Paris Hotel Reservation Questions asked

Resolved Question: plane arrival time and hotel check in time conflict?

My flight arrives in CDG airport of paris at 1:40pm. I have a reservation at hotel belmont and check in is at 2:00pm. The estimated time from the airport to the hotel is 32min but I also have to go through passport control. Its obvious I wont make it by 2pm. What will probably happen if I arrive to the hotel between 2pm and 4pm. more

Resolved Question: What should I do? Planning a trip to Paris!?

Hello, my friend and I are planning on going to Paris for about 6 nights in September. We have a list of places to visit and airline/hotel estimates. I guess the question that is really troubling me is, how much money should we plan on bringing all together without the cost of hotel and airfare. We would like to eat in a nice restaurant at least one night, just for the experience : ) But we'd also like to visit as many museums as we can as well as the Eiffel Tower and possibly the Moulin Rouge. And of course, this doesn't include shopping! We're not huge shoppers, but we'd both like to option to buy a new article of clothing. I happen to love scarves! I guess these are my general questions based on the above..... and more! *How much money should we bring for 2 people? *How is the hotel Renaissance Vendome Paris? *Other not so touristy places to visit? *Best cheap and delicious restaurants/bistros? *One very nice restaurant? What should we wear to such a place? Average cost? How to make a reservation? *Where is the best place to exchange currency? *What is the cheapest way to travel around the city besides walking? *What is the best pocket map/guide to bring with me? *Great quite bars? And if you have any other advice, I would greatly appreciate it! We both work really hard and really need to get away for a bit. Thank you all so much : ) more

Resolved Question: Is it true that Spanish law requires me to give them my passport number to book a hotel?

I booked a vacation rental for my stay in Paris through a company that is based in Spain. They said that as part of Spanish law, I have to give them my passport number or national ID number to book a reservation. Is this correct? Worst case scenario, what could someone do with my passport number? more

Resolved Question: I'm italian; can you help me? 10 points?

Hi! I'm italian. I wanted to ask if I can fix this text which I translated into English. thank . kiss B. Here's a story that has brought together two people, two great friends, who had not seen for years, and all this by coincidence. One day they both went into a travel agency to book a holiday during the Christmas period. Until a few years before had been only two friends who had everything in common and had been really fantastic moments. But then they moved, and with time they lost sight. Both will make reservations for Paris, and both would leave on December 23. Arrived that day, took the same plane but not met. When they landed they went to the same hotel. That evening, during dinner, they recognized and began to relate what had happened during those years. Both were married, and both had two sons. They remembered all the moments spent together and spent a wonderful holiday. Thank ;) more

Resolved Question: Should I go visit my friends in America?

I live in Paris, France, and I love to visit America whenever I can. For the past year, I've been in touch with a guy my age (I'm 18) who lives in Florida. I met his friends thru video chatting and we've had long, extensive conversations about any topic you could think of. He's a college student in UF and lives in an apartment with 3 other guys (one of whom I've met). Two months ago we were talking about one of us traveling to meet the other in person. He doesn't have a passport so we decided I went over there. I was questioning the whole thing, but after talking to my parents and having them approve, and the low flight costs and plus him agreeing to fully tender my needs and accommodation arrangements, I decided to book a flight. Since that flight was booked, I've had ongoing thoughts and fears from going to a foreign country, to people whose lower limbs I haven't even seen ^^. I've been to A a couple of times, but it was with family, never alone. It's my first time traveling alone like this and I'm very scared of multiple possible occurrences. Moreover, I'm due to stay over for 1 month. The closer I get to that date my reservations are growing and my confidence ebbs. I've been able to think of so many reasons why I DO want to go, but so many reasons why I shouldn't. Canceling the flight would cost me 150$, but would allow me to avoid possible fun, and possible disgrace. About staying with them, I'm very VERY "don't enter my personal space" and I constantly need my corner to be alone in. I NEVER feel comfortable at other people's houses or even at hotels I feel really awkward. It's rather funny, writing this it seems appropriate that this should be my letter of concession to him ^^. However, I've been dreaming about how good it could be. I've longed for visiting america, and plus on my own, that could really be a blast. I cannot think of why I would otherwise have reservations from doing this. I remember being completely flabbergasted by the abundance of prosperity in America when I first went there, I would really love to revisit those experiences with greater joy. How do you feel about this? Would you go? (and I'm referring to the random person reading this, I just need a rational, non-biased opinion) Thank you very much! more

Resolved Question: Traveling Abroad.....Spontaneous....Language Immersion?

My friends and I are 'planning' a trip to Europe. We're all around 18(the youngest is 17),we're all high schools seniors to recent high school graduates. We want to be as spontaneous as possible. We don't plan on making hotel reservations or anything like that. We plan on finding accommodations that night wherever we are. We hope to travel to London, Paris, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Nice, Barcelona, Amsterdam, etc. We are traveling light( a backpack or two with only essentials, nothing excessive). We all have enough money, passports etc. Has anyone done anything similar to this? How was it? Do you have any tips for this type of travel? NOTE: And we plan on buying our plane tickets to Europe ahead of time, to secure that we all get on the same plane. This is basically a trip of travel and also to immerse ourselves in the languages of French, German and Spanish. Good idea or not?Can anyway give me a list of recommended hostiles? We are looking for a place to meet other young travelers, not many rules (but still not to rowdy) and in a good area of that country. Barcelona? Amsterdam? Paris? Prague? Nice? Berlin? London? more

Resolved Question: Please help me plan my France trip where to go and what to do?

We are going to land in Paris on the 18 of August and in total we have 4 people with us. We are going to be in France for 2 weeks, we are scheduled to leave on the 30th of August. So I would like to ask for advice on where to go and what to see for an intermediate budget. We do what to try the Paris Disneyland as well so if you guys could create some sort of schedule for us we would be very grateful since we have no idea about France, we are going there from Japan. Or could you suggest a website which would help create a schedule for us that would be great too. Although we have bought the plane tickets we have yet to make reservations on any hotels or anything so please advise us on what to do. Thank you in advance for your help and kindness. more

Resolved Question: French phrases needed, long but much appreciated!?

Hi there. This summer, I'm going to Paris for a long weekend break with my parents for a holiday. I have been learning French at school for 2 years and although I am comfortable speaking it in school, I know that speaking French in France is going to be an entirely different experience. My parents don't speak ONE word of French so they're relying on me (just the 3 of us are going). To prepare myself, I have decided to learn some useful french phrases. I have learnt some in school however I have been told that the ones I have learnt in school aren't the ones that French people use on a day to day basis. Since I really enjoy French, I want to get the most out of this trip and speak French to the best of my ability, and a lot of it! Please help me do this and translate these phrases for me please please please! By the way, since I'm travelling with my parents, I would use "we" for most things, wouldn't I? Because they made the reservations and they are paying, so I would use we...I think, lol, help me out here. I'm just presuming I would use "we" so if it's wrong, change it when you offer your suggestions please....and also, could you please make sure it's the polite version, as it's probably best I use the polite words Accomodation: Hello, we have a reservation - Is it a triple room? - We booked a triple room - We have the documents - Where is our room? - On which floor? - Where is the dining area/ hotel restaurant? - Where is the lobby? - We have lost our keys - The shower/ television is broke - What time do the cleaners come? - Dining: Can we have a table for 3 please? - In the non-smoking section please - What do you recommend? - Can we have....? - (these are important, as we don't eat pork products at all) We don't eat any pork or ham or bacon - Is there pork/ham/bacon in this? - Pasta - Where are the toilets? - Can we have a menu please? - Can we have the bill please? - Is this........? - Shopping: Can I have one of those?- Can we have one of those? - How much is this? - How much are these? - How much is this all together? - Do you take credit card? - Do you take a travel cheque? - Do you have....? - Can I have/ we have that one? - Can I have a bag please? - Directions- Where is the museum? - Where is the tourists information office? - Where is the hotel? - Do you know where the......is? - Excuse me, how to you get to the station please? Hospital - Beach - Travelling by taxi: Can you take us to.........please? - How much will it cost? - We'd like to book a taxi please - For 3 people - Where can we get a taxi? - Train: What time does the train for.....leave? - What time does the train for.....arrive? - Arrivals - Departures - How do you get to.......by train? - How much are the tickets? How much are 3 adult tickets? How much is 1 child tickets (this isn't part of the question lol, but I'm 14 so would I still get a child tickets in France?) - Which platform should we go to? - Where is platform (no.)? - Excuse me - Please - Ok - Sorry - Sorry, I don't understand - I speak very little French - My parents don't speak any French - We're here on holiday - Paris is beautiful! - We are from England - Is there anyone who speaks English please? - We are lost - The lift/elevator is stuck - Please get help - It's an emergency - Stop thief! - A man stole my handbag/wallet/camera/bag/money - Police! - He/She is hurt/ I am hurt- Call an ambulance - He/She/I broke my........ - Please help us - Money - i would be so very grateful to those who answer my list. It would help me develop my language skills, which I am so eager to do. French is definately something that I want to stick with. Merci!Yes, I have been learning for 2 years now, I just wanted to know whether what I have been learning is what people in France would actually say...if no one wants to help me by answering my question, then that's fine more

Resolved Question: How much money do I need for 4 full days in vegas?

My wife and I are going to vegas for her 21st birthday. We are arriving saturday july 4th around noon and departing at 12:30 on wednesday july 8th. We already have air and hotel booked and payed for, we are staying at Paris. I also already booked and payed to see Mystere. The only other thing I have planned is reservations at emerils new orleans fish house. We are not big gamblers and plan to spend around $300 or so on gambling, but besides gambling what would be a good amount to bring to ensure we have a blast. Emerils will probably be as nice of a restaurant as we will go to. Other than that we will probably hit the buffets, delis, and food courts. We are not big drinkers or club goers as well. I am planning on bringing about $1500, and 500 on reserve on the cc, but want to make sure this will be enough. Also if anyone can recommend any places to eat or other things to do or places to go, please your input is greatly appreciated.I gamble pretty often, but usually go to biloxi and play nickel slots and alittle blackjack. My wife on the other hand has never been to a casino, but I doubt she will have a gambling problem. Thanks for the input. more

Resolved Question: Great places to eat in Vegas on a budget?

My boyfriend and I are going to Vegas next weekend.. Thursday-Sunday. It's my first time in Vegas so I'd like to have a memorable time.. We're on a budget of $750/person for the whole trip.. so I know I'm pretty limited on my options... but I would like to have a couple nice romantic meals while I'm there, and the rest of the time I'll eat cheap. I've made reservations for Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris hotel for Friday night.. is this a good, not-to-expensive place? And how much does the Bellagio buffet cost? I heard that is one of the best and that is where we will be staying. And do they serve alcohol at the buffets? Any other recommendations? more

Resolved Question: Hotel Cancellation "NO-SHOW"- Have already paid?

I have made a reservation for 2 nights on a hotel in Paris to get my Visas. But I'm going to stay with one of my friends during the trip. But I don't need to cancel the hotel booking since I need to get through the french immigration. Here is the hotel Cancellation conditions specified on the booking email. Cancellation conditions Double Room NO SHOW: the first night, without extras (EUR75.00) 1 day(s) before arrival: the first night, without extras (EUR75.00) As soon as the booking is made: + EUR10.00 In this case what is the meaning of "NO-SHOW"? If I didn’t go to the hotel or didn't inform the cancellation how much they are going to charge? Is it EUR75.00? I have already given my credit card details. I didn't have any option. So they have already charged 75EUROS from my credit card. In cse of NO-SHOW are they going to charge another 75EUROS. more

Resolved Question: Are hotels.co.uk a reliable company to book hotels through online?

I'm looking to book a hotel for 3 nights in Paris, and while searching for some reviews on sites like tripadvisor.com have found some comments suggesting that hotels booked through the company never received the payment/booking and there have been major problems with reservations. Is this common, and have other people had similar experiences? Or does anyone use their service regularly and find them to be fine? Also, I also read somewhere that the price that is shown next to the hotels on the search results isn't the final price and that a 25% surcharge is applied? Is that true? Thank you! more

Resolved Question: Expedia.com and Hilton Hawaiian Village/Honolulu?

Through Expedia.com,I booked reservations for 2 beach front rooms at the Hilton Hawaiian in Honolulu. When we arrived, we stood in line 45 minutes at reservation desk only to be told they gave our rooms to someone who wanted to extend their stay. Management told us they'd put us up in another hotel and the entire stay would be free, Hilton would pay for it. Of course we were lied to. FIrst part of our stay we were put up in a hotel with a view of a parking lot and low rent apartments. Rest of the stay was in a nice hotel - no beach view. Hilton charged our card for 2 beachfront rooms at the Hilton. Expedia won't do anything and won't post my review on their website. Beware...They only post the positive reviews so the consumer doesn't get the real truth. We could hardly afford the trip, a once in a lifetime thing. Thanks, Hilton and Expedia.com. Resolved Question: How do I get a room with a view of the strip?

I plan on going back out to Vegas in January. I would like to stay around Caesars, Ballagio, Paris.. that area. I would like a room that overlooks the strip and one that I can see the fountains of the Ballagio from my room, an unobstructed view. I looked up the floor plans for the hotels out there, but they only list the main floor (casino, restaurants, etc) not the rooms themselves. What do I ask for when making reservations? Can this be done by using those online reservations or do I have to contact the hotel themselves? I don't want a view of the parking lot or a pool. What do I ask for? How do I know they are not going to get me a crappy room ahead of time? I've been out there before, and, by chance, I've always gotten a good view, but, how can I make sure that's what I get? Any help would be appreciated, I'm trying to plan my honeymoon. I got married there last year, and we weren't able to stay out as long as I wanted. I just want to make sure everything is just right. Thanks. more

Ryanair seems cheaper, but hotel in Italy seemed expensive + the routes are kind of messed up: I can go from Paris to Venice or Paris to Florence, but there isn't a route connecting Venice and Florence, and none of the 3 cities have a route to Nice. Anyone know a combination of some sort to lower costs? Driving isn't an option. more

Resolved Question: Traveling from Paris to Lucca by train?

Dear Friends, I will be traveling from Paris to Lucca by train on 6th June. I will be coming back from Lucca on 14th June and want to stay a night in Pisa and then finally back to Paris. Can you kindly give some information on following matters? 1.What is the best site to book train ticket (passes) online? Can I pay by credit card and submit the online ticket in train? How do I know which route needs prior reservation? 2.Does the train from Paris to Lucca go via Pisa or it goes as Paris- Lucca and finally to Pisa? When coming back, I am planning to travel Lucca to Pisa. Stay one day and then Pisa to Paris. Are trains available from Pisa to Paris? 3.How long does it take to travel from France to Pisa? 4.What is the cheap hotel in Pisa? I will be happy to stay in backpacker if available or in any student accommodation. Basically I want to stay one day in Pisa to visit leaning tower of Pisa. Thank you. Neutya. more

Resolved Question: Looking for a cheaper way to travel to Europe for a family of 5? (Part 2)?

I already bought our plane ticket to Europe from US. The pocket money I have left ($7k) is for traveling within Europe, food, hotel in Rome and Paris, etc..... It is our family's first time in Europe and we're all looking forward to it so please help me plan our first trip to Euorpe memorable..... Thanks a lot you guys! more

Resolved Question: Help with Schengen Visa: Transiting through UK?

Im from asia and plans to travel to Europe through UK on a budget. (1) Should I still submit confirmed reservations even if plan to stay on a hostel or other similar places? Embassy requires confirmed hotel reservations (2) what if i just pick where i stay abroad on a whim? (2) I plan to enter Europe thru UK(not Schengen) because I can get cheaper airfare and I'll just go by train to Paris and elsewhere, do I still need visa for UK? I also plan to exit in UK again. Resolved Question: HELP! What are the worthwhile sights to see in Paris and in what order? I need a 3 day itinerary?

I have 3 days in Paris. I live in France, and my friend is coming to visit. What are some of the good sights to see, and in what order? I want to do it the best/convenient way. Also, suggestions on hotels/hostels that I could stay in? And how do I get from sight to sight? These are the places that I was thinking: Sacre Couer, Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Notre Dame, Champs Elysee. I'm not sure what order to do them in though. I also don't know if I need to make reservations at any of the places either. Help!! SUGGESTIONS on an itinerary. more

Resolved Question: Las Vegas hotel rates & more?

Hey everybody! I have a question. I am hopefully taking my mom to Las Vegas for this holiday season from December 24th to December 27th (3 nights, 4 days). I am interested in taking her to hotels such as the MGM Hotel, Caesar's Palace, Paris Las Vegas or Rio...I have been checking their prices and I do get their rates...what I can not find on their websites is if the food services are included on their rates...as in will we have a food plan as part of our reservation or do we have to pay for food separate...and if we do, how much is the food going to cost. If there are any other Vegas hotels that you recommed, I'll appreciate it! more

Resolved Question: Urgent Legal Help! Can I sue this Airline? Please!?

I have a situation with Delta Airlines, it is really complicated but our main claim is what I'm wondering if we can sue over. Basically a mistake was made by the airline on our reservation so they were forced to change our flight, we had to spend a night in Paris. We were given transportation-hotel-meal vouchers for a certain hotel. While on the flight to Paris they called us to tell us the hotel was fully booked and that they had made reservations for us elsewhere that we would have to pay out of our pocket but would be fully reimbursed.2 months later, and having spent more than a 1000 euros (they booked us at the Marriott on the Champs Elysee),we have had our multiple requests for reimbursement "respectfully denied". We really don't have that type of cash to spare, we were promised something and expected them to come through. The whole story is a lot more complicated but pretty entertaining, if anyone can seriously help me read this: http://deltaairlineshorrorstories.blogspot.comSorry to anyone who had already answered, I'm new and erased the answer accidentally.

Resolved Question: Traveling to Paris...?

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Paris for April of 2008. I've already bought a guide book, however, I'd like to hear from the public about places to go (museums, dining, clubs, etc.). Also, I'd like if possible to take a ride to London (I guess a train, but open to suggestions) while I'm there. Any advice or experiences would be great. Also looking for hotel suggestions before I make my final reservations. I'll be leaving from Newark Airport in NJ, although JFK and LaGuardia in NYC are also possibilities.Suggestions outside of Paris (in close proximity) are welcome as well. more

Resolved Question: Staying at Paris in Las Vegas - Any good hints or tips?

I have made reservations for a room at Paris in Las Vegas, but have never stayed in that hotel before. Does anyone have any tips or hints about the rooms? I'm not a gambler, so I don't expect any comps, but do I have any leeway in requesting certain areas or where the room should be? Do they have non-smoking floors? Good views? I could use any hints you may have. Thanks so much! more
