Resolved Question: Looking for a place to stay in VA Beach and/or Ocean City Maryland?
Soooo, I might go on vacation this summer for the first time in....a few years lol. (with my husband, baby and gramma) And I'm wondering, what's your favorite place to stay in Ocean City Maryland or Virginia Beach? ((oceanview/oceanfront locations only please)) What were your experiences with housekeeping/appliances/location? Was it noisy at night? **loud parties/crying kids etc.** We'd like experiences with hotels, motels and condos. How much it cost for a week or thereabouts would be nice as well. :)I'm also looking for the name of a restaurant in ocean city....i ***think*** it might be called Macky's but I'm not sure it had a large wooden mermaid above the host stand. It was bayside and you could eat out on the beach...Awesome :) Thanks muchly dr_nigel :D moreResolved Question: Would it be worth it to move my temporary & henna tattoo business to Ocean City Maryland?
My partner & I are both artists specializing in temporary & henna tattoos. We are both natives to Pittsburgh, PA (which is where we are right now). We lived in Fort Myers Beach, Florida for about a year & a half, where we found a lot of work. We were thinking of trying our hand in the Ocean City, Maryland area next Summer. I used to vacation there, & I loved it. However, I haven't been there in years & was wandering if that kind of business would do well there. I would either need to work out of a store (rent the space off of them or share the profit), or work out of my home. Any input would be much appreciated. moreVoting Question: How can I see my boyfriend again?
He lives in Maryland and I live in Texas. I used to live in Maryland (that's how I met him) and I have tons of friends and family there, but my family is really low on money right now, we just can't afford to fly there. I'm thinking of asking them if we can drive to Maryland for summer vacation, but I don't know if that would be much cheaper. If I don't figure out something, I'm not going to see him again for another year if I'm lucky, another 4 years if we go to the same college, and if we don't, there's no telling how long it'll be. Please help me!!! :(I'm 15, and we've already been dating on and off for 2 years so I don't see why we wouldn't be dating that long, and he can't visit me because he's family is in even more financial issues than mine is moreResolved Question: What are my legal options against a police officer who arrested my son and lied in court?
I will try to be brief: While my son and I were visiting his high school this summer for a meeting with the football coach and guidance office, a police detective approached us. The detective asked if I could bring my son to police headquarters to discuss an incident that occurred on July 4th. We immediately went to police headquarters and talked to the detective outside, He asked if he could speak with my son alone, for which I objected. He then stated that my son was NOT under suspicion for ANY crimes, and was simply seeking information about a July 4th incident. My son indicated that he didn't know what occurred on July 4th and couldn't offer any information. The detective was insistent about speaking with my son alone. I objected, but my 17 yr old son offered to speak to the detective alone, since he didn't have anything to hide. Well, what resulted from this was my son being photographed and fingerprinted against his will. My son told me what happened, and I immediately requested answers from the detective. Two days later, the detective called my home and requested that my son return to the police department for more questions. When I told him I would not bring him back, on the advice of our attorney, the detective informed me that my son was going to be arrested for a crime that occurred on July 20th. The evidence used to make the arrest was the photograph the detective took of my son two days prior. Please note, my son had a clear record prior to this arrest. My son had to endure weeks in a juvenile detention center before we could go to trial. Unknown to the detective, the following facts existed: 1) My family returned home from a two week vacation on July 19, and I was able to account for my son's movements for the entire day on July 20. 2) The police report and the victim's statement indicated that the person who committed the crime has a close cut hair style. On July 20th my son had long twisted hair about 8 inches long. I provided video and photographs from a wedding my family attended on July 18 some 500 miles away. My son cut his hair five days prior to meeting the detective because he was getting ready for football season. 3) During the time of the incident he was charged with, he was on his Facebook account chatting with numerous friends. This information was provided at trial by certified records from Facebook. To sum this up, my son's trial showed how the detective lied on numerous occasions. His testimony at trial didn't match his written statement or the testimony of the victim. The victim and the detective called each other liars during the trial. Thankfully, the trial judge found the detective's actions were deceitful and not creditable, and my son was found not involved in the crime. My wife and I want to seek legal action against the detective, as my son lost over four weeks of school as a result of being in a juvenile detention center; missed out on his football season (my son is among the Top 5 sprinters in the state of Maryland); and was a mental and financial drain for us. Can we do anything? Thank youFor the person who insist the information I provided is false, my son's case number is JA-09-1414 in the state of Maryland. Everything I stated in my question can be substantiated. I posted my question in the hopes that I can obtain useful information as to my next course of action. To answer the question as to why I went to the police station and let the detective speak to my son: Because I feared the police/detective would have simply picked my son up at some later point and taken him to the police station and called me after the fact. I felt I was cooperating fully, and since my son assured me he was not involved in anythig, we had nothing to worry about.Order of Events: 8/10/09 - Date when my son & I went to high school, was approached by the detective, and when my son spoke with the detective. Detective was waiting at the school. Per his testimony at trial, he contacted the school ahead of time and the school informed him that my son and I were going to be there. 8/12/09 - Date my son was arrested. 8/13/09 - My son was detained and sent to juvenile detention center to await merit hearing (trial). 9/8/09 - Original date of trial. Trial was postponed until October 13 to allow our attorney to obtain records from Facebook. 9/1509 - My son was released from juvenile detention center under Electronic Monitoring. Merits Hearing (Trial) is again postponed until 11/5/09 to allow Facebook time to produce Certified Records of my son's account. 11/509 - Merit Hearing (Trial). My son was found Not Involved (Not Guilty) of all counts. Judge also reprimanded detective for his conduct in handling this case.Other Dates: 7/4/09 - During the July 4th fireworks celebration in our town, a young man was robbed of his skateboard. My son was at the celebration with his girlfriend, and the person accused of the robbery was a former friend of my son. This was the reason the detective claimed why he wanted to talk to my son. 7/20/09 - A person was assualted and robbed of his cellphone by a group of young men in the same area as the skateboard incident. Based on the testimony of the detective, he believed my son was involved because of his past friendships. When my son spoke to the detective on 8/10/09, he was never asked about the incident on 7/20/09. His entire written statement was one paragraph that stated he had no knowledge of what happened on 7/4/09. The detective showed the victim a picture of my son on 8/11/09, and the victim indicated my son "could have been" one of the people who attacked him and stole his cell phone. This was the detective's basis for arresting my son.The importance of the hairstyle is that my son's hair was about 7-8 inches long, styled in a twist. The victim's police statement indicated the attacker had a short, close cut hairstyle. My son cut his hair on 8/5/09, 16 days after the incident, because he was getting ready for football season, and he couldn't afford paying $50 every three weeks to have his hair styled. The Facebook records were critical because it showed my son was home with me at the time, and was on his computer. Our attorney need to show it was impossible to be at the crime scene, which was three miles from my home, and on his computer chatting with friends. As for the detective lying: During the trial, detective indicated that he went to the victim's home to show him photos of possible suspects. However, the victim testified he went to the police station and looked at some photo books. On 8/11/09, the detective showed him a photo of my son and said "he believes we have the right guy". At that time he picked the photo of my son. All of this is on record and part of the trial testimony. Also, when I arrived at the police station with my son, I asked the detective if I need to have my attorney here, or if my son was under suspicion for anything. He said "no". But he testified that he informed me my son was a suspect. This was challenged during cross examination, and he eventually recanted some of his previous testimony, where he "assumed" I was informed of the information. moreResolved Question: How can I make a long distance relationship work?
I am 17 (18 in a month) and I started talking with a girl online like 6 months ago through a game (World of Warcraft). She game me her phone number like after a month of talking on the game and I called her every night for like another month but then her phone ran out of minutes. We shared pictures and stuff and we know what each other look like. We have been VERY open with each other and talked about basically everything she is the first girl I have ever actually gotten to know like this and I really like (she is my first relationship). She has had boyfriends and been active so she knows how to Gage her feelings and REALLY loves me and I love her. We know that we need to meet to really see if were meant to be together but I live in Oklahoma and she lives in Maryland, she is 15 and well I'm about to turn 18. Its not like I wana go up there just to have sex. I really have serious feelings for her and I just want to meet her to see if this is all actually real. I know college is important and stuff but I really want to try and meet her this summer. I told my mom and she said she thinks I should stay in Oklahoma for another year so I can get some college and let her hit 16. I don't know how I would be able to get up to her anyway I have no job but I do have a truck. She has told me she would leave with me if I came to get her but I know that couldn't work she needs to finish high school. I know this is a lot of blah but what would you do? Would you scrape what little money together you have and move up there and try to find a place to live, get a job, and work my way through college while she finishes high school? or should I just try and get my family to go on vacation up there and I spend some time with her while were in that area. We just need to meet each other to really see if all this is real because we know each other like in ways no one else does and we really do sincerely feel love. I just wana know what your opinion is I know I seem crazy and stuff but she is worth it to me. Thanks for your time and consideration.Ok I am also a Christian and she is an atheist and has told me she does not believe in God and doesn't plan on it, I asked her what she does believe in and where she thinks everything came from. She said she doesn't care but she really does love me and I love her. She has never been exposed to God and given the chance to learn about it so the possibility for her to actually bring God into her heart is there. Should I still do all this work to be there for her to just find out we can't stand on common ground? I love her and I want to offer her the chance because she deserves it. Any tips? moreResolved Question: Why does it seem like the Maryland court system sided with the irresponsible, selfish father?
After an on again off again 8 year relationship with my ex I finally got the courage to leave in Aug 2008. I have financially supported and taken care of our son with little or no help from the father (during the majority of the time we did not live together). On 7/16/09 I filed for physical custody and sole legal custody of our 8 year old son along with a request for child support. His father did not respond with an answer within 30 days because he said this was a relief to him because now all he had to do was pay child support. He doesn't want to watch him during off school times because he works nightshift and he doesn't want to pay daycare either. He takes him to school in the morning and picks him up after school (he has him about 1 1/2 n the am before school and maybe 20 mins after school) AGAIN because he doesn't want to pay for before or after school care. He does not help pay for school supplies, clothing, haircuts, medical bills, etc. He was to take him one week this summer and did not because he said it was unfair for me to ask him of this when he only gets 1 weeks vacation; therefore he couldn't go any place because he would have to take him. I filed the Notice of Default against him and had my hearing was held yesterday. I was awarded sole legal custody & primary physical custody. Because HE did not submit his financial information and I could not provide a pay stub of his, the back child support from 7/16 to current date was abolished and the Master of the Court referred me to the local child support office. My son's Father is currently in their database actively because he pays support for another son so the information that was needed was available to the Master. Now I have to refile which could take approx 3 months for a child support hearing and the lady advised me that even if it takes 6 months, the judge will not grant any back support due older than 60 days, 90 days at the latest. I feel as if I have been screwed and I am the one paying the price for his irresponsibility and non-compliance. Once again he gets off scott free and pays nothing for a child he is legally 1/2 financially responsible for. Do I even have a leg to stand on to fight this? I feel I should be owed back pay from the date I filed the papers on 7/16/09. I am perplexed on how they let a father who didn't give a crap to even file an answer with the court to walk around and not be held accountable for what he should owe to his son. Why is it my responsibility to provide what he was supposed too and even readily available to the court from Child Support Enforcement. moreResolved Question: ok... should i get back together with him?

So I had a class with a guy last year and we talked a lot. He somehow got my number (I think he asked his sister for it?) he would text me every once in a while, asking me about things ranging from the homework to what was going on in my life. When school ended, we talked a lot over the summer. We would text back and fourth for six hours, just talking about random things. Whenever the conversation would start to lose it's fuel he would say something to spark everything up again. He would always compliment me or say something cute along the lines of: 'Well, since you're beautiful, I really don't think you need to worry about guys not liking you' (things like that) I saw him at a party a few weeks after school ended and he just hung out with me alone for the last half of the night. We were sitting at a table drawing on paper plates (we both like to draw) and a few times I looked up at him and he was just staring at me with this goofy little smile. After that we didn't talk for a few weeks, then he randomly texted me one night and we talked for two days straight. After that he would send me things on Facebook and over text, just asking how I was and stuff. Then he dropped off of the face of the planet and I didn't hear from him for the better part of the summer. About three weeks before school started, I had my wisdom teeth out. Right after I had the surgery he asked me how my teeth (or lack there of) were. He checked in on me every day for about six days and we would talk for about two hours or so. I found out he was on vacation in Maryland so he was texting me later into the night where I live and the time difference is pretty huge. I told him that I should let him go because it was so late where he was and he told me he didn't care that it as late, he loved to talk to me. After that night, he stopped talking to me. The night before school started he sent me something on Facebook wishing me luck for the next school year. Then I saw him at school and he completely ignored me. He would stare at me and walk up to a group I was standing in and talk to my friends but wouldn’t even look at me. This struck me as strange because we had spoken so often before. He keeps talking to me online but he doesn't talk to me in person. It's so stupid and immature. I don't know what his deal is?Yeah, I'm sure that it's him online. It's on facebook. He added me just before the summer because we had a project to do together for our class. moreResolved Question: Resorts in ocean city maryland?

It's summer vacation and so far I'm kind of down. My BEST friends (I'm not exaggerating... we did everything together and I told them everything. I love them with all my heart) were all three sisters, and they moved to Maryland. Last summer was the best summer ever and we made memories that will last forever (sounds corny I know). They moved in the middle of March and I'm having an extremely hard time adjusting. This summer is so weird because I keep wanting to hang out with them then I remember that they're like 800 miles away from me. I hate knowing that there's gonna be so much extra time this summer to remind me that they're gone. I'm still doing stuff to occupy time so it doesn't bother me as much, like going to the gym 5 days a week, looking for a job, babysitting... but there's a space that I can't fill :'( please help me.it's not like i don't have any other friends. i have tons of other friends its just really different moreResolved Question: I'm working on a book and this...?
I'm working on a book, but I'm not sure if my writing style is entertaining. I try to write just as I would speak, grammar and punctuation included. I have no formal schooling as a writer, but I assume many good writers don't. I have ADHD and it's hard for me to keep a clear thought. I need some opinions on my writing. Here is a small (it may look big here) part of my book. The book is going to be a sort of autobiography, fact / fiction you decide, kinda book. I really need your opinions and tips. Thanks... ************************************************************************** I remember back in the day when I was outgoing, happy, and didn't care what people thought about me. I was once known as "The Big Kahuna" among my friends when I lived in Ocean City. It's amazing how things change as you get older. When I moved to Ocean City I was fresh out of the Navy. and although the Navy was nothing like I expected and did very little to help me grow up, I was about to do a lot of growing up in Ocean City. The first thing I did in Ocean City was get a room at The Englander. The Englander was a rooming house, an old home sectioned off into about 20 rooms with dimly lit hallways, slotted doors and community bathrooms. It wasn't much but it was a place to lay my head at night. It was March or April in 1986 when I moved to Ocean City and I had to go out and find a job. It didn't take long to find one since everyone was hiring because the summer season was quickly approaching and Ocean City was a seasonal town and a major vacation spot for people and families from Maryland, D.C., Virginia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. I probably put in about 4 job applications at various businesses before I made my way to a cafe' located in the basement of a hotel called The Castle in the Sand. I was greeted by Mike and Maryanne <last name omitted> the managers of the cafe' and I think they hired me on the spot as a line cook. My duties included cooking breakfast and lunch, waiting on tables and being a cashier at the counter. Mike and Maryanne were pretty cool people to work for, they never demanded too much except that you work hard and bring a happy face to work with you. Even after the workday was over they were always there for you, well at least for me they were. Mike and Maryanne kind of adopted me as the son they never had and I could always come to them with my troubles and they would never turn their backs to me. I guess you could say that they were the parents I never had. I mean, sure I had a mother and father and step father but Mike and Maryanne were different. Mike always had stories to fit any occasion about growing up as a surfer and although Maryanne didn't have as many stories to tell her animated expressions would tell stories of their own. And even after Mike offered advice to any problem I would come to him with and told a story to go along with it, the story and the advice always seemed to relieve and distract me from whatever it was that was troubling me to begin with. And after you got to know Mike a little more you realized that about 90% of his stories were full of crap, but it didn't matter because the way he told the stories was not only therapeutic to an extent but they were entertaining to say the least. I was happy to have met Mike and Maryanne and along with their daughter Courtney, they were my family in Ocean City and I honestly believe I am a better person today for having known them. Anyway, back at the cafe'... one morning while I was working as cashier at the counter one of the hotel maids came to get a cup of coffee. She came down and got coffee every morning that she worked. And something about her was drawing me to her. Maybe it was her purple hair, maybe it was her eyes, I'm not certain but whatever it was I was definitely drawn to this girl. It took me a while to get her name which was Laura and even longer to get up the nerve to ask her out on a date but eventually I did. But it didn't go quite as planned. I asked her out to dinner or lunch, I forget and she originally turned me down gently. That didn't stop me however because I continued to ask her out until she finally said 'yes'. See, I have never been known as a person that easily gives up and I have had a few girlfriends in my day and none have ever been this hard to get a date with so I wasn't going to start giving up now. It's a good thing I wasn't a quitter too, because Laura stood me up about 5 times before she finally showed up for our first date. Our first date wasn't anything special, I mean it wasn't fine wining and dining or anything, it was just a walk on the boardwalk, some cheap food and a trip to the amusement park on the pier where we didn't do much but get acquainted with each other outside of work and took a ride on the Ferris wheel. Many people warned me about Laura, even Mike and Maryanne didn't like her, but I was in love and I didn'Sammy and Chelsea P, I know punctuation is messed up. Chelsea P, You ask a good question about where am I going with this... I plan on writing a few books, each from a different part of my life. I am hoping to end them with or for people to get some sort of life lesson from them, and or to provide some insight into what life is like with ADHD, and not some medically technical mumbo-jumbo from a doctor, but from me, someone that has had to live with ADHD and it's consequences in life. I know everyone with ADHD does not have the exact same stories to tell, but hopefully mine will help people that don't have it to understand it better and it might help them understand if only a little bit, how and why people with ADHD think (or in most cases DON'T think). moreResolved Question: Record stores in New York City?
All right, bros, I'm admittedly a Maryland hipster, and I'm going to New York for vacation this summer. The hotel's in Time's Square, so I'm gonna have pretty much the best time ever. I just completed my first year of college, and summer vacation was right around the corner. I had no idea what activities to get involved in, but I didn’t want to spend my vacation going to the mall and lounging around the house as I have done the last few years. This summer was going to be different. I decided to enroll in a real estate licensing course which was taught at the Long and Foster Institute. I know it’s unusual for a college student to want to go to school during summer vacation, but becoming a real estate agent has been a goal of mine for quite some time. My parents introduced me to the business of real estate sales a few years prior and even allowed me to assist them in their business. Watching my parents' success in real estate sales motivated me to pursue a career in the industry and led me to believe that I too can be as successful as they are. I was already registered at the Long and Foster Institute and was ready to get started. I already anticipated that the class was going to be very difficult, so I requested my books in advanced to get a head start. Finally, the first day of class was here, but I had no idea what to expect. The thought of being the youngest student in a room full of forty year olds entered my mind. When I walked into the classroom, I discovered that assuming was never right. My imagination got the best of me because my classmates were nothing like I envisioned. In fact, my classmates were very diverse people, from different walks of life. Now that the nervous thoughts were at the back of my mind, it was time to down to business. My professor; Mrs. Billups was very strict. She was a successful realtor in the area and took everything about real estate very seriously. Class was held everyday from nine to five, and she made sure that we used every minute of that time. I had been attending class everyday for a month, but before I knew it, it was time to take the final exam. There were two final exams that I had to pass. The first was on Maryland real estate laws, and the second on national real estate laws. Before the test, the class was allowed to eat and review. I didn’t bring my books to class with me that day because I didn’t want to look at anything that would confuse me. While eating my lunch, I overhead study groups quizzing each other but I didn’t want to get involved in the discussion. Lunch was over and it was time to test. During the duration of the exams I had a little anxiety, but I remained calm under the pressure and finished with about five minutes to spare. Once everyone finished testing, Mrs. Billups randomly called everyone to see their results. I had no idea what to expect, but when I walked into the office, and saw the smile on her face I knew that I passed. I remember running out of her office so fast that I forgot my certificate and had to come back for it. At that moment, I was so proud of myself, and couldn’t wait to tell my parents the great news because I knew they were going to be as excited as I was. I was finally done at the Long and Foster Institute, but there were two more exams that I needed to pass. These exams were administered by PSI, and determined if I was going to get licensed. With the class out of the way, I had more time to focus on passing the next exams. They were a lot difficult and required a lot of work to prepare for. After weeks of studying, I was registered to test at the testing center. I walked into the testing center and got ready to get started. My strategy was to answer the easy questions first and save the difficult ones for last. This was the strategy that I used on the previous exam that I passed. I was done, but sat at the computer for a couple minutes, took a breath and clicked submit. I walked out of the room to get my results, only to discover that I failed. For the rest of the day I walked around as if all my dreams of becoming a real estate agent have been shattered. I did fail the exam that time, but my journey of becoming a successful real estate agent was far from over. I knew that I had to give it my all the second time around. From that moment on, I swore to study harder than before and not stop until my real estate license was in my hand. In order to study better, I needed to clear my schedule. I sat out the next semester of school and cut my hours back at work. The day of the exam, I walked into the testing center with more confidence and was very eager to start. I completed the exam in less than two hours, and rushed to get my results. At first, I though something was wrong because the computer that had my results crashed. Eventually, the computer came back on and my results printed out. I couldn’t wait to see if I passed, and sure enough I did. At the end of the day, I can truly say that this was my favorite summer vacation to this day. I didn’t engage in the typical activities that my peers did, but I still had a lot of fun. It was gratifying to accomplish a goal that many people thought w moreResolved Question: Is this a good essay?
My summer vacation of 2007 was a unique and rewarding experience. Instead of wasting time lounging at home or going to the mall, I decided to enroll in Long and Foster’s real estate licensing course. I know it’s unusual for a college student to go to school during summer break, but becoming a real estate agent was a goal of mine for quite some time, and what better time to pursue my goal. Summer vacation allowed me enough time to study without the distractions of other classes. My parents introduced me to the business of real estate sales a few years prior, but it wasn’t until I got older that I became a lot more interested. Watching their success led me to believe that I too can be as successful as they are. I was so excited about beginning my journey into the business of real estate sales, that I got my books weeks before class started and studied early. I was very nervous about starting class because I had no idea what to expect. The thought of being the youngest student in a class of forty year old professionals was not thrilling, and the fact that I was eighteen years old with the face of a thirteen year old wasn’t helping. Once again, my imagination got the best of me because my classmates were nothing like I envisioned. In actuality, my classmates were very diverse people of all ages and different education backgrounds. The course that I enrolled very fast paced, which made it more difficult. Class was held everyday from nine to five for a month, and we were assigned tons of homework and quizzes. Just as I hoped, class quickly came to a close, and before I knew it, it was time to take the final exam. There were two final exams that I had to pass. The first was on Maryland real estate laws, and the second on national real estate laws. Before testing, the professor allowed the class time to review and eat lunch. During my break I was smart not to think about the test because I didn’t want to confuse myself. I overheard everyone else quizzing each other, but I kept to myself. After lunch I was ready to get the exams over with. While testing, I had some anxiety at first, but I stayed focus and finished with about five minutes to spare. Once everyone finished testing, we were randomly called in our instructor’s office to see our results. I had no idea what to expect, but when I walked into the office, and saw the smile on the professor’s face I knew that I passed. I remember running out of her office so fast that I forgot my certificate and had to come back for it. I was glad to have passed because all my hard work paid off, but most importantly I never had to take the class again. When I left the class I couldn’t wait to tell my family the great news because I knew how proud they were going to be but most importantly, how proud I was of myself. The real estate class was finally behind me, and I had more time to focus on the next set of exams that I needed to pass. The exams were administered by PSI and were twice as difficult Long and Foster’s exams. One thing I didn’t want to do was rush into taking the exams, so I decided to took a few more weeks to study. On testing day I woke early and arrived at the testing center early. I felt confident in passing because I studied persistently for weeks. Once again I was the youngest person in the room, and no one believed I was actually about to become a real estate agent. Now that everyone calmed down about how young I looked, I sat at the computer to test. My strategy was to answer the easy questions first and save the difficult ones for last. This was the strategy that I used on the previous exam that I passed. I was done, but sat at the computer for a couple minutes, took a breath and clicked submit. First, I had to do was to organize my schedule in order to have more time to study. I sat out one semester of school and even cut my hours back at work. Secondly, I had to establish an effective study plan, which included enhanced flashcards and self made quizzes. As quickly as I began studying, the exam came quicker. I walked in the testing center with confidence, and completed the exam in less than two hours. When I exited the exam room I sat and waited for my results. In the beginning I though something was wrong because the computer with the results crashed. Eventually, the computer came back on and my results printed out. Basically, I feel like I'm having trouble relating to this issue in an adult manner, and I'm trying to understand it all. I'm 17, and I'm trying to figure out if I can't seem to let this go simply because I really don't want to, or because I feel like there's something missing that would actually make a difference. So here's the basic deal: I live in CT, my girlfriend lives in Maryland (now), and we're both 17 -Short Version: My Mom doesn't want to let me go to Maryland to visit my girlfriend because I would have to stay with her family, mainly because she doesn't feel she can trust her parents and because "every maternal instinct" she has is "screaming 'NO'". She is afraid that there is no "out" when I'm down there, and I can't escape or get help if i'm placed in a compromising situation. -Long Version: I met this girl 14 months ago. At the time, I was really struggling with depression. It was the end of September, and the last school year was probably the worst I've ever had. Over the course of that school year, I overcame so much of my depression. I was laughing and talking and finally cut my hair for real in the Spring. This girl, Nikki, basically helped me turn my life around, help me become who I used to be. And, of course, we ended up dating and we fell in love. (As a side note, I know there are cynics that don't believe in true love as a teenager, but i feel that for my maturity level, this is true love. If it is right, the love will mature as we do into "real" love) Here comes the bad news, she moved the end of the next summer to Maryland. We decided to continue our relationship because we loved each other. I can honestly say that I have no regrets about that. However, she has visited CT 6 times since September. She has come on various weekends, either with her family or by herself on the train. We have always made the most of our time together, but I have only been able to help her pay to come up here, not to actually go down there to visit. Her parents did invite me to stay over Christmas vacation. I guess the real issue here is whether I'm justified in feeling like I should be able to convince me mom that she shouldn't have to worry. I understand everything she's saying, but i feel like there's something more to it that she doesn't see. So, she doesn't entirely trust her parents. They drink on occasion, and she is worried that they could potentially get drunk at a party and insist on driving us home. Valid concern. But because I know them better than my mom, I understand that they don't do that, that they are very responsible about designated drivers and the like. I just don't know if I can like...show her that. I feel like I should be able to show her she can trust them, but I don't want to act as a rash teenager. I'm trying to be a mature adult, and I'm hoping someone can lend me some outside-view advice. I could ramble on a lot about this, but if anyone could give there two cents, it would be much appreciated. moreResolved Question: Problem with visiting girlfriend...Am I being too much of a Teenager?

it's a vacation place for all ages! LOL moreResolved Question: What am I supposed to do?
Okay, so I fell in love with this one girl, but I didn't think she liked me back. So I kept quiet for a while, but one day in January her cousin tells me that she likes me. I doubted this, because I saw her flirting with a boy at school. But I thought I'd try anyway, but kept my distance for the time being because I got so nervous when I saw her that it was hard to talk to her. Eventually she found out that her cousin told me, and thought that the reason I kept my distance was because I hated her (which I didn't). But the day I figure out what I'm gonna say, the guy who was flirting with her before asks her out: she says yes. Shocked and shaken, I fell from my fortress. She loved him more than she ever liked me, although we were best friends. Every day she was always next to him, being held in his arms and showered in kisses. And she always seemed to do it whenever I was near. Every Thursday we would all get together for our club, but since they started going out they just found a dark corner during the movies we'd watch and make out. She was acting like she was no longer interested in me, but we still talked over the phone. It was painful to see them fondling each other, especially with her denying my witnessing. It was like she was trying to keep a secret from me. And I grew tired of it. I tore myself up inside, trying to tell myself that she was happy, and I should therefore be happy. But as the days went by we grew apart, and whenever she promised to stay with me on Thursdays she would always go with him. Heartbroken, I told her about how sad and angry I was. She was not happy, and cried. I eventually apologized for my sudden outburst. So I stood one more week before her boyfriend graduated. With this came their breakup. Inside I was still uneasy, because I knew that she was just going to crawl back to him. So the last day of school, a Thursday, she FINALLY hangs out with me. And we have fun at the end-of-the-year party. Over the summer I went to Illinois for vacation. I would call her every night I could and talk to her, hoping to establish more than just 'friendship'. We got really close, but not close enough I guess. While I was gone, she told me that she met some weird guy on Face Book. We joked around about how he was probably some kinda weird pedophile or something. But eventually, they started to talk more. She gave him her phone number. Instead of the pulse of a phone ring I would more often hear a busy tone. I got excessively jealous. She convinced me that she was just his 'friend' and nothing more. But upon visiting her face book, I saw that she had said she'd "Made a new best friend". Well, I was pretty peeved. In fact, it drove me insane. I sent him a message about it, telling him how much it hurt me, but as Karma would have it all I got back was "**** you and deal with it", only in a more polite manner. She didn't care about the things he said, and I knew that she was just going to end up falling for him in the end. I was very scared and very sad because I didn't want to lose someone a second time, while not even being together in the first place. Eventually she told me that she liked him, and my heart shattered into a million pieces, where she then proceeded to super glue them to the floor. He eventually asked her out, and she immediately said yes. My life was over. I hated myself so much. And I couldn't even do anything because I was in Illinois. And he was in Baltimore, and to this very day has not met her in person once. I was planning on asking her out right when I got home, but at this point it was too late. Once again my diffidence had led to depression. He called her more and more, and I called less and less, and eventually led to almost total silence of both of us. I had just received the 'wonderful' information that I was ACTUALLY going to move to Illinois. I didn't want to go, but I got a week's reprieve to Maryland a week before school started. All I ever heard was how much she loved Ollie and how happy she was and how excited she was, and I guess for that I was happy for her. Sure, I was jealous, but I guess if I failed a second time then I was obviously worthless. But the one thing that really got on my nerves was that she kept talking about how her ex was coming back from the military, and how excited she was to see him, even though she was dating another guy (whom, again, she has never met to this day). She always tells me how excited she is to see him when he comes in December, and I'm just getting sick of it. She's dating one guy, likes another, and knows that I had feelings for her because she too once had feelings for me. But at this point I don't really know what to do, because all I hear is her talking about her ex and how he's coming back, and how her current boyfriend 'might' be coming on a certain day. I'm sick of listening to it, but I still love her. What should I do? moreResolved Question: are you going to vacation in ocean city, maryland next summer 2009?

My ex-wife and I got divorced 4 yrs ago. In the divorce decree I was not ordered to pay child support.
