Soon the Cleveland Indians will probably be the fourth team in baseball to be officially taken out of 2010 playoff contention (their "elimination number" is 11). They currently have the worst record in the American League Central with 53-77 (.408). The Cleveland Indians are historically a decent team. Since starting in 1901, the franchise has a winning record with 8,675 wins and 8,351 losses. The Indians have made it to the playoffs 10 times, won the AL pennant 5 times, and won the World Series twice (they beat the Brooklyn Robins in 1920 and the Boston Braves in 1948). Recently, the Indians even played in the 2007 ALCS, where they were defeated by the Boston Red Sox in Game 7 at Fenway Park. Let's look at the facts about this season: First game of season: Beaten by the White Sox in Chicago 0-6 (April 5) First home game of season: Beaten by the Texas Rangers 2-4 (April 12) Worst Loss of Season: Beaten by the Oakland Athletics 0-11 (April 25) Best Victory of Season: Defeated the Boston Red Sox 11-0 (June 9) Longest losing streak of season: Lost 7 consecutive inter-league games to the Pirates, Phillies and Reds (June 19-26). They can't win on the road, they played the pillow soft NL Central (didn't play the Cards or Reds) and went 21-6 in June against bad teams. This year is the only year that the Angels or Mariners weren't at least good/great or just decent so there was little competition from within. Soon the Seattle Mariners will probably be the third team in baseball to be officially taken out of 2010 playoff contention (their "elimination number" is 8). They currently have the second worst record in the American League with 50-77 (.394). Its even possible that they could lose over 100 games for the season. The Seattle Mariners are historically not that great of a team. Since starting in 1977, the franchise has a losing record with 2,511 wins and 2,837 losses. The Mariners have made it to the playoffs four times previously, but never won the AL Pennant. They did, however, have winning seasons last year and in 2007. NEAR MISSION — Gilberto Aguilar paid the ultimate price. The drug smuggler had just delivered 300 pounds of marijuana to a customer for his boss in early February. Aguilar went back there several hours later to steal the load back for himself. The customer recognized him by his voice, Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño said. That would spell the end for Aguilar. Sheriff’s deputies arrested three people in connection with Aguilar’s slaying and the possible killing of his suspected hit man. Aguilar was found beaten and shot to death Feb. 6 in a field near the intersection of Mile 11 1/2 North and Texan Road. His boss, whose name authorities did not disclose, allegedly leads an Hidalgo County-based marijuana wholesaler that would typically deliver several-hundred-pound loads to area clients, Treviño said. When the boss learned Aguilar angered one of his customers, he sought revenge. Investigators believe Aguilar, an illegal immigrant, was kidnapped and taken to a house on the 2600 block of Ken Street — north of the intersection of Mile 5 North and La Homa Road — and was beaten with brass knuckles before he met his fate at the end of a gun barrel in a rural field. He was found with a gunshot to the chest and Rata — Spanish slang for thief — written on his head. The homicide case remained open for several months until Texas Rangers and Department of Public Safety narcotics investigators working their own investigation into the smuggling group helped “fill in the missing pieces,” Treviño said. That allowed deputies to move in and make the three arrests Wednesday. Information learned from those arrested — who have given confessions — led investigators to the body of the second suspected homicide victim, Treviño said. The individuals arrested Wednesday told investigators the body of Aguilar’s hit man could be found in the backyard of the gang ringleader’s house. The family of the hit man, whose name was not disclosed, has not seen him since May, the sheriff said. Sheriff’s deputies and Texas Rangers raided the house on Ken Street under the sweltering midday sun Wednesday afternoon. Later in the evening, county workers continued to dig in the backyard. They finally reached the remains about 8:15 p.m. — buried about 9 feet underground, beneath two layers of concrete and a chicken coop. Investigators sifted through the earth to ensure they didn’t miss anything. “I want to make sure there’s no body parts or possible evidence in there,” the sheriff said. The unearthing of the remains marks the 12th homicide case the sheriff’s office has opened this year. In another raid Wednesday connected to the smuggling group, officials seized about 300 pounds of marijuana from a house along Breyfogle Road north of Expressway 83 near Palmview. Treviño said the drug bundles were marked with the initials “CDG” — the call sign of Cartel del Golfo, or the Gulf Cartel, one of the dominant cartels based in Matamoros. Despite that, investigators maintain the local group ordered the hits on Aguilar and his hit man, Treviño said. “It’s common sense that 100 percent of the narcotics in Hidalgo County are coming from Mexico,” he said. “The cartel did not sanction or order this hit. It comes from the local group.” Deputies continue to look for three or four other possible suspects with ties to the drug smugglers and the two suspected murders, the sheriff said. The three suspects already arrested — including the group’s alleged ringleader — are set to face murder, organized crime and felony drug charges at an arraignment hearing scheduled for Friday. Treviño said he expects officials to arrest a total of eight or nine people in connection with the case. “I think we’re going to effectively dismantle this locally based smuggling ring,” he said. http://www.brownsvilleherald.com/news/mission-116024-smuggling-arrests.html moreResolved Question: How is this possible Detroit Tigers offseason? Thoughts on the 2010 Baltimore Orioles? Within a couple days, the Baltimore Orioles will be the first team in baseball to be officially taken out of 2010 playoff contention (their "elimination number" is 3). They currently have the 2nd worst record in baseball (ahead of the Pittsburgh Pirates) and the worst record in the American League with 45-82 (.354). It seems as though they could lose over 100 games for the season. Let's not forget that the Baltimore Orioles are historically a great team. The franchise has been in the playoffs 11 times (once as the St. Louis Browns). They have won 7 American League pennants (once as the St. Louis Browns). They even won the World Series 3 times (defeated the Dodgers in 1966, the Reds in 1970, and the Phillies in 1981). But they haven't been in the playoffs nor even had a winning season since 1997 Let's look at the facts about this season: Lost from 2009: DH/1B Aubrey Huff (.283) and 3B Melvin Mora (.278) Gained for 2010: 1B Garrett Atkins (.285) and P Kevin Millwood (4.12 ERA) [This season Millwood has a 5.63 ERA and is 2-14, both the worst ERA and the most losses for any season of his career] First game of season: Lost 3-4 against Rays in Tampa (April 6) First home game: Lost 6-7 against Toronto Blue Jays (April 9), which started a 9-game losing streak Won only 2 of first 18 games Longest losing streak of season: Lost 10 in a row against Athletics, Blue Jays, Yankees and Red Sox (May 26-June 5) Managerial change: Manager Dave Trembley fired on June 3 Worst defeat of season: 0-11 in Baltimore by Boston Red Sox (June 4) Best win streak of season: Swept four game series against Rangers in Texas (July 8-11) Managerial change: Buck Showalter is made manager on July 30 So far the Orioles have lost all 12 games they've had against the Toronto Blue Jays The Orioles have lost 10 of 12 games against the New York Yankees The Orioles have lost 9 of 12 games against the Tampa Bay Rays The Orioles are have 6 wins and 6 losses against the Boston Red Sox Best Orioles batting average: DH Luke Scott (.291 average) Most Orioles home runs: DH Luke Scott (25 home runs) Most Orioles RBI: 1B Ty Wigginton (63 RBI) Most Orioles wins: SP Jeremy Guthrie (7 wins, 13 losses) Best Orioles ERA: SP Jeremy Guthrie (4.13 ERA) Most Orioles saves: RP Alfredo Simon (17 saves) Baltimore Orioles team batting average = .258 Baltimore Orioles team ERA: 4.90 Baltimore Orioles team fielding percentage = .982 What are your thoughts on the Baltimore Orioles? I buying a 1999 Ford Mustang Base Automatic V6 as soon as I get my tax refund in this year. I live in Texas and have insurance on my current car which is a 1997 Ford Ranger XLT Automatic 4 Cylinder. I have been driving for 2 years and have had over 8 months ago. How much should I expect to pay monthly for insurance and who would you suggest I get my insurance service from? moreResolved Question: What do you think about this divisional re-alignment?
In my opinion, the current MLB division system is flawed. There are an average of 5 teams per division, yet the AL West has only 4 teams and the NL Central has 6. This means its harder for the average NL Central team (the Cardinals, for example) to go to the playoffs than the average baseball team, just as it is easier for a AL West team to go to the playoffs. On top of that, look at the AL East. Three of the best teams in baseball are stuck in one division. Plus there are 16 teams in the NL and 14 teams in the AL. Something needs to be done. So, what do you think of this system of having four divisions with four teams each, like the NFL (please note that 2 new teams would be necessary for this. I have upgraded two minor league teams, the New Orleans Zephyrs and the Las Vegas 51s, to the American League): AL EAST: Baltimore Orioles Boston Red Sox New York Yankees Toronto Blue Jays AL WEST: Las Vegas 51s Los Angeles Angels Oakland Athletics Seattle Mariners AL NORTH: Chicago White Sox Cleveland Indians Detroit Tigers Minnesota Twins AL SOUTH: Kansas City Royals New Orleans Zephyrs Tampa Bay Rays Texas Rangers NL EAST: Atlanta Braves New York Mets Philadelphia Phillies Washington Nationals NL WEST: Colorado Rockies Los Angeles Dodgers San Diego Padres San Francisco Giants NL NORTH: Chicago Cubs Cincinnati Reds Milwaukee Brewers Pittsburgh Pirates NL SOUTH: Arizona Diamondbacks Florida Marlins Houston Astros St. Louis Cardinals * moreResolved Question: 8/24/2010 AL West Predictions?

Really you're looking like the retard. Know something about what your talking about before you insult someone on it...... - I never said it wasn't all opinions from the Angels to the Yankees. Yeah, my team the Tigers WILL be getting a lot of free agents this off season. They are dumping nearly $80,000,000 in payroll. - I don't understand how Fuentes is "suck ***" when he is 4-1 with a 3.13 ERA... Diaz? Who's average is ~30 less than Inge's? - The Braves ownership doesn't like to spend too much money. Their only FA pickup on the team is Billy Wagner. Your saying they'll stick their neck out on a risky Lee, when they could re-sign Glaus for 1/5th of that? - Brandon Inge isn't the top 3rd baseman dumb ass, Beltre is... How about reading the details. Oh, and btw - Inge's average is 15 points HIGHER THAN LEE'S!!!! moreResolved Question: Is Cliff Lee tanking the season in Texas?
Colin Cowherd is talking about how when the Seattle and New York potential trade was getting "finalized," that Cliff Lee and CC Sabathia were on the phone working on living arrangements in the same neighborhood. Now we look at Cliff Lee's 9 starts as a Texas Ranger, and they (as a team) are 2-7 in those games. An Ace doesn't lead his team to 2-7 over his starts for 1/3 of a season. (A 2-3 record for him personally I believe? - Which is to a point understandable) So is Cliff Lee just tanking/mailing it in, waiting for this summer to just go to New York?Summer, lol. How awesome would that be!! 2 Teams no one gave much of a chance in spring training win their divisions and league pennant. Such a great matchup -- Texas Great Offense versus San Diego's Great Pitching What a world series this will be eh!! Also the first time 2 expansion teams (teams that joined MLB after 1960) will face each other in the WS. I honestly believe this will be the WS. Padres have a great rotation and pen and the Rangers have the best lineup in baseball when healthy. Cliff Lee has shown he can dominate the Yanks (2009 WS) and in a short series I think they can knock out the defending champs. The Pads are the best team in the NL --- the additions of Tejada and Ludwick have made their lineup much better and the pitching will carry them home. Texas Rangers @ San Diego Padres Game 1 of the WS (Cliff Lee vs. Mat Latos) < awesome pitching match. Lee would be AL Cy young winner if he was with the Rangers the whole year and Latos should be the NL winner, yes even over Wainwright. Better K/9 ratio and better BAA Wow this could be the best WS matchup in a Looooong time. Yes, I hate the Red Sox more than any professional sports team, but they deserve to make the playoffs. They're 69-52, one game up on Texas for the fourth best AL record. Yet, Texas will definitely make the playoffs because they lead the AL West by 8 games over Los Angeles. Texas is an extremely overrated team. With the unbalanced schedule, you play roughly 75 games within your division. Outside of Texas, the 3 other AL West teams have records under .500. Not tough games for the Rangers to play there. Also to consider is there record against quality teams, and their record against terrible teams. They're 9-15 against the Yankees, Rays, Red Sox, and Twins. Against the Orioles, Royals, Indians, and Mariners they're 21-10. In my opinion, we should just wipe out divisions in Major League Baseball. Then we would know who the best teams were. moreResolved Question: 3rd Baseman blocks the bag going down on one knee..legal or not?
Rangers Vs. Oriels Blanco on Texas Rangers hits a ball deep to the wall today. The relay throw is great. but the problem is as the runner slides head first..the 3rd baseman has his knee blocking over half of the bag. id say about 3/4 of it. so as the runner comes in his hands hits the 3rd baseman's leg. the runner beat the throw but couldn't touch the bag. watch espn tonight to see it...or give me your opinion now if i described it good enough for you to decide.update ... the whole bag is blocked. just watched replaythe runner was ruled out. the runner was touching the 3rd baseman's leg as the he was bringing his glove down with the ball moreResolved Question: Think about being a Ranger have a ?

As a New York Yankees fan It's pretty frustrating how ESPN and FOX are so deeply entrenched in their support of the Rex Sox and their hatred of the Yankees that they tend to make up things that aren't true or opinions that aren't supported by facts. For example, ESPN says that the Texas Rangers have the edge over the Yankees in a playoff scenario. That is not supported by facts. the Yankees are winning the season series so far. And theyve also shown that they CAN beat Cliff Lee- they did it the last time he faced them. Someone please explain this occurrence? The media is supposed to be neutral. I can't speak for many other teams, since 95% of the games I watch are the Rangers - so I'd like to hear other fans from other teams give legitimate responses/choices. Vlad Guerrero was definitely a candidate for a while, but his recent struggles have all but ruined his chances. I am giving my pick to Colby Lewis (I'm almost certain this is going to jinx him tonight and for the rest of the season) He managed a 10-win season in 2003, went around the league, went to Japan, and re-found his game. Now he's back in Texas and has more K's than IP this season. He gets absolutely no run support, and because of that, has a mediocre record. He has definitely had the year of his life and is playing currently like a 20+ win pitcher. moreResolved Question: cps taking me away for weed?
