Resolved Question: How long would 6000 euro (8000 united states dollars) last YOU travelling southeast asia?

Im talking about travelling indonesia, malaysia, thailand, cambodia and vietnam (and maybe singapore not sure about the expense though) but not on too tight a budget and going solo if possible (or with a group or couple). Going to the main places (i.e bali, jakarta, kuala lumpur, kho phangan samui, bkk, phuket, phnom penh, saigon and more)with a good bit partying and seeing some of the main attractions and flying the long journeys (bkk to bali via air asia). Also staying in cheap (but nice) hotels and eating local (and the odd big mac haha) food. Even if you budget yourself far less (to prolong your visit) or spend more than above would love to hear your answers. Cheers. p.s mine would be 2 months (including my return flight home) is this too little for too much in your opinion.??i was in laos the internet is faster than my country...i didn't add it coz im not going there this time more

Voting Question: How can I get back my iPod Touch?!?

I got an iPod touch for Christmas and when I went to the gym I had it. I know I had it when I came back to my apartment and so I'm thinking I either took it to school and it fell out of my bag (I don't think I took it to school that day though) or the people who clean my apartment took it. I'm living temporarily in a hotel so I don't have much time. I'm living in Indonesia and the maids are Indonesian. You never know. I've asked around the hotel and the school, nothing. What do you think? more

Resolved Question: Should Neal Boortz put out a new version of 'No Muslim Outrage'?

You might remember his original one: Muslim outrage huh. OK ... let's do a little historical review. Just some lowlights: Muslims fly commercial airliners into buildings in New York City. No Muslim outrage. Muslim officials block the exit where school girls are trying to escape a burning building because their faces were exposed. No Muslim outrage. Muslims cut off the heads of three teenaged girls on their way to school in Indonesia. A Christian school. No Muslim outrage. Muslims murder teachers trying to teach Muslim children in Iraq. No Muslim outrage. Muslims murder over 80 tourists with car bombs outside cafes and hotels in Egypt. No Muslim outrage. A Muslim attacks a missionary children's school in India. Kills six. No Muslim outrage. Muslims slaughter hundreds of children and teachers in Beslan, Russia. Muslims shoot children in the back. No Muslim outrage. Let's go way back. Muslims kidnap and kill athletes at the Munich Summer Olympics. No Muslim outrage. Muslims fire rocket-propelled grenades into schools full of children in Israel. No Muslim outrage. Muslims murder more than 50 commuters in attacks on London subways and busses. Over 700 are injured. No Muslim outrage. Muslims massacre dozens of innocents at a Passover Seder. No Muslim outrage. Muslims murder innocent vacationers in Bali. No Muslim outrage. Muslim newspapers publish anti-Semitic cartoons. No Muslim outrage Muslims are involved, on one side or the other, in almost every one of the 125+ shooting wars around the world. No Muslim outrage. Muslims beat the charred bodies of Western civilians with their shoes, then hang them from a bridge. No Muslim outrage. Newspapers in Denmark and Norway publish cartoons depicting Mohammed. Muslims are outraged. Dead children. Dead tourists. Dead teachers. Dead doctors and nurses. Death, destruction and mayhem around the world at the hands of Muslims .. no Muslim outrage ... but publish a cartoon depicting Mohammed with a bomb in his turban and all hell breaks loose. Come on, is this really about cartoons? They're rampaging and burning flags. They're looking for Europeans to kidnap. They're threatening innkeepers and generally raising holy Muslim hell not because of any outrage over a cartoon. They're outraged because it is part of the Islamic jihadist culture to be outraged. You don't really need a reason. You just need an excuse. Wandering around, destroying property, murdering children, firing guns into the air and feigning outrage over the slightest perceived insult is to a jihadist what tailgating is to a Steeler's fan. I know and understand that these bloodthirsty murderers do not represent the majority of the world's Muslims. When, though, do they become outraged? When do they take to the streets to express their outrage at the radicals who are making their religion the object of worldwide hatred and ridicule? Islamic writer Salman Rushdie wrote of these silent Muslims in a New York Times article three years ago. "As their ancient, deeply civilized culture of love, art and philosophical reflection is hijacked by paranoiacs, racists, liars, male supremacists, tyrants, fanatics and violence junkies, why are they not screaming?" Indeed. Why not? more

Resolved Question: One Simple Question about Obama?

While some have little interest in getting in the middle of the Obama birth issue, Paul Hollrah over at UTFSM did so yesterday and believes the issue can be resolved by Obama answering one simple question: What passport did he use when he was shuttling between New York, Jakarta, and Karachi? So how did a young man who arrived in New York in early June 1981, without the price of a hotel room in his pocket, suddenly come up with the price of a round-the-world trip just a month later? And once he was on a plane, shuttling between New York, Jakarta, and Karachi, what passport was he offering when he passed through Customs and Immigration? The American people not only deserve to have answers to these questions, they must have answers. It makes the debate over Obama's citizenship a rather short and simple one. Q: Did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20? A : Yes, by his own admission.. Q: What passport did he travel under? A: There are only three possibilities 1) He traveled with a U.S. Passport, 2) He traveled with a British passport, or 3) He traveled with an Indonesia passport. Q: Is it possible that Obama traveled with a U.S. Passport in 1981? A: No. It is not possible. Pakistan was on the U.S. State Department's "no travel" list in 1981. Conclusion: When Obama went to Pakistan in 1981 he was traveling either with a British passport or an Indonesian passport. If he were traveling with a British passport that would provide proof he was born in Kenya on August 4, 1961, not in Hawaii as he claims. And if he were traveling with an Indonesian passport that would tend to prove he relinquished whatever previous citizenship he held, British or American, prior to being adopted by his Indonesian step-father in 1967. Whatever the truth of the matter, the American people need to know how he managed to become a "natural born" American citizen between 1981 and 2008.. Given the destructive nature of his plans for America, as illustrated by his speech before Congress and the disastrous spending plan he has presented to Congress, the sooner we learn the truth of all this, the better. If you don't care if your president is not a natural born citizen and in violation of the Constitution, then don't try to convince people that you are concern about honestly in government.Zap, When did snopes become the final authority in all things?DebbieP, Is that a fact? Maybe you can explain why I had to get one of my own when I was 9 years old in 1969 to go to England if children can go under their parents.I wish I could give best answer to more than just one person. more

Resolved Question: Have you ever experienced anything that made you sit back, feel 'insaf' & be thankful for whatever you have?

Unlike our previous visits where we used to stay in hotels, I was invited by my wife's auntie to stay at her newly bought place in a suburb area in Bandung, Indonesia. This new exclusive housing area is somehow surrounded by squatters. The autie & husband barely go to work as they have people to take care of their businesses and four (3) maids and a chauffer. I got overwhelmed by the bungalow and state of the art interior, and I kind of regret & symphatize myself for not being able to live in such a lavish & luxurious life. (Although I'm living in a condominium and in a nice strategic area in S'pore, I still need to go to work, worst still, 2 jobs, so that I have some extras for vacations & to enjoy our favorite dining in the region. One thing bad about me, I could spend alot on food & hotel whenever I go on vacation, but I always refuse to let my luggage carried by the hotel bellboy as I was stingy to give tips, not even a dollar to them although I knew they make less than $100 per mth. I was stingy) The unsatisfaction feeling was not long until one day while having tea out at the compound (auntie's house), there came a woman and three of her children, a boy & 2 girls aged about 3-9 yrs old & stand outside the house gate. As the gate opened by the house maid, they still stood out there. I personal went to them & greet them, but they just smiled & seemed do not understand my 'accent' & the children were too shy that they tried to hide behind their mother. Shortly the maid came & gave them 'something' in a plastic bag. When they left, I asked my wife what that was, she said it was the LEFT OVER RICE that our auntie's had for the past few days! The woman collect it from few houses, WASH them and heat them up again for feeding & raising up the children & the entire family! I was speechless.. Anyway, eversince that, whenever going for a trip/vaction, I make sure I spare some moneys for tips & donations. That probably the least I could do. more

Resolved Question: Obama's citizenship case quietly reaches the Supreme Court?

I hate to bring this up again, but.. this is new information. This is all quite suspicious. And... it's now going to the Supreme Court. What are your thoughts on this? VERY QUIETLY OBAMA'S CITIZENSHIP CASE REACHES THE SUPREME COURT AP- WASHINGTON D.C. - In a move certain to fuel the debate over Obama's qualifications for the presidency, the group "Americans for Freedom of Information" has Released copies of President Obama's college transcripts from Occidental College . Released today, the transcript school indicates that Obama, under the name Barry Soetoro, received financial aid as a foreign student from Indonesia as an undergraduate at the The transcript was released by Occidental College in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California. The transcript shows that Obama (Soetoro) applied for financial aid and was awarded a fellowship for foreign students from the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program. To qualify, for the scholarship, a student must claim foreign citizenship. This document would seem to provide the smoking gun that many of Obama's detractors have been seeking. Along with the evidence that he was first born in Kenya and there is no record of him ever applying for US citizenship, this is looking pretty grim. The news has created a firestorm at the White House as the release casts increasing doubt about Obama's legitimacy and qualification to serve as President. When reached for comment in London , where he has been in meetings with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Obama smiled but refused comment on the issue. Britain 's Daily Mail has also carried the story in a front-page article titled, "Obama Eligibility Questioned," leading some to speculate that the story may overshadow economic issues on Obama's first official visit to the U.K. In a related matter, under growing pressure from several groups, Justice Antonin Scalia announced that the Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to hear arguments concerning Obama's legal eligibility to serve as President in a case brought by Leo Donofrio of New Jersey . This lawsuit claims Obama's dual citizenship disqualified him from serving as president. Donofrio's case is just one of 18 suits brought by citizens demanding proof of Obama's citizenship or qualification to serve as president. Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation has released the results of their investigation of Obama's campaign spending. This study estimates that Obama has spent upwards of $950,000 in campaign funds in the past year with eleven law firms in 12 states for legal resources to block disclosure of any of his personal records. Mr. Kreep indicated that the investigation is still ongoing but that the final report will be provided to the U.S. attorney general, Eric Holder. Mr. Holder has refused to comment on the matter. . Resolved Question: Three reasons why the terrorists choose Indonesia.?

This is the title of Media Indonesia Sunday (13/11/05) Edition's feature news. This represents the aggregate opinion of the intelligent analysts as to why the two key criminals, namely Dr Azahari and Noordin M Top from Malaysia, have chosen Indonesia to conduct their criminal activities. These are: 1.The weakness of the Indonesian's legal umbrella 2.Low level of education in Indonesia 3.The widespread poverty in Indonesia If we follow the common logic, we are entitled to be very emotional about the criminality of terrorism in this country. Because the key terrorist figures have chosen Indonesia and not their own country (Malaysia) to conduct their criminality. Indonesia has already been entangled by so many of its own problems, it has been made to suffer further by the criminal acts masterminded by these two Malaysian nationals. We admit that Dr Azahari and Noordin M Top can only operate in Indonesia unimpeded because a number of "easiness". These "easiness" must become the lessons for our Elites in the re-building Indonesia for the future. We can debate long and hard about the validity of the three causes above. Nevertheless, they are not very far off the mark. Low levels of education and high levels of poverty - they are fertile fields for anyone who wants to sell real or fantasy ideology. Then there is the question of the law. However much we want to debate, the facts show that since the abolition of the 1963 Subversion Law *, Indonesia has become soft targets for the Terrorists. Please dont let these idiots into your country Indonesia, Noordin M Top is dead and so is his unimportant hotel planner. Dr Azahari is just a fool. Resolved Question: How much does it cost to travel around the world?

I know it depends on many factors but I'd love to have an estimate. I'll be travelling for about a year visiting 25 countries. Below I have listed the countries I'm going including how long I'll be staying in each country. Iraq - 4 weeks Iran - 2 weeks Saudi Arabia - 3 weeks Syria - 2 weeks Turkey - 2 weeks Palestine - 2 weeks Pakistan - 4 weeks Dubai - 2 weeks Thailand - 2 weeks Japan - 2 weeks China - 2 weeks Indonesia - 2 weeks Malaysia - 2 weeks Egypt - 2 weeks South Africa - 4 weeks France - 2 weeks Italy - 2 weeks Spain - 2 weeks Switzerland - 2 weeks Australia - 2 weeks New Zealand - 2 weeks USA - 4 weeks Jamaica - 2 weeks Venezuela - 2 weeks Brazil - 2 weeks I think I'll need about £35K for everything although I'd love to cut down. This amount includes the flights, packing up and travel insurance (basically everything I need before leaving) which I think should be about £5K. I don't fancy staying at cheap unsafe hostels so I'll be staying at reasonably priced secure hotels. I won't be working while I'm there as it's really meant to be a holiday for me to relax. I don't drink or smoke so I won't need to spend anything on that. What do you guys think? How much do I need? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thank you. more

Resolved Question: What to do near Sulawesi Indonesia in Nov 09?

Im off to an island off north Sulawesi called Bunaken with the mrs. We have 3 weeks off. In the first week I'll see my bro who is a dive instructor there but its a bit pricey £60 p/n. I was thinking of travelling around after that but dont know where to go/do etc. All Im looking for is a nice beach a few bars with a bit of music decent hotel about £20 p/n, a bit of sight seeing and maybe elephant riding. I'd be willing to travel to thailand for the last 2 weeks if need be but my bro says Indonesia is cheaper! I want to know if there are any places/islands worth seeing near Sulawesi as I dont really want to be travelling all holiday. Ive tried asking my bro but he is really thick and I cant get a straight answer out of him which is why I ask the good people on here. more

Resolved Question: Does Obama's passports in early life have you stumped?

OBAMA PASSPORTS What passport did he use when he was shuttling between New York, Jakarta, and Karachi? So how did a young man who arrived in New York in early June 1981, without the price of a hotel room in his pocket, suddenly come up with the price of a round-the-world trip just a month later? And once he was on a plane, shuttling between New York, Jakarta, and Karachi, what passport was he offering when he passed through Customs and Immigration? Did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20? A : Yes, by his own admission. Q: What passport did he travel under? A: There are only three possibilities. 1) He traveled with a U.S. If he were traveling with a British passport that would provide proof that he was born in Kenya on August 4, 1961, not in Hawaii as he claims. And if he were traveling with an Indonesian passport that would tend to prove that he relinquished whatever previous citizenship he held, British or American, prior to being adopted by his Indonesian step-father in 1967. more

Resolved Question: Which recent Islamist attack is the most significant: China, Indonesia, or Chechnya?

The attack in Chechnya just happened, heres the article: "GROZNY, Russia – A suicide bomber killed six people and himself, and wounded at least 10 others Sunday in the capital of violence-plagued Chechnya, officials said." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090726/ap_on_re_eu/eu_russia_restive_south Myself, I dont think theres any signifance. Almost all armed conflict worldwide is Islamic. The Islamist motive in Russia is the same as it is in China or the Phillipines or Afhanistan or anywhere in the middle east or in Indonesia As a reminder, the Indonesia Islamist attack happened in the past weeek (hotel bombing for allah) and the Chinese Islamist uprising happen in the last several weeks. more

Resolved Question: Why don't we fight back against Islamicist Aggression/?

Just last week two more hotels, geared towards Westerners, in Indonesia were bombed by moslem terrorists. Then there was Mumbai and the hotel hostage situation there. Why do we let these people get away with these atrocities, and bury our heads in the sand and pretend that Islam has NOT declared war on us. 9/11 was a declaration of war. We must begin to fight to win. I learned growing up in a gutter fight one does not win by using the Marquise of Queensbury Rules.>>> Thank you David, I agree with your statement about not all of Islam being evil, but what I don't understand is why the so called "good moslems", at least those in Western Countries, aren't taking to the streets protesting the actions being comitted in their name, in the name of their god, by their co-religionists. European. While America may have conflicts in various parts of the world, we do NOT deliberately target civilian targets. If the moslems on 9/11 had targeted only The Pentagon, and perhaps an army base or two, I would have been just as devastated but at least could have seen their reasoning. But to deliberately target and destroy two world icons, killing thousands of non-militiary people is just too horrific to understand. And what purpose was The London Underground bombings. What was the reasoning behind Madrid train bombings, Mumbai, Indonesia, Beslan, the other Indonesian bombing a few years ago, and all the other terror International Islam generate more

Resolved Question: is Indonesia expressing their jealousy to us (Malaysia) these days?

i'm not talking about all indonesians, but many of them or should i say...most? first we had bunch of indonesians who simply believe Manohara who accused her Malaysian husband for abusing her, without solid proof. then they drastically ban their citizens from coming to Malaysia to work as housemaids, for the reason "abuse on maids" we know how illogical Manohara (and her mother)'s statements are, and abuse on maids aren't only something that comes from Malaysia but from other countries as well. plus, many of the employers in Malaysia also don't escape from the abuse from their maids. and with this law regulated, many of the Indonesians themselves couldn't come here anymore to work -so the troubles return to their citizens (especially with super high rate of unemployment and poverty in Indonesia) i went to Jakarta around a week ago and saw there's a new soap drama (sinetron) on their TV, titled something like Tangisan Isabella, with the soundtrack "Isabella" by Amy Search (Malaysian song). the sinetron reflects Manohara's so-called "sad and abused royal life in Malaysia" (that is according to her and her mother's statement) another thing i saw was an adv. where there was around five M.U. players in a small classroom, learning basic indonesian words (it was cute-comedy concept). that advertisement sends the message like "the M.U footballer will be here (for a friendly match)" i dunno if there's any commercial in malaysia works to welcome the M.U. player, but a thing for sure, the team cancelled their plan to Jakarta due to the bombing of JW Mariot Hotel, and straight away head to Malaysia for a friendly match. i've read that Indonesia had even appeal for it (for MU to come to Indonesia) yet they (MU) still refused to. as for Malaysia, not just a match, another MU-Malaysia match will also be held; due to replace their cancelled match with Indonesia (and for this second match 3,000 seats are prepared for the Indonesian who have bought the ticket in their country and would like to change it with the local ticket) but recently, there's a story where a Malaysian extremist from nowhere is suspected for the bombing of JW Mariot Hotel in Jakarta. here are bits of it: "The Indonesian security ministry's anti-terror desk chief, Ansyaad Mbai, has said that evidence pointed to Malaysian-born extremist Noordin Mohammed Top, who leads a violent splinter faction of JI. Noordin is accused of masterminding bombings at the Jakarta Marriott in 2003, the Australian embassy in 2004 and Bali restaurants in 2005 which have killed more than 40 people." whole article: Yahoo! Malaysia News http://malaysia.news.yahoo.com/afp/20090718/tap-indonesia-attacks-aeccaac.html ok about this we dunno the truth much yet, but for the other things, i just don't get it..what have we done to Indonesia till they do this to us? again, i'm stressing...i know not all indonesians are involved. so big thanks for the Indonesians who aren't in this Malaysia-bashing.yeah, but how about Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and others? -yes, because their big money is enough to shut the indonesian immigration mouth from speaking against their abuses on indonesian maids i know some of us are mental disturbed, but malaysia had been one of the best in treating the indonesian workers. in fact, many of the indonesians create troubles here yet we still understand that it is personal issues and not everyone from indonesia is like that. we've been very nice, and the indonesians are expecting more from us. Resolved Question: Someone in Indonesia used my credit card?

A week ago someone from Indonesia used my credit card to purchase merchandise online in California. I live in Canada and I've never been to Indonesia in my life. I did a lot of online shopping within last 4-5 years with trusted online stores (Amazon, iTune, Zappos, etc.) and never ever have any problem before. Also, I've been to my home country Thailand a couple of times in the last 3 years. The last time was in 2007 and I used my credit card mostly for cash advance and to pay for the hotels and always watch when they processing my card. My question is - How did they get my credit card information even though I've never been there? I would appreciate a good answer. Someone that have knowledge in this kind of thing. Thanks in advance. more

Resolved Question: Obama's Passport was from what country?

And once he was on a plane, shuttling between New York, Jakarta, and Karachi, what passport was he offering when he passed through Customs and Immigration? The American people not only deserve to have answers to these questions, they must have answers. It makes the debate over Obama's citizenship a rather short and simple one. Q: Did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20? A : Yes, by his own admission. Q: What passport did he travel under? Resolved Question: Where to visit on in Bali, Indonesia?

I live in France and am going to Bali at the end of July for 15 days. I'm travelling alone and am interested in seeing beautiful beaches, mountains or cultural sites. I'm not that interested by Kuta for example. I think I'd rather visit Gili and Ubud. What are the nicest places to visit in Bali? P.S. Hotel reccommendations are welcome (25 euros per night / 40 AUS$)Gabby: I've already checked out a few places on the internet, middle range around 40 dollars a night, you've obviously never been to the place to say that. Even in Paris, you can find hotels at 40 dollars!! SO I think that Bali shouldn't present a problem for budget hotels... more

Whatever the truth of the matter, the American people need to know how he managed to become a "natural born" American citizen between 1981 and 2008.. Given the destructive nature of his plans for America, as illustrated by his speech before Congress and the disastrous spending plan he has presented to Congress, the sooner we learn the truth of all this, the better. more
