Resolved Question: What does the future hold for the Big XII?

I've heard the stories of the Texas Tech coach claiming in 2-5 years the Big Twelve will disband. I for one find this preposterous for several reasons. For one even the ten remaining teams are all still in one local area essentially. 4 are in Texas, 2 in Oklahoma, 2 in Kansas, and one each in Missouri and Iowa. I don't see why perhaps New Mexico, Nevada, Rice, Houston, Colorado State, or my recommendation BYU (granted they are far away but still a football powerhouse) could join. Secondly if the Big 12 were to hypothetically disband where would all the schools go? It'd be hard to divvy up all those big name universities and old rivalries between regional colleges would likely be quashed as the B10, SEC, and PAC 10 split the conference to form their own mega-conferences. I just don't see that working. What do you think will become of the future of the Big 12? I think even with just ten schools they could hold their own if they so chose. I think their best bet would be to add BYU and New Mexico. Also another question of interest. The Big 12 consisted of the Big 8 and the addition to several Texas and Oklahoma schools I believe. What conference were the Texas Longhorns in before the creation of the Big 12? more

Voting Question: The fall of the big 12??????

Travel NCAA football consists of just 12 games in 13 weeks. But let's face it, it's not all about football. There are other sports to consider. For example, the Texas Longhorn baseball team played over 50 games against over 20 opponents. The farthest they traveled was Columbia, Mo., which is 800 miles by road. Imagine when they have to play the Washington Huskies. That's around 2,100 miles. That's a long way to go for a baseball game. Throw in men's basketball, track and field, swimming and diving, golf, and tennis, plus women's basketball, softball, tennis, volleyball, rowing, track and field, and all the others, and you've inconvenienced the entire athletic division. Not to mention the parents and fans. In the SEC, the driving distance would be around 1,000 miles tops, and that's to Gainesville, Fla. Weather It's damn cold in the Pacific Northwest and Big Ten territory October through December. Do you really want to send all those Southern boys, family, and fans to sit in an open stadium with a -10 degree windchill factor? There's a reason the good bowl games are held in the South and California. It's warm. Joining the Big Ten or the Pac-10 only puts your football team at a disadvantage when it comes to away games. Geography Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Pac in Pac-10 stand for Pacific? Good luck moving Texas and Oklahoma to the left coast. You'd be forever the outsider in the Pac-10. But the jokes should be good. The Big Ten is no better. Let's not forget our roots here. We're Southerners. We belong down South. The deeper the better. Imagine the influx of carpetbaggers when the Big Ten Network starts airing your games. If for no other reason, consider geographical pride when choosing which conference to join. Recruiting Texas is already losing top recruits to the SEC. Always have and always will. Do you want to start losing even more to the Pac-10 and Big Ten schools? Because it will happen. You may start losing even more recruits to the SEC if the kids don't want to play in the other two conferences. Competition Do you really want to be stuck playing a crippled USC, the Arizonas, UCLA, either Washington team, Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Ohio? If so, you'll be the new bully on the block. Your teams will only get better by playing Alabama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Tennessee, Auburn, and South Carolina. Four of these teams have won BCS championships. Prestige The Big 12 South has always been under the impression that they were in the best conference, period. Except for one pesky fact: That honor goes to the SEC. Well, now you have your chance. If the Big 12 South is indeed that strong, then prove it in the conference that has won half of all the BCS championships, including the last four. This is your chance to man up. Tommy Tuberville Who wouldn't want to see coach Tuberville get another shot at Nick Saban? I don't care what anybody says, if Tuberville had gotten a seventh straight win against Alabama, Gene Chizik would still be in Iowa. Better yet, Tommy Tuberville vs. Auburn. Imagine the hype surrounding that game. It would become an automatic rivalry that could last beyond Tuberville's tenure at Texas Tech. Who in the SEC wouldn't watch that game? Conclusion Money isn't everything. Well, maybe to some. But I say let's get above that fray. If there is going to be a conference realignment, let's do it to make football better. Better for the athletes, better for the parents, better for the fans. And who's to say that with the addition of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Baylor, the SEC wouldn't be the king of the machine that drives college sports these days? What do you think? Is the fall of the big 12 good or bad? To me, it is bad. Weather, Extra money being poured out. The Conferences were made so that colleges would be is a close distance for games. This is just completely stupid. Not to mention the time zones will be messed up for viewers on Central and Eastern Time Zones. more

Resolved Question: What are all of these changes going to do to college football?

http://texas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1092612 "A source close to the Nebraska Board of Regents told Orangebloods.com the regents informally agreed Wednesday to move to the Big Ten and that a formal announcement Nebraska is leaving will come Friday." "Just as Orangebloods.com was first to report last Thursday, the Pac-10 will invite Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Colorado. And it appears those invitations will be accepted." "According to sources, Colorado will also opt out of the Big 12 and accept an invitation to the Pac-10." Wow, you could be talking USC, Oklahoma, TX, TX A&M, T Tech, OK St., Colorado, UCLA, and Oregon among others all in the same conference. Good grief. Resolved Question: What do you think of Phil Steele's Top 25 of College Football?

Phil Steele, for those who don't know, is a writer who produces the most accurate CFB magazines every year, and boy, they are IN DEPTH. It's amazing he does it all by himself. But anyways, what do you think of his Top 25? What do you agree and disagree with? 1. Oklahoma Sooners 2. Ohio State Buckeyes 3. Alabama Crimson Tide 4. Texas Christian Horned Frogs 5. Nebraska Cornhuskers 6. Boise State Broncos 7. Florida Gators 8. USC Trojans 9. Miami (FL) Hurricanes 10. Oregon Ducks 11. Texas Longhorns 12. North Carolina Tar Heels 13. Virginia Tech Hokies 14. Iowa Hawkeyes 15. Auburn Tigers 16. Notre Dame Fighting Irish 17. Arkansas Razorbacks 18. Penn State Nittany Lions 19. Georgia Bulldogs 20. Florida State Seminoles 21. South Carolina Gamecocks 22. West Virginia Mountaineers 23. Wisconsin Badgers 24. Houston Cougars 25. Arizona Wildcats I know, the first thing you'll think is "OU AT #1???" like I did, but Phil Steele is one of the best forecasters ever, so, hey, this could be the year they win it! Also, I liked seeing Auburn so high, of course! lol War Eagle!!Lions, Vikings, and Bears suck: Well, I didn;t get why LSU wasn't on there either, but Phil doesn't seem to have alot of confidence in them. Also, people, READ THE DESCRIPTION. The list is not my opinion, it is Phil Steele's "facts". I mean, I would SO have Auburn higher than that. lolRob B: Yes, you are right, but I don't think they should do away with preseason rankings. I like them because it shows what qualifies as "Big Week 1 Games" and it lets you know where you THINK you stand.Roscoe: LOL you make me laugh, man! That was 200freakin8! I'm glad we didn't get Gill, because Chizik is doing a great job! I guess you're jealous because your team isn't good at all. That's why I have never seen you mention who your favorite team is. See, it's idiots like you that make it sweeter when we win games!Roscoe: Dude, stop embarassing yourself. You know nothing about Gene Chizik. You know, dumbazz, humans HAVE addapted the ability to learn from mistakes. Might I mention Chizik knows how to win at Auburn? His 2004 defense was #4 in AMERICA. #4 is also the ranking of the recruiting class Chizik hauled in. Might I add Chizik has drawn in the 2 biggest spring game crowds in Auburn HISTORY?? What has Turner Gill done? He.... stopped the football and basketball teams from having violent brawls... I hope. I don't know why I even repky to your dumb azz, you obviously don't watch college football. To say AU is low-tier is saying you haven't watched college football since 1930. But, hey, I'll let my team do the talking. We made a GREAT hire. You can even ask some Bammer fans, who actually have a higher intellect than you. At least Alabama fans have a REASON for hating us! War Eagle! Chizik > Gill more

Voting Question: SEC fans - Talking expansion - Who do you want?

Well it seems the big 10 is serious about expansion, and now the SEC is having to answer questions about THEIR expansion. Teams that continually come up are Florida State, Clemson, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma. Regardless of whether you think the SEC will expand in the near future or not, hypothetically, what four teams would you want to join your conference? It seems like a bit of a conundrum. On one hand, you surely would like to remain the most powerful football conference in the nation. On the other hand, it's already difficult enough to win the SEC without looking at your conference schedule and seeing the likes of Texas and Oklahoma on top of LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida. Give me a 4-team wishlist for expansion. P.S. Since I know you SEC fans are a proud bunch, you would never say that Texas would have beaten Alabama in the National Championship last January. But I would like to know anyway, just for fun, what YOU think the final score would have been if Colt McCoy had been healthy the entire game... Use your imagination.Daniel, Give me a final score! more

Resolved Question: Why do I feel that College Football is going to look like this somehow?

I dont know but it seems like the Big 10 is wanting to expand to 16 teams, and no way the SEC is going to sit back and not get involved too. When these two start bumping heads, its going to effect the other two conferences, and of course the PAC and the ACC will pick up the left overs. C.Florida gets promoted to the new ACC to keep at least a battle for the state of Florida since SEC will snag both Miami and Florida St. Or the ACC will continue to help its Basketball Conference and snatch Louisville. Big 10 expansion to 16 teams: Notre Dame, Pittsburgh,Kansas, Iowa State, Missouri. SEC expansion to 16 teams: Texas,Texas A&M,Florida St and Miami PAC 10 expansion to 16: Texas Tech,Kansas St,Colorado, Oklahoma,Oklahoma St, Utah ACC expansion 16: West Virginia,Rutgers,Uconn,Syracuse, S.Florida, either promote C.Florida or snagg Louisville. This means that Baylor , Louisville if not selected to ACC, and Cincinnati will be the schools demoted from Automatic qualifier conference to most likley CUSA. All this shuffling will start in 2012 and probably end in 2014. Meaning a two year gap of uncertainity for allot of teams. No sorry my man, The Big East gets hammered, that will put it to an end, that'll happen in 2012. Also affected is the Big 12 , then what makes it worse is the SEC comes along and say hey Texas come on over, they say "We shoot fire why not" That really starts the mess, Pac10 snags some Big 12 members plus promote Utah or TCU or Boise State however they choose for their 16 member, and the ACC says finally, what the hell, remaining Big East teams come over too, Since S.Florida is in the BE after SEC snagg Florida st and Miami, they want state of Florida back.Um Kyle I did include Texas along with the Aggies, No cincinnati isnt in any of the new big conferences new alignment, and third sometime geography does play a huge role, going on the road to a conference thats spread too far apart gets pretty darn expensive. Marshall join CUSA and till this day wished they hadn't. And academically the new BIg 10 expanded schools do have a pretty darn good scholastic program. I pretty much used the consensus of what most writers on this subject feels what going to take place. Its a re-alignment they feel thats gonna put in place the SEC bid for that plus 1 playoff idea in actualityAceton you are the most obscene SOB I ever encountered. BE is formed just for Basketball, they never leave the conference for Football. The Big East combined with all those Basketball programs plus its football programs is still making much less money than the other conferences. When the Big 10 waves that 22 million in revenue share in front of Pittsburgh face, hmmm 22 million versus 7 to 9 million , geesh no I think we just stay and play Basketball. Are you fucking serious. Last year West Virginia with its final four appearence and the bowl appearence in football made 9 million, a record for that school, and this is a conference that splits its revenue. more

Resolved Question: how to improve my football skills..?

Ok im stuck right now.. I am about 5'6 and weigh 142 pounds right now. Im about to graduate high school soon. and in a year or so i am going to texas tech hopefully. The thing is i want to try to walk onto there football team. Right now im benching about 135 pounds and squating like 150 pounds. And im decently fast.. I can catch alright but not to great. But hope to imrpove on that also. I work out a lot prob. 4 times a week. The posistions i would want to go out for would be either runningback, wide receiver, or corner back.. I have about a year or a year in a half to improve everything i am weak at. Any tips? I would strongly appreciate it. more

Resolved Question: What will happen with conference re-alignments in NCAA Football?

My best guess is the Big Ten adds Missouri, Pitt, Rutgers, UConn and Notre Dame. Colorado, Nebraska, BYU and Utah join the Pac Ten. Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State join the SEC. The remaining Big East football schools (Cincinnati, Louisville, West Virginia, Syracuse, South Florida) and Big 12 schools (Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor and Texas Tech) are left scrambling to cobble together a conference and invite Memphis and TCU. The non-football Big East schools (Marquette, Georgetown, St. John's, Seton Hall, DePaul, Providence, Villanova) form their own conference and invite some A-10 schools - Temple, Xavier, Richmond, St. Louis, Dayton) Thoughts? more

Resolved Question: A young kid or a green beret?

I served in the army for 8 years and before that had also played football at Texas Tech. I was a volunteer firefighter and helped out at a local hospital in Lubbock. Now, my GPA of 3.3 wasn't exactly something to write home about, but as you could see I had to juggle my time and this was very hard to do. I am applying to work for a private company called Wilsonart International located in Central Texas. There is one other guy applying for the same job and he went to Yales and had a perfect 4.0 GPA, also did volunteer work, and is a class act. We are both very qualified for this job I believe, but my question is, who would you hire? more

Resolved Question: What is your Top 25 in College Football heading into Spring Practice?

If you don't feel like giving 25, fine, but here's mine. This is not my PRESEASON, it's just my Pre-Spring. 1. Alabama 2. Ohio State 3. Nebraska 4. Florida 5. Boise State 6. Oklahoma 7. TCU 8. Iowa 9. Georgia Tech 10. Texas 11. LSU 12. Oregon (worst offseason I think I've ever seen) 13. Miami (FL) 14. North Carolina 15. Auburn 16. Arkansas 17. Cincy 18. West Virginia 19. Navy 20. Kansas State 21. Southern Cal 22. Georgia 23. South Carolina 24. Texas A&M 25. ClemsonPenn State is #26 to me. My poll will change in the future, but the last time I put all my money on Penn State, they disappointed me. I predicted them to go 12-0 before a BCS Title Game loss to Florida. I ended up WAAAAY OFF. more

Resolved Question: Updated 2010 first round mock draft with explanations, any questions?

I received some feedback on my mock on a real football forum that I post on, and adjusted the picks appropriately and gave explanations/justifications for each pick. Enjoy St. Louis Rams (1) Ndamukong Suh DT Nebraska- Probably the best DT prospect since Warren Sapp. Strong, explosive, athletic and has perfect NFL technique, as close to a sure thing as there is in this draft. Detroit Lions (2) Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma- If not for Suh would be the premier defender in this draft. Similar skill set to Suh except uses a little more finesse and not as much raw power, and probably wouldn’t translate quite as well to 3-4 DE. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3) Eric Berry S Tennessee- The kind of playmaking ballhawk that you can build a defense around. Also a solid tackler, not many real holes in his game. Washington Redskins (4) Russell Okung LT Oklahoma State- If I were Shanahan & co. I’d look to trade down and stockpile a bunch of the second tier o-linemen, but Okung would give them a legit blindside blocker for whoever they put under center. Kansas City Chiefs (5) Rolando McClain ILB Alabama- Conventional wisdom dictates that this is too high for an inside linebacker, but McClain looks like he could be something special. If Aaron Curry could go top 3, I don’t see why McClain couldn’t go top 5. Seattle Seahawks (6) Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame- Matt Hasselbeck still has a year or two left in the tank, which is why now would be a good time to get their franchise QB. That year or two would go a long way in making sure that he’s prepared for the speed of the NFL. Cleveland Browns (7) Joe Haden CB Florida- So many holes, I just figured they’d go BPA. Also, the attention given to Darrelle Revis this year will probably raise the demand for potential shut down corners and lead to GMs and coaches looking for their own version of Revis Island. Oakland Raiders (8) Anthony Davis OT Rutgers- I’d be borderline shocked if Al Davis doesn’t pick some flashy, measurable-heavy guy like Derrick Morgan, but this would probably be the smartest pick. He’s versatile enough to play LT or RT, and has as high an upside as any OT in the draft. Buffalo Bills (9) Sam Bradford QB Oklahoma- I wouldn’t pick Bradford this high, but it wouldn’t shock me at all if Chan Gailey wants to go the flashy, high profile route and try to get their first legit franchise QB since Jim Kelly. Jacksonville Jaguars (10) Derrick Morgan DE Georgia Tech- The Jags could use some help up front on defense, and Morgan has the athleticism and explosiveness to be a force off the edge. Denver Broncos (11) Dan Williams NT Tennessee- I know its way early for Williams, but I didn’t want to bother with teams trading up and down, sorry, I’m lazy, and I want to at least pretend that I’m paying attention in class. Anyway, he’s arguably the best 3-4 NT in this class, and the kind of space-eater that the Broncos lack. Miami Dolphins (12) Sergio Kindle OLB Texas- At this point the best defensive player available. Versatile enough to play rush LB or strongside OLB in a 3-4 and could help out the ‘Fins on a few fronts. San Francisco 49ers (13) Bryan Bulaga OT Iowa- Maybe the best run blocker in this class, and would fill maybe the biggest hole on the entire 9ers team. Seattle Seahawks (14) Dez Bryant WR Oklahoma St.- After taking their franchise QB, they take his future best friend on the field and go-to receiver. If he played the whole season would have been a virtual top 10 lock, and still may go that high, but he ended up here for me. New York Giants (15) Earl Thomas S Texas- Maybe a little high, but the Giants could really use a ballhawk in the secondary to complement Kenny Phillips. Tennessee Titans (16) Brian Price DT UCLA- A great pass rusher and a high-motor guy and would fill the Titans need for an impact DT. San Francisco 49ers (17) C.J. Spiller HB Clemson- They already have one borderline elite RB and one very serviceable back, but Spiller is so dynamic and will make so many plays it’d be hard for them to pass him up. Pittsburgh Steelers (18) Mike Iupati OG Idaho- The Steelers obviously need to address the o-line, and the massive, mauling Iupati would give them a force to be reckoned with up front. Even though he didn’t look great at LT in the senior bowl, with some work he could end up there, and that’d be even better. Atlanta Falcons (19) Sean Weatherspoon OLB Missouri- Maybe the best 4-3 OLB in this class, and versatile enough to play any of the 3 LB positions. Could start right away and would inject some real talent into their LB corps. He’d also learn a lot from Mike Peterson while he’s on his way out. Houston Texans (20) Donovan Warren CB Michigan- Warren might be a reach at 20, but the Texans desperately need a CB. He has tons of potential that he never quite lived up to at Michigan, and with some good coaching could be a very legit corner in this league. Cincinnati Bengals (21) Taylor Mays S USC- SCincinnati Bengals (21) Taylor Mays S USC- Safety is probably the biggest need for the Bengals, and Mays has so much potential he’d be hard to pass up. New England Patriots (22) Jason Pierre-Paul DE/OLB USF- The Pats need for a serious pass rusher was painfully evident (at least to Pats fans), and even though JPP only emerged this year he’s a great athlete and a real force. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Pats coaching staff manages to get the most out of this kid. Green Bay Packers (23) Charles Brown LT USC- Anybody that paid the slightest bit of attention to the Pack this year knows that their most glaring need is the offensive line. Brown has the frame and athleticism of somebody like D’Brickashaw Ferguson, but isn’t quite as polished.Philadelphia Eagles (24) Brandon Graham DE Michigan- Not the most physically imposing or athletically impressive, but he just goes so hard and give 110% 110% of the time. I’m a Michigan fan so I’ve seen a lot of him and he’s done nothing but consistently blow me away with his play over the last year or two. Baltimore Ravens (25) Arrelious Benn WR Illinois- Uber-unproductive season dropped him out of the best WR conversation, but there’s no denying that the kid is a beast. Having a big time target like him would really help Flacco in his development, and with the emergence of Ray Rice would help give the Ravens a very balanced offense. Arizona Cardinals (26) Terrance Cody NT Alabama- Say what you want about his conditioning and work ethic, you can’t teach size, and with Bryan Robinson being 36 and Gabe Watson being a restricted free agent they could really use a force like Cody on the inside, and he would give them a legit NT for their transition to the 3-4.Dallas Cowboys (27) Bruce Campbell LT Maryland- Flozell Adams will be riding off into the sunset sooner rather than later, and Campbell looks like a more than adequate heir. San Diego Chargers (28) Jared Odrick DT (would obviously play DE in a 3-4) Penn State- Odrick would be a great bookend for Luis Castillo, and leave their line one good NT away from being top-notch. New York Jets (29) Jerry Hughes OLB TCU- By far the biggest need on the Jets D is for a pass rushing sack artist, and Jerry Hughes would hopefully be what Vernon Gholston was supposed to be. Minnesota Vikings (30) Brandon Spikes ILB Florida- No real glaring needs that couldn’t be plugged in middle-later rounds (unless Favre leaves), and at this point Spikes would be the BPA. He’d probably end up playing the outside in a 4-3.New Orleans Saints (31) Arthur Jones DT Syracuse- I could see them going with a DE like Carlos Dunlap or Everson Griffen, but Jones would give them the run stuffing DT that they lack, and is versatile enough to play the outside. Indianapolis Colts (32) Jason Fox LT Miami- No real glaring needs and you can never have too much depth on the o-line.New Orleans Saints (31) Arthur Jones DT Syracuse- I could see them going with a DE like Carlos Dunlap or Everson Griffen, but Jones would give them the run stuffing DT that they lack, and is versatile enough to play the outside. Indianapolis Colts (32) Jason Fox LT Miami- No real glaring needs and you can never have too much depth on the o-line.PiazzaJordan- You don't have to tell me that Clausen is the best QB in this class, but he's not worth a #1 overall. Games are won in the trenches, and Suh is that good.Since 1966- What Sergio Kindle from Texas have you been watching, and who has him as a 2nd rounder? The kid is a legit top 20 pick in a very deep OLB class. I'm not a Texas fan by any stretch (if anything I dislike them, I rooted for 'Bama in the Championship game). I'd go on about him, but you read my explanation. Also the way he played in the Championship game will do nothing but wonders for his draft status. more

Resolved Question: About the National Title Game?

Texas vs Alabama, Alabama came out on top, but im not a Texas fan, and im def. not a Alabama fan, but i realize both are good teams. but honestly, what does Alabama have to celebrate? they beat a team with a FRESHMAN QB that never played a college game in his life. WOWWWWW, So Great. The SEC has no class, i used to be a big SEC fan, but the teams get so lucky with everything. like that. And it just sickens me that they honestly can call the SEC the toughest conference in all of college football? seriously? how? they get lucky in all of their games against other conferences, but look at Virginia Tech and Tennessee, TECH OWNED THEM. and if it would have been mid season TECH could have beat bama, im sorry i just kinda rambled on but Alabama fans have no logic to why they are celebrating like they just beat the 18-0 New England Patriots, i promise you if Colt would have been in there the game would have been totally different.oh wow? back whenever they had 10000 more scholarships than anyone else? ROLL ELEPHANTS!your right Answer #4, but not everyone has to try and treat it like they beat the real texas team.terrible now? yeah.. but theyre are 4 or 5 teams that are coming along pretty good. the ACC is getting better every year.SEC POWERHOUSE TAKES DOWN FRESHMAN QUARTER BACK WITH NO EXPERIENCE. wow. right an article on that? id love to see Virginia Tech get another shot at bama, they would rip them APART. and Boise State could do the same.and you apparently didn't see alabama get lucky against tennessee either. more

Resolved Question: Would Alabama and Texas be in the championship if there were an 8 team College Football playoff?

Georgia Tech Ohio State Texas Cincinnati Boise State Oregon Alabama FloridaGT is there instead of TCU, or Iowa, or whoever, because however bad the ACC was this year, they would have an automatic bid to any playoff system created. I personally don't mind, as if there's a playoff, it would be more exciting, however they structure it. (the way I formated it, the big 6 conferences got automatics, one conference could have a second, ranked in the top 8, and one non-big 6 conference champion is in the mix, this year Boise State) more

Resolved Question: If Tom Cable gets fired (And I hope he does) Who should be the Oakland Raiders new head coach?

I'm a die hard Raiders fan and so far it been another disappointing season. We still don't have an offensive line, we still can't stop the run, and the team chemistry just keeps getting worse. I think Al Davis has a lot to do with it. He wants things his way and doesn't care what anyone thinks. Unlike Jed York who does what is best for the team. The 49ers have improved so much. The O line is good, the have one of the best defenses in the league and the team chemistry has improved so much. In a year or two they can be the NFC Version of the New England Patriots (This coming from a Raiders fan.) Personally, I want Al Davis to do what's best for the team and hire someone that can lead this team. Someone like Bill Cowher, Marty Schottenheimer, or Herm Edwards. an maybe hire Jim Zorn or Texas Tech former head coach Mike Leach as offensive coordinator or maybe even Charlie Weiss, who already has NFL Expierence as the former Offensive coordinator for the Patriots. Someone to help JaMarcus Russell reach his full potential. it's unfair that some people are already labeling him as a bust, when he has nobody to throw to. Also, he doesn't have an offensive line to protect him. It took Steve Young around 7 - 8 years to reach his potential and look at him now. Hall Fame Quarterback and 3 time Super Bowl champion, 2 time NFL MVP, and multi time pro bowler. I'm mean yeah he had probably the greatest quarterback ever to play the game of football, joe montanta to show him the ropes, but still it takes time for a quarterback to develop. Look how many year it took guys like Aaron Rodgers, Jake Delhomme, Carson Palmer, and even Alex Smith to play solidly. People say "Well, it didn't take guys like Joe Flacco, Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, and Jay Cutler that long to develop when they were rookies. That's different. Joe Flacco was already on a good team with a good offensive line. Flacco had guys like Adam Terry and Willie Anderson to protect him, he also had derrick mason and mark clayton to throw to. Tom Brady had mike compton and damien woody to protect him and also Troy Brown, Terry Glenn, and David Patten to throw to. Matt Ryan had guys like Wayne Gandy to protect him and he also had Michael Jenkins and Roddy White to throw to. Peyton Manning had Tarik Glenn to protect him and Marvin Harrisson to throw to. Carson Palmer had Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmanzadeh and also he had william anderson to protect him. those quarterbacks had good players around them, JaMarcus Russell doesn't. He only has Good running backs like Fargas, McFadden, and Michael Bush around him. Although , Johnny Lee Higgins isn't that bad, and Zach Miller is probably his only reliable target that he has. Louis Murphy isn't that bad also, DHB I don't know about him yet, still to early. I think that the only way for the raiders to be a great team again is for Al Davis to leave the team, but that won't happen in years. It's most likely that Tom Cable will be fired because of all the distractions he's cause this season (Choking and threatening his asst coach.,,etc....). If the raiders do indeed fire Tom Cable, who do you think should be the coach for the raiders? I think it should either be Cowher, Schottenheimer, or Herm Edwards. more

Resolved Question: No question...just facts..Texas Tech....feel free to chime in..?

If your not a Texas Tech fan, let me stop you now, because you really couldn't care less. WHAT TO LOOK FOR: Raider recruiting was pretty good, this is rumored to be the best recruiting class Tech has signed. Alot of talent coming to the defense as well as the offense has gained some more top pick players. We picked up a young gun from Denton, Texas who was a four star quarterback, Scotty Young. Delans Griffin from Clinton, Oklahoma this four star running back will add a little more dazzle to the run game. Rumor has it that Kadron Boone, from Ocala, Florida could be the next Michael Crabtree for the Raiders. The defense has loaded up on defensive ends with, Scott Smith from El Dorado, Kansas, Jackson Richards from Southlake, Texas, and Tre'Vante Porter from Mid West City, Oklahoma are all hghly recruited four stars pass rushers. A total of 6 four star players were recruited, and 18 three star players. I think we can only expect good things to come for our defense from Coach Ruffin McNeil. As long as the offense doesn't change up, with the arrival of a new head coach, the offense is reloaded to replace the key losses in the next couple of years. SHEFFIELD VS. POTTS: Both have great arms, and are capable of moving the raiders up and down the field, but which one is going to put more wins in the win column? My personal belief is to go with Steven Sheffield. He is more agile which is a plus, meaning he has the ability to move around and create time, allowing things to open up down field, or scrambling to avoid turnovers. Potts isn't so agile, when pressured he is sure to throw off his back foot and make rookie mistakes. I believe that Potts has the better arm, but Sheffield is more effecient and more accurate. In the end, depending on what happens from now to the beginning of the next football season, I am expecting an overall good season from the Red Raiders. I am expecting a 7-4 season, but am hoping for a GREAT season!! WRECK 'EM TECH!!! more

Resolved Question: Can we now put to rest that the SEC is the best conference?

Obviously theyve been way overrated. The Big Ten is the new star of college football. Even Mich State who were 14 players short nearly beat Texas Tech and Ohio State has become a powerhouse second to none. The Buckeyes could beat either team playing for the championship. Penn State rolled. Wisconsin...Life is good for my beloved Big Ten ! more

Resolved Question: What is the best team to use on NCAA Football 2010?

I have like a 9 and 32 record and I'm still getting smashed online the only teams I've won with are Georgia Tech and Georgia. I have tried with Texas, Virginia Tech, Florida and Alabama. Voting Question: Whats Your Opinion on the Tx. Tech & James' Family vs. Mike Leach situation?

SUBJECT: MIKE LEACH VS. TEXAS TECH UNIV. & JAMES FAMILY Now as a Raider fan, since I could remember first watching football, I am deeply shocked by the actions of Texas Tech against Coach Mike Leach. I thought it was extremely unfair and one-sided to fire Coach Leach as soon as they did without him being able to proove that he didn't do what he was being accused of. I have heard all of the news broadcast on the television, internet, word of mouth and so forth, but I still have a feeling that Mike Leach is innocent on this matter. I believe that, as Coach Leach and receivers coach, Coach Lincoln Riley, that they were to discipline Adam James for lack of effort at practice. He had a concussion and the coaches went forth with the reprimands. I think that Adam James didn't like the reprocussions of his actions, as he was walking around the field slowly with little effort in street clothes, hat backwards and with his sunglasses on. When he was told to go stand in the dark equipment garage, he was upset with his coaches saying, "they weren't doing their jobs as coaches...etc." The second time he was put in the media room at Jones Stadium, he was really angry and wanted to get back at Coach Leach. He walked into the electrical closet that was connected to the media room, and made his little 10 seconds of terror video.(check the video out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZW-vTsPV5A ) He told his daddy, Craig James, cried and showed him his cell phone video he made, and told his horrible story. Craig James had already been involved at Texas Tech's President, Chancellor, and Athletic Director, and position coaches, about why his boy wasn't getting more playing time, called the school and stirred everything up. I'm sure he used his job position at ESPN to get things moving in a quick fashion, and get to a happy ending. On the other hand, I am sure something happened and Tech ended up not wanting to fork out the money on the 12.7 million - 5 year extension on his contract. I think Texas Tech caught alot of flack from the Alumni about this and took a quick way out. Why is it that the best coach in Texas Tech football history, get fired on the first media attention situation? In the end, as a true Raider fan, you REALLY hate to see the guy who complete changed Tech football, and put them in the chase for the Big XII Championship every year. get fired over a spoiled rich kid, and his daddy with a big microphone, and a University that wants to be great at a cheap price. Hopefully, the next head coach doesn't come in and try to changes up the effecient pass attack offense and run us back down to a less than .500 ball club. WRECK 'EM TECH!!! KEEP THOSE GUNS UP!!!If you look at the videos of the rooms Leach had Adams at, you would see that both locations were pretty decent size rooms. Jails aren't even that big. The electrcial closet that James said he was put it was attached to the media room at Jones Stadium. The trainers were on the outside of the media room, and could not see James when he entered the smaller room and made his video. He was not "locked up in a cage." If James didn't want to be disciplined for lack of effort, he should try harder instead of trying to piggy back off of his daddy's name. You people are so quick to go with the poor little kid, when football is a tough physical sport, and coaches need to be able to discipline the kids in order for them to become a unit and play as a unit. The fact that he had a concussion was just conceidental, and he took that and ran with it. more
