Paris Texas Questions asked
Resolved Question: Why do american restaurants have such big portions?
I have always wondered about this. Whenever I go to a restaurant in America whether it is pittsburgh, new york, california, or texas, the portions are ridiculously big even when you only pay $6-$10 whether it is a burger and fries, a pizza, or even chinese food although the biggest portions I have seen are burritos or anything from a mexican restaurant. You normally can never finish the portions they serve you and it takes two or sometimes three meals to finish the food they serve you. But when you go to london, paris, barcelona, madrid, or nice or many european cities, the portions at restaurants generally(where you can get a meal for 5 euros or a similar price to something in america that is $6-$10 for similar items) are much smaller. As a matter of fact, you never feel full after a meal and you need to get a small snack afterwards such as a croissant or a mousse de chocolate..and even these desserts are really small too.even in china or india, the portions are really small like they are in europe although the prices of food are much lower since cost of living out there is much cheaper than it is in the west moreResolved Question: Do we have illegal aliens to thank for reintroducing bedbugs to the U.S.?
Bedbugs Aren't Just Back, They're Spreading by NPR Staff August 21, 2010 A bedbug enjoys the the ectoparasitic life. August 21, 2010 Bedbugs are spreading. At first, they appeared in places that you might expect: dense city centers such as New York, where officials may seek a bed bug czar, and San Francisco, which is trying landlord-education programs to keep the pests away. But now, there are reports of bedbug infestations in homes and hotels from Ohio to Texas. The stories are downright creepy. Exterminator James Self, who owns Ameritex Pest Control in Beaumont, Texas, says he was called out to one bedbug-riddled site that was like a scene from a horror movie. "There were spots all over the walls, and I didn't know what that was," Self recalls. "I thought maybe it was some wallpaper decoration or something. But as I approached it, it was totally covered in bedbugs — more than I've ever seen. And that's the one where we had to rip up the carpet, throw away all the furniture. It was terrible." 'You Should Be Worried' This business of feeding on other people... I think we all know some people like that do that, don’t we now? ...Maybe bedbugs aren’t so awfully different than somebody we know. - Michael Raupp Infestations like that are popping up across the country at an alarming frequency. "You should be worried — very, very, very worried," says Michael Raupp, an entomologist at the University of Maryland who spoke with NPR's Audie Cornish about the bedbug resurgence. Raupp runs a website called "Bug of the Week," and this week's star is — you guessed it — the bedbug. "They're really not just for bedrooms anymore," he warns. "They really have become widespread almost in any kind of establishment where people live and sleep, throughout both small and large cities." Raupp says bedbugs go where the food is. And for these critters, the "food" is sleeping human beings. "The problem is, as people go about their daily act of going to an office or going to a movie theater, for that matter, the probability that they are going to bring bedbugs with them increases," he says. "As people move about," Raupp says, "they are unwittingly bringing bedbugs with them." There was a time in American history when bedbugs were just accepted as a part of life, he notes. "Prior to the First World War, prior to the DDT era and the time of our synthetic/organic pesticides, bedbugs were commonplace," Raupp says. "That old rhyme, 'Goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the bedbugs bite,' harkens to the colonial era in the U.S., when bedbugs were commonplace in taverns and inns." It seems they could achieve that same ubiquity in the U.S. once again. Borderless Bugs "We're now in the era where people travel everywhere," Raupp says. "They just don't go to major cities like London or Paris. We have people going to second world countries and third world countries where, frankly, bedbugs are commonplace. And these guys are real troopers — they're hitchhikers and stowaways." "Whenever we travel, there's always a possibility that we can bring bedbugs home with us," Raupp says. "And bedbugs don't discriminate. This is not a matter of poor sanitation or poor housekeeping or uncleanliness." So how do people know if they've got a bedbug infestation? Raupp says your skin can tell you. "One of the first symptoms that you'll see of a bedbug infestation is unusual bites," Raupp says. "And these bites aren't going to be on your ankles, where the mosquitoes usually bite you, or on your arms. These bites could be on your neck, they could be on your shoulders, they could be down on your legs somewhere. They could be anywhere on your body. "These are gonna be small, itchy red welts — unusual bites," he adds, noting that people should call in professionals if they see these warning signs. "This is not one that you're going to want to tackle yourself," Raupp says. In spite of the distress bedbugs bring, Raupp says he's still a fan. "I find all bugs mysterious, wonderful. These ones I tend to find a little bit despicable. But they're fascinating in their own regard. "This business of feeding on other people — the ectoparasitic life — I think we all know some people that do that, don't we now? And maybe bedbugs aren't so awfully different than somebody we know," he says. "So, there's a little bit of us in them, perhaps."We can already thank illegals for Multi-drug-resistant-Tuberculosis, Whooping cough, Leprosy, and many other long lost diseases! How many ways can they find to make us as third world as they are!?!?@George L, Yes, they have leper colonies in Arizona. Lepers that crossed illegally in from Mexico. The colonies are there to try to keep Leprocy from spreading. moreResolved Question: There's no American accent/British accent/Spanish accent, etc?
I thought, and have always used 'British accent' as a general term for all the accents in the UK (Britain/England/Disneyland, w/e you wanna call it), just like others would use the term 'American accent' for a general term for all the accents in North-America. I've seen it several times, that a British person gets all asdfghjk'd 'cause I used the term 'British accent', while someone from Spain or France wouldn't say something like 'Mon dieu! This isn't a French accent that I'm speaking with, it's a Paris one' or, 'Ay dios mio! I'm not speaking with a Spanish accent, it's a Madrid one.'...and I have yet to hear an American say something like 'Dude, there ain't such thing as an American accent, I'm speaking with a Texas accent..'' Soooo 8D, is this just an anti-American thing, or can it really not be used as a term for all the accents in Britain? Could someone please shed some light on this, thanks in advance.Sorry if I sounded harsh, lol.I would say 'British accent' to someone from Northern-Ireland. Saying Irish accent to someone from there, would feel more wrong than saying British accent, lol. moreResolved Question: Why do Marxists always blame someone else?
Karl Marx kicked off the blame game by blasting the communards of the Paris Commune because they didn't seize the banks in Paris, leading to their demise. Stalin blamed "counterrevolutionaries and Zionist Jews" for the shortcomings of the USSR. Mao blamed old school thinkers and then launched what he called the "100 Flowers" campain. Then he executed everyone who had ideas he didn't like. Pol Pot executed everyone except for children under 5, because he thought they were not tainted. Castro always blames the CIA. What is it with Marxists that its always someone elses fault when the economy tanks? I hear the Obama is in Texas right now, blaming Bush for everything. They just never seem to understand that it is their own economic policies that cause the disaster. moreResolved Question: where can i get a rabbit in paris texas?

On Feb. 19, 1999, Jeff Lewbowski, Bruce Silverman, Bernie Goldman and I met at a bar in Austin Texas after a Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys Concert and planned the whole thing. Bruce Silveman bankrolled the operation as he had money from his job as night manager at Kinkos. Bernie Goldman and Jeff Lewbowski quit their jobs at Taco Bell and flew to Paris with one way tickets the two weeks later. This information will be easily verifiable from employment records at Kinkos and Taco Bell as well as by Kinky Friendman's concert schedule. I am a very nice person but there are things that makes me angry, my family. It's not the whole family it's just mainly my ma and her twin. They say things that should hurt me but it makes me pissed off. Today they said I was vulnerable. Come on now, Me being VULNERABLE, I think not. I am planning to leave my family when I get 17 or 18 and move either to the city(Atlanta), California, Texas or Paris. I really feel as if I don't want to be apart of this family if I'm going to constantly be called things that aren't true about me. They put me down saying that I will never be nothing or become nothing. The thing about it is that I don't let it get to me, I let it be a guidance towards my success in becoming a basketball player, lawyer, model, actress, dancer, paleontologist, boxer, poet, writer, and crime investigator. Lately, I've been feeling like crap because what they say is starting to get to me. I would love to know, what are some procedures that I can take in order for me to NOT loose my temper and prove them wrong. moreResolved Question: Who are the best lovers?
I always wondered which nationalities make the best lovers. They used to say Paris is for lovers and italians are good lovers so make love to an Italian in paris. But i always wondered - naturally I cannot try every nationality but I have always wondered about Mexicans; someone from Texas; what about Germans and the Swiss? what about a Norwegian. I can't imagine making love in Lapland for example far too cold or in a jungle/rain forest, too sweaty or in the desert too hot to bother. So the best lovers must be from the temperate climates? moreResolved Question: WHAT IS THE BEST ART SCHOOL?
I am going to study to be a fashion photographer (probably high fashion). I would really like to go to a big city for school (to get out of Texas!) preferrably somewhere out of the US but i am very open to staying in the US as long as it is somewhere up north. Are there any good schools in Paris or London I should check out? I know it's probably impossible but I would really like to go somewhere that isn't TOO expensive (which I hear London it) but to make it big I feel like I need to go somewhere big. Any suggestions? moreResolved Question: Anyone know about film Paris Texas about man learning guitar to disabled children?

Hi, I was just sitting here wondering how many people would actually consider naming their child after a place or even country. My own mums name is Roma after the city of Rome but it is a popular girls name in Italy and we are Italian. I have compiled a list of legitimately used names that are also places or country's. Would you use any or do you think the whole thing is overdone? Paris - means from Paris Rome means from Rome London - means the great river America - means home ruler Alexandria - means defending men Venice - means english name for italian city Ennis - means Island Eire - means Ireland Colorado - means colourful Sydney - means Contraction Of St. Denys Holland - means ridge land Melbourne - means mill stream Alabama - means uncertain India - means person from India Cuba - means name of contry centre of an island Japan - means to mutter a prayer Texas - means friends Nevada - means snow covered Brooklyn - means new york borough Cairo - means victorious one Atlanta - means balance I would personally use Roma for the reasons stated above and Alexandria and Ennis because I think their pretty. moreVoting Question: What is your culture?
What is your culture? I'm an American teenager living in Texas at the moment. I currently live in a suburb dependent on cars and big box stores. I hope to move to the Northeast as soon as possible as I am a fan of public transportation, light rail, dense urban cities, bicycling, historic American architecture, and new urbanism. The most common foods I eat at the moment are Tex-Mex, Italian, and BBQ. My first language is English and I am learning Spanish. I like mom & pop stores/restaurants, farmers markets, and street food. Whenever I am in a city well known for a particular type of cuisine, I always try and sample some of it (no McDonald's for me in Paris lol). I am neither democratic nor republican because neither convinces me to fully support their ideals. I have a 'standard' American accent though I have picked up many Texan pronunciations of words and occasionally use the phrases and words like "y'all". I love American history and am quite patriotic to a certain point (I'm not blindly nationalistic and I do try and understand different cultures/politics). I respect the arts a lot -- music, art work, literature, cinema/theater productions, etc. My favorite types of music are Alternative, Indie, and Electronic Dance Music. I also like current music from countries all around the world (particularly Mexico, Japan, South Korea, and many European countries). I love technology and I support the endeavors of American inventors/scientists. I'm a pro natalist. I like to get involved in the community by volunteering in trash cleanups, festivals, parades, retirement home visits, food bank work, etc. I recycling every recyclable thing I can get my hands on. moreResolved Question: Why ,in this day and time, is something like this still happening?
Turner industries in paris texas seems to be a rotten racist employer ! Whites are encouraged to target blacks and if they don't do so ,they would be targeted by other whites . They have racist graffiti and hangman ropes in the plant . The EEOC found enough information to warrant a law suite for discrimination .It has been said that east texas is as bad as Mississippi was 50 years ago . Turner Industry claims it has found no discrimination at their paris texas plant .Why would anyone do such a thing on their job ? I thought America had moved on from this type of racism .Everybody is trying to make a living and take care of their families .You would think that they wouldn't have time for this type of behavior .In 2010 racism seem to have a life of its own in East Texas !HEY! midnight ! there are no rose colored glasses .It is personal experience .I worked on a job where there was a lot of bigots but when they retired the out right bigotry stopped for the next 20 years. I am retired and I don't spend a lot of time in mixed company . I guess it could have been wishful thinking on my part .NO ROSE COLORED GLASSES, EVER!I know about the discrimination that you are talking about . But I am talking about the kind of racism on the job.Type in ( trouble at TURNER INDUSTRIES racism in paris tx.) and you will see what I mean . It is worst than all of the other forms discriminations that you talk about . I know that bigotry is still here in America in other places .You would think, that with the EEOC and affirmative action that corporations would be smart enough to keep this kind of racism at a minimum .UPYOURsTOO! it seems that no one here thinks that there is anything wrong with racism .After all where would conservatives be without IT ? moreResolved Question: Can you text internationally from a prepaid UK phone?
I'm going to London for a month in July and would like to have a phone while there. I don't talk on the phone much, and if I did I'd use Skype, but I still would like to have a phone to be able to use in emergencies, stay in touch with the group I'm traveling with, and text my boyfriend back home in Texas. He works 12 hours a day so we wouldn't be able to talk or skype much, but he can text throughout the day. Does anybody know if I buy a cheap prepaid phone over there, will I be able to text him? I will probably barely use the phone so I don't care if the texts are a tad expensive, but is there any way I can avoid running up his bill? He has an iphone. Is there anyone you can send a text message internationally to yahoo messenger? Will doing so cut down on his bill? What about to email addresses? If I buy a phone in London, and go to Paris or Venice for a weekend, will I be able to use it there? Any prefered brands of phone to use, or are they all pretty much the same? Any replies will be appreciated! moreResolved Question: Need help (FAST) finding a vet that can crop my puppies ears.?

Red Neck Bank Loan Never under estimate a Texas Redneck Cowboy. A Redneck cowboy from Sweetwater , Texas , walked into a bank in New York City and asked for the loan officer. He told the loan officer that he was going to Paris for an International Redneck Festival and would be gone for two weeks. He needed to borrow $5,000 but he was not a depositor in that bank. The bank officer told him that the bank would need some form of security for the loan, so the Redneck handed over the keys to a new Ferrari. The car was parked on the street in front of the bank. He produced the title and everything checked out. The loan officer agreed to hold the car as collateral for the loan and apologized for having to charge 12% interest. Later, the bank's president and its officers all enjoyed a good laugh at the Redneck from Texas for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral for a $5,000 loan. An employee of the bank then drove the Ferrari into the bank's private underground garage and parked it. Two weeks later, the Redneck returned, repaid the $5,000 and the interest of $23.07. The loan officer said, "Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out on Dun & Bradstreet and found that you are a highly successful investor and multimillionaire with real estate and financial interests all over the world. Your investments include a large number of wind turbines around Sweetwater , Texas . What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?" The good ol' Texas boy replied, "Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $23.07 and expect it to be here when I return?" Every night, all over the world, hundreds and maybe thousands of people see this face in their dreams. If this man appears in your dreams too, or if you have any information that can help identify him, please go to www.thisman.org In January 2006 in New York, the patient of a well-known psychiatrist draws the face of a man that has been repeatedly appearing in her dreams. In more than one occasion that man has given her advice on her private life. The woman swears she has never met the man in her life. That portrait lies forgotten on the psychiatrist's desk for a few days until one day another patient recognizes that face and says that the man has often visited him in his dreams. He also claims he has never seen that man in his waking life. The psychiatrist decides to send the portrait to some of his colleagues that have patients with recurrent dreams. Within a few months, four patients recognize the man as a frequent presence in their own dreams. All the patients refer to him as THIS MAN. From January 2006 until today, at least 2000 people have claimed they have seen this man in their dreams, in many cities all over the world: Los Angeles, Berlin, Sao Paulo, Tehran, Beijing, Rome, Barcelona, Stockholm, Paris, New Dehli, Moskow, New York, Texas, Mexico etc. At the moment there is no ascertained relation or common trait among the people that have dreamed of seeing this man. Moreover, no living man has ever been recognized as resembling the man of the portrait by the people who have seen this man in their dreams. The aim of this website is: - to help those who have seen this man in their dreams and to foster communication among them; - to understand who this man is and why he appears in an apparently pattern-less array of situations in the dreams of such diverse human subjects. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLkOJs3v_JQOh hi Mike, didn't know you did Yahoo answers too. funny! moreResolved Question: Pourriez-vous corriger ces paragraphes anglais?
The United States who share 3 500 km of border with Mexico have decided to build a double wall of 1 125 km long between California and Texas. This wall, made of steel bars spaced 20 cm, as in prisons, will have a third virtual fence equipped with cameras, ground sensors. In addition, 1 500 additional guards will strengthen the border patrol. This will be the largest building in human history after the Great Wall of China. In the Mexican population, the wall, like that of Berlin is seen as one of shame. The anti-American sentiment still latent in Mexico is strengthened. Mexico is the 2nd largest trading partner of the United States. He is a member of NAFTA, the FTA of North America. It guarantees the United States its supply of oil and mineral resources. In return, he reaps only contempt for its powerful neighbor, however, could have a competitive economy without these raw materials and cheap labor market that provides it with Mexico. This wall will make it even more difficult the passage of inmigrants pass the border each year without resolving the problem. No wall stops hunger. The "coyotes" (smugglers) will double or triple the price, which will require seasonal workers to stay in the United States or be making trips as is the tradition for over 100 years. This illegal labor is much more advantageous to the United States so that refuse to legalize migrants. However, it is with some satisfaction that Mexicans find that schizophrenia migration that reached the United States is beginning to have catastrophic effects. With the increased control of borders, 300 km of wall already exist in California, farmers complain of lack of workers to pick fruit, resulting in the loss of millions of dollars. A failed attempt to blow up a plane during the holidays with explosives hidden in clothes happened before, under Bush. Back in 2001 Richard Colvin Reid, also known as Abdul Raheem and as Tariq Raja, and often referred to in the media as the shoe bomber, was convicted on charges of terrorism. On December 22, 2001 he was arrested for attempting to destroy a Boeing 767 on American Airlines Flight 63, a flight from Paris, Charles De Gaulle International Airport to Miami International Airport, USA, by igniting explosives hidden in his shoes. Back then President Bush was on vacation in Crawford Texas, much like Obama was on December 25th, 2009 when another terrorist tried to blow up a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit. Facts: It took Bush 5 days to publicly respond to the terrorist attempt back in 2001. All the White House said at the time is that they were reviewing the situation and they took it seriously. No one officially responded to the incident for 5 DAYS! In essence, the Obama administration said the EXACT SAME THING as the Bush administration said back in 2001. Furthermore Obama took LESS TIME TO REACT THAN BUSH DID IN 2001! Furthermore, NO DEMOCRATS criticized Bush's response time to the shoe bomber, and no Democrats tried to play political games during that time. Question: Why can't Republicans treat Obama as good as Democrats treated Bush on December 22, 2001? Why are Republican's criticizing Obama for doing things the same, if not better than Bush did for the EXACT SAME THING? Summary: Failed terrorist attempt to blow up international flight during the holidays under Bush: = 5 days to respond and no criticism from Republicans or Democrats for slow response. Failed terrorist attempt to blow up international flight during the holidays under Obama: = 3 days to respond and total criticism from Republican for a faster response than Bush. Why do Republicans criticize Obama for this when Bush did THE SAME THING!?Libertarian: You just don't get it do you. Terrorists are going to continue to send attackers. They are going to keep trying. My point was not that it happened, but was the hypocritical response by the Republican party. In essence, when it happens to your guy, no one criticized him, but when it happens to the other guy, you open up the guns and blow him away.Libertarian: You just don't get it do you. It seems like Republicans once again are not acting fairly. Question: Why can't Republicans treat Obama as good as Democrats treated Bush on December 22, 2001? Why are Republican's criticizing Obama for doing things the same, if not better than Bush did for the EXACT SAME THING?Lag Indicator: True True. Democrats said some horrible things about Bush. No denying that. But in this incident, there is no denial. We have two nearly identical situations, The only difference is the destination of the flight, and the placement of the explosives. Both presidents were on vacation, both presidents were 1 year into their first term, both presidents responded the same way, But Bush got a pass, Obama is getting ripped apart for political gain.0- the terrorist travel agent: So, you are going to fight facts and logic with superstition and conspiracy theories? You think that the hypocrisy from the right is justified because of some sort half-backed conspiracy theory? Hi! My friend and I will be traveling to London in mid to late March (14th-22nd) and I was wondering what to expect from the weather during that time. I'm from Texas, so I need to know what I should look for now in stores to possibly buy for the trip. Also, what are some of the "must see" attractions? I'm a huge history person, and so is she. I've been researching things to see and do, but I don't want to miss out on anything. We're planning on going to Windsor, Stonehenge, and Bath for a day trip and then Leeds Castle, Canterbury, Greenwich, and Dover for another day trip. Any must-see attractions inside the city that we shouldn't miss out on? We'll have about 3 and a half to 4 days in the city. We're also planning on spending 2 days/1 night in Paris. We'll be taking a coach tour around Paris and a river cruise up to the Eiffel Tower for one of those days, but what should we do that night (it will be a Friday). Also, I was wondering if going to the Palace of Versailles was worth taking the time to do since we aren't there for too terribly long. Any other must-see suggestions we should check out? Lastly, she would like to go visit Edinburgh, but I am at a loss as to what we can do there other than the Edinburgh Castle, Parliament House, and maybe the zoo?!? Any suggestions here? Thanks for taking the time to answer and help me out! :) moreTop Paris Texas Links
