Resolved Question: Menu for baby shower, 20 people (possibly 5 more)?

On 08/04/07 I'm hosting my friends baby shower at her mother's house. Unfortunately, her mother would prefer that no one use her kitchen (Heaven forbid that someone mess it or the house up) so I have to prepare the food at my house & drive it 10 minutes up the road. The shower will be outside (that sounds kind of funny, ha, ha), there were 2 people that offered to bring a dish & I'm doing the rest by myself. Here's what we have so far: Bruschetta with melted cheese (someone is bringing) Fruit salad or fruit platter (someone is bringing) Spanakopita (home made) Stuffed mushrooms (home made) Pinwheel sandwiches (home made, chicken, roast beef) Potstickers (home made) Spinach dip (home made) Crab cakes (Maryland blue crab) Mini Quiches (Costco) Green salad & various dressings And for the baby shower cake a 4 layer home made cheesecake (plain, key lime, chocolate & raspberry swirl). Do you think I'm missing anything? Thoughts?I was also thinking about pigs in a blanket, tequitos (cut in half with dipping sauce). Do you think I need these or is the above menu enough? The 1st 2 items on my list are being brought by other people the rest I am making with the exception of the cake (my friends sister is making that) & the potstickers (got my aunt & mother to donate their expertise there). The mother-to-be is doing the beverages (bottled water & canned soda). The shower is from 12pm until 3pm, 20 people RSVP'd, 5 are still unaccounted for & will not respond to phone calls or emails (how rude! ha, ha) so they may or may not show up. Thanks for your thoughts & answers!!I didn't want to do the traditional foods that you just purchased at the store (meat & cheese trays, fruit trays, veggie trays, etc.). Hmmm, I wonder if I should make my own veggie tray or if the salad is enough? Maybe an artichoke dip & tortilla chips?JoshuaB: The mother isn't really hosting the shower, she's letting us use her home. The main reason for that is the mother is in a wheel chair & we were trying to figure out a "wheel chair friendly" place, which her house is. Mine is not, & the mom-to-be's house isn't either. But this woman is very, very picky that someone is going to mess up her house, it needs to be spotless. (I know, anal). Apparently she use to vacuum a room of her house a certain way & no one was allowed in it and based on the carpet pattern she could tell if someone had been in there. I can't wait for this to be over!! JLNATC: I already ran the menu past the mom-to-be, she was fine with it (she loves my spinach dip which has mayo, water chestnuts & sour cream in it & she can't stand those but loves my dip, she loves stuffed mushrooms & spanakopita). She wanted me to just buy the big platters at the store but when you figure out the cost it's about the same. I didn't want it to be the same old stuffGBCOPY: Sure you can come! 12 to 3 next Saturday! And bring your appetite!!! more
