Do you honestly care where they put their houses of worship, or what religions they allow to do business where they choose to allow it? Aside from an occasional Broadway musical, Greenwich Village in the early 1960s and a few rides on the Statin Island Ferry, I've never thought much of NYC nor of the people who live there. Seems to me those people have more in common with Londoners than they have with the rest of America. The city is a filthy, rotting, stinking hell hole. How is it anyone outside NY comes to think something there is a shrine because some buildings and people got destroyed by someone? .Do you feel more kinship with New Yorkers than you do, say, with Australians? New Zealanders? Brazilians? Gujaratis? Is the Twin Towers tragedy a greater tragedy than it would have been if Montreal had been destroyed? Isn't the reality that you'd have gladly given NYC away [if you didn't live there] to anyone who wanted it before 9/11? Everyone in the US used to whine about what a lot of grubs lived there. Did martyrdom of a couple of thousand, three thousand New Yorkers make saints of them? How'd you feel when the US government wiped out all those people outside Waco, Texas? Did you feel any kinship for them? Would you be offended it a government office was built within sight of the ruins?Anne: Nor do I. Thanks for the reply. Jimmy and the lady from NY: Thanks for the replies. I can understand how a New Yorker would have different ideas about the issue, NY lady, though you didn't say. I appreciate the fact you're from there. moreVoting Question: who went Baylor University?

I live in Dallas, and went to high school near Waco, so I am very familiar with Texas in general and this region in particular. But I've got to be honest - considering the number of people in this region, there is very, very little "excitement" or activity going on in town. The US Census estimates that the Dallas-Ft. Worth metro area has slightly over 6.8 million people. But it doesn't feel that way; stuff is very spread out. It doesn't feel like a massive city at all. Mostly, it feels like an endless wave of suburbs. I mean, I just got back from Madrid. Madrid's metro region has about 6 million people, but it felt far more active and exciting than Dallas. Madrid had clubs open all night, crowded streets full of partiers for miles on end, way more concerts and other entertainment events, and so on. Dallas has a few areas that are okay, but nothing very exciting. You've got the Museum District and the Stockyards in Ft. Worth and so on, but compared to a place like Madrid, it's really sad. Will Dallas eventually "grow into" its size, or will it remain sort of a boring place? moreResolved Question: Ok I have a Branch Davidian Bible booklet that has the Universal Publishing Company of Mount Carmle Waco Texas?

If a person is a Christian that seems to be acceptable. If a person prays to God and talks to him on a regular basis, that is also acceptable. OK you all know that Mexicans come from many tribes and some of those tribes have spread from the west to the east, south, north and started there own customs and groups religions and etc.. we all came from the same Indians in the very beginning. (just the race of indigenous ppl ) those that went south had been raped and stuff by the Spanish that had come a while after.. those that were in the region that is now considered United States Of America had really not been traced by the Spaniards.. and those Indians are considered Native Americans now... but bak then those arias like Texas and Arizona were part of Mexico and some of those Native Americans were known as Mexicans or Aztecs Mayans etc.. well if those states where still Mexico's they still would have been Mexican's for some whites or blacks... But they are not... they are our tribe friends... except we Mexicans have Spanish blood diff religion and speech. we are practically as 1 and it has been prooven... no matter what happened between the Spanish and all kinds of tribes in the U. S. and Mexico we all come from indigenous ppl of the Americas and Mexico... Im not racist. i love all kinds of ppl but what i really do think is that Mexicans aren't illegal aliens and stuff to America but we are America! WE ARE (AZTLAN) please look up Aztlan... its west and south united states and mexico b4 there where any other kinds of races. I know this isn't necessarily a political question, but I am interested in the experiences of those I see and have come to know on here, and even those I disagree with on most things. We grew up very poor, my brothers and I. My mother worked as an assistant manager at Dairy Queen for most of my childhood and my father as an iron worker/welder since he was 15 until his death at 40. Sometimes my dad would work two jobs and we hardly saw him, while my mother worked very long hours. I know my story is not unique in this regard. We grew up on the shores of Lake Whitney in a little fishing village called Laguna Park, located between Dallas and Waco, Texas with a population of no more than 600. I spent most of my time barefoot, running around in the forests and around the lake and getting sunburned. We were the "Lake Rats", considered lower class by those from Clifton, the location of the school I went to. We were the messy, poor and disheveled ones with hand-me-down clothes. The popular kids never came from Laguna Park, and if they did they usually denied it and preferred to be driven to school rather than take the bus. Now, I am not exaggerating when I say "poor". It was to the point where those who brought their own lunches (as opposed to those of us who got free lunches) were considered by us to be "rich". I'm not kidding. Now, we were poor even by the standards of Laguna Park and we knew it. I remember going to where my dad worked and helping him by handing him tools and finding the right pieces of iron for him, as well as running drinks back and forth for him and the guys he worked with. When I was done for the day he would pay me based on what we had agreed to. Thinking back, OSHA would have a cow if they knew that a boy of 9 was in a metal shop helping his dad. But I don't think it was a negative experience in the least. Yes, I got my share of scrapes, bruises and sore muscles, but I enjoyed it and it gave me an immense respect for the working man which I carry to this day. I knew only a fraction of the true work my dad had to do and even that was enough to leave me exhausted all day. The last time I worked with him was when I was 15, just a few months shy of his death. I learned that just because I may know something a person does not-this does not make them stupid. I never learned to weld, though my father was hinting that he would soon teach me as he taught my two older brothers (they were actually half-brothers from my mother's previous marriage). A society cannot work with only welders, doctors or architects, nor can it work with only grocers, landscapers or garbage men. We each do our little part to help the country run it's day to day affairs. So I learned to respect and learn from the various skills and knowledge of others. I will probably never weld for as long as I live, or plant crops or give you a life saving vaccine-but neither will I ever disrespect these people or look down on their hard earned skills. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100517/ap_on_re_us/us_texas_governor_temporary_mansion "Anybody who is not offended probably doesn't know what's going on," said Rep. Jim Dunnam of Waco, the Texas House Democratic leader. To spend so much while asking state agencies to spend less, Dunnam said, is "just rank hypocrisy." "The records detailing the amount of public money spent on Perry's temporary home came from the governor's office, the State Preservation Board and the Texas Facilities Commission, and were obtained by the AP through the Texas Public Information Act. Perry's office is still fighting the release of at least 10 e-mails about his temporary residence." What exactly is his office trying to hide? "Perry's aides add the governor, who has made officeholder transparency a signature issue of his 2010 campaign, has fully complied with ethics and transparency laws that govern such spending.
