Stephenville Texas Ufo Questions asked

Resolved Question: What can be made of this UFO report from 2 years ago? Accurate or not?

I've been poring over this report for the past 16 months, and I'm still unable to make a solidly rational decision on it. The PDF file (in the link below) is from radar data obtained during the "Stephenville Lights" incident in Texas (which occurred in January 2008). After actually reading the data, it does seem to be legitimate, and corroborates several eyewitness testimonials. All of the data appears to be included, according to the confirmed FOIA requests. http://www.mufon.com/documents/MUFONStephenvilleRadarReport.pdf I will only consider answers from those who have actually read the report, rather than those who scan and make a snap judgment. There is enough doubt in both directions to make this a difficult discernment to me. In emailing those who were involved in the analysis, the answers do seem to be cogent and well-reasoned. The math is certainly accurate, if the data (which, again, corroborates the eyewitness reports) is accurate. Anyone wanna field this one?Nice Guy: The issue I have with the PSICOP explanation is that it doesn't address the findings of the report (which do address things like calculation of size and distance). It specifically talks about the problems with estimation of size, but one of the solutions is determining where it was above the ground by someone familiar with the terrain (I believe it was a police officer in the report). The calculations were then estimated from the eyewitness's testimony, and took into account the exaggeration which occurs from memory. In addition, the report also says that there were "no planes in the area at that time" (which the radar data seems to confirm). The data itself is where I'm having the hangup, as even taking into account the issues that CSICOP brings up, there is still the issue of the radar data confirming that an object accelerated and decelerated rather suddenly--much too quickly for a human pilot to withstand but might something so large be remote-controlled? It's maddening.PSICOP = CSICOP (typo there, sorry)ChainLightning: Do actually read the report, and the entire question. "Argument from ignorance" is something I'm familiar with. This particular report does take it into account... really, it's worth a read, and there's an actual reason I'm in this conundrum.Superpsychicman: Could you be a little more specific about this coverup? I don't see much in the way of evidence of any kind of coverup in the report, or afterward (there's nothing pointing to it, as the event itself received ample news coverage, some even from international sources!). Seriously, I'm going to demand proof if you're going to make such claims. I'm talking about this incident (and not any other), so I want facts related to this event only, not conjecture or comparison. Evidence, not theory. Proof, not belief. Also: ChainLighting: Read the report. Then do a statistical analysis on the possibility that all of the radar towers were fooled at once, in the same place, at the same time, with corroboration from eyewitnesses... the argument relies on a preponderance of evidence, not on any single factor thereof. It's cogent, well-thought-out, well-documented, and there is plenty of other corroborating evidence as well. Though there are no physical traces, there is plenty of detail which was caught in a relatively short amount of time. Or are you going to tell me that an entire town is conspiring against the scientific community to perpetrate a fraudulent claim? If this is the direction you're going, I'd love some proof. If not, please make your case for why corroborated testimony from multiple accounts cannot be held as accurate (especially as it's fine for some scientific claims, but not others). Why not, in this case? For clarification: I am not saying "alien craft" nor did I imply it. What I did say is "object" because it's unclear what the origin of the craft is. What we do know is that the origin is unknown, and that the craft doesn't conform to any known design. So far, I'm seeing that people are resistant to the idea that the craft is clearly identified as unknown in origin, believing that this somehow equates to alien origin... my question is: can this be accurate? I do have to say that Witchy's answer is compelling. more

Resolved Question: Have you heard about the UFO's in Texas?

So I don't know if this is all over the news stations and papers like it is here, but for the last year there have been "lights" in our area. I live not far from Stephenville and there have been so many sightings in our area, Brownwood, Abilene. I have seen several videos and know people who have seen this that would not lie and will not tell anyone else. Okay so with all that. I don't believe in aliens but I think someone has made some kind of plane or something that the are messing with everyone with. It is really getting ridiculous! Always the same thing...A row of lights, with a black mass behind it. Then it is just gone. The show UFO hunters where in Stephenville and did a show last year when it started but there were sightings last Thursday and Saturday, and that is only what is being reported. I am talking 100's of people in towns that are an hour or more apart, and these people don't know each other! So anyway Has anyone outside of Texas been hearing of this? What do You think? I am not a weirdo, I am an educated normal person. Spare me the President Bush jokes his ranch is over 4 hours from where I live. more

Because it just seems to be in this area.I do not believe in aliens. Not everyone in Texas is a stupid gun wielding idiots. Don't stereotype. I just thought maybe someone would have some ideas or thoughts, not insult my home. Hope that makes you feel better about yourself. So clever with the President Bush jokes. Resolved Question: why do you think Aliens dont land on earth?

by now everybody believes in space aliens so why do you think they havent openly landed at an airport in a major city? Do you believe aliens have dealings with the governments of the world and are steering us in a certain direction? If so is it for our benefit or theirs? Why not simply land publicly? What do you think would happen? Would you welcome them as equals? Have you heard about that major UFO sighting earlier this year near stephenville texas? what do you make of that?Dancing you sound like a closed minded person. What makes you believe our level of technology and theirs are the same? You read wikipedia so that makes you an expert on stuff? I bet you would still believe the world is flat if columbus didnt prove otherwise. more

Resolved Question: Stephenville, TX Police UFO Images VS Olmsted, OH Police UFO Images Sep 04?

The unusual nature of the images in the two films is worth pondering. But the similarities are uncanny. Ohio 2004 http://www.clevelandufo.com/092604-2.html Texas 2008 http://www.earthfiles.com/news.php?ID=1384&category=Environment For you scientific- minded- hoax- conspiracy freaks, this question pre-supposes no conspiracy between the Ohio police and the Texas police to create a hoax was in place to produce the images. If you answer the question assume the images are as nearly what witnesses saw as those of the Apollo landings [you trust], please. Are there any known atmospheric, solar wind, auroral, planetary, reflections on camera lenses, or aircraft explanations to explain visual results such as these? Thanks Frank W. According to spaceweather dot com archives there was a possibility for aurora on the days for Jan 08 sightings, but none on those days Sept 2004. Gracias. Jack more

Resolved Question: Why does the US military still cover up UFO incidents like the case in Stephenville, Texas?

Please give us a little credit. F-16's? Yeah, right!!! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080123/ap_on_re_us/ufo_sightings;_ylt=AjyS3jtvGNP4yywxCsI3C9xH2ocA more

Resolved Question: What do you think of the military's explanation of the Stephenville, Texas UFO sightings?

More than two weeks after UFOs were reported over Stephenville, the U.S. military has offered an explanation as to the source of the mysterious lights. Maj. Karl Lewis, a spokesman for the 301st Fighter Wing at the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base, said in a news release that an "error was made regarding the reported training activity of military aircraft" and that "10 F-16s from the 457th Fighter Squadron were performing training operations in the Brownwood Military Operating Area." Lewis had previously said there were no F-16s or other aircraft from the base in the area the night many of the sightings were reported. more

Resolved Question: Ufo.......?

With the recent sightings of UFO's over Stephenville Texas, many are arguing that the military is telling false statements and demand an investigation. But an ex-pilot named Steve Allen claimed he captured footage of the UFO changing shapes while being persued by f-16's. In a recent inerview he explained how the military was training over DUBLIN TEXAS, couple hundred miles away from Stephenville but doubted the fact that at first they claimed there were no f-16s that night, then later on stating that there indeed were 10 f-16s that night. The footage he captured was remarkably fascinating, many pro UFO believers are now saying this footage will now persuade the military to undergo an investigation over Stephenville, my question here is, why are so many people believing the military? doesn't this sound like phoenix light,(at first denying, then admitting there were activities taking place), lighthouse beacon, etc. is the footage he has undergoing testing(light frequency)? more

Resolved Question: The stephenville, Texas UFO sightings?

I was wondering how many are actually informed of what really happened, or just what you've read. I live in Stephenville Texas where the latest sightings take place so I'll give you the dish and you can leave questions or explanations. First, Do I believe in aliens...no I believe the government is covering up a large WOMD. Here's why. The night of the sightings, over a dozen government issued cars were driving about stephenville. After 15 minutes of my husband and I seeing these vehicles did we see the "strange lights." Less than a minute after that- two fighter jets flying low to the ground and less than half a mile apart went overhead. Yet, the airforce claims to not have been flying jets that night. and mysteriously enough, there is no radar footage from our local airport to prove other wise. and the Maj, in charge, say's, "the sun plays tricks." When in fact this all took place after dusk. the jets were in fact coming from the NE, which would be Ft. Worth. More to comeAnd even tonight the same jets flew over head exactly the same as last week...at around 10:40 pm...when we've seen the same strange lights. Do I think this is a government coverup..hell yea. Over the past year large metal parts have been hauled on semi loads accompanied by the army. No one know's where they are going. Many people who have no relation or knowledge of each other are giving the same accounts, including our constable- lee roy. Why do I think the government is covering up....in crude terms...I think they are building a large "DEATH STAR". In relation to what- IRAQ? I really don't know. All I know is that they sure are going through a lot of work to "hush" and bring to close word of the sightings.Wonderer. You don't live in Stephenville, So YOU really have no clue what YOU are talking about. The fact that the government was already in town BEFORE the sightings state that they were there on their own agenda. And how convienient is it that only 1 minute after the sightings- the jets were already in town- obviously they knew something was going on and they were suppose to be there cause not even if they saw something on radar or were told could they show up that fast. No one in this town believes it to be aliens except some of the highschool and college burnouts who are saying so for attention. Like I said, the Army has been transporting large steel and mechanical objects into our town for over a year now. They are building something, but yet no one can account for the new where abouts of these shipments. more
