this guy in my school... he's very popular with the ladies and a big showoff and a bit of a player... has had a lot of girlfriends and always dumps them and moves onto the next one.. I never took much notice til he started showing an interest in me and flirting with me a lot, and I think he tried to ask me out one time but I didn't quite pick up on it and left him hanging probably feeling rejected, so a few days later I made up for it by asking him out by email just to go out 'some time' and gave my number. he said yeah that would be cool and that was that, neither of us ever brought it up again.... though he did use my number to text me sometimes just to chat smalltalk and in school just talked to me as normal. at the end of the school year I sent another message to him 'when are we gonna go out?' and he said he had no idea because he had been so busy studying for tests... I thought after he came back from his vacation he would contact me but he didnt and I made the first move again trying to make conversation on facebook chat but he didnt ask me out so I left it like that. saw him in this thing we both go to twice after that and the first time he seemed uncomfortable to be around me and afraid to talk to me. then the following week it was fine because I was more over him and we interacted as normal and it was ok. one month later without any contact and out of the blue he starts a conversation with me on facebook says 'where have you been all summer' and I just kind of cut him short with disinterested answers and ended the conversation pretty fast. So what the hell is going on, is he interested in me or not? If he tries to ask me out when I see him again should I turn him down? I'm so confused. more

My sister is 15 and is at that stage where she thinks she is the shit. Everytime I do something she points out my flaws or anything negative to do with it. If we are with friends she'll tell me things like "so and so was looking at you weird" or just things that she should keep to herself. This summer a lot of my friends are out on vacations or have picked up 2nd jobs and she always comments that I'm a loser if I just sit back and relax for a day or two. One time she even said that she has more friends then me. I'm 18 and I don't think I'm better than her, but she acts like she is so much more popular. Resolved Question: My sisters guinea pig is dead. It is her birthday?

My sister's birthday was on the 7th of July. She turned 11. On the 7th I said I would take care of the guinea pig. I said that because it had some signs of death. I told her I will do the job for a few days. We have not celebrated her birthday yet. My Mom is a flight attendant, and she had to fly to New York, rest, then come back. She came back last night. My Dad is a lawyer. He had to go to Georgia for a lawsuit case. He came back on Thursday night. We can't do the party today because my Dad's cousin got married last night, and they are having another party today. We need to rest on Sunday. On Monday the whole family is getting together to celebrate her birthday, at the beach. We have done a lot of traveling this summer and we still will. We already went to Hawaii for 2 weeks, A Lake, Virginia, and DC. Our last summer vacation will be in October. Then fall begins. So I checked on the guinea pig today. He is 6 years old. Pretty old. He spent 1 year with the breeder and 1 year with the pet store and 1 year with an abusive family. Then we got him and we have had him for 3 years. We have took good care of him. The maximum of what he needs. My sister doesn't really have any friends, so that guinea pig was her only friend. 2 years ago, my sister transfered schools. 30 minutes away. She used to go to a school with 300 kids per grade. At her new school, she had 100 kids per grade. She used to be popular, at her old school the best of friends she could get is 3. But she treated everybody like a friend. But since she was the 'new kid' she doesn't have any friends. She is going to middle school next year. 4 schools together. My parents are divorced, and for birthday presents, I told them I am getting her something big. I told them a puggle. Half pug, half beagle. She loves both breeds dearly. So I got permission from both sides. My Dad and his girlfriend gave me $150 and so did my mom and step-dad to be. I met this breeder. She lives 40 minutes away. She breeds 10 different breeds. Popular ones. I asked her the price. She said in this economy, and her popular dogs, she will offer less to get more. She said $100 each with a crate and toy the dog has been playing with since birth and the birth video and a photo album of her. I looked at the selection of her puggles. Ok here's the dealio. All my friends have had at least one boyfriend so far. I have been single through the whole time. It's summer vacation, and I want to change. i have two twin daughters and their 14 there names are Brooke and Sky. Brooke seems to be so so nice to her school teachers and has been getting the best grades otherwise Sky is the total opposite she mouths of to teachers and has gotten suspended the other week just for a day but still she got suspended. Me and my husband had talked to her to see what the problem was and she said she didn't have a problem she just liked being popular. In the following day, I went to hospital and try to interview nursing but a lady who works at the human resource refused my request. You don’t have to read it all – you can just skim through it. My crush asked me to prom back in february. he actually turned down two girls for me – I found out because one of my friends had told me she asked him to prom and he’d said no and then when I told her he asked me, she said she knew he was going to ask me. we paid seperatly but we paid the couple's price - he offered to pay but we had already paid by then. people said that he wasn't going to come to prom but he did and we had a blast and he stayed next to me the whole time. At prom, he must have asked me three times what i was doing this summer and said we should hang out :). i told him i liked him before prom and he said he did't know how he felt, but if he'd date anyone it would be me. after prom, people started asking if we were dating and i kept saying i didn't know. that thursday i decided to ask him if we were and he said yes, i like you :). the next day, he asked me out and we went to dinner and the movies that saturday. he bought the tickets early (it was iron man 2 so it was pretty popular) and he paid for my meal. we had so much fun and then on monday he told his friends that he saw the movie with me. They started calling me "his girl(friend)" and he'd always look over to see how i'd react and would smile and blush when i just smiled. I invited him to my graduation party. On june 1st, we became official (on facebook and everything). People said he wasn’t going to show up at my party because he came back from vacation the night before but he did show up. I found out that he didn’t get back until 3 am, yet he still came :). He didn’t talk to me all that much but whenever I sat next to him, he’d always look me straight in the eye and would smile. When we did talk he’d always smile and blush. he met my best friends – they kind of embarrassed him but he was pretty sweet about it. they all approved of him and agreed that he’s really shy. At the end of the party, he stayed like 45 minutes afterwards and we just talked. He said we should defiantly get together when I got back from my trip and for me to call him so we can decide when to go out. Well he went on a 3 day vacation and when he got back, I went on a week vacation. I called him when he got back and he said he was going on another vacation (they travel a lot because his dad owns a bank – I know they have that travel mileage card thing or whatever). On Friday, I asked him if he wanted to come with me to the baseball game. I won’t be home till late (like 9 or 10) but i would have loved to :). By then the game would have been over. That Saturday I sent him a text that I missed him – I actually did and he said I may be free Sunday (tomorrow) but I said I was going away but would be free Thursday (today). He just said okay and when I asked him if it worked, he never answered. He didn’t answer my texts all week – I think something is wrong with his phone for he doesn’t get his texts until like an hour later. Well yesterday I called him and we talked for like 31 minutes (we sidetracked a lot about like cameras and computers since we’re both interested in them and then on vacations and stuff lol). I asked him if he was free tomorrow (today now) and he said he’d have to ask his dad to see what he was doing. I texted him around 8:30 last night and he never answered. Then around 10 he said he never got my text until then but he can’t get together tomorrow :). I found out that he was going away next Monday to the same place I’m going to this weekend. I asked him what part of the colony he’s staying in and he said he’d ask his dad in the morning (it was 12 am by then lol). I said we should like meet up on the beach or something and he never answered – I think he went to bed. Anyways long story short, he doesn’t answer my texts a lot but I think that’s because he doesn’t like texting and he hates his phone. He keeps saying that he’s busy and is on vacation – he is… I’m nont sure if he just doesn’t want to get together or what. and also we're in college and he has to do community service because he didn't do it in high school (long story - he has to do like 65 hours) and he also works for his dad alot since his dad owns a bank. plus this month he's been going away alot since he doesn't want to stay home alone with no car so he goes with his dad. I gave him like about a weeks notice but of course those were all the days he was either away or busy. So what’s up with him? Does he not want to get together or is he just really busy this past month? more

Resolved Question: Any advice about a super annoying friend?

Okay. My “friend” is THE most annoying person anyone could ever know. Well, to me she is. Here are some of the things she did last year (7th grade, I’m going into 8th) that make me just want to punch her when I see her again: 1. I am in chorus and LOVE to sing, but so is she and she thinks that the entire choir is her voice and no one else. Me, her, and two other girls were in first soprano and every time we had a high note to sing, she would turn around or lean in our direction whispering in our ear, “Did you sing? I didn’t hear you. All I heard was my voice.” 2. She thinks the world revolves around her. She constantly needs to have everything her way or she gets pissed off and rude and everything. She thinks she pretty when in my point of view she’s not, she thinks she’s popular and tries to act it, but I know half of the people she hangs out with don’t like her, and she thinks she’s skinny which she isn’t. 3. She brags about stuff she shouldn’t be bragging about. How her outfit (we have a chorus outfit) looks more amazing, how she thinks she’s one of the prettiest girl in the school, and yes, she says these things out loud. Four people, including me and her, tried out for All-State chorus. I got in, but I couldn’t go because of some financial issues. So who goes in my place? That girl (no names, sorry) who does all of these things. And worse, instead of just taking my place and shutting up about it like she should have, she goes around bragging about how she was the only one who got in out of four people, and no she didn’t! And for over a month she reminded me at least once a week in these exact words, “Hey, did you know I’m going to All-State instead of you?” or “Hey, I told you I’m going to All-State, right?” When duh, I knew. And she knew that too, because I’m the one who told her she would be taking my place. She just does it for attention in hopes of another “good job!” when she should be getting a “Shut the **** up! We know!!” I hate when people on face-book comment on her picture of the plaque she got saying, “You really deserved that,” and “Good job!” because she didn’t. I’m NOT saying I’m the best singer in the class, not by a long shot, but neither is she, and she needs to stop acting like she is. The problem here is not diagnosing me with jealousy; I know I have that, 100%, without a doubt, even though I hate this girl with all of my heart. It is also not pointing out that I hold a grudge; that is also something I know I do. The problem is trying to help me find good advice to tell her to back off and stop telling me she’s better than me and bragging about it constantly. But I have to do it without making my other friend stop hanging around me. SHE is truly a best friend, but she kisses up and bows down to the girl, constantly (and obviously at least to me) trying to make her approve her, or accept what she does. The day began like any other, I was at school on the last official day of school. Tomorrow I would pick up my report card and it would be summer vacation. I ended up deciding to hang out with a teacher for my afternoon instead of go to class. Which is weird because the teacher is not only a grumpy old hag but hates me. But in my dream she loves me, she chatting with me like I was her best friend. The day goes by some and Nathan shows up, he used to have a crush on me. (Also he is the popular guy in the school and is sorta cute) So we sat there all chatting like it happened every day. It was nearing the end of the day and the classroom we were sitting in turns into a school bus which the teacher is now driving, but the teacher is gone, its the bus driver with an attitude is here. So what ever, I keep talking with Nathan. The bus starts and stops by my school and picks up the regular group of kids, but this time Cass gets on. Again, strange, she doesn't take the bus, she walks. So I'm talking with her a bit. But then she stops and looks away. I look out the window into the distance. Its beautiful. Its rocky and sunny, fog is brushing past the mountain faces. Its so nice. A girl next to me starts complaining about her head being dry and I make a comment like, use Mayo, it'll moisturize your hair and make it feel better. She looks at me weird and then turns away to talk to her friend who also gave me a weird look. So we finally dropped off Nathan and a bunch of people, he smiled at me and said bye, see you soon. And the bus started going again once they we're out. But instead of heading to my stop, the bus got swung around and was back at the school. Apparently something was wrong with the bus or something in general. So I said fine, whatever, I'll walk. I told Cass I'd see her later and started walking to my house. I texted my mom to let her know what happened, and got no reply. I glanced up and smiled at some teens passing me bye who were talking so loud you could hear them anywhere. There was a couple yelling at each other over sex and other things. And as I move along, the people count drops and a group of cars pass by on the road off to the side of the normally busy highway, but now is dead. The cars keep passing each other off and some went on the side walk to pass one another. Soon the road was dead. I was walking more and more when a cart clatters behind me. I look around and see no one, but the cart. I look inside the cart and there are two babies. Poorly dressed and barely moving. I touched the cheek of the little girl, but she was gone. Her cheek was like ice. So I checked the little boy, he was okay, but again he was cold. So I picked him up, and held him to my chest for warmth while I searched through the things in the cart for some clothing to keep him warm. I knew I couldn't leave them there, it would eat at me if I did. So I dressed him, even though he fussed, and I wrapped the dead little girl in a blanket. I was giggling with the baby when I got the idea to take a picture with my phone. I checked to see if my mom replied, nothing. And then took a picture, the first one was blur, but the next was perfect. Then I noticed I had my thumb on the screen, I moved it and BAM. Man standing behind me. I swung around and saw him, standing there smiling. He said,"You looked like you were enjoying yourself with the children that I thought I'd wait." I asked him what he wanted, he ignored me. Then I felt deep in my gut to run. I told him to leave me alone repeatedly, and grabbed the cart and started fast walking away, but he followed me. I screamed, "F off, leave me alone!" and started to run, pushing the cart now a stroller. I was waving at cars, screaming at the top of my lungs, but no one stopped. I ran faster and faster, him right behind me. Then BAM, from Human, to a dog! He gained speed. But not enough to catch me. The again BAM, dog into a raven! He speed up drastically, he started dive bombing me, but I kept smacking him away still screaming. Then from raven he became and eagle, from and eagle he became a sparrow. All in this poof changing from this to this time, I had been swerving past houses, trailers and cars trying to get away. I was reaching a bridge when he dive bombed me again, but instead I caught him in my hand. He changed into a human right there and grabbed my arm, throwing me to the ground. A white convertible pulled up beside him with an fat, balding western kinda guy in the drivers seat laughing. I screamed what do you want! He said, I want to find my little girl. I've always been a full-time reader. During the school year, I manage to read an average of four (thick) books a week, if not more. Which is why we have a problem: school is finished in two days, and then the summer holidays start. And I have no access to a library. My mom has offered to pay for an Amazon Kindle due to their amazing new discount (now only $189!) and so I did a little research on the price of eBooks. Turns out the most popular titles are all about $10 to $12, and the only free ones are old classics that I'd prefer not to read during my vacation. If you calculate a book a day for 60 days, that's about $650. So, does anyone know any secret eBook clubs? Perhaps there's a pay-by-month kind of thing? An kind of unlimited reading? Okay, so today has to be the worst day of the year at school. And I've had some pretty bad mess-ups. All was well until I was walking down to the bus park after school, then a long-time classmate (10 years) and a group of his friends (including this one girl, who seems to love putting me down) came up behind me and began to talk. Next year, we won't be in the same classes anymore as we go out separate ways in high school in September. As I was walking down the steps, he and his friends pulled out behind me, and I got nervous as my friend had walked on to catch up with another of her friends. Ok guys this might be a little long but it is nesessary for you to understand my story first. I'm a 16 year old guy and I'm somewhat shy. I just recently got my licence and I have a car so now I can go where I want when I want. I have a good looking face but I'm kind of skinny.(5'9, 120Ibs). So, I'm talking to this guy. (I'm a girl, this profile is messed up intentionally.) He and I are great friends. He's the first person I want to tell when something good happens. He's the first person I go to for comfort when I'm down. I love speaking with him as we can have long, intelligent conversations and be totally enthralled in what the other is saying. He's witty, he's charming, he's charismatic... Plus he's quirky and just DIFFERENT. That's what I really like. So, I like him as more than a friend (clearly) and he's let me know that he likes me too. When we're sending instant messages back and forth, he'll send the little hug and kiss faces. When I tell him goodnight, he usually responds with, "Goodnight, Princess." He's even written a beautiful short poem for me that I love (and read constantly.) Here's the rub. He has no qualms telling me what he thinks via poetry. However, poetry can be romanticized and rarely expresses someone's feelings in reality, but more in the... well... poetic sense. (If that makes any sense.) The most I've gotten out of him as far as just being straightforward was to have him admit once that he did really like me. Now, he flirts and jokes around... however, he turns ANYTHING into a joke.. So I never know when he's serious. Also, there are times when he'll be super quiet. He won't talk to me all day. (Normally we text 99% of the day. Sometimes he texts me first, but usually I'm the first one to say hello for the day.) I'll get perhaps two text messages, and that's it for the day. These texts will be maybe a word or two in length and are usually a yes or no response, based on what I've sent him. Once, I asked him flat out how he feels, and he replied with another answer that was an attempt at a joke or to be funny, and I just sort of...deflated. His jokes are great, but it wouldn't kill him to just answer ONE question seriously... Then he got upset with me because he said that it hurt his feelings when I said I wasn't sure about what he thought about me and the potential of us having a future. I explained to him that with his constant joking and sarcastic manner, I could never tell when he was being serious, but it did me no good. The next day he was back to being sarcastic and a jokester. We live a few states away. Within the last month, he's been talking about coming up to visit me and seems really excited. He keeps saying he's going to come "rescue" me. (Another thing he says jokingly with his "princess" comments) I'm leaving in two weeks for a job up north and I'll be gone for four months. He's made no move to come visit and in the very few times I've asked about when I might see him, his answer is "Hmmm.. in the near future, I'd say. ;) " ...That's it.. At first I thought he was just trying to be cute and hinting and now I think he's just putting it off and putting it off until all of the sudden, it's too late and I have to leave. Also, he applied to work at the same place I'll be working this summer and they hire TONS of people (as it's in a popular vacation spot.) I've already been through the whole interview process and everything and got hired... I know how it works... So I told him that he might want to call in and speak with the woman in charge of hiring. Calling in shows drive and determination (something this woman looks for. I should know, I've known her since birth.) Every day he makes an excuse for a reason not to call. Either it's too late in the day (at 3:30 p.m.) or it's a weekend (the place is open every day) etc. etc. etc. This has been going on for over 2 weeks now. It's getting old. He even says that they called him but he missed the call and they didn't leave a voice mail. If he doesn't want to come visit... if he doesn't want to work out there this summer... if he doesn't like me as I do him... he needs to just.. TELL ME. He needs to stop flirting and writing the poems and being so... ugh.. I don't know.. Guys, maybe you can translate. If time matters, we've been talking for months... Resolved Question: What do you think about using the same name as another author?

Yes, I know that there are many names, and of course, they're going to get used frequently at times--especially if they're popular around the time the book is written, I guess. I was going to use the name Jinx for a story that I'm currently working on. It came to mind all of a sudden, and I liked it. It fit my character's personality. But, while I was browsing through some YA books to read on Summer Vacation, I came across a book--written by Meg Cabot, if I'm not mistaken--that uses that name in at least one of her books. If I remember correctly, though, it was a series. Unfortunately, the books was about witches, which is exactly what mine is about. Honestly, it was almost shocking. I've never heard of those books before--let alone read them. I'm assuming it would seem to readers that happened to read that book that I was purposefully copying the author. I'll probably end up changing my main character's name altogether. I really liked the name, though. It's just such a huge coincidence... What would you do? more

Petty, a seven-time champion and NASCAR’s all-time winningest driver, thought their absence was wrong. “A lot of these drivers that are doing pretty well today don’t realize what some of the guys went through to get it to this point,” Petty said last weekend. “A lot of us old timers look back and hope that the guys that are doing it now appreciate what the guys did who laid the groundwork.” All four champions had various reasons for missing the ceremony. (this is going to be very detailed-ill try to make it short) I'm a freshman in high school. I'm at a new, big school and a few of my middle school friends go to this high school also.What's been really bugging me lately is how they go places and they don't even invite me. Last week my friend kept saying to me that he was going somewhere awesome with my other friend. When I asked him where he either said "Don't worry about it" or "It's a secret" when I knew that it wasn't a secret. Since I knew the password to his xbox live account I changed it then gave it back 2 hours later. I think he deserved it after being such a jerk. He didn't think so. Ever since then things have gotten worse. He doesn't even talk to me or replies to my text messages, and he does it on purpose. This past saturday he went to the movies with like 2 of my other friends and they didn't invite me. It's been like this for a few months. He goes out somewhere and he doesn't invite me and when I ask him why he doesn't want me there he doesn't tell me. Now, with school ending and summer vacation starting, I fear that I will be bored all summer with my face glued to the tv like last year. So, how do I make things better again? I can't just "make new friends" because I get all anxious around people who aren't my friends. Also, how can I talk to this girl? Even though the republicans do not agree with the democrats agenda, I could not believe my eyes to see how they could just sit there and not show any sign of respect for President Obama! They did not even stand up, How rude and ridiculous! What type of Message does this send out to the people of america and the world? I'm a 14 years old straight male teen who's never been in a relationship. I'm kind of shy, not really absolutely popular at school but I do have friends. Now there's this girl, 15 years old at school. I know her since we were 8 actually, and since this very first day I saw her, I liked her (I was a kid and didn't really understand what I felt). But we just know each other and barely talk. All I can say is that she's not the kind of girl who pokes fun at people and stuff, she's really kind, but I don't think she really cares about me, and I don't know if she's in a relationship. 2 years ago, I spent my whole summer vacations thinking about her, hoping that she'll be in my class, and she didn't end up in my class. The fact is, I can't hold my breath anymore, so now I'm thinking about sending her a private message on Facebook, and tell her what I feel about her, and I don't care about what's going to happen afterwards.
