Resolved Question: Are anti-immigration people going to pay for the mass deportation they want?

and how are we suppose to rebound from spending those billions to deport them, the billions lost to the economy and all the US companies, especially farms that will no longer be able to go about their business? Do they have a plan? or do they just want to deport them all without regard to the rest of us tax payers? http://edition.cnn.com/2007/US/09/12/deportation.cost/index.html ICE: Tab to remove illegal residents would approach $100 billion http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2008-04-24-3091305939_x.htm Study: Illegal worker crackdown would cost employers $1B http://blogs.chron.com/immigration/archives/2008/05/post_128.html If the 8.1 million undocumented immigrants who cut lawns, bus tables and perform other jobs disappeared overnight, the nation's economy would lose nearly $1.8 trillion in annual spending. Texas, the second-hardest-hit state after California, would lose 1.2 million undocumented workers and $220.7 billion in expenditures. Resolved Question: Should I go to Baylor or the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign?

I live on the outskirts of Austin, Texas and i really want to go law school one day. I have two brothers under 12 and my mom is a single parent (less than 30 grand a year income). Ive been accepted to Baylor, Purdue, Tech and UIUC and a few more should be coming in. I plan to major in Business and minor in prelaw. I was awarded a $20,000 scholarship from Baylor, but i have some problems... 1.) out of state tuition for UIUC is 40,000, Baylors is the same (in State). And i dont know how much financial aid/scholarships ill receive from the UIUC. I need to make a decision quick. 2.) I dont know how prestigious Baylor really is, I know that it is a good school (tier 1), but it doesnt compare in alot of fields. 3.) Does undergrad prestige even account in your chances of getting into a top law school? 4.) With all the aid, is a private school actually cheaper? 5.) Waco sucks, but Illinois is so far My main concern is getting into a top law school, but money might get in the way. Thanks for any responses. P.S. I love the idea of having a great undergrad school on my resume, just in case law school doesn't work out. But can i afford it especially if i do get into a top grad school? more

Resolved Question: What is Waco, Texas like to live in?

I may be checking out a job possibility there and I was wondering about how different it would be from life in Massachusetts. I was also wondering about how religious people are there since I don't really like religion of any sort. more

Resolved Question: Could I have cracked my skull?

About 2 and a half weeks ago, I went on a road-trip to visit a relative. It was raining really hard when I left and pretty much most of the 500 or so miles I drove through Texas. I stopped in Waco for a potty break, and on the way back to my car, I slipped on the slippery curb, fell down, (tearing tendons in my foot in the process) and smacked my forehead on the pavement. I saw stars (or gray dots) and was initially dizzy and unable to stand up. Since everyone who saw me fall just stared at me, I felt compelled to get "undizzy" and hobble back to my car. The pain in my left foot was unbearable and only overshadowed by the growing painful lump on my forehead. Ok, long story short: My foot is in an ortho boot for the next several weeks. Still painful and swollen, but can walk better with boot and a cane. My forehead bump has gone down, but I still get headaches right in that area... and when I press on that spot (just above right eyebrow) it still hurts. Is it possible I might have fractured my skull? Not that there's anything I can do about it... just curious as to why it might still be painful to the touch. more

Resolved Question: When some women that knew where & what, got with navy pilots, then screamed sexual assault & charged the navy?

pilots, there was an immediate investigation and condemnation of the pilots, so why was there a delay in finding out if the Ft. Hood Massacre is an act of war? Hasan was a planted terrorist? or how much his mosque was involved? Just now they got a thought about searching the garbage from the mosque. They said they needed a court order, since when do you need a court order to search stuff thrown out in a dumpster? I believe that the stalling and cover up is coming out of an embarrassed pentagon and the white house. Wake up you sons of the " minute men" clean your muskets and be prepared for more attacks. they think we are weak, confused, and stupid, and a lot of us are. Political correctness is throttling our voices, and threatening us with lawsuit and swat teams,. similar to Ruby Ridge and Waco Texas. more

Resolved Question: Breaking News--shootings at FT. Hood, Texas?

How are Republicans going to blame Obama? FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) -- The U.S. Army has closed its massive Army base at Fort Hood, Texas, amid reports that several people have been shot and killed at the post. The Web site of the base in central Texas has posted an alert that says, "Effective immediately Fort Hood is closed." The Web site said that units at the base have been ordered to account for all personnel. The site says, "This is not a Drill. It is an Emergency Situation." Several television stations in Texas say several people were both killed and wounded in the shooting. Voting Question: Do people actually think this?

A contact of mine asked a question about changing the names of holidays. Here it is: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aruuc5PurjmSkwcoG3cIF7Dty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091030145305AA9bMFO&show=7#profile-info-cfda9b5d078d37da24e0ff1809dee8d5aa "Sunni" had some interesting remarks. He or she thinks that the U.S. government is Christian. I mean no disrespect here, but I find that notion to be ludicrous. If our government were Christian run, it would not have allowed 9/11 to happen. It would not suppress information and deliberately lie to the people. It would not kill innocent children, as was done at Waco, Texas in 1993. I think that the government is Machiavellian. To think that this government in America is a Christian government seems profoundly naive to me. What is your view? more

Resolved Question: What is your opinion of the events in Waco, Texas?

I just finished watching the Documentary "Waco: Rules of Engagement" and holy cr*p our government just butchered those people...Actually they killed Four, and that was only because they rolled up guns blasting and only after they refused to stop firing on them... Also, when the ATF ran out of bullets, the Branch Dividians LET THEM WALK AWAY, they could have butchered every last one of them, but they let them walk away instead and were still gassed then burnedSomehow before the event, David Koresh found out they were going to be doing the raid and he invited them to come over and look around, the ATF refused because they wanted to basicaly do this as a big publicity stuntThe ATF has no jursidiction over child abuse issues, they only added those elements to the search warrent to sensationalize the event...Im not saying they killed them for Publicity, I am saying they did the raid for publicity... When things went wrong and 4 ATF agents got killed, they came back and Had the hold out and killed them all either because of heavy handed and Excessive force or revenge more

Resolved Question: Homeless with pregnant wife....need help?

Please do not judge nor make fun of us. Times have been very tough for us. I got laid off of my job and i live in a small town. There is not much here. We need help. My wife is stubborn because there are programs that will help her, but not me. There is a housing program but the waiting list is 6 months. We need something by tonight. I am scared, i love her so much and she is pregant with our child. Things just didn't work out the way we planned. She is mexican and her family does not like the fact i am white and has disowned her. I grew up in foster homes so i have no family. Its just us. I am not sure what to do. She is small and scared and does not want to be seperate from me. Is there no place that will help a man and his pregnant wife? Most places help families but they difine a family a women and man with children. Not pregnant women. I have a new job, its not great, but i need a place just for a couple of weeks until i get paid. Apartments are cheap here so it won't take long. I am in waco, texas. Please do not respond with hate. Most people have not been that understanding. more

Resolved Question: Should I double major in college?

I'm about to graduate high school--actually... I'm a senior this year, and yes, I am about to graduate, in June, though. I'm taking useless classes that I won't be using or needing in my life for anything specific--like AP Biology, Marketing, Recordkeeping, Intro to Business, oh please. Just 'weed out/blow off' courses needed to fill my schedule up. I'm thinking about double majoring in Music-(General), and Asian Studies. Why? You might ask? Lmao. I myself am Asian--Laotian to be exact. I want to learn more about Asian countries, including my own, and perhaps a little of the language[s]--Korean, Mandarin/Chinese, Thai, Lao [I know Lao and Thai may be similar, but there are many different words, as well], Vietnamese, Japanese, etc. I also want to major in music because I want to do something with it. To be honest, I have done absolutely NOTHING music related in my entire high school career, of 4 years haha. BUT, I'm hoping to try and make music, and inspire people with it. I used to be in choir during all of my elementary years in school, and I've done band--played percussion all throughout middle school, too. I spend my entire life living in music, and I didn't even realize it. I have so much appreciation for it, and I want to learn more about it, and see if there are ways I can apply it for the good of people like me [Laotians]/Asians, that's why I'm considering double majoring. Do you think it'd be super tough for me? Does this sound too absurd? I'm being totally serious about this. My friends tell me it's going to be extremely tough for me to get a job after college though... I don't care though. I'm still going to do lots of thinking along the way. Any thoughts? Advice? I have my sights set on going to Baylor University in Waco, Texas--since they offer bachelors' degrees in music and asian studies. I already live in Texas, and have been, for quite some time. I know that Baylor costs the same for everyone though, about $27+ grand, for in and out of state students. more
