They can't win on the road, they played the pillow soft NL Central (didn't play the Cards or Reds) and went 21-6 in June against bad teams. This year is the only year that the Angels or Mariners weren't at least good/great or just decent so there was little competition from within. They are destroyed back East and can't win outside of their oversized softball park. Thoughts?Take away that 21-6 june and they are 52-50 :/ more

NEAR MISSION — Gilberto Aguilar paid the ultimate price. The drug smuggler had just delivered 300 pounds of marijuana to a customer for his boss in early February. Aguilar went back there several hours later to steal the load back for himself. The customer recognized him by his voice, Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Treviño said. That would spell the end for Aguilar. Sheriff’s deputies arrested three people in connection with Aguilar’s slaying and the possible killing of his suspected hit man. Aguilar was found beaten and shot to death Feb. 6 in a field near the intersection of Mile 11 1/2 North and Texan Road. His boss, whose name authorities did not disclose, allegedly leads an Hidalgo County-based marijuana wholesaler that would typically deliver several-hundred-pound loads to area clients, Treviño said. When the boss learned Aguilar angered one of his customers, he sought revenge. Investigators believe Aguilar, an illegal immigrant, was kidnapped and taken to a house on the 2600 block of Ken Street — north of the intersection of Mile 5 North and La Homa Road — and was beaten with brass knuckles before he met his fate at the end of a gun barrel in a rural field. He was found with a gunshot to the chest and Rata — Spanish slang for thief — written on his head. The homicide case remained open for several months until Texas Rangers and Department of Public Safety narcotics investigators working their own investigation into the smuggling group helped “fill in the missing pieces,” Treviño said. That allowed deputies to move in and make the three arrests Wednesday. Information learned from those arrested — who have given confessions — led investigators to the body of the second suspected homicide victim, Treviño said. The individuals arrested Wednesday told investigators the body of Aguilar’s hit man could be found in the backyard of the gang ringleader’s house. The family of the hit man, whose name was not disclosed, has not seen him since May, the sheriff said. Sheriff’s deputies and Texas Rangers raided the house on Ken Street under the sweltering midday sun Wednesday afternoon. Later in the evening, county workers continued to dig in the backyard. They finally reached the remains about 8:15 p.m. — buried about 9 feet underground, beneath two layers of concrete and a chicken coop. Investigators sifted through the earth to ensure they didn’t miss anything. “I want to make sure there’s no body parts or possible evidence in there,” the sheriff said. The unearthing of the remains marks the 12th homicide case the sheriff’s office has opened this year. In another raid Wednesday connected to the smuggling group, officials seized about 300 pounds of marijuana from a house along Breyfogle Road north of Expressway 83 near Palmview. Treviño said the drug bundles were marked with the initials “CDG” — the call sign of Cartel del Golfo, or the Gulf Cartel, one of the dominant cartels based in Matamoros. Despite that, investigators maintain the local group ordered the hits on Aguilar and his hit man, Treviño said. “It’s common sense that 100 percent of the narcotics in Hidalgo County are coming from Mexico,” he said. “The cartel did not sanction or order this hit. It comes from the local group.” Deputies continue to look for three or four other possible suspects with ties to the drug smugglers and the two suspected murders, the sheriff said. The three suspects already arrested — including the group’s alleged ringleader — are set to face murder, organized crime and felony drug charges at an arraignment hearing scheduled for Friday. In my opinion, the current MLB division system is flawed. There are an average of 5 teams per division, yet the AL West has only 4 teams and the NL Central has 6. This means its harder for the average NL Central team (the Cardinals, for example) to go to the playoffs than the average baseball team, just as it is easier for a AL West team to go to the playoffs. On top of that, look at the AL East. Three of the best teams in baseball are stuck in one division. Plus there are 16 teams in the NL and 14 teams in the AL. Something needs to be done. So, what do you think of this system of having four divisions with four teams each, like the NFL (please note that 2 new teams would be necessary for this. How awesome would that be!! 2 Teams no one gave much of a chance in spring training win their divisions and league pennant. Such a great matchup -- Texas Great Offense versus San Diego's Great Pitching What a world series this will be eh!! Also the first time 2 expansion teams (teams that joined MLB after 1960) will face each other in the WS. I honestly believe this will be the WS. Padres have a great rotation and pen and the Rangers have the best lineup in baseball when healthy. Cliff Lee has shown he can dominate the Yanks (2009 WS) and in a short series I think they can knock out the defending champs. The Pads are the best team in the NL --- the additions of Tejada and Ludwick have made their lineup much better and the pitching will carry them home. Texas Rangers @ San Diego Padres Game 1 of the WS (Cliff Lee vs. Mat Latos) < awesome pitching match. Lee would be AL Cy young winner if he was with the Rangers the whole year and Latos should be the NL winner, yes even over Wainwright. Yes, I hate the Red Sox more than any professional sports team, but they deserve to make the playoffs. They're 69-52, one game up on Texas for the fourth best AL record. Yet, Texas will definitely make the playoffs because they lead the AL West by 8 games over Los Angeles. Texas is an extremely overrated team. With the unbalanced schedule, you play roughly 75 games within your division. Outside of Texas, the 3 other AL West teams have records under .500. Not tough games for the Rangers to play there. Also to consider is there record against quality teams, and their record against terrible teams. They're 9-15 against the Yankees, Rays, Red Sox, and Twins. Against the Orioles, Royals, Indians, and Mariners they're 21-10. In my opinion, we should just wipe out divisions in Major League Baseball. Then we would know who the best teams were. more

I can't speak for many other teams, since 95% of the games I watch are the Rangers - so I'd like to hear other fans from other teams give legitimate responses/choices. Vlad Guerrero was definitely a candidate for a while, but his recent struggles have all but ruined his chances. I am giving my pick to Colby Lewis (I'm almost certain this is going to jinx him tonight and for the rest of the season) He managed a 10-win season in 2003, went around the league, went to Japan, and re-found his game. Now he's back in Texas and has more K's than IP this season. He gets absolutely no run support, and because of that, has a mediocre record.
