Resolved Question: Why do supporters of illegals believe illegals should not be arrested in raids when found breaking the law?
police swooped down on two Maryland restaurants, taking into custody dozens of employees. Suzanne Collins reports their documentation is being checked to see if they are in this country legally. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided the Timbuktu Restaurant near BWI Airport around 10 a.m. Thursday. Records were removed from the offices, and employees were arrested. Anne Arundel County police helped. "In this case, a number of warrants were issued to the owner of the restaurant, who may have hired illegal immigrants, also the harboring of illegal immigrants in houses nearby," said John Leopold, Anne Arundel County Executive. Police activity also occurred at two homes right next to Timbuktu, but ICE wouldn't confirm what was going on there. WJZ also learned a restaurant in Middle River, By The Docks, was also the location of a search and seizure Thursday. Twenty-nine people of different nationalities were taken into custody and driven in vans to Baltimore ICE offices. CASA de Maryland, an advocacy group for Latino immigrants, says these raids are wrong. It's their belief this should be solved with national immigration reform. "I think by arresting people, they will terrorize the community, and the community would be even scared to answer a census form," said Tarsila Talarico, CASA de Maryland. ICE says it's committed to stopping illegal employment schemes utilizing illegal labor, and that businesses that do that have an unfair advantage. "There are many small businesses in this county, state, nation that play by the rules, follow labor laws. They pay taxes, and they're seriously undercut by those employers who hire illegal immigrants," said Leopold. ICE says it did not take the restaurant owners into custody, but the investigation is continuing. http://wjz.com/local/immigration.customs.enforcement.2.1554621.html Are they saying by arresting lawbreakers this will terrorize the community,is this the same as saying nobody should be arrested for any crimes , if it will terrorize the community per CASA de Maryland that even dangerous illegals should not be arrested if it will terrorize the community and dangerous illegals are free to committ and do any crime they want under the guise of if it will terrorize the community the police must not arrest the dangerous illegals but allow them to go free ? moreResolved Question: Should convicted rapists be allowed to live in a halfway house for recovering addicts?
A close male member of my immediate family currently lives in a halfway house, after completing a 28-day drug addiction in-patient treatment program. He has lived in the house, which holds a maximum of 13 men, for 5 months now, and will have completed the 6 month program very soon. It is important to him for personal and legal reasons that he stay living in the house until he completes the program. He is serious about his recovery, and has been working hard to change his old behaviors, ways of thinking, and coping mechanisms. He does everything he is supposed to do, including regularly attending NA meetings, keeping with the house rules, and being open about his thoughts, feelings, fears, etc. All in all, he is really on the right path for lifelong recovery. Recently a man in his late 40's moved into the house. We will call him "James." Shortly after James moved into the house, another resident was checking the Maryland sex offender registry, out of curiosity, to see how many sex offenders were living close by. He then made the shocking discovery that James was registered. He wasn't extremely troubled until he read the details. James is registered as a "Sexually Violent Offender" and his charge is listed as Rape: 2nd Degree. My relative and I looked up James on the Maryland Judiciary Case Search for more detail on his charges. This is what we found: (Each line is a separate case) non-sexual offenses: BURGLARY-FOURTH DEGREE Unauthorized Use Of Boat TRESPASS:PRIVATE PROPERTY TELEPHNE: CALL REPEAT/ABUSE/HARASS ALC. BEV./INTOX:ENDANGER + DIS COND-PUBLIC PLACE DEADLY WEAPON-CONCEAL ASSAULT W/INTENT MAIM ETC + BATTERY + DEADLY WEAPON - CONCEAL ****** all one case: RAPE FIRST DEGREE - RAPE SECOND DEGREE - SEX OFFENSE THIRD DEGREE - BURGLARY-FIRST DEGREE - SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT - THEFT:PLUS $300 - CAR THEFT - RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT ***** another rape case, very similar: RAPE FIRST DEGREE + RAPE SECOND DEGREE + ASSAULT-FIRST DEGREE + ASSAULT-SEC DEGREE + SEX OFFENSE FIRST DEGREE + SEX OFFENSE SECOND DEGREE + SEX OFFENSE THIRD DEGREE + SEX OFFENSE FOURTH DEGREE + BURGLARY-FIRST DEGREE + BURGLARY-THIRD DEGREE + THEFT: $300 PLUS VALUE + MOTOR VEH/UNLAWFUL TAKING ... do we see a pattern here? (BTW - This guy only spent 18 years behind bars total.) Anyhow, back to the point.. many other residents are concerned (to say the least) about having him live with them. A few of the guys expressed their feelings to the house manager, and all he had to say was "everyone deserves a second chance. There's nothing I can do about it." He hardly even showed them any inkling of caring about how THEY felt, the MAJORITY of the residents who are seeking recovery. I asked my relative to bring me a copy of the handbook for the halfway house, and this is what I found: 10. The following persons will be denied admission to the halfway house: ... c. Persons who have a history of violent and assaultive behavior even when not under the influence of alcohol or dugs; d. Persons who are suicidal, arsonists, or rapists; ... g. Persons who are being released from prisons. Well, obviously James falls under at least person's listed in "d" and "c." We are currently waiting for a call back from the Executive Director of the rehab center that is in charge of the halfway house. My questions are.. do you think James should be allowed to live there, even if it wasn't stated clearly in the handbook that he shouldn't be admitted? Do you think the quoted section of the handbook implies that the residents currently living in the house will be protected from people with a history such as James'? And last but not least if, after speaking to the Executive Director, if James is not removed from the house, is there anything that can be done further to get him out of there? I appreciate any help or suggestions we can get with this matter. Thanks.I want to add that most of the men living in the house have wives and children. My relative has a wife (who is a rape survivor), and 2 daughters from a previous relationship ages 9 and 12. Therefore, he and most of the other men in the house obviously have to struggle daily with being face to face with this person, and their feelings of wanting to basically rip this guys _____ off, only making the situation that much worse. And please feel free to share any feelings or opinions you personally have about this situation. moreResolved Question: Can i take someone to court on a count of fraud/time wasted/and gas?
I responded to a craigslist add to buy an xbox for 200 dollars. this person orgional said he was comign to my house to sell it to me, but it turned into meeting halfway, to me going from va to md to meet him. in total i spent from 2-7 going where he told me to. i basically waited in part of maryland he told me to as he made a billion excuses for why hes running late.(drive was 30 mins so its not like i spent much of this time driving to md) my favorite excuse was he took his mom to ER. he also claimed traffic was an issue(i was there and there was no traffic wahtsoever in middle of the day) he eventually told me to meet him at a wendy's on rockville pike where i waited for over an hour. (i spent previous wait time in a random parking lot in city he told me to go to. he told me id get the adress when i was in city. and he kept promising to give me phone number. i gave him both my nubmer and address several times. he never called. so as i was waiting at wendys he kept saying how he wanted to meet outside and blah blah. so eventaully after waiting for hours and realizing this guy is playing with me i start searching whitepages for the last name carey (his email address had carey in it) i find his mom and she says he will be back around 8 from night classes!!! so on my way home i get a call from him verbally assaulting me calling me a stalker for looking up his phone number(i never said anything to his mom except if kevin was there) and he claims he sold it to a friend at around 2 (meaning he was toying with me the WHOLE TIME!!!!) so then i call his momw hen i get home and she said he never even had an xbox and that he is a pathological liar. I wasted sooooo much gas driving around and got caught in so much traffic because of him in all this went from 2-8:30 but 2-7 is when i was in md waiting. can i make a case from this? moreResolved Question: I have filed for expungement in Prince George's County, Maryland, What is this Form 4-508.1 ?

Whats gonna happen now?
okay, so my friend and i were at kmart last saturday (today is wednesday) and we got caught as we were walking out. i believe she had a total of $47 and i had $101 or something around there. after we were confronted, we were walked to an office in the back where they took down our info and took back the merchandise. they had us sign some paper work and then called the police and our parents. when the police got there they took down our information as well and searched us for anything else. after that they said i would get a letter in the mail about whats going to happen next. i was crying the whole time because this is the first time this has happened to me, and im really concerned about the effects it will have about getting jobs in the future and if my college will revoke their acceptance. im already accepted so im hoping that's not the case. i know what i did was wrong and i feel horrible, disgraced and disgusted with myself. im already working through repentance with my church, but the aspect of going to court is really nerve racking for me. so here are my questions for anyone who has experienced this situation or knows of someone who has: -what do you think the court will most likely decide? -what would be the fine i would have to pay for this? (they said they could charge me up to 3 times what i took. so that would be $303) -will this be wiped off my record once i turn 18, or once i complete my possible assigned community service hours? (im turning 17 next week) and i live in maryland by the way if that makes a difference. thank you for your help. moreVoting Question: What Supreme Court opinions should a law student be familiar with?
Hi everyone, I'm in high school, and I plan on going to law school. I'm not asking this so that I'll be prepared, I'm asking because I enjoy reading these opinions. I'm already familiar with the following cases: Marbury v. Madison McCulloch v. Maryland Terry v. Ohio Roe v. Wade South Dakota v. Dole New Jersey v. TLO Tinker v. DeMoins Gibbons v. Odgen I'm also familiar with some lesser cases regarding students rights, search and seizure, and a little bit of federalism. Please, no Business related cases unless it has something to do with limiting the power of government. I'm looking for a good read, not necessarily some groundbreaking precedent. Thank you! :-)Thank you michael, I should have included it, but I was hoping for some lesser known, less revolutionary cases. Again, I'm not trying to build a grand knowledge of important cases, I just want to have some fun. Thanks again! moreResolved Question: What do U think of these lastest arrests & the amount of fruad involved Illegals try to bribe DMV?
Three Hispanics believed to be here illegally face charges of bribing a Gaston County driver license examiner with $300 to get a driver’s license, according to arrest warrants and affidavits. DMV inspectors arrested Claudia Morales Rodriguez, 29, and Alfredo Lopez Hernandez, 29, both of Gastonia, and Juan Alberto Goddy Vasquez, 37, of Kings Mountain on charges of attempting to bribe a state driver license examiner to obtain a driver’s license. All three are believed to be in the country illegally, according to the DMV. They were placed in Gaston County Jail under $10,000 bonds Monday. Their release remains on hold by Immigration and Customs Enforcement pending a review of their immigration status, according to Gaston County Sheriff's Office. The arrests stem from an investigation of a document lab that had equipment and materials to manufacture counterfeit resident alien cards, Social Security cards, birth certificates and driver licenses from six states, according to a release from the Department of Motor Vehicles. DMV inspectors arrested Mario Ziranda, 35, and Elvis Sanchez, 28, at their residence at 272 Roberson Lane, Forest City. They face charges of common law forgery, manufacturing North Carolina driver licenses, felony trafficking of identification documents, possession and delivery of cocaine and misuse of vital records. Searching the Forest City residence revealed ledgers showing hundreds of fake document sales weekly, according to the release. Driver licenses from California, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Ohio and North Carolina were found at the location, along with Social Security cards and a Maryland birth certificate. Investigators also seized $8,000 in cash and 15 grams of cocaine. Sanchez has no legal United States documentation, according to the release. Both are being held on $75,000 secured bond in Rutherford County Jail. DMV spokeswoman Marge Howell said she didn’t know how the three suspects in Gaston County were connected to the Rutherford County suspects, but all were part of the same investigation. “We have had a lot of these things happen, pop up all over the state,” Howell said. The License and Theft Bureau performs more than 3,600 fraud investigations annually, Howell said. “A lot of them are fraudulent document cases,” Howell said. License and theft inspectors from Gaston, Burke, Lincoln, Catawba and Cleveland counties conducted the investigations and made the arrests, according to the release. Law enforcement officials from the Gastonia Police Department, Forest City Police Department and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrests. Gastonia Police Sgt. Jimmy West said none of the trio arrested in Gaston County spoke English. One had been here 15 years, another had been here for nine years and the third had been here for six years, he said. “We’ve always had issues with fake driver’s licenses, fake ID cards,” West said. This isn’t the first investigation like this in the county and it won’t be the last, West said. In July, two Hispanic men offered $400 each to a local DMV license examiner to get N.C. driver’s licenses while a third tried to use the identity of someone else to obtain one for him. They, too, were believed to be in the country illegally. “When they come out here they’re looking for a better life. You can’t fault them for that,” West said. “But they don’t do it the right way.” http://www.gastongazette.com/news/bribes-37934-offering-office.html moreResolved Question: I just wrote my first brief for Con Law. Did I do it right?
MARYLAND STATE CONFERENCE OF NAACP BRANCHES v. MARYLAND STATE POLICE 1. The Maryland State Conference of the NAACP has brought charges against the Maryland State Police stating that they violated the plantiffs' Fourth and Fourteenth amendment rights during a traffic stop. 2. This case is being heard in the District Court of Maryland, as the charges are being brought against a State Agency. 3. The Plaintiffs were driving with the flow of traffic along I-95 in Maryland when a State Police Officer began to follow them. The Officer then stopped the plaintiffs several miles later. Upon approach of the vehicle, the officer made verbal acknowledgement of the plaintiffs' races, and harrassed them, calling them "Jamaicans" and stated that there had been problems with people of that race in the area, even though the plaintiffs were not Jamaican. The officer then proceeded to, without probable cause, remove the plaintiffs from the vehicle and search the vehicle thoroughly without consent. The initial reason for the traffic stop is stated by the Officer to have been "speeding." 4. The question is whether or not the 4th and 14th amendment rights of the Plaintiffs had been violated. If, in fact, the events happened as the Plaintiffs suggest, their 4th amendment rights would have been violated when the officer removed the Plaintiffs from the vehicle and thoroughly searched it, and their 14th amendment rights would have been violated when the officers did not provide them with due process in regards to the extensive search of the vehicle. 5. The two sides of the case are the State and the Plaintiffs, the NAACP members. The State contends that: the incident in question did not take place. The accused Officer states that the Plaintiffs were never removed from their vehicle and never searched. The Plaintiffs contend that: they were unlawfully and unconstitutionally racially profiled against in this stop and were, in fact, searched and constitutionally violated. 6. The Court finds that the conduct by the arresting Officer towards the Plaintiffs was a violation of the Plaintiffs constitutional rights to unreasonable search and seizure. moreResolved Question: Why does my court case show an amendment date?
I am scheduled for a hearing on 8/21 for second degree assault in Maryland. I was researching my case on MD case search, and it now shows under the charges/ disposition section, an amendment date of 8/11. The charges haven't changed on the case search site--actually nothing has changed other than that amendment date. What is the amendment for? Can they change my charges without telling me and without changing the posting online? moreResolved Question: What's so bad about racial profiling?
I'm a black guy. I live in a predominately black area. Most of the crime in my area is black on black crime. So what's so wrong about racial profiling? If you look like a criminal, act like a criminal, talk like a criminal and listen to the same kinds of music popular with violent criminals why shouldn't you be hassled by the cops until you prove to them that you are not a criminal? I've heard all the arguments about racial profiling. And I have been involved in it myself as a citizen. In my vast experience, if you are driving a car that is registered to you, you have a valid driver's license, and you carry proof of insurance, and you're not under the influence, you won't have a problem after being pulled over for a minor infraction. You get a ticket, you pay it, and that's the end of it. That's just municipal revenue enhancement. It goes on everywhere. it's part of the privilege of driving. Get used to it. If however, you yell at the cop, can't produce your documentation, have illegal substances or guns in your car, or are driving while under the influence, then you have a problem. But my point is that if you have any of these problems, you shouldn't be driving...especially in a neighborhood where little kids are playing near or in the street. In my opinion, Professor Henry Gates is a cantankerous old coot with a chip on his shoulder. And even though he acted in an unruly fashion when confronted by the police, because of who he was, he was released and the charges dropped. Meanwhile, on the same day, a black family in Baltimore, MD was having a graduation party for their daughter. Some gang-bangers did a drive by shooting at the house where the party was being held. In the Maryland case, the victims were black, witnesses said that the shooters were black. And the two-year-old who took a bullet in the head and died was black. Unfortunately, the latter experience is more in line with the typical black experience in America today, not the former. Gates claimed that police profiling was the most prevalent experience for blacks living in America. I say, he is wrong. Had some police officer somewhere pulled that car over and did a search for weapons, an entire family would not be in mourning today. It makes little difference whether the drivers and passengers in a car are black, Mexican, white, or Arabic. If they look like they're up to no good, then a policeman who is doing his job should want to see their documentation and do a search. You people (liberals) who have never been the victim of a violent crime are unqualified to weigh in on this debate. But I ask you, if someone looks like a killer, acts like a killer, talks like a killer, dresses like a criminal, listens to the same music that is popular with gangbangers and thugs, why shouldn't the police give him or her the third degree until they prove they engaged in criminal activity (yet)? My question to you is, if you are a student, an athlete, or some other non-criminal category why would you work so hard to look like a criminal? And if you CHOOSE to look like a criminal, why shouldn't you be hassled? Answer me that? Until you've buried a loved one, or spent time in a hospital emergency room after having crossed paths with an actual criminal don't cry to me about police profiling (racial or otherwise). And don't try to have this question removed again. It is not abusive, it is not in violation of the Yahoo community standards. It is something you should all be thinking about as the Obama economy gets worse and crime increases in your neck of the woods as a result. moreResolved Question: Does West Virginia have a website where you can search court cases?

The state of Maryland recently went after my ex, i appeared as a witness, after he attacked me and kidnapped me from my home. He also attacked my current boyfriend when he came to find me/help me. We just went to court and he was sentenced to 6 days in jail, served on weekends only (it was 180 days in jail..but he was able to get only 6 days in jail)...and was sentenced to unsupervised probation. I just looked it up on the Maryland Judiciary Case Search site and saw that he has another court date in December, called a Reconsideration hearing. Does anyone know what a Reconsideration hearing is? I am so tired of seeing him and going to court. I haven't recieved anything in the mail so I dont even know if this applies to me....But it makes me wonder, if I will have to go back again... Please let me know anything that you know....His charges were: *Second Degree Assault (2 Counts) *4th Degree Sex Offense *Kidnapping I dont think they would be reconsidering his sentence or probation, b/c considering his charges, he got pretty lucky with the mild sentence they gave him...OKAY, SO SECOND QUESTION NEEDED ANSWERING... Hi! My brother was given a citation for Theft under $500 in October 2006. He went to court, in March 2007, plead guilty and received probation before judgement since it was his first offense. He had to complete 1 year of unsupervised probation and 40 hours of community service which he did and his probation ended March 2008. When we go to Maryland Judiciary Case Search, his record still says he's on probation. When he goes to apply for jobs, employees do not hire him and tell him it is because he is on probation per his background investigation. Should it say Probation or be changed to show that the case is closed? This is really affecting job searches and he understands his wrong doing. What should he do or is this record of case status always going to say Probation? Help! moreResolved Question: How old do you have to be to work at Barnes and Noble or Michaels?

people always say because Maryland is "near" DC/Baltimore, even though areas near DC/Baltimore are really bad and crime-ridden (and YET houses are still expensive), and even though in most cases you have ton drive quite a ways even to get to these cities. And I would not even care about being near a big city. I just need to find a cheap house, and I would not even mind going to another state, but my father doesn't want to leave Maryland and I myself still can't drive even though I am 21 because I have not learned how to drive, and it is too difficult a process to get a license in Maryland. I just don't get it. So PD charged friend with theft/scheme500+ which is a felony in MD... the charge is alot of little charges that total over $500(under $1000 total)... So we come to find out that the officer called the DA before he had any proof or anything(strictly the information from the person charging my friend with the crime)...So the Officer called the DA to see if it were worth persuing because it was from over 2 years prior. (wasn't brought up until 2.5 years later after a dispute between the accuser and accused). It was immediatly called Theft/scheme500+ when he talked with the DA.. because if it were anything else the statute of limitations would have been up. So question.. can Cop/DA charge a person of a felony offense strictly off the testimony of the accuser? then start the search for evidence? and what are your thought of this case? don't they have to have some kind of proof before they can accuse you? moreResolved Question: How can I find a court decision where a tenant's lease was not terminated when he returned the keys (MD)?
I was recently humiliated in court during a landlord-tenant dispute because my roommate returned his keys to me before he left and therefore (according to the judge) I could not collect rent from him for the time I was trying to replace him (in a house I lease, not own). This is despite two contracts that clearly state he will pay for the room until he finds his own replacement. So I'm stuck paying for my room and his empty room. I need at least one case opinion/court decision, or link to an opinion where a tenant's responsibilities were not terminated when he handed in the keys. The case needs to be in Maryland, preferably PG county district court or a higher court of Maryland. If the lease was not terminated because the tenant remained at the property after returning the keys or because his property remained at the house after he returned the keys, it would be that much more helpful. At very least, where can I search myself for this kind of information? Thanks. moreResolved Question: What free site can I use for Pennsylvania criminal records search and also West Virginia? Thank You?

If you don't like to read don't bother to answer just move on. Will Illegal aliens turn an Airline (they plan on boycotting) in to be one of most secured in the world? Brian Mathews called his mother from the plane Thanksgiving morning, gleefully reporting that Southwest Airlines had let him board first in San Diego and thanked the uniformed Marine over the intercom for his service On Thanksgiving night, he had a second date with a woman he had been text-messaging from his post at Camp Pendleton, Calif. After a traditional dinner at his parents' house, he was picked up shortly after 10 p.m. by Jennifer Bower, 24. Ten minutes later, a Nissan Sentra driven by a 25-year-old Laurel man with a blood alcohol level that police say was four times the legal limit slammed into Ms. Bower's stopped Toyota Corolla at a red light on Route 175 at Route 108 This particular article fails to mention Eduardo Raul Morales-Soriano's prior arrests. I looked him up on the Maryland Judiciary Case Search and found the following: How do you get away with that many arrest how ? Howard County police and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials began investigating his immigration status yesterday. What a sad, tragic, preventable loss of two young lives. Morales-Soriano should have been imprisoned after the second DUI. I can only hope some DA and judge have to answer to the public.Ricky stop whinning moreTop Maryland Case Search Links
