suffers the pain of the deprivation of God" (Los Angeles Times, 7-31-99). The pope said eternal damnation is "not God's work but is actually our own doing." Such a statement on hell is strikingly similar to that made by Billy Graham several years ago in which he was quoted, The only thing I could say for sure is that hell means separation from God. We are separated from his light, from his fellowship. That is going to be hell. When it comes to a literal fire, I don't preach it because I'm not sure about it.(Time magazine, 1 1-1 5-93) moreResolved Question: FAILURE: Mayor Of Los Angeles...what magazine cover was that?

I am Markiesha Scott, a struggling single mother, and a struggling model. I've been wanting to model for magazines, shows, catalogs, commercials, music videos and maybe do alittle acting. I've been scammed before by 2 perverts and a very good liar, but I never gave up... its just as I get older it gets alittle harder. Halle Berry is my idol and I am just as good as she. I want to be the next Halle Berry, Vida Guerra, Heidi Klum & Stacey Dash. I have the looks, the adrenalin to win, the personality and the motive. I posted photos on my facebook & myspace page hoping that someone would see me. I came across a celebrity on Facebook who seem to have a deep interest in me. We've talked over the phone several times and he said he'd help me with my ambition, come to find out he wanted something beyond that was beyond disrespectful... so I broke it off. I've contacted modeling agents and I received no reply. I'm from Philadelphia but with the little money that I have, I'm willing to fly to Los Angeles or drive to Atlanta. WHERE DO I GO!! WHO DO I TALK TO!! WHERE DO I SEND MY PHOTO'S TO?? moreResolved Question: Is this the biggest non story of today ever?

When I came to this country. They promise me a land filled with white dadies with blue/green eyes that measure 5'10 on average that live in the green suburbs. I was so exited! But thats not where mom brought me to. My neighboorhood is filled with mexicans and latinos everywhere. When I attended public school in Los Angeles, there were only few white heads popping. When I go to the grocery store all I see is latino people working. Lets not mention who is in the bus and the bus stop. There is a lot of Latino own bussineses in my neighboorhod. They all look so ugly, and men are so short. I think they are more amerindian than spaniord. You can never wear nothing too nice if your a girl, because they all come to you like ants. Especially, the first generation latinos. Mami!!!!! Mua!! Hola!!!!! And they all stare at you like sexual predators. Latina first generation woman are all accostume by the pervs. "At least they think your pretty", they tell me. Check and cashing places everywhere, windows plaster with prepaid cards(El Toro, Mundial, Salvador, Guatemala, Uni, etc...). And the licour stores with women in there bikinis seling beer. There is so much street life, every corner someone selling produce, tamales, taco trucks, pirate movies, phone accesories, just out been drunk, hanging by the liquor store, WESTER UNION and pupusas. And that old lady that sales this nice big avocados outside of John's. Oh I smost forgot, taxi bussiness cards and Jahova witness people handiling magazines and latino youngsters tagging everywhere. I just stare at them and they stop....Sometimes I ask myself If I live in America or in Mexico?.. I always tell latino men that why would I want to date them? If I wanted to date a Mexican I would of stay in Mexico. But my birth certificate says im American so thats why I am here. Just so you know, I am Mexican- American..I spend my childhood in Guadalajara, Mexico. But I move back here in my early teenage years. My family is all Mexican, Im am the only naturally born American citizen of my family. Half of the family is from Mexico and two of my family members where illigals(mother and brother) but who just became American citizen through naturalization. Becoming a poor underclass uneducated, illiterate and anaphabet woman my mother became to this foreignland. To work for level entree low wage positions.Oh perhaps, I was just became going to become a poor a second genaration latina dauther with a first generation mother but we were going to live with american poor folks.Soon enough the American lifestyle, values and norms were going to be normally assimilated by me not my mother because she is first generation stubborn woman holding to her native values of course. But in reality I was to live in degenated getto poor latino neighboorhoods where everybody is either first and second generation latino people. And the second generation latino youngersters that do live here. Don't exactly think, act live American white folks. They tend to wear white plain t-shirts, baggy pants jeans hanging and showing their lovely gluteus. They shave their head like if they were enlighted monks when instead they are to become the street tagger, smoking drugs and becoming abnixiuos teenager bcause they come from a poor latino family who come to the home to tire to educate them like people. Actually, they cannot educated them, they don't know America and no money to pay for private school. So the second generation floods the public school and kids basically raise themselves. And in big inner cities like Los Angeles they become idnetify withn the "Urban Style" and "attitude". So, are they mainstream Americans because they are second generation? No..... Their neighboorhoods and their values represent of a minority holding on to their distorded latino values and bit of American distorded assimilation. Not Americam moreResolved Question: lufthansa question how do i...?
