Me and my family want to vacation this summer. We don't want it to be TOO expensive for a hotel room (family of 4 by the way). We really want the ocean or lake to have really warm water. Okay so my family and I have ecided to go on a vacation for our early spring break (like 7 days off school) well we dont know where to go, probably not Florida because we go there like every summer and its a little pricey. So I need to decide where I'm going. I've already got a job working on electronic components of fighter jets. I have yet to ship out to boot camp. My recruiter is trying to tell me that Arizona is nice. I just imagine Arizona as a desert that's too hot to do much of anything. Is he just telling me AZ because there are spots there that need to be filled? I live in Georgia now. I kinda want to go to a place far from family. I just want to get away from everyone. You know, be truly independent. A friend recommended Florida, saying that I'd get home sick and the USA is the best place to live after spending a summer in Russia. I really like the idea of beaches, as I've never had the opportunity to be around them much before. Also, everyone goes to Florida for vacation, so it must be nice, huh? But I don't like the fact that it's still so close to home. I want to really feel like I'm on my own. I think it would be like an adventure to go overseas. I'd like to see the world outside Georgia.Thank you everyone for the answers! I'd better get a new passport in case I manage to get overseas! more

In large metro areas of the USA like New York City, Los Angeles, Washington DC, how much money per year would a family of 4 need to earn in order to live a comfortable, affluent lifestyle? By affluent/comfortable I mean: -A large suburban house aprx 2500 sq. feet. with a large lot in a leafy village like neighbourhood. -House is tastefully decorated and furnished, but not overly extravagant -2 cars, one a newish SUV, the other a late model sedan like a Buick or a BMW 5. -Private local schools for the children -A summer home near a beach or the mountains -A 20 foot pleasure boat -At least 2 family vacations per year -Eat out at a decent restaurant least once a week. -Enough money coming in to cover all necessities, many extras, some indulgences, and enough still left to save for pensions, educations, and a rainy day. more
