BTW This isn't the start, this is an excerpt. Chapter Two: Detective Jessica Jessica and Alfred were walking down Mulberry Street when they felt a strong wind. "What's that?" Alfred wanted to know. Jessica was unsure. "I don't know, but it's coming from over there." She pointed to the old Mulberry house, after which the street had gotten its name. Lord and Lady Mulberry had lived there half a century ago. It was the kind of house one would've expected to see in Galveston at the turn of the century, over 100 years ago. Lord Mulberry had moved to Copperas Cove from his home in Devon with his wife and 10-month-old daughter Mary. At first no one could understand why Lord Mulberry had moved his family from Britain to Texas, but then rumors began circulating about how he was hiding from the English authorities. This wasn't the case, but all the townspeople believed it, so the Mulberrys were shunned by the community and became recluses. About a year after they moved to Copperas Cove, they put an advert in the paper for a maid or servant. Their only requirement was that he or she own a car. Only one person responded to it--Mrs. Hermione Winters, at that time just a young woman. They hired her on the spot. It turned out that the Mulberrys needed to use the car so that Lady Mulberry could go to the market without being seen. Mrs. Winters, who was at that time called Miss Callaghan, had to drive her, because Lady Mulberry had never learned how to drive in England, nor did she have a driver's license. After a year, the Mulberrys let Ms. Callaghan go and moved to somewhere on the East Coast. Hermione was full of horror stories about how Lady Mulberry tried to drown her daughter in a vat of boling oil and of how Lord Callaghan once raped his wife. A few people knew she was making them up, but the majority of Copperas Cove believed her, especially after she told them that the Mulberrys had moved because they had accidentally killed their daughter. The townsfolk believed that the spirit of little Mary still roamed the house, and after the Mulberrys left for the East Coast (leaving the deed in the real estate office on Main Street), no one bought it. The house was still deserted, and no one even went near it, except for people walking down Mulberry Street to reach Edgeworth, which in this case included Jessica and Alfred. Alfred paled. "Are you sure it came from there?" Jessica nodded gravely. "Well, we don't need to check it out, right?" Jessica made a buzzer sound. "Eerp, wrong. We so need to." "Why?" "Because, there might be a clue to the murder there!" "What murder?" "Mrs. Winters's murder. Duh." "She wasn't murdered, she got pancreatic cancer." "Sure. That's what they want you to think. But they're trying to hide it, so that the murderer will think he's in the clear, slip up, and BAM! They've got him!" "It might be a her, you know." "Okay, or her." "Or there may have been no murder at all!" "Come on, Al, why did Mrs. Winters just suddenly die? She didn't even have cancer!" "Well, that we don't know." Jessica gave him a 'come on' glance, and he threw his arms up in the air. "Well, okay, maybe she didn't have cancer. Maybe it was something else." "Don't you give me that crap! You know very well she either had pancreatic cancer or she was bumped off, and she didn't have cancer." "Bumped off! Yeah, like an old lady like her would have any enemies. Besides, my mother works at the coroner's office, and she told me the cause of death was definitely pancreatic cancer." Jessica wouldn't take that. "She wouldn't tell you if the old lady was bumped off because you could blab. Then you would really be in trouble." "Blab!? Trouble?! You're the one that's going to be in trouble if you keep talking about murder, and not because the liquidator wants you dead either. People won't stand for you spreading rumors." "Rumors!-" Alfred cut her off. "Okay, let's say for the sake of argument that she was possibly murdered." "Goody." "IF she was murdered, why would there be clues in the Mulberry house? No one's lived there since 1953." Jessica had to admit he was right. "Okay, fine. You win. But I still think you're a wimp for not wanting to go in." He glared at her. They kept on walking, and he asked her, "Why do you think Mrs. Winters was murdered, anyway?" Jessica told him about the cry she had heard the day of Mrs. Winters' death. "Strange. But it might have been a bird, you know." She sighed. "It was not a bird. I know birds--I used to have one. That wasn't a bird." "You had a bird?" Well? What do you think? moreResolved Question: Well, I was thinking, and I thought of a bunch of questions. How many can you answer?

Why do Americans build in the path of natural disasters? Isn't low lying housing foolish along the Gulf coast? Why are they abandoned?
When flying over the area east of El Paso around Horizon City, TX while in route to Tucson and even on Googlearth, one can see thousands of miles of roads, cal-de-sacs, neighborhoods, streets, parkways and grided streets buldozed into at least 100,000 arces of former ranch and dry scrub land for what appears to be housing and real-estate development. It looks like it someone was planning a mega development of hundreds of thousands of houses, neighborhoods, subdivisions and I'm sure retail, malls and office parks too. But it appears it was all abandoned, deserted and forgotten after the land was surveyed, mapped, graded, with the highways and by-ways were sliced across the landscape. My question is more then one actually. Who built this mega gigantic development? When? Why? And why was it abandoned? Did it happen during the west Texas real-estate boom? Thank you for your assitance. moreResolved Question: what isa good field of study to go into now days.I thought about nursing.or real estate I live in east texas?

I am a 22 year old college student that is attending a small school out in East Texas. I have decided to major in sociology, for my love of social trends and people. I have tried majoring in a vast array of majors, starting from IT, business, premed, education (math teaching), nursing, English, history, CIS, kinesiology, just to name a few. I’ve always heard “do something you love”. Well, I love working with people, learning and hearing about their stories, researching a huge range of topics through different mediums, continuous learning, conversing over all different ideas, a small amount of writing, reading. I’ve been trying to navigate a certain approach to a career that will lead me to a sense of meaning (through the use of helping people and finding internal satisfaction). I’ve never aspired to be wealthy, only well off enough to provide for a small family with under-modest living expenses. I’m an extremely frugal person, and I have to have the logical boundary before I spend something. A close friend of mine suggested law school (she herself a 56 year old real estate attorney). Another friend suggested social work, or maybe counseling. I don’t know which career is right for me. I also don’t understand how to pinpoint a passion/pathway that lead to those characteristics. I work for a restaurant (Chili’s) that I can’t stand. The people aspect of the company is what drives me. I love talking to all the different types of people and helping them with their needs. I just want a better quality of life than that avenue (I don’t particularly enjoy jumping hoops for my boss’s boss, just for the sake of doing so, instead of doing things in for a more efficient outcome). My parents aren’t that great of help. My mother never went to college, and my step father is a coach who has never gone above the bachelor’s level. My real father was a CEO of a computer software company where he integrated systems for the healthcare profession. He died of an aneurysm. Both of them, along with my sister (Who teaches kindergarten) say that I need to stay with Chili’s instead of leading a path of discovery. How do I pick what I want out of my life? The meaning is what I am after, the monetary gains are not that important to me aside from necessities. I want a small home, an old Jeep Wrangler, enough budget to buy books for my person, and enough to provide for one child and my wife. I don’t mind the idea of graduate studies or professional schooling, but I want something that I can find a drive and passion in. So many of the people I run into have notified a passion, and here I am with nothing but good work experience and a liberal arts degree in progress, albeit no real direction. Isn’t speech the very quality that a person has idependant of status and money? In the fusion of democracy and capitalism that currently defines American life, speech is the only freedom left that transcends class, but when you say that money is speech, then you disenfranchize all those without it – surely not an original intent. Don't engage in Kafka-like political framing by using words you know people will associate with liberalism. What you describe is a failing of conservatism, of the Right. Yet the words you chose -- socialism -- make it seem like a sin of the Left. Hector lives in a wooden shack on the outskirts of Juarez, Mexico, four miles from the town of El Paso, Texas. He drives an old, blue and rusty Chevrolet pick-up truck that looks like many other old blue and rusty Chevrolet pick-up trucks in Mexico. You'll see Hector wearing faded blue jeans and a long sleeve blue work shirt. Both are dirty and frayed. His straw hat was once white, but now a dark beige with several sweat-stain hatband rings. Mr. Lopez is a small man, 5'6" in height and weighs 143 pounds. He walks with a slight limp, and holds his hat in one hand when he bows shyly to say "Si Senor". Hector, like many Mexican men, has grown a mustache. We see lots of "Hectors" these days, and we avert our eyes from them because they are, well, poor. One morning Hector drives to a desolate spot overlooking the Rio Grande, River. He walks to the water's edge and looks across the 70 foot wide stream, enters the river and dog-paddles across with the end of a rope in his mouth. Standing on a Texas rancher's soil, and with no one in sight for miles, Hector pulls the rope which is wrapped-around a 55 gallon drum and easily pulls the floating barrel over to him. He removes the lid and dumps a 3 foot tall, 88 pound metal object into the sandy soil at his feet. Using his bare hands, Hector covers the object, then swims back to the Mexican side of the river, pulling the empty barrel back with him. He discards the empty drum in an old abandoned tar paper plant junk yard, and drives to the Avenue of the Americas. Hector shows the border guard his Matricula Consular ID card, speaks a few words in Spanish to his fellow Mexican, and drives into the City of El Paso. Hector eases the old Chevy up Airway Boulevard, turns East on Montana, and after several miles, turns south on Ranch Road and down to the Rio Grande, River. He stops hear the spot where he stood an hour earlier, uncovers the object, and places it on the front passenger seat of his truck. Hector proceeds to drive up Ranch Road, headed for the United States Army Post of Fort Bliss. The "object" Hector has next to him on the front seat is a 2 kiloton Russian nuclear warhead, stolen (along with 2 others) by a former Russian rocket-army colonel following the break-up of the Soviet Union. This particular nuclear device was purchased for 50 million Saudi-Arabia oil dollars, sent to Mexico by cargo freighter, and off-loaded to a barren Mexican shoreline onboard a rubber Zodiac boat. Hector's real name is Mohammed Saad, a Jordanian born former Fedayheen soldier who killed 67 Israeli's in the Gaza over a period of 18 months. "Mohammed" earned his undergraduate degree in engineering from Purdue University in Indiana. He speaks 4 languages fluently, including Spanish, and learned and adopted the shy mannerisms of a "peon". He is a clever, bloodthirsty killer. "Hector" (Mohammed) obtained his Matricula Consular card for twenty five dollars and a forged Catholic Baptismal Certificate. He could use his Consular card to get an American driver's license in 16 states. Hector "hung out" in Juarez for 3 weeks, observing, learning mannerisms and "quirks" of the poor Mexican people while he awaited the arrival of his bomb on a Cessna 172 single engine airplane that delivered it on a dirt road close to his shack. The bomb was, like him, offloaded from an Iberian registered freighter somewhere between Texas and the Yucatan Penninsula. Hector's "contact" is an old friend named Bakari Salihan, who lives extremely well and dresses impeccably as a commercial real-estate developer in El Paso, Texas. They communicate via small notices in the Catholic section of the newspaper. Bakari is head of a new Islamic mosque in El Paso, and gets plenty of cash from The Muslim Brotherhood to front his efforts for "Allah". Keep an eye out for Hector and Bakari. They are here. http://www.focalpointusa.org/meethectorlopez.html moreResolved Question: Isn't this sad??? Another AVOIDABLE death!!!?

Kelly Bergen, 25, of Monte Vista, Colo. was killed when her Ford Focus was hit from behind by a potato truck driven by Oscar Martinez-Cruz, 27, of Monte Vista and then pushed into another potato truck being towed by a tractor. Martinez-Cruz was arrested and charged with careless driving causing death, driving a motor vehicle without a valid operator’s license and failure to present evidence of insurance. The operator of the second potato truck, Miguel Ramirez, 54, of Greeley, Colo. and the driver of the tractor, Bernardo Garcia, 55, of Hereford, Texas have not been charged in the accident. Martinez-Cruz is currently being held at the Alamosa County Detention Center on charges related to the accident. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Special Agent-in-Charge Ed Tolbert of the Alamosa ICE office, confirmed Wednesday that Martinez-Cruz is an undocumented Mexican national working in the U.S. illegally and the agency has placed a detainer hold on him. Colorado State Patrol Trooper Travis S. DePriest investigated the accident that happened around 7 p.m. Tuesday on County Lane 5 North, about one-tenth of a mile east of Alamosa County Road 102 South. According to the trooper’s report, all four vehicles were westbound on County Lane 5 North with Bergen’s Ford behind Ramirez’s potato truck that was being towed by the tractor driven by Garcia. As Bergen’s car approached the truck and tractor it was hit from behind by the truck driven by Martinez-Cruz and pushed 106 feet, rotating clockwise in front of Martinez-Cruz’s truck. Both the car and truck then slammed into the rear of the truck being towed and pushing it into the rear of the tractor. The tractor left the right side of the roadway and struck a power pole and came to rest in a field facing northwest. Bergen’s car came to rest in the westbound lane of County Lane 5 North, facing north and still attached to the front of potato truck driven by Martinez-Cruz. moreResolved Question: Cant argue with facts?
