Resolved Question: Should I visit Japan before moving to work there?
BACKGROUND... I plan to go to Japan at the end of this year to teach English, hopefully for around 3 years. I already have my CELTA qualification and am just waiting and working on my final year at University. I have never visited Japan, but through reading about it, tasting the foods, listening to the music and hearing about it from Japanese friends living in England, this really is the country I have my heart set on working in. THE PROBLEM... I was planning to go for a 1 month holiday with my best friend touring Japan during June, to get a basic feel of the country, and an idea of any adjustments I would have to make whilst living there. She recently told me that now her work will only let her have 2 weeks off.. this has since gone down to 15 days.. and she has now told me today that she isn't sure if she would be able to afford Japan at all (we approximated about £2000/$3000 for a comfortable 2 week trip). So that was quite a let down... MY QUESTION (are the titles helping? :P)... Would it be worth my while going to Japan alone for a week or so? I would still like to go on holiday with my friend, even if it is somewhere cheaper. But just to note, my fundings are definitely not unlimited, as I am still only a student. Do I need to visit Japan before making a commitment to work there? Or maybe when/if I get a job, I could just go out there a week or two before the start date. If anybody could give me any kind of imput, I would reaaaaaally appreciate it! Quite unsure at the moment. I would prefer not to go on holiday to Japan on my own, but if you think it would be beneficial to me, then please let me know. Thanks so much!Sorry.. from 3 weeks down to 15 days I meant :) moreResolved Question: R&P: What do you think of the band "Gentle Giant"?
From my question yesterday: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AowktjEglJ3A6jWJqc71aznty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100216114914AAe6kW8 Gentle Giant was a British progressive rock band active between 1970 and 1980. While never achieving the commercial heights of progressive rock contemporaries such as Genesis, Yes or Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Gentle Giant was considered to be one of the most experimental bands in the genre (as well as one of the most experimental rock bands of the 1970s). Gentle Giant was formed in 1970 when the Shulman brothers (Phil, Derek and Ray) teamed up with two other multi-instrumentalists, Gary Green, Kerry Minnear and later with Martin Smith. The new band also featured three lead vocalists: Derek Shulman (who sang in a tough rhythm-and-blues style and who generally handled the more rock-oriented vocals); Phil Shulman (who had a softer voice and handled the more folk-influenced leads); and Kerry Minnear (who had a particularly delicate voice and sang lighter folk and chamber-classical lead vocals). The band's first album was the self-titled Gentle Giant in 1970. Combining the collective band members' influences of rock, blues, classical and 1960s British soul, it was an immediately challenging effort, though sometimes criticised for a slightly disappointing recording quality. Gentle Giant was followed in 1971 by Acquiring the Taste. This second album showcased a band who were developing rapidly. Three Friends (1972) was the band's first concept album, and was based around the theme of three boys who are "inevitably separated by chance, skill and fate" as they become men. The development and fate of each character is musically represented by separate yet integrated styles from hard rhythm-and-blues-edged rock to symphonic classical stylings. Later in 1972, Octopus was released and is generally considered to represent the start of the band's peak period. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTet3C_afKA Gentle Giant underwent its most significant line-up change following the tour supporting Octopus. Burnt out and discouraged (especially after the difficult dates with Black Sabbath) Phil Shulman left the band following disagreements with his brothers. The remainder of the band regrouped to record the harder-rocking In a Glass House, which was released in 1973. A complex and determined concept album - named for the aphorism that "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" - it was the band's most directly psychological effort to date. The Power and the Glory followed in 1974, Gentle Giant's third concept album. This time the album's theme was about taking power and corruption. Gentle Giant's next release was 1976's Interview - another concept album, this time based around an imaginary interview with the band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgUpLcnLkxs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2WcGggmnmg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xOCLxrZJ9c While the band's skill as performers remained undiminished, their creative peak was now behind them. Momentum of a kind was kept up by two considerably poppier albums - The Missing Piece (1977) and Giant for a Day (1978) - which showed evidence of being aimed at a market now shifting towards pop. Derek Shulman was later to describe Giant for a Day as being "real contrived." In 1979, they recorded and released their twelfth and most mainstream album, Civilian, a record of short rock songs. In the summer of 1980, the group quietly disbanded. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zsOrEwhxdg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ms4Ten4oVag http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfTn2O_hQ6c moreVoting Question: Give me a star if you like this story!?
Hardly anyone remembers Camel anymore. They were a British band whose popularity peaked in about 1977, not to be confused with Frampton's Camel, which was Peter Frampton's (remember him?) band of the same era. Camel was a "progressive-rock" band (like ELP, Yes, and Genesis, though they sounded nothing like any of those bands) whose airplay was limited to "AOR" (album-oriented radio) FM stations. Their biggest hit album was "Moonmadness", though they were fairly well-known for their earlier album "The Snow Goose". Anyway, Camel toured the greater U.S. in about 1977. In Portland, they would be coming to the Paramount, and REO Speedwagon (I was never much of an REO fan) would open for them. The Paramount Theater in Portland (there was one in Seattle too) was just about the best place in the world for a rock concert. It held a little over 3000, was beautifully decorated, with chandeliers and exquisitely detailed and brightly colored woodwork everywhere. Standing was not allowed, there was no "festival seating" (the kind of seating where everyone stands). The place was fully carpeted (even the walls were carpeted to a height of about 6 feet) and acoustically, it was one of the best venues for a rock concert ever. So it was with much anticipation and excitement that I made plans to attend the concert with two friends of mine from school. Tracy was diminutive fellow with a lisp and an unending appetite for drugs. His next-door neighbor, Steve Harrell, was of higher than average intelligence but every inch an anarchist. His cerebral but socially out-of-it ways made him lots of fun to get high with. And, he was a fellow Camel fan. Strategies were outlined for attending the show. Now, the Paramount had no reserved seating, so there were two ways to ensure a good seat: One, you could show up verrrry early and camp out in front of the doors (the groupies usually did this), or Two, you could wait until the precise moment the doors opened, and crowd in at the corner of the block, beating all the chumps who had lined up along the sidewalk, the line sometimes reaching all the way around the perimeter of the building. As always, we would opt for Method Two. I was the driver for this event, I had a new lime-green Pontiac Ventura with a Craig Car Stereo cassette deck I'd installed myself, so I was usually picked to drive. We arrived about two hours before show time. We were incredibly lucky to find a parking spot right on the corner, just across the street from the doors. Here, we could imbibe all we wanted, then simply hop out and walk up to the doors when they opened. Wonderful! Steve, being the bravest, went off to try to score some wine at a little market up the street. He managed to procure some liquor by bribing an old alcoholic street person, giving the old guy enough for his very own bottle. Then he returned to the car with the goodies: A half-gallon of warm, pink chablis for Tracy and him to share, and for me, my very own fifth of warm, pink chablis. Of course it was yucky-tasting, but that was hardly the point: We could get totally shitface-drunk, then just walk up at the right time and get excellent seats for the concert. All our concert-going experience and brainstorming had brought us to this perfect situation. We were very proud. I finished off my fifth in about 30 minutes, as we knew the doors would be opening soon. Tracy and Steve were too grossed out by the flavor (and temperature) of the wine to drink as much as I did, but they had drank enough to develop a healthy buzz, especially when combined with all the usual weed that was obligatory for concert-going. We noticed a clamor on the corner. The doors were about to open! We climbed out of the car and crossed the street into the dense crowd, which was when I first noticed that I was nearly too drunk to stand up. After pushing our way into the crowd, the only way I could remain upright was by propping myself against other concertgoers. Once the doors opened, we raced into the auditorium and secured seats in the third row, near center stage! On the stage, there were three huge projection screens set up in back, as Camel had a sort of slide-projection show that would play behind them, very advanced visual-stuff for a rock band at the time. Everything had gone perfectly, except one thing: My stomach and the pink wine were not getting along very well. So I sat there, hoping the nauseous feeling would pass. It got worse when it was announced that REO Speedwagon would not be there. I don't remember the reason for their cancellation, but they were to be replaced by a Portland band I had never heard of, and would never hear of again, called "Wrinkle". Just about then, I realized that puking was inevitable. I calmly got up and walked very fast to the restrooms in the basement of the Paramount. Now, before I begin describing my technicolor yawn, you need to know two things: One, I have had severe hay fever my entire life, and I get moreResolved Question: Recommend me some movies with similar plots I should add to netflix?

This time they actually said Bill & Tom Kaulitz from Tokio Hotel, not just Tokio Hotel :] Its a stardoll interview lol How long has Tokio Hotel been together? Bill: We have been a band since 2003, but Tom and I have been making music since we were 8 years old. How would you describe your group’s style? Tom: I think it is pretty hard to describe your own style, we just make music. Our personal taste in music is very different though and I think that’s one of the reasons why our band’s sound is a good mixture of everything: rock, pop, electronic music – even dance. The only thing missing is probably hip hop. What are the bands influences? Do you have a style icon? Bill: We don’t really have one particular band or style icon that influences us. I think that the only band we all like when it comes to music and style is AEROSMITH. What are your favorite songs to play, and why? Bill: Since we are rehearsing for the tour every day now, it changes from day to day. At the moment I’m digging DOGS UNLEASHED and ZOOM INTO ME. Tom: I love DARKSIDE OF THE SUN and HUMANOID at the moment – they both are going to be total killer songs when we will play them LIVE. What is something you should bring on tour that most people may not think of? Tom: We are going to have some amazing new production items and instruments with us this trip, which nobody will expect us to have. Is it true the band is vegetarian? Bill: Yes, Tom and I have been vegetarians for over a year now. Give us some details on one of your most memorable moments as a band? Tom: That’s hard to pick since there are so many! If I had to choose three of them I would say the moment when MONSOON shot up to No.1 in Germany, winning the first EMA and the first VMA award in our career. That was really special, since we didn’t expect it whatsoever. Bill: We are actually thankful for every moment we have as a band. What is it like to be famous? Tom: It is great most times since we get to do what we always have dreamed of. When are you yourself? Bill: When I am with my friends and my family. Do you have a best friend? Bill: Yes ;) What is good about him/her? Bill: He/she accepts me the way I am. What would you like to say to the Stardoll members? Tom: We wish you all a wicked year 2010 and we’ll hopefully see you guys at one of our shows this year! What are you proud of? Bill: Everything we have achieved so far, we never expected any of this! Any wineries that are close to Santiago that would be open on Sunday? Thanks! moreResolved Question: Looking further into generational differences and music taste?
I like a wide variety of music, including most classic rock. I think that a lot of kids my age enjoy classic rock because we heard it from our parents growing up. That was not the case with me though, my parents don't listen to rock, I had to find it by myself so it took a while. However, I rarely hear parents say "I've started listening to modern rock a lot, I've been around it a lot during the last decade because of my kids". My mom would be a counterexample to this though, she typically listens to whatever I listen to because she's not very picky. Anyway, when I meet adults who like the same music as me, I'm usually very surprised and I respect them a lot for it. But when I tell adults that I like their music, the reaction seems to be 'yeah, well it is pretty awesome so I can understand that'. I like it when adults take an interest in the music from my generation. Sometimes adults are excited to talk to me about music but I think if you're an open-minded music fan, even as a kid it is pretty normal to like classic rock whereas if I evaluate that an adult is open-minded, I still don't expect them to like newer rock and pop. Do you think this is because of a general opinion among older generations that their music is superior? I realize that I know much more than most 30+ people about current music because I talk to kids about it regularly and I participate in my local music scene and have talked with a lot of touring musicians. I don't expect this to always be the case though, I'm not always going to be friends with teenagers and at some point I will probably attend far less shows. But I still suspect that I will always be interested in newer music, even when I have drifted away from my direct contact with it. BQ: I know that avant-garde and world music has been popular among kids for at least 30 years now. Most people I know listen to as much traditional and experimental music as pop. So I'm asking because I honestly don't know, was this the case before the 80s as well? I know that traditional and folk music was studied for its artistic merit much earlier in the 20th century by people like Lomax and Bartok. Right now, I feel like people have always understood that there is a great deal of importance, complexity and originality in traditional music, but do you remember kids thinking that when you were a teenager? And I know that hipsters have always enjoyed avant-garde music. And many minimalist artists of the 60s and earlier were influential to rock musicians. Perhaps the easiest example is John Cale who tried whenever he could to incorporate the drone into popular music. But do you remember listening to experimental rock and avant-garde music as a kid, or is that something people didn't notice until it was pointed out by critics later? moreResolved Question: 90's or Naughties? Can you help me with finding the Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action, and Resolution. The System of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether By: Edgar Allan Poe 1 DURING THE AUTUMN OF 18--, while on a tour through the extreme southern provinces of France, my route led me within a few miles of a certain Maison de Sante or private mad-house, about which I had heard much in Paris from my medical friends. As I had never visited a place of the kind, I thought the opportunity too good to be lost; and so proposed to my travelling companion (a gentleman with whom I had made casual acquaintance a few days before) that we should turn aside, for an hour or so, and look through the establishment. To this he objected- pleading haste in the first place, and, in the second, a very usual horror at the sight of a lunatic. He begged me, however, not to let any mere courtesy towards himself interfere with the gratification of my curiosity, and said that he would ride on leisurely, so that I might overtake him during the day, or, at all events, during the next. As he bade me good-bye, I bethought me that there might be some difficulty in obtaining access to the premises, and mentioned my fears on this point. He replied that, in fact, unless I had personal knowledge of the superintendent, Monsieur Maillard, or some credential in the way of a letter, a difficulty might be found to exist, as the regulations of these private mad-houses were more rigid than the public hospital laws. For himself, he added, he had, some years since, made the acquaintance of Maillard, and would so far assist me as to ride up to the door and introduce me; although his feelings on the subject of lunacy would not permit of his entering the house. 2 I thanked him, and, turning from the main road, we entered a grass-grown by-path, which, in half an hour, nearly lost itself in a dense forest, clothing the base of a mountain. Through this dank and gloomy wood we rode some two miles, when the Maison de Sante came in view. It was a fantastic chateau, much dilapidated, and indeed scarcely tenantable through age and neglect. Its aspect inspired me with absolute dread, and, checking my horse, I half resolved to turn back. I soon, however, grew ashamed of my weakness, and proceeded. 3 As we rode up to the gate-way, I noticed it slightly open, and the visage of a man peering through. In an instant afterward, this man came forth, accosted my companion by name, shook him cordially by the hand, and begged him to alight. It was Monsieur Maillard himself. He was a portly, fine-looking gentleman of the old school, with a polished manner, and a certain air of gravity which was very impressive. 4 My friend, having presented me, mentioned my desire to inspect the establishment, and received Monsieur Maillard's assurance that he would show me all attention, now took leave, and I saw him no more. 5 When he had gone, the superintendent ushered me into a small and exceedingly neat parlor, containing, among other indications of refined taste, many books, drawings, pots of flowers, and musical instruments. A cheerful fire blazed upon the hearth. At a piano, singing an aria from Bellini, sat a young and very beautiful woman, who, at my entrance, paused in her song, and received me with graceful courtesy. Her voice was low, and her whole manner subdued. I thought, too, that I perceived the traces of sorrow in her countenance, which was excessively, although to my taste, not unpleasingly, pale. She was attired in deep mourning, and excited in my bosom a feeling of mingled respect, interest, and admiration. 6 I had heard, at Paris, that the institution of Monsieur Maillard was managed upon what is vulgarly termed the "system of soothing"- that all punishments were avoided- that even confinement was seldom resorted to- that the patients, while secretly watched, were left much apparent liberty, and that most of them were permitted to roam about the house and grounds in the ordinary apparel of persons in right mind. 7 Keeping these impressions in view, I was cautious in what I said before the young lady; for I could not be sure that she was sane; and, in fact, there was a certain restless brilliancy about her eyes which half led me to imagine she was not. I confined my remarks, therefore, to general topics, and to such as I thought would not be displeasing or exciting even to a lunatic. She replied in a perfectly rational manner to all that I said; and even her original observations were marked with the soundest good sense, but a long acquaintance with the metaphysics of mania, had taught me to put no faith in such evidence of sanity, and I continued to practice, throughout the interview, the caution with which I commenced it. 8 Presently a smart footman in livery brought in a tray with fruit, wine, and other refreshments, of which I partook, the lady soon afterward leaving the room. As she departed I turned my eyes in an inquiring manner toward my host. 9 "No,Thank you (:9 "No," he said, "oh, no- a member of my family- my niece, and a most accomplished woman." 10 "I beg a thousand pardons for the suspicion," I replied, "but of course you will know how to excuse me. The excellent administration of your affairs here is well understood in Paris, and I thought it just possible, you know- 11 "Yes, yes- say no more- or rather it is myself who should thank you for the commendable prudence you have displayed. We seldom find so much of forethought in young men; and, more than once, some unhappy contre-temps has occurred in consequence of thoughtlessness on the part of our visitors. While my former system was in operation, and my patients were permitted the privilege of roaming to and fro at will, they were often aroused to a dangerous frenzy by injudicious persons who called to inspect the house. Hence I was obliged to enforce a rigid system of exclusion; and none obtained access to the premises upon whose discretion I could not rely."12 "While your former system was in operation!" I said, repeating his words- "do I understand you, then, to say that the 'soothing system' of which I have heard so much is no longer in force?" 13 "It is now," he replied, "several weeks since we have concluded to renounce it forever." moreResolved Question: 12 dpo negative test~TTC for 3 months?

Good evening. I am A Wong, a Youth Exchange student from Malaysia I have spent almost a month in Japan. This past month has been a fantastic experience for me. The recent 2 weeks are spent in (A). I have the opportunity to live the life of a Japanese youth, attended high school, toured the lovely cities of (A) and (B), learnt much about the Japanese culture and history, and tasted the exquisite Japanese cuisine. What touched me most is the warmth and hospitality of my wonderful host family, Mr and Mrs Y-san, their family and friends. I have been so well cared for and well fed too. You see, my otto-san is a great cook and he prepares scumptious meals. I am also privileged to have met ________, the mayor of (A), who had welcomed me with open arms. I am also thankful to Mr H-san and his wife for their warm hospitality and for bringing me around to various monumental and historical sites, and telling me much about Japan. Japan is a great country that has achieved much especially in science and innovation. She is also a country deep in culture and history. I am very honored to be given this fantastic opportunity to come to Japan as an exchange student. As a young person, it is my wish that there be more such exchanges for the young people in future so that we can build relationship bridges and bring the people of the world closer. In this manner, we are taking concrete steps to a better world, a world of mutual understanding, peace and harmony. As I will be heading back to my home country soon, I wish to take this opportunity to say goodbye and wish all, my otto-san and oka-san, their family and friends, Mr ________ and family and Mr ______ and family, good health and prosperity. I would also like to wish all my friends whom I have the privileged to befriend all the best in their future endeavours. Thank you. moreResolved Question: Round The World trip? tips please x?
Heyyy all!!! I am planning my 1 year long world trip at the moment and would appreciate some help/opinions. I am from Australia. Leaving around the end of the year and I know where I want to go: All of Asia, Europe, and South America/Central America (Including the islands) Morocco, Egypt, and somewhere else in Africa where I can do a great safari trip + get a culture shock. + Dubai and somewhere else in the Middle East (not too dangerous though). What I’m unsure of is how long I will need in each continent and country (Keeping in mind I have to do this all in one year unfortunately - due to rtw ticket conditions). My plan is to maybe contiki it /topdeck it around Europe during the world trip then at the end after the actual rtw coming back to Europe to do all the places I missed in my contiki tour and revisit the places I didn’t have enough time in. Followed by living with some family in Serbia for a while and maybe working somewhere in Europe for a while then going to the US and working there for a bit. Also how much do you think I will need? > Accommodation (not wanting resorts/5 star hotels just somewhere clean, comfortable, and safe) > Food (wanting to experience all the tastes of the world + also having the money to eat out at expensive restaurants from time to time - in places such as Paris and London) > Tours (Contiki type tours etc) > Extra flights, train/bus trips, taxis > Entry fees, shows, and other amusements eg Moulin Rouge, Museums, Palaces etc > Souvenirs (not just for myself but for friends and family too) > Partying, drinking, clubbing, bar hopping, going to festivals etc > Travel Insurance, visas (Including living and working ones), and other travel expenses. Also do you think it is a good idea to send things back home as I travel (due to the amount of places I will be going with all the souvenirs, bit of shopping etc)? I would also love to follow the sun/summer (how to I go about this) and don’t worry I plan on seeing Europe in winter after the world trip while living there too :p Thanks in advance moreVoting Question: Help- stocking stuffer ideas from my husband needed.?

What do you think?
I know it's quite messy and rushed in some areas but this is just a rough draft. As I made my way down the stone road, under the large lattice welcoming me to the temple gardens, I saw that a vast crowd had already began to form. It seemed I would not make it to my father in time for the ceremony. I quickly glanced around, eyeing the roof tops of the buildings circling the gardens. I made my way through the crowd and climbed the unsteady lattice at the side of a building in ruins. I swiftly scissor kicked, clinging to the roof with only my legs. I reached up and pulled myself up with much effort, standing to my feet. It had been awhile since I had done that. I moved to the edge, staring down into the crowd, finding my mother and father at the front where we usually held our place, a privileged place it was, since my father is the Chief guard of Azar Unito. Soren stood near my father searching the crowd for any sign of me. The sky grew dark, the wind blowing fiercely. The trumpets sounded and the crowd began to quiet, their lanterns growing dim. My fear felt foolish, there was no reason for it. Nothing happened to manifest it, only this shaking premonition that something was relying on this night. I leaned down on one knee, catching a glimpse of something to the side of the temple. The council stepped up from behind the pillars, and the crowd cheered. “People of Azar.” The eldest council member spoke in a stern tone, his long white hair swaying in the wind as he held his stance. “We have promising news for you, it will hopefully help further our great kingdom...” He spread his arms. The other members lifted there cloaked heads. I breathed in the cool air of the night, waiting for the words to come. “We, for the first time in two hundred years, are welcoming the vampires back into our kingdom, to unite as one, to overcome the growing population of humans, and rule over them!” He shouted, his eyes shut as the words of death flowed from his lips. I stood to my feet in silence, my eyes growing wide. The crowd erupted in roars of protest. “Peace!” He yelled over them. I watched as my mother yelled in protest. My father held her close in silence. I glared down at the crowd, my father had prophesied this day to come. Many turned to run, to escape. Cries of panic filled the streets as the Vampiric guards suddenly fled in, surrounding our people. “Quiet my people! Do not be rude!” The head counselor shouted. And there they were, filing onto the stage, in there dark formal jackets and clean white shirts, putting on a show of gentility. From the most important to the least important of the vampires. They all sauntered their way onto the stage. The head of the council, and it’s members, the family of the council. Demitri? Our eyes met and he smirked walking up the white marble steps. “I present to you, General, and council leader, Leonardo Gavarias.” Are council leader pointed to the lead man, who was now standing right beside him. “Hello, people of Lady Azar, the noble peace keeper.” They all stood, hands behind there back, acting as if they weren’t parasites, demons sent from that foggy, dense place they live in to turn us into evil people, which we never thought would happen. Why now? Human population? They must be lying. The counselor must have gotten a taste of blood or something. We could not follow through! “We, as the people of Elspeth, Welcome you to tour are kingdom whenever you need, to either get supplies, or just to try our delectable appetizers.” he snickered, as people gasped in shock. Demitri laughed. “We are one kingdom now, and we hope you feel honored to be paired with us.” he bowed. He hopes we feel honored? They should feel honored we saved those pests. They would be ruined if they didn’t have us. “This is The Guard Of all of Azar Unito.” The counselor said, gesturing for my father. The vampire counselors were greeting our council, and Demitri was shaking hands with my father as he stepped up. And then, Demitri turned and left, meeting a black eyed girl adorned in jewels, and leaving down a narrow passage way. I jumped, my bare feet landing solidly onto the neighboring roof, starting to follow them, but they were vampires, after all, and they could catch me at any moment. The wind blew my swirling skirt back, back towards the surely ravenous vampires who were mere inches away from my people. No. I can’t go after them. Why did I even think of that? My business was at the temple. I turned back slowly. I gasped, as Soren appeared right in front of me. “Where are you going?” he asked, hands on his hips. My boyfriend doesn't drink, I mean a taste of alcohol hasn't crossed his lips in at least 5 years. I would LOVE to do a wine tasting tour in either napa or sonoma, but don't really know where to start because it is mandatory that wherever we go have a non-alcoholic choice... This is my book: The Keep To The Past (Chap 1. Dream Boy) A warm aroma slipped over Elizabeth Taylor's body. Maybe it was her heart that was making everything so heated. Maybe it was the boy that was in her dreams-his hot breath against her face. But, to Elizabeth's disappointment, it was the sun beaming through the clouds onto her face. It was morning yet again. Worst than that it was Afternoon. "Fudge!" Elizabeth screamed at herself. Another un-excused absence. And looking at her alarm clock which showed halfway through 3rd meant another tardy. And another tardy meant detention. "No, no, no..." She continued to talk to herself. "I have a date today." She was amazed she could even get a date. She didn't like Cody that much, but still, he was hot! She had someone else she liked... The boy in her dreams, nameless and beautiful, filled her every thought. Every time her eyelids closed a slideshow of dreams appeared to her. A slideshow of him in her dreams. He was blond, light skin, no freckles, flawless...He never spoke. But he spoke through his actions. How he cared about her: the way he cuddled her cold body. The passion for her: the way his lips seemed to taste like candy to her lips. His love for her: the eyes he gave her, platinum blue, when she had to depart because her dream was ending. His notice of her beauty: the way his eyes lit up when she appeared. She couldn't help but want him. He was the perfect idealistic figurative boy every girl dreamed of. He was quixotic. She could imagine marrying him. He would surely say "I do," in the way he kissed her after "You may kiss the bride," was announced. And the best part was him being her little secret. Elizabeth laid in bed for a few more minutes, still going over last night’s dream. He had begun to kiss her more passionately. As though something bad was going to happen. But she didn't care. Inside her dreams she was immune to anything bad. Finally, she was able to get over the shocking, stinging, feeling she got from him. And then she woke up and became ready to endure the day. To continue with her bad rep. that she hated. She couldn't wait till she was 18 and able to eliminate her past. That is, If he came along in her dreams...If her Dream Boy came along... The town Elizabeth lived in was like no other. She could leave and come as she wanted. With the exception that she went to school. She lived by herself--no one lived with their parents. But that wasn't what made her town so miraculous. At her town they had an availability to clean your mind away from your 18 years of troubles. They would keep learning stuff and the things you learned from school-and only that. And then as a beautiful, seducing, sensual, human you would go around and do whatever you want. Elizabeth had heard that they gave you special powers...but she would never know. She had only seen a couple Beauties in her life. The teachers. After their exploring was done they would go back to the surgeons and get extra knowledge put in their head to teach pupils. Elizabeth had already decided she would never be a teacher...She thought any teacher was crazy. Crazy or controlled. All the other Beauties lived on the other side of the word. There was a wall--bigger than the remnants of the Great Wall of China. And on that side the Beauties spent their days. Becoming active and playing around knowing they would never get old. Barely any of them ever maturing. No one snuck over that wall. Lasers beamed at the top during the nights. And guards watched during day. All Elizabeth had ever seen was the tip if one large tour. And firecrackers going off in the nights sky. And even then it was too late to pay much notice. She hated being trapped on this side of the world. She believed the grass was greener on the other side. Elizabeth had begun walking out of her house when she hurried back inside, and crouched into a corner behind her bed and below her wooden desk. It was time for the house search. She couldn't believe she had slept in that late. But worse than the House Search was the sky outside. Cotton fluff balls were moving slowly, drifting along with the wind. The sky was a vibrant aqua blue. The wind was light, and just barely moved your hair. The sun was glazing onto her eyes, but not enough that she had to squint. It was the perfect day, to anyone else but Elizabeth, The reminder that rolled in the clouds made her want to cry more than the flood that ruined New York. It was a perfect day three years ago when her mom had died. Her mom had come to visit her. She was a Beauty. But she was unlike any other. Not only did she have one partner: her husband, but she also had tool care of her daughter. She normally said hi and stuff and gave her hug but she was no good at advice. But even then Elizabeth loved her. Her mom had sat on the park bench. She had to walk and she was taking a moment before she went inside. So Elizabeth went inside aIf you want to read the whole thing go here: http://www.worthyofpublishing.com/chapter.asp?chapter_ID=23372 moreResolved Question: Fans of the Jonas Brothers?
I'm going to start right away by saying if you don't like the Jonas Brothers, that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion. But so are we, so please, please don't troll this question saying all your old, recycled, unoriginal put downs of them because we've heard them all before and you are not going to change our minds. Plus if you hate them, why click on a question about them? Don't bother calling us stupid, brainwashed by Disney, obsessive fangirls etc etc, because that's just generalisation and there are a lot of very intelligent people with good taste in music (not that anyone has to justify themselves to you) who love them just because they make us smile. Ok? Good. Firstly, have any of you been to a concert on this tour? I've got mine soon and I'm really excited, but I want to hear some of your experiences too. Secondly, could you please rate, comment and give some more suggestions for OJD symptoms on this video me and my friend made? It's pretty lame but we want to hear some more suggestions for it and we thought it would be a good way to talk to some other Jonas fans which is always fun (: plus, there's a really, REALLY cute photo of Joe onstage. rank the beatles 12 studio albums based on your tastes. here are the 12 studio albums (by year, and not including yellow submarine or past masters) Please Please Me (1963) With The Beatles (1963) A Hard Days Night (1964) Beatles For Sale (1964) Help! (1965) Rubber Soul (1965) Revolver (1966) Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967) Magical Mystery Tour (1967) The White Album (1968) Abbey Road (1969) Let It Be (1970) Here's My List And Thoughts: 1) Sgt Peppers - This is hands down my favorite beatles album. It flows wonderfully, and ends with one of my favorite songs, A Day In The Life. 2) Magical Mystery Tour - I have to say this album is way, WAY underrated. i do agree that there are too few songs on it, but i think its great. i mean how can you go wrong with I Am The Walrus and Penny Lane? 3) Revolver - this has some kick*** songs on it, and is when they really started testing studio effects in their songs, like in Tomorrow Never Knows. 4) Let It Be - the last beatles album, deserving much recognition. when they all werent fighting, they actually made some great songs on here like I've Got A Feeling, One After 909, and I Me Mine. 5) Rubber Soul - many deep and moving songs on here. my favorite being In My Life. 6) Help! - My favorite of their early-mid albums. many of their non-hit songs were great like The Night Before, and Another Girl. 7) White Album - Their most diversed album, having many genres like rock, metal, country, blues, and even polka. My favorite is Martha My Dear. 8) Abbey Road - its a better album than im rating it, many people would put it in the top 3, i mean it had a some huge hits on it, and many short songs. My favorite is Come Together. 9) With The Beatles - Although many people say their are too many covers, i still think it was a very good album. i would consider this underrated, and my favorite song is It Wont Be Long. 10) Please Please Me - its a good album, but its definately not as good as Rolling Stone Magazine rates it.it was the start of the Beatles, and considering its a first album, it was pretty good. 11) A Hard Days Night - ok, some of you are gonna hate me for this, but i didnt really like this album at all. I mean all Beatles albums were good, but I think its overrated. My favorite song is If I Fell. 12) Beatles For Sale - ok, this is my worst Beatles album, and many people agree with that. the only hit was really Eight Days A Week. moreResolved Question: When was Billy Connolly last funny?

1. I did not write this therefore my opinions may be partial. 2. This was written by a grade 9 student. 3. Her writing has been perpetually lauded by the teacher, praising of her style and form.. yet this story neither inspires me nor inspire strength in me to congratulate her.. I personally thought it was corny, utilizing a word she used in her story, and bland. 4. Here is it... Last year, during my second year of college at Cornell, Siddhartha hired me as his “unofficial tour” guide in America. He met me when he was sitting and enjoying the breeze….right near the pile of cow dung. Everyone was staring at him, when he walked up to me, shook my hand, and said very formally, “Hello. My name is Siddhartha. How are you?” I stuttered a bit, and got out, “I’m very nice. My name is Megan. How are you? ” Very corny lines. But “Siddhartha” seemed to think them as ok conversation starters. To be honest, at first, I thought he seemed like a pervert… He asked me to take him to a natural setting, where he could “cuddle with the elements of nature”. Those were his exact words…So I took him to Cornell Plantations. Cornell Plantations is sort of like a park, but it is very large, and it has lots of experimental centers set up around it. But the air is very clean and fresh…no yucky chemicals. The plantation path winds up and down, and deer and horses graze freely. We started hiking along the trail covered with a blanket of rainbow colored leaves. Siddhartha began speaking. “You know, back home, I was once in a forest that was as peaceful and soothing as this plantation. A river there taught me everything I needed to know.” That sparked my interest. How could a river teach you something? “What do you mean?” I asked, and that set him off explaining. “I went off on a journey of self-exploration, and ended up at a river. People failed to teach me things worth listening to. The river, however, did.” A blue-jay flew by overhead, whistling a bright, merry song. Siddhartha looked up, his visage filling with contentment. The rest of the walk was made in silence as Siddhartha enjoyed the simple pleasures of the plantation, and I contemplated what he had just told me. Soon after we made our way out of the plantation, Siddhartha requested that we go to a “more modernized” place, as he put it. He wanted to see how our “social” rendezvous places contrasted with our “natural environment.” So I brought him to a mall. Pyramid Mall, to be exact. What better contrast to the wilderness than a busy, bustling mall full of exuberant teenagers? Siddhartha, I could see, was indulging his senses in a deluge of smells, sights, and sounds. “What is that cinnamon, sweet smell?” he asked a passerby while I was busy looking at cell-phone trinkets. (What? You can’t blame me; I just got a new cell!) “You mean the smell coming from that direction?” the guy pointed. “Gee, old man, you really are old if you haven’t heard of pretzels.” I hurried over, pulled Siddhartha away, and tugged him over to Aunt Sally’s Pretzel Shop. Ordering two, I told Siddhartha to find a seat while I waited for the piping hot pretzels. Siddhartha ambled over to the seats, but didn’t sit down. He was staring at the various people lounging in seats, teens, like me. They were all talking about college courses, various biased professors, their thesis…Siddhartha wandered over, and said, “Why do you not sit quietly and enjoy the taste of this…pretzel-thing? Why do you waste its taste by talking about pointless and materialistic things?” The students stared at him like he was crazy, stood up, and drifted away, giggling and pointing. Siddhartha looked after them, confused, then waved to me that he had found us a spot. I sighed, and carried over the burning cinnamon-flavored buns, and we ate in silence, as I’m sure he wanted. Then he broke the silence; “Why is it so loud? Not even our markets were this loud and full of chatter. People bartered at reasonable tones! How I wish to go back to the plantation.” I didn’t know how to reply. The noise didn’t bother me, but then, I’d grown up in these surroundings. “The river had a gurgling tone…” he said wistfully. We fell silent again. I really shouldn’t have agreed to bring Siddhartha here; he wasn’t enjoying himself, and furthermore, this just wasn’t what he liked. We left soon after finishing the snack. Siddhartha went back to India about a week later. Now when I think about it, he really was a quiet, meditative kind of guy. He exuded a sort of placid aura that calmed me when I was around him. However, I had noticed that that aura was disrupted when we were in the mall. He seemed confused and disoriented by all the noise and chaos surrounding him. The plantation, I concluded, was just his style. He just wasn’t suited for a large social environment. That was Siddhartha….I wonder why he chose me as his guide? Out of all the students he could have chosen, he chose me. Maybe it was because he found me sitting with my feetNote, I am not jealous. I am conceivably older than her... moreResolved Question: Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour 2007- Anyone know where to find old merch of it?
