Summer Vacations For Students To China Questions asked

Resolved Question: i need help with my asian mom?

i just completed the gr 8 RCM piano exam with first class honors, it didn't take me too long, about 3 months. now she's just nuts, she wants me to jump on to gr 10 RCM piano and do the exam in the early august which is MY VACATION TIME,she's also making me to take summer school this year to get extra credits which i don't know why? i get all my credits in school and achieve averages like 90, im an excellent student in school, i get involved in a lot of extracurricular activities, like clubs, bands and sport teams, and i am the only grade representative in my grade chosen by the students which also means i am popular. i know this isn't something a popular kid do but im frustrated. i live in canada with my mom and most of my family is in china, going back to china this year is like something i planned decades ago and i wanna have a good time. me and my mom argues a lot over piano, last time she smashed my Dell Alienware which was like a 2000 dollar gaming laptop just because i didn't practice for enough time. Now i've passed grade 8 piano with first class honors and i even have 5 students i charge them 20 dollars an hour im pretty happy with it. but for the past few days me and my mom have been going around and looking for piano teachers, all of the teachers said that it's almost an impossibility to pass gr 10 in just 5 months, an average piano player takes about 15 months to prepare for the gr 10 exam. but she doesn't care, she doesn't know anything about piano and all she wants is for me to pass gr 10 ASAP. i said to her that i will practice the pieces i like and when i come back from china i will start gr 10 and yea blah blah blah. that just started a big argument she's talking about things like how smart i am and other bullcrap. then im like F*CK YOU MOM i dont give a sh!t, im tired of writing this bullsh!t anyways. so, is it possible to pass gr 10 in 5 months? more

Resolved Question: What are the pros and cons of extending school hours and year?

I will start my list and you can add to it: Pro: 1) Benefit for parents who work more than one job or long hours-govenment funded daycare 2) Benefit for parents who just want the kids out of their hair until it is time for bed 3) Benefit for unemployed adults as school children will not have time for an after school job or summer job and the adults can take their place 4) Possibility of just as good of test scores and grades as other countries such as china and japan-the differences between us and them is the foreign parents actually encourage school instead of looking at it as a government funded daycare and foreign students actually care about an education Cons: 1) After school activities wil be cut short 2) Family time will be cut short-some families actually do like spending times with their kids 3) Teachers will have less time with their own families 4) Kids will lose needed extra money because they won't be able to work after school or during the summer. 5) Economic downturn-Resort towns and vacation spots and businesses will loose income and employees because summer vacation is the biggest money maker. 6) Students who hate school but are forced under penalty of law to attend will have more incentive to drop out. 7) Bullying will have longer hours and will be year round-students who are bullied pray for summer vacation. more

Resolved Question: What gift do I give for my family in China?

China makes everything, or it's cheaper. I'm going back to China for vacation this summer and I want to know what can I get here that might cost more or more of a "luxury" item in China. I'm thinking cosmetics for my cousin or Chocolate. (I heard Chinese chocolate barely taste like the real chocolate) I don't have a limit but...100 dollars? I'm a student and always broke=3 ~Thanks <3 more

Resolved Question: Which of these 4 options (summer work) do you think sounds better?

hi I am a university student and I need something to keep me occupied during the (4 month) summer vacation. These are my options: 1) Stay in the city where my university is and look for a paid part-time job (e.g. waitress, retail assistant, kitchen assistant). Will be away from my family but could go back and visit every fortnight. Will have 2 friends for company, and the gym I paid for will be nearby 2) Go back to tiny boring home-town where I have no friends and no gym, but a loving family who I love spending time with, and hope that my old job at a supermarket will give me some hours on the tills (hate the job but will get to be with my family) 3) Take a volunteering project/placement abroad e.g. business in China, conservation in Brazil etc. - no pay, will have to pay a lot of money for flights, but interesting experience 4) Book a week long package holiday to Ibiza/Tenerife etc. (a mediterranean clubbing resort) to try and look for season work , no guaruntee will find a job so could be a waste of £400! Season work e.g. bar-work , PR, waitressing, etc. I NEED something to do over the summer because I'm trying to get over my ex boyfriend and I find that as long as I don't have "idle mental time" I'm ok. When my uni exams finish this semester I'll have nothing to focus on and I don't want to relapse and get all depressed again! I should mention that I'm studying Anatomy and Human Biology, but don't want a career in this field. I'm 20 years old and have lived a fairly-sheltered life..I've never been abroad on my own. Can you please tell me what you think would be best? x more

Resolved Question: Question regarding American Visa and I- 20?

I have a friend from China and she's currently a student in one of the universities in US. She plans to go back to China this summer for vacation and plan to go back to US (she's the first year graduate student) just several days before her US visa expires. Will she encounter any problem in airport/ immigration? she still has one more year on her i- 20..and if she has to apply a visa, she would rather not go to china..since it is usually hard to get the visa. Anyone can help? Thx a lot. more

Resolved Question: FUTURE & Globalization?

Supposefly China will be the next superpower, does that mean more people will emigrate there? Furthermore, how will they be able to control the population of immigrants if their country is overpopulated already. Furthermore, since China holds the world's largest population along with India will the people of future be mixed predominantly with some kind of Asian ancestry? Will Mandarin or other Chinese languages become a mandatory for American students to learn? What's the future of the U.S since our economy isn't doing to well? Will more people leave the U.S.? How can the U.S. education system met that of Asia's. I heard we have a very crummy educational system. Is this linked to free education? I heard in some Asian country they go to school 6 days a week and only have one month off for summer vacation. Why don't we start doing this? more

Resolved Question: finding travelmates for Japan/China/VS/... or alternative vacation?

hi, I'm a college student from Belgium and I'm searching for a alternative vacation this summer, I've been thinking about backpacking around europe, getting a last-minuit or lately, traveling to a far destination (preferabel Japan, China or VS) with some people that share the same interest. Anyone know if there are sites that bring such people together? Any suggestion for a budget-friendly vacation or alternative vacation? many thanks =) more

Resolved Question: What On-The-Go Reference Books Do You Recommend For Before Highschool?

I am currently an eighth grade student, and will be taking a vacation back to China this summer that will last nearly all summertime. Thus, I will be unable to schedule any lessons over my trip. What nineth-grade level reference or practice books would you recommend that associate with Chemistry, Geometry Honors, or Spanish 2 that are small in size and easy to carry to China? more
