Open Question: Teens: What should I do about this?

My grandparents are split up, grandfather lives in Texas and grandmother in Tennessee. Both of them know how stressful it is for me at home right now with the past few months events. My grandfather has offered to buy me a plane ticket to Tennessee to stay with my grandmother for an undetermined amount of time. Problem is, I am still in academy and don't graduate till May 6th. Even after then I am still in explorers, meetings every other week, I have HUGE events in June and July as well as a BBQ and all this other stuff. I only have 9 more months in this program and I didn't get to work these events last year because I joined right before them. This is my ONLY chance to work these events. There is a 3-day weekend long event and then the 4th of July. I can't miss these events but I also don't want to turn down getting to visit my grandmother. I know you are all probably going to say go stay with your grandmother but theres something about NEVER getting to work the big events that bothers me, after all the time and massive amounts of money that have been put into this program, I should get to work the huge events at least once. What should I do?August is my 21st birthday. I don't think my grandmother is into jello shots. more

just wondering i can't find anything on the park rules page or must have missed it, theres cops and lot of kids but ive seen lots of ppl with their shirt off but i want to ask first b4 i get in trouble for no reason bc right here in texas gets really hot and those long lines make ur clothes completely wet with sweat and its really uncomfortable to walk around and wait for the wind to dry up haha. Open Question: Trying to find minor for Bachelors degree?

Hello, I have an associates degree in Computer Animation (Modeling), but since I didn't want to travel that much I am finishing a bachelors degree in New Media Arts at the school that is closest to my house. The school I am attending does not teach Computer Animation so I feel that I am falling behind w/ modeling. I planned on going to another school for summer to take animation classes, but my school is offering me full scholarship to stay there for summer. I have many many credits after redoing credits that didn't transfer and changing my degree plan that just sit there and do nothing for me. Texas schools penalize you for this and can deny the student with excess credits financial aid and make them pay a higher tuition. The reason I am in school is to get out of the dead end minimum wage jobs I have had my whole life, so I need to get a degree that will get me a job. I don't know what to minor in. I started as a Computer Science major and can build computers but I switched to a more creative field, first graphic design, then animation. I used to be a musician and miss it so I really think of doing a minor in Audio Engineering as I have taken audio and midi classes before. The third option would be web-design. I have built my own web-sites but I have no knowledge of programming yet. I wish I could do all of these, but alas I am not a super-genius and can't. I need the talent and degree to get money after school and to finally have a job that I like for once. Does anyone have any personal experience in these fields that they can relay to me? Open Question: Do Totalitarian Regimes fulfil citizens requirements ever?

Does Bullying show a symptomatic denial of freedom the very essence of Christianity? If the Seven Mortal Sins were the basis for most totalitarian regimes like Australia would it matter? Does Sloth, the very government inaction on incompetant policy reveal more than just ignorance, like gambling prostitution and vice and if so would the Australia Sex Party have any dent into Australian Labor Party as it stands, and if so what would be the basis, for a party that believes in the inevitable what constitutes a payment or a bribe in real terms of value where the lines are blurred between immorality and the Australian Electoral Act forbidding payment? What constitutes a hobbiest and a professional, dont ask professional what or the family nature of yahoo just became X rated, like as in I dont give a proverbial? Why is Australian Labor Party Totalitarian? Basically it fears participation. Most Australians have not worked under Labor. Given we are a world economy and we are top of the class that failed, I feel like a horse thats been rode hard and put away wet as McCloud used to say from Texas. Basically my dad was less flattering? Like the little boy who wet the bed and blamed it on the balster? You even kinda expect ALP to say was it good for you bye way of exampled only because their view and their form of government is not just inappropriate but totally unacceptable? You can not ride rough shod over people transfering blame and expecting to be respected when all responsiblity is missing! Basically Australian's all let use unite is something we have forgotten how to do for a really long time? I tried to figure out why, for example, why ALP would betray not just in the short term but their absolute disdain not just for their support base but their basic policy. ALP have completely destroyed any realistic expectation to be either taken seriously when not just social justice but the very basics of not wanting to be seen in the pocket of really big business is so disgustingly hypocritical? It just seems like Australian Labor Party have completely abandoned any critical common sense reasoning or even intellectual faculty of the mind to even want to remain in power at the expense of really "Heavy" Chinese war lords raging madness upon the intelligencia, did someone say communism doesnt work here or is it just an error of judgment that Aussies have fought for freedom and the real Australia Day ANZAC Day we share with our Kiwi Cousins for want of too many foreignors free loading myself included? IF I DONT LIKE IT HERE? I do, isnt Australia an incredible place and hasnt it been ruined? If you truly love Australia why would YOU too stomach ANYONE RUINING IT? If they really wanted to, would they be allowed to? Sometimes Texans boast about how great their state is and how they want to secede ... and then people from other parts of the country will jokingly say "sure, go ahead, we won't miss you" ... and I agree, let them go if they want, because if anything they're a hindrance to progress in this country and their recent education standards review with the removal of Thomas Jefferson from their educational material (because many documents suggest he advocated for separation of church and state) is truly a slap in the face to the majority of Americans. i dated a guy this summer, and blah blah blah you 'can't fallin love as a teen' i don't belive that bullshit. but he broke up with mea few weeks before school, saying he couldn't deal with the drama and that we would be going to different schools. he said he wanted me to try again later, but i hated him so much. i slapped him and walked away. he told me he loved me right after we broke up. lik 5 minutes after. and i slapped him, then went to talk to my friends. but we started talking again, and i relized how much i missed him. i can tell it really is true love. we are ment for each other... and we both know it. now. a little to late. he moved to texas, but i miss him so much everyday. when i kiss and etc with guys, i compare them to him. none are as good. when i hook up with a guy, they all remind me of him. Open Question: Family problems, let me know what you think?

My sister recently moved to Texas she is living with my aunt until my parents move, she begged me to come visit her she missed my kids and she really wanted to see them. I wasn't going to go at first b/c we were kinda low on income and it was going to put a little stress on us, but I don't see them as much so my husband and I decided to go ahead and just go I went by self I drove there its about 7hr ride .. long story short everything was good until Sunday night that we were outside my sis and cousin were together all day since my cousin got off work early. She and my sis walked to the trampoline one of my daughters who is 7 followed them and tried to get on it too as she was getting on my sis yelled no no and started jumping hard kinda making her fall off... it really upset me, I honestly couldn't believe it. Something similar happened before when she still lived with my parents.. as soon as my cousin arrived she did not want the kids around and it ended with her calling me a horrible mom she is lucky she didn't have a mom like me. I got over it but now, my daughter could have been hurt... I drove 7hrs for her to see my kids I just feel like crying all the time. last time it happened I decided not to go back to visit my parents and I haven't been for 1 year know I don't want to go to TX I don't know I just want to vent let me know your opinion more

Open Question: Compassionate Reassignment for Army?

My DH and I have been married for about a year now and he is stationed OCONUS in Alaska and I am in Texas. I was previously married and have 2 children by my ex-husband. We have gone to court numerous times to try and get a move approved. We mediated and my ex said he consented to the move so we scheduled the HHG, quit my job, sold my house and bought plane tickets. A week before the move he pulled out and had a judge approve the stop. We are now stuck in Texas and the judge is saying Alaska is too far for the kids to go. DH has until April 2011 for the next PCS and we were wondering if we could try for a compassionate reassignment. The judge has already said if he were anywhere in the lower 48 he would more than likely approve it. Problem being besides we want to be together, we are paying for 2 households and the kids are really missing their step-father. Does anybody think we could do this? more

Voting Question: What's wrong with Israel building in East Jerusalem?

I saw on the news that the Vice President was upset with Israel for announcing that they were building more buildings in East Jerusalem. I see this as no different than the United States having a border dispute with Mexico and the United States announcing that it was going to building more apartments in the southern part of Texas. From what I know, this part of Jerusalem is understood to belong to Israel. Am I missing something here? I know there are some smart people out there who truly understand this issue. In reading the news, nobody seems to be clearly stating why this is a problem, only that politically it's a problem. more

Okay so i'm 13. I moved over the summer and i've been quite sad and all since i was kinda away from my close friends since grade school. And and i went to my new school early on i never felt like going to school really until now. i'm failing school now and one reason is cause the grading system they do there and 2ndly i OBVIOUSLY miss my friends (but good thing is that i still see them) and at home, I don't have a good relashinship with my mom b.c shes insanely CYCO! when she wants me to do something she'll yell at me to get it done, so i dont do it cuz shes yelling at me which makes me mad. & my little brother, ugh, when he crys and hes near me my mom will think i did something to make him cry! and when im telling the truth she'll yell down at me saying "stop making him cry blah blah blah, " WTF. My life would be better off without her. i think about that every single DAYYYYY! Also, I've been talking to my veryyyyyy close guy friend and he knew my friends but moved to texas before we could actually met eachother in 6th gr >__> so i`ve been talking to him since last may and we started to like eachother. but we only talk online cause i dont have a darn phone! (stupid mom) and this week, we BARLEY talked cause of me...im super "depressed" cause i don't wanna talk to anyone. and so it makes me feel like he doesnt like me anymore. I met this guy like two months ago... He passed out over my house because he was messed up on pills... Well the next day he didn't remember me that much.. But we hung out.. Resolved Question: What are the best tomatoes to use for diced tomatoes on a salad?

I've recently moved to a small town in Minnesota from VA's Hampton Roads area and one of the things that I miss from home are the delicious salads from different restaurants. I've made TGI Friday's Pecan Crusted Chicken Salad and Strawberry Fields, Bonefish Grill's house salad, and Olive Garden's house salad. This week I'm really feeling Texas Roadhouse's house salad (I miss their ranch dressing too!) TR's house salad (if you're not familiar) consists of: Romaine or lettuce with shredded carrots mix, diced egg, shredded cheddar, and diced tomatoes with buttermilk ranch dressing. The problem I've had in my search for diced tomatoes is that I can never tell which tomatoes to use. Whenever I get vine-ripened tomatoes they taste "earthy" (like dirt.) and I can never get that fresh clean tomato-y taste that you get from larger tomatoes. I've tried using roma tomatoes before, but they don't seem quite right. Any suggestions?( I live in Winona, I've been here for about 7 months) more

Resolved Question: Isnt there some kind of grace period on late payments with any kind of financed property?

IN TEXAS..... i financed a car from a "in house financing" used car dealership for $1000 down and i missed the first payment, which, first of all, was $400, and was due only 14 days after i just paid $1000 (i didnt miss the payment because of irresponsibility, but simply because my grandmother ended up in the hospital and diagnosed with cancer[and i know thats not the dealerships problem]), but it was only a few days late and **they came a took it from an address that they had NO information on, within only 2 hours of me being there(so i think[KNOW] that they had a trackin device on it[and i wasnt informed, or didnt know anything about a tracking device] because there is no such thing as a coincidence being that coincidental, where they end up being in there tow truck, and driving down the same street that im parked on, which is NOWHERE near my house, not even in the same city, and finding the vehicle, which was parked in a driveway of the persons house) So i only had the vehicle for like 3 weeks after paying $1000. And i also put new door speakers because the ones that were in it were blown, they told me it had just gotten an oil change, but not even a week after i got it i had to change the oil and put some aluminum/metal sealant in the radiator because they put the wrong oil in it and it caused engine parts to rub dry(metal to metal) upon first cranking it until the oil got circulated to them, also i found out that both of the front blinker bulbs were burnt out so i replaced those. So does anybody know any, all of, the rights that i have related to any of this? I've noticed that my daughter isn't acting like herself. She's 12, and she hasn't has her period yet. She might get it at 14. Anyway, She's told me she's always feeling tired, and I've noticed her eye bags increasing in size. She always looks down when she walks, and her face shows that she's always feeling sad. She doesn't cut herself though. She cries for no reason at all. She told me she feels like there's something missing in her life, and she can't pinpoint it. One night, she was so down I caught her trying to suicide by using the rope in the garage to make a noose. I tried to comfort her and help her every way I can, and give her things she usually gets very excited about. Now, she gets more blue. She has also mentioned that she wants to go home to Texas. Can it be that she's homesick?I forgot to add that she loses interest in everything and seems to find everyone against her.She also seems to be losing a lot of hair... Ok. Last year, I went to court for truancy. I went during April and they granted me a "stay" or something like that, basically saying that I wouldn't miss anymore days of school and I would get a second chance. Resolved Question: How to deal with my terminal ill grandmother who is continually making extremely rude and hurtful remarks?

My 75 year old grandmother is suffering from lung and bone cancer, therefore I am finding it hard to be combative with her and stand up to her when she is completely out of line and being incredibly hurtful and rude. We have never had a great relationship because she has always been this way towards me. A specific example would be when I was 12 years old my parents mentioned that my new exercise machine had broken (because it was put together wrong) and the comment that flys out of her mouth was "Because KRISTAN got on it" (I was an overweight child but certainly not heavy enough to make an elliptical collapse !) There are many more snide remarks where that came from ! Anyways, I have a 10 month old daughter who is interracial - and my grandmother has referred to her as a "spic" insisted that she has "black hair like a mexican" even though she actually has brown hair like me .. She also has said "Is Ava going to call Billy (my dad, her son) Daddy" What kind of question is that. My daughter has a father and unfortunately he isnt able to really be active in her life since I am not able to move to Texas and he can only afford to visit her on special occasions, since my daughter has a medical condition that requires her to be a part of a drug trial here in Canada, which is not available in Texas. I just found her completely ignoring the fact that my daughter HAS a father, rude, because due to the fact that she is quite racist, I felt as though she was not acknowleding his existance as her father because he is hispanic. As I mentioned, my daughter has a medical condition, it has caused her to have a facial deformity which at one time was very severe, but thanks to her medication, she appears almost normal. In the past, my grandma made several comments about it "being a shame that my baby was ugly" and other comments about her condition. Those comments were incredibly hurtful. My daughter is certainly not ugly, and is featured on posh little tutus, miss priss tutus, and several other websites as a model since her face has improved so much, and yet my grandmother will sill refer to her as being unattractive. Most recently my grandmother asked me if chasing after Ava had 'worn all of that fat off of me yet' That was the straw that broke the camels back for me ! I feel that I am DONE. I almost felt the need to point out that before she was cancer striken, she was tipping the scales at over 200 lbs and that both of her daughters have the same build as me, only they happen to weigh over 200 lbs, which I do not. She has never made comments about THEIR WEIGHT. Just mine. Anyways ... I don't know how to handle any interactions with her in the future. Frankly, I don't want to be around her, and I certainly do not want my child around her any more, but I do not want to be combative or confront her over the things she has said, simply because she is ill and I do not want to upset her. Should I just avoid visiting her at all costs, make up excuses to get out of family functions ? I am afraid that another snide remark about my child will cause me to snap, especially since she often says these things in front of others, and that fact just further angers me and embarasses me. My daughters first birthday party is coming up, how do I avoid inviting her to this event ? She will want to come since it is her only great grandchild, and she is going to die soon. Another problem I have is that on occasions that are supposed to revolve around other people, she turns them into being about HER and her condition, and brings down the mood for everyone. At my babyshower, all of my friends were regailed with her stories of chemotherapy and her showing off her chemo port to them, the event was supposed to be about me and a happy, light hearted event. I do not want my daughters first birthday turning into a huge discussion on cancer, as rude as that may sound. I want to enjoy this moment with my daughter and all of my guests.I should probably point out she has only been ill for 1.5 years and she has been saying hurtful and rude comments to me since I was a child.I also noticed upon re-reading my question, that I didn't mention the fact that I am MARRIED to my daughters father, so the fact that she was completely overlooking his existance was that much more offensive. To clarify we are happily married, but not able to see eachother often because we spent approximately 1,000 a month on our childs medical treatment alone, and are apart because we wanted the best for our daughter, which was the drug treatment that was offered in Canada, where I am originally from. more

I have a child with a woman that I had a one night stand with. He is now 3 1/2 years old. She is the primary parent but he is at my house just as much or more than he is at hers. I am married now and have a 10 month old son with my wife. Baby mama is single still and runs the bars all the time when she is off of work. My son is either at my house for the weekends or at her fathers house. He has been had a bad cough for several months and his mother has not taken him to the Dr. He has gave my youngest son a virus twice from him constantly being sick. Every time he comes to my house he has on clothes that are inappropriate for the weather. Not to mention, his clothes are either several sizes too small for him (came over the other day wearing 18month shorts) or several sizes too big for him with safety pins to hold up his waist and the bottom 6 inches rolled up. They are all from garage sells and goodwill and have stains and are wore out. He always smells like he hasnt had a bath since the last time he was at my house. His teeth are always covered with yellow plaque when he comes over. I am the one who always takes him to Dr appointments. I am the one who always takes him to get his haircut. Me or baby mamas father have bought all his shoes except for one pair his whole life. The ones he has now smell up my whole house but she is waiting for me to buy him another pair. I feel like I have to take care of my son and her by having to remind her of different things she need to do for him. She missed his 6 month checkup when he was a baby and lied to me about taking him. I took him to the Dr. when he was 10months old because he was sick and asked if he was up to date on his shots and the nurse told me he hasnt had his 6 month or 9 month yet. I know money is not an issue because I pay her close to $1000 a month. She also has a $35k a year job and has no rent or car note. She lives in a trailer that her mother left for her when she committed suicide while my son and baby mama were asleep in the other room. She was his primary babysitter that my baby mama used while she was working. She gets her hair done atleast every 2 weeks. She tans at a salon almost every day. Her nails are always done. I live in Texas. What are the chance of me getting custody of my child. Upon coming out the front door it is a enclosed space to the left is a gate to the right is a sidewalk leading to the Parking lot . 1: After problems started occurring with the maintenance man He nailed our gate shut because we went back there to BBQ and play with the neighbors dogs . Is this a safety hazard nailing our gate shut ? It would only leave one exit and if the fire blocked that exit we would be screwed . 2: Also There is a half cement half dirt ditch behind the building on its property I never knew what it was for bit now I have discovered the pump sewage into it and it drains into a pipe that leads off the property. if this any kind of violation or safety hazard? 3: Most of our windows do not open 4: the front windows have bars on them , Our Apartment is the only one I didn't know why at first the windows where open when we rented it it was being "Aired out" But actually our windows are installed crooked and don't close . 5: The foundation under our apartment is damaged and it leans drastically towards one corner. Sandra Zamora Zayas, the attorney who represented Alvarez in federal court in South Texas, did not return phone messages. According to the Texas Penal Code, you can be charged with disorderly conduct if you do any of these in a public place: 1. Use “abusive, indecent, profane, or vulgar language,” of the kind likely to provoke a physical altercation. These are known legally as “fighting words.” 2. Make an obscene gesture that is likely to start a physical altercation. 3. Use chemicals to make a “noxious and unreasonable odor.” 4. Verbally abuse or threaten another person “in an obviously offensive manner.” 5. Make an “unreasonable noise” in a public place or near a private residence that’s not your own. The law defines “unreasonable” as making a sound that is more than 85 decibel levels after being warned once by a police officer. Remember, this a state law, separate from any local noise ordinances. 6. Get into a fight with another person. 7. Fire a gun, or display a gun with the intention to scare other people. 8. Expose your genitals or anus in a “reckless” manner that disregards anyone else who might see you and be offended. 9. I let him manipulate me into thinking this was just something he was doing for fun and that he missed me a lot so he just wanted to fool around and touch me a little.This was all just a moment of consolation. So he wanted to remove my pants and rub down my legs...so.. it was a little uncomfortable but i didn't think it was a big deal. As long as i kept everything else on, it was okay to me (i thought for some stupid reason). Now i'm turned side ways not paying attention to what he was doing behind me. He was just supposed to be massaging my legs. His pants are now kind of sagging down and his belt unbuckled like he intended on removing his pants also...That's when these cops come, and bang on the window saying "Alright come on, step out of the car now and don't try to hide anything" So my ex immediately opens the door and gets out so the officer wouldn't think we were trying to hide something. I put my pants and shoes back on, while the officer yanks him out of the car with his pants sagging down a little with his belt unbuckeld. The officer also saw me in my underwear (which looked very suspicious). He charges us with disorderly conduct according to NUMBER 8 of that list above. Which meant that were exposing ourselves recklessly (like mooning) not caring who saw us. Which wasn't true. The officer had to spend like 20 minutes contemplating what he could charge us with. He didn't witness any gentitals or anyone's anus. Where we were parked, you could tell that were not trying to "expose" anything to offend someone. Even if the officer had suspicion, he didn't have suscipcion that were EXPOSING OURSELVES IN A RECKLESS MANNER.We should have just recieved some warning and a call to our parents, but not a ticket that goes up to a $500 fine. What were doing might had been PDA, but there is no law for that in texas. So these are the main points: Secluded area, no sexual intent(just PDA) reclined seats, tinted windows....
