If you don't know anything about it.... you shouldn't talk. I live in a suburb of the city and I know damn well a lot of people will be heartbroken if a mosque will be built that close to the site where Islamic terrorists killed and injured their loved ones. Every time they walk by World Trade, they are reminded of the tragedy. Similar to the Arizona immigration law. I was originally against it, thinking, illegal immigrants only work in the backs of kitchens, what is so wrong about that? Until I met someone from El Paso, a border town in Texas. She explained to me that illegal immigration there is much different than it is here. She explained to me that illegal immigrants are attending the schools, and the quality of education is going down. And many of them are involved in extremely dangerous drug trafficking. 9/11 means something different to me than it means to you. If Hitler followed a religion, would a worship house of his faith be built next to a concentration camp? Absoutely not. And I think everyone agrees on that issue. It seems the Holocaust is the only tragedy that everyone agrees on. The fact is, 9/11 is a similar tragedy, and the American people need to realize that. Thoughts?WRG: I'm not saying they are the same. I understand the Holocaust is a much bigger deal. The point I am trying to make is to a victim, they are similar tragedies. moreOpen Question: Do you think San Antonio, Texas will have increase in violence because the zetas?

Do you think there would be a spike of violence? moreOpen Question: Are Mexicans taking over America? Here are some quotes.?

MONTERREY, Mexico—A surge of drug violence in Mexico's business capital and richest city has prompted an outcry from business leaders who on Wednesday took out full-page ads asking President Felipe Calderón to send in more soldiers to stem the violence. The growing violence in Monterrey, long one of Mexico's most modern and safe cities, is a sign that the country's war against drug gangs is spreading ever further from poorer battlegrounds along the border and into the country's wealthiest enclaves. Residents opened their newspapers Wednesday morning to find the ads taken out by Mexican business leaders, begging the government to send more military into the city. "Enough already," said the notice that ran in national and local papers, criticizing what it said was a slow response of police against "criminal bands that in every act look to establish a new boundary of terror." Later that day, the body of Edelmiro Cavazos, mayor of the Monterrey suburb of Santiago, was found beside a highway. Mr. Cavazos had been abducted Sunday night, the latest in a string of attacks against politicians in Mexico's north. His killing is another incident in a terrifying spell for Monterrey residents that began Saturday when armed gangs set up more than a dozen roadblocks on key boulevards of the city, paralyzing traffic for hours. The next day, a grenade was lobbed at the offices of an important television broadcaster. On Tuesday night, grenades were also hurled at several small businesses on the city's outskirts. "The security environment in Monterrey has turned, in just a few months, from seeming benevolence to extreme violence," U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Carlos Pascual said at a recent conference on drug trafficking in El Paso, Texas. Monterrey is only the latest sign of mounting problems in Mexico's war on organized crime. The official toll since President Calderón took power in December 2006 is more than 28,000, according to government figures through July. Mr. Calderón recently acknowledged the government's inability to check the violence with brute force alone and has invited lawmakers to debate measures such as legalizing drugs. The brutality of the conflict is escalating. Alleged gang hit men broke into the home of a Chihuahua state policeman this week and strangled to death his 4-year-old brother, authorities said. Across the country, mutilated and decapitated bodies turn up virtually every day, sometimes hanging from bridges. It wasn't always this way in Monterrey. Mexicans know the city of 2 million as "The Sultan of the North," a nickname stemming from its wealth, generated by corporations such as Mexico's beverage titan Femsa S.A.B. de C.V. and U.S. businesses such as Whirlpool Corp. and General Electric Co., which have large offices in Monterrey. International architects built the city's skyline, which is framed by dramatic mountains. "We're defenseless here. Who do we call for help?" said a local hotel owner who used to own the Holiday Inn stormed by masked gunmen in April, asking that his name not be used. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704557704575437762646209270.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_LEFTTopStories moreOpen Question: why is my package from fedex scheduled for delivery next tuesday when its in the same state?

The ending is a bit weak, I need heavy critiques and advice. I’ve always been the girl with the story to tell. For every discussion I have a fact, an opinion, a word, or a truth to pull out of my pocket and place on my lips. Through my voice I am obstinate, powerful, and honest. I am not the timid child, hiding in the corner buried in a pile of books to avoid eye contact that my natural instincts made me. You see, I am not who everyone thinks I am. I am not as bold, not as fearless, not as indomitable as my friends believe. I am an introvert screaming at the top of her lungs, that she is otherwise. I refuse to be reduced to an emotion such as fear, shaking and voiceless. But my new characteristic obstinacy comes from a memory that I’ve regretted everyday, one of those small events that most wouldn’t even remember. It is that regret that has helped shape my voice. I was twelve years old when I heard there was going to be a lecture on the Islamic culture held at our local church, and I begged my mother to go. I saw it as an opportunity to learn some truth, which had been evasive or mixed with anti Muslim rhetoric. Little did I know that this was no lecture. It was going to be spewing hatred, a manipulation of facts skewered upon broken truths by a charismatic man, who given his studies and his intellect had no reason for spreading a hatred that at that time in my life, I had deemed old worldly. Such talk was a thing of books, or back porches in some far away land on the opposite side of Texas. Not Galveston, which to me at the time was a metropolitan city. How foolish I was. At first the speaker seemed charming, educated, intelligent, and charismatic. To my surprise he informed us he was Jewish. (I had expected a Muslim.) but that did not seem to matter. He had this gentle easy manner when he talked, holding an already captivated room hypnotized, I could not help but have confidence in him. However, soon his words began to contrast sharply with the image of the man before me. I could not imagine how they fell from the lips of this sweet little old man, with his rounding beer belly, kind eyes, and receding hairline. Facts itched in my pocket, begging to be taken out, imploring my lips to speak. I could almost hear their individual voices “Only 15% of the Muslim world is Arabic,” one would say, it’s words echoing in my mind, as if the rational of a statistic with a forgotten source would fix everything. I wanted to scream as he cited various terror attacks as proof that Muslims were of the devil. It went on for hours. And I remained bitterly silent, turning my anger inward. The facts that swarmed in my mind turned to vague whispers, realizing that the instinctual introvert in my body was not to be moved. She was captivated by a fear that made me ignore the truths screaming in my body, wishing to be let out. Thus leaving me hauntingly silent, knowing that in some ways I was worse than the adults who surrounded me lost in the haze of their passion. When the meeting dispersed, and the adults wandered through the fog of all that was said and felt trying to find their way back home, their minds swarming excitedly with new passions, new thoughts and permission to hold such ideas, I walked back to our car quickly with tears streaming down my cheeks. It was there I vowed never to be silent again, to defend anyone or people regardless of their presence or not, and to most importantly defend my own beliefs. It is a hollow bitter feeling to know that you have failed once in this respect, but I have never failed again. Now the truths swarming in my pocket are collected at the tip of my tongue, simply waiting for the day they will be in use once more. Because of this man, I try to never let hate spill from my lips into the world. I strive to keep an open mind, for fear of my logic becoming backwards, and I hope that I never allow my pocket of facts to be used to attack a person or a group of people. From his bias I have learned that an argument should be phrased constructively, and that the point of a lecture shouldn’t be to rile the emotions of an audience blindly, but to encourage thoughts, even if they differ widely from each other. moreResolved Question: What do you think about the bp chemical benzene release?
It appears that BP tried to bury this news over the weekend while everyone else was watching a saw get stuck in the blow out pipe a mile underwater. That’s right BP hid the fact that they released incredible amounts of highly toxic benzene into the air for 40 straight days. TEXAS CITY, Texas — At BP’s Texas City refinery, more than 400 pounds a day of benzene — 40 times the state reportable levels — was released during a 40-day period while a subunit of the refinery’s ultracracker unit was offline, according to a company filing with the state’s environmental agency Friday. In all, BP officials said more than 500,000 pounds of pollutants and nonpollutants were released while the company increased flaring as they tried to repair a compressor on the faulty unit. Refinery spokesman Michael Marr said in its follow up reporting with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, BP estimated 36,000 pounds of nitrogen oxides and 17,000 pounds of benzene were released in the 40 days. State law requires 10 pounds or more of benzene and 200 pounds or more of nitrogen oxide during a 24-hour period must be reported through the commission’s air emissions database. Benzene is a carcinogen naturally found in oil that has been linked to some forms of cancer, according to U.S. Health and Human Services records. Nitrogen oxides react to sunlight to form ozone and can damage lung tissue and cause respiratory problems. moreResolved Question: Husband -- Should I Be Suspicious?
My 40-year old husband sometimes frequents a few watering holes when he leaves the office in NYC and before his train commute home. He has spoken about various places hes goes to and I have no problem with it. Last week when my husband and I went out for the evening, I left to use the bathroom and when I returned to my seat, I caught the end of a conversation he was having with the bartender and then he immediately attempted to stop the topic of conversation when I approached and fluffed it off like it was nothing. Oh, what I did hear was something about "daisy dukes shorts." And, he ended with "oh we were talking about Whistlin' Dixie Texas Tavern (in New York City)." I don't know if this places is a isingles bar? A nightclub? Twenty-something place? Anyway, do you think I should be suspicious for any reason? Any input would be great Thanks! Thanks guys! I just thought it was strange. I guess I am just letting some small insecurities get the best of me. Like I said, I never had a problem with him going out for drinks before coming home, he just acted weird when talking about this one place in NYC. moreResolved Question: Conservatives, do you agree with this opinion on the ground zero mosque?
President Obama finally weighed in, saying “I believe that Muslims have the right to practice their religion, as everyone else in this country.” After being criticized by many, he clarified that “I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there.” Republican senators played up to their base, as well as many others who are uncomfortable with the decision. I think the president, by the way, is trying to have it have it both ways,” Republican New York Congressman Peter King said. “To me, it demonstrates that Washington, the White House, the administration, the president seems to be disconnected from the mainstream of America,” Republican Texas Senator John Cornyn said. I am not an ideologue, or a person that follows the Republican party no matter their stance. And in this instance, I agree with the President Obama (yikes…I don’t even like typing that!). As a Conservative, we do, and should, hold the law of the Constitution above our feelings. One of my main arguments with liberals is their attempt to “interpret” the law in a way that fits their ideology, thus destroying the Constitution in the process. So, more than others, I believe conservatives MUST acknowledge the right of this building to be built. It doesn’t matter what mainstream America thinks. The 1st Amendment and the Freedom of Religion are nonnegotiable. Do I think people have every right to think it’s insensitive and the right to be upset? Yes. Do I think that there is enough negative public opinion that the Imam should consider a compromise? Yes. Do I acknowledge the right of New York city builders to refuse to build it, if they wish? Yes. But it’s important for Conservatives to hold the Constitution and all of our rights above public opinion. It’s what we do.Of course people have the right to protest. And I agree, the President has no say. And I think that's pretty much what Obama has said. They have the right, and he won't speak on his opinion. I say he's correct. moreVoting Question: how much is 10 acres of land in my area?

I want a baby really bad. I'm 24 years old. I have a decent job, my own place, and currently engaged to get married for June 2011. My fiance is 26 and is a wonderful guy and would make a great father. We both really want a baby but agree it is not the right time. There are so many things we want to do before we bring children into the picture. We would like to get a car. We planned to move to Texas after we marry, and at least have some money saved up for our house. Sometimes I feel like I want a baby so bad and I just don't think I can't wait for all of these things to happen first before we have our first child. I think he feels the same way. Besides, he really want to get a better job first before we even have a child. I just don't know what to do. I have strong baby fever. I picture myself pregnant. I always read about pregnancy stories and watch pregnancy vlogs. It's almost ridiculous. When I'm watching pregnancy vlogs on youtube, he always think it is so cute how badly I want a baby. I just don't know what to do. I know that if we have children now, all our plans will not necessarily be down the drain but it would be much harder to do. It's just so crazy. I know I'm babbling along but I'm so scared to be pregnant but I really want that perfect gift at the end of each pregnancy, A BABY. What makes me think about it a lot is our home life. Our place is so homey and warm. My fiance and I have such great times in here and when we are on two separate couches reading a book or playing on our laptops and the house is just quiet, I would think to myself something is missing. I picture a baby crawling around or a small toddler running around. IThese are the moments I want to have or look forward to. It's almost like my fiance and I are 98% perfect but a baby will make us 110% perfect. I don't know if that makes sense but these are some of the things I think about day to day. Even though I really want to have a baby, I am also very scared. I'm scared of labor and delivery but most of all I'm scared of the major change in my life. Becoming a mom is much bigger decision then what city I want to live in after graduation or what college should I go to? A baby is a life long responsibility. I believe I'm ready for it but sometimes I wonder am I truly ready? But then people always say, you never can be ready for the challenges of parenthood. What are your thoughts? I just wanted to share this with someone. moreResolved Question: Which US state should I move to?

I live in Texas and right now my boyfriend and I are no longer together. We have a little girl together (whom has his last name) and there has been issues reguarding who takes care of my baby. I had recently gone to the police in my city because he was being abusive towards me. The police officers told me that because we were living together for more than a year and we havent gone to court for the child he has just as much right to see my baby as i do. If he has my baby he can deny her from being with me and vise versa. However if he leaves my baby with a relative or a friend then i can go pick her up. Now I had left my baby with my mom. He went to go pick her up and left her at his mothers who lives in another city. But when i went to go pick her up his mother called the cops and the cops from that city said i couldnt take her. I told him what the other PD said and he told me that because its two different cities then its two different scenarios. His mother knows the Cheif of Police in her city and this doesnt sound right to me. I dont know what to do. I had to leave my baby there. Does anyone know if this was right? what should i do next? he has no job. Ive reported his physical abuse towards me and he was stalking me which almost got me fired! moreResolved Question: Can I evict a tenant who is constantly late on their rent? We have a oral agreement and no written lease.?
My tenant moved in Feb 2010 and has only paid rent on time twice. She was a month and a half late at one point and did get caught up. She is consistently late and I have had to tell her to mow her yard after receiving a letter from the city on two occasions. I actually mowed it once, because she stated it wasn't even tall. We had an agreement that there would not be any smoking in the house, and she is smoking inside the house. I would like to rent the home to someone who will be prompt and more responsible. What are my options to have the tenant to vacate the property? I am located in Texas. Thank you in advance for your help. moreResolved Question: How is it that 66% of Americans are against the mosque near ground zero? Are we against freedom of religion?
Are that many of us in our country hateful of the Islam religion so that we take it out on the 95% of Muslims who want nothing to do with terrorism? Could you imagine if this question was asked this way instead....."Would you be against building a church near the site of the Branch compound in Waco, Texas or the Oklahoma City Federal Building?" Both David Koresh and Tim McVeigh were Christian terrorists who believed they were acting on behalf of God....should we take away Christians' right to worship because of some bad apples out there? I just can't believe that 2/3 of Americans are against freedom of religion. Whether the mosque is near ground zero doesn't matter...it is freedom of religion...as long as they pay the taxes and the fee for building the place. If it was 3 blocks farther away people would still be against it, or whether it was 6 blocks away people would still be against it....has Fox News and the right wing been effective at scaring people into believing that every Muslim wants to kill them in their sleep? For those who are against it being so close to the ground zero site...how far would it have to be to please you? Since you set the rules in America...how far? 3 more blocks? 8 more blocks? How many blocks is far enough until freedom of religion goes into effect? moreResolved Question: Which US state should I live in?

So why are Republicans pushing to stop or deport as many immigrants as they can? In the immigration debate, they constantly scream that we need to close the borders. Is the immigration crackdown that Republicans push really about keeping crime down? The source is included in the article. ===================== Five Immigrant Cities on List of Top Ten Safest Cities Recently, an independent study listed the top ten safest cities in the United States based on FBI crime statistics in areas with populations over 500,000. Half of the cities that made the list are cities "largely populated by immigrants," and two are border cities. It turns out that if you are looking for a big city low on crime and high on probability of awesome food you might want to consider living in El Paso, Texas; New York, New York; San Jose, California; San Diego, California; or Los Angeles, California. Following Michelle Obama's Spanish vacation renting all 60 rooms at a Luxury Spanish Villa with her youngest daughter & 40 of Michelle's closest friends and before the whole family 10 day get away to Martha Vineyard in Massachusetts the advisers to Obama got him to squeeze in a 2 day weekend getaway in Panama City, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico just to counter the ELITIST IMAGE there many, many vacations to most luxurious spots the taxpayers money can get them to on Air Force 1 & 2. I guess they needed a 2 day weekend getaway to help them rest up from all that luxurious vacationing they have been doing this summer. In the past 18 months the Obama has taken 8 vacations - HOW MANY HAVE YOU TAKEN? ARE THE OBAMAS SLUMMING IT DOWN ON THE GULF OF MEXICO ON A TWO DAY WEEKEND GETAWAY? Oh, and those who want to attack Bush to try and defend the elitist vacationing of the Obama's - Bush in 8 years took 77 trips home to his ranch in Crawford - and stayed in his 1,300 sq ft home and cut brush. Oh and the house was fully wired and connected to allow him to do everything he could do at the White House. The second place he spent most of his "vacation" time was at Camp David mostly on weekends and again Camp David the presidential getaway is wired up like the White House allowing him to do everything he needed to from there. Congress left on vacation Aug 2001 and when George W. Bush decided to spend most of August at his ranch in Texas instead of the White House the Press had a conniption criticizing Bush. The widely known but always down-played Reconquista Movement is alive and well and coming to a town near you. Mexico is taking much of this country through very aggressive illegal immigration, as well as an equally aggressive birth rate. The Pew Hispanic Center just announced the results of a recent study which found that of the 4.3 million babies born in the U.S., during 2008, about 340,000 were born to illegal aliens. The study found that children born to illegal aliens account for 7 percent of the total population of people under the age of 18, or 5.1 million children. 79 percent of those children were born in the United States, automatically making them U.S. citizens. The goal of the Reconquista Movement was once designed to takeover the southwestern border states of California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. However, through the exploitation of the 14th Amendment, illegal aliens are now building colonies in every state of the union. The following statistics provided by the U.S. Census Bureau are staggering and frightening: -In 2005, Latinos accounted for half of the U.S. population growth. -The total U.S. population more than doubled from 131.7 million in 1940 to 290.8 million in 2003, the Latino population increased nearly 30 times in that same period. In 1940, the Latino population within the U.S. was 1.4 million, by 2003 it had swelled to 40 million. -Between 2000-2003, the Latino population within the U.S. grew at a rate of 13 percent, while the U.S. non-Latino population grew at a rate of only 0.8 percent during the same period. -Recently, the ethnocentric Latino group known as La Raza proudly reported on their website that 85 percent of the Latino population under 18 were born inside the United States. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 80 percent of our Latino population is age 44 or younger, which means that the vast majority of Latinos in the U.S. are still of child-bearing age. With the unchecked illegal immigration crisis, this country will become another Latin American nation in our lifetime. What will this mean to you?...The disappearance of the English language, the destruction of our traditional American culture, the over-population of our cities, epidemics of once-thought eradicated diseases, crushing poverty, and soaring crime. Considering the fact that illegal aliens already account for 29 percent of this nation's prison population, we can expect that prison building will become the new growth industry. Public schools will only teach English as a second language, and municipal services will be stretched beyond their limits. But the real problem will be that our politics will be controlled by those whose loyalties actually lie with another nation. Once our political system becomes dominated by illegal aliens and their offspring, our resources will no longer be our own, but will be used only to benefit Mexico. If an effort is not made to protect our border with Mexico and we do not soon adopt a sensible immigration policy--the United States as we know it will cease to exist in the near future. http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-35821-Immigration-Reform-Examiner~y2010m8d12-Is-Mexico-annexing-the-US-through-their-socalled-anchor-babies moreResolved Question: Can anyone review my essay plz?
Hi all! This is my essay for University of Texas admission. The prompt is to write about someone who has influenced your life. I really want to get i so if anyone could review this essay and offer constructive criticism, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance! My eyes stared wide as the buildings drew closer and closer, then started whizzing by at a hundred miles per hour. And then, there was touchdown, and the beginning of my new life in the city of Hong Kong. That first flight between my old home in India and my new one in Hong Kong is one of my earliest memories. My father had worked hard to come here so that he could provide a better life for his family. Ever since those early years my parents had shown me the value of family and of excelling in every endeavor I undertook. I soon began attending school in Hong Kong. I was enormously excited for my first day of school in a new city, but when I got there, my hopes quickly faded. I realized that not only did I look different from all my classmates; I did not even speak the same language as many of them! I also learned that my classmates were leaps and bounds ahead of me in terms of academics, but I was determined to catch up with them and fit in as quickly as possible. Every day after school, I would sit with my mom and learn everything that my classmates had already been taught. In just six weeks, I learned how to read, write, and do basic arithmetic, and I went form being an underdog to being one of the best students I the class! Those long hours of studying also taught me the values of patience, hard work, and perseverance. Perhaps more importantly, as I looked proudly at my report card, I saw the tangible benefits those values can have. While I was succeeding in the classroom, my father was hard at work looking for a still better life for his family. Remaining true to his values of excellence and advancement, my father moved again, this time to the United States. I was again thrust into a new school, but to my surprise, what I had learned in Hong Kong paid off, and this time I was the one who was leaps and bounds ahead of my classmates! At around the same time, my mom decided to pursue her own dream of becoming an engineer, and she went back to college to get her second masters degree. By doing this, my mom not only taught, but showed me the value of a good education, and of pursuing your dreams. Because she would no longer be at home with me after school, my mom also indirectly taught me how to be self-reliant and independent. I learned how to make dinner or myself, how to take care of my little sister, and how to eschew the TV in favor of a textbook so that I could study for my next exam. My parents have been without a doubt the most influential people in my life. In the ugliest of situations - in new schools and new countries, my parents have taught me valuable lessons through their own actions that I will never forget. moreResolved Question: R&P - Trying to put Screennames with Locations. I'm going back to college (in Texas) and I want to know if you think I could get away with using my brothers ID. He's 22 and I'm 19, we look pretty similar. Since I live in Texas, I was wondering what the citizens of New York City thought of the "Freedom Tower" project (the "new" World Trade Center and complex). My view is that it is ugly, and it does nothing to honor the memories of those who perished on 9/11. We said that we would "never forget", but if the Freedom Tower is built, we ARE forgetting. The Twin Towers should be rebuilt, either as they were, or as the "Twin Towers 2" design. Now, I've heard that the Freedom Tower has gone over like a lead balloon with most New Yorkers, but I want a real New Yorker's opinion. Please answer this only if you live within the five boroughs of New York City. moreResolved Question: Fellow Poopers: Where would you rather live & why?

New to Texas and I'm looking for an interesting road trip from Austin, up to a 6-7 hour drive in any direction. I enjoy the outdoors (camping, hiking etc) as well as enjoying large cities, preferably small towns though (looking for things off of the beaten path), I'm really open to just about any suggestions. Me and the boyfriend are in our mid-twenties so we also enjoy having at least one "party" night on any vacation. I'm being vague for a reason, I want to see a variety of things while in Texas and I'm very laid back and eclectic. Here are some questions of concern I have for serious relocation consideration - please as much first hand or trust worthy info as posible 1/ I hear the Denver people are fake, snobby, close minded, ignorant, cowboy mentality - is there much truth to any of this? 2/ One guy online said the restaurant food is "mediocre at best", I suppose this is completely weed wack? 3/ I expect to live in or near the southern part of Denver (low crime). My question is once I get outside the Denver city borders (as of course I can not hibernate in one city) - is it pretty dull as far as appearance - restaurants, shopping, businesses, etc... for the exception of a few dull looking strip malls. South Aurora and Lakewood (major suburban cities), and Centennial (a tiny but seemingly nice looking town) look decent online - are they and how about outside Denver city borders in general? Well the Mesa/Chandler/Gilbert area in Arizona may just be too hot for comfort, being formally from Michigan, I am considering the Denver area instead, possibly Plano/Carrollton Texas. Although the above are my current finalists, below were my main criteria: 1/ Commercial dense (shops, restaurants, businesses, etc.) 2/ Nice looking metropolitan 3/ Relatively low violent crime (not crime infested eg. Phoenix) 4/ Much areas with housing under 40 years 5/ Nice looking housing (not Oregon or Washington cheap look all wood housing) 6/ Away from the coast, west coast, and major flooding Thanks! moreResolved Question: complaint letter to land lord?
August 10th 2010 Regarding APT. # **** ********* & ********** ******** Denver City Texas Dear Mr. & Mrs. 'landlord': In October of 2009 I notified Mrs. 'landlord' of water slightly seeping in around the grout of the downstairs fire place and surounding tile, that was causing the grouting to come loose in some areas, which I showed to Mrs. 'landlord' outside. ( I showed her some of the peices of grout that had fallen off of the fire place area.) I was told by Mrs. 'landlord' that it shouldnt really be a problem. In June of 2010 I notified Mr. 'landlord' of a suspected roof/wall leak from the same wall but in the upstairs of the unit. This leak is causing damage to the up stairs master bedroom. Mr. 'landlord' came inside and looked at the damp carpets from which water was draining from the wall into the carpet and said he didnt think it was anything that bad. Since then the area on the wall of the bedroom has started growing mold, and also the paint is bubbling from water behind it in some areas on the wall. We have tried to clean the damp area, with lysol type cleaners ( to reduce the mold growth) and use a wet/dry vac to keep it as dry as possible, but the water damage is beyond what "cleaning" can handle. The carpet is growing mold and so is the wall. The mold also started growing on our bed and box spring which was about a foot away from the leaking wall. Everytime it rains the leaking and mold damage becomes worse. We are sending this letter to make sure we are protected when we do move from this unit. We want to make sure it is proven that we have notified you both of the damage caused by non repairs to this unit that we cannot control. We have documented the water leaking and the damage from mold with pictures and videos since Mr. 'landlord' came to see it in June of 2010. Becuase of the above mentioned complaints we have decided to give our notice to move out, and will be vacating the unit on September 30th of 2010. We have even had to seek medical help due to mold related symptoms and our property in that room is damaged from mold spores and actual mold growth, we are not worried about those things and just wish to leave the unit so perhaps it can then be finally repaired. Also we know in our lease that we are supposed to pay for a carpet cleaning services apon our moving out of the unit, but under the circumstances we do not feel we should have to pay to clean water and mold damaged carpets from the roof leaking. We will clean the rest of the unit to the condition it was in when we moved in. If we can work out a way to not be bound to that part of our lease for carpet cleaning we would appreciate that greatly. Sincerely, ***** and ******* ***********just looking for a proof reading or any advice or tips for this letter to our landlord about non repairs and our moving out of the apt. We are a young family with two toddlers. We are on a month to month lease starting at the beginning of this year. We have lived here for almost 2 years on a regular leasing agreement of several months. We have never had any real issues with our landlord. Other than many non repaired complaints on the unit, which we could live with or repair ourselves up until now. ( On a side note, not realted, we did have a verbal agreement with the LL to allow pets even though the lease states otherwise. We have a cat. ) Thanks!I cant believe some of the negative comments, stating that I choose to live in a moldy apt. We live in a town of less than 3000 people, this is the only apt complex, the next nearest town is over an hour away. My husbands job is what keeps our family stuck here. We couldnt just pick up and move. Saying that I am alright with living in this appartment is an assumption that is wrong. We finnacially have our hands tied due to where we live and where we work. Lysol does kill mold and mold spores. I have done my research. Bleach is not an option here ( would have ruined the burgundy carpet and given a smell to the drywall after the fact. ) moreVoting Question: I am a 20 year old male who is currently unemployed, has no high school diploma and is now without a place to?
