Open Question: Vacation This Upcoming Summer...Need Advice!?

This upcoming summer my best friend and her boyfriend are going to florida and she asked me and my boyfriend if we'd like to come with them. I'm 19, my boyfriend is 19, my best friend is 19, and her boyfriend is 21. Her parents are going as well. the only thing i have to pay for is my plane ticket and i'm getting a job when i'm done with my semester at college which is at the end of april. Well my boyfriend's parents are fine with him going and he's going to pay for his ticket. I want to go and I'm going to pay for my own ticket but I'm not sure if my parents are going to allow me to go. How can I address this situation to them nicely and not get in an argument? I want them to let me go but then again I'm allowed to go if I want to right? I'm just not sure on what to do.. more

It was summer vacation and my dad gave the news again that we where going to move and I felt sad again because we had to move every year scene I was 7 years old. Then I went up to my room and packed up all the things I needed. And then the next day we left to Tallahassee, Florida and then I got excited but then when we got to our new home my smile swept off my face as I stared at my new house. Then we went inside and went to my new room and unpacked. I looked out my bed room window and saw a house, it looked liked a hundred year old house. Then I went down stairs. Before I knew it was summer vacation was over and had to go back to school. My dad drove me to school and hen when I got to my new school I started to talk to myself saying be calm act like you always did when you went to a new school. When I got inside I went to my class and started first period then. At lunch I was sitting with my new friends and we talked about my moving to many different places and how hard it is to be me. When I went home my friends asked if we can stay at my house for a while, I asked my mom and she said yes. We were out side playing truth or dare. Sally Dared me to go to the house next to my house and to stay in there for 5 mins or longer. They pushed me into the house and I looked around and saw a doll, I took the doll. When I was half way out my friends scared me. Then we went in my house and they told me the house I went in was cursed and that anyone that went in it will get cursed for life and I said your just saying that to scare me. But then they told me about the boy that went in and when he went out and crossed the street to go to his house a car ran him over, people thought it was because the house cursed him. Then I said do u have proof that happened then she pulled out a news paper from her backpack and she gave it to me and told me to read the first part. Then I gave it back and said you weren't kidding about that story. Then they left and then Sally went back in and said you might want to return that doll to that house everyone says it’s cursed, ok Bye. I picked up the doll and said to my self return it it’s the right thing to do. Then I got up to return the doll but my mom stopped me because I needed to go to bed. I went up stairs to my room and threw the doll out the window and went to sleep. When I got up I saw that doll on my computer desk. T took the doll and threw it out the window again. When I got down stairs my little sister was holding it. I was about to scream but I held it in. I went to the table and watched my little sister and after I was done eating I went to school. more

Voting Question: Am I wrong or is my mother wrong?

I'm 16 years old and live in Ohio, along with my five best friends. We've all been friends forever and all of our parents know each other and all of us. We're all really good kids: we get great grades, we don't drink, smoke, or do anything bad. We were all talking and we said we want to go on a vacation together, just us six. We decided we want to go to Fort Lauderdale, Florida this summer. We want to earn the money to go ourselves, so our parents don't have to pay for any part of it. We'd fly there, get a taxi to our hotel, get a nice suite that we could all stay in (or two separate rooms if needed) stay for 5-7 days, get a taxi to the airport, and fly back home. My mom said absolutely not and if we want to go then we can wait until it's the summer after our senior year and a parent would have to go with us. She said that we aren't old enough to travel by ourselves. And maybe when we're seniors all the parents can go along too, but for now, no. She also said that most parents wouldn't let their kids do this. I say that who knows if I will still have the same friends? or, what if nobody wants to do it by then? and plus we'll probably be saving up more for college then, so we won't want to spend our money on that. and that would defeat the purpose of us going on our own and earning it all ourselves. Plus, once one parent wants to go, the whole family wants to go. when one family goes, all want to go and then its just to much and the whole idea is shot. Give your honest opinion. Thanks. more

My moms good friend has always been their for me and I want to do something nice for them. The mom was raped, but had a lovely child who is now 12 and she adopted another who is now 6. Her mother helps her take care of the kids and she lives with her mom. They are struggling to make it by and they need a vacation. I want to bring them to Disney World as a Christmas present. I want to give them a 5 night stay at Disney's Fort Wilderness Cabins and I want to give them tickets so they can go to all 4 theme parks for 4 days. We are Florida residents so we get a discount but I don't know how much. How much would it cost me to bring all 4 of them to Disney in Spring or Summer 2011? The age of the kids are 12 and 6. Resolved Question: Where and when should my boyfriend and I go on our first vacation together?

I've been with my boyfriend for almost 4 years now, and we want to finally go on a vacation somewhere. I'll be 20 in October, he'll be 21 in December. I can't decide if we should go somewhere over the summer (probably late July early August) or if we should wait until winter break (mid December to mid January) to go somewhere. Also, I can't decide where to go! I think he really wants to go to like a national park or something historic, and I'm fine with pretty much anything. I DO think a beach vacation would be easier and cheaper, but I'm not sure how fond he would be of that. Although, with the right destination, for the right price, he can probably be convinced! I've been to Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, Missouri, Iowa, and Florida, (he's been to all, plus Nebraska) and we'd really like to visit a place we've never been to. We'd like it to be relatively cost effective, too. No more than 700 a person (flight and hotel) in the summer, and no more than 800 a person (flight and hotel) in the winter. Cheaper than that would obvisouly be GREAT!!! We have also entertained the idea of DRIVING somewhere, but we only have like 4 or 5 days to vacation, so that probably wouldn't be wise. Voting Question: Need help talking to my parents about moving out of state.?

I must be pretty desperate to be posting here.. Basically, I have relatives (great uncles/aunts, second cousins, etc) who live in Florida. I am very close with some of them. We go on vacation with my second cousins every year for a few weeks, and often visit each other. I am in love with the city and area they live in and know it well.. We're about seven hours away. I live in Alabama. I'm only 15, and I am very unhappy with where I live and my current living situation. I've realized that the vacation we take with these relatives is always one of the highlights of my year, and right now that's especially true because I'm realizing: My life, besides that, is miserable. At school, my only friends might as well be my enemies (mostly), the teachers want you to fail, and the other kids are stupid. As far as family, it's mostly empty immediate family gatherings with family in THIS state, and I don't think the immediate family is the best company. ..I've been feeling like this for about a year now and it's a really miserable feeling... And I still don't know exactly what I need to do / why exactly I'm feeling this way. It's at the point where several times, I've actually broken down in tears.. I don't know what to do. This summer, I'll be going on vacation again with the family and will also spend a week or so down there with them, followed by them spending a week here. I can't even work up the courage to tell my parents how bad my life is and how strongly I feel about wanting to move, or even that I want to move.. I need advice. I realize money doesn't grow on trees. We've got money, but I can see why moving would be a problem. more

All of the hotels/condos/etc seem to have sub-standard decor. The rooms all look like they came out of the 80's. We really want to stay in Siesta Key. When I recall some of the best times in my life, I often think about a little trip I took back in the summer of '04. If made into a movie, this story could be considered a drama, comedy, or even a romance tale, but most would consider it all three rolled into one. It came about suddenly and unexpectedly. My friend of many years, Bert, and his mother decided to join several of their friends at the last minute on a trip to their favorite vacation spot, Destin, Florida. I was then invited along by Bert as we did most everything together. Besides the planning that comes along with most vacations, it started out very typical. We loaded up the car on a Friday afternoon, and planned to leave the next morning, however, at 3 AM we all three, (Bert, myself, and Bert's mom), found ourselves wide awake and, figuring we wouldn't get much sleep anyway, decided to depart for Florida right then and there. After a quick stop at Hardee's to fulfill our late night munchies, we were on our way. To take up the time we decided to watch some movies on a portable DVD player we had brought along, which in theory was a good idea, but not in the backseat with Bert. He was quickly asleep and had taken up most of the room. I tried to keep my own space, but within 30 minutes he had sprawled out all over the backseat, including on top of me, and I couldn't stand it. I decided to move up to the front seat with Bert's mom, which wasn't so bad, except for the fact that for the next eight hours, of which about 3 of them I had the pleasure of sleeping, she forced me to listen to some of the worst music I have ever experienced in my entire life. I'm still not quite sure who it was singing, but a female country singer giving her rendition of famous Elvis songs has never sounded so bad. At about noon my ears were finally granted some relief when Bert awoke and commanded his mom to turn on some new music and stop torturing me. The next few hours were not so bad. I had good music, someone to talk to, and some nice ocean views. Even with all this, the time couldn't come soon enough for us to get out of the car and get our vacation started. Right around 3PM we finally rolled into the parking lot of our motel, The Ocean Moon Inn. I couldn't wait to get unpacked, get poolside, and get some tropical drinks in my hand...sure, I got all that, but I also got something I didn't bargain for. As I stepped out of the car the first thing I had to do was stretch, as it had been a very long and cramped ride. As I was doing so I gazed up to take in what would be my home for the next week, and as I swung my view from left to right, there she was, sitting with a group of friends on the staircase leading up to the second floor. We made eye contact for what seemed to be forever, and then she glanced away. My heart thumped, I felt a sudden rush of adrenaline, and then I quickly grabbed my bags and made my way down a hallway and out of sight to think about what had just happened. I wasn't sure if Bert had seen her or not, I was sure he noticed the loud group of mostly boys surrounding one or two girls, but I wasn't sure if he had really noticed the one that I had, or the way that she looked at me. The motel was a sort of "L" shape. It had two stories, and was quite small with only about 30 rooms. They all opened up to the pool which was in the center of the "L". It was an outdoor motel with no lobby, no indoor hallways, no convention rooms, as in you were either inside a bedroom, or you were outdoors. Bert followed me as we quickly made our way to room 205. We were familiar with its location as we had both stayed in it only a year before, along with Bert having stayed in it with his family for nearly the past 5 years. We opened the door and a cool breeze rushed us from inside the room. Bert unknowingly plopped down onto one of the beds, and rolled over as if to go to sleep. I stood there for a few moments and then blurted out, "Did you see that girl?" "What girl," said Bert, his voice muffled by the pillow his face was planted in. "The one at the top of the steps!" Bert rolled over, "Which one at the top of the steps...the dark haired one?" I nodded my head. "Yeah, what about her?" said Bert.” Did you think she was hot?" I didn't reply. I just stood there with a "DUH" look on my face. A few more seconds passed and finally Burt assured me, "She wasn't that great." Dismissing the idea entirely and rolling back over. For the next hour or two we relaxed, watched MTV, and ate Cheetos...correction, Bert relaxed, watched MTV, I also ate the Cheetos (and some Ho-Ho's), but I couldn't do anything but think about those few seconds that I made eye contact with the girl on the stairs and the feeling that she gave me, even though I didn't even know her. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it, as Bert obviously didn't feel the same way as I did, but I couldn't get her out of my head. I wond more

Hi there, I’m an 18 year old Canadian who frequently travels to the United States to visit my aunt and uncle who live there. Through high school, I would only visit for a week or two at a time every few months. After High school I planned on taking a year off to travel, so, after graduating, I received the graduation present to go to the States to visit with my family, and do some traveling while I was there (Florida, Grand Canyon, etc.) I ended up staying 5 months in the US. After coming back home to Canada, about a week later my Uncle called me up to explain that he was going to California and asked if I wanted to go. Of course I said yes. We booked the tickets for the following weekend, and I packed. When I got to the airport, everything seemed fine until I got to Customs. Usually they would just ask me who I’m staying with, and let me through. This time, they pulled me aside into an interrogation room! Needless to say I was terrified and confused as to why the sudden change, but they explained to me that I had just gone to the states for 5 months, came back for two weeks, and then was planning another month long trip there. The officer asked if I had a job, bills, etc. under my name in Canada, and I had been gone for 5 months so I hadn’t had any recent documents. I was told by others that he was trying to make sure I wasn’t a 'Defacto US Citizen'. They asked many questions, including what my aunt and uncle did as a profession, how much money I had on me, and they even said to me 'what is your boyfriends name down there?' ... When I don’t even have a boyfriend down there? The man had asked for my Itinerary, but I told him I hadn’t printed it out, because with all my trips down there I never printed it out, and it hadn’t been a problem. He then assumed that I only had a 1-WAY Ticket to the US, and he assumed I didn’t plan on coming back. I don't see why he couldn’t have just went on his computer and checked if I had one or not (don’t they have access to this information?) After waiting another 30 minutes while he got someone to check for him, he let me through, but he stapled this small white paper to one of my Passport pages that said I had to be back in Canada by the specified date (which was the date that was on my Itinerary), or else there would be a warrant for my arrest! I realize he was only taking precautions, and doing his job. So finally, my question is, when can I return to the USA to see my family again? I do have a job now, and I have bills under my name. I returned home at the beginning of February, and I wanted to go down in June and spend the summer there (until mid August), so I can have a small vacation before I start College in September. I will have been home for 3 months, working full-time. Will they let me back in? Should I bring evidence that I plan to return home, just incase? (Such as my College acceptance letter, to prove ill be home by September? My Bills, paystubs, etc?) I'll be sure to bring my itinerary. Any help or personal experiences will be helpful. The last thing I want to be is banned from the US and not be able to see my family at all! more

I am planning a trip to Disney World in Florida for my family - me, wife & 2 kids, ages 4 & 5. We are pretty flexible with the days we would take, but hopefully some time before summer. We would like to get a flight + hotel + park(s) in the $2000-$2500 range, for a time range of 3-4 days up to a week. Should we book with the Disney site, Priceline, Hotwire, Travelocity, etc. - which one? Should we plan on getting a rental car, or are most things within walking distance or shuttled? Me and my friend are planning a 10 day trip to Florida for this summer. We want to do the whole Disney/Universal thing. Anyway I have a few questions that I would rather have answered by real people, and not internet sites. 1) My friend and I are 20 and 19 years old, and I know legal drinking age is 21, but what is legal age to book a hotel room? We probably want to stay like 6 days on Disney property and the remaining 3 night somewhere in Orlando near Universal since we cant rent a car. 2) What are the cheapest times to fly to Orlando, and when do you reccommend to go? 3) Please if you have any other good travel tips, or ways to save money I would love to know. So for this summer, I have been considering traveling by myself to a foreign country and experience a different culture for a week or two. I'm an 18 year old male living in Florida, U.S, and I just want to go on adventures and feel free from any obligations. I also want a place I can learn from others and grow ( eg: a Buddhist temple, Egyptian pyramids, holy sites, pilgrimages, etc...) However I can't decide which place to go. I'm pretty open minded to anything from busy cities to sandy deserts. Have you been to any interesting places you would recommend? I there a place you have heard of? in the summer, i usually get a bit of a tan, then some years i'm lucky enough to go on a vacation to somewhere hot for spring break (my grandparents live in florida). there, i'll be able to tan a tiny bit more. then that lasts me till the summer. this year however, we had the worst summer ever. it was barley ever sunny. so lets just say im lookin pretty pale right now. i will also not be going to florida this year... i'd be ok with this, but its gotten that im SO pale that none of my makeup matches my skin anymore. my face is orange, and my neck is pale! gross... i have bad acne. i can't buy cheap makeup or it makes me break out even more the normal. so since i already have all the makeup i need, just for a more tanned person, i thought it would be less expensive if i just went tanning. . my mom was not down.... at first, she told me that she would pay for the makeup if i didn't go tanning. that was cool, until it was time to pay and she decided that it wasn't a good idea anymore. so now im stuck. i either have to fork over 70$ dollars for makeup (which i don't have...), or 20$ tanning AND THAT ALL. i DONT want to be orange. my plan was to use all my tanning minutes in a span of a few weeks, then completely stop tanning until summer. my mom doesn't like that either.... how can i convince her to let me go tanning? or to pay for my makeup? its not like she can't afford it. she pays quite a bit more on her beauty products for herself... her arguments are: - cancer ( i'd be going for the same amount of time as i would tan if we went to florida, and she has no problem with it there) - funguses (i would obviously go somewhere that is clean and that friends of mine have already gone). - creeps watch you tan (she heard ONE story about that happening in the bad part of our city, and now shes convinced that they are everywhere). help? and sorry this is so long...i like to talk.... :)i do go to a dermatologist. have been since i was 12. i still have pretty bad acne though : im taking an oral acne pill and used to use a night cream on my face, but it irritated it to much so i stopped.i tried tanning lotion and it made me orange :S so there was 15$ out the window... more

I'm 16 and this summer we're gonna just stay with my aunt in Ft. Lauderdale who lives 10 minutes away from the beach. We've only been down there a handful of times when we were a bit younger due to our other choices in vacations. Since I will have my permit by then, my mom told me I could drive us up to to Disney's Blizzard Beach and Typoon Lagoon, and out to key west. Hi im 15 and I am finishing P90x this week and I have gotten great results, i have followed the diet plan to the "T" and for the past 3 months I have not had a cheat day. My major goal is a 6 pack before summer, so far you can see the lines but I have a little fat over it. 3 days after my last day of p90x I am going on a 2 week vacation to Florida. I am going to be back home in exactly 2 weeks after I finish p90x. And as soon as I get home I plan on starting insanity and following the diet to a "T". My question is if I eat un healthy and pretty much eat whatever I want without following portions, eat junk food and all that bad stuff like doughnuts and cookies for 2 weeks will I lose everything ive worked so hard for. I am still going to do P90x everyday of the vacation with extra cardio to stay in shape. I’m also going to drink a gallon of water everyday. So do you guys think I will lose my results and gain fat back even if I work out? It’s my dads birthday so that's why were going on vacation. I’m going to keep track of my weight and if I've gained any inches and make sure i get enough protien. I really down want to lose my results but I thought a two week break is alright because I am starting insanity right when I get home and that is a crazy fat burner. I'm planning a summer family vacation to Florida (from the UK) and we're thinking of spending some time in the Tampa area. There are literally thousands of vacation rentals in the region - ranging from condos in gated developments to large villas - and I haven't the first clue as to what area(s) are going to be best for us. We have a young family (kids of seven and ten) so the beaches around Clearwater are tempting - but is that the best area in which to stay? We'll have a car so it's not going to be particularly important for the big attractions to be right on the doorstep - but we would probably want to have basic amenities (shops, restaurants etc) nearby, so we're not looking for somewhere that's tucked away in a backwater. Any ideas as to some reasonably high-quality neighborhoods that we should be focusing our research on? I've heard of places like Indian Shores, Indian Rocks, St Petersburg, Madeira Beach - but I have no idea which ones are nice and which are not so good! Thanks!
