The Real Texas Chainsaw Massacre Questions asked
Resolved Question: Texas Chainsaw Massacre real or fake?
Ok people I need some help.... I KNOW that the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is fake that it is loosely done on the live of Ed Gein, but my friend and husband are INSISTENT that it is real and really happen on highway 90 in Texas. I know that that is just where the house is that they used can someone please point me in the right direction to show them that it is fake... That yes Ed Gein did wear "leather" skin on his face and that is how leather face came along. LOL I feel like we are in high school but I enjoy being right. ThanksI know its based on a true story, but it DID NOT happen in Texas it was in Wisconsin and they only know of 2 victims that he killed. They found many body parts but cannot confirm or deny that Ed Gein did it. moreVoting Question: "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Real or Reel?"?
Leatherface is a fictional character. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre never happened in real life. Despite the disclaimer at the beginning of the original film, which touts the movie as "...an account of a tragedy which befell a group of five youths...For them an idyllic summer afternoon drive became a nightmare...This video cassette is based on a true incident and is definitely not for the squeamish..." in truth The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was not really based on a true story. The filmmakers just wanted people to think it was a true story, so more people would go see the movie. It was also a bit of a joke on their part, to see if people would believe it was real. This is not an unheard-of tactic: for example, the 1999 movie the Blair Witch Project was also touted as a true story by the filmmakers, when in truth it is completely fictional and all the actors in it are alive and well to this day. The disclaimer at the beginning of the 1996 movie Fargo also asserts that it is a true story, when it is actually pure fiction. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was inspired by a true story, which is a long way away from being based on a true story. The truth is that the director, Tobe Hooper, got the idea for the Leatherface character from the real case of the serial killer Ed Gein. The rest is completely fictional. Ed Gein was only one man; he did not belong to a family of chainsaw murderers, and he lived in Wisconsin, not Texas. Ed Gein murdered at least two women, one of whom was found hanging disemboweled and decapitated in his house, and also allegedly engaged in necrophilia and cannibalism with his victims' corpses. He did not, however, murder them with a chainsaw. I have included a link to the snopes.com page about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I have also included a link to a page that compares the Ed Gein murders to the movie. Source:http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_the_Texas_Chainsaw_Massacre_real moreVoting Question: The true story behind "The Amityville Horror"?
I know the movie is based on a true story, but I also know that most horror films that are usually exaggerate just about everything to an unbelievable level (as seen in The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc). I just saw the 1979 version of The Amityville Horror the other night, and I thought it was pretty interesting because of the fact that it's supposed to be true. But my question is - what about it was really true, and what wasn't? What's the REAL story behind the house? moreResolved Question: What are good Real Horror movies?
I want to see a horror movie that is based on a true event that happened a while ago e.g The texas chainsaw massacre but better moreResolved Question: I'm looking for a Scary movie?
I'm looking for a real scary movie. Before you start listing them, you should know that I'm really hard to please and that I've almost given up on a /real/ scary movie. I don't like the bloodbath movies, I just find them ridiculous. So that puts out movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Saw and whatever else is out there. I've seen movies like The Hills Have Eyes, Silent Hill, 1408, Ju-on, Ringu, But if they aren't "funny scary" then they are what I'd like to call "Meh" scary. In case you're wondering, Funny scary entails the movie to be so something that it's funny. Could be so stereotypical, could be so gimmicky, etc etc. And Meh scary is that it /could/ be scary if they put a bit more effort into it. I'm thinking I like the movies that play on your mind rather than the outright in your face violence like The Orphan. If possible I'm also looking for a movie that will have English (Or Japanese) subtitles, too. I'm not Japanese, I'm Canadian, but I have a friend who is here from Japan and is also interested in a movie that is not "funny" scary. I know I'm difficult to please but if you have any movies like this I would like to hear about them and watch a couple. I'm tired of anticipating a good movie and having it end up be a disappointment. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Why are Texans so persistent in believing "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was real?
I live in Texas and get irritated when people I know insist "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was real. The director of the movie has said it was inspired by the serial killer Ed Gein from Wisconsin and the "true story" part was a marketing gimmick. Yet everywhere you go here, there are people who absolutely insist something similar did happen here in the '60s or '70s. I've heard people claim they remember reading about it in the papers back then--many people make this claim that they remember reading about it. When you tell them the director said it was based on a killer from Wisconsin, they say it's a cover-up of the real story or something. It's irritating, almost like people want it to be true so badly, they'll lie about it. Has anyone ever heard of an actual event in Texas like this, or is every one of these people just stupid? Because this isn't just a little belief, it's very widespread here and practically 2 out of 4 people believe it was true. moreResolved Question: Was the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Real?

I am writing a paper on Alfred Hitchcock 1960 film, Psycho. I need to write it on how it was influenced and popular in this time period. This is what i have so far: It was Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 classic, Psycho, that not only terrified people of their own showers, but it completely changed the face of suspense and horror films. One of the greatest thrillers of all time, Psycho, was based on true events from the real-life psychopath, Edward Gein. Billy Joel even made Psycho part of his mega hit, “We Didn’t Start the Fire.“ "Eating the flesh and drinking the blood? I never felt capable of doing' that. That is a catholic thing isn’t it? I do not think my mother would have approved." When asked about cannibalism, these are the very words of yours truly, Edward Gein. The characters of Leather face in Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs, and of course, Norman Bates in Psycho, were all based upon his actions, behavior and artifacts found by police in his home. Ed was the serial killer that gave Alfred Hitchcock the brilliant idea of the Bates Motel. Im not really sure what else to write about, if you have any ideas please let me know. And i would love some feedback on what i have written now! moreResolved Question: does it annoy anyone else about certain movies?

I tried to convince my friend that the opening black and white scene of this movie is fake, but he stands by his conviction that it is indeed real footage. Can anyone provide a credible source as to whether or not it's real? Also, I know it was based on Ed Gien etc, just want to know about the opening scene with the two cops. Me and my family do a lot for halloween when it comes to scaring people. We have many props and such and dress the house out and make it look haunted. It is August now so it is time to start thinking about halloween costumes. I am wanting to be Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and have my costume very realistic. Now my brother was the children's Leatherface in '08, and we bought him the Licensed Texas Chainsaw Massacre chainsaw. It is made of cheap plastic, and is very thin, and all around sucks. I was wondering if anybody had a safe alternative for a chainsaw. My dad and I were thinking about taking the chainsaw off of the chain, but oh here I've read that it can 1. burn the clutch up, or cause other internal problems. or 2. fall apart. Are either of these true. My main goal this year is to either just take the chainsaw blade off of the chainsaw and it function safely and properly, or my dad and I build an alternative that can be revved up like a real chainsaw. This prop will only be used for this purpose, so I was just wondering if anybody had a safe (non-sharp) alternative. Thank you. moreResolved Question: was the Texas Chainsaw Massacre real?

my ambition is to knock 'Cannibal Holocaust' right off its <beep> perch....and make 'the excorcist' seem like a disney cartoon. and any other 'highly acclaimed gore/horror' flick ever made - i want to bring them down to their knees, and re-write history. my ambition is to create/make something so sinister, so nerve tinglingly disturbing and upsetting to the audience (look how little next to NO gore was in 'texas chainsaw massacre' , yet for me its one of the most 'disturbing' movies ever made/written). I want to create the setting in a remote woodland somewhere in the USA, if not then some jungle in south america... if you think im out of my depth - one of my ideas for a scene in my prospective movie revolves around a womans chest cavity bursting open full of lava worms and roaches ! yay ! ^^ also i want to make this look 'real' of course, so thats a challenge heh. I would also include wounded peopels injuries getting severe over the duration of a movie, so i wonder what kind of sfx i could use for gore and 'infections'. Can this be achieved under a budget of say, just , $1000 ??? i may not even use that budget entirely - you see, the idea is to end up creating something so ghastly, grotesque and shocking to the senses - that I produce something which ultimately gets banned in over 100 countries ^^ any advice folks ? novice film makers ? gore flick fans ?and an estranged evangelical christian couple who 'love thy neighbour' and let you lodge in their humble abode, only to place steamed human brains and gut on dinner plates as they tuck into it - not before saying grace (if this would be offensive to chrsitianity, i'll ommit it and include it inmy uncut version ^^)oh and a disorientated suited and booted 'businessman' who keeps appearing out of the blue screaming 'im late for my meeting', in the jungle carying a briefcase - but the back of his body is naked with a monkey's head sticking out of his rectum. moreResolved Question: If the texas chainsaw massacre wasnt real, are those police footage videos fake aswell?
You know the ones at the start and end of the film. i guess they are but i sort of want it to be real coz it makes it more scary and cool. moreResolved Question: Would you try my second movie quiz?

I know this movie got its idea from Ed Gein but was the footage at the end with the police officer getting killed a real thing that happened? moreVoting Question: I guess I have a psycological question?
So, first off, please do not think I am crazy. I just need answers (and not rude ones either). ;) Well, I don't know if this is like a certain type of "disorder" or anything but I think I have a "fear" of human "destruction". Like, the kind of stuff crazy people like Hitler did during the holocaust, like all the horrific experimentation, murdering, etc. And true stories in movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, how he mutilated the bodies and stuff. And I know that most people don't like stuff like this, obviously, but I don't just see it and let it go. If it's a movie I saw it on, I just replay it over and over in my mind, even though it freaks me out. I don't know what to do. I watched a movie one time (discussed it in my last question) that affected me so much I had to sleep in my parents room, and I am 16 years old!!!!! So, is this a real problem and if it is or even if it's not, do you have any advice for me? Should I go talk to someone about it? Thank you so much!!! ;) moreResolved Question: What is the most terrifying movie ever?
I'm asking a serious question here, people. I don't want you to answer with some sort of stupid thing like "THE HANNAH MONTANA MOVIE LOL GET IT???? IM SO CLEVUR LOLZ" or the like. I want real answers. What is the scariest movie you've ever seen? I mean, HORRIFYING. I want something that'll scare me to death. Don't go there with the Exorcist or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre either. I've seen both and they weren't scary at all. moreResolved Question: is the real texas chainsaw massacre dead or alive?
